Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

Former WWE Superstar CM Punk is expected to make his debut in UFC’s Octagon in late 2015. It was being speculated that Punk could debut on UFC’s big event in July 2015 but the feeling is that it will be later in the year.

On a related note, Punk will host a UFC 182 weigh-ins Q&A for Fight Club members on January 2nd at the Marquee Ballroom at MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The Q&A begins at 2pm local time.

The WWE Raw Report 12/22/14

Better late than never…. I hope… I started reviewing the show live on Monday, but after the initial segment, it became clear it just wasn’t going to get done with the visiting family hanging around for the holidays… So, anyway, I still wanted to watch the show so I figured why not write a report for archival purposes…

WWE Raw Results From The Target Center in Minneapolis, MN 12/22/14

Michael Cole makes sure to note it’s a Raw CHRISTMAS… Not Holiday… But Christmas… At least Vince McMahon

– We’ve got the HULKSTER in the ring to open the show… Hulk is dressed as Santa Claus… Brother… Since Mick Foley declined to work the show, Hulk makes the fans chant “Ho Ho Hogan”… Hulk talks the big, nasty, stinky, wart infester giant Big Show vs. , plus Ambrose vs. Wyatt in Miracle on 34th Street Fight.

John Cena interrupts… He makes FROZEN jokes and we get to relive the Cage Match finish from last month when Lesnar aided Rollins in defeating Cena… Cena wants a match with Rollins TONIGHT!!!

Seth Rollins interrupts from the stage… He talks about beating Cena in the cage, then uses some of Cena’s lines against him. Seth is also upset at Ho-Ho-Hogan running the show instead of the Authority. Fans chant “Ho-Ho-Hogan”, ugh… Rollins continues to explain his sadness for the lack of the Authority, and blames people like Cena and Sting. Rollins then threatens Hogan Claus and tells him he needs to grant his wish. Rollins wants Santa With Muscles to force Cena to bring the Authority back…

Cena says Seth is putting the fans to sleep. Cena tells Seth to come down to the ring and he will put his neon green sneakers so far up his ass that Seth with spit green for 2 weeks…

Hulk says he doesn’t have power to bring the Authority back, only Cena does. So instead, Hogan Claus makes a match with Cena vs. Rollins for right now…. Well, after the break.

–Commercial Break–

1. John Cena vs. Seth Rollins (w/Mercury & Noble)

Bells sounds as soon as we return from break. Seth stalls early and gets some cheap offense on Cena, finishing up with a middle rope Blockbuster for a 2 count… Cena comes back and busts out a STANDING DROPKICK out of nowhere. Hah. Seth goes right back under control however. Seth grabs the MITB briefcase teasing to hit Cena with it. He uses this to distract the referee while Joey Mercury blasts Cena with something behind the ref’s back. This spot gets a 2 count, and we’re off to commercial.

Back from break, Cena comes back from a chinlock, but misses a shoulderblock and falls to the floor. Rollins lands a suicide dive out onto Cena. Back inside, Seth lands some near falls including the Del Rio Superkick while Cena was on his knees gimmick. Cena comes back to try the AA, Rollins escapes and tries a standing Sliced Bread, but Cena counters that with his version of the Blue Thunder Bomb. Cena tries Five Knuckle Shuffle, but Rollins goes for a kick from his back, Cena sees it coming and flips Seth over to go for the STF… Rollins makes it to the ropes, but Cena grabs him by his feet to yank him off, the momentum carries Seth to his feet and Rollins lands a pele enzuigiri…. Hope you followed that sequence, lots of counters and moves there…

Seth charges at Cena but gets tossed straight up into the air and down into a powerbomb…1…..2…….Seth kicks out!!! The two men trade punches, Cena with another Blue Thunder Bomb and 5 knuckle shuffle…. Cena goes for AA but the stooges distract… Cena then backdrops Rollins out of the ring onto Noble & Mercury… I’ll be damned if Rollins doesn’t make Cena matches bearable to watch…

Back inside, Cena comes off the top rope with the Famouser thingy….1…………….2………..Rollins kicks out again!!! Cena tries a Superplex, but Rollins counters and lands the running Powerbomb into the corner on John for another near fall… Rollins charges with a running boot but Cena ducks and hooks the STF!!!! Rollins reaches the ropes, but Cena pulls him back and locks in the STF again… No wait… The Stooges are in the ring!!! Mercury distracts Cena while Noble charges from behind… Cena sidesteps, the stooges collide. Cena with the AA on both Stooges AT THE SAME TIME!!!

But wait, here comes Rollins with the MITB briefcase, he swings at Cena but misses. Seth drops the case and Cena finally lands the AA and it’s over in just under 17:00…

Nicely done… A fine present for Christmas… Cena goes over for the young fans, and Rollins pushes this thing to a fun match for me… It’s a win/win….

–Commercial Break–

– Kane steps in front of a decorated wreath and proclaims “Bah Humbug”… Cute

2. Jack Swagger vs. Fandango (w/Rosa)

Some headlock crap starts the match, Fandango bails, back inside it’s all Swagger, big boot, Jack tries for the ankle lock, Fandango tries to block a Swagger Bomb, but Jack lands it anyway… Fandango rolls to the apron, the ref tries to hold Jack back, and Fandango lands a trio of jumping kicks from the apron that lay Swagger out. Top rope legdrop ends it in 2:00… That was crap.

– In the back, Dolph Ziggler talks about his title match against Luke Harper tonight. Dolph mentions he’s a 4-time IC Champion, ignoring his World title reign because that’s what the boss told him to do, I suppose… No Christmas miracles tonight, just a Xmas present, so says Dolph. The present being, Dolph beats Harper to retain.

–Commercial Break–

– Since the New Day gimmick is failing miserably, we get a replay of the final New Day vignette… Something isn’t

3. R-Truth vs. Adam Rose

Truth does his jiggy dance stuff. Rose responds with some comedy heel dancing junk and tries to sucker kick Truth. R-Truth catches the foot, spins Rose around and rolls him up for the win in 54 seconds… Yes, for the win. Cole sounds shocked that Truth won.

