0

Thanks to Justin (J-Lap), Nate Da Gr8 and Eddie for the following TNA Impact Wrestling spoilers from tonight’s tapings in New York City. These will air on September 4th:

* Tonight’s crowd isn’t as packed. They’re moving people up to the better seats to fill them in.

* Bobby Roode and Eric Young kick off the show with an in-ring promo about how the cage match ended last week.

* Taryn Terrell defeated Madison Rayne in what was said to be a bad match.

* War hero Chris Melendez comes out to a nice pop. He wins his debut match over DJ Zema Ion with a sideslam. Melendez looked green but that was expected. He got a nice pop and a “we the people” chant at one point.

* James Storm comes out and introduces Sanada, who has a new look. Storm calls him The Great Sanada, a shot at The Great Muta. Sanada vs. Austin Aries is next. Sanada wins with the mist to the face and a kick like Muta.

* Young vs. Roode in a #1 contender’s match will take place later. They had to clean the mist from Sanada off the ring.

* Bobby Lashley, Kenny King and MVP come to the ring. They talk trash about NYC. Samoa Joe interrupts to a big pop and they set up Joe vs. Lashley. Joe gets beat down until security breaks it up.

* The Menagerie defeated Robbie E and Jessie Godderz in an Xplosion match earlier.

* DJ Zema Ion vs. Manik vs. Tigre Uno vs. Homicide vs. Crazzy Steve vs. Low Ki in a #1 contender’s match is next. Homicide gets the win. After the match, Storm and Sanada come in. Sanada kicks Manik and they drag him off to the back.

* Ethan Carter III and Rockstar Spud come out. They cut a promo until Rhino interrupts and attacks Ethan, setting up a match for later.

* Roode vs. Young in a #1 contender’s match is next. This was a great exchange with the crowd into it. Lots of near finishes. Roode gets the win and they shake hands after the match. It’s possible TNA is taping out of order tonight between the two episodes.

– WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross and former UFC star Chael Sonnen will call the Battleground MMA pay-per-view together on October 3rd from the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. MMAFighting.com reports that negotiations to land Ross & Sonnen as the announcers for that event began a few months back. The main event of that show will feature Ryan Couture, the son of MMA Hall of Famer Randy Couture, against Jonny Carson.

Vince Russo penned an open letter to Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon and Triple H on his website, Pyro & Ballyhoo, regarding the recent storylines in the company. You can read the full letter by clicking here, here is part of what he wrote:

Look, I’m not going to tell you what to do, or how to do it, who am I? All I’m asking is that you all ask each other—is this the best that World Wrestling Entertainment has to offer its fans? If the answer is yes, that I guess I’ve just over-rated you, however, I think we all know that’s not the answer. I don’t think any of you can walk away from that building on Monday night honestly believing that you had just put your best foot forward. I don’t believe that for a second.

Right now, you have an UNBELIEVABLE talent roster, up and down from first match to main event, but the writing and producing of the show is just not serving them justice. You have to know that. What happened to the work ethic and the commitment that we all shared during the Attitude Era? What happened to that passion, when we literally used to leave our own BLOOD, SWEAT and TEARS on the script that we wrote. If something didn’t exceed our expectations we were sick over it for days—I know I was.

– The Dallas Cowboys have signed Michael Sam, the first openly gay NFL draftee. WWE has congratulated Sam and extended the invite for any future RAW. They wrote on WWE.com:

“Congratulations to Michael Sam on signing with the Dallas Cowboys! WWE will extend its invitation for Michael Sam to appear on any future Monday Night Raw he wishes. We offer our support for Michael as he continues his journey.”

– Regarding Brock Lesnar’s deal with WWE, they’re able to book him as WWE World Heavyweight Champion for RAW and pay-per-view events based on when they feel they want him on TV. In the past Lesnar’s dates and angles have been planned out months in advance. There is an agreement in place where WWE can increase Lesnar’s dates on a pro-rate basis.

