WWE Could Renew CM Punk’s Contract Without His Permission

0

According to a new report in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there might be a way for WWE to renew CM Punk’s contract with, or without his permission.

There is a clause in each Superstar’s contract that states the WWE may be able to renew a deal if the wrestler has been injured for a period of time, and the company feels they owe them dates they were previously unable – or “unwilling” in Punk’s case – to work. As we reported earlier, there is precedent for the idea, as Vince McMahon recently renewed Rey Mysterio’s contract when it was set to expire, as Mysterio has missed most of the last year due to multiple injuries.

The plus side to this for WWE is that it keeps CM Punk from working for any other company while he is under contract to them. The downside is that they would have to continue to pay him during that period of time. It might be worth it from their end, but we should know one way or the other in July when his contract officially expires.

– It’s announced that Bray Wyatt vs. Dean Ambrose in a Money In the Bank qualifier will take place later tonight.

* Erick Rowan defeated Jey Uso. It’s reported that Uso appeared to be hurt, but was likely just selling.

* Bo Dallas defeated R-Truth with the Bo-dog. The crowd was supposedly “really into the match”.

* Paul Heyman comes out and talks about The Streak ending. Cesaro says he’s here to fight. Sheamus interrupts them for a non-title match that was described as an awesome physical match. Cesaro won with a small package.

* Adam Rose defeated Fandango with his finisher. Summer Rae was dressed up as one of the Rosebuds and attacked Layla, beating her up pretty bad.

Two Active Names Moved to ‘Alumni’ Section of WWE.com

0

Both Brad Maddox and Brie Bella have been moved to the alumni section of WWE.com. Both stars were recently let go on WWE television – Brie after she quit to save Daniel Bryan, and Maddox after being fired by Stephanie McMahon – but there has yet to be an official announcement on either. Most assumed that, at the very least, Brie quitting the company was done as a work to further the WWE World Heavyweight Championship angle, but this may not be the case.

MVP Injured, Removed From PPV Main Event; MVP Comments

0

The following release was sent out by ImpactWrestling.com this morning, in regards to the TNA World Heavyweight Championship match scheduled for this Sunday’s Slammiversary PPV:

BREAKING NEWS: MVP OUT OF SLAMMIVERSARY

Just reported by Executive Vice President of Creative and Talent Relations John Gaburick, MVP has been declared medically unfit to compete. This obviously removes MVP from Sunday’s Slammiversary Pay-Per-View, where he was scheduled to compete against Eric Young inside of a steel cage for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.

MVP, also the Director of Wrestling Operations at TNA Wrestling, is expected to announce a replacement opponent later today. Stay tuned to IMPACTWrestling.com for news as we get it.

This falls in line with what we have been reporting for the last several days. One of the names TNA has been talking about, as far as a replacement goes, is Bobby Lashley. However, Lashley is already scheduled to face Samoa Joe at the PPV, so the card may have to be re-worked to accommodate the injury.

On a side note, an extremely similar situation occurred just a few weeks ago at the UFC 173 PPV, as the show lost several of its main event fights with very little time to move things around. Raphael Assuncao was scheduled to face Renan Barao for the Bantamweight Championship, while two potential future contenders – TJ Dillashaw and Takeya Mizugaki – were booked on the undercard. Dillashaw was called up at the last minute, and ended up actually winning the title in the show’s main event.

MVP posted the following on Twitter this morning, after it was announced that he suffered an injury serious enough to be pulled from the TNA World Heavyweight Championship match at Slammiversary this Sunday.

My knee injury is legit. I’m very disappointed by the timing of this injury and the unfortunate repercussions that accompany it.
Now to “business”. I’m still the Director of Wrestling Operations for TNA. AND…. “the board of directors” want a FAIR main event match!

Curt Hawkins, who was released earlier today, took offense to Henry’s tweet and wrote, “Your colleagues lose their jobs & you tweet that? You’re an idiot Mark.”

Shane “Hurricane” Helms Gives Advice To Released Superstars

0

Former WWE Superstar Shane “Hurricane” Helms tweeted some advice to the released WWE talents today:

“To newly released talents, embrace your freedom. The Indy scene is on FIRE and is in fact home to the best wrestling in the world.”

“The WWE is the biggest “stage” for pro wrestling but the “best” wrestling I’ve seen in the last years has been on the Indy’s. Good luck!!”

“My point being, I know some of the guys might be a little scared and depressed but rest assured there’s life after WWE, I promise you.”

“And that’s NOT a knock on WWE at all. But WWE is just one wrestling company, there’s plenty of other great wrestling out there.”

“Don’t forget that WWE just had a stock market nightmare recently. These releases don’t necessarily reflect anyone’s level of talent.”
