Alex Wright On Working With HHH in WCW & Visiting NXT:

Rumors that he helped “make” Triple H while they worked together in WCW:

I wouldn’t put it that way that, I “teached” him wrestling. He was a great talent and I really enjoyed working with him. I knew he was going to make himself a big name in the world or sport of wrestling but not that he was going to be the boss. If I knew that I certainly would have kept in touch more then I did now. Actually, I met him last year and talked to him about a lot of stuff with my promotion and they invited me over to the WWE Performance Center to train their talent and also see how it is and I was very happy they invited me over.

The WCW Power Plant vs. The WWE Performance Center:

When I was at the Power Plant it was just a factory hall where they just used to put the stuff like old rings and stuff that they would just keep that if they didn’t use it they would put it in there and somewhere between all that stuff there were two or three rings. They didn’t really have showers or stuff like that but you really cannot compare it to the WWE Performance Center. The Performance Center is really top notch and professional and you get treated very well and the trainers are really good. At the time in WCW they had good trainers too but it was just tougher. I had to run the ropes eight hours a day and my back was swollen and they still said well keep going. A lot of people threw up and it was so hard and in one side it makes you hard but in the other it was a little bit too hard. Sometimes you got the feeling they tried to break you.

Wanting the trainee to quit (WCW Power Plant) vs. how he teaches at his school, The Wright Stuff:

That’s really bad because you might lose good talent. My wrestling school is a school. You hear it in the word, I try to take the people that come to me and who want to learn pro wrestling and take them from that spot and watch the endurance level that they have or the experience level that they have and teach them from that point on. Of course I bring them to their physical borders but I never bring them over it. I try to get the most talent out of the interested wrestling people who come to my school. So then the market grown here and we have good talent.

Working veterans so young in his career:

It was truly a dream come true. To work guys like Ric Flair and Arn Anderson, Bobby Eaton and later on of course Dean, Eddie and Benoit and Regal it was every time I stepped in the ring I learned so much that I really enjoyed my time then. It’s the best way to learn, being in the ring with a veteran who helps you and leads you through the match you will always learn something new. It was the best thing that could happen to me.

Working Brian Pillman and competing in the Super J Cup:

it’s very sad that he had to go so early. That was a shock for me and I think that was the first incident while I was in WCW where I was shocked about it being such a bad experience. But working wise he was really, really good. I actually went with Brian to New Japan for the Super J Cup and that was a real good time. That was pretty tough. Everybody who took part in that tournament was a top notch wrestler and I still at that time was only 21 and that is around the time that I met Malenko and Eddie over there. It was really hard and there were so many skilled wrestlers, very technical and a lot of impact with less entertainment but I really did enjoy it over there. I got two injuries but I had to pull through those six weeks.

Winning the WCW Cruiserweight Title:

It’s always nice to win a title. It shows that the company feels comfortable to put you in that kind of a position and it’s a little thank you, it’s very nice and of course I felt very good. I was not after the title, it’s nice to have one but for me the priority was always to have a good match and try to entertain the people and doing my job. It didn’t matter if I had a regular match or pay per view match I always tried to give 1000% in a match.

WWE Raw 10/26/15 Pre-Show Notes

– It’s Stanford, Graves & Otunga. These guys are just absolutely TERRIBLE.

– Tonight on Raw we will learn Seth Rollins’ next challenger.

– They discuss Brock beating Taker and the Wyatt Family’s appearance after the match. The future of Taker, the future of Brock. Man, these “announcers” need to go. Seriously, if you’ve never watched the pre-show, check it out once and you’ll agree.

– For those who don’t know, Roman Reigns beat Bray Wyatt last night. So it’s a guessing game where Reigns goes next? And again what was up with the Wyatts and Taker?

– Seth Rollins beat Kane last night. So now Corporate Kane must be fired, AND who is Rollin’s next challenger? You seeing a pattern here???

– It’s obvious last night basically wrote off most of , if not potentially all current feuds. Yes, they may continue to beat this Dudleys/New Day thing to death, but in general a lot of the major feuds have been resolved, and thus we’re at a new starting point… HOPEFULLY some good storylines are coming, but I’ll take a wait and see approach on that one.

– So Kane is no longer Director of Operations, and Graves and Otunga run campaigns with Howard Finkel voice overs to promote themselves as the next DOO. Sigh.

– Oh hey! Did you know Alberto Del Rio came back? And beat Cena for the U.S. Title last night? Well if you didn’t, you do now!!! Oh yeah, and the racist Zeb Colter is now a peace maker, acting as manager (I think?) of ADR.

Sometimes the pre-show will announce some decent updates on what will be on Raw, basically the only reason I watch. This is NOT one of those times… Blah

WWE Raw Report 10/26/15 from the Valley View Casino in San Diego, California

The Authority / Seth Rollins / Roman Reigns Segment

– We’ve got HHH & Stephanie McBoobypants on the way to the ring. Apparently we witnessed matches of “mythic proportions” last night, or so says Stephanie. A little jibba-jabba from the Authority and they bring out STILL the champ, Seth Rollins. Rollins has just beaten them all… Orton, Ambrose, Kane, Brock Lesnar, Sting… They had to make sure Seth was the man, and he survived every single test. Seth has finally secured his spot as THE MAN. Not only is he still champ, he also got Kane fired, which makes WWE better. The Authority is just so PROUD of Seth as they HUG him. Oh the ratings.

Seth says he is speechless, but then goes on to ramble on about himself and the Authority. But now Seth has left the Authority in a PICKLE. Seth has beaten everyone… There’s nobody left to challenge Seth. So now people have to fight their way up to earn a championship match. Apparently, the winners of last night matches will face each other tonight, and the 4 winners will meet in the main event in a Fatal Four Way to determine the next #1 contender. Seth loves it, but…….

Roman Reigns on his way to the ring. SIGH. They just won’t let him get over organically, it’s right back to the forced main event push. Reigns gets about two sentences of dialog, and still managed to sound corny. Reigns plans to be the challenger. Joy. I guess there really isn’t anyone else left though, way to be WWE…

These Contender matches start now… Reigns is in the first match, when we return…

— Commercial Break —

1. Roman Reigns vs. Kofi Kingston (w/Big E)

We get some New Day promo time before the match. They bash Reigns, they have some kind words for Xavier, and then Kofi professes to be Harry Potter and ‘put some magic’ on Reigns. Kofi with some fancy running early leads to a dropkick on Reigns that drops Roman to a knee. Lame… More fancy running and leapfrogging by Kofi, but this time Reigns gets in a neckbreaker and Kingston takes a powder as we head to break a couple minutes into the match…

Back from break, Reigns suplexes Kofi back into the ring from the apron. Roman clotheslines Kofi’s face off and then a second one takes Kingston back to the floor. Outside, Big E distracts and Kofi baseball slide kicks Reigns into the barricade. Back inside, Kofi takes over with some mostly generic offense, a double axe handle off the top, an armbar, nothing exciting. Reigns gets sick of selling so we get a bunch more clotheslines from Reigns… Kofi escapes a powerbomb… Kofi escapes a Samoan drop… But Reigns right back with ten more clothesline in the corner… What an easy match for Reigns… Kofi comes back to try a double springboard move but misses, Reigns follows up with a ONE ARMED sit out powerbomb for a near fall… Reigns sets up for the Superman Punch, but Big E distracts and gets knocked off the apron. Kingston tries Trouble In Paradise, but Reigns ducks and lands THE SPEAR on the rebound… Reigns wins in 12:43. Talk about dragging out a squash, they didn’t really want Reigns bumping for Kofi. Reigns saves all of his usual spots for the main event.

Reigns goes on to the Fatal 3 Way. The last minute of the match had a fun sequence of action, but skip the first 11:00.

– Backstage, The Miz hyped the new WWE 2k16. Earn those big dollars!

