Vickie Guerrero Writes Farewell Letter To WWE And Fans

0

Source: WWE

Vickie Guerrero has written a very lengthy farewell letter to her co-workers in WWE and the fans. You can read the entire letter on WWE’s website at this link but here is the first part of it:

“It has been an amazing 9-year career at WWE. I started at WWE as Eddie’s wife, and now I am leaving with my own identity. I loved performing in front of millions of people. Whether you hated or loved me, I appreciated every moment. I gained some amazing friendships that will always be kept in my heart. It is time to turn the page and start a new career in medical administration. I have so many other things to do in my life, and the most meaningful one is graduating from college in January. (Phil. 4:13 – “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”)

It is time to say “goodbye and thank you” to everyone from the WWE Universe, WWE Headquarters and everyone backstage.

My first “thank you” goes to my Lord Jesus Christ, for giving me a healthy mind and body to have been able to do the exciting things inside and out of the ring. He always kept me safe in my travels, and gave me the strength to improve myself emotionally and physically year after year.

To my beautiful daughters, Shaul and Sherilyn – Thank you for inspiring me to be better than yesterday. Your support was unconditional when I traveled. I still feel sad that I had to miss so many of your milestones. I love you girls with all of my heart.

Linda and Vince McMahon – I am grateful for the opportunities you gave me. Thank you for having my family feel accepted as a part of yours. I am thankful for the friendship we have built over the years. Vince, Eddie loved you like a dad! He had so much respect for you and it was always important to make you proud. Thank you for believing in me when I didn’t!

Stephanie – You are the true example of an independent, strong and successful woman. It has been an honor to work next to you. Thank you for being a part of my last night at WWE. I was honored! I wish happiness and love for Paul, you and the girls.

To all the agents – Thank you for all of your help, advice and guiding me to have my segments successful… Arn, Fit, Dean, Road Dogg, Scott, Joey, Mike, Kidman, Jamie and Johnny.”

It was previously reported that Cena was a favorite to win the title and WWE issued a survey asking fans who should Lesnar challenge for the title at SummerSlam.

Curt Hawkins Talks Working With Rock, His WWE Release, Zack Ryder Getting Buried

0

Brian Myers, f.k.a Curt Hawkins, was a guest on The LAW: Live Audio Wrestling this past Sunday discussing his recent release from the WWE along with a number of other topics. Below are some of the highlights from the chat, transcribed by Chris Maffei:

His WWE release:

“I was with the WWE for eight and a half years, and I saw so many guys get let go and just sit around and feel sorry for themselves, and I feel like nothing good comes of that. To me, wrestling is wrestling. It’s what I love to do. If I was able to do it that weekend, why wouldn’t I? I was thrilled at the idea that…you know, originally I would be sitting home as a WWE employee like I was doing, collecting a check but not really having any fun. So I was like, ‘Woo! Alright, sweet.’ Hit the ground running, you know?

“For one, it’s been like a weight has been lifted. It was just going nowhere, and I sensed that, and I’m thrilled to be back being my own boss and actively wrestling every weekend, which is really just what I want to do. That’s all I can ask for. I’m a desperate hopeless romantic for pro wrestling since I was five years old, I just love it. I’m happiest in the ring; I don’t care whose ring it is or who owns it, I just want to be in there performing and I’m happy. And I know I’m a sucker in that sense, because it’s a business, but that’s what makes me happy and that’s the truth. What really happened, in my opinion, is when I got hurt in late summer 2012 – I tore my PCL and meniscus, and that was the first time I had to actively stop. I had to have surgery. Ever since then, I never was put on a full road schedule again. It was almost a year and a half of just sitting home and they’d randomly call me for something. It was just bizarre, it never got going again. I think a lot of it was a cost-cutting thing to keep a lot of talent off the road because they weren’t going to be used.”

Locker room reaction to Zack Ryder’s push:

“The worst part of that whole thing is that it really kind of broke the spirit of the locker room. For years, we were told in all these pep talks that there’s a brass ring, you’ve gotta reach for it and it’s there for the taking if you work hard enough and get yourself over. And he did it; he defied the odds and actually does it, and all the boys are rooting for him, like ‘Oh wow, this is cool as sh*t. This has never been done before.’ He got over without the office, without TV time. It was pretty mind-blowing. And then they did just crush it and take it all away from him.

