Fighting Spirit Review: NOAH “The First Navigation” on 1/12/15

0

Date: January 12th, 2015
Location: Yokohama Radiant Hall in Yokohama, Japan
Announced Attendance:  340 (Super No Vacancy)

I didn’t even know that this event was taped, yet here I am, watching a full version of it. This is NOAH’s second event of the year, so the first since the angle with Suzuki-gun at the last event. Because of that, there is a fair amount of interaction with New Japan on this card as Suzuki-gun will be participating on the tour to establish themselves as forces to be reckoned with. No title matches on this event as it is a bit of a house show, but hopefully the wrestlers still bring it. Here is the full card:

– El Desperado vs. Hitoshi Kumano
– Genba Hirayanagi vs. Kenou vs. Yoshinari Ogawa
– Hajime Ohara vs. Quiet Storm
– Katsuhiko Nakajima vs. Zack Sabre Jr.
– Takashi Sugiura, Akitoshi Saito and Daisuke Harada vs. Takeshi Morishima, Maybach Taniguchi, and Mitsuhiro Kitamiya
– Lance Archer, Davey Boy Smith Jr., and Takashi Iizuka vs. Shane Haste, Mikey Nicholls, and Jonah Rock
– Minoru Suzuki, Shelton Benjamin, TAKA Michinoku, and Taichi vs. Naomichi Marufuji, Mohammed Yone, Atsushi Kotoge, and Taiji Ishimori

Not a very long event, so let’s get right to it.

El Desperado vs. Hitoshi Kumano
It was nice of them to find someone that Desperado could actually beat. Elbows by Kumano but Desperado hits a spear. They spill outside the ring and Desperado throws Kumano into a row of chairs. Back in the ring, kick to the ribs by Desperado but Kumano hits a jumping elbow. Dropkick by Kumano and he hits a scoop slam. Kumano goes up top and hits a missile dropkick, getting a two count cover. I like Kumano, he shows a lot of spunk. Desperado rakes Kumano in the eyes and hits a spinebuster. Crab hold by Desperado but Kumano refuses to lose to the rookie move and gets to the ropes. Quick pin attempts by Kumano but he gets two counts. Desperado grabs him and nails the Guitarra de Angel, and he picks up the three count. A good opener, Kumano is coming along and I am one of the eight people in the world that likes El Desperado. Not very long or intricate, but a solid way to begin the show. Score: 5.5

Genba Hirayanagi vs. Kenou vs. Yoshinari Ogawa
Ogawa and Hirayanagi get into it to start the match, but Kenou runs over and kicks Hirayanagi out of the ring. Enzigieri by Ogawa to Kenou and they trade pin attempts. Kick to the chest by Kenou, Hirayanagi overs him but Ogawa breaks it up. They go outside and Kenou throws Hirayanagi into the ring post. Kicks to the back by Kenou to Hirayanagi but Hirayanagi kicks him to the mat and goes up top but Ogawa shakes the ropes. Ogawa throws Kenou into the ring post and and pulls Hirayanagi off the top turnbuckle. Ogawa drop toeholds Kenou into Hirayanagi and Kenou throws Ogawa out of the ring. Hirayanagi hits a vertical suplex on Kenou and he knocks Ogawa back to the floor. Hirayanagi goes up top and hits a missile dropkick on Kenou. Kenou kicks Hirayanagi back and hits a double knee in the corner followed by a dropkick for a two count. Ankle hold by Kenou and Hirayanagi immediately submits. What an odd little match, I assume there was a storyline reason that Hirayanagi submitted so quickly since Ogawa was on the apron. Up to that odd ending it was too short to be good but too short to be offensive. Score: 3.5

Hajime Ohara vs. Quiet Storm
Quiet Storm pushes Ohara into the ropes but he gives a clean break. Shoulderblock by Quiet Storm and he lariats Ohara out of the ring. Ohara returns after a moment and Quiet Storm chops him to the mat. They trade elbows and Ohara rakes his eyes. Ohara twists Quiet Storm in the ropes and he hits a dropkick. Snapmare by Ohara and he applies an arm submission hold to Quiet Storm. Ohara kicks Quiet Storm’s arm in the corner but Quiet Storm hits a back bodydrop. Powerslam by Quiet Storm and he lariats Ohara in the corner. Northern Lights Suplex by Quiet Storm but it gets a two count. Flapjack by Quiet Storm but Ohara rakes his eyes and dropkicks Quiet Storm into the corner. Double underhook facebuster by Ohara but it gets a two count. Backstabber by Ohara and he applies Muy Bien but Quiet Storm is too close to the ropes. Hard elbow by Quiet Storm and he hits a Fisherman Buster. Low blow by Ohara, the referee sees it and calls for the bell. Lame ending, what is this, late 90s WCW? At least get DQed on something awesome, not a silly low blow. It wasn’t a good match up to that point anyway. Score: 2.0

Katsuhiko Nakajima vs. Zack Sabre Jr.
Nakajima and Sabre jockey around to start and roll around on the mat. Sabre kicks at Nakajima and they trade strikes. Sabre picks up Nakajima but Nakajima hits a dragon screw leg whip. Big boot by Nakajima, he goes up to the top turnbuckle and hits a missile dropkick. Nakajima and Sabre trade kicks to the chest, Sabre goes up top and hits a knee onto Nakajima’s arm. Sabre kicks Nakajima’s arm and slams him before applying a cross armbreaker, but Nakajima quickly gets a foot on the ropes. Nakajima puts Sabre on the top turnbuckle and kicks him in the head. Nakajima joins him and hits a superplex, he goes for a backdrop suplex but Sabre blocks it. Nakajima drop toeholds Sabre in to the turnbuckles and hits a backdrop suplex for a two count. Half nelson suplex by Sabre and he hits a PK for two. Brainbuster by Nakajima and he hits his own PK. Sabre goes for a cross armbreaker but Nakajima cuts it back and covers him for a three count. This was solid from start to finish, I actually liked the ending as it fit in with the rest of the match. This was back and forth, a very even match with both doing a good job of mixing up the action between submission holds, strikes, and suplexes. This won’t blow you away, but it was just good wrasslin’. Score: 7.5

Takashi Sugiura, Akitoshi Saito and Daisuke Harada vs. Takeshi Morishima, Maybach Taniguchi, and Mitsuhiro Kitamiya
Morishima and company attack their opponents right off the bat, Kitamiya attacks Sugiura into the corner but Sugiura elbows him back. Kitamiya shoulderblocks Sugiura down and he tags in Morishima. Saito is tagged in as well, and Saito hits a lariat. Another lariat by Saito but Morishima shoulderblocks him down. Taniguchi is tagged in and he lariats Saito. Another lariat and he goes for a chokeslam, but Saito blocks it. Powerslam by Taniguchi but Saito hits a back bodydrop. Knee by Saito and he tags in Harada. Elbow by Harada in the corner and he hits a hurricanrana. Enzigieri by Harada and he hits a fireman’s carry slam for a two. Elbows by Harada but Taniguchi hits a spinebuster and tags in Kitamiya. Belly to belly suplex by Harada and he tags in Sugiura. Big boot by Sugiura in the corner but Kitamiya pushes him back. Shoulderblock by Taniguchi, but Kitamiya hits a vertical suplex. Everyone attacks Sugiura in the corner, slam by Kitamiya but the pin attempt is broken up. Elbows by Sugiura but Kitamiya hits a spear. German suplex by Kitamiya, he picks up Sugiura, but Saito runs in and lariats Kitamiya. Boot by Sugiura but Kitamiya catches Sugiura’s knee and they trade elbows. Slaps by Kitamiya but Sugiura knees him. Sugiura picks up Kitamiya, he hits the Olympic Slam and gets the three count. I loved how feisty Kitamiya was. Yes he got pinned but he went toe to toe and occasionally got over on Sugiura, Sugiura is always willing to give younger guys their spotlight. Besides that there wasn’t much to the match, but I did enjoy that aspect of it. Score: 6.0