After the match, Adam Rose lays out the Bunny with a spinebuster and continues to pummel said Bunny, then sits him up against the steel steps and drives a knee into his Bunny face… Rose then rips off the Bunny’s neckbrace and tosses the hare upside down into the barricade. Rose then shoves his Rosebuds around and stomps away…

–Commercial Break–

4. Roman Reigns vs. The Big Show

This match is made after their recent interactions. We get a Big Show inserted promo before the match, he threatens to knock Reigns out tonight. Reigns gets an inserted promo as well, Roman says the Holiday season is about giving, and he’s going to give Show everything he has tonight… Show controls early, even picking Reigns up into a press slam position before dropping him across the ropes. Reigns comes back and escapes Show’s cobra clutch thing. Roman with a Samoan Drop, big clothesline drops Show. Big Show back up and tries a Chokeslam, but Reigns takes Show down and lands the dropkick on the apron spot… Now out on the floor, Roman Reigns with a SUPERMAN PUNCH that knocks Show over the Announcer’s Table…. Show gets counted out in 4:30, and he’s pissed off… Reigns gets the win…

– Renee Young interviews Dean Ambrose. Hogan Claus has made a “Mirracle on 34th Street Fight” for tonight’s main event between Dean and Bray Wyatt. Ambrose makes a few bad Christmas puns to involve kicking Bray’s ass into the promo. Not one of Dean’s best.

–Commercial Break–

5. Natalya (w/Tyson Kidd) vs. Brie Bella (w/Nikki)

We’re reminded of Tyson checking on Nikki Bella after the last fight the girls had. Brie dominates this entire match, and it’s boring as hell. Brie Mode running knee to the face on Nattie… Natalya rolls through on something and makes a little bit of offense for herself. Nattie tries for the Sharpshooter, but Brie counters with an inside cradle 1…2…Nattie reverses the cradle…1…2…3! Nattie wins… I didn’t time this crap, I’d guess around 3:30 to 4:00…

Tyson celebrates with his wife while Nikki gets up on the apron… Nattie knocks Nikki to the floor and Nikki sells her knee again…

–Commercial Break–

– THE ASCENSION WILL RISE. Promo on the Ascension heading to WWE… Road Warriors 2k15.

– Inserted promo from Gold & Stardust. They are not fans of Rudolph, or El Torito, who is dressed as Rudolph tonight…

6. Los Matadores (w/Torito) vs. Gold & Stardust

Torito is “El Reino” for tonight, antlers, red nose and all… Torito wants to start the match even though he’s not in the match, I don’t think??? The announcers aren’t even sure… Torito lands an armdrag on Stardust on the floor, a bit more reindeer comedy before the match gets going with Goldust and a Matador. Stardust tags in but comes off the top rope right into a dropkick from Diego. Hot tag to Fernando, flying huracan rana from the middle rope on Goldust. Tag to Torito… Okay, so Torito IS in this match… That clears up that…. Goldust has Torito up for a slam, but spins Torito’s feet into Stardust, knocking Star out of the ring… Goldust is stunned and catches a BACK STABBER from one of the Matadors, and Torito lands a Lionsault on Goldust to end the match in 3:30…

A Dust Brothers split, she’s a coming…

– Luke Harper Promo. He doesn’t believe in giving, he likes taking. Tonight he takes back the IC Title…

–Commercial Break–

7. IC Champion Dolph Ziggler vs. Luke Harper

Harper Ziggler out with a BIG BOOT as Dolph is being introduced… Dolph rolls outside and Harper hits a SUICIDE DIVE next…. Dolph slides out of a powerbomb on the floor, but Luke PLANTS HIM with a spinning Sidewalks slam in the aisle… Back inside, the referee checks to see if Ziggler can even begin the match.. THE MATCH HASN’T EVEN STARTED YET!

As soon as the bell sounds, Harper smashes Ziggler with a Superkick, and then a sit out Powerbomb for a near fall… Luke knocks Dolph around for a bit, counters Ziggler’s standing dropkick and catapults Dolph’s throat under the middle rope. We head to break…

Back from break, Ziggler tries a comeback but gets dropkicked to the floor. Harper drops Dolph face first into the announce table. Ziggler battles back with his standing dropkick, but misses his splash in the corner. Harper with a pump-handle overhead throw for 2… Ziggler blocks a Falcon Arrow, but Harper manages a Michinoku Driver for 2… Lawler is confused as to why it’s called a Michinoku Driver, ugh, come on Jerry….

Dolph counters a powerbomb with a sunset flip for 2… Harper gets pissed and lays Ziggler out with a Big Boot… Harper goes for the discus clothesline but runs into a ZIGGLER SUPERKICK… then Harper STILL responds with the spinning CLOTHESLINE… Insane… Great spot…. Harper gets a near fall….

For the third time tonight, YOU CAN’T POWERBOMB ZIGGLER, Dolph counters this time with a face buster…. AND THE FAMOUSER!!!! 1……….2…..Harper kicks out!!! Ziggler goes for another Famouse… Harper counters into a Powerbomb… BUT YOU CAN’T POWERBOMB ZIGGLER… Dolph escapes again… SUPERKICK BY ZIGGLER… A SECOND SUPERKICK….. ZIGZAG DROPS HARPER!!!! 1………..2………….3!!!!!!!!!!

Ziggler gets the win in 17:30…..

Wow, what a great match… Two good matches on one show??? Wow…. Merry Christmas to me…

Ya know, I’m a big fan of both of these guys, but some of their singles matches for me have been missing that cspecial chemistry…. You can throw that out the window tonight… This was a great match…

–Commercial Break–

– Edge & Christian host next week’s Raw… Hulk Hogan returns this week for Smackdown….

– It’s PIPER’S PIT time, Roddy Piper’s guests are US Champion Rusev & Lana. A very short promo by Piper before he introduces his guests LAYNA & RUSOV… Lana cuts off Piper and finishes his sentence for him. Lana shits on Christmas in America. Americans pretend to be good people once a year, and we believe in fat santa who gives gifts to spoiled kids. Piper cuts her off and informs her in America we can believe in whatever we want… “USA” chants. Lana tells Piper to “believe in this” as she points to the Titan Tron where we see Rusev take out Ryback from Smackdown…

Rusev asks if we believe now that he can crush Ryback… “Feed Me More” chants… Rusev asks Piper if he believes that Rusev can crush the Hot Rod… Piper calls them Communist Scrooges… Wow… Piper likes his guests so much that he went out and got them a Christmas gift… And he put a bow on it….

