Raw Pre-Show 6/2/14

– We kick things off with this weeks’ panel consisting of Josh Matthews, Booker T, Alex Riley, and Xavier Woods.

– We go back to Payback and highlights of the Shield defeating Evolution, and the press conference with the Shield that followed… They realllllly need to drop the Press Conference bit, it looks so over the top fake that it’s embarrassing… They’re better off just having Renee Young conduct an interview… Panel discusses the Shield beating the boss…

– We’ve got Paige vs. Cameron being taped for Superstars… Cameron’s playing heel for some reason… They show a good chunk of the match with Paige getting the win with her submission finisher…

– A few shorts clips from the Cena vs. Wyatt match from Payback, and a discussion on the future for both…

– Big E in the ring for some Superstars action against Titus O’Neil… We catch clips from the Daniel Bryan and Stephanie fiasco from last night… For those who missed the PPV, Brie QUITS and then slaps Steph, and you just know the panel follows this up with their thoughts…

– Out come the commentators and we’re 3 short minutes away from Raw… Booker T randomly proclaims himself the best WCW Champion of all time…

– We’ve got Rowan and Harper challenging the Usos tonight…

WWE Raw 6/2/14 from Indianapolis, IN

– It’s Evolution out first in suits, except Randy Orton who’s dressed to wrestle, hmmm… Michael Cole says the fans are mocking them…. HHH puts on a super pissed off face… “Bluetista” chants… HHH informs us that IT’S NOT OVER…. The Shield and the fans don’t get it, HHH says he doesn’t lose, he will never lose, he won’t stop until the Shield no longer exists…

Batista says he’s done with the Shield, he wants a WWE Title match, period… HHH takes the mic back and says he’s the boss and the leader… Batista says he doesn’t care about HHH’s plan, he doesn’t care about the Shield, he wants a WWE Title match, and he wants it TONIGHT…. HHH reminds Batista that Daniel Bryan is injured and can’t defend… HHH says even if the match happened, Batista would choke… HHH apologizes for the hostility… He says Batista can have his title shot, but not until Batista helps him take out the Shield…

Batista says he understands….. and he QUITS!!!!! Batista leaves the building… HHH tells him not to come back when his movie fails… HHH yells for Batista to come back, but he’s GONE…. Tister quits…. Again….

The fans initially pop for Batista quitting, but he leaves so fast and the segment ends so abruptly, the fans just go silent… HHH it all pissed, and Orton just stands in this entire segment as an afterthought…

-Commercial Break-

– Interview backstage with Batista as he leaves, he’s sick of being lied to, the empty promises, he’s DONE…

1. Sheamus & Rob Van Sam vs. Bad News Barrett & Cesaro (w/Paul Heyman). Paul heyman on commentary. Sheamus and Cesaro go at it for the first couple of minutes, then Barrett tags in to take over, but Sheamus gets the tag to RVD… RVD and Barrett go at it for a minute before Bad News tosses Van Dam to the floor and we go to commercial…

Back from break, Barrett hits RVD with a big boot for 2… Cesaro tags in with the gutwrench, and they stumble before he gets it off… Barrett back in and he’s all over RVD, knocking him back to the floor.. Cesaro tags back in and throws RVD into the barricade and then back inside… The heels dominate, Cesaro takes a cheapshot and sends Sheamus off the apron… RVD finally takes Cesaro down and hot tags to Sheamus, just as Cesaro tags Barrett… The two champs go at it… Sheamus takes down both heels… Sheamus calls for the Brogue on Cesaro but Heyman warns him in time and he moves… Barrett attacks with the Winds of Change on Sheamus for 2…. Heyman and Cesaro leave ringside, walking off and leaving Barrett to fight alone… RVD tags in, Sheamus hits the Brogue kick on Barrett and RVD finishes it off with the Frog Splash for the win in 14:00…

I’d call this a good “Raw match”… The tag formula was basic, which means it was good, and the match was okay… Nothing great, but it was good for free TV…

I admire then getting both Sheamus and RVD out of the way in the same segment of the show, they actually work much better this way, but I fear what this may open up time for as the show progresses…

-Commercial Break-

– We’re back with Damien Sandow as “Lance Stephenson”, he puts over Lebron James and rips on the Indiana Pacers… Lots of cheap heat, and this random gimmick thing NEVER works… There’s a basketball hoop in the ring as Sandow does basketball “tricks”… And now here comes the Big Show, and we’re not even 40 minutes into the show and we’ve got comedy segment number one…

Sandow talks about his “mad skills” and asks Big Show if “he got game”… Sandow passes Show the ball and tells him to try and score past him… Big Show throws the ball back at him, KNOCKS HIM OUT with the punch, and then Slam Dunks the ball in the hoop which might be 6 feet tall…

I like to think I have a pretty good sense of humor, but I have no idea what the point of this type of crap is… I know it might have got some chuckle or some anger from the locals, but in general, the segment by itself, just… why? And the stock drops another 0.68% and they wonder why…

-Commercial Break-

2. Kofi Kingston vs. Bo Dallas. It’s our match we never got last night… It’s nice to see Kofi back so soon, and he’s always smiling no matter how much they crap on him… Now that’s a company man… Bo starts off with even more cheat heat on the Pacers… Dallas says the Heat won, especially Lebron, is because they all BO-LIEVE…. Kingston with some fancy footwork early, but Bo counters a backdrop with a neckbreaker and takes over… Bo preaches and talks about Bo-Lieving during the match.. The fans chant “BO-Ring”… clever…. Kofi back on top with some chops, a dropkick and a splash in the corner for 2… Kingston with a monkey flip and high cross body for 2… Kingston lands a big kick and tries another monkey flip but Bo drops him across the top rope… They screw up a Bo-Dog and Kofi lands on Bo’s leg, somebody will be getting talked to in the back for that one no doubt… Bo gets the win, even with the botched finish… Match was 4:00….

Bo takes a celebration lap around ringside and tries to hug Kofi but gets pushes away…

– Renee Young with Stephanie in the back. Steph says she’s going to the ring to make an announcement about the WWE Title… Next!

-Commercial Break-

– Stephanie McMahon is out, talking about how Daniel Bryan made Brie fall on the sword last night, and how Bryan was selfish last night thinking about himself over the fans. Stephanie announces that IF Bryan can compete at MITB he will face Kane in a Stretcher Match… NO NO NO NO NO… If Bryan can’t compete, then the WWE World Title will be vacated and the winner of the MITB match will be the new champion…. So what was the point of getting him to surrender the title last night if you can just strip him anyway???

John Cena is out… Lots of heat on Cena, “Cena Sucks”… Cena tells Stephanie that what she’s doing with the WWE Title is not “best for business”… Cena says nobody is bigger than the WWE Title, not even the spoiled Stephanie… Cena puts Daniel Bryan over to no end, and says he’s a real champion and he’s been screwed… Stephanie says Bryan isn’t a true champion like Cena because he can’t defend the title…

Cena says Stephanie’s hatred for Bryan has screwed up BUSINESS, and that Stephanie sucks as a boss and has screwed up the entire WWE because of her dwelling on Bryan… Cena gives her a 0 on a scale of 1-10…. Stephanie doesn’t care what “grade” Cena gives her… Stephanie makes a match with Cena vs. Kane tonight to show how tough he is… and the match is right now…

Stephanie says Payback is a bitch, but so is she… And only a bitch would book a Kane match for me to watch, so I tend to agree…

And here comes Kane…. I won’t blame you if you hit the bathroom now… Here’s a segment or two of crap coming… You have the option of not sitting through it, I on the other hand… not so lucky…

-Commercial Break-

3. John Cena vs. Kane.
Thankfully, the match started during break, so it saves me from at least one minute of crap… Kane is working over Cena as we come back… Cena hits a dropkick, but Kane right back on top with a side slam for 2… Kane tries the chokeslam and Cena does a hokey escape, followed by the basic shoulderblock, blue thunder bomb thingy, and five knuckle shuffle routine… Cena tries to AA but Kane escapes… Cena needs a new finisher, everyone escapes… Kane knocks Cena into the corner and beats him down, drawing a crappy DQ win for Cena in 4:00…

But hey it’s over right????

No, Kane continues, driving Cena into the stairs. Kane tries to tombstone Cena on the steps, but John slides behin and shoves Kane into the post, then throws the stairs at Kane… You ever notice the steps get ten times heavier when Cena lifts them than when anyone else does??? Anyway, so Cena throws the stairs at Kane’s arm, and somehow that knocks Kane out…. Cena exits quickly, and Kane snaps like he’s Alicia Fox… No wait, his tantrum wasn’t nearly as crazy or long as Alicia’s, so Kane looks second rate…

All I can say is, all of the Kane stuff was over in 6:00, so I can’t complain. It could have been far worse, like a Bryan vs. Kane stretcher match or something…

– Renee Young interviews Randy Orton. Randy says Batista took his ball and went home, but Orton is still on the same page with HHH…. Orton says he will wrestle Roman Reigns tonight…

And if you’re keeping track, we’re half way through the show… 90 minutes… and we’ve had 3 matches, two of which lasted 4:00…

-Commercial Break-

We just finished a “serious segment”, so now….. Sigh… It’s back to what they call “comedy”…

3MB bring out Hornswoggle, who is now sporting an Afro with a pick in it… Might be Darren Young’s pick while he’s away…

Michael Cole reference Welcome Back Kotter….

