WWE Releases Joey Styles, Recent Q&A Transcript Surfaces

0

It has become apparent that Joey Styles was recently released by WWE within the last several days.

He stopped tweeting on July 29th, shortly after participating in a Facebook Q&A, which was deleted and never put back online. Below are some of the highlights from the Q&A:

* Styles said that he had to beg for controversial questions, and he said to consider it a “shoot interview” on a WWE medium. He noted that any heat that’s generated from the Q&A should be directed at him directly. Cathy Kelley joked, “someone’s getting in trouble.”
* Kelley noted that she loves Styles’ interview because of his honesty. Styles said not the live ones because WWE edits them, and that the stuff he said that got cut out has been phenomenal.

* Styles was asked was asked how far ahead of time WWE.com got information. Styles said that things for web branding, like logos, etc. are gotten as soon as they are approved because so many pages have to be changed. As for what’s going to happen on RAW or SmackDown, Styles said that one member of the WWE writing team conveys that information to one member of WWE.com, and it doesn’t go to him so he finds out about storyline surprises at the same time the fans do.

* Styles was asked if anyone could take the belt from Asuka is Bayley isn’t able to defeat her. Styles pointed out that he has nothing against the term “belt” and joked that it would get him in trouble. He said he understands using the term title, but when it’s used in a match, belt is appropriate since a title is not a physical object. “So that’s strike one against me already on this Facebook live,” Styles joked. Styles said that he doesn’t think anyone is as good of a Striker as Asuka, and they might have to go outside of NXT to find a striker that can match her. He said that there are a lot of talented women in developmental that aren’t on NXT television.

* Styles was asked if the New Era stars were as hungry as stars in the old ECW, and Styles said “absolutely.” Styles said that there were wrestlers in ECW that liked to party after the matches, while stars of the New Era don’t. He said the stars of the New Era are the hungriest he’s seen.

* Styles was asked which former ECW stars he’d like to see back. Styles said that Tommy Dreamer was approached for the draft, but he’s too busy with his House of Hardcore promotion.

* Styles said that he thinks Finn Balor is the next big thing in WWE. Styles said that “luckily the announcers didn’t beat us over the head with it over how much he weighs but he’s not a monster,” and that he always thought Gorilla Monsoon’s old quote about a good big man beating a good little man was nonsense. He said that he thinks Finn is a future world champion.

* Styles asked wrestlers to stop doing suicide dives. He said that in the past it was special, but now even big people do it and it’s not worth the risk. He talked about Sasha Banks almost landing on her head during her Women’s title match with Charlotte. “If it’s not special, don’t do it anymore. That move frightens me.”

* Styles said that if he could come back to call a match, he’d like to call a women’s match on WrestleMania because when he was commentating, they weren’t really competitive like they are today. He said he thought the women’s match at WrestleMania 32 was the best match on the show, and said “thank heavens” for WWE dropping the term Divas because he hated that term.

* Styles was asked about the WWE Universal title not being named the WWE Universe title. He joked that his response might get him fired. He said that fans aren’t crazy about either name. He would have rather had Ambrose’s title be called the “WWE SmackDown Championship” and the new one the “WWE RAW Championship. Ultimately he said that people will get used to the name.

* He thinks both brands should have their own set of titles, and brand them like NXT, so you’d have the SmackDown Tag Team Championship, the RAW Women’s Championship, etc.

* Styles said that the three man announcing team is terrible. He noted that it works in some sports, but since wrestling moves so fast that makes three announcers too much.

* He prefers the product being PG as opposed to PG-13. He said that you have to work harder when you don’t have blood and profanity, and it’s smarter business to be PG. It forces people to be more creative.

* He talked about loving the New Day and talked about how much merchandise they moved, calling them an ATM machine for WWE.

* Styles was asked about WWE “shoving Roman Reigns down [fans’] throats,” which we covered before. He said that it’s because Vince thinks it can work, and he’s been right much more than he’s been wrong. Cathy Kelley noted her female friends love Reigns, and Styles said that’s part of it, noting that moms bring kids to shows and moms love Reigns.

* Styles was asked if WWE tries too hard to cater to the IWC. Styles said no, because they don’t want Reigns and yet WWE pushes him.

* When asked what indy wrestler WWE should hire, Styles said Joey Ryan and noted that he would have to tweak his gimmick in WWE. He feels that Ryan can do his character in a PG way. He said he doesn’t know Joey Ryan, but appreciates his work. He thinks Joey Ryan done PG would be very entertaining.

* At the end of the Q&A, Styles joked that people will remember the Q&A because it was what finally got him fired. He said that to all the sports sites that cover WWE, like ESPN who have people covering WWE that don’t know the business, they can reach out to him on Twitter if he gets fired.

Shelton Benjamin No Longer Returning To WWE

0

WWE recently announced that Shelton Benjamin would be returning to WWE on the SmackDown brand. Benjamin revealed on Twitter today that he is no longer returning to tend to a torn rotator cuff.

You can see his tweets below:

I am both disappointed & sadden to announce that due to a serious injury to my shoulder I will not be returning to @WWE at this time.

For now I will have to put pro-wrestling to the side as I prepare to undergo surgery to repair my torn rotator.

This comes as a shock to me as i am no stranger to performing while in pain yet I had no idea of the severity of my condition

Thank you @WWE for helping me discover this situation & for giving me an opportunity to return. I will be back

For now I must refocus my energy on repairing my body and mind.

WWE Smackdown Live Results – August 2, 2016

0

Bobby “The Brain” Mayo back and getting ready to go with the second episode of the new Smackdown Live. I warn everyone in advance, I pull no punches, I’m hardly “PC”, and I say what I think and yes that includes swear words. So I guess you could say this live review is rated M for mature.

Generally I plan to list Smackdown Preshow Bullet Points here each week, but I missed the first half of the preshow this week while taking care of some things. There was however a piece on John Cena and some of the ladies at the Teen Choice Awards or whatever it was called. Then they did short pieces of Carmella and Eva Marie. They announce Marie as wrestling tonight.

