0

Date:  January 3rd, 2015
Location:  Tokyo Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan
Announced Attendance:  1,431

So I have decided to go ahead and do 2015 reviews of the big shows.  I know I still have a lot of 2014 reviews to do, but I didn’t want to lose touch with the current product either.  So we dive back into 2015 with the first big All Japan event of the year.  We have three title matches, including Shiozaki challenging for the Triple Crown against Joe Doering.  Here is the full card:

– Yohei Nakajima, Nomura, and Aoyagi vs. Kanemaru, Ultimo Dragon, and Fuchi
– Atsushi Aoki vs. Takao Soma
GAORA TV Championship: KENSO vs. Ryuji Hijikata
– Akebono, Shuji Ishikawa, and Shigehiro Irie vs. Jun Akiyama, Takao Omori and SUSHI
– Shingo Takagi and Zeus vs. Suwama and Hikaru Sato
All Asia Tag Team Championship: Miyahara and Kotaro Suzuki vs. Nagai and Minamino
Triple Crown: Joe Doering vs. Go Shiozaki

This will be a fun change of pace, let’s get to it.

Nakajima, Nomura, and Aoyagi vs. Kanemaru, Ultimo Dragon, and Fuchi

I don’t know who all of these guys are, so not off to a great start for me personally.  I ended up doing more research to know who they were then the match actually took.  Fuchi and Nomura start off and 60 year old Fuchi has his way with the young kid before tagging in Ultimo Dragon.  Ultimo Dragon dropkicks Nomura, but Nomura tags in Aoyagi.  Kanemaru tags in, Aoyagi has some luck with him before tagging in Nakajima.  Ultimo Dragon comes back in as a few minutes into the match nothing of any substance has happened yet.  They flip around for a bit and do some contrived mat wrestling until Ultimo Dragon tags in Kanemaru.  Kanemaru works over Nakajima but Nakajima snaps off a suplex before tagging in Aoyagi.  Kanemaru uppercuts Aoyagi to another planet and gives him a hard elbow.  The old man is tagged in (not Ultimo, the other one) and hits a super delayed bodyslam, which hurts his own back so he tags in Ultimo Dragon.  Ultimo Dragon twists Aoyagi around and tags in Kanemaru who assists in stomping on Aoyagi.  Kanemaru slams Aoyagi, he goes to the apron and hits a slingshot senton for a two count.  Ultimo Dragon comes back in but Aoyagi dropkicks him back and tags in Nakajima.  Nakajima applies an Octopus Hold but Ultimo Dragon gets away, Kanemaru comes back in and kicks Nakajima in the leg before hitting a suplex.  Diving body press by Kanemaru and he flapjacks Nakajima for a two.  Nakajima mans up and hits an enzigieri, Nomura comes in to help and they beat around Kanemaru before tagging in Aoyagi.  Aoyagi dropkicks Kanemaru, Irish whip, and he hits another one.  Aoyagi goes up top and hits another dropkick, and his friends come in to take care of Ultimo Dragon and Fuchi.  Kanemaru has had enough and starts beating up everyone but Aoyagi regains the advantage, Fuchi comes in and he slams Aoyagi.  Fuchi slams Nomura and Nakajima as well.  Crab hold by Kanemaru to Aoyagi, the traditional rookie finisher, but Nakajima breaks it up.  Ultimo Dragon dispatches Nakajima while Kanemaru finishes off Aoyagi, picking up the win the diving body press.  Kanemaru, Ultimo Dragon, and Masanobu Fuchi win the match.  A pretty typical opener, the young guys had no chance at all of beating the veterans but they gave the youngins a few nice spots here and there.  Score:  4.0

Atsushi Aoki vs. Takao Soma

Soma is a DDT wrestler that I think spends as much time in All Japan as he does in DDT.  Aoki tries shoulderblocking Soma but Soma kips up and knocks Aoki out of the ring before kipping up again.  Baseball slide by Soma and he goes up top, hitting a doublestomp to Aoki’s back as he is getting up.  That was a painful looking move for the second match on the card.  Back in the ring and Soma stomps on Aoki before slamming him to the mat.  Aoki regains the advantage, he beats on Soma and throws him out of the ring before slamming Soma into the guard rail multiple times.  Aoki slides Soma back in and stomps on him before hitting a vertical suplex.  Aoki slaps on the crab hold so they can take a breather, Soma gets to the ropes and Aoki stomps on Soma’s back.  Soma goes for a dropkick by Aoki avoids it, but Aoki can’t avoid the second one.  Soma charges in but Aoki moves out of the way and hits a doublestomp followed by a sliding kick.  Soma goes up top and hits a missile dropkick, Soma bounces off the ropes but Aoki hits a dropkick.  Aoki throws Soma in the corner and hits a jumping elbow.  They trade elbows and headbutts, Soma goes up top after flooring Aoki and he hits a diving body press for a two count.  Quick kick by Soma and he gets another two.  Soma picks up Aoki but Aoki wiggles away and drop Soma.  Aoki drops Soma onto his knee and they trade moves, with Aoki getting the best of it with a lariat.  Aoki hits a backdrop suplex and he puts Soma in a Texas Cloverleaf, picking up the submission victory.  Atsushi Aoki is your winner.  A meh match for me, Soma doesn’t do much for me and Aoki needs the right opponent to really excel.  The action was crisp, just not overly interesting.  Score:  4.5

