Joey Styles is in the ring and tapes an opening welcoming us to ECW TV. Styles welcomes to the ring Baron Von Stevie. Stevie Richards comes to the ring dressed as Baron Von Raschke with Bluedust and his manager Trisha. I won’t even try to explain how awesome this is. Stop reading this right now and go find it on Youtube. Stevie says he has the slut that Raven wanted while Bluedust freaks out Styles. Seriously though there was so much more. Please go watch this interview. Stevie tries to put the claw on Joey but he just slaps it away and walks out. Again watch it. A freakin interview segment got a standing ovation! Stevie rides Bluedust to the back and tries to give fans the claw!

F.B.I vs. Buh Buh Ray Dudley & Big Dick Dudley (w/ Sign Guy, Dances With & Chubby Dudley) ref John “Pee Wee” Moore
JT Smith gets on the mic before the match and says he has a surprise for Little Guido. Smith calls out the newest member Sal Bellomo. Bellomo gets on the mic and insults the fans in Italian. Guido tries to sing but Smith takes the mic from him. Smith begins to sing but gets cut off by boos and AC/DC’s “Highway to Hell”. During the ring introductions Buh Buh grabs the mic from the announcer and calls out D-Von Dudley. He sings F.B.I.’s theme song and says “Your momma” to Smith. This makes him VERY mad and Guido has to hold him back. Buh Buh says his name with out stuttering and he and the fans go wild! Big Dick ALMOST smiles. Buh Buh in a child like voice gets the fans to agree that no one likes D-Von. He says that D-Von had one thing right now and it’s that “thou shall not FUCK with the Dudleys”. The Dudleys attack and Buh Buh hits three splashes on Guido. Big Dick clubs Smith in a corner. Buh Buh hits a avalanche in the corner. D-Von gets on the mic and yells at Buh Buh for not waiting for him. Joey points out that D-Von is only around when Big Dick isn’t. D-Von levels Buh Buh with a chair. DW tries to save Buh Buh but he gets hit. Chubby now nailed. D-Von calls out Big Dick but as Highway to Hell begins playing D-Von leaves through the crowd as Dick comes back to the ring. D-Von mets up with a camera man right outside the arena and wonders where Dick is. Dick is about 5 feet behind D-Von when he starts to walk away and gets in a waiting car and drives off.

Taz (w/ Bill Alfonso, Team Taz, Tag Team Champions Eliminators, Rob Van Dam & “The Franchise” Shane Douglas) vs. Paul Varelans ref Paul Richards Shoot Fight
Varelans talks trash with Douglas. Lots of hype lead us into this match lets see if it can deliver. Alfonso gets on the mic before the match and tells Varelans he wants to choke him out to but he’s going to leave it up to Taz. “Shut the fuck up” chant by the fans and it actually gets him to stop immediately and give the mic back. The bell rings and here we go! They circle Taz gets a takedown but Paul escapes. Taz goes for a single leg but the fall into the ropes. Taz with another dive but Varelans takes Taz over and is in a mount but Taz quickly fights out of it. Taz gets kneed and Varelans goes for another one but Taz takes him down again in the ropes. Taz with a double leg but Varelans puts Taz in guard and gets an arm bar. Varelans wih a leg kick and kick to the chest. Saturn dropkicks Varelans from the top rope in the back of the head as the ref is distracted! Tazplex and Tazmission ends the match at 2.42. The crowd is shocked but a moment and then they are pissed! A big “bullshit” chant starts up. Taz gets on the mic and agrees that it was bullshit and he is happy that he got to fuck the fans again. “You ain’t shit” chant now towards Taz. “Sabu” chants as we edit away.

World Champion Raven, Stevie Richards, and Super Nova are out now. Stevie gets on the mic and says that Devine Brown wasn’t dirtiest and Bluedust was to feminine. Stevie says he found Sandman’s ex-wife Peaches. Peaches comes to the ring and drops to her knees in front of Raven. Sandman hits the ring and wants to know if this is supposed to piss him off? Sandman has already kicked her out and passed her around. He reminds Raven to pay his bills.

We cut to Joey backstage telling us that it’s now time for Raven to face IWA Japan’s pick to fight Raven.

