WWE Announces Kevin Nash/”Diesel” For 2015 Hall Of Fame

0

WWE.com released the following…

With the force of an 18-wheeler barreling down the highway, Kevin Nash will charge into the WWE Hall of Fame the night before WrestleMania 31.

Breaking into the industry in 1990, the 6-foot-10 monster joined up with WCW, taking on the personas of a post-apocalyptic warrior, a mystical being from the emerald city of Oz, and a wise-cracking Las Vegas gambler. But it was when Nash jumped to WWE in 1993 that the big man began to leave his mark on the sports-entertainment world.

Clad in black leather from head to toe, he embraced his Motor City roots, taking on the name Diesel while serving as the stoic bodyguard for the cocky Shawn Michaels. Though his main duties were to protect the Heartbreak Kid, Diesel soon stepped into the ring himself. The WWE roster found it quite difficult to combat the giant who demolished the opposition with his trademark Jackknife Powerbomb, while the WWE Universe found it difficult to jeer someone who oozed coolness.

Within a year of his WWE debut, Big Daddy Cool put in a dominant Royal Rumble performance, eliminating seven Superstars on his own, along with capturing the Intercontinental Title and World Tag Team Titles with HBK. However, an errant Sweet Chin Music from Michaels at Survivor Series 1994 infuriated the big man, ended their partnership and altered the course of WWE history. Just three days later, Diesel demolished Bob Backlund in eight seconds to capture the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Madison Square Garden.

After a championship reign that lasted close to a year, Nash began to plan his exit from WWE. Following an infamous MSG moment known as “The Curtain Call,” where he, Razor Ramon, Michaels and Triple H let the WWE Universe in on their close friendship, Nash joined Ramon (aka Scott Hall), wreaking havoc on the Atlanta-based WCW. The two shocked the world when they convinced Hulk Hogan to ditch his trademark red and yellow and turn to the dark side. The three formed the notorious New World Order and ran roughshod over WCW.

As The nWo grew and split into separate factions, so did Nash’s trophy case. He and Hall captured the WCW Tag Team Titles before the big man branched out on his own. One of Nash’s crowning moments came at Starrcade 1999, when he (with an assist from Hall) ended Goldberg’s 173-match winning streak to take the WCW World Championship.

Nash held the WCW title four more times before the company was sold to WWE in early 2001. One year later, he reunited with Hall and Hogan to bring The nWo’s brand of carnage to WWE. Eventually, the outlaw band dissolved and Nash set his sights on former friend Triple H and the World Heavyweight Championship, even clashing with The Game inside Hell in a Cell.

Though his appearances in WWE have become more sporadic over the years, Nash still pops in from time to time to let the world know that Big Daddy Cool can still hang, whether it’s donning his Diesel gear to enter the Royal Rumble Match or reuniting with his Kliq buddies. Now, he will be immortalized in sports-entertainment history as a member of the WWE Hall of Fame.

Tickets for the 2015 WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony are on sale now at Ticketmaster.com, the SAP Center box office, and by calling 800-745-3000. The ceremony will also air live this Saturday on WWE Network, starting with the Red Carpet Special at 7/6 C!

WWE Officials Reportedly Discuss Perro Aguayo Jr. Tragedy, Rumor On RAW Being Dedicated Tonight

0

WWE officials had talks this weekend about opening tonight’s RAW from Los Angeles with a graphic dedicating the show to Perro Aguayo Jr., who tragically passed away after an in-ring accident with Rey Mysterio at an indie wrestling event in Mexico on Friday night, according to Reddit user MetsFan4Ever, who has broke several WWE stories in the past year or so.

The report stated that there was strong talk between WWE producer Kevin Dunn, Triple H and Vince McMahon. Apparently one of those three officials were in heavy favor of dedicating RAW to Perro but the other two were not. It was not specified which official was in favor of the dedication.

There was also reportedly discussion of bringing light to the situation because a former top WWE Superstar was involved in the accident. WWE officials are said to be sensitive to the idea of dedicating RAW to Perro because they feel it may bring wrongful negative attention to Mysterio.

RAW being dedicated to Perro Jr. should be taken as a rumor for now. It was noted that RAW will likely end up airing without the dedication but it has been a topic of discussion this weekend. It was also noted that if they do go through with the dedication, it would just be in the form of a graphic at the start of the show and all storylines would be kept as planned.

Dean Ambrose On If Roman Reigns Can Handle The WrestleMania Main Event, Fixing The IC Title, More

0

Source: DC 101

Mike Jones of DC 101 spoke with Dean Ambrose, who talked about how the Intercontinental Championship ladder match could steal the show this Sunday, not being afraid of the ladder match, if the Undertaker will be ready, Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns and more. You can listen to the full interview below, here are some highlights:

How the Intercontinental Championship ladder match could be the best match at WrestleMania 31:

“When you add in the guys that are in the match, and the stage that it’s on, WrestleMania, and it’s a lot of guys with a lot of chips on their shoulder this year that have worked hard for this moment. We’re all going to do our best to shine and steal the show, and when you get into a ladder match, that’s a lot of tools to work with.”

Bringing the Intercontinental Championship back to being a major part of WWE:

“To me, I think it’s very easy to remedy. If I’m the Intercontinental Champion, or Dolph Ziggler, or Daniel Bryan is the Intercontinental Champion. To me it’s like, any one of those three are the best wrestlers on the planet and can main event any show in the world with the Intercontinental Championship match.”

Not worried about it being a ladder match:

“The adrenaline in front of 70,000 people is pretty indescribable, you pretty much do anything. I’ve done some of the worst, most abusive things to my body and taken the biggest risks you can possibly imagine for almost no money on very small stages for no other reason than just because.”

If Roman Reigns can handle being in the main event against Brock Lesnar:

“There’s no way to prepare for a situation like that other than experience and the only way you get experience is by experiencing stuff. I think he’ll be fine. That’s a hell of a position to be put in, main event of WrestleMania, considering he’s only been wrestling since 2010 or 11, that’s the first time he stepped in the ring. So if you consider the learning curve that he’s had to deal with it’s amazing that’s he at this point. Only way you find out if you’re ready to do anything is just to do it!”