(c) KENSO vs. Ryuji Hijikata

This is for the GAORA TV Championship.  KENSO is just awful but he knows he is awful, so does that make him good because he understands his limitations?  Just trying to use the logic people use to excuse the existence of Big Show.  Hijikata takes it to KENSO to start things out and throws him out of the ring, but KENSO smartly runs away.  Hijikata catches up with him and beats KENSO around the ring, but KENSO is in his element and turns the tables.  KENSO throws Hijikata back in the ring after a bit and slaps him.  They both trade slaps, KENSO goes for a boot but Hijikata slaps him.  High kick by Hijikata in the corner and hits a vertical suplex before kicking Hijikata in the back.  Hijikata dropkicks KENSO in the knee and hits a Shining Wizard modification for a two count.  Hijikata charges KENSO but KENSO hits a lariat.  KENSO goes up top but Hijikata kicks KENSO in the head and hits a superplex.  Suplex, but KENSO kicks out of the pin attempt.  KENSO throws the referee in front of him so that Hijikata hits him, kicks by Hijikata but KENSO chokes him with his feathery belt.  Brainbuster by KENSO as the referee magically revives and counts the two count.  Hagakure by KENSO and he finishes off Hijikata with a diving elbow drop for the three count.  KENSO is still the champion.  The issue I have with ‘ol KENSO is half the match was wasted on outside the ring brawling that any child or rookie could do.  It is just unimaginative.  I liked the conclusive ending though, he killed Hijikata dead with that Hagakure.  Score:  3.5

Akebono, Shuji Ishikawa, and Irie vs. Jun Akiyama, Omori, and SUSHI

This is a good example of a match I really don’t want to do play by play of.  I will watch it for you though.  Omori and Akebono are the first pairing, Omori learns he can’t knock down Akebono to everyone’s amazement, and Akebono shoulderblocks him to the mat.  Omori still tries to shoulderblock Akebono over (not a great game plan), he can’t still, so he gives up and tags in little SUSHI.  Akebono immediately levels SUSHI and drops a 700 pound elbow drop on his chest.  Ishikawa is tagged in, he beats up SUSHI a bit and tags in Irie.  Irie does the same until SUSHI hits a heel kick and tags in Akiyama.  I watched some Archer while Akiyama beat down Irie for a few minutes, and Akiyama tags in Omori.  Omori applies rest holds and drops elbows onto Irie.  Omori tags Akiyama back in and Akiyama knees Irie in the corner.  Headbutts by Irie but Akiyama gets the better of it and tags in SUSHI, this should go well.  Everyone attacks Irie in the corner and SUSHI hits a bunch of elbow drops.  SUSHI surprisingly keeps things in control and tags Akiyama back in.  Irie is thrown in the corner and everyone lariats Irie before Akiyama hits a running knee.  Irie snaps off a suplex on Akiyama and tags in Ishikawa.  Ishikawa lariats Akiyama in the corner before hitting a doublestomp.  Akiyama and Ishikawa trade elbows, but Akiyama escapes Ishikawa and tags in Omori.  Heel kick by Omori and he tries to lariat Ishikawa but Ishikawa doesn’t go down.  Omori has had no luck in this match knocking people over.  Knee by Ishikawa and he tags in Akebono.  Akebono hits a body press but Akiyama breaks it up. SUSHI is tagged in and tries to lariat Akebono, horrible idea, it doesn’t work.  Jawbreaker by SUSHI and he hits a superkick.  Another superkick, Akebono is still up.  Body press by Akebono to SUSHI but it gets a two count.  Chokeslam by Akebono and he hits an elbow drop.  Kawazu Otoshi by Akebono and he gets three.  Akebono and company win the match.  I don’t understand why wrestlers are obsessed with hitting Akebono in the chest to knock him over, it’s the stupidest tactic, go for the legs.  Some ok action here and there but the beatdown segments were a bit dull.  Score: 3.5

