0

Thanks to JJ for the following WWE NXT spoilers from tonight’s tapings at Full Sail University:

April 29th Episode:

* NXT Champion Kevin Owens kicks off the show with a promo. General Manager William Regal interrupts and says Owens doesn’t run the show, Mr. Regal does. Sami Zayn comes out and we’ve got a match for the May 20th Takeover event. Owens wants it to be non-title but Sami is berating him trying to get the title shot. They agree and it will be a title match.

* Enzo Amore and Big Cass defeated NXT Tag Team Champions Blake and Murphy in a non-title match.

* Dana Brooke defeated Bayley when Emma came out to Bayley’s music and distracted her.

* Adam Rose vs. Hideo Itami is next. Itami wins by pinfall.

* Becky Lynch quickly defeated an enhancement talent named Sarah Thompson by submission. This appeared to be one of the new recruits.

* Sami Zayn defeated Alex Riley by DQ when Kevin Owens hit him from behind. Owens then hit a powerbomb on Riley.

May 6th Episode:

* Charlotte defeated Emma by pinfall. Emma worked as a vicious heel. Bayley came out after the match and offered Emma a hug but held onto her and hit the Hugplex. Charlotte tried to hold Bayley back but she snapped and has had enough of Emma’s taunting.

* Rhyno defeated Bull Dempsey with a Gore. Rhyno cut a promo after the match and said he wants Baron Corbin at Takeover.

* Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder come out for a match against Enzo and Cass but they don’t show. The cameras cut backstage and they were laid out by Blake and Murphy.

* William Regal is out for a Takeover contract signing segment between Becky Lynch and NXT Women’s Champion Sasha Banks. Becky tells her career story and Sasha uses her stamp to sign the contract. Sasha then attacks Becky but Becky gets the upperhand before referees break it up.

* Finn Balor comes out in a suit to do commentary for the next match, Hideo Itami vs. Tyler Breeze. Itami gets the win with a Shotgun kick. After the match, Breeze jumps Itami but Balor makes the save. Breeze then takes them both out with a superkick on Balor and a Beauty Shot to Itami.

May 13th Episode:

* Bayley defeated Jessi McKay with a Hugplex. Jessi was one of the talents just announced as a new recruit this month.

* Solomon Crowe vs. Baron Corbin is next. Crowe has a new theme song. Corbin wins by pinfall and Rhyno comes out after the match. They start brawling and security tries to hold them back. Rhyno hits Gores on a few security guards and the rest run away.

* Sasha Banks defeated another debuting enhancement talent by submission, possibly new recruit Cassie McIntosh.

* Alexa Bliss defeated Carmella after Blake and Murphy distracted Carmella by trying to get her attention. They try to pick her up but she cuts a promo on them and says Enzo and Cass will take the titles at Takeover.

* Kalisto defeated Tye Dillinger by pinfall.

* Sami Zayn comes out for a promo but before he can speak out comes Kevin Owens. Sami cuts him down and asks why is he jealous and asks if it’s because Owens’ son would rather wear a Sami t-shirt than a KO t-shirt. Owens says he knows Sami is hurt and at Takeover, he’s going to hurt him again but this time Sami won’t be able to come back.

* Finn Balor and Hideo Itami vs. Adam Rose and Tyler Breeze is next. Breeze gets the pin on Itami. Balor and Hideo weren’t on the same page. Tyler kicks Rose post-match. It appears they were building to a three-way.

Coming out of tonight’s WWE NXT TV tapings, here’s what looks to be the card for the May 20th Takeover special from Full Sail University. The only confirmed matches are the three title matches and Rhyno vs. Baron Corbin.

NXT Women’s Title Match
Becky Lynch vs. Sasha Banks

Triple H Talks About The Notion That He Buries People, More

0

Triple H appeared on an episode of the Tim Ferriss Show to discuss his diet, workout and mentality for the Four Hour Work Week website. In addition to those topics, he also spoke about the notion that he “buries” people.

“That’s one of the terms, ‘he buried him.’ It’s a show. Comic books, soap opera, TV drama, it never ends. They get so upset in the moment of thinking that it’s the end of the chapter. There’s another chapter tomorrow. They don’t understand the complexities of what goes on behind the scenes,” said Triple H

Triple H had been speaking about common misconceptions about himself and the WWE, and would go on to mention that people who hate wrestling will probably hate it no matter what, and people who like it will continue to like it no matter what.

You can listen to the full podcast at this link. Triple H also speaks about moves he won’t take in the ring, his relationship with Vince McMahon, and how he decided to switch his training up after sustaining a severe injury a few years ago.