World Champion Raven (w/ Stevie Richards, Super Nova & Peaches) vs. Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy ref John Finnegan
Big reaction for Gordy by the largest crowd ever in the ECW Arena. Gordy goes right after Raven throwing him out of the ring and into the crowd. Gordy with several chair shots to Raven’s back. They disappear into the crowd. When we see them again Raven is busted wide open as they fight in the aisle. They go to the stage under the commentators area and Gordy beats on Raven with chairs again. This could be the worst beating Raven has ever taken. They make it to the ring as Gordy hits a clothesline. Gordy whips Raven to a corner and hits a clothesline and does it twice. Richards comes in with a Steviekick but Gordy blocks it. Raven with a low blow. He gets barbed wire from Richards and tries to hits Gordy with it but Gordy ducks and hits another clothesline. Gordy with the oriental spike on Raven. The ref tries to stop it and Gordy knocks him down. Richards back in the ring with a Steviekick. Raven hits a DDT and retains in 6.15. Dreamer DDTs Raven on a chair. Sandman stalks Raven outside the ring. Peaches shows up dressed in grunge clothing with Tyler Sandman’s son. Raven puts the mic in front of Tyler and he says that he worships Raven. Beulah who is now in the ring gets on the mic and calls Peaches a whore. Raven drags Peaches and Tyler back to the locker room. Sandman follows them crying. Loud “Terry” chant by the crowd. Bluedust comes to the ring. Kimona Wanalaya grabs him by the balls and Beulah hits a DDT.

Tag Team Champions Eliminators vs. The Gangstas ref Jim Molineaux
This is the Gangstas final title chance. The Samoan Gangsta Party attacks the Gangstas in the aisle. The four men brawl for a bit when the Bruise Brothers hit the ringside area and attack the Gangstas. The Eliminators just wait in the ring, as the Gangstas get beat on. New Jack is covered in blood on the floor. The Gangstas are both helped to the back. Saturn gets on the mic and says they didn’t ask for the Bruise Brothers help. Saturn says they will kick their ass instead of the Gangstas. Saturn ducks a big boot and hits a superkick. Kronus and the other brother go to the floor. Saturn with a body slam and beautiful top rope elbow. There is no ref around yet. Saturn with a plancha out of the ring. Kronus gets in the ring and hits his handspring elbow. In the ring Saturn misses a moonsault. Kronus gets a double big boot. The Gangstas hit the ring and everyone fights! The fight goes on for a few minutes until the referees are able to calm things down.

Samoan Gangsta Party vs. Axl Rotten & Hack Meyers ref Paul Richards
Samoan Gangsta Party made their debuts at Fight the Power by attacking the Gangstas. This is their first match in ECW. They are comprised of Sammy the Silk (Headshrinker Samu) and Big Matty Smalls (later known as Rosey). They are cousins and the sons of the Wild Samoans. Although the ring announcer says they are Samu and Mac Daddy Kane “The Gangstas of Paradise”. That’s odd because Joey talked about them two weeks ago, which is before this match was taped. So they had the names picked out then. Joey ignores the ring announcing. The two teams argue a bit and Axl starts with Smalls who Joey is now calling Mac Daddy Kane. Man am I confused. Kane with a headbutt on Axl and a body slam. Axl floors Kane with a clothesline and tags Hack in. Samu tagged in Hack fires away and Kane comes in. Hack with a double noggin knocker that of course doesn’t work. They each go to a separate corner and hit headbutts. The Gangstas hit the ring at 3 minutes ending this match. The Eliminators and Bruise Brothers also hit the ring and we have a big four team brawl. Locker room empties but they still can’t keep these guys apart. The brawl goes on for about 3 minutes as the fans chant “E-C-W”

TV Champion Pitbull 2 (w/ Francine) vs. “Lionheart” Chris Jericho ref John Finnegan

Pitbull comes to make the save but Shane throws her in the way of a clotheline. Jericho goes for a plancha but Pitbull moves. Pitbull 1 comes to the ring and carries Francine back. Jericho tries to go back in the ring with a top rope frankensteiner but gets powerbombed. Jericho kicks out at 2. Jericho hits a samoan drop. Pitbull catches him on a lionsault and they reverse a tombstone 3 times. Jericho gets thrown from the position out of the ring. Douglas tries to leave with the belt. Jericho comes off the top but gets powerslamed. Jericho goes for a super frankensteiner but it looks like its going to get reversed into a superbomb mid air but Jericho hits the super frankenseiner anyway and gets the win and the title out of no where at 12.11. Jericho and Pitbull shake hands after the match and Shane freaks out at ringside.

