Credit: Sean Ross Sapp

– We kick off NXT with the excellent Dusty Rhodes tribute.

Enzo Amore, Colin Cassady & Carmella vs. Blake, Murphy & Alexa Bliss

Enzo and crew are over big time with the crowd as they cut their usual promo. Enzo gets headlocked and shoulderblocked by Blake until Enzo hits him with a drop toe hold and dances before hitting a crossbody. All hell immediately breaks loose as the faces send all the heels outside as we go to break.

We come back to Murphy working over Enzo, and the tag champs double team him shortly after. After several minutes, Carmella gets the hot tag and beats up Alexa, who tags Blake. Big Cass comes in and hits an awesome big boot and a side slam, before he and Enzo land the Rocket Launcher for the win.

Winner: Enzo Amore, Colin Cassady & Carmella via pinfall (Rocket Launcher)

– We get photographic recaps of Kevin Owens’ match with Cena at Money in the Bank. Samoa Joe is interviewed and says that he came to NXT compete, and he doesn’t like Kevin Owens. He thinks intimidation is a tactic of the cowardly.

– We get a look at Finn Balor, including a mini-bio, really good stuff. Becky Lynch is shown getting emotional because Balor trained her. She credits him with the life she has now.

Charlotte vs. KC Cassidy

Cassidy earns a headlock early, followed by a headscissors takeover that impresses Charlotte. While it impressed Charlotte, it didn’t impress her enough as she booted KC in the grill. Charlotte locks on a cravate but walks into a body press for two.

Charlotte chops KC repeatedly before totally killing KC with a spear. She locks on the Figure 8 for the submission.

Winner: Charlotte via submission (Figure 8)

– Dana Brooke says she’s been busy competing in fitness competitions, but now she’s back to shove Charlotte out the door. She says she earned her spot in NXT, while Charlotte was given hers. I have no clue what Dana Brooke was looking at here, because it wasn’t the camera or the interviewer.

Samoa Joe vs. Kevin Owens

Owens dips outside, but Joe follows. They square off, and Joe totally pummels Owens in the corner. Owens turns the tide with a clothesline, but Joe follows him with an elbow and an enziguri. Facewash for Owens in the corner. Owens leaves the ring as we go to break.

We come back with Owens in control, which he uses to hit a big cannonball in the corner for two before applying a headlock. A shoulderblock earns him a two count, but he goes right back to the headlock. The crowd starts a great “headlock city” chant, and Owens isn’t persuaded to let go.

Joe battles back with punches, but gets caught with a knee. Joe comes back again, landing a senton and running kick that both get two counts. Owens fights out of the Muscle Buster, but gets a uranage for his trouble and retreats. Joe follows him and gets posted. Owens can’t get Joe up for an apron powerbomb and the two start brawling.

They keep fighting, and the ref gets smashed and calls for the bell. They continue to brawl on the ramp, and several ref run out to stop it. Owens hits the ring, and Joe runs back out and they fight even more. There are probably a dozen officials out there to break this up.

Result: No Contest

They have a stare down and Young continues to threaten Melendez.

A very short match, DJZ went after Godderz right away, but Godderz managed to get the Adonis Crab for the victory.

Also, don’t forget to join us this Friday for our ROH Best in the World live viewing party!

Decade (w/BJ Whitmer) vs. War Machine

Whitmer gets on the mic and cuts his whole deal where he has Colby Corino wrestle for him. Steve Corino sounds much more worried this time around. Rowe doesn’t want to fight Colby and begs him to let Whitmer fight. Hanson gets tagged in and immediately slams Corino. Rowe absolutely kills Corino with a backbreaker, gutbuster and a powerbomb. Page won’t tag Corino, and War Machine finishes him off with the backdrop/legdrop.

Winners: War Machine via pinfall

Steve Corino threatens BJ Whitmer after the match.

– Cedric Alexander comes out and calls out Moose, and says he wants to end the streak.

Moose (w/ Veda Scott & Stokely Hathaway) vs. Cedric Alexander

Moose lands a bodyslam, but misses a splash early as Alexander rolls out of the ring. Moose gets posted, but ends up back in the ring where he dropkicks Alexander off the top rope down to the arena floor as we go to a commercial break.

We come back to Alexander hitting a tornado DDT that can’t get the job done. Moose comes back with a big clothesline for two. Both men trade strikes, but Moose gets caught up on the top rope where he’s dropkicked repeatedly, to the tune of about six times. Moose catches him with a spear out of nowhere but can’t capitalize.

Veda Scott tries to toss Moose a foreign object, but he won’t use it. Cedric grabs the weapon and uses it and pins Moose. Well that was anticlimactic.

Winner: Cedric Alexander via pinfall

Stokely consoles Moose, as he’s lost just days before his number one contender’s match. Moose’s streak is over. I wasn’t sure how I felt about it when I read the spoilers last month, and still not sure how it’ll work out.

ACH & Matt Sydal vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi & Tetsuya Naito

No Code of Honor adhered to, as both teams trade holds as we lead to our first commercial break. We come back to Naito with ACH in a chinlock before hitting him with a couple of dropkicks and playing to the crowd.

ACH catches Naito with a big double foot stomp to the back and tags out to Sydal who has his way with a seated senton and a huracanrana to Naito. Tanahashi tries to butt in and gets heel kicked before Naito eats Frankensteiner for two. Sydal goes for a standing moonsault, but gets caught in midair with a Tanahashi German Suplex.

ACH comes in and kicks Tanahashi over and over before hitting a lariat for a two count. A kick/German Suplex also gets two, but Tanahashi locks on the Texas Cloverleaf. Sydal breaks it up, but misses an Asai moonsault on the NJPW guys. ACH crashes and burns outside to give them the advantage. Shooting Star on Tanahashi gets two as Naito breaks it up. Tanahashi hits a Slingblade on ACH, followed by a High Fly Flow for the win.

Winner: Hiroshi Tanahashi & Tetsuya Naito via pinfall (High Fly Flow)

– Jay Lethal and Truth Martini are out for the contract signing, as are Jay and Mark Briscoe. Nigel McGuinness is in the ring and says both titles are on the line in a one-fall, sixty minute time limit match. McGuinness calls it the biggest match in ROH history.

Lethal says the only reason he doesn’t beat up Briscoe now is because he wants to prove he’s the best in ROH this Friday. Briscoe says when he’s done with Lethal, he’ll have to go back to being Black Machismo. The two get face-to-face to end the show.

Note On Report Of Chyna Visiting WWE Headquarters

0

We noted before that filmmaker Erik Angra, who has been raising money through Kickstarter to produce a documentary on former WWE Women’s Champion Chyna, posted a photo of Chyna at WWE headquarters in Stamford, CT yesterday.

We still don’t know why Chyna was at WWE HQ or if it was an official visit but the photo does appear to be legitimate. For what it’s worth, PWInsider reports that a well-placed WWE source noted to them that the company has had no communication with Chyna and that she was not in Stamford for any scheduled WWE meeting of any kind.
