The WWE Raw Report 8/10/15 – Triple Threat: Orton vs. Cesaro vs. Owens

WWE Raw Preshow Notes 8/10/15

– Stanford, Graves & Otunga immediately stink it up per usual with lousy quips. Stephen Amell is at Raw tonight, so there’s no doubt this Stardust crap is happening… Also tonight it’s Team Bella vs. Team BAD in a 6-woman tag… And Daniel Bryan on MizTV, so I can only imagine this is some sort of crap segment to push Tough Enough or some other WWE project…

– We look into what happened with Rollins and Cena, and Rollins’ title match last week with Neville. Close call. They also talk Cena’s broken nose.

– Sasha Banks made Paige tap last week. Naomi also won a match last week. Team BAD is in good positioning. Sasha Banks joins the preshow via phone. You’re not missing anything…

– This show has REALLY become pointless. If they spend $20 on production for this, then they’re wasting their money. They could have a one man crew recap this crap in 5 minutes.

– Jojo is with Mark Henry at Raw. He has an American flag in hand and one stitched onto his singlet… He’s disgusted by his loss to Rusev last week, he let everyone down. But tonight he seeks revenge for the USA… Didn’t we already see this whole thing last fall?

– Recap of the Wyatt Family / Reigns & Ambrose feud. It’s Harper vs. Ambrose on Raw tonight, because we haven’t seen that before…

– Daniel Bryan on MixTV. Tough Enough, Autobiography, another project? You best believe this segment is merely to promote something “worthwhile”. They’re in Washington so I guess why not.

– It wouldn’t be the preshow without noting that Stephen Amell is here tonight. Stardust’s promos from last week plays where he mocks Neville’s loss to Rollins, and mocks Amell. They spend way too much time hyping this crap. Can’t you wait to hear how “over” this segment is? T

That wraps the preshow up kiddies, which leaves me already asking myself— “Why bother?”.

The WWE Raw Report 8/10/15 from from the Xfinity Arena in Everett, Washington

Seth Rollins In-Ring Promo

– WWE World Champion Seth Rollins to the ring all by his lonesome. Ugh. This feels like early 2000’s HHH hour all over again with these long-winded going-nowhere promos… This promo is what you’d expect. Seth mocks John Cena for failing to answer his challenge for Summer Slam. If Cena doesn’t accept then he should forfeit the US Title to Seth. Rollins says either way he will walk out of Slam the first man ever to hold both of those titles at the same time. Seth mocks Cena for not being at Raw, but he will be on Tough Enough tomorrow, how ironic since Cena isn’t “Tough Enough”. We learn that Cena is here… VIA SATELLITE.

In actuality it’s just a picture of Cena with a broken nose and someone’s mouth (Seth’s?) moving and mocking Cena. Do these things ever work? This “Cena” makes fun of himself. The crowd groans at most of this shit…

Rollins is interrupted (finally) by Cesaro…. Cesaro is sick of hearing Rollins go on and on and on and on and on… At least he gets it… Cesaro wants to be the next for the Open Challenge for the WWE Title. Rollins explains that the open challenge was last week and Cesaro has done nothing to deserve a shot.

Kevin Owens interrupts. He points out the “Cesaro Section” signs in a heelish manner, just to promote them, lol… Owens runs down Cesaro. Then KO points out that Seth tapped to Cena 2 weeks ago. Owens has beaten Cena so he deserves the shot… Seth isn’t offering a shot…

Cue Randy Orton! Orton mocks KO for being fat. #BeAStar Randy. Orton deserves the shot… Presumably because he’s Randy Orton. But Seth says he isn’t defending against anyone, he doesn’t care what the Authority thinks…

Cue HHH… HHH claims Cena is 50/50 at best to make it to Summer Slam. HHH announces a Triple Threat Match tonight with Cesaro vs. Orton vs. Owens. The winner will meet Seth Rollins for the WWE Title in tonight’s Main Event.

And we’ve got Divas action next.

— Commercial Break —

1. Team Bella (Bellas & Foxy) vs. Team B.A.D. (Sasha Banks, Naomi, Tamina)

Team PCB (formerly the Sorority Sisters) are on commentary. Don’t they pay people to come up with shit better than that? Foxy looks good early on Nay-Nay. Bellas look sloppy, especially Brie. Naomi jiggles her ass in Nikki’s face to gain control… No, seriously…. Crowd chanting “We want Sasha” and Banks tags in briefly. Some miscommunication between Nikki and Naomi leads to some sloppy work, but Nikki lands a Disaster Kick on Naomi as we head to break…

Back from break, Sasha has control of Nikki and plays heel up well knocking Brie off the apron. Crowd eating up Banks. A quick replay shows Tamina stomp Nikki’a head off during the break. Finally a hot tag to Brie. Brie knocks Tamina off the apron and lands the YES! kicks on Banks. Naomi then knocked off the apron. Brie with her shtick, the missile dropkick, etc… Brie goes for the Brie Mode knee, but misses a blind tag to Tamina who clotheslines Brie’s face off… Tamina knocks Nikki and Fox off the apron and throws a Superkick at Brie, but Brie ducks and rolls Tamina up for the Team Bella win in 9:00.

Team BAD beats down Team Bella afterwards, Team PCB breaks it up and it turns into a 9 woman brawl with women getting tossed out all sides of the ring, eventually leaving Charlotte standing tall for a moment… Then Team BAD and Team PCB get in each other’s faces before realizing Team Bella is smiling and celebrating their win at ringside.

— Commercial Break —

– So celebrity Stephen Amell is in the front row… Way to be a guest.