Tommy Dreamer (w/ Beulah & Kimona Wanalaya) vs. “Primetime” Brian Lee ref Jim Molineaux Weapons Match
Not sure how a weapons match is different from any other ECW match. Dreamer’s girls bring down a shopping cart full as weapons as Dreamer comes through the crowd and attacks Lee as we get the opening bell. There are also weapons in the ring. I guess that’s the difference, they give them weapons to start. Guitar and garbage can to Lee and then they go to the floor. Lee gets the advantage and they quickly go back in the ring. They brawl back out of the ring and to the outside of the building. Dreamer gets thrown into a garage door and is busted open. Dreamer is handed a chair and hits Lee with it and throws him into the door a few times. Lee suplexes Dreamer on the road. Lee goes face first into the back of a truck. They fight back into the arena and Lee nails Dreamer with a chair. Dreamer is 0-4 in singles matches with Lee. Back in the ring Dreamer takes over with a mailbox and guitar to the head. Irish whip Lee ducks a guitar shot and hits a chokeslam. Lee gets a cinder block and bat. Beulah tries to stop him and Lee goes to choke slam her. Kimona gets in the ring and flashes Lee. Lee gets distracted and lets go. Beulah hits Lee with a frying pan, Dreamer with a stop sign to the head and DDT on the sign and gets the 3 at 9.02! The Bruise Brothers hit the ring. We edit to Lee and Dreamer on a platform above the front door. The brothers have stacked up three tables. Lee choke slams Tommy to the floor through the tables!!!!!

Rob Van Dam vs. Sabu ref John Finnegan
While Van Dam is coming down the aisle Joey tells us that the ring collapsed and we have had a 1-hour delay. Both men were given the option of not having the match tonight but since they hate each other so much they still wanted to go at it. Sabu takes off his neck brace and the match begins. Van Dam dives at Sabu’s legs and Sabu stomps his legs. Van Dam fights back but Sabu cuts him off and snap mares him. Springboard leg lariat to a seated Van Dam. The ropes break on the ring they are still attached but very loose. Sabu gets a chiar and throws it at Van Dam. Sabu hits the triple jump moonsault and Van Dam rolls to the floor. Sabu crotches Van Dam on the guardrail and hits a suicide dive into the crowd. They fight in the crowd. Van Dam leg drops Sabu in the bleachers and throws a chair at him. Back in the ring Van Dam comes off the top with a chair and flips and kinda hits Sabu with it. Air Sabu in the corner. Sabu is favoring his hand and Styles thinks he may have a broken finger. Van Dam throws a chair at Sabu. Van Dam throws Sabu into a corner picks up the chair rolls and leaves it in the middle of the ring. The chair opens up a bit as Van Dam monkey flips Sabu onto the open chair. Sabu is lucky he didn’t get really hurt landing on the wrong spot of the chair. Van Dam again throws a chair at Sabu. Sabu drop kicks Van Dam’s knee. Springboard bulldog by Sabu gets a 2 count. Van Dam flips out of a belly to back suplex and they fall to the floor. Sabu back in and Van Dam gets placed face up on the second rope. Sabu hits a leg drop for 2. Sabu picks up a chair and Van Dam spin kicks it. They go to the floor and Van Dam whips in Sabu to the rail and charges but misses. Sabu puts Van Dam on a table and runs off a chair onto the ropes and leaps into the crowd onto Van Dam who had rolled off the table. Sabu puts Van Dam on the table again. He stands on the table dazed and Sabu runs off the chair onto the ropes leaps off and DDTs Van Dam through the table. Back in the ring Sabu gets a 2 count. He goes for the triple jump moonsault but misjudges his jump to the ropes and lands crotch first. Van Dam jumps off the chair with a kick that sends Sabu to the floor. Van Dam gets a 2 count back in the ring. He sets Sabu on the top turnbuckle and goes for the fishermen buster. Sabu blocks it pushes Van Dam off and then leaps off with a DDT. Van Dam gets his foot on the rope at 1. Sabu goes up top but Van Dam cuts him off. Van Dam hits the super fishermen buster, the same move that stretchered Sabu out a few weeks ago. Sabu manages to kick out at 2. Van Dam goes for another buster but Sabu reverses it and hits one of his own. Sabu goes up top and hits a somersault Arabian facebuster. Sabu covers and gets the win at 19.39. Referees, EMTs and Paul E. Dangerously hit the ring to check in on everyone. Van Dam gets stretchered out and they go to put Sabu on one but he gets up and poses. Sabu collapses back to the mat and is put on a stretcher as our show cuts away.