“To me, I felt the example that set for the rest of the boys was pretty brutal, because then it’s like it almost feels hopeless. It’s like, you’re not going to get pushed unless they pick you to get pushed, and that’s kind of it. I thought, above all, that message they sent to the boys was the worst part. They crushed the spirits of a lot of people, like ‘Okay, so my hard work here isn’t going to pay off, huh?'”

Working with The Rock for his comeback matches:

“That started for his comeback match, the Survivor Series match in 2011. I got a call from John Laurinaitis one afternoon, and that’s never a good thing, so I’m like ‘Oh sh*t, what could this be about?’ It was a conference call with me and Joe Hennig on the line, and he basically explained that Rock needs guy to train with to get ready for his matches, and he’s not gonna be at every TV and whatnot. We were basically like his punching bags for whatever he wants to do, whenever he wants to do it.

“It wound up being incredible. Basically, I could be at home at any point and someone from the office would call me and say, ‘Hey, Dwayne wants to train tomorrow in Miami, we’ll send you the information’ and WWE would basically set up a ring, they’d send a ring crew guy and a ref. They’d set up a ring in a warehouse near wherever he was filming. We did it in Miami, we did it in New Orleans. At the drop of a hat, my daily commute would be Miami and back in one day just to get a workout in with Dwayne. It was a blast. Honestly, he could not have been cooler. From jump street, he was the coolest guy.”

Bad News Barrett Talks Injury, Kofi Kingston Shares A Rock Story

– Kofi Kingston and others participated in the closing of the 2014 Special Olympics in New Jersey this past week. WWE’s Community website has an interview up with Games Chairman and CEO TJ Nelligan about their partnership and more at this link. He told a story about The Rock meeting one athlete:

At WrestleMania at the MetLife Stadium when we announced the partnership, an athlete named Ashley Weber was talking to me about three hours before the show saying, “I just want to meet The Rock.” And here comes The Rock walking toward her behind her back. I looked up and said, “You really want to meet The Rock?” He tapped her on the shoulder and she was in shock. She put her hand out to shake his hand, and he said, “Oh no, we don’t shake hands here. We hug.” And she wouldn’t let go.”

– WWE Intercontinental Champion Bad News Barrett tweeted the following early this morning after suffering a shoulder injury at the SmackDown tapings
“Thanks for the tweets. Shoulder is beat up, but it’s not the end of the world. Getting X-rays tomorrow, I’ll know more then. #BNB”

– John Cena tweeted the following about this Sunday’s WWE Money In the Bank:
“Good to c a lot of opinions about Sundays big event, good to c lots of critics back in the fold. Criticism is a sure sign you’re doin well.”

Former wrestling announcer Larry Nelson (real name: Larry Shipley) lost his battle with pancreatic cancer, passing away Monday night. Nelson announced for Verne Gagne’s AWA promotion throughout the 1980s.

He wrote an autobiography called “Stranglehold” – which you can still pick up on Amazon – that talks about his time in the wrestling business, and the ultimate demise of the AWA after many of their big stars left for the WWF. (Jimmy Jamz Note: It’s a pretty good read.)

CrazyMax.org extends its condolences to the friends and family of the Shipley family.

Mike Adamle On Possibly Returning to WWE, His Failed Debut

Source: WWE

WWE’s latest “Where Are They Now” feature catches up with former announcer and RAW General Manager Mike Adamle. Adamle commented on making his debut at Royal Rumble 2008:

“It was kind of petrifying, to tell you the truth. You would think that with a lot of the live experience that I had, it wouldn’t be that big of a deal, but that place was packed and I learned from the get-go that WWE fans were a different breed. They know more about their sport than football fans know about football and baseball fans know about baseball. They know everything.”

Adamle still works as a sports anchor for the NBC affiliate in Chicago and trains for triathlons. Adamle has done at least four Ironman triathlons. He talked about leaving WWE and if he would come back:

“It was pretty devastating to be let go. Mr. McMahon had brought me into his office and said, ‘We’re going to end this, today is your last show.’ I would come back in a heartbeat. It’s something I wanted to be a part of and wanted to be successful at. I still think about the people at WWE, because they were great. I miss a lot of them. I miss the atmosphere.”
