WWE Blocking Other Promotions from Running WrestleMania Weekend?

0

WWE is taking steps against independent groups running WrestleMania 31 weekend in Santa Clara, CA.

According to the deal that that the WWE made to run the event there, WWE has locked in a no-compete with all city owned facilities in the market as well as several larger hotel chains. Due to this, promoters who usually run conventions and wrestling shows over WrestleMania week have been told that non-competes won’t allow any wrestling events to be held in those venues.

Mick Foley Shoots on Rumble “Hey WWE, What the F?” – TMZ Picks Up Story!

0

The following was taken directly from Mick Foley’s Facebook account where he discusses his thoughts on the WWE Royal Rumble.

HEY WWE….WHAT THE F?

Yes, I’m going to put a brick through my TV. It’s just going to have to wait until tomorrow. I had every intention of putting a brick through my TV tonight, after seeing that Daniel Bryan was not even entered in the Royal Rumble match, let alone going to win the thing. But, upon seeing their dad with a brick in his hand, my younger children got a little bit scared, thinking their dad had lost his mind. A rather spirited debate about the wisdom of following through on the promise to put a brick through my TV ensued with my wife – and, as is usually the case in marital debates, I, being the husband, did not emerge victorious. Honestly, the points she made about mercury and glass fragments everywhere were pretty good ones.

But I’m still going to put a brick through my TV. It’s just going to have to wait until tomorrow – when the kids are in school, and I can take the TV outside the house for the actual throwing of the brick. Granted, it’s not nearly as dramatic as doing it live, right after the Rumble, but at least I will be keeping my word.

As I mentioned on Twitter, I’ve never felt so disgusted at the conclusion of a WWE (or any) PPV. Like many of you out there, I just don’t get it. This Daniel Bryan thing is a phenomenon. You get it. I get it. The fans in Pittsburgh (yes, I was thinking of writing “RIGHT TH…but I’m just not in a cheap pop mood) got it. But tonight, for the first time, I had to admit to myself that the powers that be are just not going to get it. And that makes me sad. I’m just honestly sad, just flat out fucking sad (yes, I dropped an F-bomb there to emphasize how F’ing sad I am for the guys who bust their butts night in and night out – Ziggler, Punk, Bryan, etc – with no hope of getting their shot at this year’s Mania.

You know who else I’m sad for? Me. In my two years as an official WWE Ambassador, I never once had to lie about my enthusiasm for the company or the product. Now, although I am no longer officially an Ambassador for WWE (believe it or not, my only official role in WWE is as GM for Saturday Morning Slam, a contract that ends in one month) I was till looking forward to being part of the biggest event of the year. I’ll probably end up going anyway. But I’m about 1/6th as excited about it as I was just a few hours ago. I wanted so badly to hear 75,000 WWE fans chanting “YES” – and seeing fans walk away absolutely ecstatic about the outcome of a PPV for the first time in a while…a long while. But when given the chance to make it happen (unless they’ve got something MAJOR up their sleeve) WWE’s answer tonight was a resounding “NO, NO, NO”.

Post Rumble News: Orton Upset, Foley Upset, Fans Upset, Notice a Pattern?

0

– Randy Orton was said to be IRATE following his match with John Cena at Royal Rumble. It was said Orton could be heard mumbling about the fans at ringside and Cena telling him to ignore it. Randy apparently threw a fit backstage following the match. The fans laid into both Cena & Orton during the match, brutally heckling the match from cheers of “BORING” to “This is Awful”. The only time the fans picked up cheers was during the final few minutes when Cena & Orton were doing their opponents finishers (Orton doing the STF & AA, Cena with the RKO). The fans had no interest in the match, or the men involved. “Daniel Bryan” chants could loudly be heard, even after Bryan had already wrestled a 20+ minute match only 30 minutes earlier.

– Steve Austin plans to discuss the fans & Daniel Bryan situation on his next podcast. Steve Tweeted the following in regards to the situation. I will cover a few topics about #RoyalRumble on #steveaustinshow. Frustrated with lack of Daniel Bryan push? Questions@steveaustinshow.com” Later Austin Tweeted again, “Got a shit pile of emails regarding last nights #RoyalRumble. Y’all sound a little pissed off. Interesting development…Stay tuned. #WWE

– Curtis Axel wrote on Twitter that he was “pretty pissed” about not being in the Royal Rumble match last night but was happy that he got to meet Pittsburgh Steeler Ben Roethlisberger backstage.