4. Los Matadores (w/Torito) vs. 3MB – Heath Slater and Drew McIntyre (w/Hornswoggle & Jinder Mahal ). Torito rips Hornswoggle’s wig off, Horny runs away, Heath Slater gets distracted and rolled up… Whole thing went about a minute… Matadores win, and this entire crapfest has ran it’s course… Should add that Hornswoggle left his hair the way it looked after getting it cut last night, for some reason he opted not to get the rest of it cut/shaven… Stupid…

Just more of your WWE humor…. as the stock drops another 0.39%….

-Commercial Break-

– WWE Special Olympics promo. Can the WWE do ANYTHING related to charity or support without making it public??

5. Nikki Bella vs. Alicia Fox and Aksana. Stephanie made this match out of spite to Brie Bella… Fox hits Nikki in the back early on to give the heels the advantage… Nikki tries a roll up on Fox for 2… but Fox comes back with a scissors kick to the back of Nikki’a head for the win in just over a minute…

Even when Fox wins she’s nutty, doing another of her “crazy” routines… Aksana and Fox take Nikki the floor and beat her down some more… tossing Bella into the barricade to finish her off…

– Luke Harper promo from the back. We see an empty rocking chair where Bray Wyatt usually sits… Harper says they continue what Wyatt started… Harper and Rowan will make the Usos pay for their interference last night. Rowan tells everyone to follow the buzzards… A short promo, but Harper was great in it…

For the record, the last 4 matches combined may have went 10 minutes. One was a DQ, one was “comedy”, and then the Divas handicap thing… Some quality stuff here tonight…

-Commercial Break-

And the quality just keeps rolling on… I love me some Zeb Colter, but Adam Rose may very well be the worst thing I’ve seen in a while…

I don’t know if ANYTHING has ever annoyed me more than these Adam Rose “rosebuds”…

6. Adam Rose vs. Jack Swagger (w/Zeb Colter). Rose does a few counters and slaps Swagger’s ass each time… Adam finally goes to wrestling but takes a big boot from Swagger… Swagger with a submission, Rose escapes and makes the comeback… We get “CM Punk” chants as Adam Rose lands a Bronco Buster and the “Party Foul” finisher for what was almost a squash in 3:00…

More partying with the rosebuds….

– Byron Saxton is backstage with the Usos… They meet Rowan and Harper tonight and it’s non-title, which almost assures the Wyatts will win, and definitively assures that the match doesn’t even really matter… Short promo, but fun and shows off their personalities… Worked for me…

-Commercial Break-

– Lights go out, and when they come back on Rowan and Harper are standing in the ring…

7. WWE Tag Champs The Usos vs. Rowan and Harper. Non-title, which lowered my interest by about 80%… but the match should still be good, so that’s better than almost everything else tonight… The Wyatts works the taped ribs of Jimmy Uso early… Jey Uso tags in and takes over control, but he too eventually gets dropped by the Wyatts. Extended heat on Jey, with Rowan in there quite a while on the offense… Jey eventually crawls through the legs of Rowan and makes a diving tag to brother Jimmy… Jimmy sends Rowan to the floor, and the Usos double superkick Harper to the floor… The Usos have the Wyatts rethinking things on the outside as we take a break…

Back from break, the Wyatts are back in control of Jimmy Uso… Rowan misses a change in the corner and Jimmy follows up with the whisper in the wind dive off the top. Hot tag to Jey and Luke Harper…Jey hits the spinning Shelton Bejamin kick and then lands a flying butt to the head of Harper in the corner for 2… Rowan distracts Jey, and Harper comes back with a big boot for 2… Jey still manages to comes back with a dropkick from the middle rope and a Samoan Drop… Jey climbs to the top rope for the Superfly Splash on Harper, but Rowan tries to interfere and Jey dives outside onto Erick…. Harper then lands a suicide dive onto Jey… Jimmy Uso then hits a flying dive over the top rope onto Harper…

Harper rolled back inside, Jey comes off with the big splash from the top but Harper gets his knees up…. Harper charges for the big clothesline, but runs into a Superkick for 1….2….NO!!!! Harper kicks out!!!

Rowan blind tags in, but Jey almost pins him with a school boy… Harper and Jimmy Uso end up tossed to the floor, and Rowan nails a sitout Rock Bottom type move for the win in 16:00….

First half of the match felt a little slow, but given the time they were allotted I can see why… A really drawn out finish spot had lots of near falls and close calls… Not necessarily their best match against each other, but it was fine… Certainly the best thing thus far tonight…

– Apparently we have a Money in the Bank Qualifying Match next… Dolph Ziggler vs. Alberto Del Rio… Okay, that was abrupt…

-Commercial Break-

8. Dolph Ziggler vs. Alberto Del Rio. We know the winner of this match goes to Money in the Bank… I hate to think what this means for the loser… Ziggler’s the better choice for a ladder match, but they clearly like Del Rio better, not that it’s saying much… Del Rio tries the armbreaker early, Ziggler comes back with ten of the elbow drops he almost killed Jerry Lawler with… Del Rio comes back to work the arm… ADR tries a tilt-a-whirl but Dolph lands on his feet and hits a dropkick… Dolph with a splahs in the corner, ADR fights back but Ziggler hits the Famouser for a near fall… ADR with the tilt-a-whirl backbreaker for 2, and climbs the top rope, but Ziggler jumps up and hits a FACEBUSTER OFF THE TOP…. But again ADR kicks out…

Some counters by both men, Ziggler tries the Zigzag, but ADR holds the ropes, Del Rio goes for the superkick but Ziggler ducks. Dolph tries for a jumping DDT, but ADR shoves him off and puts on the cross armbreaker for the submission in 6:00….

Yup, great booking here… Way to go WWE… Put over a guy that NOBODY cares about and won’t do crap in a Ladder match vs. a guy who is over with YOUR fan base and could only enhance the Ladder Match… Brilliant… I question those inside WWE’s ability to go with business over personal issues… It’s no secret someone, or a group of someone’s inside WWE don’t like Ziggler… Then why use him? Do they get off on screwing him around? Well that’s crappy business… Do they realize that he’s over and can actually enhance their upcoming PPV product but opt to go with a guy who is essentially the opposite? Where is any of that “smart business”? I know I shouldn’t be shocked at this stage, but seriously, sometimes I just get SOOOO disgusted…

-Commercial Break-

They replay last night when Cody Rhodes tells Goldust to get a new partner…

9. Goldust & Sin Cara vs. Ryback and Curtis Axel. Goldy’s partner tonight is Sin Cara… Story goes that Cody picked Cara… So what now? Goldust teams with a bunch of random jobbers and loses, so that Cody can “realize” Goldust was the weak link? Jerry Lawler and JBL discuss the Ding Dongs from NWA lore… Lots of Goldberg chants at Ryback tonight… Goldust looking good early against Rybaxel… But when the heels take over, Cody Rhodes is shown watching from backstage… Standing dropkick by Axel on Goldust… Ryback misses something and Goldust tags to Cara to the silence of the fans… Axel tags in and Cara goes flippy on him… Handspring elbow on Axel gets 2… Ryback interferes but GOldust disposes of him… Cara with an enzuigiri on Axel, but misses a somersault senton… Axel hits the twisting neckbreaker finisher for the win…

Goldust checks on Cara after the match…

-Commercial Break-

– Next we have Rusev in a “Hero of The Russian Federation Ceremony”.

Boy, they’re just squeezing everything they can into this episode….

