– The Paul Heyman documentary from his recent DVD is now on the WWE Network after being added & removed a few days ago.

– Regarding rumors of Shelton Benjamin possibly returning to WWE after a WWE filing for a trademark on the name surfaced, a Trademark search on the number reveals that WWE filed a notice of cancellation on November 14th. They no longer are claiming ownership of the name.

– While CM Punk is one of the characters in WWE’s upcoming Flintstones animated movie, he is not listed in the new synopsis that was released this week:

Get ready for some raw-kin’ action in this all-new, original movie that brings some of WWE’s toughest, wildest superstars to Bedrock! 0

Shelton Benjamin could be returning to WWE as the sports-entertainment organization recently applied to trademark “Shelton Benjamin” for the purpose of merchandise.

This is according to a page on 4-Traders.com, which notes that Lauren A. Dienes-Middlen, WWE’s Vice President of Intellectual Property, made the application. It is noted below the article that trademark applications were also filed for “AWA American Wrestling Association,” “Beyond The Ring,” “Crush Couture,” “Crush Wear,” “NXT,” “Skull King,” “The Miz” and “Total Divas.”

Benjamin, now 39-years-old, performed for WWE from 2002 through 2010; he was released from his contract on April 22, 2010 along with Jimmy Wang Yang, Kung Fu Naki, Slam Master J, Mickie James and Katie Lea Burchill. Following his departure from the company, he wrestled for Ring of Honor (ROH) for two years, and currently works for New Japan Pro Wrestling under the ring name Shelton X Benjamin. During his tenure with WWE, he won the Intercontinental Championship three times, the United States Championship once, and the WWE Tag Team Championship twice with Charlie Haas.

Last week, he responded to fan question on Twitter asking him why he left WWE and responded, “So you could watch a guy in a bunny suit instead.”

– WWE posted a storyline update on Dean Ambrose this morning, noting that he’s been cleared to wrestle after the attack from Bray Wyatt on SmackDown.

– WWE’s Shop website has released several new Ugly Christmas Sweaters.

– Jim Ross has a new column on FOXSports.com looking at CM Punk signing with UFC.

– PWInsider noted that CM Punk signing with UFC was a hot topic backstage at this weekend’s WWE live events. Many talents are aware that acknowledging Punk’s signing publicly will get them in trouble with WWE officials. There was a lot of talk on whether or not Punk will be successful in UFC and a lot of talk on how he’s gotten more attention in the last few weeks than anything else in wrestling.

– WWE had security remove a fan sign that said “Someone check my staph infection” at last Monday’s RAW in Tulsa, according to F4Wonline.com. This was a reference to CM Punk revealing on Colt Cabana’s podcast that he worked for months with a staph infection that was incorrectly diagnosed by WWE doctors.

– The Undertaker has been added to promotional material for WrestleMania 31, including one of WWE’s buses seen below at this weekend’s live event in Augusta, Georgia.

CM Punk Talks His UFC Debut, How Long He Expects To Fight, WWE’s Reaction, More

0

Courtesy of MMAFighting.com, below are highlights of Ariel Helwani’s second interview with CM Punk from after UFC 181 last night.

* Punk said it was surreal being with UFC. He said a lot of fighters who don’t have to be cool to him have been very friendly and welcoming.

* Punk talked again about staying away from the negativity on Twitter. He said he’s going to ride this high and give the business all he’s got.

* Regarding people talking about his 0-0 record, he said he has to start somewhere and is lucky to have a pretty enough face that he can start in UFC. Punk said he would have started somewhere else if the UFC bosses turned him down. He says it’s not about UFC or the money, but he does enjoy getting paid, it’s about the journey and getting to the first fight, showing people what’s inside him.

* Punk said pro wrestling is a very bi-polar business and it was wearing on him. He said he never felt like he was getting back the same that he put in and when the checks start going down, it’s time to move on.

* Punk knew when he first left WWE that he was getting into MMA. Helwani asked Punk if he regrets re-signing with WWE a few years ago instead of starting MMA. He said a small part of him wishes he would have done this sooner but you can’t look back on your life with regret.

* Punk talked about putting some weight on when he first left but he’s slimmed down and gotten back into shape. He feels like he’s 15 again because the UFC deal has given him new life. Punk feels like he has something to do now. Punk said he feels better than he looks right now, adding that he feels amazing. He said stuff that bugged him for a long time don’t anymore.

* Punk said his lawyer was a little bit more protective than he should have been when going over the UFC deal but because of where Punk just came from, WWE, he was just looking out for Punk. Punk said he was super lenient on some things and UFC was super relaxed on other things. He said it was an awesome negotiation process.

* Punk confirmed it’s a multi-fight deal and he’s planning on fighting more than once unless something horrible happens. He said for the foreseeable future, UFC is his home, ad he doesn’t see why he won’t be fighting into his 40’s. Punk is 36 now. Punk added that he feels magnificent right now.

* Punk talked about possibly siding with various camps and said he’s hoping to start with one as soon as possible. He mentioned that he can’t see himself walking to the Octagon without Rener Gracie.

* He says he’s been CM Punk for most of his life and is CM Punk still.

* He wants his debut to take place in Chicago but he doesn’t want that to affect any decision making. Punk knows when UFC is returning to Chicago but thinks it may be too soon.

* Punk isn’t sure about using Cult of Personality as his walk out song yet but might.

* He’s looking to train his ass off for 6 months and then re-evaluate, see where he feel and go from there.

* Helwani brought up how UFC President Dana White said he was skeptical of Punk in the UFC. Punk said he’s going to make everyone a believer, including Dana. Punk says when he’s done with this, he will have earned people’s respect and won’t settle for less. He says he won’t make a mockery of the sport.