IT’S RYBACK…. WITH A BOW ON HIM…. Rusev meets Ryback on the floor and Ryback beats the shit out of Rusev… Now inside the ruing, Rusev takes over, but Ryback catches the big savatte kick. Ryback lays Rusev out with the SPINEBUSTER and sets up for the meathook Clothesline, but Rusev bails….

Piper raises Ryback’s hand as the fans chant “Feed Me More”….

Fun segment, but all I can think is my God they’re going to kill Ryback a second time just to push the Anti-American gimmick that Vince loves so much,

–Commercial Break–

8. Alicia Fox, Emma & Naomi vs. Paige, Cameron & Summer Rae

This is billed as a Santa’s Helpers match as all the Divas are in Holiday costumes, well except Paige who sports a black santa hat, cuz that’s how she rolls… Emma has some comedy fun with Summer to start, but the heels get Emma in their corner. Cameron hits Emma with some type of Codebreaker for 2.. Paige tags in and works over Emma. A double clothesline spot leads to hot tags for Naomi & Cameron. Naomi gets the better and makes a cover, but it’s broken up and we’ve got all 6 girls in the ring… And most of them gets knocked to the floor… It’s back to Naomi & Cameron, Naomi tags to Alicia Fox who lays out Cameron with some cool looking leg move thingy and gets the win in like 5:00… They gave the win to the right girl, Alicia clearly had the best costume. 🙂

–Commercial Break–

– THE ASCENSION get a second vignette. Why not, the show’s three hours…

– Miz Promo, he’s so generous he’s going to let Sandow sing a Christmas jingle… Sandow starts to sing, but he’s cut short on time. Miz sends us off with Sandow mimicking him. lol. What? I like it…

9. The Miz (w/Sandow) vs. Jey Uso (w/Jimmy Uso)

Jey has control early with Sandow taking comedy bumps to follow up the Miz. Miz comes back with a threatening chinlock of doom… Jey escapes and hits a Samoan Drop, Miz back on top tries a Skull Crushing Finale and a Figure Four but fails at both… Jey Uso with a roll up, Miz reverses and hooks the trunk to steal the win in maybe 4:00 tops…

–Commercial Break–

– Scotty Schwartz “Flick” from a Christmas Story is sitting behind the announcers.

Bray Wyatt heads to the ring for a promo. Fans are in “WHAT?” mode, which ruins much of the promo. It’s a good promo on Christmas vs. The Real World… The WWE is killing the character though, and the fans are clearly losing interest in the personality and promos. Follow the buzzards…

Dean Ambrose is on his way out next as we see Christmas trees, wreaths, presents and gift boxes are stacked everywhere around ringside… Dean has a Santa sack with him full of goodies, like a kendo stick decorated as a giant candy cane… The Main Event is next…

–Commercial Break–

MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET FIGHT
10. Dean Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt

As you’d expect, a lot of brawling to start…. Ambrose dropkicks Bray outside and throws him through a lit up Christmas Tree… Dean then suplexes a tree on Bray and beats him with it. Ambrose opens a gift box and finds a TV monitor, so he puts that back, lol… Next Dean pulls out a TABLE WITH A BOW ON IT… Bray pushes the table back under the ring to draw boos lol… Ambrose with a suicide dive on Wyatt… Fans chant “Merry Christmas”… Dean bowls Wyatt through a 6 foot stack of boxes and sets the table up. Wyatt runs away from the table so Dean follows and beats him over the head with a wreath… Dean opens another present to find a STEEL CHAIR… with a bow on ot… lol. Bray blocks the chair shot and throws Ambrose off the entrance stage through a table…. And we’re off to commercial…

Back from break, Wyatt a chinlock soundly applied in the ring… Ambrose tries to come back with a missile dropkick but misses… Bray follows up with a senton splash for 2… Ambrose again tries a comeback, but Wyatt plows him over with a body attack… They go back outside and Ambrose is thrown through a Christmas tree… The fans chant “One More Tree” and Bray obliges as he sends Dean through the final Christmas tree.. Wyatt tosses 5 chairs into the ring and then beats Ambrose down with the Candy Cane Kendo Stick… Wyatt ties the Kendo Stick on the top buckle so that it sticks straight out into the ring. Wyatt tries to impale Dean into the stick, but Dean blocks… Ambrose tries the same but Bray lays him out with a nasty clothesline… Wyatt props a chair in the corner and tries to send Dean into it, but Ambrose reverses and Bray goes into the chair…

Ambrose fires up and takes over, charge in the corner and the bulldog out onto Wyatt. Now Ambrose pulls out his own Candy Cane Kendo Stick, Wyatt blocks it and tries a Urinage, but Dean counters and hits his rocking chair on the rope spot into a clothesline…. Ambrose now uses the kendo stick on Bray and lands the White Russian Legsweep… Diving Chair Follows…1…..2……….Wyatt kicks out….

And OUT COMES A LADDER… Dean props the ladder into the corner, but Bray pops up into his spider walk stance, then spins around and immediately drives Dean with a URINAGE INTO THE LADDER!!! 1…….2…Ambrose kicks out… Wyatt tries Sister Abigail, Dean breaks free and throws Bray into the ladder, and rolls Wyatt up for 2…..

Now Dean stands the ladder up and climbs up top, Ambrose comes off with the standing flying elbowdrop for a near fall… Dean stacks chairs on Wyatt and goes back up the ladder for another elbow, but Bray jumps up and throws a chair right into Dean’s face!!! Ambrose tumbles off the ladder, Bray grabs him and throws Dean face first right into the kendo stick protruding from the corner… Ouch, Damn, Dangerous spot the first time, Dangerous to do it again… Bray gets the win in 21:00….

Another solid match….

The show isn’t over yet… Dean rolls out and grabs a fire extinguisher to blind Wyatt and get him on the table outside… Dean then climbs the ropes and puts Wyatt through the table on the floor to end the show in a true holiday spirit….