Lance Archer, Davey Boy Smith Jr., and Takashi Iizuka vs. Shane Haste, Mikey Nicholls, and Jonah Rock
They brawl to start the match, with Archer and Smith taking control in the ring. Haste and Nicholls regain the advantage and double team Archer. Archer is picked up but Nicholls is pulled out of the ring and Archer hits Haste with a full nelson bomb for two. Archer hits a lariat on Haste and tags in Smith. Smith kicks Haste in the chest and he hits a backdrop suplex. Smith knees Haste in the stomach and he tags in Iizuka. Iizuka naturally slaps on a nerve hold to slow the match down to a crawl and chokes Haste in the corner. Eye rake by Iizuka and Haste is choked in the corner. Smith is tagged in and Haste is double teamed. Smith picks up Haste and kicks Haste in the chest. Vertical suplex by Smith but Haste avoids the knee and hits an uppercut. Haste tags in Nicholls and Nicholls lariats Smith in the corner. Elbows by Nicholls and Smith hits a big boot. Backdrop suplex by Nicholls and he hits a sliding lariat for two. Belly to belly suplex by Smith and he tags in Archer. Rock is tagged in too and Rock hits a second turnbuckle shoulderblock. Kicks by Rock and he hits a body avalanche. Nicholls and Haste come in to help, Rock hits a body press but it gets a two count. Rock picks up Archer, elbows by Rock but Archer gets away as Smith runs in the ring, and they hit the Killer Bomb for a three count. Wow that was a sudden ending, I don’t think Rock had gotten hurt one bit when he suddenly gets hit with a finisher and defeated. Rock isn’t built up as superman or anything but he isn’t a jobber, someone held up their pen a little too early. The action was good up to that point but it made the match feel flat and rushed. Score: 4.5

Minoru Suzuki, Shelton Benjamin, TAKA Michinoku, and Taichi vs. Naomichi Marufuji, Yone, Atsushi Kotoge, and Taiji Ishimori
Suzuki and Marufuji start off the match. They begin pretty basic, trading holds, then they tag in Benjamin and Yone. Benjamin and Yone trade elbows and Yone hits a lariat. Irish whip by Yone but Benjamin applies an ankle hold. Benjamin tags in Michinoku but Yone hits a scoop slam before tagging in Ishimori. Ishimori drops Michinoku onto his knees, then Kotoge hits a swandive body press. Kotoge clubs at Michinoku and a brawl finally breaks out as the action spills outside the ring. Since we only have one camera we can’t really see what is going on, but Suzuki-gun seems to have gotten the upper hand. Michinoku and Kotoge return to the ring and they trade elbows. Michinoku tags in Taichi and Taichi hits down Kotoge in the corner. A brawl kicks off again, as Kotoge is stomped by everyone. Taichi and Michinoku attack Kotoge in the corner, and Taichi hits Kotoge low. Kotoge ducks a kick and punches Taichi, but Taichi hits a superkick and tags in Benjamin. Benjamin picks up Kotoge and hits a double underhook toss. Headbutt by Kotoge but Benjamin hits a swinging kick.

Benjamin tags in Suzuki and he toyingly kicks Kotoge in the head. Enzigieri by Kotoge but Suzuki stops him from making the tag. Jumping kick by Kotoge and he makes the hot tag to Marufuji. Marufuji hits a jumping elbow in the corner on Suzuki and he hits a superkick. Lariat by Marufuji to Suzuki, snapmare, and Marufuji stomps down on Suzuki’s head. Thrust kick by Marufuji and it gets a two count. Suzuki punches Marufuji in the stomach but Suzuki hits a big boot followed by a PK. Marufuji and Suzuki trade chops but Marufuji hits a back bodydrop. Thrust kick by Marufuji and he kicks Suzuki to the mat. Marufuji tags in Ishimori and Ishimori hits a jumping double knee. Handspring kick by Ishimori as Marufuji also comes in the ring, and everyone attacks Suzuki in the corner. Running kick by Ishimori to Suzuki, Marufuji picks up Suzuki and Suzuki eats a triple superkick followed by an Ishimori swanton bomb. Suzuki attacks Marufuji and Ishimori and he slaps the sleeper on Ishimori. Suzuki spins him around and hits a delayed Gotch-style piledriver, picking up the three count victory. This one had plenty of time but like the last match it ended suddenly, Ishimori only had a couple moves done on him the entire match before he bit it. The post match was fun and it was good for the start of the tour for Suzuki-gun to assert their dominance, I just think the ending was too quick for a match that got plenty of time. Score: 6.0

Final Thoughts:

Suzuki-gun ‘invading’ NOAH has injected some life into the promotion. Not that the promotion was dead but fresh matchups is always a good thing. Not every match was perfect but at least it felt different and sometimes that is enough. Sabre/Nakajima was a really fun midcard match, and there were some other solid matches as well. For storyline purposes not a bad show, they are setting the stage of things to come.

The “OH MY GOD!” Review: Maximum Xtreme Pro Wrestling Impact TV 4/2 & 4/9/04

0

Coming up now on “Oh My God” we begin to review Maximum Xtreme Pro Wrestling (MXPW). MXPW was a promotion based out of Florida. They ran their first two TV tapings in September and November of 2003 and began airing TV on Sunshine Network in April of the following year. I will be reviewing all of MXPW’s TV, a few random matches that can be found on Youtube, and both home videos that were released by the company. I believe this to be the complete collection of what is available in “released” footage. I know more was filmed by MXPW because on the Youtube matches there is a camera man at ringside, however the shows were never released in full to my knowledge.

Maximum Impact 2004-04-02 (Matches taped 2003-09-12 from Omni Auditorium in Coconut Creek, Fla)

Heavyweight: D-Lo Brown
TV Champion: “The Future” Chris Sabin
Tag Team: Vampire Warrior & Dave Johnson

Cyrus and Kevin Kelly are our announce team. They welcome us to the show and kick it right to the first match

Chaz & Julio vs. The Market Crashers, ref Mickie Jay

Market Crashers are Nasdaq and Dow Jones. Julio starts of with Nasdaq. Kevin Kelly is already less annoying then he was on the MLW show he did. Not much happens between Nasdaq and Julio before they tag out. Chaz comes off of the top rope with a standing whoopee cushion for 2. Tag to Julio and he hits a drop kick for 2. Cyrus talks about how they double team well because they are a veteran tag team. About 1 minute later Kelly talks about how they are a team that has not been together long. That’s good. Jones tags back to Nasdaq and he takes over on Julio. Julio comes back with a cutter and both teams tag. Chaz hits a bunch of clotheslines. Jones hits one of his own. Julio comes in and hits a spinning full nelson slam but he’s not the legal man so the ref won’t count. Chaz hits Jones with a downward spiral and gets the pin in 4.55.

