Alberto Del Rio Officially Gone From WWE

0

Credit to Raj Giri

Alberto Del Rio is finished with WWE.

According to sources close to the situation, Del Rio informed WWE through his lawyer that he was opting out 60 days ago.

Del Rio was apparently frustrated with the empty promises he was given after being recruited to the company last summer. Del Rio had been promised a main event push, but instead was quickly put into a Mex-America angle that went nowhere, followed by being bundled as part of the mid card heel faction, the League of Nations.

As noted, WWE announced on August 17th that Del Rio and his real-life girlfriend, Saraya-Jade Bevis, a.k.a. Paige, were both suspended for 30 days for their first violations of the company’s Wellness Policy. The timing is interesting given that Del Rio had given his notice several weeks earlier, in late June.

Del Rio last wrestled for the company on the August 19th episode of SmackDown, where he faced John Cena. He is not expected to return to the company at all, and is free at the end of September to work anywhere in the United States. He will be able to work in Mexico and abroad imminently.

WWE Raw Pre-Show Notes 8/29/16

Before I begin just a quick shout out to the great Mr. Fuji… Thank you for the memories, and RIP.

– Stanford, Lawler, Lita, Booker T are in the studio. Lawler rips Colin Kaepernick early in the show… He says Kap is drawing attention by doing stupid things to take people’s mind off the fact that he sucks at football… I love it. lol

– Finn Balor won the Universal Title… Then relinquished it 24 hours later… Tonight there’s a Fatal 4 Way to determine the new champ… It appears now the 4 way has been changed to an ELIMINATION match…. Interesting. That actually makes me care a little more now that 3 guys have to job.

– Cesaro was pissed he’s stuck in a 7 series with Sheamus and didn’t get a title chance. No shit… Lawler says Cesaro is a great wrestler but the reason he isn’t pushed is because he needs to go to the mall and buy a personality… Ouch.

– Bayley debuted last week and will be facing Charlotte for the title. Sasha Banks joins via Skype to talk to the panel. Booker labels her as “injury prone like Wade Barrett, and now he’s gone”. Damn, these preshow hosts are tough… Sasha answers questions the best she can but she’s not really in Boss character….

– Mr. Fuji clip is played. They briefly talk Mr. Fuji.

THE WWE RAW REPORT 8/29/16 at the Toyota Center in Houston, TX

– Show opens with an RIP image of Mr. Fuji…

– Video plays of last week’s WWE Universal Title situation.

SETH ROLLINS / ROMAN REIGNS / BIG CASS / KEVIN OWENS SEGMENT

Raw kicks off with all four title challengers sitting in the ring with Corey Graves. Rollins immediately cuts Corey off to take over. Seth craps on Finn Balor and suggests he is the favorite to win tonight. Rollins doesn’t need to talk so he gives Kevin Owens the mic to get himself over. GIGANTIC “Fight Owens Fight” chant. Owens buries Graves, lol. Owens suggests Cass is tall but has no ability.

Cass and Owens go back and forth, it’s actually somewhat funny. Seth says Cass has no chance to win and even Enzo bet against him. Cass tells Seth that he has a small wiener, I think. They establish this is a elimination match.

Once all that is over Seth turns to Reigns and says the certainties in life are death, taxes, and Seth beating Reigns every time. Crowd boos Roman’s response, lol. Reigns doesn’t speak, he just attacks Owens… And it’s on with all four men brawling… It comes down to Cass and Reigns for a staredown before Rollins attacks… Reigns dumps Cass, Superman Punch to Rollins…. Reigns stands alone in the ring with the title… Enjoy the moment Roman, because you’re not winning the belt.

— COMMERCIAL BREAK —

– Backstage, Tom Phillips interviews Chris Jericho. Jericho puts over Owens as the next Universal Champion. Jericho proceeds to tell Neville he’s going to get…. Tom Phillips says “IT”… Jericho says IT doesn’t even make sense… Instead tonight Neville will get the gift of Jericho… Drink it in maaaaaaan. LOL

MATCH #1: CHRIS JERICHO VS. NEVILLE
Neville with a nice flying forearm early, and he catapults Jericho to the floor. Neville teases a dive but Jericho goes running. Back inside Neville hits an insanely HIGH cross body for 2. Jericho hides behind the referee and goes to the eyes of Neville. Jericho with a cheap shot and he takes over as we go to break.

