Hulk Hogan Continues To Comment On Controversy, However Apparently Doesn’t Get It

0

Hulk Hogan continues to comment on the controversy over his racist comments in 2006. Hogan has mostly been re-tweeting messages of support from African American fans, and also wrote the following (sic):

Unless u went through this, true loyality and love has a different meaning,it makes u want to live and not die,4those that never left me I am Forever grateful and love u with all my heart life, only love 4u. HH
For those that left me and didn’t stand by my side,u will see and I will prove, who i really am and u will also understand my love for u 0LHH

However in re-tweeting messages stating that he isn’t a racist, he also re-tweeted the message below equating Hogan using the “N” word to describe how he’s a racist to President Obama using the term on Marc Maron’s podcast last month when discussing how race relations have changed in the United States:

Bi-racial President Obama uses N word, is applauded and keeps his job. @HulkHogan uses N word, is vilified and loses his job.

Below are Obama’s comments from Marc Maron’s podcast last month where he used the term:

“Racism, we are not cured of it. And it’s not just a matter of it not being polite to say n*gger in public. That’s not the measure of whether racism still exists or not. It’s not just a matter of overt discrimination. Societies don’t, overnight, completely erase everything that happened 200 to 300 years prior.”
Below are Hogan’s comments, via The National Enquirer:

“She [Brooke] is making some real bad decisions now. My daughter Brooke jumped sides on me. I spent $2-3 million on her music career, I’ve done everything like a jackass for her… The one option Brooke had, Brooke’s career besides me, is [to] sell beach records.
“I don’t know if Brooke was f*cking the black guy’s son. I mean, I don’t have double standards. I mean, I am a racist, to a point, f*cking n*ggers. But then when it comes to nice people and sh*t, and whatever… I mean, I’d rather if she was going to f*ck some n*gger, I’d rather have her marry an 8-foot-tall n*gger worth a hundred million dollars! Like a basketball player!

“I guess we’re all a little racist. F*cking n*gger.”

It should be noted that Hogan was never “vilified” for using the term in 2012 when discussing the infamous promo that Booker T cut on him in WCW during an interview with Whoo Kid on Shade 45.

Big Update On The Rumors Of WWE SummerSlam Being A Four Hour Pay-Per-View This Year

0

It looks like there is some credibility to the rumors of WWE SummerSlam being a 4 hour pay-per-view this year.

Luca Franchini, who does WWE announcing for Sky Italia in Italy, announced on Facebook that WWE informed the network that this year’s SummerSlam will be 4 hours long, in order for them to prepare and make room for the extra hour.

Franchini noted that SummerSlam is now scheduled to begin at 7pm EST instead of 8pm EST, pushing the Kickoff Pre-show up to 6pm EST.

It’s possible WWE will make the official announcement this week. We will keep you updated on any developments.

As noted, Destination America has dropped the 8pm EST airing for Ring of Honor TV on Wednesday nights. They still have the 11pm EST airing but the first is no longer scheduled. Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Destination America is trying out new programs in the 8pm time slot but this is not a good sign for ROH. This Wednesday an episode of “Bigfoot In America” is scheduled while “Mountain Monsters” is scheduled for Wednesday, August 5th.

Meltzer noted that unlike the TNA roster, ROH talents were informed of the 8pm EST showing being dropped before the news broke. They were given the excuse that Destination America is trying out new programming in the time slot.

Brock Lesnar – Undertaker, When Stephen Amell May Confront Stardust, David Otunga On TV

0

– WWE’s website has a new poll asking fans who holds a bigger grudge heading into their battle at SummerSlam – Brock Lesnar or The Undertaker. With over 6,000 votes, 75% have voted for The Undertaker.

– David Otunga will be appearing on The Steve Harvey Show on Monday morning, which airs in syndication. The blurb for Otunga reads like this:

“Plus, Steve welcomes Kristen, who is turning her boyfriend Buddha in, for his unhealthy lifestyle. Buddha consumes over 15,000 calories a day, which is enough to feed ten people! After 30 years of being overweight, is Buddha finally ready to change his ways? Steve surprises Buddha with fitness guru and WWE Superstar DAVID OTUNGA, who will personally oversee Buddha’s new lifestyle transformation!”

– Earlier this weekend we posted a video from actor Stephen Amell, where he teased appearing at an upcoming WWE event to continue the feud with Stardust and possibly The Miz. Amell was likely referring to an appearance on the August 10th RAW from Everett, Washington. Amell is currently in British Columbia filming Arrow and WWE will also be running British Columbia that same weekend. It’s possible he appears at a regular live event but RAW seems more likely.

Hulk Hogan is speaking out about a just-released audio transcript that features him making racist slurs about his daughter Brooke’s love life.

“Eight years ago I used offensive language during a conversation. It was unacceptable for me to have used that offensive language; there is no excuse for it; and I apologize for having done it,” Hogan said in a statement exclusively to PEOPLE. The transcript featuring that conversation was published online by the National Enquirer.

“This is not who I am. I believe very strongly that every person in the world is important and should not be treated differently based on race, gender, orientation, religious beliefs or otherwise,” Hogan told PEOPLE. “I am disappointed with myself that I used language that is offensive and inconsistent with my own beliefs.”

Hogan was scrubbed from the WWE’s website on Friday morning, with no videos or photos of the famed wrestler remaining. He was also removed from the online Hall of Fame. His lawyer David Houston confirmed to PEOPLE that he’s officially resigned from the organization.

“He decided to resign from WWE because he didn’t want to put them or his family through this,” Houston told PEOPLE.

WWE, however, maintains that Hogan was fired: “WWE terminated its contract with Terry Bollea (a.k.a. Hulk Hogan). WWE is committed to embracing and celebrating individuals from all backgrounds as demonstrated by the diversity of our employees, performers and fans worldwide.”

Hogan told PEOPLE he will use the situation to “improve as a person” and that he takes the matter as an “important learning experience.”

A transcript of the audio shows the wrestler repeatedly using the n-word in reference to his daughter Brooke Hogan’s dating life.

Hogan was already enmeshed in legal drama when news of the transcript leaked. The Florida trial for his high-profile lawsuit against gossip site Gawker was recently delayed until at least the fall. The star’s legal team filed a $100 million lawsuit against the site after its 2012 posting of video from a sex tape, made in 2008, featuring Hogan. The video was later removed from the site.