Hardcore Rumble

Last two wrestlers have a hardcore singles match. Weapons are legal in the battle royal. Participants include Payne and Sean Allen with Snake Master Abudadein, Punisher, Dennis Knight and New Jack. The brawl begins before New Jack is in the ring. Within 20 seconds New Jack is the only one left. “Enter Sandman” hits and out comes the Sandman. Sandman gets a mic and questions how they can have a hardcore Battle Royal without him. New Jack tells him to get out of his face. Jack challenges Sandman to a Hardcore Match. Then they drink a beer together. Umm, Ok.

Highlights of a match between TV Champion “The Future” Chris Sabin and “Fallen Angle” Christopher Daniels is shown to Lungs’ song “Six Feet Deep”. AJ Styles came in and made a three count for Daniels while the ref was knocked out. Styles then hit the styles clash on Daniels, which allowed Sabin to retain his title once the ref woke up.

Kelly and Cyrus hype Styles versus Daniels to determine the number one contender to the TV Title later tonight.

Johnny Swinger & Simon Diamond (w/ Glenn Gilbertti) vs. Cuban Champion Fidel Sierra & Antonio Banks (w/ Fantasy)

Umm Kelly says this match is kicking off this hour of TV. Nice editing job. Banks will go on to become MVP in the WWE. Banks begins with Diamond. Gilberti joins the commentary team. Banks with a clothesline and Sierra comes in and they hit a double team back elbow for 2. Diamond misses a drop kick but then Swinger hits a clothesline from the apron and tags in. Tag to Diamond and they hit a double team side slam reverse DDT combo. Diamond and Swinger make a few tags back and forth until Banks is able to make a tag after some miscommunication. Sierra comes in slowly. He and Banks go to whip Diamond and Swinger together but Swinger reverses Sierra and Diamond clotheslines him. Banks goes for a powerbomb on Swinger but Diamond superkicks him and gets a 2 count. Gilberti and Fantasy fight over a chair on the floor and the ref goes out to break them apart. Problem Solver happens in the ring to Sierra not on camera and Swinger gets the pin in 6.05.

Buff Bagwell vs. Luther Biggs, ref Mickie Jay

Biggs had a brief stint in WCW and TNA. Biggs on the mic before the match and he talks about how Bagwell has had everything handed to him because he’s a pretty boy with a good body. Biggs has built up frustration over the past 16 years and tonight he takes it out on Bagwell. Bagwell says he’s glad Biggs told his name cause no one knew who he was. Basically for 16 years Biggs has been fat and has sucked he says. Biggs attacks but Bagwell sends him to the floor. Biggs clotheslines Bagwell on the top rope as he’s getting back into the ring. Biggs now in control. Kelly says New Jack and Sandman go at it tonight but I’m pretty sure that match is set for next week. Biggs misses a corner charge and Buff with a swinging neck breaker for 2. Blockbuster ends the match in 3.23.

Tag Team Champions Vampire Warrior & Dave Johnson (w/ Luna Vachon) vs. Payne & Sean Allen

Another match that is out of order as they talk about the Hardcore Battle Royal “last week” and an attack by “Franchise” Shane Douglas on D-Lo Brown. After some back and forth Payne and Allen take over on Johnson. Johnson finally able to make a tag after a few minutes of taking punishment. Warrior comes in and hits a power slam on Allen for 2. All four men in the ring now. Johnson and Warrior hit clotheslines and get the win with a double team Impaler DDT in 6.49.

My thoughts on the show…

So we get a mix of semi-big name guys and a bunch of indy wrestlers that don’t seem to know how to do any wrestling moves correctly. This was really bad, don’t watch this one.

Maximum Impact 2004-04-09 (Matches taped 2003-09-12 from Omni Auditorium in Coconut Creek, Fla)

Heavyweight: D-Lo Brown
TV Champion: “The Future” Chris Sabin
Tag Team: Vampire Warrior & Dave Johnson

“Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels vs. AJ Styles, ref Bruce Michaels

The winner of this match will be the number one contender for the TV Title held by Chris Sabin. Styles cost Daniels his match against Sabin. Daniels dives out of the ring onto Styles before the match even starts. Daniels sends him to the guardrail. Back in the ring with get a bell and the match is officially underway. Styles comes back and hits a gut buster for 2. Kevin Kelly talks about matches that happened last week as if they happened this week or are going to happen later today. Styles ducks his head for a back drop but Daniels throws him down. Daniels sits Styles on the turnbuckle and slams him off. Daniels goes for the BME but Styles moves Daniels lands on his feet but Styles hits him with an enziguri. They both go for a flying cross body and crash into each other. Sabin comes in the ring and nails Daniels with the belt and then drops Styles with the cradle shock. Ref calls for the bell and we have a no contest in 5.23.

Hardcore Match: New Jack vs. Sandman, ref Mickie Jay

Sandman is opened up about 20 seconds into the match. Quickly to the floor where the fight continues on. They go black and white once the blood really starts to flow. Boooooooo! Sandman wins with the white Russian leg sweep in 4.56.

Highlights of a match between Simon Diamond and Johnny Swinger with Glenn Gilbertti vs. Tag Team Champions Vampire Warrior and Dave Johnson with Luna Vachon air with Lungs’ song “Brain Snap” playing over it. Diamond and Swinger walked away from the match as the new champions.

More Lungs’ music videos as their song “One on One” is used to show clips of Chasyn Rance against Bruno Sassi of Phi Delta Slam. The screen rotates the whole time making this very un-enjoyable to watch. Sassi won with a sunset flip. I don’t know who Lungs is but I know that I don’t like them.

TV Champion Chris Sabin vs. AJ Styles vs. “Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels, ref Mickie Jay

Daniels and Styles attack Sabin to start. They dump him to the floor and go afar each other. Styles hits the ropes and Sabin pulls him out of the ring. Daniels dives at them but Sabin slides back in. Daniels hits Styles and then Sabin knocks down Daniels. Styles and Sabin now go at it until Daniels comes back in. Sabin with a swinging fisherman on him for 2. AJ throws Sabin out of the ring and follows with a somersault senton. Daniels with an Arabian press to the floor on both AJ and Sabin. Hanging vertical suplex from Daniels onto AJ gets 2. Sabin comes flying back into the ring with a springboard drop kick that hits both his opponents. Daniels hits a bulldog on AJ and clotheslines Sabin at the same time. He then goes to bulldog Sabin and dana AJ? Not sure how that would work. It doesn’t anyway as AJ power bombs him. Sabin goes for a super belly to back. Daniels joins in and he hits it on Sabin and all three of them go crashing to the mat. Daniels with a blue thunder bomb for 2 on AJ. Sabin with a tiger driver on Daniels for 2. AJ with a brain buster on Sabin for that almost gets a 3 count. Chokeslam by Daniels on AJ and he hits the BME for 2.9! Sabin with a back breaker on Daniels for 2. AJ with the springboard into a reverse DDT but Sabin kicks out. AJ goes for it on Daniels but Daniels reverses it and goes for the last rites. Sabin breaks it up and picks up Daniels for the cradle shock but we go to commercial. Ummm seriously. Back from break and we get the finish of the match in a fucking music package. OH come on! It sounds like another shitty Lungs’ song but there is no graphic on the screen to let us know. Sabin goes for a rana, Styles tries to hit the styles clash but Sabin crosses his arms so AJ can’t hook them. Styles swings Sabin up for a power bomb but Sabin lands on his feet. Styles rolls up Sabin but then picks him up in the clash and gets the pin and title. I’m thinking that Daniels got hit with the cradle shock and this all happened right after. Not counting the music video portion 10.09 was shown.