– We noted before that former NFL player Shawne Merriman is no longer affiliated with WWE. He actually never signed a WWE contract and the story from within WWE now is that he was just making guest appearances for them around WrestleMania XXX time. At the time it was reported that WWE wanted Merriman to be announcer and he was going to b doing some in-ring training.

– William Regal was scheduled to be at the WWE TV tapings in California last week, and possibly stay to scout talent at PWG’s Battle of Los Angeles, but he reportedly had some health issues and couldn’t make the trip. Regal was doing better by late last week and has had an issue with his voice.

– Mick Foley will be undergoing surgery on his back tomorrow. He wrote the following on Facebook:

“It’s a relatively minor procedure that I hope will produce major results – as the pain these past two weeks has just been excruciating.”

More On The Major WrestleMania XXX Theft At The WM Superstore

Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

It was reported last week that WWE’s Vice President of Venue Merchandising & Operations Alan Rebhun was let go right after WrestleMania XXX due to major concessions problems in New Orleans where a large sum of money apparently went missing at the end of the weekend.
In an update and correction from last week, the vending company that Rebhun hired did not go bankrupt and while there was a shortage of money, some say it wasn’t a huge sum. Merchandise sales at WrestleMania XXX surpassed budget projections by $300,000 and was the second-highest in company history, just $100,000 less than WrestleMania 29. The WrestleMania XXX Superstore brought in $1.4 million in sales over four days and the shortage of money referred to last week was due to a theft at the Supertore.

The company contracted to handle WrestleMania XXX concessions has licenses for several NBA, NFL, NHL and MLB teams. Rebhun and several WWE employees observed the company working the NBA All-Star game at the Superdome in New Orleans before they were even hired. The company’s bid to handle WrestleMania concessions was approved and signed off on by WWE officials higher than Rebhun.

There was also a situation where a WWE accountant signed for a certain amount of cash and then claimed he was $5,000 short when preparing the deposit. A person close to the situation says the WWE road crew was upset that they weren’t given the deal to run the concessions.

Rebhun was actually told he was being let go as a financial decision, not because of misconduct.

The Rock Confirms Major DC Comics Movie Role

0

The Rock confirmed on his Twitter that he will be playing Black Adam, Shazam’s nemesis, in the upcoming DC Comics Shazam movie. The character is said to be more of an anti-hero than a villain. Here is a description of the character from the DC Comics database:

Black Adam is a super-villain and sometimes anti-hero originally written as the evil counterpart to Captain Marvel, an ancient Egyptian prince who was given incredible powers by the wizard Shazam and survived into the modern era. His legacy would eventually expand to include the Black Marvel Family involving his wife Isis and her brother Osiris protecting their native land of Kahndaq. He has been a member of the Justice Society, Injustice Society, Secret Society of Super-Villains, Suicide Squad and Monster Society of Evil. Black Adam was created by Otto Binder and C.C. Beck, first appearing in Marvel Family #1. (1945)

Variety reports that Darren Lemke will pen the script, with Hiram Garcia producing.

The Rock tweeted:

TNA Live Events Reportedly On Hold, More Departures Rumored, More

PWInsider and the Talk Is TNA podcast both report that there’s talk of more TNA office departures in the last week.

Talk Is TNA reports that TNA live events are on hiatus for the foreseeable future as the company is focusing on TV for now. Some of the releases in the last week were reportedly from the live event department.

After this weekend’s tapings in North Carolina & Virginia, TNA has tapings next week in Bethlehem, PA and then the Bound For Glory pay-per-view from Tokyo in October. After Bound For Glory, there are no TNA events scheduled until the UK tour in January 2015.

WWE Partnership With Social Media Site ‘Tout’ Finished?

0

It appears WWE’s relationship with the social media website Tout has ended. WWE has not used their main Tout page since July 12th and NXT has not used their page since May 25th. Several WWE talents have gone months without using the service and the last Superstar account was active in June.

WWE invested $5,000 with Tout back in July 2012 and entered into a two-year strategic partnership with the company. It looks like that partnership expired and they chose not to renew it. It was reported in 2012 that WWE CBO Stephanie McMahon would be on Tout’s Board of Directors.
