Ric Flair’s Return To WWE TV As A Regular Character, Potential Health Issue

0

Source: PWInsider Elite

As of Monday, Ric Flair still had not been to Pittsburgh for WWE’s medical tests that are required before he can be brought back as a regular on-air talent.

One source believed that Flair could still be dealing with the blood clot in his leg. WWE doesn’t allow their active performers to use blood thinners so that could be a problem. For what it’s worth, it was mentioned in Flair’s new interview with Mike Mooneyham that his blood clot issue had “cleared up.”

As noted, Flair was backstage at Tuesday night’s tapings in Atlanta but we haven’t heard an update yet.

Why WWE Didn’t Sign Top Indie Wrestler, Which Producer Tried To Help Him

0

Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

We noted before that top indie wrestler Ricochet had a tryout with WWE several months ago at a camp. Word is that he was very good in the ring but still wasn’t offered a deal. A person close to WWE developmental said Ricochet was a victim of timing and circumstances.

Apparently when Ricochet came in, there were younger wrestlers in developmental who reacted to him like he was a big deal but to WWE, he’s just a guy who they don’t know that’s getting a tryout for a developmental deal. It’s said that because officials didn’t know who he was and got the reaction that he did from talents, that was the first strike against him until producer Jamie Noble outright told people that Ricochet is really something special.

In the end, Noble’s praise didn’t help and he wasn’t offered a deal. While Ricochet received high marks from those that judge talents at the tryouts, the decision was that they already have too many guys of his size in developmental and they have more than their quota of high flyers, as we’ve heard with other cases.

Silva Comments On UFC 175 Removal, Dana White On Sonnen v. Belfort

0

– Wanderlei Silva has released his first statements since being removed from UFC 175 and a fight with Chael Sonnen. Vitor Belfort was tabbed to replace Silva after “The Axe Murderer” did not comply with a drug test from the Nevada Athletic Commission. Sonnen stated on UFC Tonight this week that Silva ran away when an official from the Nevada Athletic Commission approached Silva for a surprise drug test. While Silva tells a different tale than what Sonnen revealed, it all equates to him not being able to obtain a fight license to compete in Nevada in July. Silva, though, does believe he will be able to explain everything once he returns to the country.

“I have invested all my time and I’ve gone through a lot to make this fight happen. This is all a big confusion,” said Silva, in a video interview. “Everything I’ve heard, I heard it from the internet.”

Silva continued, saying he was at his gym – like Sonnen claimed – when a member of the commission showed up with papers written in English.

“I told him that I can’t read English very well and would need my lawyer present to be able to sign,” he said. “Then I had to leave since it was the day of (Renan) Barao’s fight and I was really busy in Las Vegas.”

– Turns out everything Chael Sonnen said on UFC Tonight recently might not be true. Sonnen now faces Vitor Belfort this July at UFC 175, and stated the fight was for the No. 1 contendership in the UFC’s middleweight division, despite the fight being contested at light heavyweight. While promoting UFC Fight Night: Munoz vs. Mousasi in Germany Friday, UFC president Dana White clarified what is at stake.

“I’m not saying he’ll [Sonnen] get a title shot, but it will be big for him,” White said, in an interview with Fighters Only. “The fight has been made at middleweight, though, so we’ll see what happens.”

That is another change, as Sonnen said the contest would be at light heavyweight. Chris Weidman defends his middleweight title against Lyoto Machida in the main event.

Mikey Whipwreck defeated Paul Lauria and it led right into a tag team title match with Mikey and Sabu taking on the Eliminators. The Eliminators retained their belts after a good match. Bill Alfonso vs. Tod Gordon ref Jim Molineaux Reverse Lumberjack Match (1996/07/12 Agricultural Hall in Allentown, PA)
So the way this match works is there are 4 lumberjacks on the outside of the ring to keep Taz out. Axl Rotten with a bat, Sandman with his cane, Mikey Whipwreck with a chair and Pitbull 1 with a chair. The match is joined in progress. Gordon gets in the ring and hits Alfonso with a cookie sheet. Gordon goes for the cover but Taz down the aisle. The ref goes to the corner to tell Taz to leave. Ummm isn’t that what the lumberjacks are for? Gordon goes over to complain and Alfonso picks up Rotten’s bat that was left behind. Gordon gets hit with the bat and Alfonso with the win. 1.05 is shown. Alfonso is busted open pretty badly.

