Tonight’s show opens with a recap of Roode’s title defense against MVP and the fallout with Bobby Lashley. Tenay tells us there’s Knockouts action on deck and a new X-Division champ will be crowned tonight. Roode heads to ringside carrying the title…

Roode tells the live crowd that he’s ready to fight tonight and challenges Lashley to a street fight and follows up with the obligatory, “Get your ass out here right now!” Lashley’s music hits and it might just be on like Donkey Kong, children.

Lashley hits the ramp and Roode meets him halfway. They brawl into the arena as Lashley rings Roode’s bell with a steel chair. Security gets involved and eventually separates the two as we go backstage for a promo from Ethan Carter. He says he’s going to mess up Rockstar Spud something awful later on. A voice-over from Tenay explains that Impact Wrestling will return to Spike in two weeks for some flashback episodes. Then we get a promo about Havok’s reign of terror. The three-way Knockouts title match is next.

Triple-Threat Match for the Knockouts Title: Taryn Terrell vs. Gail Kim vs. Havok
Terrell and Kim go at Havok in separate attacks and she fends them both off. They keep at it and Havok eventually puts Terrell down for a spell to narrow her focus on Kim. After doing a good deal of damage, she works over Terrell. Kim locks in the octopus submission hold and Terrell stretches Havok’s legs. The holds are broken and Havok gets outside. Taryn flies after her with a cross-body and Havok catches her in the air. Gail follows suit and takes them both out. Bodies are everywhere as we go to break. Back in the ring, it’s Taryn and Gail battling it out as Havok recovers. They go at it hard, exchanging blows. Havok pulls Terrell outside and drops her on the guardrail. Gail attacks Havok next and gets powerbombed on the floor by Havok. Yeowtch. All three women get back in the ring and Havok starts to celebrate destroying her opponents. She lays Kim and Terrell side by side and goes up top, delivering a splash and covering both but they kick out. Gail and Taryn team up again and try to put Havok over the top rope. Kim ends up pushing Havok over the top and goes outside with her but lands on her feet. Terrell hits her when Kim tries to get back in and then Taryn fetches her and rolls Kim back in. They go back and forth until Terrell sets Kim up for a superplex. Havok slides in and turns it into a super-powerbomb. She lays her competitors side by side again and misses with a splash. Havok sets up the women for a double chokeslam but they avoid it and fight back. Gail hits “Eat the Feet” on Havok and Terrell lands a neckbreaker and covers the champ. Kim pulls her off, so Taryn pins Gail and eventually gets the three-count and the win.
Result: Taryn Terrell wins via pinfall.

After the break, we get another look at Samoa Joe relinquishing the X-Division title because he was not medically cleared to compete. Another recap follows chronicling the hullabaloo between Bobby Roode and Lashley earlier tonight and after hearing directly from Mr. Roode, we head back to ringside.

Chris Melendez vs. Kenny King
The guys lock up off the bell and then break for a stare-down. When they meet the second time, there’s some grappling and King works Melendez into the ropes and a break follows. After they mix it up some more, King plants Melendez on the mat. They go at it again and Melendez slowly gains an advantage, prompting King to head outside for a rest. Melendez sticks his head through the ropes and King grabs his face and rakes it before heading back inside. He works Sarge on to the mat and does further damage off the ropes. Melendez surges back and gets all fired up, hitting King with a fisherman’s suplex but King kicks out. Sarge gets King up on his shoulder for a coup de grace and MVP interferes with a steel chair, prompting the DQ.
Result: Chris Melendez wins via DQ due to interference by MVP.

Post-match, MVP and King beat on Melendez for a while until Anderson runs in for the save.

Spud says that he understands EC3 requests his presence in the ring and we get more commercials.

After a short recap of the Melendez match, EC3 hits the ramp for some business. Tyrus is along for the ride. Carter is at his best on the mic, saying that last week, he slapped Jeremy Borash so hard that his whole family died.” Carter calls Spud out and orders Tyrus to wait outside the ring, offering Spud a free shot. Spud declines to punch Carter in the face, electing to kick him in the yam bags instead. After that, it’s almost all Carter and he picks apart the Brit. Tyrus hops in and puts Spud in the clutch as EC3 takes a mic and tells him he’s going to take Spud apart piece by piece, starting with an impromptu haircut. After trimming some of Spud’s locks, Carter and Tyrus head out.

Backstage, MVP ambushes Kurt Angle and Kenny King looks genuinely shocked. Commercial sign.