They spent the rest of the Preshow talking about the resurgence of Dolph Ziggler. After only one week I’d hardly call it a resurgence but I’d like to believe so.

Also looks like Brock Lesnar is at Smackdown so that could be cool. Nobody pisses off the beast. I just hope Randy doesn’t pop his shoulder out while walking to the ring. Back to back pay days for the Brockster, doubt he will be on TV next week.

WWE SMACKDOWN LIVE

August 2, 2016 – NASHVILLE, TN
BRIDGESTONE ARENA

* The show kicks off with Shane McMahon, D-Bry and RKO standing backstage watching Randy’s attack on Lesnar. Shane has hired a slew of security to guard the building and Orton tonight because Shane has a feeling that Brock will look to get revenge.

The Miz & Maryse jump in. Miz is upset he’s not getting the welcome as IC Champ that Ambrose got. Bryan explains he didn’t want to draft Miz but rather the IC Title. Miz will meet the winner of a triple threat match tonight at Summer Slam. Triple threat is Apollo Crews, Corbin and Kalisto.

– DEAN AMBROSE AND DOLPH ZIGGLER SEGMENT –

Dean Ambrose makes his way to the ring for a promo. He talks about how he got here, beating those other Shield fucks. Dean calls out Ziggler. Dolph says he thinks they’re the same but Ambrose disagrees. Dolph says Ambrose came in on top with the Shield while Ziggler was cast as a male cheerleader. True Story.

Ambrose says Dolph is too worried about the office, his looks, shaking his ass, his fancy moves, his outfits, everything but what’s important. Dean says Dolph will steal the show with Dean but he will also lose to Dean Machine. Ziggler returns fire talking about his drive to be a WWE star since age 5. Dolph talks about being disrespected and overlooked for the last 7 years. Ziggler gets fired up. Pretty cool shit from both guys, very intense and very good promos from both sides.

Ziggler says he’s that damn good. Dean says he’s not. Dean says Dolph’s real problem is that he’s not as good as he thinks he is. Ambrose leaves.

Really good opening segment from both guys.

TO THE BRAY WYATT.

WHAT THE FUUUUUUCCCCCKKKKKKKK????????????????

BRAY WYATT FUCKING ATTACKS ZIGGLER OUT OF NOWHERE WITH SISTER ABIGAIL. HE MOCKS ZIGGLER. HE SAYS DOLPH DOESN’T LOOK LIKE A CHAMPION AND THAT DOLPH STOLE HIS SHOT AT THE TITLE LAST WEEK.

WYATT WANTS ZIGGLER ONE ON ONE TONIGHT FOR THE RIGHT AT THE SUMMER SLAM TITLE SHOT.

Sorry for the caps. Hehe. Wyatt has some weird white shit in his hair. Looks like this will be our main event. Pretty fucking badass opening segment. Bray Wyatt is already floating around the main event so that’s good shit too.

* TO THE BACK – Post commercial. Dolph Ziggler wants the match with Wyatt. He tells Bryan & Shane he wants the match and they try and talk him out of it. Dolph goes crazy, he thinks nobody thinks he’s good enough to be in the title match at Summer Slam and he DEMANDS the fucking match. Shane agrees. This is getting scary.

TRIPLE THREAT IC TITLE NUMBER ONE CONTENDER MATCH IS NEXT…

– KALISTO VS. APOLLO CREWS VS. BARON CORBIN –

D-Bag Miz is on commentary. Fucking shitty Maryse is there too. If Maryse was just a body I’d fuck her asshole off but I can’t stand her face and the fact that her dried out hair morphs into her skin color. It’s creepy shit.

The faces send Corbin outside to start. Corbin pulls Crews out next. Kalisto dives out onto Corbin and we go to commercials like a minute into this shit. How nice. Corbin is heel and Kalisto has lost heat so I’m guessing this is Apollo’s push to fuck up. They gave him the Battle Royal win and slot in the WWE Title contender match last week. This week he gets another chance at working Summer Slam for a title. What a lucky fuck. So we rejoin the match with some neat little three way spot shit. Crews nails a wicked ass fall away slam into a Samoan drop for 2 on Kalisto. Corbin rushes in and drops Crews with one of his signatures for 2.

Kalisto tries a flying rana off the top but Corbin catches him. Crews dropkicks Corbin and causes him to fly out of the ring. Crews pins Kalisto with a shitty roll up out of nowhere and the match ends just like that in 7 minutes. What a shit finish and a heel thing to do.

Winner is Apollo Crews

Corbin attacks Kalisto after the match. Crews makes the save. Miz sneaks in with the Skull Crushing Finale on Crews. Miz looks to pose in his suit but Corbin drops Miz with End of Dayz mother fucker. Corbin is the last man standing. Crews has great moves but no charisma.

– BECKY LYNCH VS. EVA MARIE –

Eva gets the same intro she got last week. To quote a Terry Funk line from years ago, you can just look at Eva Marie and tell she’s a son of a bitch. But I’d take that lingerie outfit she’s wearing and fuck somebody’s holes with it all night long. Eva’s knee seems to be bothering her after she enters the ring and so she forfeits. What the fuck is this garbage? The ref and a trainer help her to the back. This is fucking no way to get over the women’s division at all.

Seriously, what the fuck was that shit. That doesn’t help Eva, Becky, OR the women’s division. What the fuckshit taco.

* TO THE BACK – Renee Young interviews Carmella who says Eva is faking. Natalya interrupts, she namedrops Bret Hart because her dad the Anvil isn’t big enough. Carmella has enough and challenges Natalya to a match later.

So we’re coming up on an hour of TV and only one match with 7 minutes of wrestling. I thought this was the show that was going to focus on WRESTLING?