Back from break, Jericho throws Neville off the top rope. Neville still manages to come back with a baseball slide knee on the apron and then an Asai Moonsault to the floor on Jericho. Springboard dropkick gets 2. Jericho counters a German and tries the Walls, but Neville wiggles free and drops Jericho with an enzuigiri. Jericho moves from Red Arrow, but Neville lands on his feet. Neville tries a Rana, but Jericho counters into the WALLS and gets the tap out in 11:00.

Really solid TV match.

– Bayley is walking in the back and she runs into New Day. They have fun. Dana Brooke rumbles in. They mock her. Dana namedrops Gallows and Anderson, New Day mock them too. Seems to be leading to a 6 person match tonight.

— COMMERCIAL BREAK —

MATCH #2: NIA JAX VS. HYAN
No idea how to spell the name of this girl (pronounced Hi-On)… Terrible one sentence promo from Hyan, or whatever her name is. She sounds HIGH ON something. Nia obliterates her and pins her with the fireman’s carry into the side slam in just over 1:00.

– Dear God, the “comedy” segments continue with Gallows and Anderson. They “used to be” doctors, now they work in a retirement home. Hence them retiring the Dudleys last week. New Day needs to retire as champions. Nurse Dana Brooke shows up. Then the segment abruptly ends. Ummm Okay.

— COMMERCIAL BREAK —

– A video hyping Seth Rollins for the Title match tonight.

MATCH #3: SAMI ZAYN VS. JINDER MAHAL
Zayn is selling his ankle from last week’s match with Rollins. Zayn controls early, hits a spin kick. Mahal powders and takes advantage of Zayn from behind. Jinder with a little offense before Zayn clotheslines him hard and lands an Exploder Suplex into the corner. Helluva kick ends it just like that in 3:00.

— COMMERCIAL BREAK —

– Charlotte joins commentary. They replay a part of Sasha Banks’ interview from the preshow. Charlotte comments. She’ll stay on for commentary for the next match.

MATCH #4: NEW DAY (w/WOODS) & BAYLEY VS. GALLOWS, ANDERSON, & DANA BROOKE
For the first time in my memory Dana actually looks pretty hot. Might be the nurses outfit. Bayley with La Magistral on Dana early for 2. Brooke makes sure not to miss her face on the turnbuckle this week. The men tag in. Big E launches Anderson around the ring. Then it’s Kofi’s turn for some quick moves. Kofi misses Trouble in Paradise but still lands a spinning kick to send Karl into their corner. Unicorn stampede. Bayley even joins in. New Day & Bayley clear the ring and dance as we go to break.

Back from break, the heels have control on Kofi for the next few minutes. Gallows knocks Big E off the apron to prevent a hot tag, but Bayley gets the hot tag moments later. Bayley hits her spots, Anderson stops the pin. Kofi with an insane five out onto Gallows. New Day wipe out Gallows and Anderson on the floor. Bayley to Belly on Dana in the ring ends this in 13:30.

– Cesaro interview. Nobody likes Sheamus…. True

— COMMERCIAL BREAK —

– Big Cass video hyping the title match tonight.

– In the ring Sheamus responds to Cesaro. He says Cesaro is desperate and blah blah blah. Sheamus is better.

MATCH #5: CESARO VS. SHEAMUS
This is match two in a series of….sigh… seven. Slow and boring. “Sheamus Sucks” chants. Sheamus sells his elbow. Cesaro sends Sheamus to the floor twice and we go to break.

Back from break, Irish Curse backbreaker gets 2. Cesaro comes back with Uppercut Mania all over the ring… They go outside, Sheamus backdrops Cesaro onto the apron and ring post… Nice bump by Cesaro who sells his back. Back inside Sheamus applies the Cloverleaf for the quick tap out in 13:00 or so.