– Xavier Woods tweeted about being replaced in the Rumble match. He claims his number was stolen. I feel bad for anyone who was refused a spot in the match so that JBL could enter for 10 seconds.

– Kevin Nash Tweeted the following about his awkward Royal Rumble appearance “Great to see my buddies and the boys.Pittsburgh thanks for the love. WWE thanks for letting me be apart of the Rumble. Kodiak insane spot”

– Ultimate Warrior commented on the Rumble PPV “Running 18yrs to end up back at WWE home, now they say run into Pittsburg, shake a few ropes, RUMBLE..DAMN! Blew a boot! Running past exit.. inspires many talent to race to the ring for the one night. Only one talent was inspired and (cont) http://tl.gd/n_1s04oj4

– Roman Reigns excelled in his position as the monster of the match, surpassing Kane’s 11 eliminations, by eliminating 12 men. The Rock, Steve Austin, Jim Ross, and Booker T all Tweeted their support of Reigns as a future main eventer after his performance last night. Jim Ross Tweeted “For the cash that I paid for tonight, nothing followed @WWEDanielBryan vs @WWEBrayWyatt. Those two plus @WWERomanReigns shined.”

– Dolph Ziggler made his return from a concussion during the Rumble match last night. Ziggler got a warm ovation and support from the fans, though WWE officials continue to bury him. Ziggler’s abilities were short-lived last night as his time in the Rumble was only for a cup of coffee. The fans weren’t happy about that either. Ziggler acknowledged the fans by tweeting “#RoyalRumble from the bottom of where my heart should be: thank you for reminding me why i still do this!

– Mick Foley wrote a blog on his facebook last night following the RR event. Prior to the event, Foley had promised to put a brick through his TV if Bryan didn’t win the Royal Rumble Match. Mick discussed how the booking of this PPV let him down more than any PPV event in history. I’ll be posting the entire blog in it’s own post shortly.

Batista Mocks Fans After Rumble – In Hot Water with Officials

0

The winner of the Royal Rumble, Batista, was not too pleased with the negative reaction he received during and following his Royal Rumble appearance/win. Fans in general were disinterested in Batista’s appearance, but the very moment #30 was announced as Rey Mysterio instead of Daniel Bryan, well, let’s just say the WWE Universe made it clear they weren’t happy. Not only was Mysterio booed unmercifully throughout his entire stint in the match, the moment Rey was eliminated there was a giant pop from the fans. Even though Rey was announced for the match, and Daniel was not, pretty much everyone on Earth expected Bryan to draw #30, and when that didn’t happen, the fans made sure to let the WWE know what they thought about it.

The crowd continued to crap on the majority of the rest of the finish, including when Sheamus pointed to the WrestleMania XXX banner. At the point it came down to Batista & Roman Reigns, the fans stop booing long enough to favor Reigns, cheering Roman’s name and begging for him to win over the corporate machine Batista. The moment Batista won the match, the fans went into full jeering mode, crapping all over the finish and the booking.

While on camera, Batista ignored the jeers and celebrated as the fans ripped him apart, but once the cameras went off it’s said Batista was calling fans names, flipping them off, and then went to the top of the ramp, turned to face the fans, and mimicked Daniel Bryan’s “YES!” signature back at the Universe. Batista had been so disgusted with the fans that he went full heel and gave it right back. This was said to have upset officials who did not want Batista representing the company, nor his baby face status in that matter.

Tonight, Raw is in Cleveland, another town very similar to Pittsburgh and with the same type of fans. It’ll be interesting to see what happens tonight as part of the Rumble fallout and how the fans react.

Wrestlers, currently employed, and formerly employed by the WWE have come out of the woodwork since last night Tweeting about WWE’s failure to give Bryan the ball. Mick Foley even wrote an uncharacteristically profane blog about the entire situation, stating he’s never been so let down by a PPV ever.

It’s become blatantly obvious to everyone but WWE officials, THIS IS NOT GOING AWAY. WWE needs to address the Universe they claim they listen to and do what’s right for business.