More highlights to shitty music. This time it’s a three way tag match from an outdoor charity show. No commentary or ring introductions so I have no idea whose in the match. The whole thing ends after about 2 minutes being shown no finish or anything just the copyright notice and then it’s off the air.

My thoughts on the show…

The three way TV title match was pretty good until it became a fucking music video. UGH, I already hate myself for watching these shows.

Fighting Spirit Review: Stardom “New Year Star 2015”

0

Date: January 11th, 2015
Location:  Shin-Kiba 1st RING in Tokyo, Japan
Announced Attendance:  290

The first Joshi event of the new year! That I am reviewing. I fell in love a bit with Joshi last year, as even though I have been watching puroresu for over ten years now I never had really tried Joshi. No real reason why, I was just busy watching other promotions and never really thought about it. But when I was reviewing any event I could find last year, I finally got to know the Joshi wrestlers and soon some of them were my favorite wrestlers period. While this is not a major event (no title matches) for Stardom, all the bigger stars are here and while it may have more of a house show vibe I still expect it to be entertaining. Here is the full card:

– Dragonita vs. Kyoko Kimura
– Hatsuhinode Kamen vs. Takumi Iroha
– Act Yasukawa and Heidi Lovelace vs. Hudson Envy and Kris Wolf
– Io Shirai vs. Momo Watanabe
– Nanae Takahashi, Kairi Hojo, and Koguma vs. Yoshiko, Mayu Iwatani, and Reo Hazuki

Looks like this was shown in full, hooray.

Dragonita vs. Kyoko Kimura
They jockey around for position to start the match off, but Kimura boots Dragonita in the head to end the opening festivities. Kimura wraps up Dragonita in the ropes as she tugs on her ponytail before throwing her out of the ring. Kimura roughs up Dragonita on the floor before sliding her back in, Dragonita fights back with chops but Kimura chops her back. Dragonita ducks a lariat and hits a shoulderblock before hitting a running elbow in the corner. Diving crossbody by Dragonita but Kimura kicks out. Vertical suplex by Kimura, she goes up top and hits a missile dropkick for two. Dragonita ducks a boot and hits a really ugly hurricanrana for a two count. Sliding kick by Dragonita but it also gets two. Fireman’s carry into a sitout slam by Dragonita, but Kimura rolls though it and applies a cross armbreaker. Dragonita quickly submits, making Kimura the winner. This was a really rough opener. Dragonita is not a new wrestler but something was really off here, as her moves just weren’t hit crisply and she looked unsure of herself. Then the match ended with a cross armbreaker with no arm work to lead up to it. Not a lot of redeeming qualities here. Score: 2.5

Hatsuhinode Kamen vs. Takumi Iroha
Still like Iroha’s new gear, but I think I already said that. But I never know who read my older reviews to know what I previously said, its a delicate balance. They bounce off each other to start off which Iroha gets the better of. Dropkick by Iroha and she applies a crab hold, but Kamen reaches the ropes. They trade elbows, Kamen charges Iroha but Iroha kicks her back. Inside cradle by Kamen but it gets two, boot by Kamen and an elbow drop but she gets two again. High kick by Iroha and she applies a Scorpion Deathlock but Kamen quickly gets out of it. Another high kick by Iroha but it gets a two count. Iroha goes up to the top turnbuckle but Kamen rolls out of the way of the frog splash. German suplex hold by Kamen but it gets a two. Boot by Kamen but Iroha hits a heel kick. Frog Splash by Iroha and she gets a three count. Takumi Iroha pick up the win. I am not sure what Kamen’s gimmick is but its rather silly, although it does help disguise the fact that she doesn’t appear to be very good. She should be protected in six man tags though. Iroha looked fine. Score: 3.5

Act Yasukawa and Heidi Lovelace vs. Hudson Envy and Kris Wolf
Two new wrestlers for Kevin to learn about, I’ll add their profiles to the site later. Envy and Wolf are a funny contrast as Envy is doing the cold hearted bitch thing while Wolf is smiling constantly. They should star in a sitcom. Yasukawa and Wolf start off the match, Yasukawa clubs Wolf to the mat and tags in Lovelace. Wolf bites on Lovelace’s arm but Lovelace elbows her and kicks her into the corner. Envy tags herself in, kicks to the leg by Lovelace but Envy catches her with a powerslam. Envy kicks Lovelace in the head and stretches her face while acting like she doesn’t know its illegal. Rut roh, I may be falling in love. Curb stomp by Envy and she tags Wolf back in. Wolf bites Lovelace while Envy holds her, and Wolf twists Lovelace’s arm over the rope. Envy comes back in and they both kick Lovelace before hitting a double dropkick. Wolf back in and she hits an elbow drop. She tags in Envy but Lovelace hits a kick combination followed by a backdrop suplex. Lovelace tags in Yasukawa and Yasukawa dropkicks Envy. Wolf comes in to help but Yasukawa beats up both of them.

Yasukawa slams Envy on top of Wolf, cover with one foot but it gets two. Dropkick by Yasukawa and she tags Lovelace back in. Roaring elbow by Envy but Lovelace hits an enzigieri. Kick to the knee by Envy and she knees Lovelace in the face for a two count. German suplex hold by Envy but it gets two. She tags in Wolf and Wolf hits a jumping knee in the corner followed by a kick to the back for two. Wolf goes off the ropes but Yasukawa grabs her so Lovelace can kick her. DDT by Lovelace, she goes up top but Envy punches her and throws her off. High kick by Wolf, cover, but Yasukawa breaks it up. Fisherman suplex by Lovelace and she tags in Yasukawa. Envy comes in to help and hits a running double knee drop, she then picks up Wolf and drops her onto Yasukawa for a two. They trade elbows, Envy picks up Yasukawa and hits a Samoan Drop. Wolf then hits a second turnbuckle double knee drop, but Lovelace breaks it up. Yasukawa catches a Wolf kick and applies the Act Lock, and she picks up the three count! Act and Heidi win the match. Really impressed by Envy and Wolf here, Lovelace seemed a bit awkward at times (she is lanky), and Yasukawa for the most part just let the gaijins control things. Fun match for the most part. Score: 6.0

Io Shirai vs. Momo Watanabe
They lock knuckles and trade wristlocks, they fly around the ring until Shirai hits an armdrag. Submission hold by Shirai and she stomps on Watanabe. Elbows by Watanabe but Shirai hits a scoop slam. Another slam by Shirai and she hits another for a two count. Camel clutch by Shirai and she kicks Watanabe around the ring. Watanabe avoids the double kneedrop and hits a dropkick for a two count. Dropkick by Watanabe, Shirai kicks her but Watanabe delivers two more dropkicks. Watanabe suplexes Shirai into a tree of woe and hits a running dropkick. Snap rolling suplexes by Watanabe and she gets a two count. Dropkick to the back by Shirai and she applies a crab hold. Shirai goes for a tiger feint kick but Watanabe ducks it and hits a running double knee for a two count. Drop toehold by Shirai and she hits a handstand double kneedrop. Watanabe avoids the quebrada and hits a jumping double knee strike for a two count. Watanabe picks up Shirai and they trade elbows. Double underhook sitout facebuster by Shirai and she then applies the armtrap crossface. Watanabe makes it to the ropes and Shirai hits a running double knee strike in the corner. Missile dropkick by Shirai and she hits a moonsault. Cover and she gets the win, Io Shirai picks up the three count. A good match considering that Watanabe just debuted a few months ago. Shirai is a good leader through these matches, she gets a victory and Watanabe gets experience so everyone wins. Score: 6.5