Shingo Takagi and Zeus vs. Suwama and Hikaru Sato

Suwama and Takagi start things off and they do some trading submissions holds.  They lock knuckles, Irish whip by Suwama but Takagi can’t shoulderblock him down.  He tries again with no luck, but Suwama can’t do it either.  Takagi tags in Zeus so Suwama tags in Sato.  Zeus follows Sato around the ring, waistlock by Sato but Zeus applies a wristlock.  Side headlock by Zeus and he shoulderblocks Sato.  Zeus throws Sato out of the ring and throws him into the railing.  Takagi helps before sliding Sato back in, and Zeus covers for a two count.  Zeus tags in Takagi and Takagi drops a knee on Sato for a two count.  Takagi tags in Zeus and Zeus slams Sato to the mat.  Another slam by Zeus, Takagi comes in and they both shoulderblock Sato.  Chokeslam/backdrop suplex combination to Sato, cover but Suwama finally comes in the ring and breaks it up.  I don’t think Suwama actually likes Sato, he isn’t being particularly helpful.  Scorpion Deathlock by Takagi but Sato gets to the ropes.  Takagi throws Sato around but finally Sato moves away from Takagi and kicks him in the head.  Sato makes the hottest of tags to Suwama, Suwama knocks down Takagi and covers him for a two.  Irish whip by Suwama and he hits a lariat.  Suwama toys with Takagi, Takagi tries to hit a lariat but Suwama applies a side headlock.  Takagi snaps off a backdrop suplex and he tags in Zeus.  Body avalanche by Zeus in the corner and he hits a second one.  Bearhug suplex by Zeus to Suwama but it gets a two count.  Zeus and Suwama trade elbows but Suwama hits a capture suplex.  Suwama tags in Sato and Sato kicks Zeus into the corner.  Sato tries to pick up Zeus but Zeus blocks it, Sato picks up Zeus and slams him to the mat.  Sato applies a cross armbreaker but Zeus quickly gets a foot on the ropes.  Sato elbows Zeus in the corner and Suwama hits a lariat.  German suplex by Suwama to Zeus and Sato hits a PK.  Cover by Sato but it gets a two count.  Sato slaps on a cross armbreaker, but Zeus powerbombs out of it.  Lariat by Zeus and he covers Sato, but Suwama breaks it up.  Takagi comes in and trades shots with Suwama.  They get out of the ring and Zeus chokeslams Sato.  Zeus picks up Sato and he hits the Jackhammer for the three count victory.  Shingo Takagi and Zeus are your winners.  Better than the last couple matches, Zeus is a brute that works best in small doses and Suwama is ace.  I don’t understand why he would want to tag with Sato but that is one of the Puroresu mysteries, great wrestlers tagging with low ranked ones.  Still a very solid affair.  Score:  6.5

(c) Kento Miyahara and Kotaro Suzuki vs. Mitsuya Nagai and Minamino

This match is for the All Asia Tag Team Championship.  They brawl outside of the ring before they even get started, with Dark Kingdom having the clear advantage.  Minamino returns to the ring with Suzuki, Irish whip by Minamino but Suzuki hits a spinning backbreaker and tags in Miyahara.  Miyahara punches Minamino in the corner and tags Suzuki back in, Suzuki goes off the ropes but Nagai pulls him out of the ring and throws Suzuki into the railing.  Nagai takes Suzuki up in the crowd and throws him around.  Nagai eventually slides Suzuki back into the ring, Minamino picks up Suzuki, Irish whip, and Minamino hits a back elbow.  Cover by Minamino but it gets two.  Minamino tags in Nagai, double Irish whip and Suzuki eats a double shoulderblock.  Texas Cloverleaf by Nagai but Miyahara breaks it up.  Nagai tags in Minamino, he puts Suzuki up in the tree of woe and stomps on his stomach while Nagai chokes him with a chair.  Vertical suplex by Minamino and he tags in Nagai.  Suzuki gets away from Nagai and hits a suplex, giving him a change to tag in Miyahara.  Nagai and Miyahara trade elbows, Minamino attacks Miyahara from the apron but Miyahara has had enough and knocks him to the floor before dropping him on the guard rail.  That should stop him from interfering for a bit.  Back in the ring Nagai knocks back Miyahara but Miyahara sets him up in the corner and knees him in the stomach.  Big boot by Minamino, cover, but it gets a two count.  Nagai catches the next boot attempt and hits a capture suplex.