My thoughts on the show
Another awesome ECW Arena show here. Top to bottom great action. Stevie Richards again is fucking gold. The shoot fight delivered in it’s short time but as a whole storyline was really good. Terry Gordy put on a hell of a show and as I said in the recap I hope he’s around for a bit. New TV Champion in Jericho, Dreamer takes a SICK bump and Sabu and Van Dam have another really good match. A must see show!

1. US Champion Sheamus vs. Cesaro (w/Paul Heyman). Non-Title match. Sheamus gets booed big time. Cesaro gets the win with a German suplex. After the match, Sheamus offers a handshake but Cesaro refuses. Some struggling for position leads to Cesaro taking a powder… Back inside Cesaro takes over, but Sheamus comes back with the 10 forearm clubs on Cesaro. Cesaro escapes a rolling Slam and powders, but Sheamus keeps controls. The crowd gives a crap less, chanting for JBL and Lawler, amongst others things, rather than supporting Sheamus. -Commercial Break-

3. R-Truth & Naomi (or Cameron) vs. Fandango & Layla. The fans are Fandangoing. It’s unclear which member of the Funkadactyls is teaming with R-Truth because they both come out, and the match never starts as Summer Rae returns. Summer storms to the ring, kisses Fandango and goes right to attacking Layla and the two girls brawl. For as uneventful as it was, it was still probably the most interesting thing involving a Diva in the last God knows how long (not counting AJ)….

– You best BO-LIEVE, Bo Dallas debuts on Smackdown!

-Commercial Break-

– In order to get more heat, Daniel Bryan’s music hits to a big pop but Stephanie McMahon comes out instead… Stephanie comes out and cuts a promo that the fans don’t want to hear… Live reports say that the chants of “CM Punk” among other things were done to drown Stephanie out in the arena… Wish I could have been there so I wouldn’t have had to hear her… Stephanie has some BAD NEWS… And yes, she even says it in Barrett’s accent, or at least tries to…

Steph wants to strip Bryan of the WWE World Heavyweight Title but wants him on next week’s RAW to forfeit it himself, because that’s what’s best for business… Stephanie wonders who she’s going to award the title to, Kane? Barrett? Batista? HHH? As this continues on, I realize how much she needs to be off TV…. This certainly isn’t helping their product…

The angle continues next week… More Stephanie… Goody…

Well ADR lost, the future of the planet is finished. To quote Spaceballs… “Oh Shit, there goes the planet!”…47

-Commercial Break-

– Backstage segment with Renee Young, John Cena and The Usos. Cena starts off cutting the generic promo, he wants the Usos in his corner… They start humming and beating their chests… Nothing says Wyatt Family feud like a good dose of silly in the segment… Who thinks this stuff is a good idea? This is why nobody can stay invested in a good storyline, angle or allow themselves to get emotionally attached. Everything turns to comedy when Cena is involved. And the way this feud is going, they change it up every week, one week it’s serious, then it’s comedy, then Cena blames the fans, now he’s funny Cena again. This crap confuses the casual fan… Book a serious angle, and stick with what’s working… How hard is that???

– Seth Rollins vs. Batista is next. Evolution is backstage and ready…

-Commercial Break-

HHH is out to be the special ring announcer and Randy Orton is the special timekeeper. Rollins brings out Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns as special commentators.

-Commercial Break-

7. WWE Divas Champion Paige vs. Alicia Fox. Non-Title match. Fox attacks Paige at the start and never let up… Fox just beats the crap out of Paige, lays some kicks into her head and gets the pin in maybe 2:00….

They’ve gotta beat 4:15… Henry floors Ziggler early and often… Powerslam gets 2… Ziggler eventually rolls to the floor…RVD watches from the back… Ziggler gets back inside and manages to land the Famouser, but either Henry blows the bump or they were going for a different version of the move… Anyway, Famouser gets 2 and Dolph throws back outside.. TIME RUNS OUT AS ZIGGLER COVERS!!! I know they’re fighting to beat the clock, but should the match end just because he won’t beat RVD’s time?