– AMERICAN ALPHA VS. THE VAUDEVILLAINS –

This is Alpha’s WWE TV debut. The Villains get a jobber intro already in the ring which pretty much kills their whole shtick. JBL compares Alpha to the Steiners. Gable does some nice riding on the mat and some slick ass counters. JBL namedrops Nick Gulas since they’re in Nashville, where tag teams thrived. Nice double team spots by Alpha send the Villains outside. Gotch trips up Gable and the Villains take over. Gable gets a tag to Jordan who unleashes the most wickedly awesome of fucking suplexes. Capture suplex. Insane fucking overhead belly to belly launch. Taz and the Steiners would be proud. Alpha hits their back suplex into the bridge finisher and win the match in 3 and a half minutes at best.

Winners are American Alpha

Great debut for AA, bad premonition for the Villains future. They were essentially jobbers here. Alpha looked great with their Steiners meets Rockers spots.

* They show the John Cena – Teen Choice shit again.

– AJ STYLES AND JOHN CENA SEGMENT –

So I forgot to mention this earlier, but they’re showing these facts about each wrestler on the side of the screen as the wrestlers come to the ring. It really doesn’t do shit for me but whatever. AJ rushes into the promo and Cena’s music hits right away. This seems a little rushed for time. Anyway, Styles has a message for Cena. A SOCCER MOM HAIR chant starts. Gay. Styles message is that he doesn’t want Cena here. Styles takes a shot at TNA in the process. Styles craps on the kids and their parents for buying Cena merchandise or some shit. Styles shits on Participation Trophies. Amen to that brother.

Styles calls Cena a fraud. The future goes through Cena. AJ went through Cena at MITB and Cena is still in the way. Cena defends the kids. Cena is still here out of love for the business and the fans. In so many words Cena talks about AJ leaving TNA, leaving New Japan, but Cena is loyal to WWE and he’d never leave his home. Cena says he’s loyal and AJ is not.

Styles wants Cena at Summer Slam, no Club, no excuses, one on one. Cena accepts. When AJ wins Cena needs to say AJ is better than him. If Cena doesn’t say it he’s a liar. If he does say it he’s a loser. Either way Styles wins.

Styles struggled early in the promo. Cena cut some good shit for sure. Styles last portion of the promo was good as well. This started off iffy but Cena saved it and AJ took it home so they accomplished what was needed.

– RANDY ORTON VS. FANDANGO –

There’s security all around the ring just in case Brock Lesnar shows up. Derrrr. Tyler Breeze is out there too. Garvin stomp right away. Breeze distracts and Fandango hits a dropkick. Fandango takes over but not for long. Snap powerslam to Fandango and one for Breeze too. Draping DDT on Fandango.

BROCK LESNAR IS AT RINGSIDE!

RKO to Fandango.

BROCK STORMS IN — F5 TO ORTON!

Winner by DQ is Randy Orton.

Match was 3 minutes.
Shane rushes out with more security and Brock leaves willingly.

Some good security was. Brock didn’t even get to kill any of them. What shit. That segment was too tame.

* We see footage of Brock and Paul Heyman being escorted out of the building. Apparently they parked in the wrestler’s garage area.

* Heath Slater interrupts Daniel Bryan and thinks he should be at Summer Slam. Nothing is bigger than Heath Slater. If Slater wins a match next week he gets a contract with Smackdown Live. He guesses his opponent will be Jumping Marty Lunde (Arn Anderson’s real name). Out of nowhere Rhyno GORES Slater in the office. Slater will face Rhyno next week.

* Renee Young interviews Dean Ambrose. Dean trashes Ziggler some more. This time for ruining his own push after a week rather than a couple months like in the past. Ouch.

* Some chick named Charli Caruso tries to interview Randy but Orton just shoves a door and walks away.

– NATALYA VS. CARMELLA–

Mella does her Enzo impersonation. Natalya attacks her in the aisle. Natalya beats the shit out of her and Sharpshooters her on the floor. Two women’s matches and NEITHER FUCKING MATCH TAKES PLACE. WHAT IN THE FUCKING WORLD?

No. fucking seriously. Who the fuck books two matches (much less the same type of matches) on the same fucking show and neither of them happens. Find new Smackdown writers pronto.

This entire show has been two good promos, the rest have been mainly squashes and matches that don’t happen.

* Shane and Bryan continue to try and talk Ziggler out of putting his title shot on the line. He said they don’t believe in them and says ‘screw you’ to both of them. He’s pissed that nobody believes in him. I’m cool with this turning into a Ziggler heel turn but not at the cost of the Summer Slam spot.

– DOLPH ZIGGLER VS. BRAY WYATT –

Ambrose on commentary. This is for Ziggler’s #1 contender spot at Summer Slam. This match goes to the floor right away and Wyatt clotheslines Ziggler’s face off. To the ring. Wyatt controls. Ziggler tries a roll up and Wyatt takes an awkward bump and looks like he reinjured his calf. FUCK.

Wyatt rolls to the ropes pissed off and starts headbutting the the mat. FUCK DAMN FUCK.

They rush to commercial and surprisingly they return with Wyatt giving Dolph a Superplex. Thank God Bray is still okay. Something was definitely fucked up before the break though. Dolph comes back, Stinger Splash, neckbreaker, jumping elbow. Wyatt fights back and a senton gets 2.

Wyatt unties a turnbuckle pad, ref backs him up into a ZIGZAG that gets 2. They trade some falls. High angle Urinage from Wyatt gets 2.

Dolph is up and yanks the pad off the corner buckle. The both tease hitting it and the ref WATCHES Dolph drive Wyatt into the exposed steel buckle. Superkick ends it in 12 minutes.

Winner is Dolph Ziggler

Ziggler shit talks Ambrose from the ring. Ambrose watches from the announce table.

ERICK ROWAN ATTACKS ZIGGLER.

Ambrose tries to save but Rowan somehow lays him out too. Not bad for a jobber.

Wyatt is back up and Ziggler gets another Sister Abigail to end the show with Wyatt doing his pose.

I guess this leads to Ziggler and Ambrose being forced to team against Wyatt and Rowan next week. That’s just a guess.

Goodnight all.

