Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

As noted earlier, The Big Show started filming WWE Studios’ next action movie, Vendetta, last week. Jen and Sylvia Soska are directing the movie, who also directed WWE Studios’ upcoming See No Evil 2 horror movie starring Kane.

Dave Meltzer noted in the most recent issue of The Wrestling Observer that Show will be off of WWE television while he films the movie. He noted that Show hadn’t been used much lately since he was leaving anyway to film the movie. Show’s last appearance on television was a match against Randy Orton on the June 6th episode of SmackDown, which you can watch above.

“Hacksaw” Jim Duggan talks heat with Tony Atlas, Legends’ House, And More

0

WWE Hall of Famer “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan recently spoke with Jonathan Snowden of Bleacher Report. Here are a few highlights:

The emotional season finale of Legends House:

“I don’t think that was anything that was really planned. That just goes to show how close the eight of us, or the seven of us and Tony (Atlas), got over that period of time, being away from our families and just being together. I don’t’ think anyone expected that episode to go the way it did. I think Jimmy (Hart) started the ball rolling when he shared what had happened in his life and I told a story I very seldom tell. It was very traumatic for me. And then Pat went. It just goes to show how close we became.”

The Legends House reunion that was filmed earlier this year:

“It was great to see everybody. It was the first time all eight of us have been together since. I had seen (Roddy) Piper an Jimmy Hart on the road and I’ve talked to Hillbilly (Jim) on the phone, but for the eight of us to get together again was a lot of fun. It was even kind of good to see Tony. The first two minutes.”

How he wants fans to remember him:

“I think the character is just an extension of my personality. My old buddy Bret Hart always said “I’m the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be.” I always say “I’m Hacksaw Duggan. I try hard.” I think that people saw that in me. That’s why I can still go to the ring today. People see Hacksaw is an extension of my personality. What’s out there is genuine. When I’m cheering “USA, USA” it’s coming from the heart.”

Speaking of Duggan, he talked about his heat with Tony Atlas in an interview with Philly.com.

“With Piper and I, even though we didn’t really know each other, once we got there and got to talk we noticed we had a lot in common,” Atlas said. “In our profession there is a high divorce rate, a high drug and alcoholism rate, a high death rate and Piper and I sat and talked and we both realized that it’s about family. He loves his family, he’s been with his wife for a while, we had an awful lot more in common than we had thought.”

“With Tony Atlas and I, I’ve known Tony for 25, 30 years and we butted heads that whole length of time, but we’ve always been in a dressing room, locker room type of situation where you’re not together all the time. I just got tired of his B.S. Tony had trouble with everybody in the house. I can understand having trouble with me Piper and I. We’re kind of hard to deal with anyway, but to have trouble with Hillbilly Jim? Hillbilly is almost like a Buddhist monk, he’s so easy-going and you got to work at it to have trouble with Billy.”

Tonight’s show is LIVE from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. It’s great to have a live show to watch.
The show opens with a collection of clips from the main event at Slammiversary, finishing up with Eric Young pinning Austin Aries after a massive piledriver.

When we go live, MVP, Bobby Lashley and Kenny King make their way to the ring. MVP says that what happened 4 days ago was a travesty and that he had been reprimanded by the TNA Board of Directors. He says that he isn’t going to let a bunch of suits in Dallas or Nashville tell him how to do business.

MVP then calls out Eric Young, who says that the only travesty Sunday was that he didn’t get a chance to punch MVP in the face.

EY says he’s not very patient and wants to come down and punch someone in the mouth.

Eric Young vs Kenny King

After a couple of minutes of action between the two, down to the ring comes Samoa Joe, Austin Aries and The Wolves to make sure that EY gets a fair fight.

Some high impact moves from King and then EY showing some power moves led to Young reversing a King back drop into a small package for the 1 – 2 – 3.

Winner of the match is TNA Heavyweight Champion Eric Young

It appears after the opening match, that Young and his friends aren’t going to let MVP and his group run wild without repercussions.

