Possible Reason For Rusev Squash Against Zack Ryder On Raw

0

Source: F4WOnline

The gear that Zack Ryder wore on last night’s WWE RAW was recently designed by a fan through a Twitter contest. Ryder tweeted the following about his loss to Rusev last night:

“Ok I get it. @RusevBUL crushed me…again.”

It was speculated on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that Ryder’s loss to Rusev last night may have been due to some recent negative tweets that he’s posted. It was speculated that Ryder may have had a “JTG moment” on RAW last night, referring to when JTG spoke out against the company in August of 2012 and was brought to RAW the next week for a squash loss to Ryback.

WWE has invited NFL player Michael Sam to next Monday’s WWE RAW from Baltimore. Sam was the first publicly gay player to be drafted in the NFL. He was cut by the St. Louis Rams this weekend after a good performance in the preseason.

If Sam comes to RAW next week, WWE will give him an open microphone to tell his side of things.

Next Monday’s RAW will face major competition as the NFL returns with a doubleheader.

Stephanie McMahon wrote the following open letter to Sam on WWE’s website:

Exhibiting class and dignity rarely shown in professional sports, Michael Sam, WWE invites you to next Monday’s Raw to speak of your struggles to succeed, lessons you have learned along the way, the courage it takes to be yourself and the prospects of your continued journey.
You are a role model, who, by example, can encourage everyone to stand up and openly be themselves.

Signed,
Stephanie McMahon
CBO, WWE

– Injured WWE Superstar Darren Young re-tweeted the following comments from fans during last night’s RAW in regards to WWE inviting Michael Sam, the first openly gay NFL draftee, to next week’s show.

“So @WWE will allow this Michael Sam guy to have an open mic but not their own @DarrenYoungWWE?”

“Ironic that @WWE is worrying about @MichaelSamNFL even tho @DarrenYoungWWE came out, works for them and they never mentioned it at all. #smh”

CM Punk And AJ Lee Wedding Photos Leaked, Punk Not Happy

– A photo from CM Punk and AJ Lee’s wedding this past summer leaked online over the weekend. Punk was apparently upset with the photo being leaked.

“Tweet that pic and I block you. Simple,” Punk wrote in a tweet that was later deleted (via WhatCulture.com). “And I block you because I can’t punch you in your disrespectful f—ing face. Pigs.”

For those pigs whom are interested, here are the photos…

The Ultimate Calamity: One-Third Of WrestleMania VI Competitors Now Dead

3

[spacer height=”20px”]

Partial credit for this piece goes to the Post Game Staff, thanks for your contribution.

The recent death of the Ultimate Warrior was the latest grim reminder that professional wrestlers continue to drop dead from something other than old age at an alarming rate.

The pinnacle of the Warrior’s career was WrestleMania VI on April 1, 1990, at SkyDome in Toronto. Warrior defeated Hulk Hogan in the main event to win the WWF championship. Warrior is the 12th wrestler who competed at WrestleMania VI to have died.. That makes one-third of the card’s 36 person working roster. The oldest of the bunch was just 63.

As a point of reference, of the 44 starting players from that year’s Super Bowl between the 49ers and Broncos, only ONE has died: Denver defensive end Ron Holmes, who was 48 when he passed away in 2011 from diabetes and coronary issues.

Reasons for wrestlers’ dying early include grueling travel schedules, painkiller abuse, steroid use, other drugs, have been well-documented. The passing of the Warrior at age 54 from what was suspected to be a heart attack just days after his induction to WWE’s Hall of Fame only underscores the issue.

Let’s take a look at those we’ve lost…

1. The Ultimate Warrior appeared on the WWE ‘Raw’ TV program Monday in New Orleans just a day after WrestleMania XXX. His speech on ‘Raw’ foreshadowed his death, telling fans, “Every man’s heart one day beats its final beat. His lungs breathe their final breath. And if what that man did in his life makes the blood pulse through the body of others and makes them believe deeper in something that’s larger than life, then his essence, his spirit, will be immortalized by the storytellers — by the loyalty, by the memory of those who honor him, and make the running the man did live forever.”