Overall fun show… Three good matches overshadow all the mediocre to bad stuff…

A fine gift for me, what a fitting way to close the year, a Raw worth watching!!! Definitively check out the 3 big matches, if you haven’t already…

Enjoy your holiday season, Crazy Max is alive for 2015!!!

D-Von Dudley & Rick Rage vs. Dudley Boys (w/ Sign Guy Dudley), ref John “Pee Wee” Moore
Axl Rotten was scheduled to be D-Von’s partner but isn’t here tonight. D-Von on the mic before the match gets the crowd riled up by trashing talking them and his half brothers. Spike starts with Rick Rage but Rage is too big for him and he gets tossed around. Powerslam gets 2. Tag made to D-Von. Spike with a head scissor and he tags Buh Buh. They brawl nand Buh Buh hits a cutter for 2. D-Von with a low blow and rocker dropper. D-Von goes up top with a chair but Buh Buh cuts him off. Rage distracts Buh Buh and D-Von is able to hit him with the chair. D-Von jumps off the top but Buh Buh drop kicks him gets the chair and nails everyone. D-Von makes the tag to Rage Buh Buh with a bossman slam Spike jumps off of Buh Buh’s shoulders with a splash and gets the win in 5.46. D-Von and Rage attack after the match and take out the Dudleys. Tag Team Champions The Gangstas make the save and a big brawl breaks out. D-Von bails but Big Dick Dudley meets him in the aisle. They brawl now. The Gangstas and Dudleys beat down Rage and then leave.

“Dangerous” Devon Storm vs. Pitbull 2
Originally advertised as Pitbull 2 vs. Doug Furnas. Pitbull hits the ring and Storm attacks right away. To the floor the go. Storm with a somersault plancha out of the ring. In the ring Storm with a side slam and he goes up top and lands a moonsault but Pitbull no sells that and pops right back up. Pitbull with a pressslam and then a clothesline that sends them both out of the ring to the floor. Storm goes for a top rope cross body but gets caught and placed on on the top turnbuckle for a super fall away slam that ends things in 3.39.

Erotic Experience vs. Mikey Whipwreck & Davey Tyler, ref John Finnegan
Tyler will is the future Kid Kash. “Precious” Pat Day starts off with Mikey. A boring chant breaks out 1 minute into the match as Mikey works the arm. A drop kick sends Day to the floor to regroup and Mikey planchas onto both members of the Experience. Tyler and GQ Gorgeous Quartermaine both tag in. Tyler with a drop kick and a double underhook piledriver. GQ looks legit out of it and kicks Tyler and tags out. Day loks in a chin lock and then tags back to GQ. Guess he just needed a minute to clear the cobwebs. GQ back to the chinlock but Tyler gets out with a jaw breaker. Tyler puts GQ aross the second rope and goes to do the boss man jump on the guys back thing. GQ moves and Tyler flies in between the ropes to the floor. Day tags in and hits a gut wrench suplex for 2. GQ tags back in. They hit a double shoulder block. A few tags back and forth from the Experience. GQ hits a powerslam and top rope leg drop. Day tags in and misses a top rope senton. Mikey and GQ tag in and Mikey takes out both opponents. All four men in the ring and Day goes for a power bomb on Tyler but it gets reversed into a rana. Tyler drop kicks Day out of the ring and hits a plancha. Super rana on GQ and Mikey gets the pin in 11.38.

Bill Alfonso (w/ Taz) vs. Tod Gordon, ref Jim Molineaux
They roll around and fight a bit. Gordon gets a cookie pan and blasts Alfonso with it busting him open. Gordon goes for the cover but Taz punches him knocking him out. The ref wants to know what happened and Taz says that he passed out. Alfonso covers and gets the win in 4.10. Taz on the mic talks about how he’s been begging Gordon for a year for a match with Sabu.

2 Cold Scorpio vs. “Dr. Death” Steve Williams, ref John Finnegan
Giant clash of styles here. I fully expect this match to suck. “You sold out” chants at Scorpio. I guess he’s signed with the WWF. Dr. Death’s tights look like a giant adult diaper. Scorpio hits four shoulder blocks only the last one takes Williams down. “Flash Funk” chants ring out. Scorpio goes for a leap frog but Williams catches him and powerslams him for a 2 count. After some submission wrestling they go to the floor and brawl. Back in the ring Scorpio gets a 2 count with a moonsault. He goes back up comes off with a cross body but gets caught and power slammed for 2. Oklahoma Stampede gets 2. Doctor bomb finishes things in 8.13

“The Franchise” Shane Douglas (w/ Francine) vs. Louie Spicolli, ref John “Pee Wee” Moore
Mic work from Shane before the match. Spicolli says last time he and Shane wrestled Douglas got lucky and barely won this time he won’t get lucky cause Louie is going home with the title. That pervious match took place on the 9-17 TV show and was pretty good. Spicolli with the early advantage he goes for the DVD but Shane wiggles free and bails out. Back in the ring Shane goes for a belly to belly but it’s blocked. Douglas with a headlock takeover. Spicolli gets out with a belly to back. Louie again goes for the DVD but Shane grabs onto the ref to get out. Clothesline sends him to the floor and Louie follows out with a baseball slide. Francine distracts Spicolli, which allows Shane to post him. Spicolli is bleeding. Suplex by Shane for 2 as Spicolli is now covered in blood. Shane just stomping away on Louie. Spicolli with a school boy for 2. Shane sets up two chairs and power bombs Louie through them but only gets 2. Louie hits a spin buster and now both men are down. Northern lights by Louie gets 2. Back drop and a belly to belly by Louie but Francine distracts the ref so he can’t make the count. Francine now gets some powder and throws it in the eyes of Louie as he goes for the DVD. The ref goes over to check on Louie and he thinks it’s Shane. Louie DVDs the ref and then Shane hits a single arm DDT. Pitbull 2 hits the ring and Shane and Francine bail. For some reason JT Smith, Blue Meanie, Super Nova and the Erotic Experience come to ringside. Pitbull gets Joel Gertner and throws him onto all of those guys. Call this a no contest in just over 13 minutes.