However, MVP and his thugs are bullying the time keeper. Back to the ring comes EY and his backups. They all brawl for a bit and then are separated by referees and security. After another brief skirmish, they babyfaces move toward the back and MVP goes berserk in the ring.

He tells Eric Young that he’s gonna have a 2nd title match tonight. Later tonight it will be the Destroyer Bobby Lashley vs EY. The stipulation is that all other wrestlers will be escorted from the building by security. The only ones allowed to remain will be EY, Lashley, King and MVP – along with the referee and time keeper.

Next, MVP announces that The Wolves will have to defend their titles vs Aries and Samoa Joe. To make sure that they actually fight, he is adding a mystery 3rd team to the mix.

MVP continues to rant and calls Earl Hebner to the ring and FIRES him.

In the back, Dixie Carter and EC3 are talking and Dixie says she’s not worried about what just happened with MVP and that he is just proving to the board of directors what she has been telling them about the Director of Wrestling Operations.

Next up The Wolves vs Samoa Joe and Austin Aries vs The Mystery Team of Willow and Abyss

It’s Aries vs Willow to start, followed up with Abyss and Samoa Joe in the ring. Remember, The Wolves can lose their belts without being pinned.

In an awesome move just before the break, Aries and Joe turn things on The Wolves and use The Wolves own move of diving through the ropes and then all 4 brawl on the floor.

As the camera cuts away, we see Tommy Dreamer enter the building looking to confront Dixie Carter.

Back from the break, after briefly looking like they were going to go down to defeat, The Wolves then take control against Aries and cut the ring in half and show their tag team skills. Aries is in the ring for several minutes until he finally tags in Abyss.

Quickly, we have Abyss and Samoa Joe in the ring. Joe gets a near-fall on the monster. At this point we have bodies all over the place. Willow makes an amazing flying backwards leap into all 4 of his opponents.

Back in the ring, The Wolves make an impressive double team move on Willow and they get the pin.

Winners of the match: The Wolves

In the back, it’s MVP and company cooking up a plan against Kurt Angle.

Mike Tenay and Tazz discuss the confrontation that is going to take place between Tommy Dreamer and Dixie Carter. Specifics of the issue are given and as we go to break Tazz says, “LIVE MIC, LIVE SHOW” the confrontation is next.

A quick glance into the comment section and it seems like we have a few WWE marks IN DA HOUSE.

We have a quick recap of hour 1 and then see security escorting Samoa Joe and Austin Aries out of the building per MVP’s previous order. Then MVP tells The Wolves that they are not going to be escorted out YET. He then says that they will be defending their belts a 2nd time tonight, just like Eric Young has to.

After The Wolves walk away, MVP tells security to make sure they are removed from the building immediately after their match.

Dixie Carter and Rockstar Spud enter the ring. She talks trash about Bully Ray, MVP and the fans. She then turns her attention to Tommy Dreamer and says that he has been saying vile things about her. She tells us that she invited Dreamer here to meet with her face to face and not hide behind his keyboard.

Tenay then tells us for the 2nd time tonight that Dreamer had permission to use TNA talent for one of his independent promotion when Dixie pulled the talent at the last second.

Dixie tells Dreamer that he needs to apologize while the crowd is chanting Tommy Dreamer.

Dreamer thanks Dixie for inviting him there and then the crowd starts chanting E-C-W.

Dreamer then relives history of how Dixie start off doing right by the fans and wants to what happened to her. What the fans want TNA to succeed, Dixie has turned TNA into her own personal reality show.

Dreamer gets a plug in for his promotion House of Hardcore. He then tells Dixie how he knows there is still hope for her. He saw her in her sky box and cheered like a fan when Kevin Von Erich used a claw hold at Slammiversary.

Dixie and Tommy embrace and Dixie knees Dreamer with a low blow. EC3 then comes out and disposes of Dreamer from the ring.