Nanae Takahashi, Act Yasukawa, and Koguma vs. Yoshiko, Mayu Iwatani, and Reo Hazuki
The original results I found said that Hojo was in this match, so I was sad when she wasn’t. Takahashi and Yoshiko start things off. They trade elbows and Takahashi hits an armdrag. Yasukawa and Iwatani are tagged in and Iwatani dropkicks Yasukawa in the back before kicking her repeatedly. Yasukawa hits a rolling senton and gets a two count. Koguma is tagged in and she flips around with Iwatani, Iwatani sends Koguma out to the apron but Koguma slides back in and rolls up Iwatani for a two. Yoshiko and Hazuki come in the ring and Koguma is triple teamed. Everyone jumps on Yoshiko as she hits a splash, cover by Hazuki but it gets a two count. Koguma jumps on Hazuki’s back and tags in Takahashi. Side slam by Takahashi and she hits a scoop slam Takahashi tags in Yasukawa, they throw Hazuki into the corner but Yasukawa and Takahashi start jawing at each other. Yasukawa throws Hazuki to the mat, she picks her up but Hazuki hits an elbow smash. Hazuki tags in Iwatani and she dropkicks Yasukawa. Koguma and Takahashi run into the ring but Yoshiko shoulderblocks both of them. Iwatani grabs Koguma and Hazuki by the arm and hits a split legged double armdrag. Double dropkick by Iwatani, she then sails off the top turnbuckle down to the floor onto Koguma. Iwatani is on fire! Yoshiko gets in the ring with Hazuki and throws her out of the ring onto all the wrestlers. Iwatani rolls Yasukawa in the ring and hits a slingshot doublestomp. Yasukawa slams Iwatani into the corner and slams her for a two count. Yasukawa goes up top and hits a missile dropkick onto Iwatani for a two count.

Yasukawa tags in Takahashi, and Takahashi chops Iwatani against the ropes. Jumping elbow by Iwatani and she hits a bridging suplex for two. Iwatani goes for a hurricanrana but Takahashi catches her and applies a crab hold. Dropkick by Iwatani and she tags in Yoshiko. Senton by Yoshiko to Takahashi but Takahashi gets away, after trading lariats she applies an armbar until Yoshiko gets to the ropes. Stiff kick by Yoshiko and she hits a lariat for two. Yoshiko goes up top but Takahashi recovers and applies a sleeper. Dropkick by Koguma but Yoshiko gets her knees up when Takahashi jumps off the top turnbuckle. Backdrop suplex by Takahashi and they hit dual lariats. Yoshiko tags in Hazuki while Koguma is also tagged in. Both Hazuki and Koguma have new looks now also, I didn’t even recognize Hazuki (it is just a one camera setup so not the closest view). Anyway they hit dropkicks and elbows until Hazuki levels Koguma with a dropkick. Yoshiko and Iwatani come in and Hazuki eats a triple boot. Takahashi runs in and crossbodies everyone. Koguma hits a missile dropkick on Hazuki for a two count. Sleeper by Koguma but Hazuki gets out of it. Yoshiko and Iwatani come in the ring and they literally throw Iwatani at Koguma for a dropkick. Like a dart. Doublestomp by Hazuki and a cover, but Koguma kicks out. Takahashi runs in and superplexes Hazuki, Koguma hits a German suplex hold for a two count. Takahashi hits a running plancha suicida out of the ring, while Yasukawa accidentally hits Koguma in it. Koguma and Yasukawa argue, but Takahashi runs in and lariats Hazuki, Kogu Clutch by Koguma and she gets the three count! This was an awesomely fun match. Iwatani needs to stay in the upper card and out of comedy matches, she is awesome. Hazuki looked great, hell they all were on point. Loved it. Score: 8.5

Final Thoughts:

I went in not expecting a lot, this wasn’t taped for TV (no idea what it was taped for) and was just a warm up for their big anniversary event. While the first half of the card ranged from skippable to respectable, I really enjoyed the main event a lot. The young wrestlers on this card really impressed me as Iwatani, Koguma, Envy, Wolf, and Hazuki all showed a lot of ability. If this crew is the immediate future of the mid-card and the eventual future of the top of the card, I think Stardom is in good shape going forward. It wasn’t ‘must see’ but I’d recommend at least watching the last match, if you don’t mind watching from one hard camera.

Bray Wyatt Wrestles And Reportedly Gets Sick In The Ring After Tonight’s WWE RAW

0

The dark main event after tonight’s WWE RAW at the Amway Center in Orlando saw John Cena defeat Bray Wyatt. A correspondent noted that Wyatt received a good reaction.

The match saw Wyatt dominate Cena but Cena made the comeback and won with an Attitude Adjustment. Before the finish, Wyatt apparently got sick in the ring and threw up a significant amount.

Another fan, who was not our correspondent, tweeted the following:

Jessi Davin Tweeted: “Bray Wyatt is NOT OKAY. He is REALLY SICK. Puked all over the ring during dark match.” #RAW #WWEORLANDO #RAWOrlando

The WWE Raw Report 2/16/15 – The Go-Home Show To Fast Lane

0

WWE Raw Pre-Show Notes

– Hosts are Scott Stanford, Corey Graves, and David Otunga. We go right into discussion from last week’s Raw and Smackdown in regards to the issues between Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan heading into Fast Lane. The panel also notes the issues between Big Show and Kane from last week’s Smackdown where Show KO’d Kane and cost them their match against Reigns & Bryan.

– We see footage from the corny HHH segment from Raw last week with the fake Sting and the “I Accept” sign on the big screen. Sting will be at Fast Lane to accept HHH’s invitation.

– We look at last week’s brawl between Cena & Rusev. The panel discusses Cena’s eye injury and announce that Cena will open tonight’s Raw.

– Renee Young interviews Darren Young on his “first night back” in WWE. I guess bitching about Abu Dhabi forced WWE’s hand to put him on TV. Anyway, Young gets cut off by The Ascension who basically call him out. Now Young must find a partner to take on the Ascension. The panel ponders who he will find, Road Warrior Animals name is dropped as a thought.

– We’re reminded of the current issues between the Dust Brothers…. Dusty Rhodes will be on Raw tonight to try and reconcile his two sons. Now if Dusty could fix the New Day….

The panel goes back over the basic bullet points of the show, and before you know it, it’s time for Raw….

Not sure if everyone else had this problem, but the Preshow froze like crazy for me… This free month thing really causes the preshow to lag. Cheapskates.

