Arn Anderson Talks Dolph Ziggler, Being A Horseman, His Career, More

0

Mike Mooneyham of The Post & Courier recently spoke with WWE Hall of Famer Arn Anderson to promote the upcoming NWA Legends Fanfest in Charlotte. Here are some highlights:

Being a Horseman:

“Being a Horseman isn’t something you put on in the morning and take off at night. It’s a state of mind. It’s excelling to the best of your ability. It’s four individuals thinking singularly, acting collectively.”

Learning from Tully Blanchard and JJ Dillon:

“I learned from them. Both of them, in their own way, were a lot better than I was. I was very fortunate and very lucky to have been in their presence. There was a time that – I don’t think, I know – we were the best in the world. And I have no problem saying that. It was each man carrying his own weight. J.J. was a smart man, a great talker, a great organizer. Tully was a great performer – as good as anybody out there – and a great partner. So it was a very special time, and it will be great to relive that at this event. It will be a celebration of just that.”

What might have been if he would have been able to continuing competing:

“I would think for sure I would have had at least five more years. Without the last neck injury, even running on fumes for the first two, I could have gotten by. But who knows? Maybe 10 more years. Thirty-seven is not that old. The crazy thing is that I had those terrible neck injuries, and I wasn’t one to come off the top (rope). I really feel for these guys today.”

Working with Dolph Ziggler, who he says has potential to be a top WWE money maker and is one of the best in the business:

“Dolph has got to be one of the toughest men to put on a pair of boots. But he’s going to be like Cactus Jack (Mick Foley) in another five years because that kid beats his body up more than anybody on the crew. I do know this. In my dealings with him, when I’m his producer, he gives everything he’s got. He does some really phenomenal, athletic stuff.”

The Rock On Sting In WWE, Wrestling Roman Reigns, WrestleMania 30, More

0

Chris Van Vliet from CBS-19 in Cleveland spoke with The Rock.

Does he think Sting will be in WWE?

“I do, yeah. And I know a guy or two so we’ll just put it like that. I do think he’s going to come back and I think it’s going to be great.”

If The Rock returns to WWE will it be for one match or a series of matches?

“It’s all of the above. The one match three or four years ago that I started talking about with Vince then turned into a three year run. So who knows? I would love to go back and figure it out. After last year’s WrestleMania the idea was I was going to set up a great match with myself and Brock Lesnar but then I got hurt so that plan got cancelled. He is now in plans to do something with ba da da da which I’m not going to say (laughs) but it should be a cool match. So whenever I do go back, if it is a match it’s just got to be right in terms of who is the marquee value player that really makes sense and at that time when I went back John Cena was the number one guy in the world so we have to see.”

Would a match against Roman Reigns make sense?

“I don’t know if that match makes sense now because he’s not their top heel right now, so you would look at that. Unless I went in as a heel and he was a babyface.”

How he kept his appearance at WrestleMania 30 a secret

“By me not posting anything (laughs). I came in literally hours before and it’s one of those things where it was a very last minute decision. It was an amazing night and there’s no greater feeling as a performer than that connection with an audience.”

John Cena Missing Raw Monday, Discussion Of New WWE Champion At Battleground

Source: PWInsider Elite

Up until a few days ago, WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena was still being advertised for this Monday’s post-Battleground RAW from Miami but he has been pulled from the listings. Cena will not be there as he has to be on the set of the Trainwreck movie that he is appearing in.

This could be seen as a sign that Cena will drop the title at Battleground on Sunday. While it has not been confirmed or even rumored that is the plan, there are a lot of people who feel it’s time to “pull the trigger” on Roman Reigns and give him the title on Sunday.

With Brock Lesnar scheduled to return on Monday’s RAW, it will be interesting to see how they use him with Cena gone.

Ric Flair Pulled From Smackdown, WWE Hall Of Famer Released From Contract

Ric Flair was originally scheduled to be at Tuesday’s WWE SmackDown tapings in Fayetteville, North Carolina but the show was re-written on Tuesday morning and he wasn’t brought in.

WWE’s original plans for Flair had him being used on TV every week but that may not be the case now. Flair has signed a new deal and will be popping up on TV semi-regularly going into SummerSlam, possibly beyond. We noted yesterday that it appeared on Monday’s RAW that creative has nothing solid for him yet.

– WWE Hall of Famer Ricky Steamboat has reportedly been let go from the company due to budget cuts. Steamboat had worked as a coach in NXT and apparently was working at the WWE offices in Talent Relations under Triple H recently.

Steamboat will be doing several conventions and non-WWE interview DVD’s in the coming months, which is usually a sign that you’re no longer under contract to the company. Steamboat was doing promotional work for WWE in Malaysia this past May.

Kurt Angle Talks CM Punk Leaving WWE, Negativity On Part Timers

Source: The Ross Report

Kurt Angle was the most recent guest on Jim Ross’ “Ross Report” podcast, and the two spoke about CM Punk, who is becoming one of the hottest topics in pro wrestling today.

The TNA star, who has been flirting with a WWE comeback as of late, respected Punk’s decision to walk away, and gave his opinion on why he thinks the Chicago-based wrestler left the business.

Jim Ross disagrees with the observers who feel like Punk owes the fans some sort of farewell, and Angle joined him in that regard.