Nagai tags in Minamino, punches by Minamino and he kicks Miyahara low.  They trade waistlocks but Miyahara boots Minamino and tags in Suzuki.  Handspring elbow strike by Suzuki but Minamino manages to hit another low blow and tags in Nagai.  Suzuki is thrown into the corner and is hit by a pair of strikes, falcon arrow by Nagai and Minamino hits a doublestomp.  Cover by Nagai but Miyahara breaks it up.  Miyahara rights off Minamino but Nagai kicks him to the mat.  Tiger Feint Kick by Suzuki to Nagai and Nagai is planted with a side slam/neckbreaker combo.  Minamino comes in the ring so Miyahara takes care of him and they battle around the ring.  In the ring Suzuki goes off the ropes but Minamino moves, allowing Suzuki to get hit from the apron.  KENSO gets in the ring and he slaps around Suzuki and hits a brainbuster.  Nagai charges Suzuki but Suzuki moves, then Miyahara runs in and boots Nagai.  German suplex by Miyahara, elbows by Suzuki and he covers Nagai for a two count.  Suzuki picks up Nagai but KENSO comes back in the ring and throws powder in his face.  Irish whip by KENSO and he hits Suzuki with a belt.  Suzuki is then popped with a chair right in the head, after KENSO is done Nagai and Minamino return to the ring and Nagai hits a Hyper Knee Kuga.  Cover and Dark Kingdom are the new champions!  I don’t like title matches that end in shenanigans.  I don’t mind the interference,  but ending the match like that while the doofus referee is clueless is just ridiculous.  I’m not a happy panda, even though the action throughout the match was perfectly entertaining.  Score:  5.0

(c) Joe Doering vs. Go Shiozaki

This match is for All Japan Triple Crown.  After the standard opening match strike exchange, Doering wins with a hard shoulderblock.  They lock knuckles and Doering knocks Shiozaki to the mat.  Doering chops the hell out of Shiozaki but Shiozaki chops him back.  Doering wins the battle and Shiozaki rolls out of the ring, but Doering goes out after him and slides Shiozaki back into the ring.  Elbow drop by Doering and he headbutts Shiozaki into the corner.  Shiozaki kicks back Doering but Doering chops him again.  Doering goes for a suplex but Shiozaki blocks it.  Shiozaki hits his own vertical suplex but Doering kicks back Shiozaki.  Chop by Shiozaki but Doering chops him back and they get into it again.  Backdrop suplex by Shiozaki and he kicks Doering for a two count.  Fisherman buster by Shiozaki but Doering gets a shoulder up in a surprisingly close near fall this early in a title match.  Chops by Shiozaki but Doering hits a pair of lariats followed by an elbow drop for a two count.  Delayed vertical suplex by Doering, but he gets another two.  DDT by Shiozaki but Doering gets back up, so Shiozaki hits another one.  Hard lariat by Shiozaki and that finally gets Doering on the mat.  Doering doesn’t look too good.  He slowly gets up but Shiozaki rocks him with another lariat.  I am loving Doering’s selling, that or he is genuinely knocked loopy.  Doering rolls out to re-group but Shiozaki sails out onto him with a plancha suicida as both wrestlers land back into the guard rail.  Shiozaki pushes the dead weight back in the ring and chops Doering in the corner.  Shiozaki puts Doering up on the top turnbuckle and he hits a Frankensteiner for a two count.  Vertical suplex into a sitout slam by Shiozaki but it gets two, he goes for a Limit Break but Doering pushes him away.

Lariat to the back of the head by Shiozaki but Doering catches him with a spinebuster.  They trade strikes and Doering hits a high speed crossbody for a two count.  Doering goes for a Revolution Bomb but Shiozaki reverses it into a DDT.  Hard lariat by Shiozaki but it gets two.  Go Flasher by Shiozaki, but Doering gets a shoulder up.  Shiozaki puts Doering up on the top turnbuckle, he grabs him in a Burning Hammer position and drops him with the debut of the BURNING FLASHER!!!  But it only gets a two count because who needs big flashy new finishers anyway.  THIS IS WHY WE CAN’T HAVE NICE THINGS.  Shiozaki lariats Doering but Doering lariats him back as now he is recovered, and he hits a crossbody for a two count.  Doering picks up Shiozaki and goes for the Revolution Bomb but Shiozaki lands on top of him for two.  Superkick by Shiozaki but Doering hits a lariat.  They trade lariats and both fall to the mat as I still sit here annoyed that Shiozaki debuted a new move that would look better on a smaller wrestler that was just a mid-match near fall.  Rolling chop by Shiozaki and he hits a few more, lariat by Shiozaki but Doering stays up.  One final lariat by Shiozaki and he picks up the three count, crowning him the new All Japan Triple Crown Champion.  I’ll complain about it one more time and get over it – I like wrestlers that have super finishers.  I think it builds intrigue to big matches like this.  And I love that Puroresu wrestlers just make up moves all the time, keeps things exciting.  So I didn’t like the new whatever move already being killed as just another move.  Once I get emotionally past that, this was a great match.  So hard hitting, I dunno if Doering was selling or not but he really did look out of it a few times.  It felt like an epic title fight from start to finish and I love big heavyweights just taking turns at each other.  Few little issues here and there but overall so much fun.  Score:  8.0