2. New Day (Kofi & Big E w/Xavier) vs. Los Matadores w/Torito

Apparently Summer Slam is 2 weeks away and we still have no challengers for the Tag Titles. Are you shocked? Look at the division. Big E mauls over a Matador and New Day beat his ass down in their corner. Prime Time Players are shown taking notes and scouting in the back? Taking notes? Yeah, I remember when Ax and Smash took notes. This match is all New Day beating down on one of the Matadores, but the announcers never bother to learn Primo from Epico, or whatever their “Mexican” names are… Big splash from Big E gets 2. A couple of false hot tags leads to E hitting his shoulder on the post and we learn it’s Diego who tags out… Sp I guess it’s Fernando tagging in. Woods tries to cheat for New Day so they do a spot where Diego aids Torito in landing a huracan rana on Woods on the floor. Back in the ring Big E gets a blind tag from Kofi and E drops Fernando with the Big Ending for the win in 4:00.

New Day celebrate. Big E does a ridiculous dance that lands somewhere between a stripper with no rhythm and a pervert.

I hope the PTP took some great notes…

— Commercial Break —

– New Day celebrate backstage. Apparently beating Los Matadores has earned them a shot at the tag titles at Summer Slam. Renee Young interrupts to inform New Day that the PTP will defend the tag titles at Summer Slam against New Day…. Los Matadores… and Lucha Dragons… Apparently no Ascension. lol… New Day question why Men on a Mission or Harlem Heat weren’t added, but accept the announcement.

– Backstage it’s HHH and Seth Rollins. HHH tells Seth he opened this Open Challenge door last week and if he wants to prove he’s the man he will have to do it every night. Seth agrees finally and says if Cena can do it every week, he can do it too, only better.

– We go back to Smackdown where Reigns & Ambrose challenge Wyatt and Harper for Summer Slam. Wyatt accepts.

– Triple Threat match is next.

— Commercial Break —

3. Randy Orton vs. Kevin Owens vs. Cesaro

Apparently this is a NO DQ MATCH… I missed that… Winner meets Rollins in the main event. Not sure how that’s fair, but let’s see what happens… We get a shoving match to start, the two faces go after Owens so KO takes a powder… Owens runs from Cesaro but runs into a clothesline from Orton on the floor… Back in the ring Cesaro tries the Swing on Owens but has to settle for a Double Stomp for two… Orton comes in and lands a t-bone suplex on Cesaro, Owens then with a senton on Cesaro but stands up right into a T-bone on Owens from Orton… Randy tries the suspension DDT on Cesaro but Cesaro counters looking for the Cesaro Swing… Owens pulls Cesaro outside. Orton joins them. KO suplexes Cesaro gut first on the barricade. Orton then back suplexes Owens onto the barricade and brings him back inside for 2…

Lots of forearm uppercuts from everyone as they trade shots. Owens gets knocked to the floor and Orton lands his backbreaker on Cesaro for 2… More uppercut exchanges from Orton and Cesaro this time. Cesaro counters the RKO into the Crossface!!! Orton reaches the ropes, but there are no DQ’s, so Randy rolls to the floor to escape. Owens sends Cesaro outside and lands a over the top rope somersault senton dive onto Orton and Cesaro as we head to break…

Back from break, Orton is MIA as Owens lands the Cannonball on Cesaro in the corner. KO goes to the top but s cut off from Orton. Orton gets knocked off the ropes but Cesaro dropkicks KO on the top rope. Cesaro and Orton DOUBLE SUPERPLEX ON OWENS… But Orton & Cesaro immediately go at it, trading shots… CESARO SWING and the SHARPSHOOTER applied on Orton… Randy reaches the ropes but no break… KO breaks up the hold. More back and forth spots leads to Orton landing a DOUBLE Suspension DDT on both.

Cesaro counters an RKO and Orton gets pulled outside where KO hits a Fall Away Slam on Orton into the barricade… Cesaro then with a Suicide dive onto Owens outside… Back in the ring near falls between KO and Cesaro. Cesaro with a springboard reverse flying uppercut… Awesome… Near fall… Crowd is SOOO behind this!

Cesaro has Owens on the top rope… Cesaro knocked off, SENTON OFF THE TOP BY OWENS… but Cesaro gets his knees up!!! Cesaro up but right into an Owens Superkick. Owens for the POP UP POWERBOMB! Cesaro jumps over, Orton sneaks in with an RKO on Owens… RKO on Cesaro… And Cesaro does the job for Randall after 18:08… AWESOME MATCH… Jesus, save shit like this for PPV…

– Backstage promo from Reigns and Ambrose. Ambrose will face Harper tonight.

— Commercial Break —

– Okay, so neither of our Summer Slam main event competitors are at Raw this week, so we get a “build up” video instead. Nothing says big fight feel like a video package…

We learn that Brock and Taker will both be at the Go-Home Raw show next week. Well I’d hope so…

– Dean Ambrose headed to ringside.

— Commercial Break —

4. Dean Ambrose (w/Roman Reigns) vs. Luke Harper (w/Bray Wyatt)

Byron Saxton runs off from commentary after talking crap on the Wyatts and the Wyatts run him off so Bray can take his seat. Harper takes control early and lands the spinning side slam for 2. Dean low bridges and Luke spills to the floor. Ambrose with a running baseball slide kick and then a running flying elbow attack off the apron. We head to commercial.

