Dana White Admits Mistake, UFC Fighter Under Fire For Animal ‘Fondling’

– UFC president Dana White has come out and admitted a mistake was made when he removed MMA judge Howard Hughes this past weekend during an event in China. The promotion recently released a statement in regards to the matter, and White echoed what was said officially during a media scrum in Mexico.

“It’s no secret how fired up I get when there’s bad judging, but I have o apologize to judge Hughes,” White said (thanks to MMAjunkie.com for the quotes). “I did get some misinformation. He didn’t score the second fight 30-27 for the fighter from China. Andy yeah, I got a little crazy, and I overstepped my bounds. It’s not the firs time, and hopefully that’s the last time I’ll ever do that. I was wrong.”

White has been very critical and outspoken when it comes to judges, officials and referees within MMA. Due to the event taking place in China, the UFC was the official athletic commission and hired the judges and officials.

– UFC middleweight contender and former Strikeforce champion Luke Rockhold has come under fire for what some have described as “fondling.” Rockhold posted a video of himself sitting next to a tiger on Instagram, and you can see it below.

Rockhold, who does not have a fight currently scheduled, added the caption “For those of u who think it was disrespectful I’m sorry. Was so minor just joking around, I was way too scared and would never do anything harmful to any animal.”

Jeff Jarrett is reportedly headed to scout potential buildings for TV tapings in New York, Dallas and Los Angeles in September.

People close to Jarrett and Global Force Wrestling say negotiations are still ongoing for a GFW TV deal but they are moving slow. The promotion hoped to have something locked in by now but they do not.

There should be more announcements coming soon in regards to Scott D’Amore’s involvement with GFW and the company’s relationship with New Japan Pro Wrestling.

The whole process of launching GFW is going a lot slower than officials wanted.

Hulk Hogan On If He Wanted WWE To Fold During Monday Night Wars, WCW Imploding, More

Source: For The Win

For The Win has an interview with Hulk Hogan, who was promoting the new Monday Night Wars series on the WWE Network. Here are a few highlights:

If he thought WCW would win the Monday Night Wars and WWE might disappear:

“I was praying to God that wouldn’t happen. I prayed to God that we would become the No. 1 wrestling show, and that WWE would thrive and stay the monster that they were. WCW might become a little bit [of a] bigger monster. I never wanted anybody to go away. I wanted two different companies so talent could have a choice where they could work and make big, big money.”

If there was a moment when he realized that WWE took control during the Monday Night Wars:

“No, I just know that internally [in the WCW] things just started to fall apart. People got overconfident. I wasn’t [always] there…. When I was there every Monday, I had a really good feel for the direction and what [then WCW executive vice president] Eric [Bischoff] was doing, what the writers were doing. We got to the point where, I wasn’t part-time but I was there like every other Monday, and when I’d come back from being away for a week it was almost like the lunatics were running the asylum. The whole thing changed. There was a bunch of chiefs, and there should have been just one chief. I kind of saw things starting to lose direction.”

If he could book a match between any two wrestlers, past and present, who it would be:

“I’d be wrestling one guy, one more time. It’d be Andre the Giant….. If you’re talking about present, the match everybody missed that we owe everybody is Stone Cold and Hogan. The match I would like to have would be against Cena. It depends on how you look at this thing, there’s a lot of interesting stuff that could happen.”

Hogan also discussed turning heel and joining the nWo, if he expected the fan reaction for his heel turn, how the nWo came together, if he preferred being Real American Hulk or Hollywood Hogan and more. You can read the full interview by clicking here.

Backstage News On TNA Moving To A New Network, Major Changes They Would Have To Make

Source: F4WOnline

As was reported yesterday, TNA has been offered a spot on Discovery’s VELOCITY network, which is available in only HD and less than 50 million homes.

F4WOnline noted that TNA moving to VELOCITY was described as a worst case scenario.

If they take the deal, TNA would have to cut so far back on production and talent that the TNA as we know it would be no more.

Batista Possibly Being Done With WWE And His Future As A Hollywood Star

Source: PWInsider Elite

There are several people within WWE who feel that as Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy sees more success, it becomes more likely that we won’t see Batista return to WWE as a full-time performer ever again.

When Batista left a few months ago, there was a belief that he would be back to continue his storyline once the media and appearances for Guardians was over but some are under the impression that it may not happen. Batista’s future with the company was a hot topic backstage at this weekend’s WWE live events.

There’s also the risk of Batista getting injured now that his film career will be taking off. It’s almost guaranteed that Batista will receive a lot more offers for movies because of his role in a blockbuster hit like Guardians. Batista is no longer seen as a guy who acts in indie movies and studios will be hesitant to cast him in movies if he’s performing in a wrestling ring.

Dean Ambrose And Roman Reigns To Team At Night Of Champions?

0

– We noted before that it’s possible Dean Ambrose makes an appearance at WWE Night of Champions on September 21st as filming for WWE Studios’ Lockdown ends on September 20th. It’s worth noting that the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville is advertising Ambrose and Roman Reigns together as a team. This could mean Ambrose and Reigns are facing Kane and Seth Rollins at the pay-per-view.
