Updated: Widow Of Viscera/King Mabel Files Lawsuit Against WWE Over His Death

0

Source: PWInsider

Cassandra Frazier, the widow of former WWE Superstar Nelson Frazier Jr. (Viscera, Big Daddy V) filed a lawsuit against WWE on February 18th in Memphis, Tennessee.

The lawsuit lifts Cassandra and Nelson as plaintiffs and alleges that he passed away due to the cumulative effect of punishment he took in the ring, including concussions and brain trauma.

The lawsuit was brought to light by Irv Muchnick of the Concussion Inc. website. The full 124 page lawsuit can be seen at this link via PDF. It mentions Chris Benoit’s death and references CM Punk’s comments from Colt Cabana’s podcast where he called WWE’s concussion policies “BS.”

Cassandra alleges that Frazier died as a result of injuries he suffered as a result of working for WWE. She alleges that WWE’s wrongful conduct gave rise to the long-term consequences of multiple concussions and other “serious, permanent, and disabling injuries” during Nelson’s career with WWE. Cassandra is accusing WWE of holding back on important medical information and research, and misinforming Nelson and other WWE talents about the risks of working for the company.

The lawsuit says Nelson had large knots on his head due to the scar tissue on his skull forming into permanent lumps and he had evidenced indentations to his skull. It adds that Frazier had severe symptoms of neurological injuries and other physical trauma before he passed away, including severe migraines that he sought medical attention for. The suit also says Frazier suffered from severe depression, something else he sought medical attention for. The suit continues, “Frazier had sustained serious longterm brain damage from his WWE career. Frazier’s broken spirit and body left him virtually penniless, and he was forced to pay cash for medical services in the months before his death.”

Cassandra has made 9 claims against WWE including negligence, negligent misrepresentation, intentional misrepresentation, fraudulent concealment, vicarious liability, fraud by omission or failure to warn, punitive damages, wrongful death and loss of consortium by herself

As of this morning, WWE had not been served with the lawsuit. They likely will be releasing a statement today and we’ll keep you updated.

Abdullah The Butcher Looking To Sell WWE Hall Of Fame Ring

1

Veteran independent wrestler Diafullah Dobashi, a close friend and protégée of WWE Hall of Famer Abdullah the Butcher, opened the most recent episode of his podcast “Dobashi’s Radio Takedown” with the announcement that Abdullah is interested in selling his Hall of Fame Ring. Abdullah, whose real name is Larry Shreve, was inducted in 2011.

“The legendary WWE Hall of Famer Abdullah the Butcher,” Dobashi began. “His WWE Hall of Fame Ring is up for sale to the highest bidder. If you’re interested, e-mail me.”

Abdullah has experienced a number of health problems and is reportedly in need of hip replacement surgery.

The aging grappler has drawn criticism regarding a number of issues over the course of recent years, including his repeated assertions that he was not responsible for a fellow grappler’s affliction with hepatitis C—despite a Canadian court’s finding to the contrary.

In 2013, Superstar Billy Graham publically asked that WWE remove his name from the Hall of Fame because he did not want to be listed with the likes of Abdullah the Butcher. He cited allegations over Abdullah’s reckless behavior in the ring as the basis for his objections over Abdullah’s induction.

“WWE, with its powerful influence on our vulnerable youth in these increasingly immoral times, should be strongly condemning life-threatening gimmicks in the ring, not rewarding them, and Larry Shreve needs to take stock of his actions and the tragic effects they have had on others. The world of pro wrestling is a rough and tough one, and none of us has a lily-white record when it comes to personal behavior. But carelessly spreading a deadly disease in the name of ‘entertainment’ is beyond a joke. So hopefully now you will all have a better understanding of exactly why I asked WWE to remove my name from the WWE Hall of Fame list when Abdullah was inducted two years ago.”

Mil Muertes (w/ Catrina) vs. Chavo Guerrero Jr.

This one doesn’t last long as Chavo panics and hits Muertes with a chair.

Winner: Mil Muertes via DQ

Muertes lays out Chavo, hitting a Flatliner on the chair. Muertes goes after Catrina, who has been doing things behind his back. Fenix makes the save and kisses Catrina.

– Dario Cueto is in his office talking to The Crew. He said he’s rewarding them with a main event spot for taking out Big Ryck. He said they have to prove they belong there to stay there.

– Son of Havoc and Ivelisse are coming out. She says that because Havoc can’t win (he hasn’t won any matches yet) she’ll fight his battles for him.

Ivelisse (w/ Son of Havoc) vs. Angelico

Angelico drop toe holds Ivelisse, who throws some good looking round kicks but gets tied up. She answers with a knee, but Angelico isn’t taking this seriously at all. She changes his mind with a huge kick to the chest.

Angelico hits a huge flapjack, but Son of Havoc kicks him in the head and allows Ivelisse to roll him up for the win. After the match Ivelisse doesn’t want anything to do with Havoc.

Winner: Ivelisse via pinfall

We go to a commercial break. We come back and see an interview highlighting Texano, who attacked Alberto El Patron last week.

Super Fly vs. Texano Jr

The two square off after a quick series of reversals that don’t see anyone gain an advantage. Texano fires off a leg lariat and a fireman’s carry neckbreaker for the win.

Winner: Texano via pinfall (neckbreaker)

Alberto El Patron comes to the ring and attacks Texano as the crowd goes crazy. Alberto gets Texano’s rope and beats him with it until security breaks it up. Matt Striker teases that the AAA title may be defended in Lucha Underground.

The Crew vs. Sexy Star, Pimpinela Escarlata & Mascarita Sagrada

Pimpinela is taken out early, leaving Sagrada and Star to do the heavy lifting. Sagrada gets a little bit of offense but eats a disgusting apron powerbomb. Star is pushed into the corner, where the Crew repeatedly kicks her.