Back from break, Harper catapults Dean into the middle rope. Crowd wants Wyatt to kill Saxton. Harper nails Snake Eyes on the middle buckle for 2. Dean battles back with a Tornado DDT and both men are down. Dean makes a comeback, Harper blocks Dirty Deeds and tries a powerbomb. Ambrose counters the powerbomb, Harper misses a big boot and the match goes to the floor… Ambrose sends Wyatt over the announce table and lays Harper out with a nasty clothesline in the ring… Outside Wyatt comes after Dean but eats a Reigns SUPERMAN PUNCH… Harper than lays Reigns out with a Superkick… But Ambrose with a suicide dive out onto Harper…

Back inside, Ambrose goes to the top rope but hets knocked off. Harper with a DISCUS CLOTHESLINE TO THE THROAT!!!! FUCK! 1….2…..3… Harper wins in 10:37.

– Time to hit the pisser… MIZ-TV is next.

— Commercial Break —

MizTV with Daniel Bryan, Big Show / Ryback Returns!

– The Miz points out Stephen Amell (wouldn’t this feud have made more sense?), Miz rips on Amell but then brings out Daniel Bryan. The Miz gets sick of the fans chanting because he has a show to run. It’s back and forth jabs. Miz takes credit for Bryan having a career. Bryan mocks the movies Miz makes. Bryan says his accomplishments are because of himself and his fans, not Miz. Miz mocks Bryan for not being cleared to wrestle and being injured because Miz has never been injured. Miz says Bryan sits around doing nothin… This is where Bryan puts over his new book and judging on Tough Enough… Miz is ALSO a judge on Tough Enough… Ugh. Miz talks about Bryan being injured and vacating the IC Title. He says Ryback should do the same thing, vacate the title and give it to Miz…

Big Show interrupts, he dresses down Miz and Bryan… Fans chant “Please Retire”. Show says find someone to retire him…

RYBACK returns… Miz leaves the ring… Bryan leaves the ring… It’s just Ryback and Show. Miz eggs it on from the floor. DANIEL BRYAN THROWS MIZ INTO THE RING RIGHT BETWEEN THE TWO…. Big Show mauls both men into the corner and throws Miz across the ring. Ryback then smashes them both into the far corner… Meathook on Big Show…. Show is gone. Bryan gets behind Ryback as the fans chant YES as Ryback sizes Miz up… Meathook kills Miz…

Segment over… Ryback returns.

— Commercial Break —

– We return with a video package of Charlotte. We learn there’s a Divas 3-Team Elimination match at Summer Slam with PCB, B.A.D., and the Bellas.

5. Rusev (w/Summer Rae) vs. Mark Henry

Lana on commentary say Dolph will be back AFTER Summer Slam. We’ll see. Henry to the ring with a giant American flag. Henry mauls over Rusev early. Summer Rae tries to distract on the apron. Rusev lands the jumping side kick to Mark. Lana yanks Summer off the apron but Summer throws Lana into the ring. Rusev stares down Lana while Summer attacks and this match is called a DQ in like 50 seconds…

Rusev goes outside and posts Henry like a bitch… USA all the way baby. Summer drops Lana and Rusev tells Rae to CRUSH Lana. Summer puts Lana in the Accolade…. The flag drops but now it’s a Bulgarian flag with Rusev’s face on it… WTF happened to Russia? I’m totally lost.

– We go back to last week’s storyline with Neville, but it’s done like a COMIC BOOK. UGH. It’s actually kind of cool, or at least different, if only it meant more… Neville almost wins the WWE Title. Stardust mocks the loss. Stephen Amell is at ringside shaking his head at Stardust’s behavior… Neville is up next on Raw so here comes that segment…

— Commercial Break —

6. Neville vs. King Bloody Barrett

Now don’t forget Stephen Amell is in the front row, because the announcers won’t let you. Same old matches, blah. Barrett with a slingshot backbreaker that gets zero response. Barrett props Nevill across the top rope and beats him down. Wade misses a knee in the corner, Neville with a jumping kick and Red Arrow ends this in 1:07. There’s your King of the Ring fans…

Stardust IMMEDIATELY ATTACKS NEVILLE. Cody lays out Neville and then confronts Amell at ringside. He gets in the face of Amell and pie faces him into his seat… Amell hops the barricade, hops the top rope like a pro and SPEARS Stardust to the mat… Amell starts pounding on Stardust until security rips Amell off. Security back Amell into the corner while Stardust & Barrett leave together… Neville nods at Amell in the ring. Stephen leaves on his own, looks like he’s going back to his seat or whatever….. Please God Stardust is enough, PLEASE NO WADE BARRETT in this match at Summer Slam…

On the plus side, if you want to call it that, Amell looked like he’d be able to pull something half way decent off based on his agility.

— Commercial Break —

– Backstage, HHH is with Stephen Amell & Neville. HHH is yelling at Amell for getting involved. He is just a spectator. Amell wants a piece of Stardust. Neville suggests he and Amell vs. Stardust & Barrett at Slam… HHH says Amell will never be “one of them” he is just an actor… Amell says he’s a man and will sign wavers so WWE has no responsibility for anything that happens. HHH agrees and thinks Amell will get his ass kicked. HHH tells Amell not to bring a stunt double…. The match is signed and Barrett gets slid into it by de facto.

The WWE Network…. is free….. AGAIN…. Why do I even bother paying?

– Backstage, Jojo interviews Sheamus. As the MITB holder, Sheamus wants to know who he should root for in the main event. Orton or Rollins. Sheamus makes a joke that I don’t even get then makes an awkward laugh. Sheamus reminds us of his briefcase he plans to cash in at just the right time. He teases that could be tonight. Sheamus also now has his nose pierced on top of the mohawk and braided beard… Can he look more stupid?

— Commercial Break —

7. WWE World Champion Seth Rollins vs. Randy Orton

Rollins runs from Randy early and often… Seth does the Shawn Michaels flip into the corner and turns right into an RKO, but Seth escapes at the last second and rolls back to the floor as we head to break.