WWE Raw Pre-Show Notes For 8/1/16

Before we begin, just want to say it’s good to be back. Sorry I missed last week, but was out of town visiting family for a week or so. Was able to watch Raw on DVR on Tuesday and sorry I missed out on the reviewing of the Banks/Charlotte match and Finn Balor’s debut… But things continue to move forward and it’s time for week two of the new era Raw Brand…

– WWE.com exclusive, New Day are entering the arena when Tom Phillips stops them. For some reason New Day has to face Anderson and Gallows tonight with the third New Day member barred from ringside. And they never thought of doing this before?

– The preshow this week features Stanford, Jerry Lawler and Lita. Poor, poor King. Booker is MIA this week because he was hospitalized over the weekend but is apparently fine. Lita is f’n LOST right out of the gate.

– Brock Lesnar returns tonight in time to hype his Summer Slam match with RKO.

– Recap of last week’s match with Banks winning the title from Charlotte. Corey Graves pre-taped interview with Sasha Banks airs. Sasha will further address the fans tonight on Raw.

– They replay the entire WWE Universal Title angle from last week with the Fatal Four Ways and Reigns vs. Balor.

– Rusev & Lana were married. Yay.

– Darren Young & Titus O’Neil are chatting backstage. They’re facing each other tonight. O’Neil wants to know when Young was great to begin with in order to be great again… I smell a Titus heel turn.

Well that’s that….

THE WWE RAW REPORT 8/1/16 FROM ATLANTA, GA

– Show opens with a highlight video of last week’s episode. The 4 Ways, Balor over Reigns, Sasha wins the gold. Raw then opens with the new song and video. I’m not a fan… I’m also not a fan of this new announcer position away from the ring. Let’s see how long it lasts this time…

SASHA BANKS / CHARLOTTE / JERICHO / ENZO / FOLEY IN-RING SEGMENT

– “You Deserve It” chants begin. About this time last year at NXT Takeover, Bayley vs. Sasha OWNED the show, and this year at Summer Slam Sasha gets to do it again….. Charlotte interrupts, noticeably absent is her troll companion. “You tapped out” chants. Charlotte says she doesn’t need her resting home dad or Dana Brooke to beat Sasha. Charlotte says she will beat Banks at SSlam by herself. She refers to Banks as a one night stand. Banks says Charlotte was the productio of a one night stand.. LMAO…

Chris Jericho interrupts by saying “quiet” 80 times… Jericho calls Sasha a little punk. lol. Jericho puts over Charlotte’s lineage and says she is better than Ric Flair. Jericho asks who Ric Flair has ever beat. lol. Jericho wants to know what makes Sasha a Boss. He calls her the boss of stupid idiot fans. Jericho says Sasha isn’t a boss, but rather a brat.

Enzo Amore interrupts… lol. Enzo is over with the crowd. Enzo asks to make a Certified G deposit in banks… Jesus Christ…

Charlotte describes Enzo’s penis… Jericho wants to spell it out – SAWFT. LOL. Back and forth stuff. Enzo says watching Jericho speak is like passing kidney stone. He compares Jericho’s promos to watching an iphone response typing but never sending. lol… More comedy between Enzo & Jericho. It’s actually pretty fun, though running a little long.

Mick Foley interrupts. Foley isn’t THE Boss, but he is their boss. Foley books Jericho & Charlotte vs. Enzo & Banks, and it’s next.

— COMMERCIAL BREAK —

– Kevin Owens has joined the announce team for this match.

MATCH #1: ENZO & SASHA BANKS VS. CHRIS JERICHO & CHARLOTTE
The ladies get things going with some solid back and forth for the first couple minutes. Kevin Owens trash talks Enzo Amore tons, apparently KO is mad Enzo interrupts him on the Smackdown Draft post show. Enzo tags in and sends Jericho outside. STEREO SUICIDE DIVES by Enzo & Sasha onto Jericho & Charlotte on the floor, and Raw goes to break.

Back from break, Jericho has control of Enzo. Enzo counters a bulldog by shoving Jericho into the corner. Amore takes over and gets some near falls. Jericho catches a middle rope dropkick and locks in the Walls of Jericho. Enzo gets the ropes to break. Enzo comes off the top right into a nice Jericho dropkick and both men are down. Hot tag to the chicas. Banks with the double knee in the corner. Back Stabber. Dana Brooke runs up to the apron, Banks knocks her off. Jericho tries to interfere but Banks lays out Jericho as well, but the distraction allows Charlotte to his Natural Selection for the win in 9:53.

After the match, Jericho lays out Enzo with a Code Breaker. Big Cass rushes down but Jericho bails. Kevin Owens is still on commentary, still not sure what this is leading to for him.

— COMMERCIAL BREAK —

MATCH #2: BRAUN STROWMAN VS. EVAN ANDERHOLM?

I’m not sure if that last name is correct. Byron Saxton asks Evan why he’s doing this. Evan is getting grand for this, and if he wins, he gets 5 grand… lol… Okay. $250 either way is more like it. Strowman MURDERS the smaller guy and hits the reverse chokeslam in 57 seconds. Strowman’s music starts with him roaring…

– Backstage Steph and Foley are complimenting each other. Mark Henry interrupts. Henry is excited for the new era and he made some renovations in the Hall of Pain. It’s time for a reopening, he says. Steph and Foley said they brought Mark back just as a mentor, basically he’s washed up. Henry says he has one more run. Foley books Henry vs. Rusev for the US Title tonight.

– Golden Truth are playing Pokemon Go, well R-Truth is. They have a match tonight, Goldust wants Truth to focus and he’ll help him catch Pokemon later if they win.

— COMMERCIAL BREAK —

MATCH #3: GOLDEN TRUTH VS. THE SHINING STARS
Poor Colons, they don’t even get an entrance or even an announcement. Way to re-brand them. Goldust is doing well handling both until the number game becomes too much. The Stars take over. Truth continues to play Pokemon Go. Goldust still manages to take both men out again. Goldy goes for the hot tag and Truth walks away playing the game and accidentally misses it. Truth drops his phone and has to drop off the apron to get it and Goldust can’t tag up. One of the Colons rolls Goldy up and pins him in 2:00 even.