Final Thoughts:

A nothing card with a sublime main event.  That is All Japan in a nutshell for me, I just find their mid card dull as hell.  They have a handful of wrestlers that can really bring it but not enough to fill up seven matches so really you just spend your time waiting for the last few matches.  Dark Kingdom winning the title 99% with shenanigans sucked, cheating during a match is cool but having it completely lead to a title change is not what I ever want to see.  Great Triple Crown match though.  Watch the last match, skip the rest.

World: Sandman
TV: Shane Douglas
Tag Team: Gangstas

European Junior Heavyweight Champion Mikey Whipwreck vs. Dirt Bike Kid, ref John “Pee Wee” Moore
The rarely defended European Title. Kid attacks before the bell and goes to work on the arm. Mikey ducks a clothesline and hits a drop kick that sends Kid to the floor. Mikey with a plancha to follow. Kid throws Mikey into the guardrail and then back into the ring. Kid comes in with a cross body off the top rope and goes back to the arm. Kid throws Mikey out of the ring and then goes for a springboard body block but totally misses and slams his face on the floor. Mikey still sells it though and goes down. Middle rope leg drop by the Kid gets 2. Mikey with an atomic drop but Kid comes back with a rana. Kid goes up top and hits a moonsault for 2. Kid climbs back up top but Mikey kicks his feet out. Mikey climbs up top hits a super rana and gets the win in 7.21. As Mikey walks down the aisle we see that he has a giant bump on his forehead not sure where that came from.

Spike Dudley vs. Chris Candido, ref Jim Molineaux
Candido grabs the mic before the match. Candido talks about leaving the WWF to come to ECW. He says he didn’t come back to have the assholes in the crowd cheer for him. “Skip is dead but he left me all his money” haha. Candido out wrestles Spike to start but slaps him and pisses him off. Spike with a rana and drop kick. Candido goes to the floor and Spike jumps off the apron onto him. Back in ring Spike goes for another rana but this time Candido counters with a power bomb. Slingshot belly to back suplex followed but a gut wrench power bomb gets 2. Spike gets sent into the corner a few times. The last time he puts on the breaks and comes back at Candido with a drop kick followed by a head scissors. Spike grabs Candido and runs up the buckle and lands a tornado bulldog. He goes up top but Candido knocks him down and follows to hit a super bomb for the win in 5.27.

Rob Van Dam vs. David Morton Tyler Jericho, ref John Finnegan
Van Dam hits a kick combo that for once doesn’t look like shit. Lots of back and forth mat work in the early minutes. Van Dam goes for a leap from but Morton doesn’t get under him enough and Van Dam leads the you fucked up chant. Irish whip and Van Dam throws Morton up into the air and he comes crashing down. He tries it again but Morton hits a rana on his way down. Van Dam bails to the floor and Morton follows with a baseball slide. Van Dam is sent into the crowd from it. Morton follows with a body block off the top into the crowd. Morton with a springboard leg drop back into the ring for 2. Morton his a drop kick in the corner but when he goes for another charge Van Dam hits him with an elbow. Morton comes back with a low blow and then hits the bossman guillotine thing. He attempts it again but Van Dam moves and Morton goes throw the ropes crashing to the floor. Van Dam comes off the top rope with a somersault dive to the floor! Back in the ring Van Dam comes off the top rope with a kick. Rolling thunder leg drop and then Van Dam gets a chair. Van Dam puts Morton hanging off the apron and puts a chair on his face. Van Dam leaps over the top rope to the outside of the ring with a leg drop to the chair. Morton is crumbled in the corner and Van Dam charges with the chair and drop kicks it into Morton. Another leg drop on the chair gets 2. Van Dam goes to throw Morton onto the chair but Morton DDTs him onto it instead. Tilt a whirl head scissor as Morton tries to make a comeback. Another rana gets 2. Morton gets the chair and nails Van Dam with it twice. He goes for it a third time but has the chair kicked into his face. Split legged moonsault onto the chair gets Van Dam the victory in 12.59.

