Billy Corgan Announces Departure From Independent Wrestling Promotion

0

Earlier this week, former Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan announced via Twitter that he has officially parted ways with Chicago-area independent wrestling promotion RESISTANCE-Pro. Corgan served as Creative Director for the promotion since 2011 and made a number of appearances at R-Pro events.

“For those interested, I’ve left RESISTANCE PRO WRESTLING, officially and unofficially. Details to follow in the coming weeks”

Corgan sent out a follow-up tweet shortly thereafter, informally addressing those who he’d worked with during his time at R-Pro:

“And though this is by no means a way to reach them, I’d like to thank the talented wrestlers, managers, and valets I’ve worked with”

In early 2014, AMC formally announced its intention to air a reality series based on the promotion. RESISTANCE-Pro Co-owner Gabriel Baron spoke exclusively to WrestlingINC.com regarding the AMC deal in May and that entire interview is archived here. The show was scrapped by AMC in October.

Both Corgan and RESISTANCE-Pro have indicated they will provide more details regarding their parting of ways at some point in the near future. RESISTANCE-Pro’s next show is scheduled for January 15, 2015 in Merrionette Park, Illinois. More information on that show will be provided through the promotion’s official site.