After the match Goldust tries to speak with Truth but Truth loses focus and goes off hunting Pokemon again… Crowd didn’t make a frickin noise for this shit. JUST LET THEM F’N WRESTLE!!!!!

— COMMERCIAL BREAK —

FINN BALOR / SETH ROLLINS IN-RING SEGMENT

Michael Cole interviews Finn Balor in the ring. His “titan tron” video reds BALOR CLUB WORLDWIDE. Sort of conflicting with “The Club”, no? Foreshadowing? Eh.

Seth Rollins immediately comes out and dismisses Cole. Rollins is going to interview Balor. Rollins says everything Finn did was great but Rollins did it better. He compares Balor to bad Hollywood remakes like Ghostbusters, and calls himself Bill Murray to Balor’s Melissa McCarthy. Rollins riles up the crowd by ripping on the Braves.

Everywhere Balor has gone there’s been a Seth Rollins, and everywhere he’s went he’s beaten those guys and taken their spots. Seth says he’s better than all those other people Finn is alluding to. There’s arguing over who THE MAN is. Rollins says the Universal title will be handed to him at Slam. Blor says the only thing Seth will have handed to him at Slam is his AAASSSSSS.

Seth tries to sneak attack Balor, but Finn fights him off fast. Seth retreats.

— COMMERCIAL BREAK —

MATCH #4: U.S. CHAMPION RUSEV (w/LANA) VS. MARK HENRY
Well, one of two things is going to happen here. Either A. Henry will do the job and solidify the final leg of his career in the enhancement spot. OR B. Henry will win the title here and drop it back at Slam. And the ONLY reason I say “B” is an option is because Henry will be representing the WWE during the Summer Olympics this year, and you know how much they love their publicity. So Henry as champ at the Olympics sounds like something Vince would do. Or, maybe Mark just jobs. We’ll see…

Lana is sporting some wedding bride meets whore outfit. No complaints. Henry overpowers Rusev early. Henry does the rope straddle on the back of Rusev’s head and slides outside to take us to break.

Back from break, Rusev has taken over and looks to apply the Accolade. Henry powers out of the attempt. Henry makes a comeback briefly before Rusev lands a spinning heel kick and the big jumping kick floors Henry. Back stomp and the Accolade is applied. Mark taps fast like a beeeeotch. Oh well. Thanks for playing Mark. Match went a little over 6:30 total.

– Rusev mocks Henry as an Olympic hero. Rusev says America wins at the Olympics because they’re rigged. He runs down America and the Olympics… This would be an AWESOME set up for a Kurt Angle return… But instead we get….

ROMAN REIGNS… PUKE…. BLAH….

They WON’T STOP putting Reigns in positions where they think the fans HAVE to cheer him. The two have a stare down, Rusev tries to leave but Reigns won’t let him. Rusev finally attacks Reigns, BUT… you guessed it… Reigns battles back and Rusev retreats to dodge a Superman Punch… But Reigns darts outside for a Superman Punch on the floor. Well, this is a step down for Roman.

– NIA JAX video airs

— COMMERCIAL BREAK —

MATCH #5: TITUS O’NEIL VS. DARREN YOUNG (W/BOB BACKLUND)
Titus just mauls over, plows over, and slaughters young with power spots and all his signature stuff. Young hasn’t gotten a move in. Finally DYoung counters the Clash of the Titus with a sunset flip for a near fall. Then Titus escapes Young’s finisher and rolls him up with a hook of the tights for the win in 4:00. Blah

– Backstage, Steph and Foley are chatting. Shamues interrupts, he deserved a US Title shot, not Henry. Cesaro joins in. The two verbally go at it. Foley makes a match between the two tonight to prove themselves and the winner will get a title shot “in the near future”.

— COMMERCIAL BREAK —

MATCH #6: NIA JAX VS. ARIEL MUNROE
SQUASH. Jax wins with a fireman’s carry into a forward powerslam. Match was 1:00. Byron interviews Nia post match but she just beats up on Monroe some more.

– Backstage Bob Backlund is questioning Titus’ principles. Titus says that gets you nowhere. O’Neil threatens to beat up Bob’s “old ass”. Darren Young rushes in and knocks Titus on his ass. Backlund pulls Young off.

– Xavier Woods will be sitting out the tag match, even though this is his hometown and his parents are in the crowd.

— COMMERCIAL BREAK —

MATCH #7: TAG CHAMPS NEW DAY VS. LUKE GALLOWS & KARL ANDERSON
After a quick promo Woods is sent to the back. Big E tries to get the one up, but it ends up back and forth. Gallows yanks Kofi off the apron to prevent Big E from tagging and the heels take over. Gallows and Anderson become distracted, Anderson is rolled up and PINNED in 1:20… No seriously… a minute and 20 seconds.

Post match Gallows and Anderson lay out all three New Day…. Their finisher is now “The Boot of Doom”, ugh. Woods tries to make the save again, but Anderson lays him out with a phantom knee… No seriously Anderson missed a knee BY A MILE and Woods still sold it like he got shot.

Then they come back for more, crotching Big E on the steel post. They’re the Club. Too Sweet.

— COMMERCIAL BREAK —

MATCH #8: CESARO VS. SHEAMUS
Back and forth solid stuff to start from both guys. Shemaus goes outside to dodge an uppercut train, so Cesaro does a running somersault dive off the apron. Sheamus ends up posting Cesaro. Sheamus with a shitty shoulder tackle off the top for 2. Crowd is dead for Sheamus. Cesaro with an INSANE delayed dead weight suplex… Cole calls it FREAKY STRONG… I tend to agree… That was insane… Sheamus still battles back and wants people to respect the hawk. Sheamus toys with Cesaro and ends up eating a springboard spinning uppercut. Sheamus with a tilt-a-whirl but Cesaro lands on his feet and hits the Neutralizer for the win in 6:00.