Of course, we have Lana out first… “USA” chants during her promo… She comes back with the ever so clever “shut up”… Lana puts over Edward Snowden… and Vladimir Putin… Oh, Vince has been waiting years to have a reason to crap on a world leader, he’s eating up the Putin stuff no doubt…

Rusev is announced, wearing a suit and his hair slicked back, as he heads to the ring for his Russian Hero Ceremony… Rusev steps up onto a gold medal type platform. Rusev receives the Golden Star Medal… Rusev speaks Bulgarian or whatever as the fans respond with “WHAT?” chants…

Lana takes back over on the mic… She asks that everyone rise for the Russian National Anthem… As the anthem plays, confetti falls from the sky… Unfortunately, there’s no Nikolai Volkoff, though he should totally be involved…

-Commercial Break-

10. Roman Reigns (w/The Shield) vs. Randy Orton.

We’re reminded for the 475th time tonight that Batista has QUIT! Boy have they played that sound bite out in one night’s time…

It’s 11pm on the dot, and Dean Ambrose starts to talk… Not exactly leaving a promising amount of time for the main event… Rollins says it was adapt or perish, and the Shield adapted while Evolution perished… Reigns is ready to break Orton’s face…

Now I’m starting to wonder if the Batista quitting thing was a worked work… Meaning Evolution is up to shenanigans…

HHH stops in the aisle, and says he adapted… HHH says last night Plan A failed, but now it’s time for Plan B…

SETH ROLLINS TURNS… Well, of the three guys I didn’t see that coming… Rollins beats the crap out of Reigns and Ambrose with a steel chair…

All I can think is… Really? You turn Rollins before Ambrose??? The guy that does all of the big baby face spots turns on the natural heel Ambrose?

Rollins curb stomps Ambrose into a chair, and then hands the chair off to Orton who beats the crap out of Reigns with it before landing an RKO…

The Shield defeat all of Evolution last night, and Rollins thinks it’s a great idea to break away the next day? Without any real build? I don’t know where this is going other than some Rollins vs. Ambrose stuff, but this was bad timing and poorly booked IMO….

What an abrupt ending to the most over team/unit/faction in YEARS…. Stupid move… That’s WWE for you…

[spacer height=”20px”]

WWE Raw “Backstage Pass” Post Show

– HHH, Orton and Seth Rollins are still in the ring standing over what’s left of the Shield… Alex Riley calls it the stupidest move ever… Couldn’t agree more… Don’t try to fix one of the few things that isn’t broken… And the abruptness of it all… Was this panic mode after the 2.6 rating last week? Whatever it was, I can name 10 reasons why this move was stupid at this exact point in time…

We go back and watch the turn again, Renee Young tries to interview Rollins but he walks away. HHH speaks briefly instead, pretty much what you’d expect… He’s smart, blah blah blah…

Panel continues to discuss the angle for the entire post show… And that’ll do it…

Fighting Spirit Review: Chigusa Nagayo Produce “MARVELOUS NIGHT VI” on 3/22/14

0

Date:  March 22nd, 2014
Location:  Ota Ward Gymnasium Tokyo
Announced Attendance:  3,500

Another new promotion to review!  I am jumping ahead mostly for that reason, I am trying to get as many different promotions represented for 2014.  Chigusa Nagayo doesn’t produce shows very often so it’s not really a promotion per se, more just Nagayo and her friends (plus whatever Freelancers she can get).  But the announced attendance is shockingly high so clearly in Tokyo they really care about something on this card.  Maybe it is Dump Matsumoto.  Anyway, here is the full card:

– No Rules Match: Chigusa Nagayo, Kagetsu, and Takumi Iroha vs. Dump Matsumoto, KAORU, and Yoshiko
– Eiger vs. Sakura Hirota Kyusei
– Hiroyo Matsumoto, Shimono, and Yamashita vs. Ohata, Mio Shirai, and Tsukasa Fujimoto
– Kyoko Inoue and Yumiko Hotta vs. Mima Sareee and Shimoda
– DASH Chisako and Sendai Sachiko vs. Natsuki * Taiyo and Io Shirai
– KAORU, Takako Inoue, and Hamada vs. Kandori, Satomura, and Toshie Uematsu

Some of these matches are badly clipped up, just a fair warning.

Chigusa Nagayo, Kagetsu, and Takumi Iroha vs. Dump Matsumoto, KAORU, and Yoshiko

This is a No Rules Match.  They battle in the crowd as soon as the match starts, with Dump and company generally getting the better of things.  Matsumoto gets back in the ring  with a kendo stick and just waits until Iroha is slid back in the ring with her.  Matsumoto hits Iroha with the stick and punches her to the mat, cover, but it gets a two count.  Quick inside cradle by Iroha, but the referee is stopped from making the count.  Matsumoto throws Iroha in the corner, Kagetsu comes in the ring and dropkicks Matsumoto.  A second dropkick by Kagetsu and a third, but Matsumoto shrugs them off and punches Kagetsu to the mat.  Matsumoto gets a… metal stick and stabs Kagetsu in the face with it a few times.  Some of Matsumoto’s friends come in to interfere but Kagetsu knocks her out of the ring, but Matsumoto hits Kagetsu with a lariat followed by a body press.  Matsumoto kicks Kagetsu into the corner so that Nagayo can tag herself into the ring.  KAORU comes in the ring and hits Nagayo with a board, but Nagayo hits Matsumoto with a series of uppercuts.  Nagayo goes off the ropes but is it from the floor, Yoshiko and KAORU come into the ring and KAORU stomps on Nagayo.  Matsumoto picks up Nagayo and puts her into the corner, and she gets stabbed with the metal tool as well.  Matsumoto then gets her kendo stick and chokes Nagayo with it, KAORU then gets a chain and with Yoshiko she puts it around her neck before pulling on both sides.  They keep choking Nagayo before putting her near the ropes so the outside wrestlers could help as well.  Iroha and Kagetsu consider getting in the ring but Matsumoto threatens them with the kendo stick.

KAORU then hits Nagayo with the wooden board three times.  Another board shot by KAORU and she slams Nagayo in front of the corner.  KAORU goes up to the top turnbuckle with a piece of the board and drops it onto Nagayo.  KAORU hits her with it some more before bopping Iroha and Kagetsu as well.  Yoshiko comes into the ring as the legal woman and hits the boot scrapes in the corner.  Irish whip by Yoshiko but Nagayo hits a spinning heel kick and tags in Iroha, Iroha hits a heel kick onto Yoshiko and covers her, but it gets a two count.  Iroha picks up Yoshiko and goes for a suplex but Yoshiko blocks it and hits a lariat.  Yoshiko goes off the ropes but Kagetsu hits a swandive missile dropkick.  KAORU comes in the ring and is elbowed by Iroha and Kagetsu, double Irish whip and she gets a double elbow to the gut.  Nagayo comes in the ring and they hit a triple powerbomb onto KAORU, cover, but it gets two.  Nagayo picks up KAORU again but KAORU slides down her back.  Kick to the head by Nagayo to KAORU, cover, but it gets a two count.  Nagayo grabs KAORU but KAORU hits a quick Michinoku Driver.  KAORU picks up Nagayo and hits a second one, cover, but it gets a two count.  A ladder is randomly slid into the ring, and they set up the ladder in the corner.  KAORU climbs the ladder and hits  a moonsault from the very top of it down onto Nagayo.  Cover, but it only gets two.  KAORU goes up the ladder a second time but Nagayo has recovered and climbs up the other side.  Nagayo grabs Iroha and hits a superplex from the top of the ladder.  Cover by Nagayo, but Matsumoto breaks it up.  Yoshiko stomps on Nagayo while KAORU folds up the ladder and swings it into Nagayo’s face.  Kagetsu and Iroha get the same treatment, KAORU lays the ladder onto Nagayo and goes off the ropes, but Iroha grabs her from the apron.

Yoshiko runs in and hits a senton onto the ladder that is on top of Nagayo, she puts the ladder back onto Nagayo and goes up to the top turnbuckle, hitting a diving senton.  Cover by Yoshiko, but both Kagetsu and Iroha break it up.  Yoshiko grabs Nagayo and applies the Scorpion Deathlock, but Nagayo gets to the ropes.  Yoshiko hits a senton onto Nagayo, cover, but it gets a two count.  Yoshiko picks up Nagayo but Nagayo hits a backdrop suplex.  Nagayo tags in Kagetsu as Iroha comes in as well, double Irish whip to Yoshiko but Matsumoto comes in the ring and hits a lariat onto both of them.  She goes for it again but Iroha and Kagetsu duck and hit Matsumoto with a double dropkick.  Nagayo comes back in the ring, they all grab a different opponent and apply Scorpion Deathlocks until it is broken up by a wrestler at ringside.  Matsumoto gets a metal box and goes to hit Nagayo with it but Nagayo punches it away.  Scoop slam by Nagayo to Matsumoto, she picks up Matsumoto and hits a second slam.  Cover, but it gets a two count.  Nagayo gets the metal box and hits Matsumoto in the head with it, but KAORU blocks her from doing it again and takes the metal box.  KAORU goes to throw the box at Nagayo, but Nagayo ducks and Matsumoto is hit by accident.  Nagayo gets a bunch of light tubes and hits Matsumoto in the head, school boy by Nagayo and she picks up the three count.  Your winners:  Chigusa Nagayo, Kagetsu, and Takumi Iroha