The trainers check on Cesaro’s back post match. And since we;re not counting the first two weeks where Cesaro beat Sheamus, Sheamus is now up 2-0.

– We get a nice video on the passing of Mr. Fuji. BANZAI!

— COMMERCIAL BREAK —

– Kevin Owens video hyping the title match tonight.

MATCH #6: BRAUN STROWMAN VS. AMERICO
Americo is so scared he can’t speak to Byron. Americo is about 4’11” and 130 pounds in a cheap red, white and blue outfit and mask. Oklahoma Stampede, then a reverse Oklahoma Stampede, both of them just ridiculously stiff for no good reason. He throws Americo into the air and spikes his face into the mat like the Beverly Brothers. Pure death. This goes 45 seconds at best.

Braun rips the mask off of Americo.

— COMMERCIAL BREAK —

STEPHANIE MCMAHON / PAUL HEYMAN SEGMENT

Well, it was nice to go without her for 2 hours, I almost forgot she existed… But here comes Stephanie in a terrible dress. Paul Heyman interrupts quickly. Brock was fined a whopping $500 for his attack on Shane, so Heyman is paying Steph right now. He starts counting one dollars bills and throws the money on the canvas, lol. Stephanie swats a wad of cash out of the ring.

Steph says Brock provides value, but Heyman does not. Stephanie tells Paul that a storm is coming his way. Heyman informs Steph that Brock IS the storm. Heyman apologizes and talks for a bit. Steph accepts. Steph walks off while Heyman laughs and makes an evil smirk. Apparently she doesn’t see it on the GIANT SCREEN titan tron thingy in front of her face.

— COMMERCIAL BREAK —

– Roman Reigns video hyping the title match tonight.

MATCH #7: TITUS O’NEIL VS. DARREN YOUNG (w/BOB BACKLUND)
No crowd noise for Titus at all. Not really any crowd noise for Young either. Young goes right after Titus and Titus bails. Titus whips Young into the corner and Young takes the Harley Race/HHH bump over the top rope outside and takes a nasty bump by the camera man. Much like their last match, Titus just destroys Young the entire match. Titus gloats and winds up in a crucifix and Young wins the match out of nowhere in 4:00. Young wins and the crowd doesn’t make a single noise…

Titus attacks both Young & Backlund post match. Clash of the Titus on Darren. Backlund gets dropped… Same old shit.

How does this shit make Darren Young great? How does this shit make anyone even relatively okay?

– Backstage, Mick Foley thinks they should ban everyone from the Fatal 4 Way tonight. Stephanie agrees, all friends, partners, etc… are banned from ringside. Seth Rollins interrupts. Stephanie is selling this like they’re crowning the FIRST Universal Champion. I guess SummerSlam didn’t count. Stephanie backs Rollins.

— COMMERCIAL BREAK —

– Mick Foley & Stephanie at ringside for the main event. It’s only 10:26pm est, so this is going to be a long one.

FATAL 4 WAY ELIMINATION MATCH

FOR THE VACANT UNIVERSAL CHAMPIONSHIP

MATCH #8: SETH ROLLINS VS. ROMAN REIGNS VS. KEVIN OWENS VS. BIG CASS

Enzo accompanies Big Cass out as the last contestant in the match. They do their spiel on the ramp. The other three in the ring are SAWWWWFT. Enzo leaves ringside. The entrances and intros eat up about 7 minutes of time, and then we go to break to eat up another 3 minutes… So that knocked off 10 minutes of TV time. While we’re on commercials I might note I wouldn’t be surprised if Rusev comes out to cause Reigns his elimination.

Okay, so there doesn’t appear to be tags in this match so I’m obviously not going to try and call every spot. Four way brawl for the first several minutes leads to just Reigns and Cass int he ring. Crowd solidly in favor of Cass there. Cass blocks a Superman Punch and Big Boots Reigns face out of the ring… Nice! Rollins suicide dive onto Cass, Owens drops Rollins on the barricade. Reigns launches over the top rope for a dive onto Cass and KO. Raw goes to break.

