Champions
World: Sandman
TV: Shane Douglas
Tag Team: Gangstas

So I’m watching the remastered edition of this show. This is the first time I’m seeing a “remastered” version of the fan cams. Avoid them with all your power, they look like crap. Sound guy has trouble with his equipment for the first few minutes so the fans let him have it.

TV Champion “The Franchise” Shane Douglas (w/ Francine) vs. Mikey Whipwreck, ref John Finnegan
Mikey yells at the sound guy and flips him off. His music doesn’t work but Shane’s is fine. Fan’s are hyped for ECWs return tonight. Pitbull 2 tries to get into the ring before the match but a bunch of wrestlers are right with him holding him back. Shane attacks Mikey from behind to get things going. Mikey fires back and sends Shane to the floor after a couple dropkicks. Mikey with a baseball slide and plancha onto Shane. Mikey with the advantage in the ring. He beats on Shane and hits a DDT that nearly gets 3. Mikey with a few submissions but then he ducks his head on an irish whip allowing Shane to hit a swinging neckbreaker. Vertical suplex by Shane and then Francine chokes Mikey on the ropes. Mikey goes out after her. Shane tries to hit a baseball slide but his feet get caught on the rope. HAHA. They fight on the floor a bit. Shane sets up two chairs in the ring and power bombs Mikey through them! Mikey someone manages to kick out at 2. Mikey comes back and hits a DDT for 2. Mikey with a top rope dropkick and we nearly had a new champ. Crossbody for another close 2. Mikey goes for another crossbody but Shane spins him in the air into a tombstone. Full nelson locked in and Francine tells him to let it go right before Mikey’s hand drops the last time. She wants him to finish it with a belly to belly. Shane picks up a limp Mikey and hits it for the victory in 10.49. After the match he locks in the full nelson again. Shane gets on the mic but Pitbull 2 quickly hits the ring and chases him to the back. Not bad. A bunch of personnel come to the ring to check on Mikey as he sells the neck injury.

Taz (w/ Bill Alfonso) vs. Roadkill, ref John “Pee Wee” Moore
Roadkill makes his debut here tonight. No gimmick for him yet, just cut off jeans and a mesh tank. Taz beats on him, fans chant for Sabu. Taz wants to know “where the fuck is he?”. They go to the floor and Roadkill is sent into the guardrail. German suplex dumps Roadkill on his head. Tbone from Taz and a tazmission puts it away at 4.11. Taz dumps Roadkill out of the ring after the match. And welcome to the biz kid. Taz gets on the mic and trashes Sabu and the fans.

“Shah” Hack Meyers & Louie Spicoli vs. Bad Crew, ref Jim Molineaux
Bad Crew is back, oh joy. After over a month of not being around I was hoping they were gone. At least they didn’t bring back Damien Kane with them. Spicolli who has become one of the most over guys in ECW gets stuck in a tag match with 3 pieces of garbage. Louie starts off and clotheslines his opponent to the floor. All four men in the ring Bad Crew gets noggin knockered and thrown to the floor. Hack in now and Bad Crew takes over. At about the six minute mark Louie tags in and hits a spin buster and drop kick. All four men in the ring now. Spicolli hits the DVD on both guys and gets the pin in 7.04. Super basic match, to long and did nothing to showcase your new hot star.

Tag Team Champion New Jack vs. Axl Rotten, ref John Finnegan
Music guy plays the wrong track for New Jack. Someone corrects him. Surprisingly New Jack doesn’t stab him. First match for Axl since September 14th. Most interesting weapon of the match goes to: the construction worker’s helmet. New Jack throws a dropkick! It was awful looking, I was just shocked. 187 ends the fight in 6.49. Axl’s friend D-Von Dudley attacks Jack after the match. D-Von goes for a chair shot to the head and Jack bitches out and throws his hands way up. Big Dick Dudley comes down and attacks D-Von from behind! He finally gets his hands on him. Axl hits Dick with a chair a bunch. D-Von takes out Big Dicks knee. New Jack and Big Dick fight back. D-Von goes low on Big Dick and comes off the top but Dick catches him and choke slams him to the mat! I’m fairly certain this is the first time Dick has been able to choke slam D-Von.

Eliminators vs. Dudley Boys (w/ Sign Guy Dudley), ref John “Pee Wee” Moore
Eliminators have been getting more and more cheers lately. Saturn and Buh Buh Ray Dudley start off. Buh Buh uses his size to overpower Saturn and hit him with a samoan drop. Kronus comes in and they go for a double suplex but Buh Buh blocks and suplexes both of them. Spike dives off the top with a crossbody. Eliminators bail and Buh Buh throws Spike out of the ring onto them. All four men then brawl into the crowd. Buh Buh dives off the stage onto everyone in a cool spot. Spike and Saturn make it back into the ring after 7 minutes. Spike with a tilt a whirl head scissor. Saturn hits a superkick and then dives out of the ring onto Buh Buh. Kronus hits a spin kick on Spike. Kronus goes for a choke slam but Spike reverses it into a rana but Kronus back on top. This has turned back into a regular tag match now. Kronus with a rolling samoan drop and then Saturn comes in off the top with a splash. Spike ducks a clothesline hops on Saturn’s shoulders and hits a rana. Saturn back up quickly with a superkick and he tags Kronus. Kronus catches Spike has he goes for a cross body and hits a fall away slam. Kronus with the pump handle suplex. Kronus slows things down with a chin lock. Tag made to Saturn and they hit a suplex top rope crossbody combo. Kronus in now with a slingshot suplex and then he tags out. Eliminators have really slowed the pace down. Saturn goes for a super belly to back but Spike rolls over onto him. Both teams tag. Buh Buh comes in and hits a big corner splash on Kronus and a spin buster. Buh Buh tries to throw Spike into Saturn but Saturn drop kicks him out of the air. Buh Buh sets up a powerbomb on Saturn but Kronus clotheslines him. Buh Buh throws Spike into Saturn for a 2 count. Boss man slam by Buh Buh but the pin is broken up by Kronus. Saturn with the big elbow drop from the top onto Buh Buh and they finish off Spike with total elimination in 17.46.