RVD wins the Beat the Clock Challenge… RVD comes out to celebrate but gets leveled with the BULL HAMMER ELBOW from Bad News Barrett….. Barrett has some bad news for RVD… The bad news is RVD has to meet Barrett for the IC Title… BNB puts over England, and says he’s not going to lose to a bloody yank, and the British Bulldog’s theme plays…. Seriously… Davey Boy’s theme plays… Creepy…

Jim Ross Blogs On What WWE Can Do To Fix Problems

0

Source: JR’s BBQ

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross is back with a new blog on jrsbarbq.com. As always, you can purchase JR’s BBQ products on WWEshop.com. Ross wrote about WWE fixing their current problems:

My thoughts on WW’s recent communications and the fallout regarding their stock is simple. I outlined most of my take on this matter in the last blog that I authored.
However, I feel the solution is as simple as producing a more compelling TV product, putting key talents in a positive position to make a difference and overall ‘booking’ a better product that will appeal to the existing die hard fans and entice disenfranchised fans to return to the fold with a style of product that appeals to more to a mass audience of sports entertainment fans.

No fan, old or new, wants to sit through bad acting or long scenes that feature such. Dramatic, organic, dynamic promos where performers express themselves regarding a hot, personal issue or the importance of becoming a champion do not fall in the category of bad acting within the genre IMO.

Fans also do not need to be subjected to poorly executed comedy that is simply not funny. If comedy is written to satisfy a small aspect of the audience and that could be as small as the decision makers it should not be on TV. Simple, right?

Talents who have been percolating and touching the next level should e turned loose and given the chance to make a legit difference. In WWE, Dolph Ziggler comes to mind, in TNA guys like James Storm or Bobby Roode pop into my head as does a Michael Elgin in ROH.

Likely multiple other names belong on this off the top of my head listing but the bottom line is that if talents have gotten close but their creative push has been cut short for whatever the reason then perhaps it’s time to re-evaluate that mindset and put them back in the game if they are sound of mind and body.

At the end of the day, any company’s whose ‘sales’ are down has to focus on attracting new customers using smart marketing and consistently delivering a great product. Yep….it’s easier said than done but it’s doable.

Refine it, yes. Change it and continue to distance one’s self from the fundamental aspects of the business is as illogical as any business ignoring the basic rules of economics. If one spends more than one earns said entity is certainly doomed for failure. That goes for ALL business as the basic laws of economics are just as viable today as they were when the concept was created. Same goes for the fundamentals of pro wrestling which are just as viable today as they were back in the day.

Recap From WWE’s Business Outlook Conference Call

0

Vince McMahon and George Barrios are hosting a Business Outlook conference call with investors today at 11am EST. Below are highlights:

Michael Weitz opened the call by reading a prepared statement to open the conference call. He announced Vince McMahon.

* Vince McMahon thanks the listeners for tuning in. He mentions that he is in London for Raw, so he apologizes for any audio problems. He said he tried – he isn’t sure as to whether he failed – to provide transparency in regards to WWE Network. He says WWE has always prided itself on being transparent, which is why this call is taking place. He said he was disappointed in the NBCU deal but, when you look at worldwide TV deals, WWE nearly doubled their deals. It’s less than what he wanted, but still a good deal.

* He calls WWE Network the most important initiative in the company. WWE has invested significantly in it and has seen significant growth in it. Ratings and live event attendance are solid. He says WWE is blazing a new trail, and wants to be entirely transparent with this new business model. He then hands the call over to George Barrios.

* George Barrios recaps the timeline of the creation of WWE Network. Their business analysis had come to the conclusion that their content was undervalued. He goes over how their worldwide deals will result in a significant increase in revenue. The global expansion of WWE Network will be a profitable step. If their goal of 1.3-1.4 million worldwide WWE Network subscribers is reached by 2015, it would generate approximately $40 million, which would be equal to the company’s pay-per-view business in 2012. If WWE Network were to surpass 2 million subscribers by 2015, the company would see income in the range of $125-$200 million. Additional company investments include increasing international presence, costs related to the WWE Performance Center, and other costs.

* He reiterates that having reached nearly 670,000 WWE Network subscribers around WrestleMania season, they foresee a steady increase over the rest of the year. He outlines WWE’s 5-part strategy to gain subscribers: creating new compelling content, opening the Network globally, expanding the distribution platforms, developing new features, and developing high-impact marketing campaigns.

The Q&A with investors is up next.

* A caller asked about how WWE had previously said that the launch of the WWE Network would not negatively affect television deals. Vince says that the Network certainly affected the deals negatively. He said that if he had waited until the television deals were completed, however, he would have had to wait another year to launch the Network, as the goal was to release the Network around the strongest part of the year, WrestleMania season. He called it a “chicken or the egg” situation.