– We’ve got Alberto Del Rio vs. Neville, Dolph Ziggler vs. Big E, and Cesaro vs. Kevin Owens as the other 3 matches to determine the Fatal Four Way participants for the main event… So I guess winning a 6-man pre-show match is good enough to get you a chance at the WWE title…

— Commercial Break —

2. Cesaro vs. IC Champ Kevin Owens

Non-Title, but for a Fatal Four Way spot. Some quick back and forth pin attempts from both men to start. Cesaro gains brief control before Owens lures him outside and attacks Cesaro on the way back in. Cesaro powers back with a delayed vertical suplex for 2. Owens pulls Cesaro outside, where they exchange blows and double clothesline each other down. Somehow it keeps them both down for the count of NINE… Both men get back in the ring just before the TEN count… Jeeze… And we’re off to commercial.

Back from break, Cesaro starts exploding in the corners with running European Uppercuts and a dropkick sends Owens to the floor… Cesaro with more insanity with a running uppercut up against the barricade and he lands in the crowd… Then Cesaro with a nice looking running somersault senton dive off the apron… Back inside, Cesaro wants a backslide, Cesaro counters, but Owens lands a DDT for a near fall… Cesaro with a suick looking springboard reverse spinning uppercut… Owens blocks the Cesaro Swing by reaching the ropes, the ref pulls Cesaro back and Owens plants a Superkick and the stupid Pop-Up powerbomb ends it in 10:22.

So Cesaro KILLS IT all match long, he’s over here, and they kill it to stick Owens in the main event tonight even though it’s irrelevant. This sweat hog Owens push is really annoying, I really don’t care what kind of an Indy darling he was.

– Anywho, backstage Paige is praising herself at the expense of Charlotte and Becky Lynch. Apparently she was on Conan O’Brien last week and she’s just so popular now because of it… All three of these girls will team tonight, even though I’m pretty sure Paige turned heel on them a few weeks back?

— Commercial Break —

3. Charlotte, Paige & Becky Lynch vs. Alicia Fox, Nikki & Brie Bella

So this mess continues… Some good stuff outta Charlotte and Nikki last night, it was no Sasha vs. Bayley, but what is? Paige & Nikki start, Paige controls. Charlotte tags in and the heels take over with double and triple teaming in their corner. Charlotte etas a Brie Mode knee to the face and a bunch of YES! Kicks. Brie teases Charlotte to tag and Charlotte finally drops Brie and hot tags to Lynch… Shit breaks down soon after, everyone starts laying out everyone… You know the routine… Nikki drills Lynch with the big punch or whatever. Rack Attack ends it. Nikki wins, for some reason… 5:24.

So I guess the rule of thumb is, you always lose in your hometown… UNLESS you’re dating John Cena. I question some of the winners tonight… In case you didn’t notice.

As Charlotte checks on Lynch, PAIGE ATTACKS CHARLOTTE and lays her out with the “RamPaige” DDT… And the same for Becky Lynch… Paige with the “PTO” submission on Charlotte… Paige prances around afterwards and the crowd eats it up… The crowd is actually far more over for this entire segment than it deserved. The match was really nothing but a backdrop for Nikki to get yet another win, and Paige to turn on her partners… AGAIN… Can’t say they didn’t deserve it… The turn was decent, would have been even better if it wasn’t the SECOND TIME Paige turned heel in the last 6 weeks… To quote Ryback… STOOOOPID.

– Okay, so the Wyatt Family stole the Undertaker’s body last night… BUT FUCK THAT, we’ve gotta sell WWE 2k16 bitches! More video game shilling! BUY YOUR COPY Tuesday… or next week… or something.

— Commercial Break —

This segment is just a recap of Taker vs. Lesnar, and the Wyatt’s committing a kidnapping, or man-napping, or whatever. The Wyatts will speak TONIGHT!

– Backstage it’s Renee Young with Zeb Colter & U.S. Champion Alberto Del Rio. Colter claims there is no more America or Mexico, they are one country. Colter & ADR are apparently the first members of this new nation entitled “Mex-Ammerica”…. I kid you not… Vince can really think of some stupid shit…. You can’t just have ADR be ADR… He’s got a stupid gimmick. This has Vince written all over it. I can just see him sitting there thinking of this and his eyebrows raising in delight… “We’ll call them… THE MEX-AMERICANS!!!!”. Lame… Yeah Vince, this will boost your Hispanic audience.

Anyway ADR wants the WWE Title too… Greedy them Mex-Americans, aren’t they?

ADR vs. Neville is next.

— Commercial Break —

4. U.S. Champion Alberto Del Rio (w/Zeb) vs. Neville

Non-Title, again this is for a Fatal Four Way spot. This could be pretty good, if ADR isn’t forced to hold back and save his main stuff for the main event like Reigns and Owens were. Colter’s on the scooter, which makes this even more stupid looking. Some nice solid feeling out to start things off, Neville takes over with a body scissors into a bulldog, a flying head scissors, and a springboard cross body… This sends ADR out of the ring and hiding behind Colter’s scooter… Okay, so apparently Mex-Americans are heels. That’ll get the characters over even more. Anywho, we go to break…

Oh and for those who were wondering, we got about three minutes of action before the break, it was all solid.

Back from break, ADR has control with a seated chin lock. We see that ADR landed a Backstabber during the break… It seemingly goes on forever for some reason. Neville finally escapes out and lands all sorts of kicks from all angles and ADR goes running outside AGAIN… This time Neville with an inside out twisty plancha outside onto Alberto. Back inside, Neville lands on his feet during an ADR tilt-a-whirl attempt and Neville lands a huracan rana for a near fall… Neville starts to ascend the ropes when ADR lands an ENZUIGIRI for 1………….2……… NO…

ADR goes for the rolling cross armbreaker but Neville counters into a cradle for 2… ADR kicks out and clotheslines Neville inside out. But Neville back up and ADR knocked back outside… Neville climbs to the top rope but ADR knocks him down into the tree of woe… Del Rio lands a top rope DOUBLE STOMP on a hanging Neville, and that ends it in 12:25.

This was decent, the first thing on the show I’d actually recommend. A bit slow in the middle, but that’s how it goes. As decent as this was I have no doubt these two could really have a show stealer in the future when they’re allowed to go “all out”. If you watch this you won’t be bored, but if you don’t watch this you won’t hate yourself either. I’m not complaining for a TV match. ADR goes to the Fatal 4 Way…

— Commercial Break —

5. Ryback & The Dudley Boyz vs. Rusev, Sheamus & King Barrett

So this foreign group… sorry, this INTERNATIONAL group is a thing now? Bring back the Dusty Rhodes World 6-Man Titles babays if you weeell. Match starts with all six men brawling in the ring, match eventually winds up with Sheamus vs. D-Von in the ring. D-Von controls. Heels eventually take over and work over D-Von. Crowd is kinda blah for this, but still better than the average crowd. Sheamus with the Irish Curse backbreaker. D-Von finally drops Rusev for the hot tag to RYBACK… Ryback plows over Barrett. Sheamus distracts, Wade goes for Wasteland on Ryback, but Bubba saves by tagging in… The Dudleys lay out Sheamus & Barrett, Ryback tags back in and lays out Rusev… TRIPLE MEAT HOOK CLOTHESLINE on the heels from all the faces… Barrett gets laid out and takes the WUZZUP headbutt… D-Von AND Ryback go out for a table… No idea why, the match isn’t… That makes no sense… Why would you go get a table? To lose by DQ on purpose? WTF does that accomplish… Oh okay, Sheamus distracts, Barrett rolls Bubba up and the Dudleys job again… Now it all makes sense. 6:11 ends this nothing match.