Doug Furnas vs. “Dangerous” Devon Storm, ref Jim Molineaux
Some fan either spits on or throws something at Storm. Storm then gets the guy kicked out. Furnas hammers away on Storm right away. Storm ducks a clothesline and hits a standing springboard moonsault. Storm goes up top but misses a moonsault. Furnas with the German suplex that sends Storm all the way over to his stomach and gets the win in 1.27. The cop that threw the fan out walks over to Storm and whispers something to him. Storm responds by saying let him stay in jail. HAHA.

Pitbull #2 vs. Sammy The Silk (LA Smooth), ref Jim Molineaux
Sounds like Sammy is introduced as Sammy Slick tonight. Sammy hits a few clotheslines. Pitbull comes back with one of his own and then a running powerslam. Crowd has really died down for this and the last match. Sammy takes over again and beats down Pitbull in the corner. Smooth gets a few shots in behind the refs back. Sammy with a super belly to back. Pitbull no sells it. Sammy knocks him back down though. Pitbull comes back with a powerslam. Samu grabs the ref and Smooth comes in the ring and nails Pitbull from behind. Samu misses a corner charge and then stumbles back and knocks the ref down. Smoth now switches places with Sammy even though they look nothing a like. Smooth hits a top rope splash but it’s not sold again. Powerslam by Pitbull ends thins in 5.11. Shane Douglas comes out and offers 10 k for anyone in the back that can come take out Pitbull. Blue Meanie and Super Nova come out. Pitbull makes short work of them. JT Smith and Sal Bellomo are out. Pitbull turns to fight Smith and Smith backs down and says they will join forces to beat up Douglas. For some reason Pitbull falls for this but he kills Smith with an overhead belly to belly. Douglas decides to do it himself but then he stops and leaves.

Sabu vs. Too Cold Scorpio, ref John Finnegan
These two had a pretty good match last week let’s see if they can change it up enough to keep me interested. Back and forth until Sabu sends Scorpio to the floor and then planchas down onto him. Sabu with a triple jump into the crowd. He puts Scorp on an table but Scorpio catches him on the apron and powerbombs him back into the ring. Scorpio slams Sabu face first onto the chair in the ring and gets a 2 count. Cross body off the top but Sabu kicks out. Scorpio with a drop kick and then he throws Sabu to the floor. Scorpio working pretty slowly tonight. Not making it bad just not at their normal pace. Urinagi gets 2 and Scorpio again dumps Sabu to the floor and then they go into the crowd. Back in the ring Sabu with a triple jump leg drop gets 2. Scorpio puts Sabu on the apron near the table and charges. Sabu slingshots himself back in with a drop kick. An Arabian press gets 2. Scorpio fights back and goes for a slingshot leg drop from the apron but Sabu moves. Sabu goes for a springboard leg lariat but Scorpio catches him with a belly to back. Scorpio hits another urinagi then misses a top rope splash. Sabu comes back hits the triple jump moonsault but only gets 2. Scorpio goes for a spin kick but Sabu moves and he crotches himself on the rope. Sabu goes up top and leaps to Scorpio and hits him with a rana. Sabu puts Scorpio on the apron he charges but Scorpio jumps back into the ring with a drop kick attempt. Sabu slides under and onto the apron. Scorpio hits the rope Sabu now tries to jump back into the ring but Scorpio drop kicks him and he hits the table hard. Scorpio with a slingshot splash that sends them crashing through the table. Moonsault by Scorpio for 2. He goes up again but Sabu stops him Scorpio with a super front suplex and then he comes of with a spinning splash for 2. Again he goes up top and is stopped with a super rana. Sabu leaps off the 2nd buckle with a flying tornado DDT to get the win in 16.11. They shake hands but Scorpio nails him and beats on him all the way to the back.

Steel Cage Match: Tommy Dreamers (w/ Beulah) vs. “Primetime” Brian Lee (w/ Blue Meanie & Super Nova), refs John “Pee Wee” Moore & Jim Molineaux
Nova and Meanie jump Dreamer before he gets into the cage. Lee hops out of the ring to help and we get a bell. They go out into the parking lot and into the ladies room. Dreamer suplexes Lee onto a merch table and then splashes him on it. Lee comes back with a suplex on the floor. Four minutes since the bell rang and they finally get inside the cage. Meanie and Nova hand Lee a table over the cage. Dreamer throws the ref out of the way and DDTs Lee. Nova and Meanie come in go after Dreamer. Meanie goes up for a moonsault. Dreamer gets up and snap mares down Nova. Meanie goes for the moonsault and Nova moves. Dreamer hits a DDT on Nova. Lee with a chokeslam on Dreamer. Lee leans over Dreamer to pick him up and Dreamer small packages him for the win in 6.58. After the match Lee chokeslams Dreamer off the top rope through a table. They chase Beulah around the ring and into the cage. Lee and Nova are pulled away by police but Meanie goes into the ring. Beulah slaps and DDTs him. Stevie Richards and Nova go back to the ring to check on Meanie when “Enter Sandman” starts playing. Richards complains that he’s not ready for the match. But it’s to late for him.

Steel Cage Match: World Champion Sandman vs. Steve Richards, refs John Finnegan & Jim Molineaux
Richards on the mic before the match he says some stuff and tells Nova and Meanie to get Sandman. Sandman charges them and nails Meanie with the cane. Nova ducks and then Stevie hits a Stevie kick. Nova goes after Sandman with a chair but Sandman gets it and uses it on him. Stevie Stevie kicks the chair into Sandman’s face but only gets 2. Sandman fights back and starts slamming the back of Stevie’s head into the cage. Meanie attacks from behind. Stevie gets the cane and goes to town on Sandman. Rocker dropper and a meanie-sault only get 2. Nova comes off the top turnbuckle with a drop kick. Stevie goes to the top of the cage while Sandman fights off Meanie and Nova with the cane. Stevie comes off the top of the cage but Sandman crotches him with the cane hits a DDT and scores the pinfall in 4.02. Sandman celebrates his win to the end the show.

My thoughts on the show…
Nothing was bad here, but at the same time nothing was really worth seeing. Don’t waste the two and half hours on this show unless you just really like this era of ECW.

Hybrid Hell 2003-06-20 from War Memorial Auditorium in Fort Lauderdale, Fla

Champions
World: Satoshi Kojima
GTC: Simon Diamond & CW Anderson

MLW returns to the War Memorial for what looks to be a pretty good card.