Back from break, all 4 men are still outside. Owens then works over Cass in the ring. Rollins eventually pulls KO outside and sends him into the barricade. Seth drives Cass face first into the buckle. Reigns back in takes out Seth and KO, but Cass once again BIG BOOTS Reigns. lol. Cass starts Stinger Splashing everyone. He big boots KO off the apron. Empire Elbow to Rollins. I feel an elimination coming…

Cass goes for the Fall away slam but Reigns comes out of nowhere with a Superman Punch to Cass, then Rollins superkicks Cass, then Owens lands the Frog Splash on Cass, and big Cass is eliminated in 12:38. Crowd was happy Owens got the pin but wasn’t happy Cass is gone and Reigns is still there. Raw goes to break.

Back from break again, we get the suplerplex/powerbomb triple man spot. Owens rolls outside. Seth and Reigns battle. Rollins with a Falcon Arrow for a near fall on Roman. Rollins tries the Pedigree but is backdropped to the apron. Rollins with an enzuigiri and tries a springboard, but runs into the SUPERMAN PUNCH…1…………2………….Rollins kicks out!

Reigns tries a spear, runs into Seth. Enzuigiri by SRollins. KO comes in and superkicks Rollins. Cannonballs to both men by KO. Owens runs into a SUPERMAN PUNCH… 1……………2……………….KO kicks out.

KO tries the Pop Up Powerbomb, Reigns comes down with the SUPERMAN PUNCH again. KO rolls outside. Seth tries a pedigree on Reigns but Romn counters for a near fall. Drive By on Rollins. Superman Punch on KO outside…. SPEAR on the floor to Rollins… I smell another elimination coming.

IT’S HHH……….. HHH OUTTA NOWHERE…. HHH PEDIGREES REIGNS ON THE FLOOR. HHH throws Rollins into the ring. Seth pins Reigns in 23:46.

Now HHH throws KO into the ring and offers to help Seth beat down KO. HHH TURNS ON ROLLINS. PEDIGREE TO ROLLINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Owens looks shocked as fuck…

OWENS COVERS….

1………..2…………….3…………….

Owens wins in 26:00…

And after a great match with super crowd heat, the finish kills the entire fucking thing.

HHH eliminated 2 out of the 3 of the guys…

HHH hands KO the belt and celebrates with him.

HHH gets in the face of Mick Foley… Foley isn’t happy. Even Stephanie looks completely shocked… HHH leaves through the crowd…

Well I’m not sure what this does for Owens since HHH eliminated everyone for him. I’m not sure what this does for the title since it’s about as tainted of a title match as I’ve ever seen.

But the fans are excited that Owens is champion… “You deserve it” chants.

I’m good with KO as champ, but that entire finish was some of the biggest garbage I’ve witnessed, and that covers a LOT of ground.

WWE Hall Of Famer Mr. Fuji Passes Away

0

Earlier in the day, WWE.com confirmed the death of Hall of Famer, Mr. Fuji. Below is what WWE posted…

WWE is saddened to learn that WWE Hall of Famer Harry Fujiwara, known to WWE fans as Mr. Fuji, passed away Sunday morning at the age of 82.

Fuji spent more than 30 years entertaining fans worldwide as both an in-ring competitor and one of WWE’s greatest managers. A five-time WWE World Tag Team Champion, Fuji was infamous for keeping small bags of salt in his tights which he would throw into his opponents’ eyes.

After retiring from the ring, Fuji managed a litany of WWE’s most feared Superstars, such as George “The Animal” Steele, Kamala, Killer Khan, Demolition, The Powers of Pain, Yokozuna and most notably, “Magnificent” Don Muraco.

With Muraco, Fuji treated WWE fans to the classic Fuji Vice, Fuji General, Fuji Bandito and Fuji Chan series. These series were ahead of their time because spoofing successful television shows as they tried to break into Hollywood was the epitome of sports-entertainment.

His career will be remembered by different generations for different reasons but Mr. Fuji, whether as a Superstar or manager, is one of the most entertaining performers in the history of WWE.