Match Thoughts:  Sadly, this match was not clipped.  Honestly this match was better than I thought it would be, when I saw the participants and the match length I groaned but the match kept at a decent pace.  The heel beat down segments were fine and the older wrestler weren’t asked to do too much.  Some of the spots were pretty awesome, if you cut out the few times the action dragged it would have been really entertaining.  The ending did come across flat, here you have all these weapons and big moves and the match ends on a delayed school boy (meaning it wasn’t a sneaky play).  But beyond that and a few slow parts, it was actually definitely above average.  Score:  6.0

Eiger vs. Sakura Hirota Kyusei

Eiger lariats Kyusei as the match starts, kick to the stomach by Eiger, Irish whip and Eiger zombies around a bit behind Kyusei.  Kyusei finally notices her, Eiger goes for a lariat but Kyusei ducks and hits a body press for a two count.  Eiger kicks back Kyusei and hits a Samoan Drop.  Kyusei rolls out of the ring to re-group, Kyusei gets on the microphone and kvetches about something.  Nagayo comes down and comes into the ring with Kyusei, I am assuming so that she won’t be scared of Eiger.  But I don’t know what they are saying so I am guessing.  Kyusei and Nagayo both put on t-shirts before dancing for a bit.  Kyusei talks on the microphone some more until Eiger finally comes back in the ring, Nagayo and Kyusei Irish whip Eiger and they punch her in the stomach.  Kyusei lies down and Nagayo catapults her on top of Kyusei for a two count cover.  Eiger rolls out of the ring and Nagayo exits the ring as well.  Kyusei celebrates on the top turnbuckle with a headstand as Eiger gets back into the ring, and Kyusei hits a headscissors.  Kyusei goes off the ropes and hits a hurricanrana for a two count cover.  Kyusei goes for a Shining Wizard but Eiger avoids it by… moving her knee out of the way.  Waistlock by Eiger, Kyusei turns around while in the hold but Kyusei spits mist in her face.  Kyusei turns back around, and Eiger hits a German suplex hold for the three count.  Your winner:   Eiger

Match Thoughts:  So this was just a silly comedy match, but I give it credit as I have never seen someone block a Shining Wizard by just moving their knee.  It is genius.  If you move your knee they can’t step up, and can’t do the move.  I hope that Mutoh’s opponents don’t see this video or he is in serious trouble.  Other than that I didn’t really get a lot of the comedy, but it kept me mildly amused anyway.  Score:  5.0

Hiroyo Matsumoto, Sawako Shimono, and Rina Yamashita vs. Misaki Ohata, Mio Shirai, and Tsukasa Fujimoto

This match is extremely Joined in Progress, with Yamashita hitting a backdrop suplex onto Yamashita.  Cover, but Fujimoto breaks it up.  Yamashita goes off the ropes but Ohata drop toeholds her onto the second rope and Fujimoto dropkicks her in the back.  Running crossbody by Ohata, cover, but it gets a two count.  Ohata picks up Yamashita but Shimono runs in and hits a body block onto Ohata.  This brings Shirai and Fujimoto into the ring as well, they Irish whip Shimono and Yamashita and both connect with high kicks.  Matsumoto comes into the ring and she hits a double back suplex onto Shirai and Fujimoto.  Ohata charges Matsumoto and hits a crucifix drop.  Ohata goes off the ropes but Yamashita catches her with a lariat, cover, but it picks up a two count.  Yamashita picks up Ohata but Fujimoto runs in and dropkicks Yamashita.  German suplex hold by Ohata, but the pin attempt is broken up.  Ohata drags Yamashita to the middle of the ring; she goes up to the top turnbuckle and nails the diving body press.  Cover, and she picks up the three count.  Your winners:  Misaki Ohata, Mio Shirai, and Tsukasa Fujimoto

Match Thoughts:  I spent more time researching who a few of these wrestlers were than it took to actually watch the match.  Most of it was obviously missing, which is kinda a shame since I like Shirai.  Not enough shown here but what was shown was fine.  Score:  N/A

Kyoko Inoue and Mima Sareee  vs. Yumiko Hotta and Mima Shimoda

This match is also Joined in Progress, double Irish whip by Hotta and Shimoda to Sareee but Sareee ducks the lariat and pushes Sareee into Hotta.  German suplex hold by Sareee to Shimoda, but Hotta breaks it up.  Sareee grabs Shimoda and hits another German suplex hold, but it gets a two count.  Shimoda quickly rolls up Sareee, but it gets two as well and Shimoda tags in Hotta.  Victory roll by Sareee to Hotta and she dropkicks Hotta twice in the face.  Sareee goes up to the top turnbuckle but Hotta gets her feet up and kicks Sareee in the head.  Hotta picks up Sareee, Sareee goes for a backslide but Hotta blocks it. Heel kick by Hotta to Sareee, she picks up Sareee and hits a double underhook powerbomb.  Cover, but Inoue breaks it up.  We clip ahead as now Inoue is in the ring with Shimoda.  Inoue accidentally drives Shimoda back into the referee, and a wrestler from the outside hits Inoue in the head with a steel chair.  Shimoda goes up to the top turnbuckle and hits Inoue in the head with a wooden board.  Shimoda goes up to the top turnbuckle but Inoue has recovered, she climbs up top as well and Inoue hits a superplex.  Cover, but it gets a two count.  Inoue picks up Shimoda but Hotta kicks her from behind.  Double Irish whip to Inoue but she drops both with a double lariat.  Inoue picks up Shimoda and nails a powerbomb, cover, and she picks up the three count.  Your winners: Kyoko Inoue and Mima Sareee

Match Thoughts:  We saw very little of this match, which is probably a good thing as what we saw was a bit sloppy.  Sareee is cute as hell but there wasn’t too much else redeeming about the bit that did make tape. Sometimes clipping matches is ok.  Score:  N/A

DASH Chisako and Sendai Sachiko vs. Natsuki * Taiyo and Io Shirai

Joined in Progress with Chisako and Sachiko Irish whipping Taiyo out of the corner, but Taiyo escapes out of it and Shirai comes back into the ring.  Shirai and Chisako grab Sachiko, Shirai kicks Sachiko and Taiyo hits an armdrag.  Double 619 by Shirai and Taiyo and they hit a double elbow drop followed by a double dropkick.  We clip ahead with Chisako battling with Shirai, and she hits a cutter.  Sachiko hits a release German suplex onto Shirai and Chisako comes off the top turnbuckle with a diving body press for a two count cover.  Sachiko is tagged in and she hits a DDT onto Shirai.  Sachiko goes up to the top turnbuckle but Taiyo runs in the ring and armdrags Sachiko off the top turnbuckle to the floor.  Shirai hits a running double knee onto Sachiko in the corner, cover, but it gets a two count.  Shirai grabs Sachiko but Chisako comes off the top turnbuckle with a dropkick to Shirai.  Sachiko goes up to the second turnbuckle and kicks back Shirai before hitting a tornado DDT.  Missile dropkick by Chisako and Sachiko hits a German suplex hold, but it gets a two count.  Sachiko positions Shirai in the middle of the ring, she goes up to the top turnbuckle but Taiyo kicks her off and down to the floor.  Shirai then goes up to the top turnbuckle and hits a moonsault down onto Sachiko on the floor.  Shirai gets back into the ring as does Sachiko, Shirai goes up to the top turnbuckle and hits a somersault kick.  Cover, but Sachiko gets a shoulder up.  Shirai picks up Sachiko, Sachiko elbows her off and hits a superkick, she holds Shirai for Chisako but Shirai moves and Chisako dropkicks Sachiko by accident.  Taiyo takes care of Chisako, then Shirai and Taiyo both hit palm strikes onto Sachiko.  Shirai picks up Sachiko and nails the Suplex De Io, and she picks up the three count pinfall.  Your winners:  Natsuki * Taiyo and Io Shirai

Match Thoughts:  I like this Shirai too.  Maybe I just like every wrestler with the name Shirai?  Anyway this was all clipped to hell which is unfortunate because I would have loved it.  All of these wrestlers are entertaining, I am not as familiar with Chisako but she looked fine in the parts I saw of this match.  Everything we saw was fast paced, great teamwork, fun all the way around.  It being clipped from 19 minutes to 4 minutes makes me a sad panda.  Score:  N/A

KAORU, Takako Inoue, and Ayako Hamada vs. Kandori, Meiko Satomura, and Toshie Uematsu

KAORU and Uematsu start things off.  Tie-up, but they break cleanly.  Tie-up again, side headlock by KAORU, Uematsu tries to Irish whip out of it but KAORU slams on the breaks.  Snap suplex by Uematsu, KAORU pushes Uematsu into the ropes as Hamada and Inoue come in the ring.  Double Irish whip to Uematsu and all three women kick her.  Uematsu is thrown into the corner, Hamada slaps her, Inoue hits an elbow and KAORU follows with a big kick.  Hamada and Inoue hold Uematsu, KAORU then gets on top of Uematsu and they pose for the crowd.  Kandori interrupts the festivities and breaks up the pyramid, Uematsu tries to tag out but KAORU stops her.  KAORU tags in Inoue and Inoue hits a snap DDT onto Uematsu.  Reverse chinlock by Inoue and she applies a stretch hold.  Uematsu inches to the ropes and he manages to make it to the ropes.  Inoue picks up Uematsu and Inoue bites Uematsu in the hand.  Armbreaker by Inoue, she grabs Uematsu and throws her into the corner.  Inoue goes for a lariat but Uematsu moves and hits a lariat of his own.  Uematsu hits a facewash on Inoue in the corner followed by a running boot to the face.  Uematsu gets a running start and kicks her again before standing on her head in the corner.  We jump ahead as now Satomura and KAORU are in the ring together.