Back from final break, Seth has the dreaded chinlock hooked on tight. Randy breaks but Seth hits that spin around sit-out clothesline thingy and a neckbreaker. Rollins tries a dive out onto Randy but is met with a fist and Orton takes over. Rollins counters the backbreaker but Randy still hits his powerslam for 2. Rollins escapes the Suspension DDT and grabs his belt to leave ringside… Orton stops him and clotheslines Rollins over the barricade. Orton back suplexes Rollins onto the announce table before they go back to the ring. Rollins hooks the tights with a roll up and nearly steals it. Orton tries a roll up and only gets 2 as well.. Rollins then Superkicks Randy right in the face. Oww. Trying to break another nose?

Rollins goes to the top but Orton crotches him. Top rope SUPERPLEX from Randy. Seth tries to sneak a Pedigree but gets backdropped, only lands on his feet… Orton tries a Suspension DDT but gets taken to the apron… ROLLINS THEN HITS ORTON WITH THE SUSPENSION DDT!!!! Damn. What a heel.

Rollins then mocks Orton, stalking Randy, looking for the Pedigree, they blow a backdrop spot… They get it on the second time, Rollins gets backdropped to the apron… Rollins with a SPRINGBOARD INTO AN RKO!!!! 1………………………..2…………………………..SHEAMUS PULLS ORTON OUTSIDE!!!! Randy gets the DQ win. Lame. 13:33. Sheamus costs Orton the title!!!

Sheamus drops Orton and then lays Rollins out with the BROGUE KICK!!!! SHEAMUS WANTS TO CASH IN… Rollins laid out… Sheamus hands the referee the MITB briefcase, he’s ready to cash in!!! But Sheamus TURNS INTO AN RKO!!!! Now Orton costs Sheamus the WWE Title…

Orton stands over Sheamus to end the show…

For those wondering if you should watch… The triple threat match is MUST SEE… The Rollins and Orton match was pretty good as well. Harper and Ambrose wasn’t amazing but it was stiff and solid. The rest was blah.

On the heels of the recent Hulk Hogan controversy, Kamala comes out in defense of the beleaguered Hogan and offers a different perspective on the racial insensitivity portrayed in the wrestling business. As an African-American wrestler Kamala has endured racism while competing in some of the biggest territories across The United States but it never stopped James Harris from entertaining and doing what he loves most, wrestling. We also analyze some of Kamala’s greatest matches and moments as covered in his book: Kamala Speaaks with Co-Author, Kenny Cassanova.

WWE Legend Kamala SAYS Hulk Hogan is Not Racist. Look AT Vince McMahon:

Is the response to the Hulk Hogan Controversy accurate:

The way I see it is, I didn’t see it like that when I was growing up. But over the years, I guess I’m more mature and the way I see it now is we have our little things that we say about white people. Not that we mean harm by doing it, we do it in privacy. We have little jokes and have fun about it. This is me personally now, I do not think Hogan meant harm by saying that and Hogan is my brother until he decides not to be.

His relationship with The Hulkster and if he ever felt unfairly treated by him:

We had a good relationship. Hogan, he was the World Champion and to me and I’m not knocking any other champions but he was the most re-memorable champion from my point of view that I’ve ever been around. He was not snobby, he would always come to me and I guess that is why we had such good matches. He would always come to me and say “Hey brother what are we gonna do tonight?” Now thats a champion asking me what I want to do and my input and we would put together our match just like that. Hogan would get in that ring and he would sell for me and make it look like I was killing him. I was happy for him to make his comeback. He was just a sweetheart, that’s all I can say. Mostly all the matches I had with Hogan stand out to me. Not because he was the champion, that’s part of it too but he was such a colorful guy. They could hit that music and the people would go wild.

Hogan helping Kamala get into WCW:

He called me up and said “brother, I need you to come down here and work with me and talk to Eric Bischoff about your contract”. I could never get Eric on the phone so I went on anyway without a contract and when I did see Eric and asked him about the contract Eric told me “wait for a while and let me get a good look at you”. Now I’ve been all over the world and if he hadn’t looked at me in all of that time, he wasn’t going to look. But I worked without a contract and I went to Hogan and I said “look brother, I’m going to have to leave here and just go on and be a little old truck driver like I did in 1970 before I got into the business”. He said let me go talk to him, he talked to him and it was just a hair better. The last straw was when they booked me against Randy Savage and they told me they wanted me to put Randy Savage over and I had just got a bad bad paycheck so I told Hogan, brother I’m leaving right now, the money is just not right. I walked out and I haven’t seen Hogan since and that was in 95.

Finding out his pay was drastically smaller compared to his opponents:

Summer Slam 92 that’s when I worked with The Undertaker and we got paid two or three weeks later. Steve Lombardi who was my Kim-Chee, he was a part of the office and could get away with anything, so he went into Pat Patterson’s dressing room and he came back out and he told that he knew how much I made for Summer Slam. He said you made $13,000. I didn’t think that Pat would carry something like that in his book because he was just a booker. He showed it to me that Undertaker made a half million dollars. Steve told me himself that Vince (McMahon) didn’t really like black people and even after Steve told me that Vince always treated me nice, I got along very good with Vince but that was before all the “kayfabing” and Steve told me that he (Vince) wasn’t going to pay you the way he pays a white man. I kind of knew that or believed that anyway but after I found out what The Undertaker made if that was true then I should have definitely made more than that.

An explicit example of comments made by Vince McMahon that could be considered controversial:

There was one time where Chief Jay Strongbow was an agent when I was there and Chief came in and Vince was at one of the shows and he (Chief) was talking to Vince and I was sitting there and he told Vince that he was so full because he stopped at one of those soul-food restaurants and the food was so good. I heard Vince say “well did they shine yours shoes?” So that made me think he was and that was kind of racial.