— COMMERCIAL BREAK —

We come back with Sheamus & Cesaro being pulled apart in the aisle. Ugh, don’t drag this on…

– HEATH SLATER & JINDER MAHAL are in the ring…. TWO MANNNN BAAAANNNND BABAY!!!!!

Mick Foley interrupts. He wants a Battle of the Band, with the winner getting a contract to Raw. Slater says they won’t fight, but Mahal tells the ref to ring the bell.

MATCH #9: HEATH SLATER VS. JINDER MAHAL
Mahal lands a big boot and pins the unsuspecting Slater in like 10 seconds… Mahal gets a Raw contract. Crowd does nothing. Slater gets screwed!

– Backstage, Chris Jericho runs down Enzo & Cass and says he has someone to watch his back. When Tom Phillips asks him who, Jericho is caught off guard and says Jimmen Marvinluder…. or something…. Kevin Owens interrupts and says Jericho just made that name up… But KO informs Jericho that he has his back… Summer Slam here we come.

— COMMERCIAL BREAK —

MATCH #10: SETH ROLLINS VS. SAMI ZAYN
Zayn gets the upper hand early and Seth goes to the floor. Rollins lures Sami outside and takes control. Rollins crotches Zayn on the top rope and knocks him off to the floor as we go to break about 4 minutes in.

Back from break, Cole informs us Rollins has been in control the entire time. Rollins uses Finn Balor’s Slingblade, not sure if it was intentional or not. Zayn blocks a Pedigree but Seth hits the powerbomb in the corner. Rollins tries a superkick but Zayn pops up and lands a lariat. Sami with the Michinoku Driver gets 2. BLUE THUNDER BOMB GETS 2!!!

Zayn blocks another Pedigree and hits a top rope Tornado DDT!!! Seth bails outside to dodge the HELLUVA KICK… Zayn with the somersault dive over the top rope drops Rollins. Back inside, Zayn misses the Helluva Kick in the corner and Rollins capitalizes with the Pedigree for the win in 11:40.

Really solid TV match, but Seth needs a new finisher, fast.

– Paul Heyman is shown leaving Brock’s locker room. They’re next.

— COMMERCIAL BREAK —

– Puff Daddy is on Raw next week, for whatever reason.

BROCK LESNAR RETURNS

We come back with Paul Heyman in the ring putting over Brock. He introduces “The Beast of the Brocktagon” pretty quickly. Brock is out and Heyman does a great job (as usual) shilling Brock vs. Orton at Summer Slam. Heyman talks about the RKO outta nowhere and how people say it could end a match at any moment. Heyman goes on this minute long spiel about how Orton will NEVER hit an RKO outta nowhere at Summer Slam, and wouldn’t you know it.

Randy Orton pops up OUTTA NOWHERE and hits an RKO….

Foley, Steph, and security come out but Orton takes off through the crowd and celebrates at the top of the lower deck. Lesnar is back up and pissed. There’s chaos as Raw goes off the air. Didn’t last a week before one brand crossed onto the other… But it was needed for this particular match.

WWE Smackdown Live Draft Results – July 19, 2016

0

Hey guys, Bobby “The Brain” Mayo here and getting ready to pop my Crazy Max cherry on the very first edition of Smackdown Live. Oh yeah, and by the way, there’s a frickin Pre Show, Post Show, Second Screen Experience, and that Draft thingy all going on over a four hour period of time. No pressure or anything for a first timer. heh

So it’s 7pm on the east coast here and we’re kicking this shit off with a Smackdown Live Pre Show. Expect draft hype out the ass.

SMACKDOWN PRE SHOW – THE BULLET POINTS

* Renee Young looks to be hosting, or whatever it’s called now. With her is Booker T, Corey Graves, and Lita. They’re going to be talking Draft during the second screen experience apparently. They revisit Raw with a clip of the introductions of the General Managers and then follow up with the rules for tonight’s draft.

* Scheduled for the show tonight – Seth Rollins gets a rematch with Dean Ambrose for the title. John Cena will also meet Luke Gallows.

* Tom Phillips interviews Dean Ambrose about the draft and the match with Rollins. You get the expected promo out of Dean here. We see some video replays from last night’s Raw with the double pin and Ambrose eventually announced as retaining the title. The announcers discuss who should be drafted first and what happens if you draft Ambrose first only to see him lose the title to Rollins later in the show tonight.

* We get a look at the Top 10 male and Top 10 female wrestlers available in the draft. Summer Rae. Wow. That’s reaching. Shows how shallow the talent pool really is. Tom Phillips interviews Natalya who obviously thinks she should be drafted first.

*** SPOILER ALERT BEGINS ***

There is a section of floor seats tonight with “Hugger Section” signs placed on them. Even though it was expected it looks like Bayley is definitely getting drafted.

*** END SPOILER ALERT ***

* Tom Phillips talks with New Day. The announcers talk about what teams they’d draft together and who they’d split up.

Bray Wyatt vs. Xavier Woods has been added to the show tonight.

* They show a Top 10 list of shocking WWE Draft Picks of the past. I barely remember any of these.

* Tom Phillips interviews Sami Zayn. He doesn’t want to be on the same show as Kevin Owens. If he had one NXT pick it would have to be Finn Balor. Then Phillips interviews the Social Outcasts. Please disband this shit tonight.

The rules for the WWE Draft are as follows:
1. Raw has the first overall pick
2. Since SmackDown Live is a two-hour show and Raw is three hours, for every two picks SmackDown Live receives, Raw will receive three picks
3. Tag teams count as one pick unless a Commissioner/General Manager specifically only wants one member of the team
4. Six draft picks will be made off the NXT roster

We get a peak at the arena with the Commissioners and General Managers making their way out to make their first picks. It’s time!

WWE SMACKDOWN LIVE DEBUT EPISODE

July 19, 2016 – WORCHESTER, MASS.

We’ve got Shane & Bryan / Stephanie & Foley out here to make their picks.