“I didn’t know that he was that banged up,” Angle admitted. “I have to respect the fact that he walked away, whether he comes back or not. The rumor was that he was upset with the booking, and he’s upset with these part-timers coming in, and taking the main spots at WrestleMania.”

Angle wanted to contact Punk and tell him as a full-timer, that sort of stuff wasn’t going to happen forever. He said there was going to be a time where Punk would have wanted to go part-time, too. He also stated there would be many opportunities for Punk to headline WrestleMania as a part-time worker down the road.

Although, Angle said if the main reason behind Punk’s departure was because of his injuries piling up, the Olympic gold medalist said he couldn’t have respected him more for the decision.

It is rumored Punk left WWE when they decided to bring in Batista for WrestleMania 30, and the original plans where for “The Animal” to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Punk also had to cough up the title to The Rock — another part-timer — last year at WWE Royal Rumble 2013.

Batista Acting Review, Colt Cabana Talks WWE Release, Dolph Ziggler, More

– Dolph Ziggler noted on Twitter that he gave a shout-out to Zack Ryder by using the Rough Ryder move on SmackDown. Ryder revealed he’s been training at Curt Hawkins’ Create A Pro school in New York and tweeted the following:

“So @HEELZiggler just used the Rough Ryder on #SmackDown. I don’t think I’ve hit that move yet in 2014…besides at @CreateAPro.”

– Rick Nash of the Low Blows podcast recently spoke with Colt Cabana about wrestling podcast, other wrestlers getting their own shows and more. Cabana also commented on the day he got the call he was being cut from WWE:

“It was a bummer. I was having lunch with Trent Berreta & Tyson Kidd when I got the call. It was awkward for them I think when I told them. I definitely saw it coming as they weren’t really using me that well, but the reality of the situation was a total bummer.”

– There were several positive reviews coming out of a screening for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy movie last night in Los Angeles. One viewer tweeted the following about Batista’s role as Drax the Destroyer in the movie:

“Guardians of the Galaxy was awesome summer fun. Kudos to everyone. Big props to @DaveBautista, who killed it as Drax.”

– WWE NXT Diva Veronica Lane is still out of action with a leg injury. She has been recovering in Los Angeles and attended ESPN’s ESPY awards last week with her boyfriend.

Mayweather Apologizes To Rousey, Dana White Talks Diaz Taunting Cerrone, Gina Carano

– Turns out, boxing great Floyd Mayweather, Jr. does know who Ronda Rousey is after all. Recently, Mayweather responded to a question about the UFC female bantamweight champion by stating he didn’t know who “he” was. Well, turns out that was just Floyd being Floyd.

“I apologize because I didn’t know,” said Mayweather, in an interview with Fight Hub TV that you can watch above. “I’m used to watching football and basketball, like I’m not really into boxing like that. When they tell me, ‘Floyd, you need to check out a fighter, you need to scout a fighter,’ I’ll say, ‘Well, let me see him. We need to sign him.'”

Rousey joined Mayweather as ESPY winners recently, scoring the first award for the world of MMA when she was named “Best Female Athlete.” Mayweather beat Jon Jones and Rousey for “Best Fighter.”

– UFC president Dana White came to the defense of one of his fighters, while also going after another one at the same time. Nate Diaz, who remains on the sidelines wanting to negotiate a new contract, attacked Donald Cerrone. White wasn’t all about that, defending “Cowboy” during his “Download” interview.

“Nate can do whatever he wants to do. Nate can sit out and not suck any UFC whatever, for as long as he wants to. Who cares, he’s a grown man,” White said. “Sit out for as long as you want, sit out the rest of your career, it’s your decision. But to start making fun of guys who actually like to fight, and guys who go out there and put on unbelievable fights and people love to see him? (Cowboy) steps up and does what he does. People love Cowboy Cerrone.

“Nate wants to talk about making money, but there’s only one way to make money, and that’s fighting.”

Cerrone is coming off a second round finish of Jim Miller, which was his fourth straight win. Diaz last fought in 2013, defeating Gray Maynard.

– If things go as according to planned, Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano could be made for the end of 2013, says UFC president Dana White. Rousey, the reigning female bantamweight champion, is coming off a 16-second victory over Alexis Davis. Carano hasn’t competed since 2009, but made it known earlier this year that she wishes to step inside the Octagon.

White, during his scrum in Dublin, Ireland recently, said Carano “should be signed” in the coming days, adding that if Rousey desired the fight, they would do everything possible to make it happen.

R-Truth Signs With Talent Company, Eva Marie Is The New X-Pac?

0

We noted before that R-Truth and former WWE Diva Maria Kanellis have signed on with talent management company Advanced Management. The announcement confirmed that Truth is working on his hip-hop album with appearances from John Cena and Wiz Khalifa. Advanced’s Gary Reichman had the following to say:

“We couldn’t be more excited to work with both Ron and Maria. Their extraordinary personas coupled with their backgrounds in wrestling, make them unique individuals for casting. We anticipate much success with them both.”

– Eva Marie had a very rough night at the WWE NXT tapings from Full Sail University on Thursday night. She was given heat by the crowd from the moment she made her entrance and one fan commented that they “murdered her.” She made it worse by putting on a bad performance in her match against Bayley. One fan noted that they “despised her” and “first we had X-Pac Heat and now we have Eva Marie Heat.”