Did he pull a gun on Andre The Giant after he was called a racial slur in the ring:

I had never wrestled him before and Andre and I were in the ring and there was a spot that the finishes were being told by the referee. I may have gotten a spot mixed up and Andre pulled me up off him and called me a dumb S.O.B and he jumped up and that’s when I beat the hell out of him. Right there in the ring and that was for real. After that, the next night we were wrestling each other in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and I had a .357 magnum and I put it in my pocket and I went over to Andre The Giant in his dressing room, stuck my finger on his nose and he threw up both hands, he didn’t see a gun and said I’m sorry boss, I didn’t mean to say that or do that. After that Andre and I had good matches everywhere we went and we went all over. I never had another problem with Andre.

Kamala also discusses the origins of his gimmick, Jerry Lalwer, loving the Mid-South territory, Skandar Ackbar, working with Daniel Bryan in ROH, his legacy in the business and his autobiography Kamala Speaks.

Frankie Kazarian On How Well He & Christopher Daniels Work As A Team:

The Addiction as a team and the chemistry with Christopher Daniels:

It is hard to put in one short answer. The guy is my best friend, I’ve known him for pretty much the better part of the 17 years of my career. It’s great having somebody that you can rely on not just in the context of a wrestling match but also on the road, traveling here and there. We are best friends, tag team partners, our train of thought is very similar when it comes to wrestling matches and the whole business. It’s a real confidence booster knowing he’s there and takes a lot of stress off knowing how professional he is and knowing where we both are going to need to be. It’s almost like we are on cruise-control at this point, we know each other so well. When it comes to tag team wrestling all those thing make an awesome package.

Being revealed as the KRD, Winning the ROH Tag Titles and what makes this story different:

If I can say that one thing Ring of Honor is not lacking, but is not necessarily focused on is angles like the KRD one and Ring of Honor is top notch in every aspect, especially match quality and there is nothing to compare it to. But, angles being played out like that is something you necessarily saw a lot on Ring of Honor previously and being a fan of cool well put together angles I was psyched to be a part of it. I was thrilled to become tag team champions that way and I hope that now on Destination America we can continue to do some outside-of-the-box kind of things in terms of Ring of Honor’s previous business model.

Any preference to working as a heel or baby face team:

Without question we are in our wheel-house when are bad guys. The act really got some steam when we were doing dastardly things over in TNA in 2012. It really fits our personalities so much better portraying the bad guys, it’s just right and it’s us. We got a lot of real positive reactions when we came to Ring of Honor and I think because people were happy to see us but after a while it’s going to wear off and if any team is going to be the working heels and the bad guys of the company I can’t think of anyone better then Chris Daniels and myself.

Working Samoa Joe’s final Ring of Honor match in NYC with AJ Styles and Daniels:

Those three gentleman stood up with me at my wedding. That says it all right there. Those are three guys that I’ve traveled with and known longer than anyone else in the business and are my three best friends in the business. We all have come up together, all of our families know each other so it was a very special moment. The match we knew match quality wise was going to be there but it was afterwards really taking it in and I got to share the ring one last time with my three best friends in the business for Ring of Honor especially it was really cool and I was very aware because I used to take moments like that in my career for granted. The whole day was a great moment, especially after the match when Ring of Honor gave Joe the sendoff that he so richly deserved.

Samoa Joe succeeding in NXT:

I guess that all depends on how he is utilized. If they know how to use Joe the way that I hope and think that they do then I think he will be very successful. Joe is one of the most unique professional wrestlers to come around in years and he is one of the best, that’s not news and not because he’s a friend it is a fact. In the past in different places Joe has been he wasn’t utilized right and I don’t think that is going to be the case and they are going to use him and let him play to all of his strengths and let him bring out the best in himself and the wrestlers around him and I’m looking forward to it. I hope he really is unleashed and is allowed to be the bad-ass “Samoan-Submission Machine” we all know and love.

Why has John Cena been so successful in WWE & working with him in UPW:

I can tell you this and I lived about two hours from where the (UPW) building was and every time I went to train, there constantly was Samoa Joe and John Cena. Seeing where John is now Ive always said that his best asset was his attitude. If he couldnt out wrestle you he would out work you because his work ethic is second to none. His success doesnt surprise me but maybe the magnitude and the fact he became the global star that he has is pretty astonishing but not surprising. You can like who you like and hate you hate but I can never understand the hatred for this guy. Ive never seen the guy shit the bed in the ring, Ive never seen not elevate the guy hes in the ring with. He is not boring, I dont understand the hate. I get not liking the guy but there are people who just despise him. He is doing something, he is touching some nerve inside you. Im a John Cena fan and I think he is quite good for the professional wrestling business.

Frankie Kazarian also discusses the tag team scene in ROH, his entire TNA run, what he did and didnt like about creative, The management changes of TNA, Hogan and Bischoff coming in, Ric Flair and Fourtune, The Claire Lynch storyline, The X-Divison, Signing with WWE in 05, What led to his release, How all established stars will have to go to NXT, Training with Killer Kowalski, His love of heavy metal and What is next for The Addiction

– We go back to last week and the budding Cena vs. Rollins feud. We get highlights of the promo and match where Rollins obliterates Cena’s nose off his face. Graves repeatedly takes shots at Dana White after the video in regards to White’s recent lambasting of wrestling being “fake”. The panel discusses Cena’s injury as we take a look at some nasty pictures. They admire Cena for working through the injury.