WWE Raw Report 2/16/15 from the Amway Center in Orlando, FL

– We learn at the top of the show it’s Kane vs. Roman Reigns, and Big Show vs. Daniel Bryan tonight…

– As promised, John Cena opens the show. Is case you didn’t know, he has Rusev this Sunday at Fast Lane. We revisit the Rusev/Cena brawl from last week and Cena having his eye re-injured. Cena cuts right to the point and says he will take the fight to, and beat Rusev at Fast Lane. Cena acknowledges the fans discussion of when will we see a new Cena, a Cena with more aggression. Cena says the smiling Cena is gone for his match with Rusev, we WILL see a new Cena. He will be a new Cena to beat Rusev this Sunday…

Cue Lana & Rusev to the stage. John’s problem isn’t that he’s just a stupid American, but he lives in a delusional world where his cup is half full. Rusev lives in reality, and that reality is that Rusev is the superior athlete of any WWE superstar and the greatest US champion of all time. Lana acknowledges that Cena says he never gives up, but this time there will be no coming back for Cena. Rusev says he will destroy Cena Sunday and crush his will.

Cena says Rusev was won a lot of fights, but he’s never lost one. Cena says he’s going to kick Rusev’s ass right now…. Cena darts up the ramp and attacks Rusev on the stage, tackling him down and beating the shit out of Rusev. Cena shows off his new “aggression” as he continues to beat on Rusev after officials come out. Cena gives Rusev a receipt from last week when he whips him face first into the LED lights, TWICE…. The crowd gets into it and counts Cena dropping ten more punches to the skull of the unconscious Rusev…. Rusev is laid out dead as Cena talks trash over top of him…

It’s different, so I’m not against the segment. I think I would have pulled this trigger AFTER Cena jobbing at Fast Lane. I think it would have had more meaning, but hey it worked for the fans in Orlando!

-Commercial Break-

– Dean Ambrose backstage skit. Barrett has his version of TMZ, Ambrose has his version of Weekend Update. Ambrose is in a suit and promises that Barrett will sign an IC Title match contract for Fast Lane tonight!

1. Dean Ambrose vs. Luke Harper

Poor Luke is already in the ring for introductions. Ambrose has the IC Title contract with him he wants BNB to sign. Luke gets a hand full of Dean’s face to start, but Ambrose comes back with a flurry of offense… Dean lands the bulldog out of the corner and a spinning elbow off the middle rope for 2 counts… Ambrose sends Luke to the floor and tries a suicide dive, but Harper catches him and shoves Dean into the apron before landing a BIG BOOT to Ambrose on the floor… And Raw goes to commercial!

While we work through commercials, I will say that we’re 24 minutes into Raw and it’s already better than all of last week’s episode, so that’s a plus!

Back from break, Harper has control with the commercial chinlock. Dean breaks free and drives Luke down with a Tornado DDT. Both men are down for the count of 5, then they both pop back up. Ambrose goes to town with chops punches, and a dropkick up against the ropes… Flying elbowdrop on the standing Luke Harper for 2… Harper ducks another top rope move from Dean, and Luke nails Dean with a Superkick for a near fall… Harper tries the Powerbomb but Dean escapes. Ambrose tries the big clothesline off the ropes, but Harper catches him with a spinning sidewalk slam for 2… Ambrose ducks the clothesline and rolls Luke up for 2… Ambrose comes back with his own nasty clothesline, and Dirty Deeds ends this one in 11:03.

Before leaving, Dean makes sure to grab his IC Title contract as he heads off to find Barrett. Really good match to build Dean up for Sunday.

-Commercial Break-

– HHH is backstage talking with Kane. Big Show pops in. Kane & Show argue like whiny babies. Way to get over your monsters. They challenge each other to a fight, Big Show keeps shouting May 13th for some reason. I guess that’s over my head… HHH says they look stupid. Show asks “As stupid as Sting made you look last week?”. Then Show apologizes. HHH says he will handle Sting tonight. HHH tells Show & Kane to find solutions in their matches tonight, not excuses…

– Bray Wyatt off in the dark, cuts another mysterious promo. Wyatt talks to someone, dunno who. Wink, wink… Bray tells this unnamed person the fear he used to have for him is now nothing but pity… Wyatt informs this person that “It’s Coming!”.

– Backstage, Dusty Rhodes is with his thons, if you weeeeell, Thardust & Goldust. Cody blows Goldust and acts goofy. Dusty cuts him off “dammit Cody”. Dusty says without family they mean nothing. Dusty says they must stay together. Goldust asks Cody is he can “do this”. Cody smiles and pats Goldust on the chest. The three hug, and the Dust Brothers head off to the ring, or something…

As much as I disagree with how Kane & Show are used, at least all three of these backstage segments served a purpose. So far every segment of Raw has been well booked. Nothing WOW, but everything has had meaning…

-Commercial Break-

2. The New Day (Kofi & Xavier, w/Big E) vs. Stardust & Goldust

As usual, the crowd is completely DEAD for New Day. I don’t know that anything this un-over has ever lasted this long, especially in this era… Dusty Rhodes is shown watching from backstage. Woods & Stardust start. The Dusts gain control early and seem to be getting along as they make quick tags. Woods with an enzuigiri on Goldust and makes a hot tag to Kofi. Crowd DOESN’T MAKE A NOISE…. Kofi hits his usual stuff on Goldy. Top rope reverse body block on Goldust for 2. Stardust tries a Disaster Kick but Kofi ducks and almost hits Goldust, but pulls up short from hitting his brother. Kofi goes for a Trouble In Paradise kick, but Stardust ducks and the kick nails Goldy…. Kofi covers Goldust and takes the win in 3:00….

After the match, Stardust helps up Goldust and hugs his brother…. A groggy Goldust starts to walk away and Cody hooks him for CROSS RHODES… Stardust leaves his brother laying in the ring.

– Backstage, Byron Saxton interviews Roman Reigns. Saxton asks Reigns about his journey. Reigns talks about winning the Rumble, now having to wrestle Bryan, and then Brock Lesnar. Reigns says he isn’t focused on the journey, but the destination. Reigns says the Authority didn’t trick him into this match at Fast Lane. Reigns says he respects Bryan, but says if he had been eliminated at Rumble he would have taken it like a man. Bryan can’t say that as he found an opportunity to screw Reigns out of his shot. Reigns says Bryan can thank him for this opportunity….

Probably the best written Reigns promo this year. Definitely causing a lot of boos for him though.

– Daniel Bryan on his way to the ring to watch Roman Reigns take on Kane…

-Commercial Break-

– Dusty Rhodes confronts Stardust. Cody mocks his dads Polka dot era, and his embarrassing Goldust brother. Star says these things cost Cody Rhodes to explode, and now he’s Stardust. Cody Rhodes is dead, and so is his father…

3. Roman Reigns vs. Kane

Daniel Bryan on commentary. He points out he had one less title defense as champion than Brock Lesnar and should have never been stripped… Good point, and sad. Fans are chanting YES! along with Bryan, which distracts Reigns, allowing Kane to take over. Kane with a DDT for 2. On commentary Bryan acts about as douchey as Reigns did in his interview. Not really sure what they’re attempting to do with that gimmick, but whatever… Kane just dominates for like 5 minutes straight, getting several near falls. Reigns gets “You can’t wrestle”/”Yes he can” dueling chants. Roman comes back with some clotheslines and a Samoan Drop on Kane gets 2. Bryan distracts Reigns again with another YES! chant, and Kane with a BIG BOOT knocks Reigns to the floor….

Kane begins to dismantle the announce table to chokeslame Reigns on it, but Roman counters and SPEARS Kane on the floor for a lame ass count out win in maybe 6:30 or so… But really? Kane can’t do a job?

