Tag Team Champions Eliminators vs. Gangstas vs. Bruise Brothers vs. Samoan Gangsta Party, ref Jim Molineaux
The Eliminators and Bruise Brothers are in the ring first and they don’t wait for the other two teams to come from the locker room. Saturn comes off the top with a head butt. The Samoans come down to the ring in handcuffs. They were apparently arrested earlier tonight? The Gangstas hit the ring with weapons and everyone is going at it now. Van Dam tries to suplex Sabu out of the ring but Sabu counters and puts Van Dam on the second rope and drops a leg. Sabu is about to go for a triple jump but Van Dam tries to springboard into the ring but slips and falls. Sabu goes for a somersault Arabian facebuster but doesn’t get the full somersault and lands awkwardly. So he just does a regular one off the top rope. The stretcher comes out but Van Dam gets off it. A stiff clothesline floors Van Dam followed by a triple jump moonsault. Sabu goes for a pin but we all know you can’t win that way in a stretcher match. Sabu puts Van Dam on the stretcher and springboard moonsaults him. Both men are put on stretchers but Sabu gets off his and hits a leg drop off the guardrail onto Van Dam on his stretcher. In the ring Sabu again throws a chair at Van Dam. Sabu with a superrana. Van Dam rolls out onto the table. Sabu goes for the triple jump DDT but Van Dam stops him on the ropes and fishermen busters him through the table!! I beat Joey to the “oh my god” because it looks awesome. Somehow Sabu is able to get up. Back in the ring Van Dam slams a chair down on Sabu. They both go for springboards and Van Dam lands a drop kick mid air. Sabu with a fishermens buster on the chair. He goes for the triple jump again but Van Dam picks up the chair and they all crash together. Spin kick by Van Dam and they both crash to the floor. They are carting Sabu to the back when Van Dam comes off the top rope with a somersault senton but Sabu moves and Van Dam lands on the stretcher ending the match in 23.08.

My thoughts on the show…
There was nothing on this show that I was personally all that into. The Spicolli versus Smith and the TV Title match were really the only matches I enjoyed more than the average match. Scorpio vs. Jericho was good and the main event had some cool spots for viewing pleasure. The Dr. Death match was a huge letdown though. Thumbs down for me overall.

WWE Prevents Released Superstar From Appearing On ROH PPV Event

0

Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

Recently released WWE Superstar was scheduled to appear at Ring of Honor’s pay-per-view in Nashville last week as his former name, Matt Sydal. Bourne was scheduled to come out for an interview before the ROH Title match and challenge the winner, saying he was coming for the title but the angle had to be scrapped because of WWE.

Most of the WWE talents that were released this month have 90 day non-compete clauses where they make their downside guarantees. They won’t be 100% free until around September 18th.

When Bourne got word of his WWE release, he contacted ROH booker Hunter Johnson and said he had been given the OK to work for ROH. Bourne was immediately booked by ROH. ROH officials then contacted WWE to get approval in writing and after a few days, WWE informed them that Bourne would not be allowed to appear for ROH until September.

Bourne was still backstage for the event and was just happy to be there. He was also giving advice to the younger talents after their matches as a way to justify the cost of his flight.

Chris Jericho Talks Vince Saving Him From Suspension, Cena Turning Heel, More

0

Source: The Independent

Chris Jericho was recently interviewed by The Independent in the U.K. Here are a few highlights:
Vince McMahon sticking up for him and why WWE won’t turn John Cena heel:

“I remember in Madison Square Garden there was a dad with his son in the elevator who asked for an autograph and as much as it pained me as I have a son, I just stared ahead, it’s all part of it and nowadays no one wants to do it. Vince loves it because it’s old school, he gets it, it’s heat. Vince had my back with anything I did, for example when I caused the crowd to pelt me with glow sticks in London [which you can watch above], DX was furious, Stephanie was furious, they wanted me fined and suspended but Vince goes ‘no you’re a heel’.

“I learnt in WCW that that NWO were cool heels, just by being up there they were so likable and cool, there was nothing I could do to get a reaction, and I might as well have been a heel. That’s why they don’t turn John Cena heel, all the people that booed him will end up loving him, it would be a waste of time.

The new breed WWE Superstars:

“I kind of am like the Nostradamus of WWE, I predicted that all of those guys will get over, with Cesaro we had a tour of Japan last year and I specifically asked to work with him and with Bray Wyatt when I went to work with NXT I said to put me with that guy.”

Jericho also talked about getting suspended after kicking the Brazilian flag, dropping his “Y2J” persona, playing at Download and more. You can check out the full interview by clicking here.

More On Scott Hall Last Weekend, Bobby Heenan’s Health Issues, More

0

– One of our readers sent in this report for last weekend’s wrestling fan fest in New England where Scott Hall arrived late and reportedly in rough shape:

“I was at that same show in Warwick, RI. Scott Hall, who was easily the most popular wrestler at the show, looked like a zombie. He barely moved his head and he had a glazed look in his eyes. He gave me the impression that he was heavily medicated. Sean Waltman did mention that as well, and referred to Hall’s hip bothering him. At the end of the show Hall was not walking under his own power and had to be assisted. Both Waltman and Hall stayed late to meet with fans. I did not see them as being rude as reported by others, maybe distant would be a better word.

“Bobby ‘The Brain’ Heenan was also there with his wife. He is an amazingly strong man. I went to shake his hand and tell him how much I appreciated him. He let me know that he had a broken right arm and a broken back. Even with those issues he seemed to move around pretty well and seemed in great spirits, along with his lovely wife. They were a pleasure and a inspiration to meet. I had a picture taken with him and he flipped me off while it was taken, which cracked a lot of us up. I hope he comes back to RI again.”

– Harley Race was interviewed by Under the Mat Radio in Baltimore, MD, which airs live every Tuesday from 6pm – 8pm ET on blogtalkradio.com. During the interview, which you can check out here, Race discussed holding the NWA Heavyweight Championship and his toughest title reign.

“Well at that point in time you were considered to be the top wrestler in the world. I was lucky enough to have that honor 8 different times. I wonder if I should’ve said I was lucky enough or good enough which one of those works the best,” Race said. “I suppose my toughest reign was the last time around I was getting up in years and the young guys coming against me. At different times in your life you pay the price for being there (the World Champion).”

Race was also asked about his toughest opponents:
“It was several of them, back then it’s almost impossible to give you a person. At that point in time wrestling was really starting to pick up worldwide. Way back, Lou Thesz was as tough as tough got. Then you had Dick the Bruiser and The Crusher.”