Axl Rotten & Bad Crew vs. Hack Meyers, Rick Rage & Devon Storm, ref John “Pee Wee” Moore
Oh no this is going to be bad. Axl starts with Hack but then tags out before making any contact. Bad Crew guy takes over on Hack right away but not for long. The other member of Bad Crew tags in and hits a suplex. Another tag but Hack hits a double clothesline on Bad Crew. Axl comes in with a chair and nails Hack. Storm and Rage come in and get hit also. Axl then turns on his partners and nails them with the chair. Axl goes to nail Hack again but he ducks and Hack gets the chair and hits Axl. D-Von Dudley comes out to distract Hack. Axl nails Hack with a chair and pins him getting the win for his team in 3.03. Axl gets on the mic after the match and runs down Hack. Hack gets up though and attacks but D-Von gets in and they double team Hack.

D-Von Dudley (w/ Axl Rotten) vs. Buh Buh Ray Dudley (w/ Sign Guy Dudley), ref Jim Molineaux
D-Von gets the mic before the match and talks shit. Buh Buh comes out charging. They go right after each other. D-Von with a belly to back and diving headbutt. Buh Buh fights back and hits a cutter for 2. Buh Buh with a flying shoulder block and D-Von goes to the floor. Buh Buh follows and they fight on the floor. Of course a chair comes into play. Back in the ring Buh Buh with a bossman slam for 2. Buh Buh goes for a bomb but D-Von slips behind and hits a reverse DDT on the chair and gets the win in 5.32. Axl and D-Von attack after the match. Joel Gertner comes down and makes the announcement of the winner. Spike Dudley tries to make the save. Tag Team Champion New Jack shows up to make the save. Buh Buh power bombs Gertner. New Jack says some stuff on the mic afterwards about the 3 way title match tomorrow night.

F.B.I vs. The Eliminators, ref John “Pee Wee” Moore
Little Guido and Saturn start off. Guido with the early advantage hits a side slam and uses his speed advantage to maintain control. Saturn though quickly comes back with a power slam and both teams tag. Kronus hits a stiff kick on JT Smith and follows with a handspring back elbow in the corner. He goes for another one but Smith comes out of the corner with a clothesline to the back of the head. A few tags by the F.B.I. but their advantage ends when Kronus catches a spin kick and hits a belly to back on Smith. Saturn tags in and they give a couple of kicks to both members of the F.B.I. The Eliminators hit body slams followed by spring board moonsaults. They then stand Guido and Smith right next to each other and hit total elimination on then at the same time to get the win in 4.07. Smith falls out of the ring knocking over the camera man as the fans all laugh at him. HAHA.

ECW TV Champion “The Franchise” Shane Douglas (w/ Francine & Brian Lee) vs. Louie Spicolli, ref Jim Molineaux
These two have had two matches with each other recently one of which was pretty good. A chant of “She’s got herpes” starts up before the opening bell. Spicolli gets on the mic and tells Shane once the bell rings and Francine and Lee are gone it’s just them one on one. Taz and Bill Alfonso interrupt the introductions. Taz gets on a mic and discusses the Paul Heyman promo from TV last week. Taz says tomorrow night Sabu won’t have a choice but to confront Taz. Taz is going to expose Sabu for the pussy that he is. Taz and Spicolli get face to face. Shane jumps Spicolli. Shane with the advantage hitting a suplex. Spicolli comes back with a few slams. Shane however takes back over with a swinging neck breaker. Shane throws Spicolli to the floor where Lee works him over. Gut wrench suplex by Shane, Spicolli mounts a comeback but is cut off by Shane. Missile drop-kick gets 2. Louie fights back and hits a spine buster and both men are down. Northern lights by Louie nearly gets a 3 count. Louie hits a high back body drop then knocked Lee off the apron. Belly to belly but then Francine jumps in the ring and hits Louie with her shoe. Louie grabs her kisses her then lifts her up for a DVD. Shane saves her but he goes up for a DVD. Lee makes the save by going for a choke slam but Louie blocks it and finally hits the DVD as the fans go wild. Louie turns into a single arm DDT and gets pinned in 8.29. Crowd got HOT for the finish. Good match with a nice finish. Also “Perfect Strangers” is like the best song ever.