Misirlou promos; Taz is training and Bill Alfonso is talking about training Taz wants Sabu, New Jack makes fun of SMW and Jim Cornette, Joey Styles shills Heatwave home video the Eliminators show up and they talk about the 4 way dance, Steve Richards talks about having a bad childhood and adulthood, Brian Lee says no one that Raven hangs out with matters to him but Raven has his soul, Bluedust checks in on Stevie to make sure he’s ok, Bluedust and Patricia talk about coming out of the closet, Shane Douglas wants the belt back, and the Gangstas get attacked by the Samoan Gangsta Party in the middle of the road. New Jack gets suplexed on the road and they decide after a little arguing not to run over Mustafa’s head.

My thoughts on this show
The tag title match is worth a viewing. If you saw HeatWave this is an easy skip through, unless you REALLY like House of Pain.

He wakes up Pitbull 2 by slapping him and telling him to get them. Pitbull 2 is up and pissed. Clothesline, another and a third takes them both over the ropes. Pitbull 1 has Francine. SUPER BOMB THROUGH A TABLE!!!!!! They killed her!!! Shane DDTs Pitbull 1 onto the belt and hits Pitbull 2 with it. Pitbull 2 kicks out though. My thoughts on the show
Well this match is pretty awesome. If you can’t see HeatWave and can only pick 1 TV episode that recaps it, pick this one. Everything is there.

Daniel Bryan’s Return To Action And The Buried Alive Match Against Kane

0

Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

It turns out that some of the WWE live event listings for June that advertised WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan may have been done before his surgery and just “fell through the cracks” in regards to being published by arenas.

It’s said that Bryan wrestling a match before the June 29th Money In the Bank pay-per-view is highly unlikely. Bryan’s return is still very much up in the air.

If Bryan’s not ready to do the Buried Alive Match against Kane at Money In the Bank, they’re hoping to do it at the Battleground pay-per-view on July 20th in Tampa.

Roddy Piper Gets Heat From WWE, Tyson Kidd Repackaged, Wyatt’s Future, More

0

Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

– The Wrestling Observer noted that while it’s becoming somewhat of a regular thing, WWE officials have been very upset with Roddy Piper lately. The heat may come from Piper’s recent comments about Pat Patterson on a Kayfabe Commentaries DVD or could be from some of the negative comments he’s made about Legends House on social media and while doing promotion for the show. For those curious in regards to the Kayfabe Commentaries DVD, Roddy Piper was doing the Timeline for 1984 WWF and somehow got to talking about his time in the California territories during the early part of his career. Pat Patterson’s name came up and Piper made some rather negative allusions and seemed rather disturbed when talking about it in regards to Patterson taking advantage of young guys in the business.

– We noted before that WWE will be re-packaging Tyson Kidd under a mask soon. We know that they have already had a mask done by a Lucha Libre mask maker. There’s no word yet if this means they will be pushing Kidd’s new character as a Mexican star but the mask that was made is indeed a Lucha style mask.

– Mick Foley did a comedy show in Jacksonville, Florida last week and received boos from the crowd when he brought up The Undertaker losing at WrestleMania XXX. Foley said Brock Lesnar was the perfect guy to end The Streak because whoever did end it was going to get a lot of heat on them but that wouldn’t bother Lesnar. Foley said nobody cares less about what people in or out of the business think of him than Lesnar.

– There are a lot of people within WWE that expect Bray Wyatt to be a full-on babyface some time before the end of this year.

– WWE Hall of Famer Bob Orton Jr. wrestled in front of 10 fans on May 24th at a local independent wrestling show. Randy Orton’s dad ended up taking more photos with wrestlers than with fans. The promoter, who did pay Orton, came out and cut a heel promo saying that there are too many indie promotions. His promo contained adult language when there was a few kids in attendance among the 10.

– Emma will be going to Australia this June to do promotional work for WWE’s events in Sydney, Perth and Melbourne this August. WWEDVD.com.au is giving fans in each city the chance to meet Emma in June.. In 25 words or less, fans can explain what they would call themselves and why if they could be the next Aussie WWE Superstar. E-mail your answer, city, name, age and phone number to comps@shock.com.au with the subject, “MEET EMMA COMP.” The deadline is midnight on June 3rd.

– Former WWE Superstar Manu, real name Afa Anoa’i Jr., recently landed a role on a new MTV series that began filming this week.