* A caller asked if investors should assume the dividend is safe. Barrios says that if WWE is successful with its business strategy, they have support to protect the dividend. It just requires successful execution over the next 12 months. Vince says that over-the-top content is the future, and we will likely be seeing more and more of it as time goes on.

It was also noted that none of WWE’s current TV deals with NBC Universal or otherwise are more than 5 years in length.

– Bryan Alvarez of F4Wonline.com noted that it was suggested to someone by him within WWE that perhaps the company is planning on doing a new storyline similar to the Nation of Domination. This isn’t a confirmed plan or anything but it was mentioned by someone in WWE when talking about how Rusev had wins over Xavier Woods, R-Truth and Kofi Kingston, and is now apparently feuding with Big E.

– We heard a report that Rob Van Dam may have hurt his shoulder at last Wednesday’s WWE live event in Glasgow but he has worked every event on the tour since then so he appears to be fine.

– Jim Ross joined Matthew Aaron and guest co-host former WWE Diva Victoria (Lisa Marie Varon) this past Thursday evening on The Matthew Aaron Show to discuss his one man show, his weekly podcast and much more. During the interview, JR talked about his discussions with UFC. He noted that he is a big fan of their product, and that most of their discussions have been in regards to UFC Fight Pass, which is the company’s digital network. As we’ve noted before, JR was featured on a Brock Lesnar feature that aired on Fight Pass.

– Shawn Michaels was at the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race this past weekend. FOX Sports has an article about HBK’s appearance at this link. Speedway TV Pit Reporter Lenny Batycki noted that HBK’s son was now racing US Legend Cars.

– WWE has signed top West Coast independent wrestler Willie Mack to a developmental deal. His real name is Willie McClinton Jr. Mack is best known for his work in Pro Wrestling Guerilla and Championship Wrestling from Hollywood.

Mack was offered a deal by WWE after participating in a tryout earlier this year. He’s expected to begin training at the WWE Performance Center in July.

Bob Holly Talks Daniel Bryan As Champ, Why Dolph Ziggler Should Be Champ, More

0

Partial Credit: Raj Giri

Bob Holly appeared on The Shoot radio show yesterday for nearly one hour to talk about a variety of topics including why he thinks John Cena should “shut his trap” about younger guys stepping up, if he deserves a spot in the hall of fame, thoughts on Roman Reigns being the next big star and more. Here are a few highlights, you can check out the full interview at this link, it starts at the 1 hour mark.

Why Dolph Ziggler should be a world champion:

“I love this guy. He is the best talent. He has everything it takes to be number one. They (WWE) sit there and their always preaching that you gotta have the heart, desire and will. You gotta work your butt off and on and on and it’s like Sheamus was the world champion within six months. How did he deserve to be world champion? Don’t insult the fans intelligence by telling them it takes this this this and this to make it to the top when it doesn’t. It’s Hunter’s choice or whoever is at the round table. It’s their choice, but Dolph Ziggler does sells tickets. How many times does Dolph Ziggler have to step it up and say hey look at me? Every time he’s stepping in the ring he’s saying look at me look what i can do. That guy steals the show every single night at house shows, I will guarantee it.”

The WWE Hall of Fame:

“They try to make that Hall of Fame legitimate. But if you notice, to me it’s politically driven. A dead giveaway is Hunter wanting all of his little buddies, his little circle first. He’s taken care of all them. But the thing is, how can you put Lita in the Hall of Fame? Not saying she doesn’t deserve to be there, but how can you put her in there before Chyna? Chyna is the first and only female Intercontinental champion and that’s what drives me nuts because their trying to make this a legitimate hall of fame and it’s obvious they pick and choose who they want in there. If this was pro football or basketball or anything else, Chyna would be in there.” The host then mentioned her not being selected is likely due to her Adult movie roles and publicized issues with drugs and alcohol to which Bob replied, “you look at all the guys who had drug and alcohol problems and they get inducted, come on. She’s done porn so what, who cares? The thing is, she gave a lot to the business and she was a big deal. I’m not defending anybody as to what they choose outside of the wrestling world, but what she gave to the wrestling world was really big.”