KAORU avoids Satomura’s lariat but KAORU gets a board and hits Satomura repeatedly in the head with it before bonking Uematsu and Kandori as well.  KAORU goes to hit Satomura again but Satomura ducks and hits a lariat.  Slingshot doublestomp by Satomura and she hits a second one.  Satomura goes off the ropes and hits a cartwheel leg drop.  Satomura picks up KAORU but Hamada kicks her from behind.  Big boot by KAORU, and we again clip ahead to Hamada and Uematsu battling in the ring.  Hamada and Uematsu trade elbows but Uematsu ducks one and rolls up Hamada for a two count.  Dropkick by Uematsu, he goes up to the top turnbuckle and hits a diving crossbody.  KAORU comes but Hamada hits her by accident.  Uematsu goes off the ropes but eats a double boot by KAORU and Hamada.  KAORU and Hamada hit a double elbow drop onto Uematsu, then a double dropkick.  KAORU picks up Uematsu along with Hamada, and they hit a double vertical suplex.  Cover, but it gets a two count.  Hamada picks up Uematsu and goes for a powerbomb but Uematsu gets away.  Superkick by Hamada, Inoue comes in the ring and scoop slams Uematsu.  Moonsault by Hamada, KAORU comes in the ring and goes up top, but Satomura grabs her from the apron.  Uematsu hits a running dropkick on Hamada, falling out of the ring in the process.  Uematsu goes up top and hits a missile dropkick onto Hamada, but Hamada hits a sitdown powerbomb onto Uematsu.  Cover, but it gets a two count.  KAORU is tagged in, KAORU grabs Uematsu and hits a brainbuster.  Cover, but it gets a two count.

KAORU picks up Uematsu but Uematsu lands on her feet and rolls up KAORU for a two count cover.  Uematsu goes up to the top turnbuckle but Hamada rolls into the ring and joins Uematsu up top.  Superplex by Hamada, Inoue comes in the ring and kicks Uematsu in the head.  Hurricanrana by KAORU to Uematsu, but it only gets a two count.  KAORU picks up Uematsu and hits a backdrop suplex, she picks up Uematsu and hits a second one.  Cover, but he gets a two count.  KAORU picks up Uematsu but Uematsu applies a cradle for a two count.  KAORU hits a big boot onto Uematsu, she goes up to the top turnbuckle, but again Satomura grabs her.  Uppercut by Satomura, Kandori comes in the ring and hits a powerbomb onto KAORU.  Uematsu goes up to the top turnbuckle and hits a diving body press.  Cover, but the pin is broken up.  Uematsu waits for KAORU to get up and kicks her in the stomach, and Satomura delivers an overhead kick.  Tiger suplex hold by Uematsu, but it is broken up.  Uematsu picks up KAORU and goes for a dragon suplex, KAORU blocks it, so Uematsu hits a German suplex instead.  Cover, but KAORU kicks out.  Kandori comes in the ring but she lariats Uematsu on accident.  Inoue comes in the ring and hits a spinning backfist onto Kandori and Uematsu.  Hamada grabs Uematsu and hits the AP Cross.  KAORU nails the Excalibur on Uematsu next, cover, but the cover is broken up.  KAORU picks up Uematsu and hits a second Excalibur, cover, but Uematsu kicks out at two.  Big boot by KAORU to Uematsu, and Inoue scoop slams Uematsu in front of the corner.  KAORU goes up to the top turnbuckle and delivers the moonsault press.  Cover, and she picks up the three count.  Your winners:  KAORU, Takako Inoue, and Ayako Hamada

Match Thoughts:  This was KAORU’s first event in three years (second match, since she was also in the opener), which is why they were letting her pick up the win and KAORU was tentative (either legitimately or just for suspense) when she hit the final moonsault.  It didn’t look like she had lost a step, sure she is older but she is still crisp in the ring.  About 60% of the match was shown so at least enough that I think I got a good feel for it even though a few wrestlers (such as Kandori) did almost nothing with what was shown.   Some of the wrestlers really impressed, I thought that Satomura looked good as did Uematsu.  Being older wrestlers maybe the match being clipped helped cut out the slow parts, but what they showed was perfectly fine action.  Score:  6.0

Final Thoughts:

Best Match: Chigusa Nagayo, Kagetsu, and Takumi Iroha vs. Dump Matsumoto, KAORU, and Yoshiko.  I guess?  It was the only match shown in full which as anyone that reads my reviews know, I prefer to watch matches in full.  I am usually suspicious of clipped matches.  And it wasn’t a bad match, the older gals are fun sometimes and they brawled around so that it didn’t get too dull in the ring.  Plus it is always good to see Dump again.

MVP: KAORU. Not only was this her big return but she wrestled in two matches on the card which is impressive. She looked good in both matches, especially in the main event. KAORU is not a full blown Joshi Legend but is still very well respected and it is good to see her back in action again. A good display by her on the event.

Overall:  What a shocker, there was only one full unclipped match on the Chigusa Nagayo Produce show, and it is the match with Chigusa Nagayo!  Needless to say I would have greatly preferred the semi-main event to be shown in full as that match had the best wrestlers in it (in my opinion), but I never get what I want.  Unfortunately, too many matches were clipped for me to recommend this but the action was surprisingly solid from start to finish even with the advanced age of some of the wrestlers.

Jim Ross Talks WWE Payback Booking; 6-Man Tag, Cena/Wyatt, More

0

Source: JR’s BBQ

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross is back with a new blog on jrsbarbq.com. As always, you can purchase JR’s BBQ products on WWEshop.com. Here are some highlights from this entry:

– I picked Cesaro to unseat Sheamus for the United States Title and I was wrong. I think both men are currently miscast. The paying customers want Cesaro to be a fan favorite while Sheamus is a natural heel in my eyes. Nonetheless the bout was physical and I liked it as it served as a good kickoff to the main show. Cesaro continuing to use the Giant Swing is going to continue to facilitate him as a ‘face. Good sound bytes by @HeymanHustle at ringside. Young managers should pay attention to Paul and learn all that they can. There aren’t many “Heyman’s” around any more….which is a great segue for your own bit of humor.

– Cena vs. Wyatts in Last Man Standing was excellent booking especially getting the Usos and Harper/Rowan strategically involved notwithstanding a creative finish. Creating compelling finishes in a brutal match such as Last Man Standing in a PG world is challenging but the ending worked Monday night. Arguably the match of the night. Congrats to all involved.

– The 6 man elimination tag match was stellar and put in ample time, was intense and had a surprising finish with the Shield pitching the shutout. WWE has done a good job of developing three potentially, outstanding fan favorites in Ambrose, Rollins and Reigns even thought I see Ambrose as the best potential heel of the trio, Rollins as the most underrated talent of the group and likely a great ‘face, and Reigns as the next ‘it’ guy in the company.

Injury Updates on Roman Reigns And MVP

0

– We noted before that Roman Reigns mentioned on the Payback post-show that he may have suffered a torn triceps. One fan who was waiting outside of the Allstate Arena for photos last night noted that Reigns was clearly in pain when he came walking out of the building. Going back and watching the video of the match, it’s also clear that Reigns is more than just “selling” when favoring his arm in the later stages of the match.

– Source: PWInsider: MVP is still in Europe after suffering a knee injury on Friday night at a Preston City Wrestling event. MVP appeared for Dutch Pro Wrestling on Sunday but did not wrestle and instead appeared as their General Manager. A fan in attendance noted that MVP was on crutches and looked like he couldn’t put any weight on his knee.

WWE Fallout from Payback News: Reigns Injured? Stephanie Accident? More

0

– Sean Waltman tweeted the following about Triple H and how WWE Payback went off the air:

“Going of the air they had all three Shield guys standing over the fallen Evolution. They laid there for Shield & they didn’t show it. Why? All 3 guys put The Shield over for a reason & it would have been really nice to see the whole shot of them standing over Evolution. I promise you HHH would have wanted that shot to go home on. Not a tight shot of their face. He can’t direct while he’s laying on his back.”

– Source: F4WOnline – Roman Reigns mentioned on the WWE Payback Fallout post-show last night that he thought he tore his triceps. No word yet if that’s a legitimate injury or he was just hyping up how brutal the match was.

