Spoilers: TNA Impact Results for 1/23/15

0

Thanks to Trent McSwagsalot for the following TNA Impact Wrestling spoilers from tonight’s show in New York City. These will air two weeks from Friday on Destination America.

* MVP calls out Bobby Lashley and he shows this time. MVP says he got Lashley everything he has. MVP says The BDC (Beat Down Clan) owns the World Heavyweight Title. Lashley says the title is his. Lashley wants nothing to do with this and MVP is offended. They hug but Low Ki attacks and Lashley gets beat down by the group. Ki hits a double stomp to the back and MVP hits him with the belt. As they leave, MVP says the title doesn’t belong to Lashley, it belongs to The BDC. (Note: Our correspondent wasn’t sure if this is the final segment for the 1/16 episode or the opening segment for the 1/23 episode.)

* Havok vs. Gail Kim starts when they brawl on the ramp. The match ends in DQ when Havok shoves the referee. Havok drags Kim back to the ring for more punishment but the lights go out and Awesome Kong is here. Havok attacks but Kong no-sells it. Kong clotheslines Havok over the top rope and her music hits.

* Koya, the former Mahabali Shera from India, defeated Tigre Uno in a squash match. James Storm and The Revolution cut a promo on The Hardys. Apparently it will be Storm vs. Matt Hardy tonight.

* Feast or Fired match is next. British Bootcamp 2 winner Mark Andrews came out and took a seat in the crowd before the match began. The briefcases are on poles and wrestlers in the match are Rockstar Spud, Robbie E, Jessie Godderz, DJ Zema Ion, Crazzy Steve, Sam Shaw, Gunner, Eddie Edwards, Davey Richards, Bram, Magnus and Austin Aries. Spud climbs on top of Shaw to grab the first case. Aries acted like he was going to do a dive but ran to the top rope and grabbed the second case instead. Aries then dives out and retreats to the back. Apparently The Beautiful People got one of the cases, possibly for BroMans?, at the start of the match but nobody noticed. Magnus gets the last case.

* Ethan Carter III comes out with Tyrus. He calls Jeremy Borash to the ring for a match. JB is wearing jeans and a hoodie, and has Spud with him. EC3 talks trash and when JB takes the mic, he attacks EC3. JB had the upperhand until EC3 got pissed. He spit on Spud. Spud attacked but Tyrus took him out. UK star Mark Andrews from British Bootcamp 2 came over the barrier from his seat in the crowd. He hit the ring and helped Spud take out Tyrus and EC3.

* Matt Hardy vs. James Storm is next. Hardy gets the win with a small package. After the match, Storm offers to shake hands but Abyss attacks Hardy from behind. Storm ties Hardy up and Abyss grabs Janice but Jeff Hardy makes the save. He challenges Abyss to a Monster’s Ball match for next week and gets the crowd to chant “Monster’s Ball.”

* Low Ki and Eric Young defeated Kurt Angle and Bobby Roode. MVP and Kenny King distracted the referee, allowing Young to hit Roode with a steel chair. Ki got the pin on Roode.

* Bobby Lashley vs a mystery opponent is next. Lashley comes down without the belt and is upset. He grabs the mic and tells them to bring his title out, now. Kenny King comes out and tells Lashley to go crying to the NYPD “if they don’t choke or shoot” him first. This leads to King vs. Lashley with The BDC surrounding the ring. The whole group enters the ring and attacks Lashley, causing the end of the match. Bobby Roode and Kurt Angle make the save. Angle challenges The BDC to a six sides of steel match at tomorrow night’s tapings.

Chris Benoit Mentioned On WWE Network Show, Vince McMahon Comments

0

– During this week’s episode of the Monday Night War looking back at the fall of WCW, Chris Benoit was mentioned by name. While footage featuring the late wrestler is featured in its original form on the WWE Network, this may be the first time where he was mentioned by name on an original program.

The subject of Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko and Perry Saturn defecting to WWE in 2000 was addressed and a clip of the group debuting on the January 31, 2000 episode of Raw was shown with audio of Jim Ross mentioning all four by name. The accompanying clips, however, were focused on Guerrero, Malenko and Saturn.

Vince McMahon has said in the past that he is okay with acknowledging Benoit within a historical context, but not in a promotional manner.

“It’s not right to pretend he didn’t exist,” McMahon said in a 2009 interview with WWE Magazine when asked whether Benoit’s history can be acknowledged by the company. “It’s one thing to include him as part of a historical perspective, which I believe is okay, and it’s another thing to promote him, which is not okay.

“The situation is very similar to that of O.J. Simpson—despite his controversy, O.J. was still a part of the NFL scene. You can’t deny that he existed.”

Edge Talks His WWE Return, His Angle With Seth Rollins

During his appearance on the debut episode of Taz’s new Human Podcast Machine podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Edge talked about his recent RAW angle with Seth Rollins and John Cena.

Edge said he feels he should only appear maybe once a year so on WWE TV and when he does return, he wants to make sure his appearances help the younger talents. Edge said the idea was pitched for Rollins to tease breaking his neck and he thought it was a great way to get heat for Rollins.