– Next we focus on the recent return of the Undertaker and his wild brawl with Brock Lesnar a couple of weeks ago on Raw. Paul Heyman calls into the preshow. Heyman says he has something to show us on Raw that will show us how desperate the Undertaker is to win this rematch. Heyman then continues on to make the panel look like amateurs as he takes over the interview. Heyman explains his lack of interference is due to him being an advocate and he should not be in the ring with someone like Taker. Brock will handle Taker. Make no mistake, this rematch is strictly for revenge as Brock has nothing he needs to prove.

Following the Heyman promo we’ve got a few minutes left on the preshow, not sure if anything important came of it as my Wifi went down… I’m sure we missed very little…

The WWE Raw Report 8/3/15 from the SAP Center in San Jose, California

– We kick things off with the WWE roster, along with Vince McMahon standing on the entrance stage as the bell toll ten times for Roddy Piper. This is followed by a video package of Roddy to remind us just how many great memories he gave us…

– A we return to the arena, we get Seth Rollins to the ring. Yayyy, what a way to follow up the Piper tribute. We get boring heel promo guy. Hooray… Seth says the only man that can slow him down is himself. Seth says his flaw is sympathy. He talks about shattering Cena’s nose as we get video replay. Rollins blames his sympathy last week for his loss to Cena. The crowd chants “Thank You Rollins” for putting Cena out. This crowd is very anti-Cena. He then mocks Cena’s face and shows pictures of John’s nose under his right eye. lol… Seth asks who wouldn’t feel sympathy for a face like that. He refers to Cena’s face as a cross between a Raccoon and a Picasso. Seth challenges Cena to a rematch at Summer Slam where it would be title vs. title… He says if Cena doesn’t accept, then he can forfeit the title to Seth…. Rollins then announces a WWE WORLD TITLE OPEN CHALLENGE and then says all of Cena’s catch phrases because the CHAMP IS HERE… Seth starts the Open Challenge RIGHT NOW!!! Who will accept the challenge???

— Commercial Break —

– We get a SECOND Rollins interview. Jojo is in the ring with Seth. She wants to know if this challenge is even legitimate. Seth says the only rules are his challenger must be under 6 feet tall and under 200 pounds. Jojo says that brings it down to just El Torito. Seth calls out El Torito…

Torito’s music and graphics play as Seth laughs, but then the music stops… Rollins gets serious as NEVILLE’s music hits… So Jojo and Seth just compared Neville to Torito… Way to spotlight Neville’s size and compare him to a mini. Nice…

1. WWE World Champion Seth Rollins vs. Neville

Seth gets control to begin with your basic heel beat down crap. Neville comes back with some flippies and a big boot. Neville with a flying rana sends SWeth to the floor and then an inside out 180 dive outside onto Seth… Rollins back inside, but Neville with a cross body and they both go over the top rope to the floor… Then Neville up top hits what looks to be a SKY TWISTER PRESS with an added twist off the top rope to the floor onto Rollins… INSANE…. Even the announcers pop… And Neville LANDS ON HIS FEET and absorbs the applause as we go to commercial.

Back from break, we learn that during the commercial Seth knocked Neville off the apron and face first into the announcer’s desk. Seth has control and gets a near fall after that JTG around the body clothesline thingy… Neville catches Seth coming off the top rope into an enzuigiri… Neville with a REVERSES HURACAN RANA, and Seth forgets to flip, lol. NASTY BUMP… Near fall for Neville… Neville lands a German Suplex, a dropkick while Seth is on his knees and then the pure power German Suplex into a bridge gets another near fall… Good stuff… He has no business in a comic book feud…

Neville goes up top for the Red Arrow, but Rollins is up. Seth clotheslines the shit out of Neville and both men are down. Neville counters a Pedigree with a 1………………………….2…………………THREE!!! The ref says no, but THAT WAS FUCKING THREE…. The crowd shits on the count… The replay clearly shows it should have been three… Crazy…. Talk about a “near flal”.

Rollins goes to the top, but Neville goes jumping to the top.. JUMPING TOP ROPE FRANKENSTEINER OFF THE TOP ROPE!!!!!!!! Holy balls….

RED ARROW CONNECTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RED ARROW CONNECTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1……………………………….2……………………………………3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! SETH HAS HIS FOOT ON THE ROPE!!!!

Neville goes up for a second Red Arrow….. But Misses!!! Quick Pedigree by Seth ends it in 13:30. Tons better than I anticipated. Very good match!

Hey Vince, take notice… When you get guys over like this, guys like Cesaro or Neville, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!

— Commercial Break —

2. Lucha Dragons & Los Matadores vs. The Ascension & New Day (Kofi & Big E)

Xavier and Torito in respective corners… The Prime Time Players on commentary for this 8-man. Kofi & Kalisto get flippy with it as things get going, Matadores take over on Kofi and the Ascension. Viktor shoves one of the Matadores off the ropes and to the floor for the heels to take over as we are mercifully given a commercial break…

Back from break, Matador gets a beat down until a hot tag to Cara…. Soon we have guys everywhere. Matadores double suicide dives on Ascension. Sun Cara with a slingshot somersault senton to the FLOOR on Big E. Kalisto goes to the top rope, Woods gets on the apron to distract. Woods kicks Torito away but turns into a kick from Kalisto. As Kalisto turns back towards Kofi, Kingston lands the Trouble In Paradise kick that knocks Kalisto off the top rope for the win in 7:55.

– Divas are next.

— Commercial Break —

– We get a quick inserted promo from the Bellas and Foxy. We get the same from the other group with Paige who are now called the “Submission Sorority”. Lame.