– F4WOnline noted that going into last night’s show, WWE expected Paige and Sheamus to get booed heavily from the Chicago crowd.

– Reddit user Dolphins1925 predicted the UK betting site favorites to win at WWE Payback last night, but incorrectly predicted that Bo Dallas would defeat Kofi Kingston. That match obviously wasn’t listed in the betting odds as it was a late addition. Dolphins1925 also didn’t predict Cody Rhodes and Goldust vs. Ryback and Curtis Axel, which was also added late.

– Batista commented on all of the fan backlash for his blue gear at WWE Payback last night and “BlueTista” trending on Twitter. He tweeted:
“6 guys go 2 war and beat the s–t out of each other and what do the genius smarks walk away with? “Batista wore blue! What a loser!” #dips–ts”

– There was a lot of speculation on social media that Stephanie McMahon had a little accident at last night’s WWE Payback pay-per-view. After getting slapped hard by Brie Bella at the show, Stephanie seemed to be sporting a stain on the back of her dress. However, it appears that it was just how the lighting was hitting her dress. You can check out a photo here. She was also still sporting the dress backstage after the angle, which you can check out here http://instagram.com/p/ouVIRkAFFi/

– WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley wrote the following on Facebook regarding last night’s match at WWE Payback between John Cena and Bray Wyatt:

THE REAL WINNER
Just finished watching #Payback and I thought it was a heck of a show – great atmosphere, a slap heard round the world, and matches that more than lived up to expectations. I received well over 1,000 comments about the show, and I know many of you are disappointed that Bray Wyatt did not emerge victorious in his match with John Cena.

Or did he?

Winning is all relative in sports-entertainment, and in this wrestling fan’s eyes, Bray did indeed emerge victorious. He may not have made it to his feet by the 10 count last night, but in his promos and in his matches, Brey Wyatt has shown me that he is more than capable of standing on his own two feet at the very forefront of the new generation of WWE Superstars.

Unfortunately, there is no mathamatical formula for making a star in pro-wrestling. But if I had to boil down all the ingredients of the star-making process into one word, that one word would be “feuds”. Fans remember feuds, and Wyatt’s character and promos put him in a great position to create memorable feuds with just about any of the top stars in the company. Besides, there just might be some gas left in the Wyatt/Cena tank.

Silva vs. Diaz In The Works?, Silva – Sonnen Documentary, Cormier Has Idea

0

Partial Credit: Raj Giri

– It was billed as one of the biggest rematches in MMA history, as Anderson Silva defended his UFC middleweight title against Chael Sonnen. While Silva would go on to successfully defeat Sonnen for the second time, the build up was something like the sport had never seen before. Sonnen continually attacked Silva in the media and during interviews, while “The Spider” finally went on the offensive the closer the fight got. Now, as part of a Jay-Z web series, you can get another inside look at the rivalry in STATIC: Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen.

Silva was one of the producers for the seven-minute video which features interviews with both fighters and many others. Roy Jones, Jr., who has been trying to secure a boxing fight with Silva, does the commentary.

– Ed Soares, the long-time manager for Anderson Silva, confirmed plans for him to return to the Octagon. Soares even hinted at who “The Spider” could be matched up against during an interview on The MMA Hour Monday.

“He’s definitely coming back. He’s feeling good, he’s training hard. Everything is good,” Soares said. “We won’t see him back any earlier than the end of the year or, most likely, the beginning of the year. There’s always a chance (for the end of 2014), but as of right now, I think his mind of set on fighting at the beginning of the year.”

As for a possible opponent, Soares said, “There’s Michael Bisping. There’s Cung Le. Even Nick Diaz. Nick Diaz has said he’s wanted to fight him before. Nick Diaz wants to box Roy Jones, Jr. You could argue that Nick Diaz and Anderson probably have some of the best boxing in MMA, so we’ll see what happens.”

Silva broke his leg in December after a kick was checked by Chris Weidman. Weidman was declared the winner, earning his second straight victory over Silva and successfully defending the middleweight title.

– While contract talks between the UFC and Jon Jones remain unresolved, Daniel Cormier is taking the opportunity to make himself available. Cormier, in an interview with the Sports World News, stated he would be available to fight at any time if matched up with Alexander Gustafsson for the interim title.

“I know this will probably be unpopular,” Cormier said. “But if (Jones) won’t sign, whether it be for money or a lack of wanting to fight the kid, I’ll fight Alexander Gustafsson. But it should be for the interim title.”

Cormier (15-0) is coming off a submission victory over Dan Henderson and has been all-but-declared the next contender after Jones-Gustafsson. Last year, Gustafsson lost a decision to “Bones” for the title, and has agreed to face him again, with the bout taking place in August.

WWE Payback 2014 Kickoff Show

The WWE Payback 2014 Kickoff Show kicks off with Josh Mathews, Booker T, Kofi Kingston and Alex Riley at the expert panel. The foursome talk about some of tonight’s matches, including the lone Kickoff Show match, which features Hornswoggle vs. El Torito in a hair vs. mask match.

Mask vs. Hair
– El Torito vs. Hornswoggle

After some more discussion at the expert panel, we are brought to ringside, where Michael Cole, JBL and Jerry Lawler introduce us to the first match of the evening. El Torito, dressed as the Chicago Bulls mascot, makes his way to the ring with Los Matadores. Out next is Hornswoggle, who is accompanied by 3MB. There is a barber stool/setup at ringside in case Horny loses.

The bell rings and here we go. As soon as the action begins, the Chicago fans break out in a “we want tables” chant. Horny takes the early offensive lead in the match. The guys do a bunch of comedy spots early, with Los Matadores and 3MB cheering on their respective man at ringside.

There’s a spot where Torito goes for the pin on Horny and Horny kicks out so hard that Torito flies into referee Charles Robinson’s hands. Robinson then throws Torito back on top of Horny. This happens a few times until Torito gives up on the pin attempt.

Back up, Horny argues with the ref until he turns around right into a gore from Torito. An “Ole! Ole!” chant breaks out as the guys all brawl on the floor outside the ring. Torito crawls under the ring. Torito ends up coming out of the other end of the ring with a big pair of scissors, Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake style.

Horny and Torito battle on the floor some more as their team members watch on. Back in the ring, both guys are down. 3MB and the Matadores get involved, with Torito hitting a big splash on one of the 3MB members on the floor. This all leads to all three 3MB members being on the floor as Torito does a big top-rope dive onto all of them.

After another big splash spot on the floor onto all of the big guys happens, a loud “this is awesome” chant breaks out. Torito hits the Bronco-Buster on Horny in the corner. Horny recovers, gets control of Torito and yanks his mask off. Torito has another mask on underneath it, however, and a pre-celebratory Horny suffers the consequences, as he turns around into a rollup from Torito. 1-2-3. Torito wins.

Winner: El Torito

After The Match: Horny Gets His Head Shaved

After the match, Horny is put into the barber chair outside the ring. Torito, with help from Los Matadores, cuts Horny’s hair. They get the trimmers out now and they are shaving Horny’s head bald. Horny, of course, is screaming and selling the entire time. The announcers, of course, are selling this like it’s the greatest thing ever. Finally, they break out the shaving cream and disposable razors and begin shaving him completely and totally bald.

Backstage: A New Match Is Revealed

We are told at the expert panel that The Rhodes Brothers vs. RybAxel is set for tonight’s show. We see a WWE.com exclusive video of what led to this match. Backstage, we see Goldust and Cody Rhodes talking.

Another New Match Set For Tonight

Back at the panel, yet another new match is revealed, as Booker T informs Kofi Kingston that he just received breaking news, which is that Kingston is scheduled to compete against Bo Dallas later tonight.

WWE Payback 2014 Pay-Per-View

A video package, which is actually even cooler than most PPV intro video packages, airs, highlighting everything that happened to lead into tonight’s WWE Payback pay-per-view, with the primary focus being on The Shield vs. Evolution No Holds Barred Elimination and Bray Wyatt vs. John Cena Last Man Standing matches.

WWE United States Championship
– Sheamus (c) vs. Cesaro

As soon as the video package concludes, Sheamus’ theme music hits and the WWE U.S. Champion makes his way to the ring. During his ring entrance, we head to ringside where Michael Cole, JBL and Jerry Lawler officially welcome us to the 2014 edition of WWE Payback. Highlights are shown to explain what led to tonight’s Sheamus vs. Cesaro match.

Out next, while Sheamus’ music is still playing, is Paul Heyman. He informs us that his name is Paul Heyman and that he is the advocate for Cesaro. The fans break out into a loud CM Punk chant. Heyman says he’s not here. He says Punk is at the United Center watching the Chicago Blackhawks play. The fans explode with cheers. He says he’s watching them get their streak broken, just like his client, Brock Lesnar, ended The Undertaker’s streak at WrestleMania. He introduces “The King of Swing,” Cesaro. Cesaro’s theme music plays and the two make their way to the ring.