The Crazy Max family extends its condolences to Fujiwara’s family, friends and fans.

WWE Smackdown Live Report – August 23, 2016

0

Bobby “The Brain” Mayo back once again with another Smackdown Live report. SummerSlam is behind us and we move into branded PPV’s.

WWE SMACKDOWN PRESHOW BULLET POINTS

  • The pregame crews is in full force again this week. Dean Ambrose joins the show on Skype early on. He gives Dolph credit but Dean proved he was the better man. Dean doesn’t care what’s next, he’s ready for it.
  • Nikki Bella returns to TV tonight against Carmella. That’s one segment that won’t require much detail.
  • They mention Brock Lesnar attacking Shane McMahon and expect Shane to respond tonight. Speaking of Brock, Randy Orton is NOT on the show tonight. (Edit: actually he IS on the show.)
  • AJ Styles defeated John Cena at SummerSlam. Footage of AJ after the match is shown where he talks about the huge accomplishment. Guess we wait and see where both guys go from here. They do mention Cena leaving his ‘Never Give Up’ band in the ring and talk about what it might mean.
  • Looks like they’ll be introducing the Smackdown Women’s and Tag team Titles tonight. I don’t think that’s a great idea. Fuck, I don’t think that’s even a good idea. In fact, it’s a fucking terrible idea.
  • Even suspended, Eva Marie gets her second bit of publicity since it went into effect. Booker compares her to CM Punk and says he doesn’t want to wait two years for her debut. Damn.
  • Bray Wyatt says it’s a nice day for a Revolution. They wonder who it is directed at.

WWE SMACKDOWN LIVE

August 23, 2016 – CONNECTICUT
MOHEGAN SUN ARENA

* TO THE BACK… There’s a locker room filled with heels and faces. Crews, Corbin, Rhyno, even Erick Rowan has been relegated to jobber central. Dolph Ziggler is sulking in a chair. AJ Styles drops by the celebrate his victory over Cena. He’s wearing Cena’s armband as a headband. He shits on Ziggler’s sad gayness. He tells Ziggler he doesn’t need this in his locker room. Dolph snaps and attacks Styles. The wrestlers pull them apart and Ziggler tells Styles to mind his business.

– SHANE & BRYAN REVEAL NEW SD TITLES –

We’ve got a ring full of women and tag teams so this is about as anticlimactic as it gets. The belts are already in the ring too. Daniel Bryan talks up the ladies. Fans chanting for Becky. Backlash will feature a women’s six pack challenge to crown the “Smackdown Women’s Champion”. Oh God No. The “Smackdown tag team championship” will feature a tournament that culminates at Backlash. The tournament starts tonight.

HEATH SLATER interrupts. Crowd goes nuts for him. He wants to go for a title. Bryan tells Heath he’s not a woman. Heath wants the tag titles. Shane informs Heath that he’s not a member of the roster and he doesn’t have a partner. Crowd is fucking going nuts for Heath. It’s fucking awesome. He’s owning the last few weeks. Vince probably doesn’t like that. Heath has to win the entire tournament to get a Smackdown roster spot. The crowd shits on Shane. Hehe. Heath goes off to find a partner.

AJ STYLES interrupts. Styles tells Heath he won’t be his partner. Styles wants to talk about himself but Dolph Ziggler attacks Styles on the ramp and a brawl commences. The tag teams break the fight up going into break.

– BECKY LYNCH VS. ALEXA BLISS –

Rematch. Nattie and Naomi on commentary. Bliss isn’t much of a wrestler but she has some nice heel moves. Becky makes a comeback with a flying forearm in the corner. Bliss puts an end to that come back with a sunset bomb out of the corner that gets a 2. Becky finally lands the Dis-Arm-Her for the win in 5 minutes. Oh, and Naomi barely spoke and Nattie was terrible as usual on commentary.

Winner is Becky

* TO THE HEAT SLATER.. Heath is wearing a ‘Free Agent’ shirt. He runs into the Miz and asks Miz to be his partner. Miz responds with delight. It’s finally revealed that Miz is speaking on his blue tooth to Steve Spielberg and didn’t even know Heath was in the room. Slater storms off all pissed. He should thank the Heavens that Miz didn’t accept.