Sagrada comes back in, but he’s taken out quickly. He’s curb stomped (old school style) into a chair and has to be helped to the back. Star is left to defend herself alone. She hits an armdrag and a few strikes before kicking Cortez in the balls.

Star takes Bael down with a nice tornado DDT to the outside of the ring, but Castro brings her in the ring and boots her. Star fights back with a rolling neckbreaker before being slammed to the mat. Star fights back and gets two off of a big Frankensteiner.

All three members of the Crew come in and stomp Star out in the middle of the ring. They signal that they’re going to finish it but Big Ryck shows up with an eyepatch, and he looks enormous. Star lands a roll up for the win.

Winner: Sexy Star, Mascarita Sagrada & Pimpinela Escarlata via pinfall

The Crew backs down from Ryck as the show ends.

To get things rolling, WWE re-racks the highlights from last week’s Rival show, complete with the title wins by Sasha Banks and Kevin Owens. Then we get a word from William Regal who reiterates that NXT rules allow for title changes via ref stoppage, as was the case last week. Regal announces that Owens will face Adrian Neville tonight in a non-title bout. After an intro package, Kevin Steen hits the ramp with the NXT title on his shoulder.

With mic in hand, KO acknowledges that a lot of people have an issue with his win at Takeover. He says their opinions don’t matter and that he has never pretended to be anything other than the guy who would be champion. He also declares that Sami Zayn is “the past” and that Finn Balor is the future because he’s the number one contender. He says Finn will meet the same fate as Zayn in the end and heads backstage.

Rhyno hits the ring next and the crowd approves.

Rhyno vs. Elias Samson

In a quick squash match, Rhyno decimates his young opponent after a few power moves.

Result: Rhyno defeats Elias Samson via pinfall.

Backstage, Finn Balor says he’s ready to face Kevin Owens for the title.

Out in the ring, the Vaudevillians are ready for their match.

Enzo Amore and Big Cass vs. Vaudevillians

Before the match, Big Cass tells the Vaudevillains that they’ve had their title shot and now it’s time for Enzo and Cass. The bell rings and Enzo squares off with Simon Gotch. Gotch gets the jump on Amore after some interference by Aiden English. He gets in some more offense and English tags in. English works over Amore briefly but Enzo slips away and tags in Cass who whoops up on Aiden. Enzo tags in and they double-team Aiden before landing the pinfall win.

Result: Enzo Amore and Big Cass defeat the Vaudevillians via pinfall.

Post-match, Blake and Murphy show up on the Tron. They taunt Enzo and Cass and tell Carmella she’s lookin’ fiiiine…

Adrian Neville cuts a promo saying he has a personal beef with Owens and then Bailey and Becky share their respective takes on last week’s fatal four-way.

CJ Parker comes out and says he hates everyone because he didn’t get a spot on Takeover. He sets up a cardboard sign in the middle of the ring indicating that he’s taking over the show and starts putting up caution tape. Computer glitches crackle and Parker gets ambushed by a dude who jumps the barricade. It’s Solomon Crowe! Crowe beats the holy bejeezus out of Parker and then tells the audience that regular programming will now resume.

Blue Pants vs. Sasha Banks

Blue Pants gets a big welcome from the crowd, along with some a cappella entrance music. After the bell, Sasha invites Blue pants to leave the ring without a fight. Blue pants responds by knocking The Boss outside. She comes back in and eventually gets Blue Pants under control. She stretches Blue Pants in the corner and hits her abdomen with a double foot stomp, pins her but picks her up before the ref counts three. She then locks Blue Pants in a submission hold, earning the tap out.

Result: Sasha Banks defeats Blue Pants via submission.

After the match, Sasha says everybody is going to have to admit that she’s the baddest Diva in NXT. Then we see some bonus footage from Takeover in which William Regal comes out to check on Sami Zayn after the title match. We also get an update on Zayn’s status in which the doc says Zayn was cleared to make the Abu Dhabi shows. The main event is within sight after these commercial messages…

Adrian Neville vs. Kevin Owens

Owens steps out as soon as the bell rings. Neville gives chase and they brawl outside briefly before heading back inside. Neville puts Owens on the mat but KO roars back with a gut buster and gets control. He works over Neville in the corner and then follows with some mat stuff. He pauses briefly to soak in the crowd reaction and then punishes Neville some more. Adrian struggles to put up any kind of defensive effort as Owens slows the pace. He finally tosses Neville outside and heads out after him as we take a short break…

When we return, Owens has Neville back in the ring and he keeps the assault rolling, whooping up on Adrian before returning to the dreaded chin lock. Owens tries to toss Neville outside again and Adrian grabs the rope. He goes right at Owens and KO catches him, preparing for a slam but Neville turns it into a DDT. Once both guys are back on their feet, they trade shots until Adrian gains the advantage. Owens rolls outside for a break and Adrian hits a huge moonsault off the top, nailing Kevin out on the floor. Neville takes to the air again, putting KO down with a nice dropkick from the top rope. He keeps the heat on, taking Owens to task out on the floor with some high impact stuff. Neville earns a near fall in the ring but Owens is still in the match. Neville gets a pair of German suplexes on Owens and the crowd responds with “this is awesome” chants. You can’t teach that, people. Owens hits Adrian with a big elbow but Neville responds with a superkick a few moments later. The end comes when Owens delivers a thunderous power bomb and puts Neville’s shoulders on the mat for the count.

Result: Kevin Owens defeats Adrian Neville via pinfall.

The show fades to black as Owens raises the title over Adrian Neville, who is stretched out on the canvas.