Francine hits the ring to a loud pop. She says that she doesn’t care about the fans and all she cares about is herself and Michael Shane. Audio on this show is awful can’t hear a word Joey Styles is saying.

Michael Shane (w/ Francine) vs. Homicide
Shane with a waistlock but Homicide gets out. Headlock Shane gets sent off drop downs and leap frogs and it all ends in a few arm drags by Homicide. After a drop toehold Shane bails to the floor. Back in the ring Homicide takes over. Homicide works a fast pace and just beats on Shane. Homicide hits an over head belly to belly and Shane again goes to the floor. Homicide dives between the top and middle rope with a somersault plancha. Homicide then goes for a baseball slides but Shane side steps it and slams Homicide into the guardrail a few times. Shane throws him back in and hits a belly to back suplex. Back breaker and Shane leaves Homicide on his knee for a few seconds. Snap mare and Shane with a few elbows to the top of Homicides head. That gets a two count and then Shane likes on a chinlock. Homicide fights out and hits a snowplow. Homicide goes up top but Shane pushes the ref into the ropes. Homicide falls onto the turnbuckle and Shane with some help from Francine takes back over. Snap suplex for 2. Homicide no sells and release German suplex and hits a clothesline. Homicide manages to kick out. Shane goes for the cop killer but Homicide slips out and rolls up Shane for the victory in 13.54!

Los Maximos vs. The Samoan Island Tribe
Maximos hit the ring with chairs and the Tribe is directly behind them. Moonsault onto Samu gets 2. Maximos using their speed to control the match. The Samoans beat on each other on the floor then go after the Maximos. Mana backs up a Maximo for a side slam but then just flings him up and over his shoulder this looked awesome. Mana with a swinging rock bottom and double underhook flapjack. Mana just beating on Jose. Samu fights with Joel outside of the ring. Mana with a slam and senton. Joel comes in the ring and nails Mana with a chair three times. It does nothing but then he throws it at Mana and drop kicks it. They both cover Mana and get the pin in 4.25

Kenzo Suzuki vs. Norman Smiley (w/ GI Ho)
Smiley gets a big reaction from the crowd. GI Ho is from WEW. Kenzo drops him with a clothesline and shoulder tackle. Norman with a snap mare and then he wiggles. Kenzo with some nasty chops. Kenzo stomps Norman and even kicks at the ref. Kenzo sends Norman into a corner and he flies all the way over the ring to the floor. Norman grabs his knee. Kenzo goes out after him and beats on him some more. Back in the ring Norman tries to fight back but Kenzo hits a flying knee. Boston crab by Kenzo. Smiley gets out and begins a comeback he hits the big slam and then the big wiggle is done. Kenzo pushes Smiley back and kicks him in the face. Norman fights him off and sends him to the ropes. Kenzo hits a spear, belly to back and finishes things off with a shinning wizard in 8.01.

MLW Matchmaker Court Bauer is in the ring to present CW Anderson and Simon Diamond with the Global Crown Championships. Diamond thanks the fans for coming to witness the greatest tag team in the world today. As they are about to get their belts music hits and out comes Steve “Dr. Death” Williams. Williams gets the mic and says he has a new partner but Williams is attacked before he gets the name out. They hit a double super kick and then D-Lo Brown hits the ring and dumps them both to the floor.

Global Tag Team Crown Champions Extreme Horsemen vs. Steve “Dr. Death” Williams & D-Lo Brown
Brown leaps off the top rope and hits them both with a crossbody. Diamond gets thrown back in the ring and Williams comes off the top with a shoulder block. Diamond comes back with another super kick. Both men tag out and Brown with a clothesline and slam on CW. D-Lo with his leg drop for 2 and he tags out to Williams. CW gets clotheslined in the corner. When Williams goes for it again CW gets his boots up. Anderson works over the arm and they tag in and out a bit. D-Lo finally gets tagged in cleans house. Brown with a sky high for 2. Diamond breaks it up and now all four men come in. Williams now takes over and beats on everyone. D-Lo with a swinging rock bottom on Anderson. Diamond pulls Anderson out of the way of the frog splash. Anderson with a spinebuster onto Brown and he gets the pin for his team. There was never an opening bell but it was all around 7 minutes.

La Parka comes out with the Sinister Minister but then Parka takes off his mask and its Mikey Whipwreck. Wait this better not mean La Parka isn’t here for his match with Sabu. That might make me cry. And here comes Sabu. What The Fuck. I realize this happened over ten years ago but I would like to know who caused this to happen so I can slap their face.

Sabu vs. Mikey Whipwreck (w/ Sinister Minister)
Some mat wrestling to start. Sabu goes for a clothesline but Mikey grabs his arm and puts on an arm bar. Sabu gets to the ropes. Sabu ducks a clothesline but then gets hits with a drop kick. Back in the ring Mikey gets a 2 count then goes for a whippersnapper but Sabu pushes him off into the ropes and hits a Russian leg sweep on the chair. Sabu puts Mikey against the table in the corner again and jumps off a chair putting him through the table. Sabu with a triple jump leg drop and then he locks in the camel clutch and Mikey taps out in 11.30. Sinister Minister gets in Alfonso’s face Sabu grabs him when Jerry Lynn and “Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels attack Sabu. Sabu is left lying. Minister, Mikey, Daniels and Lynn seem to have formed an alliance.