Kevin Nash Says Undertaker Almost Joined WCW In 2000, Scott Hall Rips Jericho, More

Source: Sports Illustrated

Scott Hall, Sean Waltman and Kevin Nash recently spoke with Sports Illustrated, and had choice words for the likes of Chris Jericho, in addition to talking about the Kliq and Undertaker. Here are a few highlights:

Kevin Nash says Undertaker almost came to WCW in 2000:

“We had ‘Taker close. All of a sudden he wasn’t the Deadman. He became the American Badass for a reason. That Deadman wasn’t going to f—kin’ come to WCW. He would have been the biker character and gone by Mark Callaway. All along, I was trying to get guys money, and what happened was Vince started giving huge guarantees to the Shawns and Undertakers and those guys and said, ‘I can’t lose my core guys.'”

Scott Hall’s choice words for Jericho:

“Jericho’s just a whining p–sy. If you have any talent, you can’t be held back and you can’t be held down. Jericho just whines and whines. He’s gone on to be tremendously successful, and he’s still got a hard on for us. I don’t get it, but nobody makes headlines for saying, ‘Those guys are great guys. You talk about what d—-ks we are, and then some guy sits down and interviews you.”

Waltman follows up on Jericho:

“Jericho realized, once he got to WWE, ‘Holy s—, I don’t know what the f—ck I’m doing here. That’s why Vince made him come to me and run his matches by me, even when he was working with Boss Man or something. You think you know, until you finally know.”

Nash on the Kliq:

“These guys are my brothers, When you take the five guys who are considered ‘The Kliq’, it’s the three of us who have spent the most time together. I always know what’s going on in their life. It’s never more than a month that we sit down somewhere and catch up. In this business, that’s almost unheard of.”

Backstage Update On TNA Pay Issues, Some Checks $1000 Short

0

Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

Talk of pay issues within TNA continue as The Wrestling Observer Newsletter has confirmed details originally broke by Brian Fritz of The Sporting News. As of this past weekend, TNA’s production crew were more than two months late on pay. They had not been paid for the February pay-per-view tapings or any events since then.

To add to that, workers received pay in April for the January UK tour, which was almost 70 days late when they’re supposed to be paid within 30 days. Not only were those checks issued late, they were shorted on average of $1,000 per person.

To make things worse, the production crew found out that TNA talents were finally being paid for the March tapings while production hadn’t been paid for February yet. TNA had similar pay issues in 2014 that were more significant but one production worker noted that this is the third year in a row where there were issues at one point or another with late payments. While they have dealt with late payments before, being shorted money on a check is a new problem and likely was a big morale killer.

– Regarding Larry Zbyszko’s 2015 WWE Hall of Fame speech, Bruno Sammartino did get him started in pro wrestling and the stories about him stalking Bruno in his yard were true, Larry’s actual main trainer was Newton Tattrie (Geto Mongol).

– We noted before that Hulk Hogan and WWE raised $150,000 for Connor’s Cure charity this past weekend. The money was raised when Hogan auctioned off a 1969 Chevy Camaro Z-28 in South Florida. The car was donated by the SJO Foundation for Hope. The money was raised and distributed to three charities of Hogan’s choice, one of which was Connor’s Cure.

– The WWE contracts of Vito LoGrasso and Evan Singleton have been released as part of their current lawsuit against the company. Big Vito’s main roster talent contract included a $75,000 downside guarantee and Singleton’s developmental contract was for $31,000 per year but he was also given $2,000 in moving expenses when he moved from Pennsylvania to Florida. Vito’s cuts of house shows and pay-per-view events were left up to WWE but licensing products based around him saw him receive 25% of the net sales and products such as DVDs where the talent was the featured performer saw them receive 5% of the total sales.

Backstage Update On Daniel Bryan Being Injured, Possibly Missing WWE’s Payback PPV

0

As previously reported, Daniel Bryan reportedly suffered some sort of injury at the April 9th WWE live event in Dublin, Ireland. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that Bryan was hurt in the March 31st SmackDown match with Sheamus and was banged up going into the European tour. The April 9th injury likely just made things worse and caused Bryan to be sent home from the tour a few days later.

A company source noted to The Wrestling Observer that Bryan was expected to be out for five weeks so either way it looks like he will be missing the May 17th Payback pay-per-view. WWE has not officially said whether or not Bryan will be defending his Intercontinental Title against Bad News Barrett at Extreme Rules on Sunday but it doesn’t look to be the case.