Daniel Bryan:

“I’m glad he won the title. He’s another one who worked his tail off and he deserves it. I don’t care about his size. Some people do but it shouldn’t be that way. Wrestling isn’t real, so why should it matter? I think he deserves to be world champion, despite his ups and downs trying to get there. I’m sorry to hear his dad passed away. With the neck surgery though, he needs to stop doing the missile dropkick. Every time i saw him doing that i was like that has got to hurt his neck because it whiplashes your neck. That’s another one he needs to stop doing in addition to the headbutt. My advice to him is enjoy the ride. If they strip the title from him and he never gets to the point where he gets it back, he had it, he made it, enjoy the ride from here on out. He’s still making good money. His merchandise sales are through the roof. Just enjoy the ride, have a good career with WWE and don’t do those two moves.”

Mick Foley To Make Major Announcement On His Future, More

0

Partial Credit: Matt ANthony

WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley mentioned on Facebook earlier today that he plans on making an announcement this Tuesday regarding his future. Foley wrote:

“After giving the matter much thought, I have come to an important decision regarding my future. I know that not everyone will agree with, or support the decision, but I do hope the decision will be respected. I will make the announcement on Tuesday afternoon.”

Thanks to Vic Schiavone for the following recap of Mick Foley on In Your Head Wrestling Radio:

Host Jack E. Jones recently interviewed hardcore legend and former WWE Champion Mick Foley on a special edition of IYH Wrestling Radio. Mick answered several questions about his comedy stand-up routine and the current state of professional wrestling.

Highlights included the following:

* If someone is not familiar with your stand-up, how would you explain it?

“It is a wrestling-centered story-telling show, but it’s accessible to non-fans as well. For wrestling fans, there’s no need to worry about me embarrassing myself with set-ups and punch lines, and for non-fans, they’ll have a much better time than they’re expecting. If they’re dragged against their will by a loved one, they will end up having a very good time.”

* Would you agree that there is a lot of great new talent in the WWE right now?

“Oh yeah, I love the new talent. I think they’ve done a great job at the WWE. For all the flack they sometimes get for bringing in guys from the past to headline shows they’ve done this amazing job of making huge new stars from the developmental area. They come in and they really have faith and realize that building guys is a process that doesn’t happen overnight.”

* What did you think of the opening segment on the April 28th RAW featuring The Wyatt Family and the children’s choir?

“It was wonderful. I know to some people it was a little freaky, but that was the point. It was something I believe wrestling fans will remember; it will go down as a great segment. I’d never seen anything like it. It was so good that I wish I had done it when I was Mankind. I was a big believer in juxtaposing innocence and creepiness, and sometimes I even did it in song. Whereas I sang ‘Close To You’ by the Carpenters in creepy fashion, he sings ‘I’ve Got the Whole World in My Hands’. It’s really effective; it’s really a great character.”

Jerry Lawler Talks McMahon’s Reaction To His Lawsuit Against WWE, And More

0

Jonathan Snowden of The Bleacher Report interviewed WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler last week. Here are a few highlights from the interview:
Austin Idol on the mic and if The Rock thinking that Idol delivered one of the best promos that he’s ever heard:

“Well, I’m not going to say he was the best ever. But he was great. He was awesome. That was, of course, his strong point, and when I look at the Rock, I can see that he might have patterned some of his promos after Austin Idol.

“He was a guy that probably could have had a huge career nationwide. But Austin was involved in a plane crash down in Florida. He survived the crash, which killed one of the other wrestlers on the flight—Bobby Shane—and hurt him pretty bad. After that, he had a fear of flying. And who could blame him?

“He just didn’t want to travel, so he couldn’t go to a place like WWE. He worked mainly the Memphis territory and that was pretty much it.”

Still wrestling despite suffering a heart attack:

“I was cleared by my personal doctor almost a year ago. I still do shows on the independent circuit. I’ve got two coming up this weekend. I just haven’t gotten back in the WWE ring. But I still feel mentally and physically as good as when I first started. I don’t know how to explain it.”

Suing WWF for Harley Race being given the “King” gimmick:

“I filed a lawsuit when they ran a show in Jackson, Tennessee. I sued Vince McMahon and the WWE for trademark infringement, claiming I was the king of wrestling in the state of Tennessee. And I actually won the case. I think Vince really respected that. It didn’t make him mad. I think he got a kick out of it.”

Lawler also discussed signing with the WWF in the 90s, his feud with Austin Idol, becoming a commentator, his career in Memphis and much more. You can check out the full interview by clicking here.