– THE USOS VS. THE ASCENSION –

The Ascension attack at the bell and we’re off. Given the time restraints as compared to Raw the Ascension rush through some offense to get in some spots. Jimmy Uso catches Konnor with an enzuigiri and Jey gets the hot tag baby. High cross body to Viktor for 2. Samoan drop by Jey. Jey goes for the butt bomb in the corner but he gets POUNCED by Konnor. Konnor gets knocked outside and Jey dives onto him. Inside the ring Jimmy with a superkick on Viktor and Jey comes off the top with the Superfly Splash ends this in 4 minutes. The Usos are the first team to advance.

Winners are the Usos.

– AJ STYLES IN-RING PROMO –

AJ has the Never Give Up armband. He mentions a few times that he beat John Cena. Just a few. Now he deserves a title shot.

To the Ziggler. Dolph comes busting out of the back but he’s being held back. He wants at AJ. He’s a pissed off Ziggler.

Daniel Bryan has had enough of them so he makes a match. If AJ wins then Styles gets a title shot at Backlash. If Ziggler wins, they BOTH get a title shot at Backlash. Wait. What the FUCK? So AJ can lose and still get the shot? This makes no fucking sense. Fucking writers. Fucking Triple H. Fucking Vince.

This was like a 20 minute Raw segment condensed into maybe 8 minutes.

– NIKKI BELLA VS. CARMELLA –

To the Renee. For some reason Renee Young is in the ring interviewing Bella before the match. Carmella immediately attacks her from behind and lays her out. Nikki takes a beating. Crowd doesn’t know what to do. Nikki does an awful sell job on her neck. Carmella returns to the riung and hits Brie’s old facebuster on Nikki. Did Nikki just turn face and Carmella turn heel? What the fuck just happened here.

For the third week in a row at least one women’s match did not even take place as scheduled.

– RANDY ORTON SPEAKS, BRAY WYATT RESPONDS –

Looks like the fuckers on the preshow lied. Randy Orton IS here and he will speak about SummerSlam. Orton would have rather been rolled out on a stretched than have it ended the way it did. No shit Sherlock. Orton says he will cross paths with Lesnar again one day. Lights go out.

TO THE WYATT. Bray comes out, alone now. He says Orton is a great man, but he’s still just a man. Wyatt on the other hand is a GOD. Gods can’t die. He tells Randy that he will find out soon enough. Orton calls Bray into the ring. Lights go out. Bray is gone.

Another really rushed segment that would have likely gone 3 times as long on Raw.

* To the back. Shane McMahon discusses Brock Lesnar and Stephanie’s shitty $500 fine. Shane says this thing with Brock is far from over. He walks away.

* To the back. Heath Slater is asking Arn Anderson to be his partner. After all, Arn is a tag team specialist. Since Arn was his last choice, Anderson turns it down. But then Rhyno taps Heath on the shoulder and offers to team with Heath. Yet another random team is born.

– AMERICAN ALPHA VS. BREEZANGO –

Why the fuck are Breezango jobbing in the first round of the tournament? There are far shittier teams. After some feeling out, team Alpha show some good stuff including stereo wastelock takedowns and pitch the heels to the floor. Alpha spends too much time in the ring together and while Jordan is being sent to his corner, Fandango cheapshots Gable with a clothesline to give the heels control. SD goes to commercial here. When they return Gable body scissors Fandango over the top to the outside. Jordan hot tags in with overhead belly to bellies for everyone. Tons of near falls follow from both teams. Alpha with a dropkick into a German suplex. Breeze with three very near falls on Jordan. Gable and Fandango fall to the floor. Jordan turns a high kick into a leg capture overhead suplex. Alpha nail their finisher for the win in 12 minutes.

This should have been in the semi finals. This was a good match. This could have been a great match if they’d give Breezango more of a chance.