Raven & Stevie Richards (w/ Tyler & Lori Fullington, Super Nova & Blue Meanie) vs. World Champion Sandman & Tommy Dreamer, ref John Finnegan
Richards gets on the mic but Sandman spits beer in his as he begins to talk. Dreamer then spits soda on Meanie and Nova. Between this and the entrances its been like three hours. Crowd will not let Stevie get out a word with out yelling at him. Richards says this will basically be a handicap match because he won’t even have to tag Raven. Richards and Dreamer start off. Oh come on! Dreamer grabs the mic before any wrestling happens. Finally the begin. Dreamer with a russian leg sweep they then go to the floor for a quick little brawl. Back in Dreamer with a suplex and he nails Richards with a telephone. Sandman tags in and beats on Richards a bit until he gets a chair super kicked into his face. Raven tags in and goes to work on Sandman. Richards tags in hits a rocker dropper then goes for a drive by. Sandman moves and tags Dreamer. Raven comes in and they all fight ref gets super kick. Dreamer hits a drop kick on Richards but turns into a DDT Raven covers but no ref. Dreamer now hits a DDT but still no ref. Everyone jumps on Dreamer. Raven leg drops him on a table but it doesn’t break. Stevie jumps off the apron to try to put him through but again it doesn’t work. Finally Raven with a slingshot elbow drop and it finally breaks. Pile driver on Dreamer gets 2. Raven and Richards work over Dreamer for a bit. Sandman finally tags in and all hell breaks loose. Raven uses Tyler to distract Sandman. Lori canes Sandman from behind Raven hits a DDT for 2. Dreamer DDTs Raven. Stevie with a super kick on Dreamer. Sandman covers Raven for the 3 count in 14.04.

Sabu vs. 2 Cold Scorpio, ref Jim Molineaux
This is billed as their final battle. They fight for control and then Scorpio hits a neck breaker. Sabu with a tilt a whirl head scissor and Scorpio goes to the floor to get away. Scorpio takes over and throws Sabu out of the ring. He crotches him on the guardrail. Suplex back into the ring. Top rope moonsault from Scorpio to a standing Sabu. Superplex by Scorpio gets a 2 count as we cross the 7 minute mark. Sabu ducks a clothesline and hits a leg lariat. Sabu puts Scorpio on a table and goes for a slingshot leg drop to the floor. Scorpio moves and Sabu crashes through the table. Scorpio hits Sabu with a chair and then they head back into the ring. Scorpio with a bulldog onto the chair. DDT on the chair by Sabu and an arabian face buster for 2. Scorpio comes back with a super kick. He puts Sabu on the apron and plans to send him through a table but Sabu slingshots himself back into the ring drop kicking Scorpio in the process. They both go up top and Sabu hits a sunset flip power bomb. Sabu sits Scorpio on the top and tries to run up a chair but Scorp comes off with a clothesline. Scorpio gets sent into the buckle but stops himself and comes off the second rope with a sunset flip. Sabu goes to the floor Scorpio follows with a clothesline off the apron. Back in the ring Sabu throws a chair into Scorpio’s head. Sabu with a super rana for a 2 count. Triple jump moonsault but Scorpio moves. Scorpio comes off the top with a splash for 2. Scorpio now with a super victory roll that almost gets him the win. He goes back up top but Sabu cuts him off. Scorpio however with a super front suplex but then he misses a splash from the top. Sabu leaps off the second turnbuckle with a DDT for another close 3 count. Scorpio comes back with a super kick for 2. Moonsault misses. Sabu with a triple jump tornado DDT. That looked awesome. Some confusion here as the ref stops counting but Scorpio clearly doesn’t kick out. The ref starts counting again and again stops counting even though Scorpio doesn’t kick out. Scorpio hits a German for 3 even though Sabu rolls his shoulder up. Sabu then gets announced as the winner. Sabu and Scorpio are mad so they beat the shit out of the ref. HAHA. They plan on putting him through a table but it falls apart when they put him on it. Well bell to bell it was 17.36. Sabu and Scorpio shake hands and hug after the match. Scorpio gets on the mic and runs down fans and says he’s going to the WWF to make his money.

My thoughts on the show…
I enjoyed the Candido match I love his super bomb it always looks so awesome. Douglas and Spicolli had a nice match and like I mentioned an exciting finish. Sabu/Scorpio was a little slower paced then normal but a nice final match between two guys that have had some good battles in the past.

There were people shocked that Bray Wyatt defeated Dean Ambrose clean in their Ambulance Match on last Monday’s WWE RAW.
It’s possible that Ambrose turns heel in the near future or WWE just isn’t focused on protecting him right now.

We’ve noted how officials wanted to keep Wyatt looking strong in case The Undertaker decides to perform at WrestleMania 31. There was a feeling after Wyatt’s RAW win that it could be a sign the company believes Taker is coming back.

CM Punk And MMA Coach Talk About His Progress

0

As noted earlier, CM Punk completed his first week of MMA training at Roufusport, and his coach Duke Roufus joined him on Inside MMA Friday night to talk about the former WWE champion’s progress. Video of their appearance is above.

“I like watching everybody spar, everybody move. It’s been a real learning experience for me, but fun for me too.” Punk said of his first week. Punk said that the appeal of quality and convenience led him to picking the gym.

