Latest Update on the WWE Hall of Fame

0

WWE announced on last night’s episode of SmackDown from Little Rock that Carlos Colon will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this year in New Orleans. Colon has promoted the WWC promotion in Puerto Rico for over 40 years and last wrestled for WWE in 1993 at the Royal Rumble. He also appeared on a 2006 RAW to cheer on his son Carlito. Colon is also the father to Primo Colon (Diego of Los Matadores) and uncle to Orlando Colon (Fernando). Colon once had close ties with Gorilla Monsoon, whom co-promoted the WWC territory with Colon for the first 10 years of it’s existence.

Carlos will join the Ultimate Warrior, Jake “The Snake” Roberts, Lita, and Paul Bearer in the 2014 Class of the WWE Hall of Fame.

Other names still being tossed around as inductees for this year include Scott Hall and possibly Mr. T, for the celebrity wing.

Will the WWE Network Be Able To Handle WrestleMania 30?

0

– The Motley Fool has an article here looking at if the WWE Network will be able to handle traffic for WrestleMania, given some of the glitches that have popped up since its launch. WWE sent the following statement in an email to the site:

“Notwithstanding the overwhelmingly positive response to WWE Network, we want to ensure subscribers have the highest-quality experience watching WrestleMania 30 and all our programming, and thus have put in place significant quality assurances. These steps include increased capacity to handle high volumes of transactions, logins, and concurrent live streams, daily ‘stress’ testing of all systems over an extended period, and the addition of technology experts to review our plan and procedures. We’re confident that we’ll be ready on Sunday, April 6.”

MMA News – UFC 171, Dana White on GSP & CM Punk

0

UFC President Dana White was interviewed by Chad Dukes and Lavar Arrington this afternoon for ChadDukesWrestling.com / CBS Radio DC 106.7. During the interview, White was asked about the the rumors of CM Punk’s possible interest in entering the world of MMA. While White said that he and Punk had never discussed wrestling or Punk fighting in the UFC, he wasn’t counting out the possibility of signing him. You can check out the exchange below:

White: “We [Punk and I] have literally never talked about business. I like him. He’s a fan. I’ve heard rumors out there, and he and I have been around each other and been together, he has never ever, I’ve never talked to him about wrestling and he’s never talked to me about fighting. I have no idea.”

Dukes: “Would you be open to it?”