2. “Macho Man” Randy Savage was 58 when he died of a heart attack in 2011. At WrestleMania VI, Savage and Sensational Sherri Martel lost a mixed tag-team match to Dusty Rhodes and Sapphire.

3. Andre the Giant was 46 when he died of heart failure in 1993 credited largely to his gigantism disease. At WrestleMania VI, Andre and Haku lost the WWE tag-team championship to Ax and Smash of Demolition.

4. ‘Ravishing’ Rick Rude was 40 when he died of heart failure related to an overdose in 1999. At WrestleMania VI, Rude defeated Jimmy Snuka.

5. Known as Mr. Perfect, Curt Hennig was 44 when he died from “acute cocaine intoxication” in 2003. At WrestleMania VI, Hennig lost to Brutus Beefcake.

6. Known as Earthquake, John Tenta was 42 when he died in 2006 from bladder cancer that spread to his lungs. At WrestleMania VI, he defeated Hercules.

7. Ray “The Mighty Hercules” Fernandez was 47 when he died in 2004 from heart disease. At WrestleMania VI, he lost to Earthquake.

8. Known as Bad News Brown, Allen Coage, an Olympic bronze medalist in judo, was 63 when he died in 2007 of a heart attack. At WrestleMania VI, he had a double countout in his match against Roddy Piper.

9. “Sensational” Sherri Martel was 49 when she died of an overdose in 2007. At WrestleMania VI, she and Randy Savage lost a mixed tag-team match to Dusty Rhodes and Sapphire.

10. Dino Bravo was 44 when he was gunned down in 1993, a murder that some believe was linked his alleged involvement in a cigarette smuggling ring. At WrestleMania VI, he lost to Hacksaw Jim Duggan.

11. Known as the Big Boss Man, Ray Traylor was 41 when he died of a heart attack in 2004. At WrestleMania VI, he defeated Akeem.

12. Known as Sweet Sapphire, Juanita Wright was 61 when she died of a heart attack in 1996. At WrestleMania VI, she and Dusty Rhodes won a mixed tag-team match against Randy Savage and Sensational Sherri.

It’s an eerie feeling to know that 12 of the 36 wrestlers (or 33%) who competed in the ring that night as part of the PPV event have now passed away. This does not include the likes of valet Miss Elizabeth (overdose) aged 42, Referee Joey Marella (auto accident) aged 31, and his father, wrestling announcer Gorilla Monsoon (heart failure/diabetes) aged 62, who have also passed away in an untimely manner since the event.

It’s hard to argue that the rough road schedule, the wear and the tear on the body, and plenty of ‘extracurricular’ partying played a part in many of these deaths. In one of my favorite eras, and one of my favorite events of said era, it hurts to look back and know so many have left us. We can only hope others have learned from their mistakes.

The “OH MY GOD!” Review: ECW TV 10/5 & 10/12/93

TV 1993-10-05 (Matches taped Bloodfest Day 1 1993-10-01 from ECW Arena in Philadelphia, PA)

Champions
Heavyweight: “Fabulous” Shane Douglas
TV: “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka
Tag: Tony “Hitman” Stetson & Johnny Hotbody

Joey Styles is outside the ECW Arena to introduce us to the show and he lets us know that tonight Terry Funk will take on TV Champion “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka in a cage match.

Opening Video

Public Enemy vs. Silver Jet & Gino Caruso, ref Jim Molineaux
The action starts with a weird edit showing Johnny Grunge pushing Gino Caruso into their corner so we’ll call this one joined in progress. Tag made to Rocco Roc and he pushes Caruso into the corner but then misses an elbow drop. Tag made to Silver Jet and he has the advantage of Roc. Roc fights back and hits a back elbow of an irish whip. Roc ducks a clothesline and hits a springboard moonsault for 2. Grunge back in with a powerslam. Grunge with a reverse DDT and Roc comes in with a top rope somersault senton for the win. 3.54 is shown.