— Commercial Break —

Bray Wyatt Promo

Bray Wyatt sits in the middle of the ring alone. He talks Undertaker. For 25 years Taker had no equal, but last night was the Apocalypse came to surpass as the soul of the Undertaker was carried out. The Undertaker’s soul is currently being ripped to shreds… Wow… Wyatt goes on for a bit about Taker’s demise and then asks everyone to bow their heads and share a moment of silence for the man who has lost his soul to Bray Wyatt… A moment of silence for Undertaker. Wyatt then tells Taker to REST IN PEACE… Phenom.

HERE COMES KANE FOR REVENGE…

BY GAWD…. THROUGH HELL, FIRE, AND BRIMSTONE!!!!

IT’S KANE!!!!

Kane gets in the ring… the lights go out… they come back on… Kane is surrounded by the entire Wyatt Family… Kane drops Rowan and Harper like bitches, and low bridges Strowman to send him outside… Kane confronts Wyatt… Rowan and Harper back in, Kane goes for a double chokeslam… But Strowman attacks from behind… And now the Wyatt Family beat the crap out of Kane as well. They pummel Kane and carry him off like they did Taker last night…

Well… As much as I’m over Kane, I’ll say this much. At least this MADE SENSE… Which is more than I can say for much of the last 2 months. Poor Kane… He just came back. Wait, did I just show pity for boring, slow, old, crappy bumping, did I say boring, Kane? I’m going soft.

— Commercial Break —

– Backstage, the Wyatts are dragging Kane away as Bray sings the “Whole World” song.

6. Dolph Ziggler vs. Big E (w/Kofi)

Why is Dolph’s match so much closer to the main event? AND HERE COMES TYLER BREEZE… Crowd goes quiet for Tyler, who is accompanied by Summer Rae. Tyler & Summer have a VIP section to sit at ringside. Big E mauls Dolph early with power and then slaps on Zigglers abs during an abdominal stretch. Ziggler escapes and lands a dropkick, both men wind up on the floor. Ziggler attempts control, but Kofi distracts and Big E plows Ziggler back down to take over as we go to break.

Back from break, Big E still stomping on Ziggzlesworth. Ziggy tries to come back with a Famouser, but Big E counters with a powerbomb for 2. Big E goes back to the abdominal stretch. Can you stand the excitement? Ziggler again escapes and hits a dropkick… AGAIN. Comeback time for Ziggmeister Flex. Dolph comes back with all of his basic signatures, the big elbow gets 2. Big E counters a superkick into a catapult, and he catapults Ziggler up over the top rope, head first into the ring post LEGIT and to the floor… Big E toys around and ends up taking a FAMOUSER for a near fall. Big E back on top and adjust in mid-air to hit a big splash for 2… Big E looks to splash Dolph on the apron, but runs into a SUPERKICK instead… Ziggler again with a near fall.

Dolph tries for the jumping DDT but Big E LAUNCHES him across the ring… Big E charges, but misses and hits the ring post… Ziggler from behind ZIGZAG…1………..2………..3!!! Ziggler wins it in about 14:00, just in time to come back out in ten minutes to work the main event…

– Backstage, Dean Ambrose is with Roman Reigns. Dean gives Roman a pep talk to get him psyched for the main event. Reigns don’t need a pep talk, he thinks he has this. The cocky bitch. And how do you have Ambrose and not use him? God I hope they don’t turn Ambrose heel.

— Commercial Break —

– Back from break, the ring is loaded up with Breast Cancer survivors, HHH, and a bunch of mid carders. Rise Above Cancer. Hey wow Curtis Axel and R-Truth apparently still have jobs. Titus O’Neil handles the promo.

– Backstage, or somewhere, The Miz wins his video game match as he plays as “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. Miz mimics Austin’s voice, only to turn around into… STEVE AUSTIN himself! Miz quickly apologizes and promotes Austin and WWE 2k16. Austin is on the cover so, yeah.

– Seth Rollins heads to commentary for the Fatal Four Way. How did I not see that coming.

— Commercial Break —

– Oh man, it’s a Special Halloween Edition of Smackdown this week. SPOOOOOKY! You really wanna surprise me? Give Dean Ambrose a WIN.

#1 CONTENDER FATAL FOUR WAY
7. Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. Dolph Ziggler

All four guys immediately get to fighting on the floor. Owens and Reigns end up in the ring, Del Rio jumps off the barricade to lay out Ziggler on the floor. The heels try to double team Reigns in the ring, but Roman lays both of them out, AND Ziggler out… Superman Reigns everyone. Reigns with the Drive By apron dropkick on Kevin Owens, then the Drive By dropkick on Del Rio on the announce table… Reigns is up but turns right into a Ziggler SUPERKICK… Dolph takes over as we head to break…

Back from break, Reigns is laid out on the floor and the heels double team Ziggler. After beating down the faces, the two heels turn on each other. Owens and ADR now go at it. Owens misses a senton and Del Rio lands the SUPERKICK that he beat Cena with last night, but Owens rolls to the floor. Reigns now takes over on ADR with a Samoan drop and clothesline-a-mania in the corner…

Ziggler tries the Zigzag on Reigns from behind, but Roman hangs on. We get a baby face stare down. Ziggler nails a dropkick and the jumping DDT for 2… Reigns comes back with a sit out powerbomb for his own near fall… SUPERMAN PUNCH on Ziggler, but Del Rio nails Reigns from behind and steals the cover on Dolph….1…………………….2…………Ziggler kicks out… ADR enzuigiri knocks Owens off the apron… ADR running enzuigiri on Ziggler misses and Dolph with the FAMOUSER ON ADR!!!! 1………….2……………NO!

Del Rio comes back and throws Ziggler way up in the air, ten feet or more.. and Dolph crashes down for a near fall. Ziggler crotches ADR on the top rope. Owens and Reigns get involved… SUPERMAN PUNCH knocks ADR off the top rope… Ziggler superkicks Reigns… Owens suplexes Ziggler across the ring… CANNONBALL ON ZIGGLER… CANNONBALL ON ADRio… It’s down to Owens & Reigns… Back and forth… POP UP POWERBOMB, NO REIGNS GETS TOSSED INTO THE AIR AND COMES DOWN WITH A SUPERMAN PUNCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SPEAR……………1………..2…………..3.

Reigns gets the win after 15:00. Crowd was pretty hot for this. You don’t see 4 ways much in today’s WWE so this is worth the watch.

Reigns gets the title shot against Rollins next. They have a stare down after the match at ringside. Both men look at the belt. No words exchanged. Reigns walks off, Rollins doesn’t appear happy. And that’s the end of Raw peoples…

The “OH MY GOD!” Review: ECW November To Remember ’94 (Night Two)

0

November to Remember Night 2 1994-11-05 at ECW Arena in Philadelphia, Pa

Champions
World: “The Franchise” Shane Douglas
TV: Jason
Tag: Cactus Jack & Mikey Whipwreck

This is a shitty handheld hopefully some matches show up on TV as no home video was released.

911 chokeslams the ring announcer to begin our tape.

The Pitbulls are leaving the ring after having defeated Bad Breed, no video of match.

2 Cold Scorpio vs. Mr. Hughes, ref John “Pee Wee” Moore
Apparently Borne Again is already gone from ECW. Seriously this is filmed in-between two peoples heads and you see the back of them more then the match. Hughes overpowers Scorpio. Fans hate this and want 911 to come out. Hughes throws Scorpio into the air and he crashes on the mat. He goes for it again but Scorpio drop-kicks him. Hughes right back in control and he drops an elbow. Hughes misses a corner charge and goes down. Scorpio off the top with a 450 for the cover and the victory in 6.46. Hughes lays out Scorpio after the match. Hughes on the mic but can’t understand him. Scorpio gets up way to fast after Hughes leaves and he gets on the mic. They brawl in the aisle.