Eliminators vs. Sabu & Rob Van Dam, ref Jim Molineuax
After the introductions we clip to the start of the match. Saturn and Sabu are in the ring after a quick back and forth both teams make a tag. Van Dam hits a really shitty looking karate chop on Kronus. Kronus hits a power slam but Sabu breaks up the pin. Pump handle throw by Kronus. Saturn tags in and hits an axe kick for 2. Van Dam makes a tag. Double drop kick by the Eliminators as Kronus now comes in. Front slam and a 2nd rope moonsault by Kronus. Suplex for 2. Sabu comes back with a springboard leg lariat and makes the tag. Van Dam in with a rolling thunder leg drop and top rope leg drop. Saturn breaks up the pin. Saturn and Sabu now tag in and they go to the floor. Kronus hits a handspring into a moonsault over the ropes and out of the ring. Van Dam then somersaults over the top rope onto everyone. Sabu sets up a table he goes to triple jump Saturn through it but Saturn springboards and clotheslines the chair…? Sabu with a tornado DDT through the table from the apron. Standing moonsault and weak ass forearms by Van Dam to Kronus. Kronus comes back with the handspring back elbow in the corner. Sabu and Saturn tag in. Sabu gets the upper hand and hits an Arabian press then tags Van Dam in. Van Dam with a surf board but Kronus breaks it up. Saturn hits a clothesline then goes up top and lands the elbow drop. Kronus in with a double underhook powerbomb for 2. Saturn in with a nice looking powerslam. Double spin kick by the Eliminators. Kronus gets a 2 count. Double clothesline and both Kronus and Van Dam go down. Each tag. Sabu goes for a springboard move but Van Dam jumps in the ring and hits Saturn. Kronus breaks it up and goes for a pin on Van Dam but Sabu breaks it up. Sabu goes for a triple jump leg drop but can’t keep his balance and falls backwards out of the ring. He gets back in the ring and hits a triple jump moonsault but Saturn breaks it up and hits a falcon’s arrow for 2. Sabut breaks that up. Van Dam hits a kick on Saturn and Sabu a splash but Kronus breaks up the pin now. Super kick on Sabu and they throw him to the floor. Saturn with a pump kick on Van Dam. Sabu comes off the top rope and his both the Eliminators with a DDT. Van Dam and Sabu each go for the cover and the bell rings and we have a time limit draw in 17.59. An interesting time limit for a match to have. The ref decides that the match will get 5 more minutes. Sabu with a rana and Arabian face buster but Saturn gets his foot on the rope. Press slam by Saturn followed by a spring board moonsault. Van Dam with a split legged moonsault onto a chair on Kronus and all four men are down. Fishermen suples by Saturn has Van Dam down for a 2. Saturn has Sabu pinned and Van Dam small packages Kronus the bell rings again as our five minutes has ended after 1.59. Someone needs to get a new watch. The Eliminators refuse to wrestle anymore. Sabu and Van Dam chase them into the back. This match was a pretty big mess.

Steel Cage Match: Raven & “Primetime” Brian Lee (w/ Lori & Tyler Fullington) vs. World Champion Sandman & Tommy Dreamer (w/ Beulah), refs John Finnegan & Jim Molineaux
Blue Meanie, Stevie Richards and Super Nova hits the ringside area and attack Dreamer and Sandman before they get in the ring. They get thrown into the ring but Raven and Dreamer quickly go back out of the cage to the floor. Raven with a DDT on the floor. Back in the ring he and Lee hit a spike piledriver on Sandman. They are making sure Dreamer doesn’t get back in the ring. Lee now goes to the floor to fight with Dreamer. Meanie jumps in the ring and splashes Sandman up against the cage. Sandman is busted wide open. Raven tries to use the cane but Sandman ducks and hits a DDT. Lee goes for a chokeslam but Sandman uses the cane to break out and he hits a DDT on Raven for 2. A golf club comes flying into the ring. Richards comes in to help beat on Sandman but misses a stevie kick that hits Lee. Raven with a DDT for 2. Nova now in the ring. Lori Fullington has the worst voice ever. Dreamer finally makes it back in the ring. The ref gets sandwiched in the corner and smashed by Sandman, Raven and Lee. Lee brings a table into the ring and sets it up. Piledriver on the table by Raven sends Sandman crashing through. Chokeslam by Dreamer on Lee. Dreamer hits a DDT on Raven and puts Sandman on top and the ref wakes up to count the fall. About 10.30 on this one. There was no opening bell so I started timing it once the cage door shut with all four guys in the ring. Dreamer misses his big chance to finally pin Raven here, as it was his move that got the job done. Lee takes out by Dreamer and Sandman after the match and leaves them laying in the ring.

My thoughts on the show…
Really wasn’t a fan of this one as based on performance everything was mostly below average.

Los Maximos are out first and on last weeks TV they sent out an open challenge let’s see who accepted. Out come Jimmy Yang and Tony Mamaluke. This seems like a waste of an open challenge.

Los Maximos vs. Jimmy Yang & Tony Mamaluke
Yang starts off and he hits a drop kick on Joel and the go to the floor. Joel tries to come back into the ring by coming off the top but he gets dropped to the floor. Yang with a corckscrew dive to the floor. Mamaluke tagged in and he gets 2 off a back body drop. Joel tries to come off the second rope but Mamaluke reverses to a fujiwara arm bar. Joel gets to the ropes and hits a belly to belly and tags. Jose comes in with an enziguri and clotheslines Mamaluke to the floor. Yang comes in and clotheslines Jose to the floor and follows with a dive. Joel tries a baseball slide but shockingly fucks it up. Asia moonsault onto all three guys now by Joel. Back in the ring they stack their opponents on top of each other and lock in a tandem boston crab and camel clutch. In the ring Mamaluke with a drop toe hold and then he tags Yang. Yang and Jose go for suplexes but keep blocking. Yang eventually floats over and Jose just runs sternum first into the turnbuckle. Yang kicked at him but it was not even close and happened about 2 seconds after Joel started running, Maximos are so terrible. Jose hits the buckle and stumbles out and Yang kicks him in the back of the head. A suplex by Yang gets 2 and then he tags out. Hammerlock belly to back by Mamaluke for 2. Full nelson by Mamaluke and they go into a back and forth spot that ends in a single arm DDT and submission attempt by Mamaluke. Joel breaks it up but Jose’s arm is in bad shape. Yang tags and kicks Jose right in the face. Yang with a headscissor positioned in the way Tajiri would do the tarantula. They go to the top rope and Jose fights off and goes for a superrana but Yang blocks it and goes for a super bomb but that gets reversed into the super rana. Both men tag Mamaluke goes for a bulldog but gets hung up on the top rope. Joel hangs onto him and sets him up for a neckbreaker will Jose hits a springboard moonsault. This looked cool but took a real long time to set up. Yang makes the save and then gets dumped. They go for a doomsday crossbody but Mamaluke reverses it into a powerslam for 2. Mamaluke with a brainbuster on Joel as Yang and Jose fight in the crowd. Mamaluke goes up top but the Maximos cut him off and hit the Spanish fly for the win in 9.12. Joey says they looked fantastic during the win but he’s lying. They shake hands with Yang but Mamaluke refuses.