Back inside the venue, Bram and Tommy Dreamer are set to get it on.

Hardcore match: Tommy Dreamer vs. Bram
They waste little time getting into it, brawling outside the ring. Bram drops Tommy with a trashcan and then scouts his next move, Dreamer is busted open as Bram works him over on the ring apron. Tommy roars back, hitting Bram with a suplex on the floor and then smacks him with something metal as we head for another break. After the commercials, Bram is back on top. He slams Tommy’s head into the steps a bunch and Tommy leaves a pool of blood on the steel. They make it back inside and Tommy is gushing blood from his forehead as Bram works him over on the mat. Dreamer slows Bram’s roll with a clothesline and then smacks him good with a kendo stick. He crotches Bram on a chair and inflicts more punishment. Bram ends up on the Tree of Woe and Dreamer puts the trashcan into his face with a baseball slide. Bram comes back, this time sporting his own crimson mask and Tommy tries to put him away with a DDT but only gets a near fall. He produced a steel chair wrapped in barbed wire from underneath the ring but Magnus interferes to put the kibosh on that maneuver. The Brits double-team Dreamer until Al Snow emerges from the back and cleans house. Snow fights Magnus into the back and Dreamer rakes the cheese-grater across Bram’s head. Tommy positions the barbed-wire chair in the corner but Bram pushes him into it, hits a DDT and gets the win. Nasty.
Result: Bram defeats Tommy Dreamer via pinfall.

Backstage, Kurt Angle says there will be consequences and repercussions for MVP’s chicanery. More after these messages…

DJ Z vs. Tiger Uno vs. Manik vs. Low Ki
DJ Z takes on Low Ki and then Manik comes in to take some shots at low Ki. Tigre Uno and mix it up and Uno gets a near-fall. Uno sets Low Ki on the ropes and teases a superplex but it’s broken up. Manik works Tigre into an inverted surfboard and DJ Z tries to capitalize with a pin but Low Ki flies off the top rope and delivers a “Warrior’s Way,” laying everyone out. Low Ki and DJ Z fight outside and the others go at it inside. Manik goes out to join the fray and Tigre takes them all out with a twisting aerial move. Back inside the ring, Low Ki gets whooped on by Manik and DJ Z. Tigre goes to pin Manik but he gets a foot on the rope. Low Ki and Tigre duke it out on the ropes and Uno tries for a hurricanrana but Low Ki blocks it and hits the Ki Crusher followed by the pin.
Result: Low Ki wins via pinfall, earning the X-Division title.

After some ads, Kurt Angle charges out to the ring and addresses MVP. Angle says that he’s ready to settle the score with MVP because real men do their business in the ring. MVP comes out and tells Angle that he’s sick of it all and invites Angle to call the board and have him fired. Angle says he had no intention of firing MVP and commences to punching him in the head. King intervenes and MVP joins in as they give the Olympian a proper beatdown. Angle looks like he’s coming back and Anderson comes in to battle King. Lashley appears out of nowhere and spears Anderson as King celebrates. Roode runs out, takes out King and then takes on Lashley. The two exchange blows as the show winds down.

Latest On Daniel Bryan’s WWE Status, WWE Selling Off His Merchandise

0

Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

WWE has reduced the price of Daniel Bryan merchandise at live events by 60% to help clear it out. This could be another indication that Bryan isn’t expected back any time soon but they are also doing the same with Rey Mysterio, who is expected back, and Zack Ryder, who will be back in six months.

While Bryan is still featured on WrestleMania 31 promotional material, there is still no internal timetable for his return and there are no plans for him in the WrestleMania season storylines. WWE’s writers have been told not to figure Bryan into any programs until further notice.

Chris Jericho Negotiating A New WWE Deal

Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

We first reported that Chris Jericho will be returning to WWE in January before The Royal Rumble. We also noted that Jericho is being advertised for the January 17th WWE live event in Las Vegas, leading to speculation that he may be in the 2015 Royal Rumble match. Jericho will reportedly be appearing on other WWE live events beginning in January and the two sides are working on a deal right now.

The Wrestling Observer reports that WWE officials seem confident in a deal being reached as they’ve told WWE’s marketing department that Jericho is to work a full live event schedule during January and February.

The idea right now is that Jericho will be the “reverse Lesnar” in the sense that he only works live events and will not work TV or pay-per-view events during those two months. Plans can always change as Jericho didn’t want to appear on TV last week when he worked the UK tour because he didn’t want to come back and have his return not be a big deal. This may be the same reason why Jericho doesn’t want to work TV or pay-per-view events on this next return that’s being negotiated.