Tommy Dreamer vs. “Ironman” Tommy Cairo, ref Jim Molineaux
JIP Dreamer in control but Cairo fights back and makes fun of Sandman. Cairo gets a cane but Tommy fights it away. Dreamer cracks Cairo twice before Cairo falls out of the ring. Cairo back in the ring and he is bloody. Dreamer nails him a bunch more with the cane. The ref stops the match and declares Dreamer the winner. 3.38 was filmed. Dreamer continues the beat down after the match.

World Champion “The Franchise” Shane Douglas vs. Ron Simmons, ref John Finnegan
Simmons cuts a heel promo to turn the fans against him. Simmons nails Douglas to get us going but Shane comes back with a drop kick and then he rolls out of the ring to celebrate and taunt Simmons. Shane with a cross body and he rolls out of the ring for a third time. Simmons is getting really aggravated. He goes out and chases Shane around the ring. Long period of not being able to see anything. Shane comes off the top with a cross body but Simmons catches him with a powerslam. Gut buster and Simmons is now solidly in control. Simmons misses top rope head butt but slams Shane back chokeslams Shane down. Simmons goes for a clothesline but Shane with a crucifix to retain in 6.36. Simmons attacks after but Shane nails him with his belt. 2 Cold Scorpio comes out and saves Simmons. Simmons whips Shane with the belt and Scorpio hits a moonsault. Hmm Shane just may have become a full blown face. A bunch of refs and Tag Team Champion Cactus Jack comes out to check on Shane.

Sandman is in the ring with Tod Gordon. Gordon tells the fans to wish a farewell to Sandman. Sandman talks about how he almost ended Cario’s and Dreamer’s careers. He says as he looks back on what he has done he wouldn’t change a thing. He was the flag bearer to the extreme. He talks about losing his eyes, his career and his manager. He tells Woman to kiss his ass. Sandman says he lost his pride. Sandman says he loves Peaches. Peaches comes out and says she can’t decide if she should slap him or kiss him. She choses to kiss him. Peaches says she has changed a lot as she is now dressed more sexy than usual. Sandman says he doesn’t care how much weight she has gained because he realizes that she is the most important that he lost in all of this. Out comes Woman with a cane. Woman says she is out to let everyone know who she is going to marry Peaches wants to know what she is doing out there and calls her a bitch. Woman nails her with the cane. Tod Gordon tells her to get out of the ring. Gordon goes to stand in front of Sandman and bumps into him. Sandman shoves him to the crowd thinking he is under attack. Woman is now all alone with Sandman but Tommy Dreamer comes out and gets the cane from Woman and drops it. Sandman takes off the sunglasses and bandages and picks up the cane and begins to destroy Dreamer with it. It’s been a trick all along!

World Champion “The Franchise” Shane Douglas is back out after his successful title defense for an interview with Joey Styles. Shane makes fun of Flair and Hogan. Douglas runs down Simmons and Scorpio. Shane called up Sherri and got her to argue to come back on the 19th. Douglas says he has gone outside of ECW to get the best wrestler that can hang with him athletically. Douglas says that on the 19th his partner to take on Simmons and Scorpio will be “Stunning” Steve Austin!

Dean Malenko (TV Champion Jason) vs. Tazmaniac, ref John “Pee Wee” Moore
They lock up and Taz forces Dean into the corner but they break clean. Taz with a single leg take down and he lays in a few shots to Malenko. Taz with an irish whip he ducks his head and Dean goes for a butterfly. Taz fights out and hits a release northern lights for 2. Dean comes back and hits a double underhook power bomb. Dean hops up on the shoulders of Taz to try a roll up but Taz drops him throat first on the tope and then delivers a release german suplex getting a 2 count. Taz gets Dean on the top rope and goes for a super half nelson suplex but Dean fights out and they go to the floor. Jason attacks Taz so Taz kicks his ass. Dean has a towel in the ring and he pours something on it. Taz slides back in the ring and Dean smothers Taz with the towel knocking him unconscious and getting the win in 4.53. The crowd explodes into a chant of “bullshit”. Refs come from the back to help Taz but when he wakes up he chases them out of the ring and back to the dressing room.

Brawl Game Match: Tag Team Champions Cactus Jack & Mikey Whipwreck vs. Public Enemy, ref Jim Molineuax
In case you don’t remember the rules from last time…If you take someone out for a 10 count your team gets bats to use. Pinfall wins the match. Lots of stalling to start by PE as they jaw with the crowd. “Flyboy” Rocco Roc on the mic tells the fans not to call them “jailbird” or they will leave. PE with an elbow from the middle rope side slam combo. Mikey is down for but only for a 4 count. Grunge with a suplex but then Cactus comes in and uses Mikey as a battering ram a few times and Mikey is almost down for the 10 count. Mikey goes for the double noggin knocker but PE blocks and hits a double clothesline. Johnny Grunge clotheslines Cactus over the top rope. PE double teams Mikey in the ring. We hear a 8 count but don’t see what happened. We get and Mikey is on the stage beating someone with a chair. Cactus comes and attack Roc. Cactus up to the Nest. Cactus jumps off the next. Can’t really see what happened though. Mikey with a plancha out of the ring. Roc kills Jack with a chair to the head at ringside. In the ring Grunge comes off the top with the baseball bat to the face of Mikey! I guess we had a 10 count that didn’t get filmed. Grunge covers and gets the win and titles in 9.49. PE celebrates the start of their second reign as champions. 10.54 filmed.

Tod Gordon says that two weeks from tonight Sandman will take on Tommy Dreamer and “Ironman” Tommy Cairo will be the guest ref. Cactus gets the mic and tells PE that they aren’t done yet. Gordon runs down more of the card but I can’t really hear what he is saying.

Sabu (w/ Paul E Dangerously & 911) vs. Chris Benoit, ref John Finnegan
Sabu slides in the ring and Benoit goes on the attack. He suplexes Sabu onto the top rope leaving out to dry. Benoit lifts Sabu up and drops him down on his head. This is where Sabu legit broke his neck. Benoit turns and taunts the crowd. 911 comes into the ring and chases away the ref and Benoit. Benoit gets on the mic and says he came there to fight someone so he wants a fight. Benoit goes after 911 but takes a sick looking chokeslam. 911 covers and gets the win in 4.12. He hits another one and then PE come out with bats and chase him off. Cactus Jack hits the ring now and he goes after PE. Paul gets nails by PE. 911 with a double chokeslam on PE as the locker room empties. A big brawl breaks out all around the ring. Taz comes out in strew clothes to join the fight later on. He looks like he had been in the shower when all this went down and had to jump out and get dressed haha. Benoit and PE stand in the ring Benoit wants to know what happened to their hero Sabu. 2 Cold Scorpio hits the ring and he wants a match with Benoit.

2 Cold Scorpio vs. Chris Benoit (w/ Tag Champs Public Enemy), ref Jim Molineaux
Benoit with a snap suplex for 2. Benoit ducks a clothesline and hits a super kick. Benoit bails to the floor. Rocco Roc and Johnny Grunge come into the ring but get fought off. The rest of the wrestlers come to ringside now. Benoit with a superplex from the top rope that almost gets the win. Benoit with a slam and then he goes for a super belly to back but Scorpio lands on top and gets 2. Gut wrench suplex for a 2. Scorpio with a roll up for yet another near fall. They go to the floor and Scorpio gets driven through a table and then sent into the guard rail. The ref calls for the bell after 5.32 and declares the match a no contest. Scorpio chases Benoit away with a chair. Cactus, JT Smith and Bad Breed celebrate in the ring with Scorpio. Cactus gets on the mic and lets the fans know that Sabu is injured and to please keep him in their thoughts.

My thoughts on the show…
This is a tough one to call I mean the camera angle was bad so it was hard to see at times. The action that we did get was pretty good. I would say let’s wait until we see what shows up on TV before you watch this. The Benoit/Sabu match is on Extreme Warfare Volume 1 which I have already reviewed. It cuts out everything after Sabu breaking his neck though.