Richard J. Criado vs. “Canadian Dynamite” Josh Daniels
Joey claims that Criado has an upset win over Nosawa in MLW. This never happened. After some headlock work by Criado, Daniels hits 3 arm drags and a snap suplex for 2. Daniels ducks a clothesline and dumps Criado to the floor and then dives through the ropes onto him. Inverted atomic drop by Daniels back in the ring. He hits the ropes and Criado catches him and hits a tilt a whirl back breaker to gain control of the match. Daniels fights out of a dragon sleeper and gets a 2 count off a northern lights with a bridge. Daniels hits the ropes but eats a back elbow. Criado with a nice brainbuster. He taunts and almost pays for it as Daniels wraps him up for a 2. Criado up quick with a clothesline. Joey says the Nosawa match was last week so I’m thinking it may have been filmed earlier this night and will be exclusive to TV. Criado really not doing much at all but taking up tons of time. Daniels makes a come back and hits a release german for 2. Daniels charges but gets caught in a sick looking michinoku driver for almost 3. Criado sends Daniels into the corner and charges. Criado misses and ends up seated on the second turnbuckle. Daniels locks in a full nelson and pulls Criado of the buckle into a full nelson suplex for the win in 7.23. Slow match, Criado doesn’t do much. The finishing move would have been cool if Criado didn’t land mostly on Daniels face instead of the mat.

Da Hit Squad vs. The Samoan Island Tribe
Hit Squad come out to no reaction at all. Joey really hyped them last week on TV but no one seems to know them. Ekmo joins the Tribe today to team with Samu. Ekmo is fresh off his stay in the WWF as Jamal, part of 3 Minute Warning. It starts out as a fight and continues to the floor. Ekmo kills Mafia with a chair. The fans are loving this. Mafia moves out of the way of an Ekmo charge and Ekmo crashes through a table. Samu is seated in the corner and Monsta Mac charges with a crossbody. Ekmo back in the ring with a superkick on Mac. Da Squad with a double team suplex on Ekmo. Figure four by Homicide and Mac hits a frog splash. Samu pulls the ref out of the ring to stop the count. Mac goes for a crossbody but Ekmo doesn’t go down. He goes for another one but gets caught and hit with a swinging urinagi! The Samoans take over and hit splashes in the corner. They throw the ref out of the ring. The fans are loudly behind the Samoans. Some security and refs come out to pull the Samoans back and the bell rings at 5 minutes. Da Hit Squad gets up and the fight continues.

Global Tag Team Crown Champion CW Anderson vs. “Dr. Death” Steve Williams
Ya know I just realized that when the Extreme Horsemen were to be presented with the belts they got jumped. Court Bower was supposed to present them and had a briefcase with him, which was said to hold the belts. They were never presented and we have never seen them. They must not actually have any belts. If Williams and Sandman can beat Anderson and Simon Diamond in singles matches tonight they get a title shot next month. Williams hits the ring and is jumped right away. CW has the advantage but Williams fights back and they take it to the floor. The fight continues and Williams gets hip tossed on the floor. Williams fights back and throws Anderson into the crowd. Williams with a few chair shots but Anderson comes back and uses the chair on Williams. Anderson hits Williams in the arm with it. Williams rolls into the ring and clotheslines Anderson but it also hurts his arm. Anderson goes to work on the arm. After a few minutes Williams hulks up but misses a corner charge. Anderson gets two on a belly to back suplex. Williams again makes a comeback but gets cut off by a superkick that almost gets 3. Anderson misses a corner charge and Doc goes for Oklahoma stampede but Anderson’s foot hits the ref. Williams has the cover but the ref is down. Simon Diamond runs in and hits a superkick. Williams just manages to kick out. Anderson locks in a sleeper as Sandman runs down to chase away Diamond. Williams breaks out of the sleeper with death drop driver and he picks up the win in 9.06. Anderson’s heat spots seemed to take forever. This match was pretty slow.

“Evil F’n Show” Jerry Lynn (w/ Sinister Minister) vs. Homicide
Paul London was supposed to be tonight’s opponent for Lynn but London had been signed by WWE. Lynn gets on the mic and runs him down. Lynn says he doesn’t care who downs next because he is going to bring out all his frustration on them. Lynn attacks as soon as Homicide hits the ring but he gets taken down with a head scissor and goes to the floor to slow it down. Back in the ring Lynn has the early advantage but Homicide is able to out wrestle him and ends up with a headlock. Lynn backs it into the corner and throws a few elbows. Lynn sends it other way and goes for a monkey flip but Homicide lands on his feet. Lynn charges but gets taken down. They trade missing elbow drops, Homicide with an arm drag into an arm bar. They end up on the floor Homicide goes for a baseball slide but Lynn catches his legs and spins and drops him on the guardrail. Lynn with a chair to the back. They go into the ring and Lynn with a chin lock. Homicide fights out and lands a missle drop kick from the second rope. Homicide beats Lynn down in the corner. He backs up charges and hits a flying knee to the face of Lynn. Lynn comes back and is working over the jaw. Homicide pointing to his face and Joey wonders if the jaw was broken on the guardrail. Homicide charges but Lynn with a tornado single arm DDT for another near 3. Lynn goes for a cradle piledriver gets backdrop out of it but lands on his feet. Lynn pushes off Homicide who goes for a clothesline. Lynn ducks it lands a TKO but NO Homicide just manages to kick out. Both men are down and the ref beings the 10 count. Lynn up and goes for a tombstone but its reversed but Homicide can’t hold it and they just kinda slide to the ground. Lynn goes for a clothesline Homicide ducks and goes for the cop killer but Lynn slips out. Homicide hits the ropes and nails a mafia kick. Lynn barely kicks out. All the fans are on their feet. Homicide goes up but gets cut off. Superrana by Lynn but Homicide rolls through and gets a 3 count in 17.34!!! Pretty awesome match. Interesting choice of body part to work over by Lynn I have never seen that before. I would say this is in the top 3 MLW matches so far. I was surprised by the finish. Even though they have jobbed out Lynn in MLW I was thinking with the addition of Sinister Minister and further change of character that he would pick up the win.