“I met Punk two years in Chicago, we’ve been friendly since then and I knew about his intentions to get into the sport so it wasn’t a surprise to me,” Roufus said of Punk. “A guy with his magnitude in WWE, I’m really excited to see him come into the UFC.”

Roufus said that Punk is doing good, and has shown up with a great work ethic, attitude and learning ability. Roufus said Punk’s open mind has impressed him and helped him learn.

CM Punk said that no opponent has been determined, and he’s in no rush for it so quickly after his first week of training. He said he’s calling himself out more than he’s calling anyone else out.

During tonight’s TNA Lockdown tapings in New York City, Jeff Hardy took a very bad bump from the cage and apparently was knocked out backstage after the match.

Hardy was knocked from the top of the cage door to the steel steps outside of the cage. He finished the rest of the match but was helped to the back by officials. A fan in attendance noted that crew members and Jeremy Borash were overheard saying Hardy was knocked out backstage.

Below is a tweet from Tommy Dreamer, who worked the tapings, and fan video of the bump:

I’ve seen @JEFFHARDYBRAND take some ridiculous bumps. 1st time ever I’m concerned for his health & this is coming from me.

Thanks to Tano Rodriguez and Eric Castro and Mike Bessler for the following WWE SmackDown spoilers from tonight’s tapings in Laredo, Texas:

Tonight’s episode starts with a recap of “John Cena Appreciation Night” on Raw, including the return of The Authority and the announcement that Seth Rollins will join the bout between Cena and Lesnar for the title. Then we head into the venue for tonight’s show. Seth Rollins hits the ramp to get things started.

Flanked by J & J Security, Rollins laughs about Cena getting screwed over on Monday Night Raw and they re-rack the footage from the show’s final moments. Rollins rattles off the names of the trio that were fired and the crowd pops for each guy. He hypes the fact that the title match at Royal Rumble is now a triple threat and the crowd boos. Rollins has the guys at ringside toll the bell for Ryback, Ziggler and Rowan and the sarcastic salute is cut short by the arrival of Roman Reigns.

Reigns steps into the ring with a mic and facetiously apologizes for interrupting. He says that Seth is full of both “something else” and “suffering succotash.” Then he commences to totally whaling on Rollins. J & J can’t muster a defense for their crony and Reigns belts Seth so hard he hits the floor.

From the ramp, Rollins rants and Kane emerges to book Reigns into a match for the main event. It’ll be Seth Rollins and Big Show versus Roman Reigns and a partner of his choice. Kane says that anyone who partners up with Reigns will be subject to discipline by The Authority. Big Show yells a whole bunch to round out the segment.

Backstage, The New Day are heading to the ring. Commercial sign.

After the break, Corporate Kane assures some unnamed individual or individuals via phone that he has everything under control. Miz and Mizdow come in to kiss up to Kane and lobby for a tag match against The Usos. Kane isn’t having it after Mizdow accidentally spills water all over The Big Red Monster. There will be a triple-threat match for the titles later tonight. Back to the ring…

Big E. vs. Adam Rose
Continuing with a budding feud, the other members of The New Day are at ringside and Cesaro and Tyson Kidd are in the corner of Adam Rose. Rose gets the jump on Big E pretty quickly and stays on top of him with some mat grappling. Big E puts Rose down with a big clothesline and follows with a splash off the ropes. Rose escapes a power slam and follows with an enzugiri and DDT, earning a near-fall. Big E catches Rose with “The Big Ending” and covers for the win.
Result: Big E. defeats Adam Rose via pinfall

More commercials roll and then The Ascension heads out to the ring for a tag match. First a promo… They work the Road Warriors in from the start and say that the legendary team couldn’t even carry their shoulder pads. Cole notes the uproar that their previous promo caused earlier in the week.

A quick squash match ensues against an unnamed team. The Ascension gets the win in short order.

Backstage, the Usos are all fired up for their upcoming tag match.

* The Ascension cut a promo in the ring and squashed two local wrestlers.

* Alicia Fox defeated Naomi with her foot on the rope.

* The Usos defeated Goldust & Stardust and The Miz & Damien Sandow in a Triple Threat to retain their titles. Goldust got pinned.

* Sin Cara defeated Bad News Barrett clean in a non-title match. Barrett hit him with the Bullhammer after the match.

* Seth Rollins and Big Show vs. Roman Reigns and a partner is the main event. Nobody comes out for Reigns at first but finally the music of Dean Ambrose hits and out he comes. Ambrose and Reigns win when Reigns spears Rollins. This was the end of SmackDown.
