Dave Meltzer noted on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio that there have been plans for Luke Harper to get involved in the feud, possibly tonight. Meltzer also indicated that this angle may be where Sting makes his return. He said, “That’s where Sting fits in too.”

It was also noted that Sting is set to be involved in the same match as Bray Wyatt at SummerSlam, unless plans change.

Update On King Barrett Gimmick, Kane Selling His Home, Sheamus Defending MITB, More

0

– Realtor.com has an article about Kane selling his 78-acre estate in Jefferson City, TN. Kane is selling the estate, which features a three-bedroom contemporary home, for $800,000. The 6,924-square-foot home sits on a hill at the end of a quarter-mile-long driveway and features a koi pond, swimming pool, trails for biking, four-wheeling, and horseback riding, a game room and a detached 2,400-square-foot garage that doubles as a fully equipped gym. Kane is selling the home because he and his wife own an Allstate insurance agency in Knoxville and they’re relocating because of the hour-long commute.

– For what it’s worth, WWE reportedly banned the name “Wade” a while back which is why King Barrett no longer uses it, according to Wrestling Observer Radio. There’s been speculation that Barrett may go back to the “Bad News” gimmick after WWE Battleground tonight as “The Crown” is on the line in his Kickoff Pre-show match against R-Truth.

– Sherrod Jones sent word that Lana is being advertised to team with Dolph Ziggler against Rusev and Summer Rae in a mixed tag match at the WWE live event on September 4th in Hampton, Virginia. Also advertised for that event is Neville vs. Sheamus with the Money In the Bank briefcase on the line and John Cena vs. Kevin Owens in a Street Fight.

– MMA star King Mo Lawal recently appeared on the Mayweather Boxing Channel and said he believes Jeff Jarrett’s Global Force Wrestling is going to combine with TNA. Mo added that he’s interested in being Crime Time’s manager when they go to GFW. He also commented on not wrestling a match for TNA, “They f–ked up on that, to me it’s whatever. I can’t control what they do, I was ready. It’s whatever, I’m gonna do my independent s–t now.”

– MVP’s TNA departure did not come as a surprise to many within the company, according to Wrestling Observer Radio. News On The NXT Divas Coming To WWE’s Main Roster, Stephanie McMahon, Tye Dillinger

0

Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

– WWE creative went back and forth in recent weeks over how to bring the group of NXT Divas to the main roster. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that there were arguments on how to get it going and which Divas to use.

There was an idea that the new Divas should come in, get rid of the old Divas and essentially “transplant” the NXT Women’s division to the main roster, keeping a few of the Divas who could keep up or ones that had to be used due to E!’s Total Divas. Stephanie McMahon was always planned to be involved and that was never debated but they did go back and forth on if she should bring them in and take credit as a babyface or not.

At some points in the discussions they were going to bring up four Divas – Sasha Banks, Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Bayley, but at other times they were just going to bring up two Divas – Charlotte and Banks or Charlotte and Becky.

It’s said that both Triple H and Stephanie are supporting this angle so it probably won’t be one of those WWE angles that is forgotten about within a few weeks.

– – Tye Dillinger will finally be bringing his “Perfect 10” gimmick to NXT TV, apparently on the August 12th episode in a match against Solomon Crowe. Dillinger has been coming out and “grading” NXT matches at live events for months and the gimmick is a big hit with the NXT regulars. Dillinger posted this fan photo from Thursday’s NXT tapings and as you can see, fans in the crowd were holding up “10” signs:

Finally….he's here. #Perfect10 @wwenxt @wwe

Podcast: The TMPToW Interview Harley Race

0

Source: Two Man Power Trip Of Wrestling

Harley Race was recently interviewed by our good friends at The Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling. You can check out the full interview here, here are some of the highlights.

What do students take away from a Harley Race Wrestling Camp:

They are going to learn how to take care of themselves and then how to perform inside that squared circle. After that we start sticking them into the ring and see how they would look for the public. When you’ve got the physical side and that’s pretty much all the way down then the other parts will come along to you fairly easy.

Heat with Ric Flair and not wanting to drop the NWA Title:

Overall, Flair and I have had a hellishly active part of wrestling. He knows and I know that we are too old to want to get involved with this stuff now. In 1983, Flair was just starting to really get involved and I was at that point in time thinking that that he wasn’t ready but once he got really involved in the championship part of it (the business) he came along to be one of the best ever. Flair proved to me that he was a good hand in the ring and he was in there with the absolute very best so it was all pretty easy from there.

