Snoop Dogg Going Into The WWE Hall Of Fame?

0

It’s been expected that TV host Regis Philbin would be inducted into the Celebrity Wing of the WWE Hall of Fame this year but Jim Ross noted on his “Ross Report” podcast today that rapper Snoop Dogg is rumored to be inducted.

Snoop, a big pro wrestling fan, hosted RAW back in 2009 and most recently appeared in 2015 for a segment with Hulk Hogan. He’s also the cousin of Sasha Banks.

Snoop’s induction has not been confirmed and Ross mentioned that’s what he heard through the grapevine but doesn’t know if it’s true.

As noted, WWE is also expected to announce a Warrior Award recipient for this year’s Hall of Fame Class. Stan Hansen is the only wrestler left to announce as his induction was confirmed in a WrestleMania magazine that’s been published. They will join Sting, The Fabulous Freebirds, The Godfather, Jacqueline and Big Bossman in this year’s Class.

Gawker Founder And Former Editor Testify On Newsworthy Items In Hulk Hogan’s Sex Tape

Credit William Windsor for the write up.

Hulk Hogan’s $100-million sex tape lawsuit against online media company Gawker continued this week with both Gawker founder, Nick Denton, and former Gawker editor, A.J. Daulerio, taking the witness stand.

On cross-examination, Denton, whose testimony was spread out over two days, testified that celebrities enjoy “a smaller zone” of privacy than other members of the general public. Denton claimed that the sex video edited by Gawker had “value” insofar as it was interesting to millions of people. Also, Denton stated that the clip was in step with Gawker’s mission of producing “true and interesting” content.

The one minute and forty-one second clip published by Gawker, which was pared down from a video about thirty minutes in duration, includes nine seconds of sex. Denton told jurors that Gawker would not be protected by constitutional freedom of speech principles if the sex shown in Gawker’s clip was gratuitous in nature.

Daulerio, who was Gawker’s editor when the clip was published, echoed Denton’s testimony, indicating that the clip included only nine seconds of actual sex for the purpose of confirming that the encounter really happened. Daulerio, who admitted that Hogan’s p—s is not newsworthy, testified that the most interesting parts of the video were the conversations between Hogan and Heather Clem, Hogan’s sexual partner in the video.

Notably, Daulerio also admitted that he gave no thought to blurring out any of the images in the video and no effort was made to contact Hogan before the video was published.

In 2012, Gawker posted an approximately two-minute video, which shows Hogan having a sexual encounter with the then-wife of radio shock jock, Bubba ‘The Love Sponge’ Clem. The civil case turns on the legal question of whether Hogan’s right to privacy trumps the newsworthiness of the sex tape and Gawker’s freedom of speech under the First Amendment of the United States Constitution.

While Gawker argues that Hogan has made his sex life a matter of public concern by talking about it openly in the media, Hogan counters that he still suffers from the humiliation of the sex tape being published. A verdict in favor of ‘The Hulkster’ could put Gawker out of business.

As noted, Neville suffered a broken ankle and broken shinbone on a baseball slide during Monday’s WWE RAW match against Chris Jericho.

Neville underwent more tests in Orlando at the WWE Performance Center on Monday and WWE’s Dr. Chris Amann reports that he will not need surgery. Neville is expected back in 2-3 months. Amann told WWE’s website:

“Neville had some repeat testing done in Orlando today which included X-Rays and a cat scan of his ankle. Upon further review, it has been determined that surgical repair of the ankle would not be necessary. Instead, he will be treated nonoperatively with a cast and crutches. The estimated return for this type of fracture is usually 2 to 3 months.”

Edge Talks WWE WrestleMania, Working With Christian And More On ESPN, Coach’s Top Moments

0

– “Legends of WrestleMania Month” on ESPN SportsCenter continued tonight with WWE Hall of Famer Edge. As seen above, this week’s “Off The Top Rope” segment kicked off with Jonathan Coachman naming Edge’s top WrestleMania moments – Top Main Event was against The Undertaker at WrestleMania 24, Top Spot was spearing Mick Foley through the flaming table at WrestleMania 22, Top Match was the TLC Match from WrestleMania 16 with The Dudley Boyz and The Hardy Boyz.

Edge talks about being in the crowd for Hulk Hogan vs. The Ultimate Warrior and that’s when he knew he wanted to wrestle at WrestleMania some day. Regarding the TLC match at WrestleMania 2000 mentioned above, Edge says they all knew they had to do something different to get noticed in WWE at that time because there were so many other top stars. Regarding the flaming table spot with Foley, Edge says he was in the mind-frame where he wanted to be in the main event and if he wasn’t, he was going to make sure everyone came out of the event thinking he should have been in the main event. Coach brings up The Undertaker vs. Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 32 and asks about Edge vs. Taker in 2009. Edge says when he got the call to do the match he thought “finally” because that’s where he had been trying to get to, especially against an icon like The Undertaker. Edge says he knew he had done something right. Edge says he made his entrance and had never been that amped before. They also talk about teaming with Christian and he says there is no Edge without him. He says the toughest transition for both of them was trying to find their feet as singles wrestlers. Regarding their new WWE Network show, Edge says they’re going to make fun of themselves more than anyone else but everyone is fair game. He says this is your show if you enjoy nonsensical entertainment and just want to have fun.

Coach also asks about the final weeks leading up to his final WrestleMania and RAW before retiring. Edge calls the last week a “whirlwind” but says he had been preparing himself. Edge says he was in the stage of his career where he just wanted to work with younger talents. Edge also talks about his favorite WrestleMania moments and more.