Afterwards, Roman invites Bryan into the ring. Daniel just jumps around chanting YES! outside on the floor… Can you sense the mind games?!?!?!??!

Not really sure why Kane couldn’t do a job here, and not really sure where this dueling baby faces acting like douche bags thing is going, but it’s different.

-Commercial Break-

– From the WWE App, Big Show starts to mock Kane, but Kane snaps back. Kane makes excuses, but Show reminds him HHH doesn’t want excuses. Kane then says Bryan is going to knock Show’s teeth out tonight… Kane is pissed at his loss…

– Renee Young interview Daniel Bryan. Renee asks if Bryan will be using the YES! chant at Fast Lane to psyche out Reigns. Bryan says we can expect more at Fast Lane.

– Another Bray Wyatt promo. “Limbo is no place for your soul”. Who is he talking to?????!!!!! 😉

– Byron Saxton with the Bella Twins. They have stolen Paige’s gear, the new DX ladies and gentlemen. How junior high of them. Paige comes out of the locker room in a towel. She needs gear, she asks Cameron for gear, but GIRL BYE…. Then the Rosebuds are randomly standing there. Paige grabs a Fairy or something out of the Rosebud crowd and yanks her into the locker room… Oh boy.

Can you imagine if Brock Lesnar stole Roman Reigns’ gear? And you wonder why NXT Women’s Wrestling is better….

Again, every one of these brief segments means something. Can’t say it was great booking to place a Wyatt/Undertaker promo right before a Divas 4th grade comedy routine, but at least they’re thinking outside the box.

-Commercial Break-

4. Paige vs. Summer Rae

And here we have Paige dressed as Tinkerbell. I guess she HAD to put on the gloves and knee highs to kep the ensemble true. Paige is pissed and beats the crap out of Rae. Summer takes over for a bit, but Paige isn’t in trouble for long… The PTO submission gets the win for Paige in 2:45.

The Bellas are out after the match. They trash Paige as a loser. Cummon Nikki, BE A STAR!!! Paige cuts them off and says she doesn’t need clothes to look good, she just needs the Divas Title, which she will win at Fast Lane. Nikki storms off pissed because she didn’t get to Paige…

– Seth Rollins in the back with J&J Security, he has Seth Rollins next. Looks like Ziggler is doing another job…

-Commercial Break-

– Dolph Ziggler cuts one of his better promos on the WWE App during the break. Figures…

– My name is Sheamus, and I love to fight. He won KOTR, he won a Royal Rumble, he won a bunch of titles, and now he returns… Sheamus Returns… No date given…

– Seth Rollins cuts a promo on President’s Day and how he is the future. Seth says the word future is passé. He is the best RIGHT NOW. Rollins says he could be President, he could be host of the Daily Show, but what he really wants to do is cash in his MITB briefcase and win the World Title. Seth says he SHOULD BE main eventing WrestleMania, but he’s stuck wrestling people BENEATH him like Rowan, Ryback, and especially Ziggler. Dolph’s music cuts Seth off.

Ziggler’s turn to cut a promo. He mocks some recent issues, he says it sounds like Seth had a bad Valentine’s Day. Dolph makes some jokes, but Seth says the only real joke is Ziggler’s career. Ziggler agrees that he is nothing compared to Rollins, especially when it comes to being a douche. Dolph says he’s the man who raises the bar at being the best. Ziggler says he will take out “the future” right now… Another decent promo from Ziggler.

5. Dolph Ziggler vs. Seth Rollins (w/J&J Security)

So does Ziggler job AGAIN, or is this where Rollins receives his wiener photo punishment? Ziggler attacks Rollins to start but we get no bell. Dolph drops Seth and knocks him to the floor… We go to commercial and the match hasn’t officially started yet…

The match begins on the WWE App, Rollins gets the upper hand quickly and works over Dolph outside and inside the ring. Just your basic heel offense, don’t want to give away too much during the break.

Back from break, we’re two minutes into the match and Seth has the chinlock hooked but Ziggler winds up on the outside. J&J Security causing some issues on the floor with Dolph and the referee ejects Mercury & Noble!!! Ziggler with a surprise inside cradle for a near fall, but Seth is right back on top. Ziggler with a jawbreaker and Rollins misses a shoulder charge into the corner… Corner splash and neckbreaker by Ziggz, and the jumping elbow gets 2… Dolph tries the Famouser,Seth tries to counter with a powerbomb in the corner, but Ziggz slips over with a sunset flip for 2….

Ziggler with the jumping DDT for another near fall… Both men down. Ziggler tries the Zigzag, but Seth holds onto the ropes and Rollins lands the Pelé enzuigiri kick. Seth talks smack as he beats down on Ziggles. Seth misses a top rope move, Ziggler misses a Famouser, Seth drops Dolph with a superkick to the gut…. Rollins misses a Curb Stomp… DOLPH WITH THE ZIGZAG!!!!! 1………2……………………………….J&J SECURITY ATTACK!!!!! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! Ziggler gets the DQ win in 7:15.

Damn them….

J&J Security attack Ziggler, but Ryback & Rowan make the save… Rollins & Mercury escape, but Noble gets surrounded and takes a Ryback SPINEBUSTER…. Fans with loud “FEED ME MORE” chants…. HHH looks pissed off in the back.

Please blow this mess off before Ziggler gets stick in a 6-Man tag at Mania…

-Commercial Break-

– Fast Lane Preshow will feature Paul Heyman on Miz TV….

– HHH on his way to the ring to respond to Sting. We see video of what Sting has done so far in WWE. HHH says he’s not afraid and says WCW will go up against WCW at Fast Lane. HHH starts to say what he’s going to do when…..

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ric Flair makes his way out to the ring!!!

Flair asks HHH not to cuss him out. Flair talks about how HHH has said he respects Flair. Flair says he loves and respects HHH too…

HHH cuts Flair off, he knows Flair is out here to sing the praises of Sting. HHH says he knows how good Sting is. HHH brings up Clash of Champions 1 when Sting took Flair to a draw, and then when Sting beat Flair for the NWA World Title. While all the other rats were jumping ship when WCW was done, Sting stood tall and proud. HHH says Sting was and is WCW, but had Sting came to WWE years ago then HHH would have kicked him out.

HHH says Sting’s career was built on Ric Flair’s reputation, so he would have kicked Sting’s ass for that alone. HHH says now Sting’s want to take WWE away from him. HHH says Sting is WCW, but HHH is WWE. Flair talks about how great HHH is… WHEN HE WRESTLES. Flair says a wrestlers worst enemy is time off. Ric says HHH is an executive now, and he needs to be the best at that now. Flair doesn’t want Sting to sneak up on HHH.

HHH says he is no Ric Flair, but when it comes to kicking Sting’s ass, Ric Flair is no HHH…

Flair asks HHH to do him a favor and not let Ric see HHH sitting on his ass again at Fast Lane like he was last Monday… HHH shoves Flair down. HHH says other than his wife and kids, nothing is more important to him than WWE… HHH says whether Sting goes on his own, os he beats it out of him, Sting will never be here again after Fast Lane…

Trips storms off leaving Flair in the ring.

Well that was a pleasant surprise. Not just Flair popping up unannounced, but the fact that he stayed on topic and both men really got things over. Flair seems to have trouble with his speech nowadays, but he still delivered what he needed to for this segment.