Memories of Dusty Rhodes:

Dusty was probably one of the best interview people ever in wrestling. He could talk about anything on the face of God’s green earth and make it sound like it was extremely important. Overall, Dusty could perform in that ring as well as just about anybody. I never really had a bad performance with Dusty in any of the matches that we ever had. There are very few people that I can say that about.

Working the Funk Family and having a preference of wrestling Dory or Terry:

Dory was very very good in the ring. He and Terry both were great in there but I can’t mention one without mentioning the other. Between the two of them it was just the flip of a coin, with Dory you could have a little bit better of a wrestling match. Terry was good for wrestling but he was very very good at scrambling.

Body Slamming Andre the Giant:

The only reservation I ever had was to have everything in the right spot at the right time and to be able to come up with him. Because you were lifting the world’s biggest athlete. It was a hell of a lot better to be on the same side as him.

The WWF’s National expansion and invading “his territory”:

By the time they had done the expansion you knew that they were going around the whole entire country. I didn’t want to get involved in fights with them or against them. I just wanted to stay Harley Race in the wrestling world, worldwide and that is what I did for a long time.

Johnny Mundo On If He Left WWE On Good Terms, Would He Go Back, Lucha, More

0

WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin interviewed Lucha Underground’s Johnny Mundo, the former John Morrison, on his podcast this week. During the interview Mundo talked about his time with WWE, and said that he felt “handcuffed” during his time with the company.

“[W]hen I say ‘handcuffed’, sometimes with WWE, I felt like I wanted to be the main event guy,” Mundo said. “I wanted to be the guy that could come up with any idea I wanted and have it happen. And just the way the business works over there, you can’t have that for everybody, you know? You just can’t. It’s impossible. And at Lucha Underground, I am that guy. Like, I’m the main event guy.”

Mundo noted that the reason he left WWE was to get into action/comedy filmmaking and producing. Additionally, Mundo stated that he wanted “more creative autonomy” and “more control over [his] time” when it came time for him to renegotiate his deal with WWE.

“I wanted a few specific things. Really, what I wanted was more creative autonomy. I just wanted some assurances of that and we were talking about a deal and they wanted me to sign a 3-year deal that was kind of the same deal that I had,” Mundo continued, “because I had that neck injury, and I was still having residual pain, and I hadn’t had time to fully rehab and I jumped back in to the road full time, I feel like I wanted more control over my time.”

Despite making the decision to walk away from the WWE, Mundo claimed that he left WWE on good terms.

“I just said, ‘I don’t want to re-sign right now; maybe I need 6 months or a year, and I’ll come back.’ We just left it at that and that has become 4 years now, almost.”

When asked if Mundo would consider returning to WWE, he replied, “Sure. Definitely. It’s always hard, though, to say in wrestling, what’s going to happen and I know Lucha [Underground] season 2 is happening, and they are really excited about it and I am too. And I feel like everything I wanted to do in wrestling is happening for me right now with Lucha, so I’m going to stay and I’m not going anywhere. But with WWE, I mean, as a kid, I was watching WrestleMania, and that was my dream.”

Mundo stated that he would be interested in returning to WWE if Lucha Underground season 2 does not happen or if the show gets cancelled.

“If there was no Lucha [Underground], I would consider going back [to WWE]. There is Lucha, and that, right now, is, I think, exactly what I wanted to have in wrestling and I think that there is a possibility that it could take off and become something much, much bigger than anyone was expecting.

“If I were to go back [to WWE], I feel like I’ve learned a lot about who I am in the ring and how to go about sticking up for yourself with who you want to work with, what you want to do.”

New Japan Pro Wrestling announced today that they are undergoing major international expansion and will be sending top talents to various international events as part of talent exchanges.

The promotions they announced they are working with include Ring of Honor, Global Force Wrestling, the NWA, CMLL, Revolution Pro and WXW.

In an update from earlier, NJPW did not announce any kind of deal with WWE and their NXT brand. The incorrect reports were based on bad translations. NJPW has announced a “Young Lions” program that will be a developmental program similar to NXT.