The “OH MY GOD!” Review: Tri-State’s Autumn Armageddon II (9/21/91)

0

Autumn Armageddon II 1991-09-21 at Penn Hall in Philadelphia, Pa

Champion: JT Smith
Bar Wars: Tony Stetson
Tag Team: Dog Pound

We start off with a little bit of “God Bless America” action.

Last Blood Battle Royal
So you can figure out the rules. Participants include; Mr. Anthony, Ernesto Benefica, Michael Bruno, Ghetto Blaster, Jimmy Jannetty, Glen Osbourne (w/ Kevin Sullivan), Johnny O, Rick Perez, Rockin’ Rebel, Sabu, Mr. Sandman (w/ Peaches), Tony Stetson & Cry Baby Waldo. Ok so lets see if I can figure out how this plays out. Sabu misses a somersault off the top turn buckle. A few guys go to the floor to brawl. Johnny O is bleeding first. Ghetto Blaster is wearing a sky blue polo shirt. Come on dude your name is Ghetto Blaster you for sure don’t wear that. Jannetty is the next to go. Bruno gone at around 5 minutes. Glen Osbourne is gone. Waldo gets busted open at about 6.30. Perez now cut. Ernesto gone. There’s not much to really talk about here as it’s just a punch of punching. Sabu goes. I might have missed Ghetto Blaster get eliminated. Mr. Anthony is jumped on by Rebel. Stetson takes on Sandman as we are down to 4. Anthony is busted open by Rebel. Anthony and Rebel continue to fight and Rebel is bloodied. Sandman and Stetson are the only ones left at 11 minutes. The brawl between Rebel and Anthony continues to the locker room. Sandman gets tossed to the floor. Peaches jumps up on the apron to distract Stetson. Sandman attacks and bring Stetson outside and into the guard rail. Peaches hands something to Sandman and distracts the ref. It’s a bottle and he squirts ketchup onto Stetson the ref turns and sees it and calls for the bell. Mr. Sandman picks up the win in 12.58. Stetson gets a belt and whips Sandman with it. Stetson grabs Peaches and spanks her.

Champion JT Smith vs. DC Drake (w/ Woman, Don E Allen & Tag Champs The Dog Pound), ref Joe Zanolle
Dog Pound is Johnny Hotbody and Larry Winters (who is on crutches). Drake on the attack right away and uses the crutch behind the refs back. Everywhere Smith turns is either Drake or one of Drakes managers and they all get in their shots. Drake takes it to the floor and rams Smith’s head into the ring steps. Smith tries to come back but it’s basically five on one. Back in the ring Drake with a piledriver. Smith gets his foot on the ropes at 2. Smith makes a comeback and looks awkward while doing it as usual. Fall away slam gets 2. Drake cuts him off with a clothesline and goes back to the floor. Smith regains control briefly but crashes and burns off the top rope to the floor as a dive misses. Miscommunication leads to Winters nailing Drake with his crutch and Smith picking up the win out of no where in 12.48. Smith got his ass kicked the whole match. They would continue this in ECW. Woman was so hot. Winters doesn’t seem to care to much and everyone argues.

Mr. Sandman (w/ Peaches) vs. Tony Stetson, ref John Finnegan
Stetson hits the ring and demands Jole Goodhart get Sandman to come out and have a match with him. Sandman comes out but says he needs a contract to wrestle. Joel says that match is going to happen and tells Sandman to get in the ring or be fired. Stetson grabs Sandman and drags him in. Flying clothesline and then he beats away on Sandman. Stetson busts open Sandman. Sandman comes back and slams a table onto the knee of Stetson. Sandman beats on Stetson and breaks open his forehead. Stetson comes back with a swinging neck breaker and piledriver. The fans hate this match. Stetson comes off the top with a leg drop for the win in 7.36.

Tag Team Champions The Dog Pound (w/Woman, Don E Allen & Larry Winters) vs. The Blackhearts (w/ Luna Vachon), ref Jim Molineaux
Drake subs for the injured Winters. After lots of theatrics we get the bell. Blackharts in immediate control over Johnny Hotbody. One comes off the top to the floor with a double axe handle. All four men brawl on the floor. In the ring for more brawling a very chaotic scene. Luna and Allen fight on the floor. Drake nails Luna! Hotbody and Winters choke her! More brawling on the floor. Stetson breaks Winters’ crutch on the head of a Blackhart. More brawling ref letting is all go but this is probably one of the wildest matches TWA has had. Hotbody thrown through a table. In the ring Drake hits a clothesline. The other Blackhart hits a spin kick to the back of his head. Double shoulder tackle gets a 2. Spike piledriver by the champions. Luna distracts the ref. The Dog Pound all talk and as Drake goes to walk away Winters nails him with his crutch! Blackhart covers and gets the win and the titles in 10.04. DC Drake is getting kicked out of his own group as Allen, Winters and Hotbody attack. JT Smith of all people come out and make the save. Drake is very hesitant and even almost attacks Smith. Smith explains what happened to Drake and they eventually shake hands.

Owen Hart vs. Takayuki Iizuka, ref John Finnegan
OH hell yea! Some nice high flying stuff to start. Owen with a northern lights suplex for 2. Iizuka forces Owen to the mat and gets 2. Hart breaks from and hits a drop kick. Iizuka with a flying arm bar. Iizuka stays on the arm and Owen lifts him on his back and hits a samoan drop. The middle rope which had come loose breaks which might hurt this match. Owen drop kicks Iizuka out of the ring and then hits a baseball slide. Camel Clutch by Iizuka. Owen breaks it and hits an elbow drop off the second buckle. So it looks like just the rope by the hard camera actually broke off the turn buckle and the other 3 ropes are still ok. Iizuka goes back to work on Owen. Owen again fights back and hits a back breaker and butterfly suplex for 2. Iizuka comes back and works over the neck of Owen. Chop fight and Owen hits a standing drop kick but Iizuka takes him right down and locks in a sharpshooter. Owen breaks out but gets hit with a snap suplex and covered for 2. Owen hits a sick looking gut wrench suplex for 2. Belly to back gets another near fall. Snap suplex gets a third 2. Owen now goes to the camel clutch. Someone has finally come out to fix the rope. We have passed the 15 minute mark. Owen sent into the buckle and he hits it chest first. They work off the ropes now that they are fixed and Owen hits a belly to belly for 2.9. Iizuka with an urinage for 2. Owen sent into the corner Iizuka follows but Owen ducks a clothesline and gets a 2 count off a crucifix. Owen goes for a superplex but Iizuka lands on top and almost gets the 3. Norhtern lights but Owen kicks out! This is all back to back and awesome. Enziguri and Owen goes up top for a splash but eats knees! 20 minutes! Iizuka goes up top and Owen drop kicks him to the floor! Owen goes up and launches all the way across to the other ring post with a body attack. Holy shit he got some crazy distances on that! Iizuka tries to bring Owen back into the ring with a suplex but Owen slides out hits a german for the 1, 2 and 3 at 21.04! HUGE standing oven fro the two guys. Awesome match. Owen and Iizuka shake hands and hug. I don’t know if this match has a big following but if not it needs to. Probably the best match I have reviewed so far. Best Owen Hart match I have ever seen. Seriously I immediately watched it over.

Terry Funk vs. Kevin Sullivan (w/ Woman), ref John Finnegan
The fight is on right away and they go straight to the floor. It’s an absolutely all out brawl until both men get DQed at 7.44. Glen Osbourne comes out to try and help Sullivan but he gets nailed. The craziness continues on for a few more minutes as I pay very little attention.