The speech that Dreamer just gave Dixie is exactly what every true fan of wrestling would say to someone with as much power as Dixie has. One of the best I’ve ever heard.

We cut to the back and see King and Lashley confront Kurt Angle as he arrives. Angle says he wants to talk to MVP.

Noticing in the comments during the break that most people loved Dreamers passionate promo, one even calling it a pipe bomb.

MVP basically blows off Angle and tells him he’ll have to wait for their meeting. Tazz says that MVP just treated the 13 time world champion and Olympic Gold Medalist like a jabroni.

Next up is The Wolves vs Magnus and Bram

Bram uses his superior power against an obviously tired Edwards. When Magnus and Richards tag in Richards take charge. After a great missile drop kick from Richards on Magnus, Bram throws a chair into Magnus who then throws the chair at Richards for a disqualification.

As Bram and Magnus prepare to do some serious damage, out comes Willow and Abyss to make the save.

Winners of the match by disqualification: The Wolves

In the back we see MVP and Brian Hebner. MVP says are you crying? There’s no crying in professional wrestling. MVP then tells Hebner that if he wants to keep getting his paycheck that he will count 1-2-3 on Eric Young in the main event.

Before the break it’s Taryn Terrell looking fine after a year away.

When we return Willow and Abyss attack Bram and Magnus in the back.

Gail Kim is in the ring and she welcomes Taryn back and she talks about how Taryn earned her respect in their epic match at Slammiversary last year.

Taryn says that her and Gail actually tied at one match apiece. She thinks the fans would like to see the two of them have a match to see who the best Knockout really is.

Out comes The Beautiful People and Angelina takes issue with this whole situation and reminds Gail that Angelina won their match at Slammiversary. She then introduces herself to Taryn by kicking her in the mid section. Then Angelina and Velvet double team Gail until Taryn takes over on both of The Beautiful People.

Gail recovers and she and Taryn throw both Angelina and Velvet from the ring to a loud ovation.

Kurt Angle gets his meeting with MVP who has Lashley and King along with security with him. Angle tells MVP he doesn’t like what he’s been seeing going on. MVP shows his authority and tells Angle to leave his building.

King steps up and gets in Angle’s face Angle tells King to back up and when King shoves him Angle nails him with a hard right hand. Angle then looks at Lashley and says what are you going to do.

Jeremy Borash is in the back and says that in his 12 years there he has never seen anything like the back room. There is no one there. No wrestlers, no production people, no one. MVP interrupts and says there’s one person and has security remove JB.

Out first is Lashley with MVP and King and then it’s the champ making his way to the ring.

The Destroyer Bobby Lashley vs Eric Young.
EY starts off strong and nails Lashley with a flying cross body from the ropes to the floor. The champ is holding his own as we go to our final break of the night.

Not only is the pressure on Young to defend his title but referee Brian Hebner’s job is on the line as MVP threatened his job is he doesn’t count 1-2-3 on EY.

Tenay tells us that during the break, Lashley showed his amazing physicality and had started working on the back of the champion.

Lashley shows that power off with a powerful vertical suplex on the champ.

Out of nowhere EY hits a piledriver on the challenger but as Hebner is counting, King pulls Hebner out of the ring. EY then spikes Lashley with a DDT but Lashley kicks out at the last second.

Lashley nails EY with a spear and Hebner reluctantly counts 1-2-3 and we have a new World Heavyweight Champion.

Winner of the match and the new TNA World Heavyweight Champion: The Destroyer Bobby Lashley.

As MVP and his thugs try to break EY’s arm with a steel chair and no one in the back to be able to help EY – the suspended Bobby Roode climbs over the crowd barrier and saves the former champion from further harm.

To recap this night of live TNA action:

Winner of the opening match is TNA Heavyweight Champion Eric Young over Kenny King.

MVP fires Senior Referee Earl Hebner.

The Wolves vs Samoa Joe and Austin Aries vs The Mystery Team of Willow and Abyss with The Wolves keeping their titles.