Jericho is not currently scheduled for WrestleMania 31, but would be able to appear as Fozzy’s European tour wraps on March 21st.

‘The Ugandan Giant’ Kamala Talks Life As A Double-Amputee, Negative Dealings With Vince McMahon

0

Source: Bleacher Report

BleacherReport.com has published a story looking at the rise and fall of “The Ugandan Giant” Kamala, who now lives his life as a double-amputee. In the article, the former WWE Superstar discusses his present circumstances and looks back at his lengthy wrestling career.

On November 7, 2011, Kamala, who’s real name is James Harris, had his leg amputated below the knee due to complications of high blood pressure and diabetes. His right leg was amputated the following spring. This was as a result of Harris going nearly 20 years without paying attention to his health.

Harris had been urged by his physicians to begin dialysis treatment after being diagnosed with diabetes in 1992. He ignored their advice, choosing instead to carry on with his life as if the disease wasn’t present within him. Poor eating habits pushed his weight past 400-pounds in 2002; a simple walk from the parking lot to his physician’s office caused him to become short of breath.

“‘If you don’t go on dialysis soon, you’re going to start losing body parts,'” the doctor told Harris.

“I wish I would’ve listened,” Harris now says.

A few days after noticing fluid leaking from his foot in September 2011, Harris went to a doctor and had three of his toes removed. Within a month of the surgery, Harris returned to the hospital to have his entire foot amputated. The recovery process was so painful that a few days later, he asked the doctor to remove the rest of his leg above the knee.

The pain was excruciating for Harris as screams echoed through the halls of Baptist Memorial Hospital the day after surgery. His dosage of anesthetics increased, and Harris’ wife, Emmer, tried to calm him down by clutching his hand. It did not work as Harris wailed in agony throughout the day while nurses plead with him to stop.

Harris endured the same ordeal the following spring by losing his right leg.

“I could hardly stomach it,” he says.

Medicaid paid for a $6,000 pair of prosthetic legs for Harris, but because of his great size, doctors struggled to attach them to his stumps. Rather than cling to false hope of walking again, Harris adjusted to life as a double-amputee.

“I didn’t even want to look down at first,” says Harris, who found the situation difficult to accept. “But when I came home (from the hospital), I would look down, and I’d cry a little. I’d think, ‘I’m not normal, am I? I’m not normal anymore. People are going to treat me like I’m not normal.’ But I made it through. I made it through.

“I still have crying spells, but they’re not as bad as they used to be.”

Harris has never been shy about expressing his displeasure about how he was treated in WWE, and does so again in this article. However, he now admits he was partly to blame.

Harris says his biggest mistake was leaving WWE without warning in 1987 due to unhappiness with pay, after feuding with Hulk Hogan and Jake “The Snake” Roberts. He now feels he should’ve handled things differently.

“I can understand now why Vince [McMahon] would’ve been upset,” he says.

Harris returned to the company in 1992, but it was still a struggle for him financially. Since WWE makes most performers pay their own hotel and rental car fees, there were nights when Harris would sleep in his vehicle so he wouldn’t have to pay for a room. He was released in July 1993, two weeks after his sister and his niece were murdered by his sister’s husband.

Asked to comment on its relationship with Harris, WWE released this statement:

“During his time at WWE and the other organizations he performed for, Jim Harris’s larger-than-life character, Kamala, resonated with fans around the world. Jim had several stints with WWE, where he was given every opportunity to succeed, often being paired with such legends as Hulk Hogan and The Undertaker.

“Ultimately, Jim was the one who made the decisions to leave WWE. WWE appreciates the contributions he made to our organization, and we send him our best wishes as he continues to fight health challenges.”

Harris hopes his relationship with WWE going forward is a positive one.

“A lot of the things I’ve said about the WWE…I don’t mean them,” Harris says. “I’m proud to say I worked there. I just always hoped that one day Vince would accept me like he did some of the other wrestlers.

“I wish things would’ve been better.”

Much more is contained in the article, with Harris discussing his day-to-day life in Senatobia, Mississippi, his early life, the creation of Kamala, wrestling the likes of Andre the Giant and Hulk Hogan, the WWE Hall of Fame, and his outlook on life now that he is no longer on top. Jim Ross, Jerry “The King” Lawler, “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase, Mick Foley and Koko B. Ware were also interviewed for the piece.