Hair Match: Madusa Miceli & “Hotstuff” Eddie Gilbert vs. Luna Vachon & Cactus Jack, ref Joe Zanolle
Gilbert on the mic he tells Cactus to go to Ted Turner and tell him to “kiss my ass”. Fans pop I guess that makes them the good guys tonight. Luna and Madusa start off. 6 minutes in and it’s only been the ladies. Crowd chants boring. Can’t blame them. Fans want Cactus. Luna misses a cross body from the top and Madusa lands a drop kick from the top. Power bomb gets a nice pop and a 2 count. Jack trips up Madusa and Gilbert and Jack go at it in the aisle and crowd now. Gilbert hits a DDT on the floor and Luna has a cover in the ring but the ref is with the guys. Wait it may have actually been Madusa with a head lock. It was and it was on for like 5 minutes. They basically just waited for the ref to come back so they could run their final spot. Madusa goes and yells at Gilbert to come back, Luna with a school boy for 2. Madusa ducks a clothesline hits a german suplex gets the 3. 12.07. Luna is about to get her head shaved when the new Tag Team Champions The Blackharts come down to stop it. Gilbert and Cactus hit the ring to make the save. Blackharts with the advantage but then Cactus and Gilbert throw them out of the ring. They back into each other the Blackharts come back into the ring and Jack and Gilbert actually double team and clear the ring again. Wait so they don’t hate each other anymore because they saved the same girl? Gilbert gets on the mic and thanks Jack for giving him the toughest matches of his career and then calls him a traitor for leaving. Turns out this is right as Cactus is going to WCW. Jack says he shouldn’t call him a traitor because it’s Gilbert’s fault that he even got the job. Madusa not appreciating the nice moment between Cactus and Gilbert by taking the mic and calling out Luna.

Steel Cage Match: Original Sheik (w/ Sabu) vs. Abdullah the Butcher
Sheik attacks the ref and then Abby hits the ring and goes after Sheik. Both men have weapons and both bleed. Abby wins. Kevin Sullivan and Terry Funk come out. Funk goes after Abby, Sullivan after Sheik. Abby goes nuts and attacks a ton of crew members on his way to the locker room. Fans chant for him to come back out so he does and lay in a few stomps.

Music video with clips from the show to “Hit Me With Your Best Shot”.

My thoughts on the show…
So obviously if you don’t have this show you should find it and watch the Hart/Iizuka match. Here I’ll make it easy for you It looks like someone filmed their TV and then uploaded the video but it’s still great.

Podcast: The TMPToW Interview Legend – Stan “The Lariat” Hansen

0

Stan Hansen is quite possibly the most intense and hard hitting professional wrestler to ever step through the ring ropes and today John and Chad of The Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling welcome the wild man from the great state of Texas known simply as “The Lariat”. In a rare interview, Stan Hansen reflects on moments from his storied career and tales that helped make his book “The Last Outlaw” such a compelling read as he details true stories spanning multiple continents and as he battled legends from Hulk Hogan and Andre The Giant to Giant Baba and Big Van Vader.

Stan Hansen Says Andre The Giant Made Him Who He Is In Japan

Facing Bruno Sammartino so early in his career:

I’d only been in the business I think about three years when I got the opportunity. A good friend of Bruno saw me wrestling in the Dallas territory and he went back and told Bruno and Vince Sr. about a big ol’ Texan that might be good in New York. So he was kind of instrumental in opening the door for me getting into New York and of course going with Bruno and I ended up hurting him the first match and it was an accident, but it was a legit injury and he was just a class guy. He never held it against me or anything and I must say that Bruno is one of the classiest guys I’ve ever met in the business. He was a legitimate superstar long before they used the word superstar in wrestling. He was almost like a “GOD” in that WWWF territory and I hurt him and that hurt the business. It took a lot of opportunity away from Ernie Ladd, Ivan Koloff and Billy “Superstar” Graham who were working against Bruno when I worked with him in “The Garden”. When I hurt him in “The Garden” he couldnt’ continue on and work against those guys and it ended up costing them some money because they didn’t get to work with Bruno all the way through. All of them didn’t outwardly hold a grudge against me and I really appreciate that.

Teaming with a young Hulk Hogan in Japan:

Hulk ended up being a great guy. He became a great star. We were actually kind of teamed up for a little bit over there for a little while. He came back years later and I ended up having a match with him but at the time we were teamed up and doing good for about a year and a half or so we got to know each other really well. When he came back to The States he put his emphasis in The States and of course the rest is history. He was a good guy, who came up the hard way. He had to sleep in a van on the beach and didn’t have enough money to check into a motel, a lot like I did. I was glad that he had that kind of success.

His singles match vs. Hogan in 1990 as part of The Wrestling Summit:

The match was different, but I think Hogan enjoyed the fact that it was a different kind of match then the WWWF or whatever it was then. He was successful every place he’s been and I’m glad for him. He’ll bounce back from everything, he’s a survivor and he will be ok.

Facing Big Van Vader the night of the infamous eye-ball incident:

It was “take it easy Leon”. It’s like hanging on to a big ol’ moose. Leon was big and strong and quick. He was the real deal. That match was a brutal match, I don’t think either one of us would want to go through it again or couldn’t now probably. A lot of it was hanging on and he was New Japan’s guy and I was All Japan’s guy so it was pretty competitive I must say and it was stiff.

Actually knocking out Vader’s eye:

I really couldn’t see. I saw him pull the mask off and grab his eye and I heard him say something. I didn’t know what it was, so I just looked and went on with it. I couldn’t see his eyeball, I didn’t know if his eyeball came out or it just messed up, I’m not sure what it is. People say it came out and he pushed it back in, I don’t know because I couldn’t see.

Facing the biggest Japanese stars of the 80s/90s wrestling scene:

I was very fortunate. I got to wrestle with all the great top Japanese guys. If I have a claim to “fame” it’s that I got to wrestle against (Antonio) Inoki, I got to wrestle against (Giant) Baba, Jumbo (Tsuruta), (Genichiro) Tenryu and then (Mitsuharu) Misawa and Kawada, (Kenta) Kobashi in that order and they were all just great. Tenyru was a great opponent and also I was teamed up with him a little bit. All those guys were really good and especially as things changed over there and certain people left, all of a sudden they had these three young guys in Kawada, Kobashi and Misawa. Misawa was already established but Kobashi and Kawada were coming up and I just happened to be in the right place and we had some great and did unbelievable business for about five or six years. You can go out and have a match and you can do your thing but your match is only as good as your opponent and I had some great opponents. All those guys fought from underneath and kept fighting from underneath and it took years for them to get over me but when they did the people believed in them because I beat the crap out of them for five or six years. So when they get there they have some legitimacy about what they are and how they got there. But they were great opponents, all three of them. I really enjoyed working with those guys.

The crazy crowds in Puerto Rico and wrestling Carlos Colon:

I call it a third world country, but of course it’s not. It was wild and completely different. The wrestling fans used to sell rocks so they could throw them at you. That’s kind of what you had to deal with and they would throw spark plugs. You grab a metal chair and the chair would be dented where your face is where spark plugs would be hitting it. Carlos was over and he was the top guy there and I got hooked up with him and he was a legitimate star in Puerto Rico for sure and I made a little money down there.

His brief stint in WCW and facing Lex Luger:

I hear negative things about Lex Luger but to me he was a good worker and he was obviously over. But as far as doing business and being a primadonna like Ive heard a lot of people say about him, I never ran into that. He was in a great spot and he made some great money and I think a lot of that negative is a lot of guys being just jealous of him and Sting’s position and so fourth. They were in a good position and good for them. I never had a bit of problem with Lex Luger in the ring. We had some good matches and I wish him a lot of luck.

Stan Hansen also discusses his Bruiser Brody book The Last Outlaw, his traveling experiences, teaming with Danny Spivey, working in the US, briefly appearing in WCW, facing Lex Luger and his legacy on the pro wrestling business.