White: “Um. I mean, yeah. I guess if he wanted to fight, I’d talk to him about it.”

~~~~~~~~~~~
UFC president Dana White recently sat down with the media during UFC 171’s media day. When asked if he knows whether or not former UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre will return, White said:
“I know for a fact he will. I haven’t talked to him, [I’ve] text him. I mean, we text. He said thanks for all the things you said in my documentary. [I said] It’s a pleasure, no problem. That’s all we’ve said to each other since the last time we talked.”
– The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3 coaches Wanderlei Silva and Chael Sonnen were originally scheduled to face off at UFC 173 on May 24, however the bout was pushed back to UFC Fight Night on May 31. However, figh agreements have yet to be signed, and Sonnen has asserted that Silva has been stalling, leading people to wonder if Wanderlei was ducking out of the fight. White noted that it was not the case.
“It’ll get done. We’ll get it done… he’s not balking at all,” White said. “He’s not balking, not even a little bit. It’s not over money either. What else could it be? I can’t tell ya. It has to do with the show. It has to do with the show, as far as I can tell you.”
You can check out the whole pre-fight media scrum above.
Live TNA iMPACT Wrestling Results 3/13/14
– EC3 confronts Bobby Roode in the back about Roode being the blame for Team Dixie losing at Lockdown.
Footage of Abyss helping Magnus defeat Samoa Joe at Lockdown and then it’s Bully Ray shocking the world by turning his back on Dixie Carter.
Mike Tenay and Taz greet us live from Orlando, Florida.
– MVP enters the ring as the man in full control of TNA. Chants of M-V-P ring loud as he says that Dixieland is officially closed. First issue is Bully Ray. Regardless of his past, Bully Ray will be on equal footing when it comes to TNA. Then MVP tells us how he will direct operations now that he is in charge. 1) Motivate 2) Validate, and 3) Participate. It’s just that simple…. and Magnus’ music hits as he interrupts MVP. Boo’s ring out as Magnus states that the MVP Principle is the most ridiculous thing he’s ever heard which draws a huge “YOU SUCK” chant from the fans and a reply from MVP saying “more ridiculous than your title run?”. To that, Magnus brings out his “insurance policy” Abyss. The fired up crowd shouts You Sold Out. While Magnus bores everyone with his speech, the crowd then breaks into We Want Joe, and then Paper Champion chants. MVP has a great response: “The way I see it, at Lockdown, you were getting your English ass kicked all over the ring by Samoa Joe until miraculously, you literally pulled a monster out of your ass so that you could come up with that victory”. MVP says that the conversation can’t go on until the #1 contender to the Heavyweight Champion joins them in the ring. Samoa Joe walks to the ring and shows signs of the beating he took at Lockdown. MVP announces that it will be Magnus vs. Samoa Joe next week, but right now it’s Joe vs. Abyss!
Samoa Joe vs. Abyss
The red hot crowd live in Orlando is cheering wildly for Samoa Joe as we return from break. Joe is taped up in several places and is doing his best to fight through the pain, but a more calm than normal Abyss takes control of the match. During the match, Tenay and Taz discuss how Dixie Carter’s life came crumbling down in Miami at Lockdown. Joe makes a brief comeback but Abyss regains control until a massive power slam by Joe on the monster. After a headbutt by Joe, he comes off the ropes but is caught by a vicious chokeslam by Abyss who then heads out of the ring for his favorite weapon to use on Joe. Eric Young hits the ring and hits a missile dropkick on Abyss to cause a DQ.
Back from break, Jeremy Borash is in the back waiting on Bully Ray, then we see a short Willow promo.
Back in the ring, we are introduced to Brittany with a video. She is welcomed by a match with Gail Kim accompanied by Lei’D Tapa.
Gail Kim vs. Brittany
A good strong back and forth until Lei’D Tapa comes in and accidentally nails Gail Kim with a splash in the corner. Brittany takes advantage and get a roll up victory over Kim. After shoving each other, a huge Cat Fight between Gail Kim and Lei’D Tapa breaks out. Winner of the match: Brittany
– We see Bully Ray enter the back with the Team Dixie thugs jumping “the insurance policy” and beating him down. While Bully is being choked with his chain, Bobby Roode gets in Bully’s face and says you screwed me and then knocks him out with a wooden sign all the while screaming “you don’t screw with me”.
DJ Z introduces the Bro Mans – the Tag Team Champions. And that horn drives everyone crazy!!!!
Next out is Sanada – the new X Division Champion and Tigre Uno.
Tenay hypes the new partnership from Japan, and we get a video of Sanada with the Great Muta. Mutoh tells Sanada that he has high expectations for him.
The Bro Mans vs Sanada and Tigre Uno
Both teams get in some outstanding moves, some dun dives, but Sanada gets the pin after a well done Moonsault in just a matter of a few minutes. Winners: Sanada and Tigre Uno
– We see Bully Ray pull himself up, dust himself off, wrap a chain around the back of his neck, and he’s off on a mission!
– After the break, Bully Ray decimates Zema and the Bro Mans in the locker room, and then we cut in “The Creepy Bastard” himself Samuel Shaw supposedly talking to “Christy Hemme” saying he will end Ken Anderson once and for all.
– A bunch of random backstage stuff, including a sighting of Willow the Wisp, and Rockstar Spud & EC3 prepare to give Dixie Carter the proper sendoff, when we return!
– Samoa Joe & Eric Young talk backstage. Joe wants Eric Young to stay out of his matches. Next week Joe meets Magnus, and Eric Young will now be chained to Abyss at ringside!
– Rockstar Spud & EC3 come to the ring to pay honor to Dixie Carter, complete with a giant picture of Carter. The crowd craps all over the segment, chanting one thing after another as Spud pays tribute to Dixie. A ridiculous video is played of Dixie Carter, purely for comedic reasons. Spud has prepared a reading as well, but before he can make it to the second verse he’s interrupted by MVP. MVP ends the segment, but wants to keep Spud around, AS A WRESTLER. Spud says he’s too small, smaller than some of the Knockouts. But MVP talks him into wrestling. MVP makes a match with Spud vs. Willow (Jeff Hardy)! MVP then makes a match between EC3 and Bobby Lashley for next week! EC3 declines the match because Lashley isn’t on the active roster, but MVP announces that he has signed Lashley to a contract! Lashley takes the picture of Dixie and smashes it on the head of Spud and then has a stare down with EC3.
– Jeremy Borash tries to get EC3’s thoughts backstage, but Bully Ray attacks EC3 in the locker room and leaves him laying.
STREET FIGHT: Mr. Anderson vs. Samuel Shaw
Shaw attacks Anderson on his way out. They fight to the ring where Anderson takes over. Anderson kisses the dummy Hemme and lays Shaw out with the Mic Check and another quick win tonight.
– Angelina Love makes her TNA return as she heads to the ring. Gross. Love is happy to be back and calls Velvet Sky to the ring. Love says she thinks it’s time to bring the “Beautiful People” back together. Sky says a lot has changed and she was finally able to find herself while Love was gone. Velvet says she’s moving on, and they will always have a bond, but she’s ready to move forward without Love. Angelina tries to talk Sky into reuniting, but Sky says she needs more time to think.
Willow vs. Rockstar Spud
Jeff Hardy gets himself disqualified after working Spud over in the corner within a couple of minutes. Willow then lays out the referee and grabs a ladder. Hardy then sticks Spud’s leg inside a folding chair and stomps it before landing a falling splash off the top of a ladder.
Bully Ray passes Willow in the aisle way as we go to commercial.
After commercial, Bully Ray calls out Bobby Roode. Short brawl, Bully grabs a table. Roode takes back over, tries to DVD Bully through a table, Bully escapes and powerbombs Roode through the table to end the show.