Styles is in the ECW Control Center and at Bloodfest Hunter Q. Robbins introduced Sabu. Robbins however had also hired the Tazmaniac which did not sit well with him. Sabu is a maniac and is being rolled to the ring chained to a cart. Robbins is in the ring already telling the Tazmaniac to take his hands off of him. Robbins yells for the handler to unchain Sabu. Sabu attacks Tazmaniac from behind. Tazmaniac is thrown to the floor and Sabu hits a springboard moonsault to the outside.

Matty is “In the House” and he throws it to the match.

Sabu (w/ Hunter Q. Robbins III) vs. Tazmaniac, ref John Finnegan
Sabu is running through the crowd throwing chairs and Tazmaniac shows up and they start going at it in the crowd. They quickly make it into the ring and Sabu hits a spin kick that sends Tazmaniac back to the floor. Sabu with a somersault plancha to the floor. Tazmaniac gets a chair and uses it a few times on Sabu. Sabu fights back and sits on the top rope to springboard moonsault onto the standing Tazmaniac on the floor again. Back in the ring Tazmaniac drops Sabu on his head with a german and follows it up with a release northern lights for 2. Tazmaniac with a solid clothesline. Sabu rolls to the floor and Tazmaniac brings a table into the ring. Sabu fights back and puts Tazmaniac on the table but it breaks. Tazmaniac gets off it and belly to bellys Sabu onto the table. Sabu back up with a drop kick but then misses a leg drop. Things start to break down with lots of awkward looking punches and slow charges into the corners. Sabu goes for a superrana but Tazmaniac kind of blocks it but still rolls of the buckle. Tazmaniac goes up top and misses and somersault senton. Sabu goes up top and lands a moonsault for the pin in 6.51.

We come back from commercial break and Sabu is still in the ring and he moonsaults through a table a few times.

We see a music package showing highlights of the Fall Fashion Showdown.

Rockin’ Rebel is backstage and he pats himself on the back for injuring “Wildman” Sal Bellomo. He just like all the kids hopes Sal gets well soon so he can finish the job.

The Sandman vs. Metal Maniac, ref John Finnegan
Match is joined in progress but it looks to be from just after the opening bell as they have not locked up yet. Sandman out wrestles Maniac to start and then hits a drop kick that sends Maniac to the floor. Maniac reaches into the ring and trips up Sandman and then slams his leg into the ring post. Side slam gets 2. Maniac follows it up with a flying clothesline. Sandman fights back with a clothesline and enziguri. He goes up top and finishes the Maniac off with a clothesline. 3.34 of the match is shown.

Steel Cage Match: TV Champion “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka vs. Terry Funk, ref John Finnegan
Through the door or over the top to the floor to win this match. Twenty minutes left on this show as I strap in for what I expect to be a very slow and boring cage match. Snuka throws Funk so hard into the turnbuckle the top cable snaps and becomes very loose. Paul E Dangerously says that since the merger with NWA happened all contracts were reviewed and he is no longer the official manager of Snuka. Funk goes face first into the cage. Piledriver and Snuka tries to go over the top but Funk stops him. Both men standing on the top rope fighting. Back on the mat Snuka rakes Funk’s face along the cage. Funk fights back and rams Snuka into all sides of the cage and drops him with a piledriver. Multiple headbutts by Funk but they don’t hurt Snuka instead Funk is the one that goes down. Snuka with a slam but then he misses a second rope headbutt. We go to commercial as Funk is setting up a suplex. Back from break and they are both at the top of the cage with Funk upside down. Snuka knocks him to the mat and then hits a swinging neckbreaker. Backbreaker and we go to commercial again. Back from break and the two men are brawling on the mat. Snuka and Funk trade slamming each others face into the cage. Funk starts to climb and gets all but his foot over to the other side. He headbutts Snuka to down to the mat and makes it out of the ring to win the title. 10.45 is shown. After the match Funk goes crazy and throws chairs into the ring and hits a camera man.