#1 DRAFT PICK – RAW SELECTS… SETH ROLLINS!

#2 DRAFT PICK – SMACKDOWN SELECTS… DEAN AMBROSE!

#3 DRAFT PICK – RAW SELECTS… CHARLOTTE!

#4 DRAFT PICK – SMACKDOWN SELECTS… AJ STYLES!

#5 DRAFT PICK – RAW SELECTS… FINN BALOR!

John Cena makes his way out and eyeballs both sides since nobody drafted him. Cena is ready for action against Gallows.

– JOHN CENA VS. LUKE GALLOWS –

For some reason Enzo & Cass get their own intro before the match and do their gimmick. The Club is outside the ring for Gallows and Cena has Enzo/Cass in his corner. Something really weird happens. They go to commercial during the match but they keep fucking showing the match during the break in a split screen. Fucking Awesome! It’s fucking picture in picture. Gallows spending the entire break owning Cena. How awesome would it be if they kept this shit up every week? The advertisements end and soon after Cena makes his signature comeback. Gallows escapes the AA and hits a something that looks like a superkick. Both teams get up on the apron and step in the ring while Cena and Gallows lay prone. Enzo & Cass eliminate Styles & Anderson from the ring and Cena hits the AA on Gallows and beats him like nothing after 6 minutes of action.

Winner is Cena

If it weren’t for the split screen action during the commercial we would have seen maybe 2 minutes of this match. Gallows dominated most of it but still came off like a jobber against Super Cena.

So far on the second screen experience Seth Rollins, Charlotte and Dean Ambrose have been interviewed. Naturally they’re all happy with where they were drafted.

#6 DRAFT PICK – RAW SELECTS… ROMAN REIGNS!

#7 DRAFT PICK – SMACKDOWN SELECTS… JOHN CENA!

#8 DRAFT PICK – RAW SELECTS… BROCK LESNAR!

#9 DRAFT PICK – SMACKDOWN SELECTS… RANDY ORTON!

#10 DRAFT PICK – RAW SELECTS… NEW DAY!

– RUSEV AND THE MIZ VS. ZACK RYDER AND DARREN YOUNG –

Hot Lana and goofy Bob Backlund are in their respective corners for this Champions vs. Challengers tag match. The challengers are all over the Miz starting things out until Rusev distracts and Ryder takes a beating and then some. Ryder floats over a suplex and hits a neckbreaker on Rusev. D-Young gets the tag and the crowd goes mild. Young lands the Gut Check on Miz but Rusev breaks it up. Ryder with the Rough Ryder on Miz. Zack with a dropkick off the apron onto Rusev outside. Miz is distracted and Young locks in the Crossface Chicken wing. Backlund goes nutty outside and riles up the fans. Miz TAPS! The challengers win in 4 minutes.

Winners are the Young Ryders

There was nothing to this match. Gave Young a notch in the belt going into the title match at Battleground. I didn’t think so but there may be (and I only mean may be) something to this pairing with Backlund.

Second screen experience sees the Network panel talk with John Cena for a long period of time. Cena is talking about his original move from Smackdown to Raw and now heading back all these years later. When that ends the Social Outcasts are pissed they still haven’t been drafted.

– BRAY WYATT VS. XAVIER WOODS –

Much like the Cena vs Gallows match, both teams have their partners at ringside. Wyatt appears to hypnotize Woods long enough to get the advantage and a beat down commences. Bray just beats on Woods and pounds him into the ground. Senton connects. Bray toys with Xavier and Woods rallies back. A high knee to the jaw stuns Wyatt. Woods goes for the handspring clothesline but jumps into Wyatt in the spider walk. It freaks Woods out and he eats defeat with Sister Abigail in 6 minutes.

Winner is Bray Wyatt

Bray dominated the entire match. Woods made a comeback with some punches and a knee and that was it. I’m glad Wyatt looked strong but I think these guys could have had a good match. They told the story they needed to for Battleground so I’m not mad attem. Was glad that nobody interfered.

Second screen experience shows Finn Balor interviewed at the NXT training center. The entire NXT roster is sitting and watching the draft waiting for their name to be called.

– DEMON KANE VS. KEVIN OWENS –

Owens has a fit with Foley about not drafting him yet. As KO heads to the ring he is attacked by Sami Zayn and they fight into the ring. Owens throws Zayn into Kane. But Kane with a double chokeslam for both men. There ya go. Let’s bury the two young guys getting the push for the old guy who can’t bump and barely even wrestles on TV anymore.

#11 DRAFT PICK – RAW SELECTS… SAMI ZAYN!

#12 DRAFT PICK – SMACKDOWN SELECTS… BRAY WYATT!

#13 DRAFT PICK – RAW SELECTS… SASHA BANKS!

#14 DRAFT PICK – SMACKDOWN SELECTS… BECKY LYNCH!

#15 DRAFT PICK – RAW SELECTS… CHRIS JERICHO!

Sasha Banks is interviewed on the second screen network program. She won’t reveal her partner for Battleground but tells the interview dude to just watch. Becky Lynch talks with Tom Phillips. How the hell she got drafted 14th overall blows my fucking mind. I’d draft her #1 overall to ride me on my bed for 14 hours but 14 overall as a wrestling commodity? Puh-leaze. Chris Jericho is the next one to response and he’s pissed to be drafted third round and after people like Sami Zayn. What an ass clown.

– HANDICAP MATCH: CHARLOTTE / DANA BROOKE VS. SASHA BANKS –

Banks is owning both girls and flat knocks the shit out of Charlotte on the floor. Dana blindsides Sasha and the numbers factor comes into play. Sasha sends Brooke into Charlotte and Charlotte gets a blind tag. Bank Statement on Brooke, but Charlotte jumps in and hits Natural Selection and pins Banks in 2 minutes.

Winners are Charlotte & Brooke

Hm, no Bayley. Well that sucked.

#16 DRAFT PICK – RAW SELECTS… RUSEV & LANA!