CM Punk vs. Raven (w/ Simply Luscious)
Punk cuts his usual straight edge promo. Bell rings and we are under way. Raven throws Punk to the floor and goes after him but Punk gets right back into the ring. Punk backs Raven into the corner but Raven reverses the position and again throws Punk to the floor. Punk runs away from Raven and gets back into the ring. It happens a third time but Punk comes back out with a baseball slide to Raven. Punk’s advantage is short lived as Raven hits a couple of Russian leg sweeps into the guardrail. Raven sends Punk into the rail and then hits him with a chair. Raven goes for a piledriver on the floor but Punk blocks it. Raven instead hits a bulldog on the floor. Back in the ring and Raven is slide a chair but Punk drop kicks him before he gets to use it. Punk with a belly to back and slingshot somersault from the apron. Punk sends Raven into the corner after propping up the chair in it. Punk goes for a slingshot plancha but Raven hits him with a chair. Punk fights back and hits a leg sweep into the rail. Back in the ring Punk with a million dollar dream. Raven fights out and hits a superkick! Raven fights back with punches, clotheslines and a high knee. Raven with a corner clothesline bulldog combo for 2. Raven brings a chair into the ring and drop toe holds Punk on it for a near fall. Raven puts the chair in the corner and goes for Punk but gets hit low. Punk follows up with a shinning knee for 2. He does one more but uses a chair and almost gets 3! Raven reverses an irish whip and hits a DDT but Michael Shane shows up and pulls Raven out of the ring. Punk distracts the ref and Shane throws Raven into the ring post. Punk hits a DDT of his own in the ring and gets the pin in 12.44! After the match they beat on Raven more until Norman Smiley makes the save. Smiley challenges Shane and Punk to a tag team match. Shane is still standing in the aisle but Punk has left already. This is a strange pairing.

MLW Champion Satoshi Kojima vs. Mike Awesome
Awesome shoves Kojima. Kojima hits two shoulder blocks but they don’t move Awesome. Awesome hits one also with no impact. CHOP FIGHT! Shoulder block now sends Awesome to the floor. Kojima goes for a slingshot dive but hardly hits Awesome as he barely cleared the ropes. Awesome sends Kojima to the guardrail and charges but gets backdropped into the crowd. Kojima goes face first into the ring post and Awesome sends him back into the ring. Kojima fights Awesome who is on the apron and hits the ropes but Awesome comes back into the ring with a slingshot shoulder block for 2. Clothesline gets the champ down for 2. Awesome goes for a suplex but it’s reversed. Kojima beats on Awesome in the corner and then hip tosses him out of it. Kojima locks on a chinlock and then sends Awesome into the rope. Drop toe hold followed by the STF as Kojima tries to get Awesome to tap. Awesome able to reach the ropes. Awesome reverses an irish whip and boots Kojima in the face. Awesome grabs a chair but Kojima cuts him off. Kojima goes for a clothesline but Awesome takes out his legs and hits him in the back three times. Awesome sends Kojima into the corner and charges with the chair to the face. He tries it another time but Kojima gets his foot up and the chair goes back into Awesome’s face. Kojima now uses the chair on Awesome. Kojima puts Awesome in the corner and chops the hell out of him. Corner whip followed in by an elbow and then a top rope elbow for 2. Awesome gets up and fights back and they have another chop fight. Awesome with a clothesline that does nothing so he goes for it again but Kojima ducks and hits a release german. Kojima ties up Awesome’s arms and then hits a neckbreaker for 2. Awesome hits a clothesline and sitout awesomebomb but only gets 2. Awesome goes up top and hits the big splash for another near fall. Awesome climbs back up but Kojima cuts him off and hits a superplex that gets 2. Shinning wizard gets 2. Kojima charges Awesome but gets stun gunned then Awesome hits a running awesome bomb but Kojima some how kicks out. Awesome gets a table from under the ring and sets it up inside. He goes for an awesomebomb but Kojima’s feet hit the ref. Kojima hits a cutter and lariat but the ref is still down! Kojima has the win but no one is there to count. Awesome ducks a clothesline and hits a spear. Awesome bomb through the table and we have a new champion at 13.48.

Awesome gets a nice reaction from the crowd and an “Awesome” chant. While Awesome is still in the ring the Extreme Horsemen’s music hits and out comes Steve Corino. Corino has a mic and gets in the ring. Corino congratulates Awesome for his championship win. Corino says he is the number one contender because he defeated Vampiro, Sandman, Dusty Rhodes and Terry Funk. Corino says he was promised a title match at any time. Corino says he wants the match now and cheap shots Awesome. Oh seriously fuck this.

MLW Champion Mike Awesome vs. “King of Old School” Steve Corino
Corino dumps Awesome to the floor and slams him into the rail. Corino nails Awesome with a chair. Awesome reverses a whip and Corino goes flying over the rail into the crowd. Awesome nails Corino with the chair and throws him back in the ring. Awesome comes off the top with the chair to the head and gets 2. Corino gets sent into the corner and Awesome follows with a charge. A second corner charge misses and Corino back in control. Not for long though as Awesome ducks a clothesline and hits a release german. Awesome brings a table into the ring and leans it in the corner. Clothesline takes down Corino. Awesome cause for the bomb through the table but Corino slides out and swings at Awesome. Awesome ducks that and goes for a german through the table but Corino goes low. Awesome ducks a superkick hits a clothesline and awesome bomb through the table! Instead of going for the pin though he goes for another bomb. CW Anderson and Simon Diamond hit the ring. Awesome fights them off but Corino hits two superkicks and gets the win and the title in 4.52. That fucking sucked. “Bullshit” chant from the crowd, I would join in but yelling at the TV over something that happened eleven years ago is weird. The Extreme Horsemen celebrate in the ring. That shit just made me really mad. Corino was no where near the title picture until he came out and said he was the number one contender then he just goes and takes the title.

No Rope Barbed Wire Match: Champion “King of Old School” Steve Corino vs. Terry Funk
Funk goes to whip Corino into the barbed wire but he puts on the breaks. Funk with a neck breaker and again whips Corino in but he slides under the wire. I’m really just waiting for the rest of the Extreme Horsemen to hit the ring and end this. Corino throws a chair into the ring at Funk. Funk takes it and throws it back. Corino slides in the ring and hits Funk with a chair a few times. Corino shoves Funk’s face into the wire and he’s bleeding. Corino pushes Funk back first into the wire and taunts the crowd but Funk goes low. Funk is stuck in the wire so Corino is able to stay in control. Corino ties up Funk’s arm in the wire. Funk gets free and fights back as we pass the 8 minute mark. Corino’s forehead gets cut open on the wire. Funk whips Corino into the wire. Ten or so headbutts by Funk. My god this is boring, fans have been going crazy though. Funk pushes Corino into the wire a few times. Funk uses the chair four times. Funk decides to punch and piledriver the ref. CW Anderson comes out and cuts away the wire from one side of the ring. Funk hits a DDT on Corino and then goes after Anderson and wraps the wire around his neck! Simon Diamond hits the ring with a barbed wire bat. Funk takes him out and gets a chair but Corino has the bat. Funk ducks and hits Corino with the chair and nails him with the bat. Two stunners by Funk end it at 15.43. Funk gets jumped after, Dr. Death quickly makes the save but gets double super kicked by the tag champs. The Horsemen pose in the ring but then “Enter Sandman” begins to play. Sandman takes his sweet ass time coming through the crowd even stopping to drink a beer while Funk and Williams get beat on in the ring. Seriously he’s having another beer! Now he shares some, hopefully he IDed everyone. Sandman finally hits the ring and hits a DDT on Corino. Horsemen quickly bail, Corino gets on the mic and talks trash about the men in the ring being old, Corino says the feud is not over. Funk says something and Sandman gets him to chug a beer and that’s that.