* Punk said he’s ready for the criticism leading up to his debut and has been dealing with it his whole life.

* Helwani asked what Punk thinks WWE thinks about the deal with UFC. Punk said he doesn’t care. He thinks they know about it but will do their best to act like they don’t know “because remember, UFC is not competition.”

* He does expect his UFC debut will happen on pay-per-view.

* Punk says he knows he will do good in UFC. He says in many ways, he’s already won, he’s just got to get to the cage. He knows people will tune in to see him either win or get beat up. He said he was on “Cloud 9” all day and hasn’t been this nervous in a long time.

Update On Rey Mysterio’s WWE Future And His Negotiations With Vince McMahon

Source: F4WOnline

It’s been noted that WWE expects Rey Mysterio to be back on TV soon. Apparently Rey Mysterio and WWE have came to an agreement as Vince McMahon realizes that the company is short on top draws for the Hispanic market, leading him to “loosen up the purse strings” on some of Rey’s requests.
It looks like Rey will not be signing with AAA’s Lucha Underground and will be re-signing with WWE next May when the current deal expires.

There also may be a plan in place where Rey will be doing a lot of work outside of the ring for WWE.

While Rey does have his differences with Vince, he’s been with WWE a long time and has a lot of friends in the company. It likely comes down to economics as Rey probably won’t receive a better offer from any other company.

Former Wrestler Jimmy Del Ray Passes Away, Conflicting Reports Of Cause

It’s been reported that David Ferrier, best known for his appearances in the early 1990s in the World Wrestling Federation as one-half of the Heavenly Bodies as “Gigolo” Jimmy Del Ray, passed away Saturday night at the age of 52. There are conflicting reports on the nature of his death.
PWInsider.com broke news of Ferrier’s death this morning, reporting that he is believed to have died from a heart attack. F4WOnline.com, however, is reporting this afternoon that he died from injuries in an automobile accident.

According to Dave Meltzer, Ferrier was driving near the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa at about 6:10 p.m. on Saturday night when he went over a grass shoulder “for unknown reasons” and crashed into a lamp post. He was transported to Tampa General Hospital, where he died from injuries suffered in the accident.

Ferrier began his career in 1985 for Florida Championship Wrestling, where he adopted the name Jimmy Backlund. He mostly competed as preliminary wrestler during the territorial days and later on in the independents, as well as in Japan for Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling. He joined Smoky Mountain Wrestling in 1993, where he replaced Stan Lane as one-half of the Heavenly Bodies with Tom Prichard after Lane retired from the squared circle to become a commentator for the World Wrestling Federation. The Heavenly Bodies were managed by James E. Cornette, and won the SMW Tag Team Championship on three occasions. During this time with he was branded with the “Gigolo” moniker. While Del Ray was an agile and able wrestler, he had a slightly pudgy midsection that shook, or “jiggled” when he did a taunting dance.

Alongside Cornette, the Heavenly Bodies debuted in the World Wrestling Federation in the summer of 1993, and would challenge the Steiner Brothers for the World Tag Team Championship—they were defeated. At the 1993 Survivor Series in the Boston Garden, the Heavenly Bodies faced The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express for the SMW Tag Team Championship. It was the first time where a championship recognized by another organization was defended on the show.

The Heavenly Bodies were generally used as a heel tag team for early matches on cards, where they would often put over babyface tandems. The duo was split in August 1995 after Del Ray was released from his contract. It was rumored at the time that an incident with a fan at a hotel led to his dismissal.

Del Ray soon made a few appearances for Extreme Championship Wrestling alongside Prichard and wound up in World Championship Wrestling in October 1996 under the name Jimmy Graffiti, where he competed for two months as a singles wrestler. He made a few appearances on WCW Monday Nitro and participated in the three-ring, sixty-man “World War 3” battle royal before a knee injury forced him to retire the following year.

After retiring, he worked as an instructor for Steve Keirn’s Florida professional wrestling school and would occasionally appear at area independent shows to manage a new Heavenly Bodies tag team. By the early 2000s, he had moved on from the wrestling industry and was running a hardwood flooring company in Tampa, Florida.

WWE Comments On CM Punk Signing With UFC, WWE Wrestlers React To Punk’s Podcast

Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

Regarding CM Punk’s comments about Ryback on the first podcast with Colt Cabana, there was a feeling within WWE that the comments were unprofessional and cheap. It was said that nobody believed Ryback really kicked Punk as hard as he could or intentionally broke Punk’s ribs.

On a related note, it was said that almost nobody within WWE had any sympathy for Punk’s situation with his various injuries. The feeling was that every top guy on the WWE roster that works a full schedule has a litany of injuries.

Just one day after CM Punk rocked the wrestling and MMA worlds with his announcement he’d be signing with the UFC, his former employer commented on his new career move.

WWE ran a short article that only said “WWE wishes Phil Brooks (aka CM Punk) the best of luck in his newest endeavor.” The article also linked to information regarding the WWE Network. We noted earlier that last week CM Punk’s Facebook page was deleted by WWE.

This comes after Vince McMahon appeared on Stone Cold Steve Austin’s podcast last Monday night and said that he’d like to have a working relationship with Punk in the future. While Punk didn’t completely shut the door on his return at time during his interview with Colt Cabana, he said last night on the UFC 181 broadcast that his “professional wrestling days are over.”

CM Punk will join the likes of Brock Lesnar, Ken Shamrock, Ludvig Borga, Dan Severn, and Ron Waterman as talents who have performed in both the WWE and UFC. Former ECW Champion Bobby Lashley is also currently contracted to Viacom’s Bellator MMA brand.