Edge said if there was one part of the segment he did not like, it was being held down by Big Show. He also said the segment probably went too long.

Triple H’s Involvement In Kevin Nash’s Suspension, Jerry Lawler To Miss Raw Again?

Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

– Jerry Lawler was reportedly released from Methodist North Hospital in Memphis on January 5th and is doing a lot better. Lawler had been hospitalized since New Year’s Eve with a case of diverticulitis. As noted, it appears Lawler will be replaced by Booker T on RAW commentary again next week.

– As noted, Kevin Nash has been pulled from the January 19th RAW Reunion show in Dallas and his WWE Legends deal was suspended while the domestic case from Christmas Eve with his son is worked out.

It’s no secret that Nash and Triple H have been good friends for years. It would have been Triple H who made the decision to suspend Nash’s deal and he would have been the one to inform Nash.

News On The TNA Impact Opening Brawl, More Details On Production Issues & Stalling

Source: PWInsider

– There were a lot of production issues with last night’s TNA Impact Wrestling episode, especially with missed shots in the ring. No word on who directed last night’s show but it was not David Sahadi, who had been directing TNA’s shows.

Some of the stalling and issues we noted earlier were due to TNA using the Manhattan Center’s production equipment. There were several technical issues with the equipment. TNA would have been facing major problems if the show didn’t air on a tape delay.

– The opening backstage brawl on last night’s Impact Wrestling was actually filmed on Tuesday evening. The wrestlers kicked off the Impact show by “brawling into the arena.”

Thanks to Amya Reynolds, Graham Matthews of Next Era Wrestling and Trent McSwagsalot for the following TNA Impact Wrestling spoilers from tonight’s show in New York City. These will air tonight on Destination America on a tape delay.

* Taz and Josh Mathews got a good reaction as they came out for commentary. They are actually off to the side of the setup doing commentary.

* They debuted a new opening video that was really good. Jeremy Borash kicked off the show in the ring to get the crowd hype. There’s a buzz in the air but definitely some empty seats.

* A huge brawl with the entire roster starts the show. They fight through the crowd and around the ring. The Knockouts fighting were Havok, Taryn Terrell and Gail Kim. It’s announced that all champions will defend their titles tonight.

* The crowd came unglued when the big brawl was going on. Kurt Angle asks fans if they want more. He resigns as an authority figure and is returning to the ring. He will face MVP in a Street Fight as the first match. Lots of heat for MVP here. Angle won with the Angle Slam in street clothes.

* JB came back out to hype the crowd and it seems like he’s been in the ring forever. There’s some grumbling in the crowd among fans. This was said to be a lot of stalling. One of our correspondents called it “pathetic.” Fans were chanting “we want wrestling” at Borash. Apparently the announcers were supposed to be filming a segment during this break but something went wrong.

* The Wolves vs. James Storm and Abyss for the TNA Tag Team Titles is next. The Hardys come out to watch the match from ringside. The Wolves did their dive through the ropes four times in this match. Storm and Abyss retain their titles when The Hardys get involved. Jeff Hardy accidentally nailed Eddie Edwards, leading to Storm hitting a superkick for the win.

* JB comes back to the ring but Ethan Carter III interrupts. Ethan calls himself the lord and savior of pro wrestling. He calls out Rockstar Spud to settle some unfinished business. Spud comes out crawling as he was beat up by Tyrus, the former Brodus Clay. JB tries to stand up for Spud and smacks Ethan. Tyrus splashes JB in the corner. Ethan then shaves off part of JB’s hair as Tyrus holds Spud back.

* More stalling in the ring.

* Austin Aries vs. Low Ki for the TNA X Division Title is next. Both got big pops when they came out. Aries becomes the new champion after pulling Ki from the top and hitting a brainbuster. This was said to be an excellent match.

* There’s a Knockouts Battle Royal with Taryn Terrell defending against Madison Rayne, Havok, Gail Kim, Rebel, Velvet Sky and Angelina Love. DJ Zema Ion, Jessie Godderz and the returning Robbie E came out and did a promo before the match started. Robbie ends up getting attacked by Brooke Tessmacher after saying he broke up with her in his promo. Taryn retains the Knockouts Title by eliminating Havok and Kim at the same time. Havok beat Taryn down after the match. The lights go out and Awesome Kong returns to a huge pop and confronts Havok. Havok leaves and Kong chokeslams a referee.

* Bobby Lashley vs. Bobby Roode for the World Heavyweight Title is next. Roode sprints to the ring to start. MVP, Kenny King and two masked men come to the ring. They pull the referee out and King hits him. Kurt Angle comes out and brawls with MVP but they lay him out. Roode is surrounded now. The masked guys are revealed to be Low Ki and Samoa Joe. Eric Young comes out for the save but turns heel and hits Roode with a steel chair. The referee comes back in, leading to Lashley making the pin and winning the World Heavyweight Title. The crowd erupts in a big “bulls–t” chant at Lashley….