My thoughts on the show…
No London versus Lynn rematch that was advertised. No Sabu/La Parka 3. Awesome looks good winning the title and they immediately take it from him to give to Corino who goes on to have a bloody but shitty match with Funk. The ending with Sandman was terrible. Every show that MLW has put on is filled with no shows. Shane Douglas, Bam Bam Bigelow, Vampiro, and the list goes on. The matches overall were pretty good, making this show one to watch, but the constant on the fly changes are starting to bother me. As a big fan of Mike Awesome, him not walking out with the title was a huge let down. The crowd wanted him as champion too. I question why the fuck the Corino/Funk feud needs the title in it. Again, good show match wise but if you have been following along on TV and were excited for this show you will be let down.

* Nikki tells Brie she wishes she died in the womb… Ouch
* Paul Heyman raps and disses John Cena
* The Rock trashes Rusev and Lana

The Winner is…. Rock dissing Rusev… The Rock isn’t here (shocker), so Rusev & Lana are out to accept the award… Crowd is LOUD and HOT… Hopefully it stays that way for the main show… Lana speaks… Nothing special, crowd boos the crap out of them…

– Booker T joins Byron and A-Ry in the hosting panel. Vote for Diva of the year… You’re only allowed to vote for one of four… Nikki, Brie, AJ, or Paige… So if you’re into Naomi, or Alicia Fox, or Summer Rae… You’re shit out of luck.

– Apparently there were WWE.com Slammy Awards earlier today… Animal of the year – The Bunny (Not Batista?), Best Actor The Rock, Fan Participation chant “You Sold Out” to Seth Rollins, and Turn of the year is Rollins turning on the Shield.

– TAG TEAM OF THE YEAR AWARD… F’n seriously? Tag Teams are so important they’re given an award on the PRESHOW????? Can you imagine the Hart Foundation, Road Warriors, or British Bulldogs getting a preshow award? Renee Young hosts the segment… The nominees are…
* Goldust & Stardust
* Los Matadores…. Really?
* The Usos
* Slater Gator… Ummm, wow they’re stretching.
* Miz & Damien Sandow

The winners are…. THE USOS…. Awww, I was pulling for Sandow… Usos are out to accept. They’re pumped to have Slammy Awards… Woooo. Owen Hart style!

We get to vote on match of the year, but they don’t give us much to choose from… Blah.

– BREAKOUT STAR OF THE YEAR
* Seth Rollins
* Rusev
* Dean Ambrose
* Paige
* Roman Reigns

The winner is… DEAN AMBROSE…. Unfortunately Dean is not here to accept due to the injury from Bray Wyatt… Crowd craps on it… He’s cleared to compete Sunday, but not to come out and accept an award… What a worthwhile segment this was…

Per WWE.com… Best Rivalry is Bryan vs. Authority, Best Raw Guest Host Hugh Jackman, Best Couple is Bryan and Brie…

#HASHTAG OF THE YEAR AWARS
* #OccupyRaw (Bryan taking Raw hostage)
* #NineNinetyNine (Need I say more)
* #MoscowMooseKnucle (Rock to Rusev)
* #RKOouttanowhere (Randy Orton RKO vines)

The winner is… The RKO vines… Well, they were funny… Orton isn’t here, but Seth Rollins accepts. Rollins says RKO is NOWHERE since he took him out. Rollins accepts the Slammy “in memory” of Randy Orton.

That ends the preshow with 2 minutes to spare…. How eventful that was…

Special “Slammy Awards” Edition of WWE Raw 12/8/14 from Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina

– Michael Cole says we’re kicking off the Slammys… Apparently the other Awards didn’t count… Lilian introduces Jerry Lawler… Who then in turn introduces Seth Green, the host of tonight’s Raw… Seth does a little jibber jabber, and he’s interrupted by The Miz & Damien Sandow in matching suits… Miz tries to talk, but the fans chant Mizdow… Seth puts over Sandow… Miz gets jealous, but they introduces the…

“THIS IS AWESOME” MOMENT OF THE YEAR AWARD
* Daniel Bryan with Occupy Raw (again?)
* Stephanie McMahon gets Arrested (again?)
* Sting Debuts And Costs The Authority Their Job
* Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold, and The Rock At WrestleMania

The winner will be revealed after the first match…

1. Dolph Ziggler vs. Seth Rollins (w/Noble & Mercury)

Match gets started for a minute before we’re sent into the first commercial.

Back from break, Rollins has Ziggler on the mat. Rollins with some swanky kicks and a chinlock, Dolph breaks it with a jawbreaker… Rollins misses a corner splash, but Ziggler connects with one and a neckbreaker for 2… Rollins comes back for the Powerbomb in the corner, but Dolph counters with a sunset flip for a near fall… Ziggler hits the jumping DDT for another near fall… Rollins rolls to the apron and nails Dolph with a kick to the face… Rollins goes to the top rope, Dolph meets him up there… Ziggler ends up backdropping Rollins off the top rope!!!!! While Noble distracts the ref, Mercury shoves Ziggler off the top rope, Seth connects with the Curb Stomp, and it’s over that fast, 7:24 (half of which was a commercial break). Wow….

The Winner of the This Is Awesome Moment Award is STING!!!! But STING’S NOT HERE!!!! What a way to start the awards!!! Seth Rollins interrupts yet another award… He’s pissed that Sting cost him his match at Survivor Series and put the Authority out of power. Rollins accepts another award he didn’t win… Didn’t we just see this entire bit in the Orton Award????