Dixie Carter and Tommy Dreamer meet face to face in the ring. Dreamer delivers an awesome and passionate promo. He and Dixie hug and then she knees him below the belt.

In their 2nd title defense of the night The Wolves win over Bram and Magnus by DQ. Willow and Abyss make the save as Bram and Magnus attempted to do some serious damage to the champs.

Taryn Terrell is welcomed back by Gail Kim and The Beautiful People take exception to what’s going on in the ring. After a brief skirmish, Taryn and Gail throw The Beautiful People out of the ring.

Kurt Angle met with MVP and tells him he doesn’t like what’s been going on while he has been away. MVP orders Angle out of the building and when King butts in, Angle punches him in the face.

Bobby Lashley defeats Eric Young to become the new TNA World Heavyweight Champion after MVP has everyone (wrestlers, production, and staff) removed from the building.

When Lashley, King and MVP attempt to injure EY after the match, the suspended Bobby Roode comes through the crowd and makes the save.

Outstanding live show tonight. This is Ed Boston and it’s been my pleasure doing this live coverage for Wrestling Inc.com. I especially enjoyed the Tommy Dreamer promo.

WWE News: Why Vince Fired Head Writer, Second MITB Ladder Match Update, Tons More

0

Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

– WWE’s website points out that Triple H hasn’t revealed who else will be in the second Money In the Bank ladder match but intimated in his recent Michael Cole interview that the other participants will not necessarily need to qualify for a spot.

The Wrestling Observer reports that the match should be finalized on Monday’s RAW from Washington, DC. The match wasn’t announced on Monday’s RAW because they had the battle royal and apparently a lot of the battle royal participants are in the ladder match. Dean Ambrose is expected to be in the match as well.

– As noted, Vince McMahon recently cut RAW head writer Jay Gibson. This release was not believed to have been budgetary like the other releases. Even though WWE cut their head writer, it’s not as significant as it sounds and there likely won’t be a major change in TV direction.

The Wrestling Observer noted that Gibson had been with WWE for about 5 months and basically organized writers to work on different angles and different Superstars, as opposed to actually writing himself. It was said that Gibson had very little knowledge of the WWE product and that was made apparent when he was asked his opinion on some things.

– Regarding Aksana’s WWE departure, The Wrestling Observer reports that she had been a favorite of Kevin Dunn’s, but no longer was and didn’t have much support backstage. With more Divas being called up from NXT soon, most notably Charlotte and Sasha Banks, they made the decision to cut her. It’s said that Rosa Mendes was saved when Total Divas producers wanted her on the show.

– There had been some talk of splitting up Cameron and Naomi as part of an angle for the next season of Total Divas and then at this week’s tapings, WWE started to go more in that direction. Based on the way it’s been booked so far, it could be that Cameron is the one that goes heel if they do the split.

– Daniel Bryan will be filming an anti-smoking commercial in New York City soon. Casting information is available here. The description reads:
“This spot is very similar to the ‘cigarette-as-bully’ PSA that is currently running. We find ‘Dave’ being bullied by his cigarette by way of text message. He is attending a WWE match a super-fan of his idol Daniel Bryan. When Daniel gives a public shout-out to ‘Dave’ in the audience he is no where to be found. The camera finds ‘Dave’ alone in the parking lot bullied by his cigarette to go out and smoke missing what would have been the greatest moment of his life thus far.”

– Dusty Rhodes tweeted the following about Alex Riley after promo class at the WWE Performance Center last night:
“#WWE last night in class Alex Riley showed he has great skills , should b main roster break out star ! @NXT”

– Scott Hall managed his son Cody Hall at a June 7th Northeast Wrestling event in Ansonia, Connecticut. Apparently there were problems and The Halls aren’t welcome back. NEW promoter Mike O’Brien said the following:

“Scott Hall was his old self (he worked for the group a week ago). Not his physical condition, but a real cocky asshole. You give everyone a shot. Safe to say you won’t be seeing me book him or his dangerous, green son again.”