#17 DRAFT PICK – SMACKDOWN SELECTS… THE MIZ & MARYSE!

#18 DRAFT PICK – RAW SELECTS… KEVIN OWENS!

#19 DRAFT PICK – SMACKDOWN SELECTS… BARON CORBIN!

#20 DRAFT PICK – RAW SELECTS… ENZO & CASS!

What the fuck kind of picks are these Smackdown picks? They get 2 fucking picks and it’s Miz and fucking Corbin? Raw gets 3 picks and wind up with 4 guys. Fucking Vince McMahon can’t fucking help but stockpile Raw. That round was utter bullshit.

So Smackdown was going to break the glass ceiling with these fucking picks? Cena and Orton need to break a ceiling? Ratings war my asshole. Fuck you Vince. Not only does Raw have the top ladies but they have the U.S. Title, the Womens Champ, the Tag Champs, the Cruiserweights, and more of the younger talent.

Smackdown’s last 3 picks were Becky Lynch as the top girl, Miz and Corbin.

FUCK YOU VINCE. JUST..FUCK YOU!

There’s some second screen interviews with New Day, Enzo & Cass, maybe some others. I don’t know I’ve been ranting about this bullshit last two rounds.

– CHRIS JERICHO VS. CESARO –

Good match going. Jericho with a top rope frankensteiner. Cesaro hits a Russian leg sweep off the second rope. Cesaro Swing. Jericho blocks a Sharpshooter but eats a double stomp. Somehow Jericho manages a Codebreaker as Cesaro tries a springboard uppercut. Pins Cesaro in like 4 minutes. SMH

Winner is Jericho

Well that really helped elevate Cesaro. Jericho puts everyone over for like 2 months until now. Go figure. This show tanked over the last half hour.

Apparently Natalya was supposed to have a match with Alicia Fox but when we return from the commercials Becky Lynch has attacked Natalya and is beating the shit out of her.

Smackdown hasn’t picked anything worth a shit since Pick #12. Let that marinate.

#21 DRAFT PICK – RAW SELECTS… THE CLUB!

#22 DRAFT PICK – SMACKDOWN SELECTS… AMERICAN ALPHA!

#23 DRAFT PICK – RAW SELECTS… THE BIG SHOW!

#24 DRAFT PICK – SMACKDOWN SELECTS… DOLPH ZIGGLER!

#25 DRAFT PICK – RAW SELECTS… NIA JAX!

Whose fucking coffee did Cesaro piss in?

Second screen interview with Rusev & Lana. Lana even makes a gay Raw shirt look sexy. Nice boobs. Sami Zayn also talks going to Raw.

We’ve got the 5 final draft picks on SD Live coming next and then the WWE Title match. All remaining draft picks will be covered on the post show and I will continue to post updates until the entire draft has concluded.

#26 DRAFT PICK – RAW SELECTS… NEVILLE!

#27 DRAFT PICK – SMACKDOWN SELECTS… NATALYA… WHAT THE FUCK? AN INSULT TO PAIGE.

#28 DRAFT PICK – RAW SELECTS… CESARO.. TO RAW? WELL THERE GOES THAT PUSH!

#29 DRAFT PICK – SMACKDOWN SELECTS… ALBERTO DEL RIO! CROWD IS BOOING THE SD PICKS. RIGHTFULLY SO.

#30 DRAFT PICK – RAW SELECTS… SHEAMUS!

Not counting Lana and Maryse, Raw has 22 wrestlers and Smackdown has 12. Smackdown only has 10 male wrestlers.

Second screen shows the Club talking about separating from AJ Styles but not before Battleground. Dolph Ziggler talks Smackdown. Big Show talks Raw. Niz Jax talks Raw from the performance center.

– WWE CHAMPION DEAN AMBROSE VS. SETH ROLLINS –

Rollins attacks Ambrose before the match starts and beats him down on the floor. Seth holds the title in the ring while Dean recovers on the floor and Smackdown goes to a break. Match starts as soon as we return and Seth attacks Dean again. Rollins uses the pre match beatdown to his advantage as he dominates Ambrose.

#WWEDraft is trending #1 worldwide. I’m betting #WWEDraftShit is trending #2.

The fight goes to the floor. Ambrose backdrops Rollins over the barricade and tries a running dive off the announcr’s table but misses. Now back in the ring Rollins lands a springboard knee and a big boot for a near fall. Hey WTF, why isn’t USA showing this match during the break? You show fucing Cena vs. Gallows in the break but not a fucking WWE Title match? WTF is that about? This show ha gone to all fucks now.

Smackdown is back. Rollins is working over Deano Machine-o. Ambrose explodes out of the corner with a nasty ass clothesline. Dean finally gets control but only momentarily. Seth hits that powerbomb into the buckles but misses a froggy splash. Dean with La Magistral cradle for a close fall. I chuckle as Lawler tries to pronounce magistral. Referee gets between the two men and Seth with an eye poke tries for a pedigree but Ambrose backdrops him outside.

Suicide dive and then a top rope plancha on Seth for good measure. Back inside Seth with a superplex and tries the Falcon Arrow but Dean counters with Dirty Deeds and gets the win in 13 minutes.

Winner and still champion Dean Ambrose

Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan rush to the ring to present their champion with a Smackdown t-shirt even though he was wearing one earlier on the second screen.

Time to head over to the WWE Network for the rest of the draft picks.

WWE Network Confirms Dean Ambrose Is Still WWE Champion

0

It had appeared that Seth Rollins became the new WWE Champion after defeating Dean Ambrose in the main event of tonight’s RAW from Providence, Rhode Island.

The finish to the match was screwy as it was not clear at first who got the pin after a referee bump. RAW ended with Stephanie McMahon announcing Rollins as the champion and RAW went off the air with Rollins holding the title and celebrating.

Following Raw, it was announced on the WWE Network that the match ended in a Draw as the referee reviewed a replay and saw that Ambrose and Rollins had their shoulders down. Ambrose goes into Battleground with the title.