– Kofi Kingston and the rest of the New Day make their way out… Their song no longer have the words “New Day” in it, so that ruins it…

–Commercial Break–

2. Kofi Kingston (w/Big E & Xavier) vs. Stardust (w/Goldust)

Kofi misses a double jump reverse body block, and Stardust connects with a springboard bionic elbow for 2… Crowd wasn’t really all that into New Day when they came out, but Big E has the crowd chanting for them. Stardust has control, Kofi takes back over with some fancy legwork of all sorts… The Boom Drop is now the “New Day”… LAME. High cross body from Kingston and it… gets the win in 3:00???? A high cross body??? I’ll take it.

– John Laurinitis returns to present the next award… John is sporting a bright yellow bowtie. With the Authority gone, Laurinitis says he should return to power…. PEOPLE POWER.

SURPRISE RETURN OF THE YEAR
* Hulk Hogan (I’m thinking they don’t understand the definition of “surprise”)
* Batista (Didn’t they build this up for weeks?)
* The Rock (Confronts Rusev… Now THIS was a surprise!!!)
* The Ullllllltimate Warrior

Find out the winner when we return.

–Commercial Break–

– And the winner of SURPRISE RETURN OF THE YEAR is…..

THE ULLLLLLLLLTIMATE WARRIOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thankfully, Seth Rollins doesn’t accept this award… Nobody does… We just see a few picture stills and head to a backstage segment…

– Seth Rollins is thanking his security backstage when he’s interrupted by Paul Heyman… Heyman talks about being here to accept an award on behalf of Brock Lesnar. Then he and Rollins go at it verbally about Rollins cashing in Money in the Bank on Brock. Heyman gives Seth credit, he admits Rollins is the future, but says Seth needs to make sure John Cena becomes the past at TLC.

– Ric Flair’s daughter, NXT Women’s Champion Charlotte, is headed to the ring for action… Well we are in Flair country… Wooooo! We get a video of Charlotte from NXT. Charlotte meets Natalya, next.

–Commercial Break–

3. NXT Women’s Champion Charlotte vs. Natalya (w/Tyson Kidd)

Non-title. Charlotte Woo’s. NXT has another Takeover special coming this Thursday night on the Network. Charlotte beats the crap out of Nattie and hits something resembling a backpack Stunner. Natalya and Charlotte counter a couple of holds. Charlotte chops the shit out of Nattie. A quick back and forth, Nattie tries a Sharpshooter, Charlotte counters it and goes for the Figure Four… Natalya counters with an inside cradle for the win in 2:30. Really wasn’t bad for the time they had. Which is better than most WWE Divas matches.

Santino Marella is out next to present…

OMG! SHOCKING MOMENT OF THE YEAR AWARD. I’m starting to wonder if they just reword the same award over and over.
* Seth Rollins sells out (see what I mean)
* Nikki turns on Brie
* Bray Wyatt with Children “Whole World In His Hands”
* Brock Lesnar Conquers the Streak!

–Commercial Break–

– Shocking Moment of the Year Award… And the winner is… Brock beats Taker. Paul Heyman is here to accept the award. Okay, so we’re three awards in and nobody has accepted their own award… Hmm a Paul Heyman promo at the top of the hour… It’s like they expected Brock to win. 😉 It’s actually a very short promo, Heyman just reminds us that he’s the one, behind the 1, in 21-1.

– Bray Wyatt is out for a promo in the ring. Dean Ambrose destroyed Sister Abigail’s chair, he destroyed a piece of Bray. So Wyatt took something from Dean when he attacked Ambrose on Smackdown and had him stretchered out of the arena. Wyatt is a monster, he is fear incarnate, he hates the fans… He calls the fans moths and says he will burn them… Wasn’t he recruiting the fans prior to this? Wyatt says he will stand at the top of the ladder as the winner of their TLC match. Bray says Dean deserves everything he has coming to him.

At this point with the lights out an Ambulance backs into the arena and Ambrose pops out of the back with bright spotlights on him… Pretty sweet sight… Ambrose’s music hits and the crowd picks up…. Dean yanks tables, ladder, and chairs out of the back of the ambulance…. Dean removes the neck brace he’s wearing and starts to walk towards the ring with his weapons of choice. Ambrose nails Wyatt with a ladder. Wyatt goes down, Dean throws a chair in the ring and it bounces off the back of Bray’s skull. OUCH!!! Dean sets a table up in the ring, but Wyatt retreats…

Dean lays on the table to taunt Bray to return… Wyatt gets up on the apron, but Ambrose nails him with a steel chair…. Ambrose says at TLC it’s Bray that will be leaving in an ambulance. Ambrose says in a TLC match HE is the monster and he will eat Bray alive… Wyatt looks weak again, good segment, bad booking finish makes the heel look too weak.

– Seth Green is back out. He introduces Jerry Lawler as the presenter of the next award… Which is of course…

DIVA OF THE YEAR AWARD
* Nikki Bella
* Brie Bella
* AJ Lee
* Paige

The winner after the break…

–Commercial Break–

– The Divas are in the back… And Titus O’Neil, I guess for comedy purposes… AJ Lee wins the award. AJ says she hopes next year’s Diva of the Year is someone from NXT who steps up. But for now, AJ says she’s not done being Queen of the Ring, and she will recapture the Divas title this Sunday at TLC.

– Renee Young is backstage with John Cena. He has a match with Big Show tonight. Yawn. Literally. Cena says he knows Show will do anything to keep him out of TLC. Then at TLC, Cena has a Tables Match against Rollins. Cena says Seth can’t pin him or make him submit, but there’s always a possibility Cena goes through a table. Cena says if he loses at TLC he has to rethink his career, because champions win big matches. Cena says he’s going to step up at TLC and put Rollins ass through a table.

– Erick Rowan on his way to the ring. He has Luke Harper next.

–Commercial Break–

4. IC Champion Luke Harper vs. Erick Rowan

They’re going to throw this away on TV??? What is this, WCW??? The two hosses go right at each other with some heavy hitting. Rowan nails a corner splash, Harper comes back with a dropkick. Rowan comes back with a Full Nelson Slam, and the two men fight to the floor… Harper grabs the ladder and cracks it over Rowan’s head for the crap DQ 2:00 into the match.