3. Charlotte & Becky Lunch (w/Paige) vs. The Bellas (w/Fox)

Bellas control to start but Lynch takes over with her leg drops. Charlotte tags un and drops the FLAIR KNEE on Brie! WOOOOOO! Nikki gets tagged in after landing a kick to Charlotte from the apron. Nikki wears Charlotte down, Charlotte attempts to come back with the Figure 8, but Nikkie counters and drops Charlotte on her head. The Bellas with some double teaming for 2. Eventually, Lynch gets tagged back in and she locks in the Disarmer on Brie… but Brie finally makes the ropes…. Foxy and the Bellas stand over Lynch outside the ring as she is laid out and we go to break.

Back from break, the Bellas continue to work over Becky. Team BAD watches in the back. Brie Mode knee to the face gets 2. Becky and Brie end up double clotheslining each other and we get hot tags to Nikki & Charlotte. CHOPS… WOOOOO. Light up Nikki. BIG SPEAR from Charlotte, but Brie breaks up the cover. Becky tosses Brie with a T-Bone suplex… Meanwhile, Nikki with a nice Spinebuster on Charlotte. Near fall… Charlotte counters a knee to the face and trips down Nikki to lock on the FIGURE EIGHT… And the Divas champion TAPS OUT in 13:05. WOOOO.

– Backstage Jojo interviews Team BAD in the back. I now realize that Jojo is irritating as all hell. Naomi and Sasha are disgusted with Jojo’s comment about the Paige led group. We learn it’s Naomi vs. Paige later tonight. Blah. Naomi talks trash on Ronda Rousey and says Team BAD are the real baddest women.

– Kevin Owens and Cesaro are on MizTV tonight.

— Commercial Break —

MIZ-TV WITH CESARO AND KEVIN OWENS

– The Miz pays credit to Roddy Piper by wearing a Roddy Piper shirt and giving Piper’s Pit credit as the greatest talk show in wrestling history. Moving on to the segment. Miz talks about the IC Title situation and says Ryback should be a noble champion and foreit the title if he can’t defend. After getting his angle over, Miz brings out Kevin Owens… Lack of response. My how quickly we fall. Owens loves Miz, he owns all of Miz’s movies. We,, at least he knows how to get heat. lol…

Owens talks about Cesaro being jealous of him after what Owens has accomplished in his short time in WWE. He seems to stutter over his words and Cesaro’s music hits. Out comes Cesaro in a suit. Owens talks about how he has succeeded while Cesaro has failed. KO says Cesaro will never match his ability.

Cesaro says he’s not jealous, he’s ashamed of KO. He says KO walks away from matches and disrespects the fans and wrestlers by not finishing his matches. Cesaro calls Owens an embarrassment, and NOW Owens stand ups, and he’s so fat that the chair sticks to him. lol… The chair falls over as Cesaro makes a crack about it. The two men get in each other’s faces. Miz is loving it. Cesaro says this is MizTV but it’s also a WWE ring. Miz gets pumped on the mic, but Owens tells Miz to shut up and let the two real fighters talk.

Owens says he will fight anyone for the right money, but there’s no money to be made tonight, so Kevin begins to walk (as usual). Cesaro changes KO’s slogan to “Walk, Owens, Walk”. Miz starts to talk to Cesaro when Kevin comes back in the ring and knocks Miz into Cesaro… Owens attacks Cesaro, but Cesaro trips him up and goes for the Cesaro Swing… But Owens escapes and leaves the ring…. Cesaro rips his shirt off and calls for more!

— Commercial Break —

– We get a clip from UFC…hmmmmmm. Rousey pays credit to Roddy Piper after her fight from UFC 190 this past Saturday.

4. Rusev (w/Summer Rae) vs. Mark Henry

Rusev gets Mark Henry down early, Henry powers his way back up but walks right into the jumping side kick. Really, already? A SECOND JUMPING THRUST KICK ends it with a pin fall… 2:05…. WOW… Just…. Wow….

– The announcers spend time burying PPV and encourage you to just buy the Network for Summer Slam. lol…

– We get a backstage Wyatt Family promo. Bray Wyatt has a flowers he picks apart and calls it a weed. He compares it to Roman Reigns who “they” chose. But Wyatt says Reigns is no different than anyone else. Harper says they warned Ambrose, but Dean made a wrong choice. Sheamus steps into the black Wyatt area… Sheamus plans to kill Orton. Wyatt admires Sheamus’ brutality, and says the enemy of his enemies is his friend. Run!

Sheamus in Wyatt world there killed my suspension of disbelief, it was almost like when Hogan walked into the Dungeon of Doom. lol

— Commercial Break —

Zack Ryder already in the ring… OK, Who’s killing him???

5. Zack Ryder vs. King Barrett

Ugh, a Barrett promo on the way to the ring. It’s a little back and forth to start, Barrett takes over. Ryder comes back with his usual set of moves, the double knees, the dropkick from the middle rope, the face wash boot in the corner. Ryder goes for the Rough Ryder, Barrett throws him up over top and Zack comes down face first into the buckle… Looked like CRAP. Ryder turns into the BULL HAMMER for the quick win in 1:54.

— Commercial Break —

Paul Heyman And Brock Lesnar Expose The Undertaker

– Paul Heyman is standing in the ring and shows us footage of Taker returning at Battleground and costing Lesnar the WWE Title match. Heyman talks about Lesnar going to make Taker his bitch at Summer Slam, and then we get more footage, this time from Raw 2 weeks ago when the two had the big brawl. A little more Heyman style promoting and he finally introduces Brock Lesnar to the ring. Brock places the steps in the ring ans stands on them while Heyman continues to speak.