Winners are American Alpha

* To the Ambrose. In the back Dean sports a giant foam cowboy hat. He doesn’t seem worried who his next challenger or challengers will be at Backlash.

Dean Ambrose to commentary for the number one contender match.

– AJ STYLES VS. DOLPH ZIGGLER –

Dolph with some nice amateur stuff to begin things but AJ ends that with a straight punch to the face. Styles now in control. Leads back to Dolph trying to clothesline AJ out of the ring over the top 4 fucking times before he finally just dropkicks Styles and he falls out. SD goes to commercial here. Ziggler takes a nasty bump in the corner and AJ gets the advantage. Styles with a roundhouse kick to the skull of Dolph. Styles commences to beating up Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler comes fighting back but AJ gives him a neckbreaker across the middle rope as SD goes to commercial again. Back again. AJ with an armbar. Ziggler breaks out and nails a standing dropkick. Dolph goes into his signature routine. Hit it all. Famouser gets a close count.

AJ blocks an Zigzag. AJ with the frieman’s into the brainbuster on his knee for 2. AJ misses a 450 splash. Ziggler with the spike DDT gets him 2. Ziggler escapes a Styles Clash and hits a ZIGZAG OUTTA NOWHERE. SOOOOO CLOOOOOSE. AJ goes to the leg of Dolph and lands the Styles Clash. Match over in 21:00.

Winner is AJ Styles

Really not sure what this does for Ziggler. I’m also not sure they care. A little surprised they go right into Styles vs. Ambrose. Blowing their wads pretty fast.

Show ends with AJ pulling the headset off Ambrose. Dean stands up and words are exchanged but that’s about it. Smackdown ends.

The WWE Raw Report 8/22/16 – Finn Balor Out Six Months

0

The WWE Raw Preshow Notes 8/22/16

– It’s Stanford, Lawler, Lita, and Booker. We immediately learn that Finn Balor is out for at least 6 months with a shoulder injury thanks to the powerbomb into the barricade last night… When he took the bump and tried to catch himself for protection I thought an injury was imminent but when he kept going on with the match I assumed he survived any serious injuries. Guess I was right the first time… Ban the Curb Stomp, but let Rollins end Sting’s career and now this with the powerbomb move. And don’t even get me started on how lucky Ambrose has been when taking the move outside…. Balor will relinquish his newly won title tonight.

– So this Brock Lesnar guy, he made Randy Orton a jobber bitch last night. I don’t even begin to understand the rationalization of this type of booking. The finish, the fact that it went on last, after another match that didn’t even take place, with the hard way strikes that could potentially cause a concussion…. none of it makes sense… Oh, and Randy Orton looked like a bruised turd from the entire fiasco. Go Smackdown! But then they turn the story to Shane McMahon, who sold the F-5 longer than the bump he took off the frickin Cell at Mania.

– Rusev & lana on Skype. Roman Reigns sucks.

– Charlotte post match interview. She’s humble, she beat the best, and did it on her own.

– Angle alert. The Dudleys are teasing retiring tonight. Maybe Bubba gets that singles run.

– Big E returns vs. Karl Anderson tonight. Ugh

WWE RAW REPORT 8/22/16 from Brooklyn, NY

FINN BALOR RELINQUISHES TITLE

– Show opens with Stephanie and Foley in the ring. Out comes Finn Balor to relinquish his title. He promises to return and regain the title when he’s ready. The new Universal title is turned over to the authority…

Seth Rollins passes Balor on the top of the stage as Finn makes his way back… Seth hits the ring and wants the title turned over to him, he wants to celebrate winning the championship…

Cue Zami Zayn…

Cue Chris Jericho…

Cue Kevin Owens…

Cue Enzo & Cass…

Cue Roman Reigns….