The “OH MY GOD!” Review: ECW TV 10/18 – 11/01/94 (3 Episodes)

TV 1994-10-18 (Matches taped 1994-09-30 at Fieldhouse in Hamburg, Pa)

Champions
World: “The Franchise” Shane Douglas
TV: Jason
Tag: Cactus Jack & Mikey Whipwreck

Sandman video package airs in black and white with some sad music opens the show.

We go to Joey Styles but there is no audio AGAIN.

Opening video.

Back to Joey still no audio. Sabu and Cactus Jack has been signed for the November to Remember tour in Hamburg, Pa on the 4th. We will also see 6 man tag action as Ron Simmons, 2 Cold Scorpio and Chris Benoit will take on World Champion “The Franchise” Shane Douglas, Mr. Hughes and Borne again. Then at the ECW Arena the very next night Sabu takes on Chris Benoit, Tazmaniac against Dean Malenko, Tag Team Champions Mikey Whipwreck and Cactus Jack in a Brawl Games Match with former champions Public Enemy, 2 Cold will square off with Borne Again and Sandman will address the fans and give a farewell speech.

Public Enemy vs. Tony Stetson & Rockin’ Rebel, ref Jim Molineaux
PE beat on their opponents with bats and then hit the reverse DDT and moonsault for the win in 2.03. PE sending a message to the Pitbulls who they face on the 4th and the current ECW Tag Team Champions Mikey and Cactus whom they try to dethrone on the 5th.

Woman joins Joey on the phone. Woman says the show must go on and she will go out and get a new wrestler to manage. She is not going to sit around because some wrestler couldn’t take care of himself. On the 5th Woman will announce her newest charge.

We go to last week and see the end of Borne Again 2 Cold Scorpio. 2 Cold is backstage and he still has the Doink wig. Scorpio says something isn’t right with Borne and every time he looks at the wig or thinks about what happened he gets a knot in his stomach. Scorpio says there’s no reason to be a clown in ECW. Borne should step up and face him like a man.

Joey talks about how Sandman has lost a lot but he has never lost the respect of the wrestlers in the ECW locker room. “Ironman” Tommy Cairo joins via satellite from his home. Cairo says it was difficult to watch from TV. Cairo says it was so difficult to watch on TV because he would have much rather have been there to see it and watch it live. He wishes he was the one that did it himself. No one cared about Cairo being out for the past month and he says that Sandman is a scum bag and always will be one. Well I’m glad someone calls it like it is. The guy beat and pimped out his wife and he gets hurt and everyone loves him now?

Chris Benoit vs. Ray Odyssey, ref John Finnegan
This could be decent. Some fast action to start and Benoit bails after taking a drop kick. Ray with a plancha. Back in the ring Benoit with a suplex and some chops. Benoit with a stiff clothesline followed by a back elbow for 2. Benoit with a slam and then a sharpshooter. German and northern lights each get a 2 count. Benoit goes for a belly to back but Ray rolls over and lands on top for a 2 count. We cut away as Dreamer shows up backstage and says he wants Cairo back on. Benoit hangs Ray out to dry on the top rope. Slam by Benoit and he heads up top. Diving head butt gets the 1, 2, 3 for Benoit. 5.53 was shown. Not sure if they cut stuff out when they went to Dreamer backstage.

Cairo is back and he makes fun of Sandman more and says he has been enjoying sitting in his garden eating peaches. Dreamer is bent out of shape.

World Champion “The Franchise” Shane Douglas talks about who he has challenged Ric Flair to a shoot but Flair has said no because he is afraid of getting his old ass kicked by Shane. Douglas says the future of wrestling is ECW.

Sabu (w/ Paul E Dangerously) vs. Tag Team Champion Cactus Jack, ref John Finnegan
Cactus hits the ring and attacks. Joey told us before the match that Sabu broke 3 ribs during it. Jack puts Sabu on the middle rope and then goes to the floor. Jack swings a chair but Sabu moves and it hits the ropes and nails Jack. Sabu goes for a springboard moonsault and totally over shoots and lands on the guard rail and probably breaks 3 ribs. We take a commercial break and when we get back 911 has hit the ring and attacked Jack. I assume this is to stall and see if Sabu can continue. Jack throws Sabu down on a chair. Jack goes for a suplex but Sabu reverses. Jack is bleeding likely from his fight with 911. Sabu can barely get up and Jack suplexs a table onto Sabu’s back. Oh god that had to have been so painful. Sabu gets a chair and gets back in the ring and nails Jack. Air sabu, with broken ribs. Sabu misses the arabian face buster 3 times in a row and then fakes a third. Jack rolls out of the way and then rolls back expecting Sabu to be on the ground but instead gets hit in the face with the face buster. Jack comes right back and throws Sabu to the floor where he suplexes him on a table. This all seems so mean. They fight into the crowd. Cactus with a piledriver on a stage. Sabu dives off the stage onto Jack. Back towards the ring Jack goes after Paul E so 911 spikes him into the guard rail. Sabu with a springboard moonsault that puts Jack through a table. Cactus gets a bottle but Sabu fights him off. Split legged moonsault for 2.8. Air sabu but Cactus catches him but then can’t hold him up. Sabu lands on top and gets 2. Sabu nails Cactus in the head 7 times with the bottle before it breaks. You can hear the ping of the glasses on the head of Cactus. My god. Sabu drops on the top rope and comes off with a moonsault for 3. 13.31 is shown.

My thoughts on the show…
Loved it! It’s ECW’s WrestleMania season as we being the build to November to Remember! Truthfully the build had already started maybe two weeks ago but matches have been made official this week. Top to bottom a very good show. All the promos were on point and gave good hype to N2R. The PE match gave a big push on the hardcore tag matches coming up at N2R and the other were good. Sabu did so much if his ribs were legit broken which I can’t see how they weren’t. Cactus getting hit with a bottle 7 times! Great. The one thing I don’t like is that Tommy Cairo is now the bad guy for being glad the wife beating pimp was hurt.

Champions
World: “The Franchise” Shane Douglas
TV: Jason

World Champion “The Franchise” Shane Douglas shit talks Ric Flair.

Opening video.

Joey Styles tells us we will learn what the main event of November to Remember is tonight.

Borne Again tells Scorpio to calm down and learn to control his temper. Borne says he is sorry for getting out of hand but he was feeling anxiety.

Hack Meyers vs. 2 Cold Scorpio, ref Jim Molineaux
Hack able to get in way more offense then expected. Joey suggests Scorpio is off his game as Borne has gotten into his head. Scorpio come back and hits a dive out of the ring. Scorpio comes off the top with a splash but only gets 2. Hack drop a leg on the apron. Hack goes for his finisher but Scorpio pulls him off the top. Scorpio with a tombstone and 450 for the victory in 4.47.

Tommy Dreamer against “Ironman” Tommy Cairo has been added to November to Remember at the Arena on the 5th.

Public Enemy tell Tag Team Champions Mikey Whipwreck and Cactus Jack they are going to be sorry that they show up for the match on the 5th. Grunge tells Jack and Mikey to shine up the belts and take some pictures with them because they are returning to PE.

We get fan comments on the Sandman’s injury. Cairo called in and left a message saying Woman is going to manage him now. The “fans” all sound like a bunch of idiots.

Paul E Dangerously talks about how Sabu broke his ribs. Paul E says Sabu wasn’t mad that he was hurt he was mad that he could possibly lose the match to Jack. Paul E says winning the match cost Sabu a match against Chris Benoit so Paul E sent in 911 instead. We go to clips from the 10-01 Arena show. 911 and Benoit are in the ring. Sabu hobbles down the aisle and Benoit attacks him. Paul E says he thought he had seen it all and then he saw him come down the aisle to wrestle. Sabu is fucking crazy as he still does all his crazy shit. Sabu goes for air sabu but stops because he can’t jump onto the chair. Benoit charges out of the corner with a clothesline and then kills Sabu with the chair. Benoit goes up top and comes off with the diving head butt but Sabu pulls the chair in the way. Sabu goes up top now for a moonsault but Benoit brings up his knees. Paul E says he is glad with the decision the ref made. Just 30 minutes earlier the fans had seen Sandman lose his eye. It was right to stop the match so they didn’t have another wrestler permanently injured. Sabu looks for revenge against Cactus Jack for his injury at N2R Night 1. Paul E then hypes the Benoit match at night 2.