Harper attacks Rowan after the match, but Rowan drills him with a forearm. Rowan uses the steel steps to land a GTS on Harper’s face. Rowan tosses the stairs into the ring, and luckily they don’t land on Harper… Rowan bounces the stairs off of Harper’s skull to end the segment…

BIG RED, BIG RED, BIG RED BY GAWD!!!

So much stuff happened here within 5 minutes, it felt like the Attitude Era “Crash TV”.

– Naomi is checking herself out in a mirror when the Usos stop by. Jimmy Uso is happy to have married Naomi, and winning a Slammy. Naomi says she heard from the Miz’s agent. Naomi says she got a screen test in Hollywood later this week. Jimmy Uso says he’s going with her, he doesn’t trust Miz. Naomi questions of Uso trusts her.

– Adam Rose, the Bunny, and the Rosebuds are out to present the….

LOL AWARD

* Mother’s Day Message From Mr. T
* WEE-L-C Match
* Damien Mizdow, Stunt Double
* Vicki Guerrero throws Stephanie into pudding

Results, live, next.

–Commercial Break–

– Damien Mizdow gets the win in the LOL AWARD category… Sandow and Miz are out together to accept the award. The Miz takes the award. Sandow mimics the Miz’s acceptance speech, lol… “We Want Mizdow” chants. Miz wants to thank someone that doesn’t get the credit they deserve… He thanks his face, the moneymaker…

– Rusev & Lana in the ring for a promo. A Real LOL moment is the American President, and our economy. Well, I can’t argue there… JACK SWAGGER interrupts the promo… Swagger says Rusev broke Zeb’s leg, so Jack is going to snap Rusev’s ankle…

Swagger attacks… We have a brawl on the floor… Swagger goes after the ankle of Rusev and takes him down… ANKLE LOCK by Swagger and Rusev is screaming in pain… The officials have to pill Swaggs off Rusev… Rusev sells this attack good… “WE THE PEOPLE”.

A quick, but good segment, once you get past the fact that Mr. No Charisma Swagger is involved.

–Commercial Break–

5.Ryback & The Usos vs. Kane, The Miz & Damien Sandow

Seth Green has joined commentary. Ryback and Kane start it out, Ryback with the Thesz Press to get things going… The faces with some quick tags as they work over Kane. Kane lays in a chop to Jay Uso, and the heels take over with Miz tagging in. Sandow immediately starts his imitations. The Usos take back over on Miz, Sandow comes in, chops himself, suplexes himself, then throws himself out of the ring… Great stuff, fans eat it up…. We go to commercial…

Back from break, Kane and the champs have control of Uso. The fans boo Miz and cheer Sandow. Jimmy Sandow escapes Miz and tags in RYBACK…. Ryback runs over Miz, but Kane makes the save. Kane tries a double chokeslam on the Usos but eats a Double Superkick to the floor. Jey Uso dives out onto Kane. Miz dumps Jimmy Uso to the floor, but turns around into a meat hook clothesline, and SHELL SHOCK ends it in 10:00 even…

Seth Green enters the ring to congratulate Ryback. The Usos reenter to celebrate as well.

– We go back to the 1986 Slammy Awards on MTV. Amazing seeing this in HD… We see highlights from the event. Piper’s trophy falls apart, lol, that never gets old….

– Rick “The Dragon” Steamboat is out to present the next award….

MATCH OF THE YEAR AWARD
* The Shield vs. Evolution
* Survivor Series: Team Cena vs. Team Authority
* John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt – Last Man Standing
* Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton vs. Batista – WrestleMania XXX

The winner announced in the next segment…

AJ Lee on her way to the ring for action next.

–Commercial Break–

– Next week is WWE Week on USA… Monday Night Raw, Smackdown Live on Tuesday, and Tribute to the Troops on Wednesday…

– Ricky Steamboat announces the 2014 Match of the year is…. Team Cena vs. The Authority… Dolph Ziggler out to accept the award… Ziggler thanks the fans, for a most memorable match.

6. AJ Lee vs. Summer Rae

Summer gets no intro. AJ attacks, but Rae lands an inverted powerbomb for 2… Spin kick to AJ’s face also gets 2… Summer applies a cobra clutch, sorta… “CM Punk” chants as this match becomes one big rest hold. AJ escapes and does the spin into the black widow for the tap out in 2:15.

They really need to start finding other ways to go into that Black Widow besides a counter from a side slam.

– ROB VAN DAM IS HERE!!! RVD is here, IN A TUX, to present the…

EXTREME MOMENT OF THE YEAR
* Rollins Curb Stomps Ambrose through cinder blocks
* Brock Lesnar murders John Cena at Summer Slam
* Kane Tombstones Daniel Bryan 87 times all over ringside
* Chris Jericho dives off the top of a cage into Bray Wyatt

–Commercial Break–

– Most Extreme Moment winner is Chris Jericho… Really? Even better, Jericho isn’t even here which makes this worthless…

– FANDANGO and Rosa are out to accept the award. Fandango is accepting the award because he beat Chris Jericho in his debut match. This character couldn’t get any worse.

– Backstage Old Saint MICK (Foley) is shilling the WWE Network and WWEShop. Foley wants to send “Al from Lima, Ohio” a replica Slammy for Christmas. lol… Some comedy with Stone Cold’s catchphrase follows. As crappy as I’d like to say this was, it was actually pretty funny.

– We’re reminded that Big Show knocked Cena out and cost him an elimination at Survivor Series. Their match is next. Puke.

– Big Show is with Renee Young. Renee asks Show if he can focus on Cena tonight while knowing he has to meet Rowan in a stairs match at TLC. Show says he made a mistake at Series, but Cena is making a mistake tonight by facing Show. Show also says Rowan is out of his league.

–Commercial Break–

– They recycle BOOKER T to announce…

WWE SUPERSTAR OF THE YEAR
* John Cena
* Brrrock Lesnar
* Dean Ambrose
* Daniel Bryan
* Roman Reigns
* Bray Wyatt
* Seth Rollins

–Commercial Break–

– WWE Superstar of the Year is………… Roman Reigns…

I know these votes are supposed to be legit… But I’m not buying this one… No way he won this. Roman Reigns is however actually here in the arena!!! Reigns says he’s back live, and while the Slammy isn’t a brass ring, it’s pretty damn close. Reigns says he doesn’t care who’s at the top, when he returns shortly he’s stepping on top of them… Believe that.