Global Tag Team Crown Champion Simon Diamond vs. Sandman
Sandman plays to the crowd and Diamond gets on the mic and asks him if he’s done yet. Diamond questions where Sandman’s cane is and then tells him he took it and hid it cause he knows it’s the only way he could beat him. Diamond says Sandman would never be able to out wrestle him and goes to shake his hand. Sandman grabs it and goes for an arm bar but kicks super kicked. Already? I hate that every member of the Extreme Horsemen does a super kick. Sandman fights back and they go to the floor. Sandman chops Diamond all around the ringside area and then they go back in. Sandman hangs Diamond on the top rope and hits a leg drop from the top turn buckle. Superranna and Diamond grabs onto the ref as CW Anderson comes into the ring and superkicks Sandman. Diamond gets two but then finishes off Sandman with the gem cutter in 3.10. Sandman and Steve Williams don’t get a tag team title match now. This match was too short to be anything.

Mikey Whipwreck (w/ Sinister Minister) vs. Sabu (w/ Bill Alfonso)
They trade punches right away. Sabu gets the upperhand and goes right for the camel clutch. Minister attacks Alfonso on the floor distracting Sabu. This allows Mikey to attack from behind. They go to the floor and Mikey puts Sabu on a table and begins to climb the ropes but Sabu pulls him down. Sabu now goes up to the top turnbuckle but Minister pushes him off and back into the ring. Mikey comes off the top with a clothesline for 2. Minister puts a table in the ring and Mikey puts it on its side and crotches Sabu on it. Sabu comes back with a DDT for 2. Minister comes into the ring and throws fire into Sabu’s eyes. Mikey attacks Sabu’s arm with a chair. Arabian face buster by Mikey and he covers for the win in 5.32. Mikey attacks Sabu’s arm with the chair again after the match. Sabu is on the ground in pain hold his arm. Alfonso comes in the ring and pours water on it. Haha what? How is that supposed to be helpful? This was more of a mess then most Sabu matches.

Richard J Criado vs. Nosawa
Well I guess this is that upset win by Criado Joey was talking about earlier. Joey says a major announcement is coming next week on MLW TV regarding the junior division. Nosawa uses his speed and kicks to gain the early advantage. Cirado fires back and chokes Nosawa in the corner. He charges Nosawa in the corner but eats a boot. Nosawa comes out with a clothesline attempt but its ducked. Criado plants Nosawa with a michinoku driver and gets the quick victory in 1.39

CM Punk & Michael Shane (w/ Francine) vs. Raven & Norman Smiley (w/ GI Ho)
Punk gets on the mic and trashes the Florida fans. Some theatrics from Smiley and Ho before the bell. Punk and Raven start off but before they even make contact Punk tags Shane. Smiley comes in and they lock up. Shane with a shoulder block and he goes for a back body drop but Smiley kicks him hits a clothesline and slam. Raven hits a DDT but Francine breaks it up. Cat fight time. Shane with a super kick on GI Ho! Smiley rushes to her side. Shane nails Smiley with a chair and goes after Raven but he moves. The chair bounces off the ropes and hits Shane. Raven goes to DDT Shane but Punk throws powder in his eyes and DDTs Raven. Punk gets the win for his team in 11.59. Raven gets Ho to show her boobs after the match. This was good enough nothing spectacular but nothing bad.

Terry Funk is out next to take on whoever has taken Champion Steve Corino up on his bounty. Corino comes out next. Corino says Funk is old and should have retired years ago. Corino says Abdullah the Butcher will not come out to fight Funk because Corino can collect his own bounty. Funk goes after Corino and Abdullah attacks from behind.

Abdullah the Butcher vs. Terry Funk
Abby smashes Funk in the face with a broken bottle and Funk is bleeding. Into the ring they go and Abby uses the bottle on Funk’s arm. Funk is bleeding like crazy. Funk goes to the floor and throws some chairs into the ring. Funk comes back in the ring and Abby stabs him with something he took from his boots. Funk gets the fork and stabs Abby and he’s now bleeding. Funk goes low on Abby about ten times. Funk throws a chair at Abby and goes for the spinning toe hold. Abby breaks it by using the fork on Funk. This match is so slow. Abby drops the elbow for 2. Irish whip and Funk hits the most awful looking cross body block ever for the win at 7.41. I hope this match doesn’t make it to TV so I don’t have to watch it again.

Champion Steve Corino vs. Mike Awesome
Awesome jumps Corino as soon as he gets in the ring. Corner whip followed by an avalanche and Awesome sends him back the other way and hits another one. Release german and a clothesline sends Corino to the floor. Corino fights back on the floor and sends Awesome into the ring post. Styles reminds us that Awesome has promised to win the match by knock out. Corino back in the ring charges Awesome who is standing on the apron. Awesome goes up top again and hits the big splash but some how Corinon is able to kick out. Awesome brings two tables into the ring, he leans them in opposite corners. Corino slips out of an awesomebomb. Awesome turns and charges to clothesline Corino but he ducks and the ref gets nailed. Corino with a superkick. Awesome comes right back and hits the running bomb through the table. Back the other way with another one through the table. Corino is out but there is no ref to count the fall. The ref finally wakes up but Corino is able to kick out at 2. Corino fights back and hits Awesome with something that shatters. Awesome kicks out though. Extreme Horsemen hit the ring and start stomping Awesome. They hold him and Corino picks up a chair. Terry Funk hits the ring and nails everyone with a garbage can. He throws a chair at Corino but he ducks. It nails Awesome and Corino gets the pin in 10.49. So you’re telling me Steve fucking Corino can get his ass beat and still not go down but someone throws a chair at Mike Awesome and it’s enough to pin him. That’s bullshit. Extreme Horsemen beat on Funk after the match. They hang Funk over the top rope with wrist tape. Sandman and “Dr. Death” Steve Williams make the save. Sandman challenges the Tag Champions to a match right now. Diamond says yes but makes it a handicap match.