We are at TV Champion Jason’s house. He is laying on the floor with his title. I don’t pay much attention but then they show a bunch of clips from his matches. Jason says he has taken out insurance on the TV Title and that insurance is Dean Malenko. He then sings Joe Cocker’s “You Are So Beautiful” to the belt and kisses it. That was fucking great.

We go to fan cam of Tommy Cairo getting DQed in his match against Mikey Whipwreck. Cairo goes after Mikey with the singapore cane and Tommy Dreamer makes the save with a cane of his own.

Tazmaniac vs. Chris Benoit, ref John Finnegan
Taz with an over head belly to belly. Benoit drop kicks Taz and it sends Taz to the floor. Baseball slide by Benoit. Back in the ring Taz with a german that plants Benoit on the back of his head. To the floor and into the crowd they go. Benoit with a superplex from the top rope. Benoit with a boston crab. Joey announces the main event for NT2 Night 2. It’s Shane Douglas defending against Ron Simmons. Really they waited all show to announce that? T bone suplex by Taz gets 2. Snap suplex by Benoit for 2. Power bomb but again Taz kicks out. Taz back up with a t bone again for only 2. Benoit off the middle rope with a leg drop as the countdown to the end of the time limit begins. Taz with a german for 2. Benoit comes off the rope with the diving head butt for 2. 30 seconds left. Benoit goes back up top Taz cuts him off and hits a super northern lights suplex. Both men are down each with an arm draped across each other but before the ref counts 3 we get a “10” minute time limit draw in 9.22.

Shane Douglas hypes his match with Ron Simmons.

My thoughts on the show…
On a roll here with another good show. Totally disappointed in the main event being Douglas Simmons though. Shane has really had no direction the past few months. All his promos and matches have been decent but he has not had a feud at all.

JIP Woman is at ringside. Stetson with a forearm. Woman on the apron Stetson reaches for the cane and she throws it to Dreamer. Joey wonders if she just messed up and it was an accident. Dreamer nails Stetson as the ref is tied up with Woman. Dreamer covers and “hides” the cane on his side and gets the pin. Only .29 was shown

Chuck Palumbo On How The Billy & Chuck “Commitment” Angle Was To Be Booked

How did The Natural Born Thrillers group handle the push they received:

I’ve got to say and I know all those guys in “The Thrillers” will say the same thing, it was probably some of the best times ever in the wrestling business for us. Number one, we had fun. We are traveling around the country, we are working with these guys who had been over for a while, that part was awesome. We were all young, new to TV so we are just on fire. At the same time as far as the veterans go; here come these young guys with no experience outside of the Power Plant maybe a little bit of Indy, maybe a little bit of Japan and we are coming in and getting pushed. So far guys who were mid card in WCW and never had the opportunity to get pushed up higher or for guys that never made it higher here we come and it could be tough. You’ve got some struggles in there like anything else but all in all I think we ended up gelling okay. But on the other hand you’ve got your guys like Dean Malenko who said these guys don’t belong here, well we didn’t ask to be there we worked hard in the Power Plant and they put us there. So we were going to take what we had and run with it.

Was it too little too late in regards to pushing younger talent by WCW in 2000:

It’s too bad, because I think it was too little too late for the company. At that time WCW was on the downfall, if they had done it earlier I think that maybe it would’ve been better for business. Hats off to Vince Russo and Eric Bischoff for giving us that opportunity. It was really Vince and Eric who decided to do that, which was alright. I think Eric has a great mind for the business. He has a great mind for television in general. He was always great to me and I had a good time. You hear stuff from other guys that didn’t like him and others guys who did but for me personally I enjoyed it. He gave me opportunities and that’s all I can ask for.

The end of WCW:

I was fortunate enough to work on the last Nitro over down in Panama City and honestly we had heard rumors but no one really got the facts until that night when Shane McMahon walked into the locker-room and introduced himself and gave us a rundown of what was going on. We found out (Gerald) Brisco was in the “gorilla-position” and we knew things were changing. I don’t think anybody including Vince McMahon knew ultimately what his plan was. But that was big in the history of wrestling and it’s cool to have been a part of it.

Was the WCW crew frustrated by their utilization following the purchase by WWE:

Looking back now, yeah it’s probably frustrating. But at the time I had only been in the business three years so I was so naive. I figured it was legit, we are coming over and they are going to something with the talent. I just kept busy. I kept working in Mexico and would call JR once a week and say I’m going to work Mexico City and he would say no problem just go for it. Again, for me personally it was okay because I did get to come over right away and do something. For a lot of the other guys they didn’t get the opportunities so I’m sure they have a different opinion.

Looking back on Billy and Chuck and playing a different style character:

I made my best money that I ever made in the industry when that angle was going on. I had the most fun I ever had besides from my early days in WCW, I had most my fun in WWF/WWE while I did that character and it was the easiest thing to do. A lot of guys take the wrestling business too personal and we call it “living the gimmick” or believing in the gimmick and you can’t get that serious about it. It’s a job and you are pretty much a type, you are pretty much acting a part and you have to have fun with it.

Teaming with Billy Gunn and the end game always being The Commitment Ceremony:

Working with Billy Gunn who had an incredible career up to that point, great worker and a great veteran. I learned so much from him. That gimmick was booked out to finish around ratings week which was the wedding. Vince wanted a big number during ratings week. We did it, we knocked them out we were number 1 and that’s how he timed it and that’s what happened. I knew that going into it and if that’s what this guy wants and he’s paying me to do it then lets give him the best Billy and Chuck that we can give him.

His last run in WWE being more of a comfortable role and being more like himself:

In the beginning yes, I was given a push with the biker gimmick. I’ve had the interest in the car and motorcycle thing since I was a kid so it made it a little bit easier to be doing that. So the wrestling fan saw a little bit of what I really was like outside of wrestling but the problem with that whole deal was that it never really happened properly. Right away I get thrown into an angle where I was getting aggressive with women and the angle with (Jamie) Noble and (Michelle) McCool and I felt that it was really distasteful and especially for the younger generation of wrestling fans. You don’t want kids turning on the TV and see a 6’5 300lb biker throwing back elbows at chicks. I wish they couldve done things a little differently but its the business and they pay me and I did what I had to do.

Backstage Talk On Roman Reigns’ WWE RAW Promo, Zeb Colter Update, MSG, Hall

– There was a negative backstage reaction at Monday’s WWE RAW to the lengthy promo that Roman Reigns cut in the ring. There was a feeling that Reigns’ should not have been given that much time for a promo.

On a related note, Reigns cut another lengthy promo at last night’s SmackDown tapings. Like the promo on RAW in Chicago, Reigns was given the “what?” treatment last night by fans in Cincinnati.

– We’ve noted how WWE doesn’t run pay-per-view or TV events from Madison Square Garden anymore due to the high costs of broadcasting from the World’s Most Famous Arena. Regarding the recent WWE Network special with Brock Lesnar vs. Big Show, an internet stream is not considered a television broadcast so the costs were different and it made financial sense to air the event.

– The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that WWE Hall of Famer Scott Hall stated in a recent Philadelphia radio interview that he had a WWE Legends deal at home waiting to be signed. Hall said he’s very thankful that he’s getting another chance to work for WWE. There have been rumors of Hall working with WWE NXT since this past spring.

– I noted recently that there were unconfirmed rumors that the Zeb Colter gimmick would not be brought back to WWE TV. For what it’s worth, Zeb is still under contract to the company but is listed as out of action due to recovering from an injury.