-Commercial Break-

6. The Ascension vs. Darren Young & ??? Some Guy

As Lillian is about to intro Darren’s partner, the Ascension’s music hits… LOL… Poor guy can’t even get a ring intro… The Ascension attack and beat the crap out of Young and his partner… TITUS O’NEIL makes the save, and everything he does is sloppy as hell… Young recovers and he and Titus clear the ring of the Ascension….

This would have been pretty cool for me if A. Titus & Young weren’t completely mistiming everything, and B. if the crowd gave a shit…. But again, at least everything on this show has direction. Prime Time Players reunite???

The match never happens by the way…

– The Miz is shown backstage asking Bad News Barrett to take Damien Sandow down a notch, and Miz will handle Ambrose for Barrett.

-Commercial Break-

7. IC Champion Bad News Barrett vs. Damien Sandow (w/The Miz)

Non-title, of course. The Miz is seated at ringside. Sandow is over as usual. BNB attacks Sandow, when Damien gets the upper hand The Miz rings a little bell and demands Sandow come clean a scuff off his shoe. Miz distracts Sandow until Barrett attacks and takes over. BNB controls for a bit, Sandow takes over again. The Miz stops Sandow again, and Barett clocks Damien with the Bull Hammer for the win in maybe 2:30…. Blah

After the match, Dean Ambrose attacks Barrett and Miz doesn’t bother to help… What a dick… Ambrose zip ties BNB’s hands around the ring post and forces his hand to sign the contract for an IC Title match at Fast Lane… Somehow that’s legal????

– Third Bray Wyatt Promo. This time he’s driving a nail into a piece of wood that looks to be a…. casket. Wyatt continues to send a message to his unnamed foe. Bray begs the man to find him, or else Bray says he will “find you”.

These Wyatt promos are short, but effective.

-Commercial Break-

– Sheamus Returns Vignette

8. Jimmy Uso & Naomi (w/Jey Uso) vs. Tyson Kidd & Natalya (w/Cesaro)

So this entire mess started with a double date gone awry… Quality writing… for General Hospital… As shitty as Tyson’s music is, it’s slightly better than Cesaro’s alarms… The girls go first, nothing much here. The guys take over. Poor Cesaro is playing third fiddle on the floor. The guys don’t do much, and the girls are right back in. Both girls try dropkicks at the same time and both kip up. Nattie takes over on Naomi, Tyson refuses to tag in and makes Nattie continue the match. The two girls trade pinfall attempts, and Naomi comes up with the win in 1:57… Well that was worthless…

After the match, Tyson verbally goes after Natalya about losing. Kidd belittles Nattie and she looks sad. Awwwww. All Cesaro is worried about is Sunday.

– Roman Reigns makes his way out to ringside to watch the upcoming match with Bryan vs. Show…

-Commercial Break-

9. Daniel Bryan vs. The Big Show

Show clearly outsizes Bryan by a mile, but Daniel get him in the corner and tries to work over Show’s leg… Show takes over with some big chops though… Bryan tries some YES kicks to grab control, but Show comes right back. They repeat this back and forth some more. Show tries a gorilla press slam, but Bryan counters into a Sleeper Hold… At this point Roman Reigns gets up and starts taking selfies with fans and signing autographs… For some reason this distracts Bryan, though I’m not sure why he cares… Show escapes the sleeper, Bryan with some YES Kicks, but Show catches one and drops Bryan.

During the commercial break, Show continues to control Bryan on the App. Bryan fights back and chops Show down and kicks Show’s leg out from under him. The two fight to the floor, but Show takes back over and flings Bryan into the barricade.

Back from break, Show continues to dominate. JBL continues to put over Reigns, while Cole puts over Daniel Bryan for the next few minutes. Daniel again kicks his way free, but Show catches him in a bear hug. Bryan escapes the bear hug by hooking Show in a front face choke… They do the Big Show/Benoit spot from the Royal Rumble where Show gets choked out and falls over the top to the floor… As Show lays by Roman Reigns, Reigns starts throwing out Roman’s shirts to the fans…

Bryan tries a suicide dive, but Big Show catches him and whips him outside. Bryan ends up being tosses into Reigns, and the two get in each others faces… Bryan shoves Reigns, then BIG SHOW SPEARS REIGNS on the floor… Back in the ring, Show tries to maintain control, but Bryan dropkicks Show’s leg out from under him… Bryan with dropkicks in the corner on Show… Show catches Bryan in a chokeslam hold on the third attempt… Bryan counters the Chokeslam with the YES Lock!!!!

Show crawls to the ropes for the break. Bryan unloads with the YES kicks to the chest of show and a big one to the head drops Show for 2… And Show kicks out with authority… Bryan goes to the top rope, but Roman Reigns runs in and cracks Big Show with the SUPERMAN PUNCH… And Bryan gets DQ’d…. Big Show wins on a DQ in 14:40….

Daniel Bryan still on the ropes after the match, nails Reigns with a dropkick off the top rope sends Roman to the floor!!! Reigns gets up and attacks Bryan and whips him to the floor… Bryan then rushes back in at Reigns, and the two men roll around fighting….

They take the fight to the floor, and the crowd really isn’t sure what to do…. Reigns drives Bryan into the barricade, but Daniel battles right back… And the officials are sent out to break things up… Crowd chants “Let Them Fight” as the two men try and get at each other while those super strong officials hold them back…

Both men cool off and the referees back away…. Bryan offers to shake Reigns hand…. The two men shake hands and start to walk away, then THEY BOTH ATTACK EACH OTHER AGAIN!!!! Bryan dropkicks Reigns to the floor and lands a SUICIDE DIVE!!!!

Reigns comes back and dumps Bryan into the crowd… The two men start fighting their way through the crowd…. Bryan smashes Reigns with a chair… And Reigns gives one right back… Back to ringside and the two men go tumbling over the announce table and continue brawling… Finally we get more officials and agents out and they separate the two… Bryan is standing on the announce table trying to get at Reigns… Roman is being pulled back with a busted mouth….

Reigns closes the show telling Bryan “wait til Sunday”…

Wow…. They did more in this one show to build this PPV than they’ve done in all other weeks combined… Somebody got off their ass and started making shit mean something… Kudos to Vince and whoever else… As much as last week was the worst Raw in months, I wouldn’t say this is the greatest Raw in forever, but I will say that every segment had a meaning. I like that we’ve gotten away from these Matador, midget, and Adam Rose segments, and they’re focusing on what the crowd wants to see… I found something worthwhile out of just about every segment, save for the mixed tag match and that Barrett match. And even though those segments weren’t necessarily executed the best way possible, they still built towards the PPV with Cesaro & Tyson challenging the Usos, and Ambrose getting BNB to sign the contract, and the Miz/Sandow stuff continues…

Heading into Fast Lane, on paper I felt Reigns vs. Bryan was a BIG MATCH, but it hadn’t really received the heat it needed… The closing of this show solidified this match and we SHOULD have a hot crowd for it.

As far as this Raw goes, I’d say watch the Ambrose/Harper and Ziggler/Rollins matches. Everything else was nothing special in the ring, though for a Big Show match, the main event was okay. I do recommend checking out the promos and angles on the show as I felt they ranged from pretty decent to really good. Not too shabby this week WWE….

I’ll return after Fast Lane as the Road to WrestleMania really heats up…