Joey Styles is backstage with Terry Funk for a sit down interview. Funk gives credit to Snuka. He says that the ECW TV Champions means as much to him as the WWF and WCW Titles. He says that ECW has the best fans in the world.

Paul E. Dangerously is at Snuka’s dressing room knocking on the door and trying to get him to come out for an interview. Paul says Snuka will not come out and that he can go in and then let us know what Snuka says. Paul E. tries to open the door but it gets slammed on his face.

Styles is outside the locker room of Funk and its loud and there is something that looks like napkins flying at Styles. He continues to duck and dodge even when nothing is coming his way. Someone pours beer on Styles. I’m really confused as to way the party is on the outside of the dressing room.

My thoughts on the show…
Two big debuts on this episode with Sabu and Tazmaniac. With Shane Douglas being in the company we now have the arguably the three biggest stars in the company’s history starting off. Their match was pretty much the only one worth anything on the show. The PE match was a squash and the cage match was not at all exciting. Thumbs in the middle for this week’s show.

TV 1993-10-12 (Matches taped Bloodfest Day 1 1993-10-01 from ECW Arena in Philadelphia, PA)

Champions
Heavyweight: “Fabulous” Shane Douglas
TV: Terry Funk
Tag: Tony “Hitman” Stetson & Johnny Hotbody

Back with more action from Bloodfest Day 1 on this episode of ECW TV.

TV Champion Terry Funk, JT Smith & Abdullah the Butcher vs. “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka, “Magnificent” Don Muraco & Kevin Sullivan, ref Jim Molineaux
Funk’s team hits the ring and a wild brawl breaks out with chairs being thrown into the ring. Butcher and Sullivan are on the floor brawling the other 4 are in the ring going at it. Smith is apparently the new protégée of Funk as Joey Styles and Paul E. Dangerously tell us about 50 times. Muraco clotheslines Smith on the floor and turns him inside out. All six men in the ring Muraco uses a chair on Smith. Muraco holds Funk and Snuka throws powder but Funk moves and it goes into the eyes of Muraco. Smith with a school boy on Muraco and he gets the pin at 4.36

Tommy Dreamer is backstage and next week he makes his debut next week against Tazmaniac. Dreamer says he’s gonna give 110%.

Back from commercial and we are shown highlights from last weeks Sabu match. Joey and Paul E. do a new voice over and really hype Sabu hard.

Tag Team Champions Tony “Hitman” Stetson and Johnny Hotbody are in the ring with their manager Hunter Q. Robbins III getting ready for a sparring session but instead with go to Jay Sulli in the back with a special report. Sulli is backstage with Commissioner Tod Gordon. Gordon says ECW has gotten so many postcards in the past week from men women and children telling them that they are having nightmares because of Sabu. Due to this Sabu will no longer be on TV until the NWA board can review the video of his match against Tazmaniac. Robbins and Paul E both go to the back to complain about what Gordon is doing. Paul E offers Robbins his lawyers to deal with the problem.

Malia Hosaka vs. Molly McShane, ref Jim Molineaux
Hosaka with some arm drags. Mcshane slides through the legs and gets a monkey flip and arm drag. Hosaka with a hip toss and victory roll and grabs onto an arm bar. Spin kick by Hosaka for 2. McShane with a suplex for 2. Gut wrench suplex for 2 followed by a slam for 2. McShane goes up top but misses a high cross body. Hosaka hits a top rope somersault senton to a standing McShane and gets the win in 3.48.

The Bad Breed are backstage. Axl Rotten says they are going to kick the door down in ECW and take over and the Badd Company is the first team in the way. Ian Rotten says they are the hottest team around. As Axl talks Ian mouths what Axl is saying making it rather obvious that they are reading from cue cards.