Heyman then exposes his surprise news. He says that the Undertaker had begged Vince McMahon for a match with Brock at Summer Slam and Vince turned him down for fear of his health. So that is why Taker showed up at Battleground and forced the match. Heyman calls this the match “Too Big For WrestleMania”. Heyman calls it the Rematch of all time, and Lesnar will win again. Last time Undertaker needed an ambulance and a hospital, but this time his career is over. Undertaker will rest in pieces…

– Stone Cold Podcast with Paige tonight… Ummm. Yay.

— Commercial Break —

6. Paige vs. Naomi

Both teams accompanied by their respective partners. Naomi’s theme is beyond irritating. The girls trade covers until Paige kicks Naomi in the face. Paige controls while Team Bella watches from the back. Series of knees in the corner and Paige works an armbar. Naomi escapes with sort of a back stabber with her feet. It was sloppy. Naomi bulldogs Paige’s head into the turnbuckle for 2… More sloppy crap from Naomi, she lands a double knee drop for 2… Naomi stretches Paige’s body around the ring post. Naomi dominates. Paige finally catches a cross body and lands a Fall Away Slam on Naomi… Paige makes the comeback with her usual stuff and looks for the PTO, but Naomi drop toeholds Paige’s face into the ropes. Naomi tries the corner bulldog again but gets thrown off. Naomi still goes up top but misses a high cross body. Naomi counters the PTO but runs into a Superkick from Paige… And NOW the PTO is applied and Naomi taps. All righty then… 7:28.

Naomi was sloppy, match was bland, and the fans were quiet more often than not. I think they have the wrong women wrestling each other in this feud.

– Eden interviews her husband… Stardust.Cody cuts a promo on Neville, his arch rival. Ugh.

– Up next, we celebrate the life of Roddy Piper.

— Commercial Break —

– Back on Raw we see that MSG paid tribute to Roddy Puper as he was on their marquee. We then follow up with the same video that opened the show. Ok then.

– Dean Ambrose & Roman Reigns promo. Both are sporting Hot Rod shirts. Ambrose uses the Kick ass and chew bubble gum line. Reigns wants at Wyatt… Orton pops in, also in a Hot Rod shirt… Orton just wants them to leave Sheamus to him. Dean says it’s time to get Rowdy!

— Commercial Break —

7. Randy Orton, Roman Reigns & Dean Ambrose vs. Sheamus, Bray Wyatt & Luke Harper

Ambrose & Harper start. Harper thrown to the floor and the other heels knocked to the floor. Ambrose dives off the top onto all of them with the flying elbow as we go to break.

Back from break, it’s Reigns and Sheamus brawling in the ring and then on the outside. Sheamus tags in Wyatt, who wants no part of Reigns so he immediately tags in Harper. We get Ambrose back in against Harper, with Dean going off. Ambrose is on the top rope but gets crotched. Wyatt tries a Superplex, but Dean knocks him off the ropes, then Dean knocks Harper off the apron. Harper’s distraction allows Bray to nail Ambrose and knock him off the top rope to the floor as we take a late commercial break.

Back from break… AGAIN, Wyatt has Ambrose in a chinlock. Dean tries a come back but Wyatt clotheslines him in half. Harper back in, Dena almost gets a hot tag but Harper with a Big Boot sends Reigns off the apron. Dean with a neckbreaker on Harper and hot tags ORTON. We get Orton and Wyatt in the ring. Orton counters the urinage with his backbreaker. Orton with the suspended DDT on Wyatt!!! Randy looks for the RKO. But Harper hits Randy with a discus clothesline… Ambrose gores after Harper, some great stuff ends with Harper big boot on Ambrose on the floor… Reigns SUPERMAN PUNCH on Harper outside!

Orton tags to Reigns, Sheamus tags in… Reigns Samoan Drop on Sheamus and the apron dropkick on Sheamus, and then the apron dropkick on the announce table to Wyatt!!! Reigns then lays out Harper outside. Then Superman Punch to Wyatt… Superman punch to Sheamus… Harper lays out Reigns, Ambrose with the wicked clothesline on Harper… Dean blocks Sister Abigail and ducks a clothlesine from Wyatt and hits a suicide dive on Harper over the announce table…

Back inside, RKO TO WYATT… Sheamus tries a Brogue on Orton, but Orton ducks…. Sheamus turns into a SPEAR from Reigns… And Reigns wins the match in 16:40.

End show.

Brooke’s Past Comments On Hulk’s Reaction To Her Dating Rapper, Honky On Hulk Hogan, More

0

– Global North Wrestling sent us the video above of The Honky Tonk Man discussing WWE cutting ties with Hulk Hogan following the release of several racist comments Hulk made in 2008. Honky Tonk Man called the incident a “terrible situation” during a radio appearance on Bob FM 103.7 in Brockville to promote his August 14th GNW match in the town.

“Given the way society’s running today, I understand it,” Honky said. “Can they do it? Should they do it? It’s their business. It’s run by one man, and if he wants to do it that way, then so be it.

“You can’t erase the history books, you can’t go back and take every video clip and every magazine and every photo and destroy it. Come on, let’s get real.”

– As noted, the controversial comments made by Hogan in 2008 were referring to his daughter Brooke being involved with the son of “a black billionaire guy.” It is believed that Hogan was referring to SoBe Entertainment founder Cecile Baker, whose son Yannique Barker, a.k.a. Stack$, was dating Brooke around that time. Stack$ appeared in the lead single for Brooke’s album The Redemption, which is in the video above. The couple also appeared on Howard Stern in 2009, and Stern asked her point blank if Hulk had an issue with her dating someone who was half African American and half Caucasian.

“My dad likes him,” Brooke said. “My dad likes Stack$ a lot. He’s actually the first guy my dad has liked!”

– Speaking of Brooke, her country EP Girlfriend will be available for pre-order on iTunes this Tuesday.