A commercial at 10:57??? Okay, whatever prolongs the main event…

–Commercial Break–

7. John Cena vs. The Big Show

Whew, it’s 11pm, which means a nice, quick, short angle to set up the PPV, and not the 15 minute snooze fest I was fearing… Show pounds Cena to start things off. Show misses a chop in the corner and Cena comes back. Cena tries his flying shoulder block but bounces off show… lol… Show walks on Cena’s chest, slams John and drops a big elbow for a near fall. Show misses a charge in the corner and Cena nails a DDT. Cena back up but runs right into a side slam from Show. Big Show toys with Cena and grabs a bear hug. Cena escapes, Show tries a Chokeslam, but Cena counters with a Sleeper… Show starts to fade and drops to a knee. Show gets a second wind and snap mares Cena odd. Cena comes back with shoulder blocks to rock Show and a BACK SUPLEX takes Show down. Cena tries the 5 knuckle shuffle, but Show grabs a choke. Cena breaks free and lands the AA! 1….2….. Rollins and Security attack… DQ in 5:38.

Rollins brings a ladder into the ring while his security brings in a table. Rollins ascends the ladder to land a six foot curb stomp, nut Dolph Ziggler makes the save and pushes Seth off the ladder…. Dolph fights off the security but takes Big Show’s KO Punch… Then a KO Punch to Cena… Erick Rowan comes out to make the save, but Luke Harper attacks from behind… Harper & Big Show take out Rowan. Show CHOKESLAMS ROWAN ON THE STAIRS AND HE BOUNCES OFF OF THEM!!!! DAMN….

Ryback on his way down next… Ryback takes out Big Show… Ryback takes out Harper… Ryback sets up a table. Ryback scoops Harper up for Shell Shock, but Kane attacks with a CHAIR to Ryback…

Back in the ring, Big Show tries to Chokeslam Ziggler, but Dolph counters with two Superkicks to Show… Harper from behind FACE PLANTS Ziggler THROUGH THE TABLE!!!!

Cena with an AA on Harper…

Seth Rollins with a CURB STOMP on Cena…

Now Rollins and Security clear off the announce table and Triple Powerbomb Cena through the table…

Well that’s one way to sell all the gimmick matches on a PPV in a single segment…

Rollins music plays the show out as all of the heels reunite in the ring to stand tall…

That wraps it up…

WWE Nixes Plans For 40-Man Royal Rumble

0

Source: F4WOnline

We noted a while back that WWE had plans for a 40-man Royal Rumble main event in 2015 but it was later confirmed that the match would just be a 30-man Rumble.

It turns out that WWE wanted a number of ECW Originals in the match due to the show being held in Philadelphia. The idea was to use former ECW guys to get the match to 40 competitors. The idea of using former ECW guys was nixed and officials decided on going with the 30-man match.

Taz Speculates WWE Involvement With CM Punk – UFC Announcement, Jim Ross Blogs

0

– Taz posted the audio above talking about CM Punk signing with the UFC. It should be noted that it is not the first episode of his new podcast, Human Podcast Machine, which drops on January 7th. During the podcast, Taz talks about the timing with CM Punk’s shoot interview with Colt Cabana, Vince McMahon appearing on Steve Austin’s podcast and UFC announcing that they signed CM Punk. Taz speculates that given the timeline, perhaps WWE was involved with the UFC announcement. It’s an interesting listen.

– The list of would-be fighters who want to face CM Punk for his UFC debut continues to grow. As noted earlier, MMA fighter Jason David Frank, better known as the Green Power Ranger, has been challenging Punk to an MMA fight for years and immediately called him out on his Facebook page following the Punk – UFC announcement. FOX Sports has an article about Frank’s challenge here.

“Jason’s actually been kind of toying with the idea of fighting CM Punk for over a year now,” Frank’s manager Brian Butler from Suckerpunch Entertainment told FOX Sports on Sunday. “They toured together on the Wizard World conventions and they were doing appearances together and the fans were kind of talking about it and it got some buzz about a year ago. It never really died down, but with the announcement it flared back up.

“I got a text message from Jason right away saying ‘he wants to fight at middleweight, too, I’d love to do it, he got away from me’ just kind of joking around. But actually it makes a lot of sense.”

– IGN has an article about Frank wanting to fight Punk here, while Tech Times has a story about it at this link.

Jim Ross posted his latest blog at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are a few highlights:
UFC signing CM Punk:

“UFC scored a walk off grand slam with @DanaWhite’s signing of former WWE superstar @CMPunk. The signing itself was a major news maker plus the ability to document Punk’s training for his first fight which is still TBA should make for great TV on Fox. Punk has long been an aficionado and student of MMA having trained in Muay Thai and Gracie Ju Jitsu. The 36 year old will likely become obsessed in his training and is used to being considered an under achiever which will serve as a motivator for the former WWE World Champion as many MMA diehards who want to see Punk get beaten to a pulp and every wrestling fan who wants to see the Chicago born fighter succeed.”

How Punk signing with UFC affects Brock Lesnar:

“Punk, unlike Brock Lesnar, isn’t a former NCAA All American or a D1 National Champion but his heart and passion may tell another story. If UFC plays there cards strategically, Punk’s PPV debut will add greatly to any under card that is booked. The curiosity factor to invest in Punk’s first PPV will be big time. Speaking of Lesnar, Punk signing with UFC adds another wrinkle to the potential negotiations with Lesnar and UFC and/or Bellator. Interesting days lie ahead as it relates to contract negotiations. Punk signing with UFC helps Lesnar’s leverage without question.”

His latest podcast with Bob Holly:

“The @TheBobHolly podcast on the Ross Report has been nothing short of spectacular. If you haven’t heard it I strongly suggest that you do and download for free at podcastone.com. Downloading and subscribing to the Ross Report is FREE and your subscriptions help us greatly and, again, cost you nothing.”

Much more is contained in Ross’ latest blog, including more on CM Punk to the UFC, how Punk’s first UFC PPV will fare, tonight’s RAW, WWE’s crazy week and much more.