Extreme Horsemen vs. Sandman & “Dr. Death” Steve Williams
Sandman baseball slides Corino. Williams follows him to the floor and they brawl into the ring. CW with a spinebuster on Williams. Triple superkick onto Sandman that always looks so cool. Funk jumps in the ring and hits a stunner on all the Horsemen. Sandman pins Diamond with a senton in 1.50. Joey mentioned during the match that if Williams and Sandman lost they would leave MLW but a victory gets them a title match at Summer Apocalypses. I’m thinking they won’t use the promo that made the match on TV and will edit in some backstage segments since they went 1-1 in the singles matches earlier tonight. Funk and Corino brawl in the aisle after the match.

My thoughts on the show…
No feuds seemed settled tonight; everything looks to be heading in Summer Apocalypse the same. Lynn Homicide was real good but nothing else worth seeing. Lots of stuff was down right bad Criado, Maximos and the Funk match come to mind. Thumbs are down for this.

0

Credit: Sean Ross Sapp

Tonight’s show is from Baltimore, Maryland. Steve Corino and Kevin Kelly are on commentary.

Roderick Strong vs. Papadon

The two adhere to the Code of Honor. Strong cartwheels out of an arm ringer, leaps over Papadon, and rolls him up quickly for two. As soon as the pin is broken, Papadon lands some chops but eats a calf kick from Strong. Roderick follows up with a backbreaker for two. Papadon answers with his own backbreaker for two, and yanks Strong off the ropes as he tries to climb. A big uppercut and a rope assisted DDT from Papadon gets two.

Papadon hits some bad looking kicks, but Strong hits him with a knee, then a suplex/double knee backbreaker for the pin.

Winner: Roderick Strong via pinfall (Suplex/Backbreaker)

We go to commercial.

Hansen vs. Michael Elgin

Elgin takes the mic, but the two go right at it, failing to shoulder block each other. They quickly end up outside where Hansen tosses Elgin into the barricade and lands a big suicide dive. Hansen takes Elgin back in the ring and clubs him in the corner, followed by a big clothesline.

Hansen blocks a clothesline and delivers one of his own. He misses the Spin Kick of Doom, and Elgin counters with a cradle powerbomb. The two trade punches until Elgin boots Hansen in the face. Elgin follows up with a somersault leg drop to the back of Hansen’s head. A big splash from Elgin only gets two.

Elgin and Hansen both end up outside, where Hansen peels up the mats and back body drops Elgin. Hansen grabs a table, and a camera guy jumps on Hansen’s back but is disposed of. Elgin slams a table in Hansen’s face, and drops him through the table with the double-arm DDT. The match is thrown out.

No Contest

Hansen gets back up as we go to commercial.

Caprice Coleman & Will Ferrara vs. Brutal Burgers

Ferrara grabs a cravate on Cheeseburger, but he keeps escaping, finally flipping out of it. He grabs an arm ringer and tags in Bob, who keeps working the arm. Ferrara gets to the rope to escape a Fujiwara armbar, but Bob goes right back to work on it. He tags to Cheeseburger, but Ferrara gets to Coleman, who comes in and assists on a double hip-toss.

Ferrara is tagged back in and suplexes Cheeseburger, who tags Bob. Bob hits an insane crucifix arm breaker and knocks Coleman from the ring, and then shoulder blocks Ferrara. Coleman hits the ring and hits three northern lights suplexes, but Ferrara German suplexes Cheeseburger and gets the pin because he’s the legal man.

Winners: Will Ferrara & Caprice Coleman via pinfall (via German suplex)

After the match Bob pushes Cheeseburger down, but immediately regrets it. They hug right after, but Cheeseburger doesn’t look happy.

No Disqualification Match
Cedric Alexander vs. Tommaso Ciampa

Ciampa and Alexander duel with chairs like swords, then trade big kicks that send Cedric outside. Ciampa goes after him with a trash can, but Alexander hits him and they go inside where Alexander lands a 540 kick that sends Ciampa back outside. Alexander tries to come over the top rope but Ciampa chucks a trash can at his face before the commercial.

Back from the break Ciampa has Alexander’s head wrapped in a chair, and then runs it into the ring post. Ciampa puts a trash can over Alexander and kicks it for a two count. Ciampa goes to get a piece of guardrail but Alexander fights back and rolls him back in the ring. Alexander grabs several chairs and tosses them into the ring.

Alexander buries Ciampa in chairs and then hits him with them repeatedly….for a two count. Alexander makes a table out of the guardrail and chairs and lays Ciampa across it. Ciampa fights off when Alexander goes up top as the crowd chants “please don’t die.” Ciampa superplexes Alexander through it, and they’re both dead. Commercial time.

Back from commercial, and Ciampa is unhinging the apron, but gets caught and Alexander hits him with a big swanton over the top rope to the outside. Alexander scores with a huge frog splash, but still only gets two. After that, he puts a chair on Ciampa and repeats the process…..again only two. Alexander starts to beat down Ciampa, and chokes him with a bungee from the apron. He hangs Ciampa from the buckle and dropkicks him. Gross spot, not even fun to watch.

Somehow Ciampa fights back and hits a brainbuster through a chair for…a two count. They get up and trade shots, which ends in Ciampa landing a big knee and a rope assisted neckbreaker to the exposed wood on the ring for the win.

Winner: Tommaso Ciampa via pinfall (rope assisted neckbreaker on exposed ring)