The bell rings and here we go with our first match of the evening. Sheamus gets the early offensive advantage over the challenger. Cesaro hits some big European uppercuts to turn the tide. Sheamus ends up being too much for “The King of Swing,” as the U.S. Champion is now taking over.

Sheamus hits his 10-forearms to the chest spot on the apron to Cesaro, but that wasn’t enough. He grabs Cesaro and blasts him with another 10 big clubbing blows to the chest. The action spills out to the floor, where Sheamus continues his dominance outside the ring.

After a bunch of near falls and high spots, including Cesaro swinging Sheamus 20 times, as soon as the swing was over, Cesaro walks right into a roll-up pin attempt by the U.S. attempt. 1-2-3, Sheamus retains.

Winner and STILL WWE United States Champion: Sheamus

Goldust & Cody Rhodes vs. Ryback & Curtis Axel

We see highlights of Goldust and Cody Rhodes talking backstage from the Payback Kickoff Show, where it was revealed that The Brotherhood would be competing tonight against RybAxel. Goldust and Rhodes make their way to the ring. Out next is the team of Ryback and Curtis Axel.

The bell rings and our second PPV match of the evening is now officially underway. Goldust and Axel start things off for their respective teams. Goldust takes the early offensive lead and then tags in his little brother. Rhodes comes in and picks up where Goldust left off, taking it to Axel in the center of the ring.

Axel fights back and tags in Ryback. Ryback takes control of Rhodes until Rhodes hits a dropkick that allows him to tag Goldust back into the match. The fans break out in “Goldberg” chants directed towards Ryback. Ryback is taking it to Goldust now and then tags Axel back in.

The heels continue to dominate as a random “let’s go Blackhawks” chant breaks out. The match continues with the heels dominating, with Goldust being stuck in the ring for a while as Ryback and Axel tag in and out, keeping fresh guys on the battered and beaten golden-one.

Rhodes finally makes the hot tag and is hitting any-and-everything that moves. The heels try and double-team Rhodes, but Goldust comes in to even the score. Rhodes hits Cross-Rhodes on Ryback for a close near fall that is broken up at the last second by Axel.

Rhodes clears Axel out of the ring and calls for the Disaster Kick. Rhodes leaps onto the ropes to go for the move, but jumps right into a Shellshock from Ryback. Ryback covers the younger Rhodes brother and pins him. 1-2-3. RybAxel wins.

Winners: Ryback & Curtis Axel

After The Match: The End Of The Brotherhood?

After the loss, Goldust goes over to console his little brother. Rhodes, disappointed, asks for a microphone. He is handed a mic and he says, “Brother, brother. You deserve a better tag-team partner than me.” He drops the mic and walks off as Goldust looks on confused.

Rusev (with Lana) vs. Big E.

Justin Roberts introduces “The Ravishing Russian” Lana. She makes her way out to the top of the stage. She cuts a typical Lana-type promo and then introduces Rusev. “The Bulgarian Brute” comes out and the two make their way to the ring. Out next, waving an American flag, is Big E.

The bell rings and our third official pay-per-view match of the evening is officially underway. Big E. tries taking it to the big man as soon as the bell rings, but Rusev walks through his punches and takes it to the Tampa native. Rusev dominates Big E. as the Chicago fans break out into a “U.S.A.” chant.

A very random “we want Ziggler” chant breaks out as Rusev goes for a big splash onto Big E. in the corner. Big E. ends up catching Rusev coming in and slams the big Bulgarian down to the mat. Rusev ends up sliding out to the floor in a daze. He only makes it to the apron, as Big E. dives into Rusev, spearing him through the ropes and onto the floor. Awesome spot and the crowd is alive now.

Back in the ring, Big E. goes for a pin, but Rusev kicks out. Rusev floors Big E. with an enormous kick to the face. Rusev fires up and looks at Lana. Lana tells him to “crush.” Rusev obliges, and locks Big E. into “The Accolade.” Big E. taps out.

Winner: Rusev

Backstage: Daniel Bryan & Brie Bella

Backstage, we see — but don’t hear — Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella talking to each other. We hear the fans erupt inside the arena with “Yes!” chants.

Kofi Kingston vs. Bo Dallas

After the quick backstage segment, Kofi Kingston’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring. Out next is Bo Dallas. This match was announced earlier tonight during the WWE Payback Kickoff Show.

“I am Bo Dallas,” begins the leader of the “Bo-Lieve” movement. Dallas tells the Chicago fans that their beloved Blackhawks are going to lose tonight, much like Kingston will.

The bell rings and here we go. Before the two even lock up, however, Kane’s fire pyro explodes, his music plays, and “The Devil’s Favorite Demon” makes his way to the ring. The bell rings again and Kane takes it to Kingston.

The action spills out to the floor where Kane continues his attack on Kingston. Back in the ring, Kane hits a big chokeslam on Kingston. We see Dallas on the floor avoiding any interaction with “The Big Red Machine.” Kane picks Kingston up and hits him with a Tombstone Piledriver.

Kane does his pose, the fire explodes on the ring posts and his music plays again. Kane leaves the ring as referees attend to Kingston. His music stops, Dallas re-enters the ring. He gets on the mic and tells Kingston not to worry. He says he’ll be back on his feet in no time and better than ever. All he has to do is “Bo-Lieve.” The fans chant “we Bo-Lieve.”

Winner: No Contest

WWE Intercontinental Championship
– Bad News Barrett (c) vs. Rob Van Dam

Rob Van Dam’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring. Out next is the current I-C champ, Bad News Barrett. While making his way to the ring, he delivers tonight’s “Bad News,” which is that RVD won’t be winning the I-C title tonight, and that Barrett will be sending Van Dam on a permanent summer vacation.

The bell rings and our second championship match of the evening is now officially underway. The “RVD” fans immediately break out in Chi-Town as Van Dam takes it to the leader of “Bad News.” Now a dueling “RVD” and “Bad News Barrett” chant breaks out.

RVD and BNB end up on the floor, where Van Dam hits his big kick off the apron onto Barrett on the barricade. The fans break out into a big “ECW” chant after that. Back in the ring, Barrett starts taking over the offensive flow of the match.

Barrett goes for the Bad News Bull Hammer, but Van Dam counters with a scissor-sweep pin attempt for a near fall. Out on the floor, Barrett goes for the Bull Hammer again, but Van Dam moves and BNB blasts his elbow into the ring post.

Back in the ring, Van Dam plants Barrett with a big DDT for a close near fall. Van Dam goes for the split-legged moonsault, but Barrett gets the knees up. As soon as Van Dam stands up, he walks right into a Bad News Bull Hammer from Barrett. 1-2-3. Barrett wins and retains.

Winner and STILL WWE Intercontinental Champion: Bad News Barrett

In-Ring Segment: Stephanie McMahon, Daniel Bryan & Brie Bella

After the I-C title match, Stephanie McMahon’s music hits and she makes her way to the ring. She orders Daniel Bryan to come out to the ring and give her his decision. Out comes the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, accompanied by his smokin’ hot wife, Brie Bella. The Chicago fans explode with “Yes!” chants.

As Bryan continues to talk, he is interupted by a very loud “CM Punk” chant. Before Bryan can continue, Steph chimes in and says, “See, these people want you to quit just like CM Punk did.” She orders him to do the right thing or she’s going to fire his wife.

Bryan talks trash to Steph, building up to a spot where Brie calls her a “bitch.” The fans chant “Yes!” over and over again.

Stephanie orders Bryan to hand the titles over. Bryan gets ready to do so, but Brie stands in front of him. Stephanie orders Brie to move. Brie says no. Stephanie goes to tell Brie she’s fired, but Brie instead gets in her face and tells Stephanie she quits. Then she bitch-slaps Stephanie in the face. Stephanie runs out of the ring and runs to the back as Bryan and Brie lead thousands of Chicago fans in a big “Yes!” chant. Stephanie, by the way, pissed herself after getting slapped — no lie. Her dress was soaked in the back as she ran to the backstage area.

Last Man Standing
– Bray Wyatt vs. John Cena

A video package airs highlighting the history of the Bray Wyatt and John Cena feud, and all that went down leading into tonight’s Last Man Standing match between these two. After the video package concludes, Justin Roberts quickly runs down the rules of a Last Man Standing match. Next, Bray Wyatt and The Wyatt Family make their way to the ring. Out next, to a loud negative reaction, is John Cena.

Before the bell even rings, the WWE Tag-Team Champions, The Usos, make their way to the ring to even the odds and help Cena. The bell rings and now here we go with our Last Man Standing matchup.

Bray takes the early offensive lead in the match, as he’s taking it to Cena in what has been a one-sided beatdown thus far. Wyatt has blasted Cena a few times now, leaving him laying while the refereee does the attempted ten count, reaching as high as eight so far.

