Tonight’s main event features a huge NXT Women’s Championship match between Charlotte and Sasha Banks.

Jason Jordan and Chad Gable vs. Elias Samson and Steve Cutler

After hesitating, Jordan tags in Chad Gable, who wrestles circles around Samson. Cutler tags in and puts the boots to Gable, but Gable and Jordan hit a nice back suplex combo for the win.

Winners: Jason Jordan & Chad Gable via pinfall (assisted back suplex)

– We see a recap of the NXT women debuting on Raw this week.

Samoa Joe vs. Axel Tischer

Joe grabs an arm ringer and punishes the arm of Tischer, but gets kicked a few times. Tischer’s offense is short lived, as he eats an inverted atomic drop, senton, uranage, Muscle Buster and Kokina Clutch. That’s it.

Winner: Samoa Joe via stoppage (Kokina Clutch)

– We see a look at Baron Corbin, who is really heeling it up. He says he won conference football championships by himself, made it to the NFL and got paid way more than indy darlings that are in NXT did. He is also shown golden gloves boxing and medaling in NAGA grappling tourneys.

– Eva Marie announces her NXT debut will happen next week.

Blake & Murphy (w/ Alexa Bliss) vs. Angelo Dawkins & Sawyer Fulton

Murphy gets jabbed by Dawkins, but kicks him and the tag champions double team Dawkins in the corner. The two work over Dawkins methodically, and Murphy pulls Fulton off the apron before a tag can be made. Blake and Murphy hit a running suplex and a frog splash for the victory.

Winners: Blake & Murphy via pinfall (frog splash)

After the match, the champions beat down their opponents. They lift Alexa up for an assisted Sparkle Splash.

– Sami Zayn comes out in a sling, and says he hasn’t forgotten about the fans. He says things have kind of sucked for him, and it’s been rough. He says 2014 was the best year of his career, and 2015 has been the worst, and it won’t get better because he’s out for the year. He said his goal is to come back and win the NXT Championship again. He tells Kevin Owens that no matter what, Owens has been linked to him for the last 12 years, and he’s going to make sure that’s how it is for the next 12.

– We see highlights of NXT at the San Diego Comic Con. Balor an Owens are trashing each other.

NXT Women’s Championship
Sasha Banks (c) vs. Charlotte

The two start out by locking up and going stagnant as neither can gain an advantage after rolling around. Charlotte avoids Sasha several times before hitting a headscissors and rolling Sasha up for a two count. Sasha turns the tides with another knee, then hits double knees in the corner for a two count as we go to a commercial.

We come back to see Sasha in control, hitting the straitjacket backbreaker, and holding it. Sasha then locks on Charlottes own headscissors move and drives Charlotte’s face into the mat repeatedly. Charlotte ends up turning the head scissors into a giant powerbomb, but she’s down as well.

The two trade strikes until Charlotte scores with a neckbreaker and a spear for 2. Sasha gets a backslide for two, and smacks Charlotte and screams that she’s better. Charlotte drops Sasha with a big boot, but gets rolled up on a Figure 8 attempt. Sasha then gets a reverse Code Red for two.

Charlotte locks in a Figure Four, and some of her extensions come out. Sasha reaches the ropes, but Charlotte rolls to the outside with the hold still on before breaking it. The two trade pin attempts until Sasha locks on the Bank Statement. After a solid minute, Charlotte taps.

Winner: Sasha Banks via submission (Bank Statement) to retain the NXT Women’s Championship

Charlotte and Sasha Banks embrace to end the show.

Tonight’s show features a huge World Television Title match between champion Jay Lethal and Mark Briscoe

Matt Sydal vs. Adam Page (w/ Decade)

Sydal starts of with arm drags and a head scissors before knocking Page down with a heel kick. Page rolls outside and pulls Colby Corino in front of him, causing Sydal to take Corino out. Page hits his shooting star shoulder block as we go to a break.

We come back to see Sydal battling with a series of kick before the double knees get a two count for him. Sydal’s standing leg drop and standing moonsault get a two count. He goes up top, but is knocked off the top. Page capitalizes with a crazy fireman’s carry backbreaker. Page isn’t able to get the three count, and Sydal hits the shooting star press for the win.

Winner: Matt Sydal via pinfall (Shooting Star Press)

Decade attacks Sydal after the match. ACH makes the save, but gets attacked too. Page hits a reverse piledriver on Sydal on a bunch of chairs while they make ACH watch.