They all want a shot at becoming Universal Champion… So a tournament will start tonight to determine the new champion. The first match starts now between Rollins vs. Zayn…

ROllins attacks Zayn pre-match and knocks him silly and sends him to the floor…

— COMMERCIAL BREAK —

MATCH #1: SETH ROLLINS VS. SAMI ZAYN
Match has already started, solid back and forth stuff leads to Sami doing his reverse springboard leapfrog and he comes down really funky on his right leg… Looks like he hurt his ankle to me, might be the knee… Zayn can barely stand on it but refuses to stop the match and wants to continue… Barely able to walk on it, Zayn manages a somersault dive to the floor. Raw goes to break…

Back from break, Zayn is still having issues with his leg but never stops, working as best as he can to put on a solid match. He eats a boot when trying the Helluva Kick, which he can’t even run so it was for the best… Rollins ends the match in around 10:00…

Honestly, for a guy who literally had one leg to stand on, Zayn put on a HELLUVA show for what it was. Hoping the injury isn’t severe. This is getting out of hand…

— COMMERCIAL BREAK —

MATCH #2: KEVIN OWENS VS. NEVILLE
Apparently, Neville wasn’t good enough for the opening segment, but he IS in the title hunt here… Good solid stuff to get the match going. Neville lands a twisty dive to the floor on Owens. Neville also connects with a 450 splash off the apron to the floor. We go to break early on.

Back from break, Chris Jericho is at ringside. Neville dodges a cannonball splash in the corner. Owens misses a frog splash. Neville with a corkscrew moonsault from the middle rope gets 2. Neville with amazing strength dead lifts Owens into the air for a German… Owens dodges a Red Arrow but Neville lands on his fet. Superkick from KO… Owens tries for the powerbomb but Neville turns it into a roll up for 2… Neville with an enzuigiri drops KO… Neville goes for the Red Arrow but Jericho distracts… Neville hits a sliding dropkick on the apron to Jericho’s face… Neville goes back up top but gets crotched… Owens plants him with a fireman’s neckbreaker for the win in maybe 10:00.

This match was okay. Nothing bad at all, but could have stolen the show if given the time and was allowed to do so. It was fine for TV but nothing “must-see”.

– We learn that the winners of tonight’s tournament matches will meet next week in a Fatal Four Way for the title…Booking as they go along… 😛

— COMMERCIAL BREAK —

NEW DAY / GALLOWS & ANDERSON SEGMENT

An entire segment of a New Day promo.. Surprise… Eventually, Gallows and Anderson interrupt and call it stupid… So says the guys who have been carrying eggs in a jar and wearing lab coats… They argue back and forth. Nothing happens. We go to break. Very eventful… Yawn.

— COMMERCIAL BREAK —

MATCH #3: BIG E (w/NEW DAY) VS. KARL ANDERSON (w/GALLOWS)

Match is in progress, probably for the best. Abdominal stretch by Big E and he slaps Karl’s ass in the process. Anderson takes over and works on the leg of E. Big E battles back and sends Karl to the floor… Gallows lays out Kofi & Woods on the floor… Big E tries the spear/drive through the ropes but Anderson blocks it with a knee to the face…

Outside the ring, Kofi & Woods lay out Gallows, Big Ending finishes off Anderson like a jobber in 4:00 of TV time.

This was basically nothing, the heels can’t even get a singles win. Pointless. New Day doesn’t need wins like this to stay over…

– Dudley Boyz say Good Bye tonight.

— COMMERCIAL BREAK —

TITUS O’NEIL / BACKLUND / YOUNG SEGMENT

Lats year the Prime Time Playas were the tag champs until they lost to the New Day. He rips on Brooklyn. Darren Young wouldn’t be relevant if it wasn’t for Titus. He rips on Young. James Storm Done With TNA

0

It appears James Storm may be done with TNA.

We will have more details soon but at tonight’s Impact Wrestling tapings in Orlando, Storm reportedly announced that he has fulfilled his obligations to the company and due to some “bulls–t contract stuff” that happened behind-the-scenes, he’s done.
Storm said he wanted his last match to be against Bram and said we may see him teaming with an old friend soon, teasing a possible WWE NXT return to team with Bobby Roode. He also thanked fans for supporting him.

Storm tweeted the following on Monday, indicating that the whole thing may be part of a storyline:

Due to some things that happened this Thursday on @IMPACTWRESTLING . It seems I can’t talk about things yet due to some legal BS.