The dueling “let’s go Cena” and “Cena sucks” chants start up now as Wyatt continues to take it to the leader of the “Ce-Nation.”

Wyatt goes for a super-plex, but Cena headbutts his way out of it and drops Wyatt. Cena follows up with a huge top-rope leg-drop onto the leader of The Wyatt Family. Cena and Wyatt are both up now and Wyatt hits Cena with Sister Abigail out of nowhere. The ref gets close to the count of ten, but Cena makes it back up.

When Cena gets up, he grabs Wyatt and immediately blasts him with an Attitude Adjustment. The ref counts as both guys are down. Cena gets up and now the count is only on Wyatt. Wyatt does his back-bridge to stand up out of nowhere, and now all six guys (Rowan, Harper and The Usos included) are going at it inside and outside of the ring.

Cena gets distracted by some of the action on the floor, and winds up turning around right into multiple chair shots from Bray. Bray beats Cena with a chair so hard it knocks him out of the ring. The ref counts to Cena, but Cena makes it up by six. Cena now grabs the chair and now he is beating Wyatt with it. The ref does some counting towards Wyatt as well, but Wyatt also makes it back to his feet before the count of ten.

The leader of the “Ce-Nation” goes under the ring and grabs a table. He sets it up in the middle of the ring, but Wyatt is back up and he knocks Cena down. Wyatt ends up suplexing Cena through the table. The referee immediately begins his count. Cena ends up making it before the count.

Wyatt gets the ring steps and brings them into the ring. He stands atop them and leads the fans in a sing-along of “he’s got the whole world.” Cena gets hold of a chair and blasts Wyatt with it. He grabs the ring steps and blasts Wyatt with those as well.

A lot of Harper-Rowan and Uso involvement happens now, resulting in Harper hitting a superplex on Uso off the top-rope and through a table on the floor. This is followed by a huge “holy shit” chant from the fans in the All State Arena. Meanwhile, Cena and Wyatt brawl until Cena puts Wyatt through the timekeepers table at ringside. Another “holy shit” chant breaks out in Chicago. Now we have a loud “this is awesome” chant as everyone is down and out.

Cena and Wyatt battle up near the top of the ramp. Wyatt throws Cena into a bunch of production equiptment. Upon landing, a bunch of pyro and stuff goes off. Cena survives, however, and soon-after hoists Wyatt up for an Attitude Adjustment onto some equiptment. Cena throws a big box on top of Wyatt so he can’t move and then instructs the referee to count. The ref does. He reaches the count of ten. “Super-Cena” wins again.

Winner: John Cena

WWE Divas Championship
– Paige (c) vs. Alicia Fox

The “Meltdown Queen” Alicia Fox makes her way out to the ring. Out next is our WWE Divas Champion, Paige. It’s time for another championship match here at WWE Payback.

The bell rings and here we go. Fox takes control of the offense as soon as the match gets officially underway. Fox is controlling the Divas Champion with ease so far in this one. Fox remains in control, as Paige has yet to get in any offense at this point.

Paige finally gets in some offense, as Fox is now on the defensive. Paige applies her submission finisher and Fox is forced to tap out. Paige wins and retains the WWE Divas Championship.

Winner and STILL WWE Divas Champion: Paige

After The Match: Fox Freaks

After losing her shot at the WWE Divas Championship by submission, the Chicago fans jump all over Alicia Fox, chanting “you tapped out” at her. Fox ends up freaking out, but not as bad as usual. She screams from the apron and then runs and storms off to the backstage area.

No Holds Barred Elimination Match
– Evolution vs. The Shield

An extensive video package airs highlighting the history of the feud between Evolution and The Shield. Evolution’s theme music hits and Triple H, Randy Orton and Batista make their way to the ring. The Shield’s music hits and Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins make their way to the ring through the crowd.

The bell rings to make our No Holds Barred Elimination main event official, as all six-guys collide in the center of the ring. Different pairs of people split off on different spots of the arena. The battle is underway, folks!

When the smoke clears, and all of the outside-of-the-ring brawling concludes, we arrive in the ring, where Triple H and Roman Reigns end up as the legal men in this match. The heat from the crowd grows as the two stare each other down from opposite sides of the ring.

The two collide, and as you’d expect, Reigns is throwing “The Game” all over the ring. He gets full control over HHH and then tags in Ambrose. Ambrose picks up where Reigns left off, dominating Hunter in the middle of the ring.

A bunch of tags happen, with each guy on each team having their moments in the ring, but ultimately things spread out with different pairs of guys fighting each other all over the arena once again.

Evolution gets the better of The Shield members, as all three members of Evolution end up leaving Ambrose and Rollins laying as their turn their focus to Reigns, who is by himself. They end up hitting him with a huge triple-powerbomb through the announce table at ringside.

HHH, Batista and Orton use chairs to leave Ambrose and Rollins laying at the top of the ramp. All three guys head back to the ring, where they manhandle Reigns with ease due to the three-on-one advantage. They rip Reigns’ vest off and set up some ring steps in the ring, as well as grab a kendo stick.

They drape Reigns across the steps and Orton and Batista, each with a kendo stick, beat the hell out of Reigns’ back. Now HHH has one too, so three kendo sticks are in play, as all three members of Evolution beat away at a lone Roman Reigns. Meanwhile, we’re at a quarter-til-11pm and no one has been eliminated thus far in this No Holds Barred Elimination match.

Out of nowhere, Reigns hits a big Superman punch on Orton, but Batista and HHH quickly jump on him and beat him back down with their kendo sticks.

Back up at the top of the ramp, Orton hits his draping-DDT spot on Ambrose off part of the Payback stage setup. All three guys are there now, with steel chairs and kendo sticks, beating away at Ambrose. All of a sudden, the camera pans up, and Rollins is way above the ramp, hanging off part of the high-portion of the Payback setup. He leaps off and splashes onto all three members of Evolution in an awesome high-spot. Everyone is down and out now.

Rollins goes back to the ring, as does Batista. Rollins goes to the top rope but when he comes off, Batista catches him with a big spear. Batista goes for a Batiata-bomb, but Reigns spears him out of nowhere. Rollins covers him and 1-2-3. Batista is eliminated. The fans, knowing that this was likely Batista’s PPV swan-snog for now, sings “na-na-na-na, hey-hey-hey, goodbye” at him.

Shortly after, Ambrose hits his finisher on Orton. He pins him and also scores the 1-2-3. Orton is eliminated. HHH is now left by himself to try and fight off all three members of The Shield by himself.

As soon as Orton is eliminated, HHH low-blows Rollins. Reigns hits him with a Superman punch, but is quickly speared afterwards by Batista. Orton, before he leaves, does his part as well, as he slides a sledgehammer into Hunter.

Ambrose charges at HHH, but “The Game” catches him coming in with a sledgehammer-shot. Rollins ends up catching HHH off the top with a big knee, which stuns HHH long enough for him to turn around right into a spear from Reigns. 1-2-3. HHH is eliminated. The Shield wins. The show goes off the air with The Shield standing tall, doing their joint-fist-bump thingy.

Winners: The Shield (Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins all survive.)

“Superstar” Billy Graham Blasts Current WWE Product

0

WWE Legend “Superstar” Billy Graham posted the following Facebook post, saying that he’s finished watching WWE programming follow this past Friday’s episode of SmackDown:

“Hello Facebook friends,

This message will be my last as I have decided after watching the entire Smackdown show that aired Friday night May 30th, that I am wasting my time viewing the WWE shows. There are of course many very good matches and hard-working top guys out there performing for you fans. To quote 2 lines from Bob Dylan’s ” Wedding Song ” tune, sum’s up my position perfectly, ” It’s never been my duty to remake the world at large…. Nor is it my intention to lead a battle charge. ”

It is not my job and I have no business to critique or pass along any negative judgment on the WWE. Believe me there are plenty of critics around to opine on the state of the WWE.

Last night when I saw Bo Dallas running around the ring acting like an idiot and hugging his opponent Xavier Woods when the match was over I wanted to vomit. Then here come the effeminate Pete Rose sucking on a lollipop, followed by maybe 15 of his circus troupe of freaks and geek’s, he gives me the creeps. Then came the dwarf El Torito dressed in a children’s bull costume who proceeds to pin a normal size wrestler. By then I did indeed vomit.

I get intelligent responses from my Facebook friends and then I get ignorant ones like this one from from Dan Pedreyra who wrote about Cesaro and I quote ” Give Cesaro time to develop, he’s learning, he’s hanging out with Cena.” Who the F is Cena ? God ? I will tell you who got it right in her response and that is Jaynie Mullins Mullins, who said and I quote, ” The WWE is now the WWZZZZZZZZZZ. ”

Peace,

Superstar Billy Graham”