– Veda Scott comes out and trashes Moose. She says Cedric Alexander will prove that potential doesn’t win matches, aggressiveness and her guidance wins matches.

Silas Young vs. Will Ferrara

Ferrara gets a nice ovation from his hometown crowd. Young grabs a headlock, but Ferrara outwrestles him and applies a short-arm scissors. Young lifts Ferrara up and drops him while still in the hold. Young applies another headlock, but Ferrara fights back and hits a tornado DDT for 2.

Ferrara goes for a sunset flip for a two, and gets hit with a big lariate. Dalton Castle’s Boys come out and distract Silas Young, allowing Ferrara to roll up Young for the pin.

Winner: Will Ferrara via pinfall

Young attacks both of the Boys after the match.

Ring of Honor World Television Championship
Jay Lethal (c) (w/ Truth Martini) vs. Mark Briscoe (w/ODB)

Roderick Strong is on commentary for this match, as Lethal starts it off by putting the boots to Briscoe after a handshake. Briscoe is rolled outside and Lethal tries to get DQ’d by having Martini hit him with the Book of Truth, but ODB makes the save as we go to a commercial.

We come back to see Mark Briscoe in control, tossing Lethal across the ring with a big belly-to-belly suplex. J Diesel tries to interfere, but Briscoe tosses him from the ring, allowing Lethal to take control. Briscoe turns Lethal inside out with a clothesline, but only gets a two count off of a big brainbuster.

Lethal is bounced to the outside and does the Cactus Jack Elbow. Martini tries to interfere, but ODB knocks him down. Donovan Dijak pops up, but Jay Briscoe comes out to take care of him. Lethal suicide dives ODB, and while the ref is checking on her, Dijak low blows Briscoe. Lethal Injection, pin.

Winner: Jay Lethal via pinfall (Lethal Injection) to retain the ROH World Television Title

– Jay Briscoe and Lethal come to blows after the match, and the House of Truth jumps the brothers. Roderick Strong makes the save. Strong makes a challenge for ROH 200 for the Briscoes & Strong vs. House of Truth. ODB says she’s rather make it 4 on 4.

Former Security Guard Suing 12 WWE Superstars Over 2013 Live Event Incident, WWE Responds

0

A former security guard at the Savannah Civic Center in Savannah, Georgia is suing WWE and several Superstars after he was hit with a steel chair at a WWE live event in 2013, according to Courthouse News Service. The complaint was filed in late June.

Troy Rivers says he was unexpectedly hit “about the head, neck and back” with a chair at the event. His suit names John Cena, Ryback, Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Daniel Bryan, Cesaro, Fandango, Damien Sandow, Cody Rhodes, Kane and R-Truth. Rivers is unsure who actually hit him, believing it may be Ambrose, so his attorney is suing every Superstar who competed that night. His attorney Kevin Elwell said:

“We haven’t reviewed the video from the event yet, so we’re bringing in everyone on the card that night. Only one guy did it, but we don’t know which one yet.”

Rivers says the incident left him with “serious, significant and permanent personal injuries.” River’s wife Mary is also a plaintiff in the suit and claims that the incident has deprived her of “conjugal fellowship” with her husband. Troy also claims that because of gross negligence by WWE, he is suffering from “physical and mental anguish, diminishment of his earning capacity, and continues to suffer a loss of enjoyment of life.”

The man is seeking unspecified punitive and compensatory damages. WWE issued a written statement in response and said they have no knowledge of “any such incident and the security company that hired the plaintiff doesn’t have any record of this matter either. Furthermore, the plaintiff’s attorney has admitted he has no basis to sue the individual defendants named in the lawsuit.”

Why Did WWE Really Write Dolph Ziggler Off TV?

0

Source: PWInsider Elite

After much speculation and different stories from Dolph Ziggler himself, PWInsider has confirmed that Ziggler is indeed signed to a new WWE contract.

Ziggler is “out of action indefinitely” in the WWE storylines because he’s going to Vancouver this week to star in a WWE Studios thriller titled “6:42.” Dolph’s character will be a cop named Ray Fitzpatrick, who has to overcome his past while dealing with a plot to blow up a child with a bomb strapped to their chest.

Filming is scheduled to go on for four weeks, which will put Ziggler back on WWE TV in mid-August before SummerSlam.