Badd Company vs. The Bad Breed, ref John Finnegan
Paul Diamond starts with Ian Rotten. After some basic wrestling Diamond slams both Ian and Axl Rotten and hits a spin kick on Axl. Bad Breed both bail to the floor. Paul E. makes it back to the announcers booth and Joey asks him what’s going on with Sabu. Pat Tanaka and Axl now come in. Paul E. says the NWA is also looking into Funk for hitting the camera man last week. Tanaka with a flying double chop for 2. Diamond comes in and hits a spin kick on Axl in the corner. Elbow drop for 2. Axl racks the eyes and tags in Ian. Ian with a corner whip and then charges but Diamond gets the feet up and then goes up top and comes off with a bulldog. Tanaka tagged back in and hits superkick. Axl comes back in and takes over on Tanaka. Bad Breed make a few illegal switches. Ian ends up back in the ring with Tanaka and begins to overpower him. Ian with a bonsai drop off the top rope. Body slam by Ian and he goes up top but misses a splash. Both men make tags. Diamond comes in and hits a gordbuster on Ian and DDT on Axl. Tanaka comes back in and they hit a double superkick on Ian. Diamond puts Ian’s neck on the top rope and picks up his legs. Tanaka leap frogs over Diamond and lands on Ian. Diamond with a belly to back suplex and then the cover for the pin in 9.53.

Public Enemey are in the “hood” and they talk trash about the Headhunters for not showing up for their cage match like a bunch of punks. Instead next week they will take on Badd Company.

Rockin’ Rebel is backstage with Joey Styles. Rebel is pretending to cry over what he did to Sal Bellomo.

Rockin Rebel (w/ Chris Michaels) vs. Don E. Allen, ref Jim Molineaux
Match is joined in progress. Clothesline by Rebel and he chokes Allen in the corner. Allen fights back and lands two dropkicks that take Rebel down. Rebel comes right back with a backbreaker. Spinebuster gets 3 in 1.42 shown. After the match Rebel and Michaels are in the ring on the mic. Paul E. and Styles are talking the whole time and you get hear a word Rebel is saying. Rebel says he hates all the kids that like Bellomo including Michaels’ kid. Rebel attacks Michaels from behind and they brawl towards the locker room.

Matty is in the house and says that Rebel and Michaels had a match after their brawl and it was supposed to be shown next week but he wants to see it now.

Rockin’ Rebel vs. Chris Michaels, ref Jim Molineaux
Rebel with a swinging neckbreaker. They trade chops and Michaels hits a clothesline. Michaels pounds on Rebel in the corner. The ref pulls him back which allows Rebel to go into his tights and pull out an object on his fist. He nails Michaels and pins him in 1.44.

Paul E. and Joey are back in the dressing room. Next week JT Smith teams with Sandman to go after Tag Team Champions Johnny Hotbody and Tony “Hitman” Stetson. Also Tommy Dreamer takes on Tazmaniac and Badd Company goes up against Public Enemy. Joey wants an update on Sabu from Paul E. Next week Paul E. promises the all new Dangerous Alliance with Shane Douglas.

My thoughts on the show…
Ehh, the Badd Company/Bad Breed match was decent enough. Really the only thing that continues to be worth seeing on ECW TV is Paul E. He had a nice little segment at the end promising the new Alliance. Thumbs slightly down on this show overall.

Update On Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts’ Condition And Why He Was Put On A Ventilator

0

Sinn Bodi, who has been with Jake Roberts in Las Vegas all week, wrote the following update on Facebook last night: (grammar edited for multiple typos)

“UPDATE on Jake The Snake Roberts: Jake is NOT in a coma! Please don’t believe crappy gossip… Jake still has Pneumonia. He is not getting enough oxygen so he has been sedated and put on a ventilator… (Sedated only because the procedure is painful). Doctors have to wait & see how he responds before they can continue with MRI & other tests as the Ventilator is inhibiting but necessary… And until the Pneumonia is cleared up it is preventing Docs from seeing what the underlying problems are. Docs can only speculate on how long he will be in this state. ?#?GetBetterJake? You can leave Jake Get-well-messages on Twitter @JakeSnakeDDT”

We noted before that Jake’s lawyer said in a statement that Jake was induced by doctors into a “coma-like state” in order to effectively treat his pneumonia.
