UFC Heavyweight States He’s Been Cut, Dana White Responds, UFC Fighter Retires

0

– UFC heavyweight Mark Hunt remains scheduled for a September meeting with Roy Nelson in Japan, but someone might want to make sure “The Super Samoan” is aware of that. Recently, Hunt posted on Twitter that he was “unemployed” and that it “sucks.”

“Not my choice guys but going from being (excited) at the prospects of the future of fighting to being unemployed in a day lol this sucks,” he wrote.

UFC president Dana White responded to fans asking what was going on, writing that “Hell NO” Hunt had not been cut and that it was “false” that he was unemployed. Nelson even chimed in, posting that he is “Still fighting Sept 20 because if not I will be pi$$ed that I got dressed up for nothing.”

Hunt last fought in December, going the full 25 minutes with Antonio Silva. The fight was declared a draw, and remained that way even after Silva failed the post-fight drug test.

– Mark Bocek, who has shared the cage with former champions Benson Henderson and Frankie Edgar, has announced his retirement from MMA. The 32-year-old posted a 12-5 career record that includes eight wins inside the Octagon.

Bocek fought in April of this year, defeating Mike De La Torre. He earned a pair of “Submission of the Night” honors, and strung together three consecutive rear-naked choke wins earlier in his career.

CM Punk Believes He Will Be A Failure If He Returns?, Heyman Says WWE Doesn’t Want Punk Back

0

Source: F4WOnline

Paul Heyman appeared on The MMA Hour yesterday and said CM Punk’s goal in life is to never lace up his wresting boots again, whether it be for WWE, Ring of Honor, Japan or anywhere else.

Heyman said Punk believes if he comes back, he will be a failure. Heyman also thinks that Punk feels his success in life is predicated on never going back.

Heyman also noted that he believes WWE doesn’t want Punk back ever again. Of course there’s always the chance that something happens down the road and Heyman pointed this out.

Within WWE, there’s a feeling that even if Punk wanted to come back, WWE wouldn’t let him and right now, they do not want him back. It’s said that there still could be legal issues coming out of Punk’s departure from the company.

TNA Still Facing Major Problem If They Get A TV Deal

0

– One major issue that should be pointed out with TNA having The United Talent Agency representing them in TV negotiations is that UTA takes 15% of whatever deals are made. Even if UTA are able to get Spike TV to re-sign TNA with something like 30% down from Spike, TNA would be forced to work with a much smaller amount due to paying UTA their cut.

Vince Russo Issues Official Statement On His Situation With TNA And Spike TV

0

Vince Russo posted the following on his official website:

OFFICIAL STATEMENT REGARDING MY SITUATION WITH TNA/SPIKE TV

As always, there has been much rumor, hearsay and scuttlebutt surrounding certain topics concerning myself, TNA and Spike TV. At this point in time, having parted ways with TNA and the ability to finally speak freely–there are a few things that I would like to set the record straight on.

1. As I stated earlier this week on the VIP Section of pyroandballyhoo.com, I was officially hired by John Gaburick as a creative consultant on October 24, 2013, with the plan being that it could lead to a permanent position in the future. At the time of my hiring, the specific instructions laid down to me by Dixie Carter, was that if anyone was to find out about our working relationship outside of me, herself and Gaburick—it would come to an end. I asked why the blanket of secrecy from the start—but never received an answer. Almost 9 months later, when an e-mail that I had accidentally sent out to a third-party was brought to the forefront, Gaburick was untruthful in telling the source involved that I was recently hired to produce the TNA announcers.

2. John Gaburick told me sometime in January/February that at a recent TV taping, he DID INDEED tell Spike representative Scott Fishman, that I was working with TNA as a consultant. He even went as far as to tell me that Scott “was cool” with it. Therefore, the story that Spike just found out about my involvement with TNA merely weeks ago, which caused them to not renew their TNA contract, is an ABSOLUTE MISTRUTH. Spike knew of my TNA presence some 6-plus months prior.

3. YES, I am 100% GUILTY of trying to work that said source who received the e-mail, in an effort to protect the wishes of my employer. I regret even agreeing to be dishonest, deceitful and untruthful from the beginning, but the TRUTH is that I needed the income, so I agreed to the verbal restraints that were dictated to me from the start. I regret that now. Hindsight being 20/20, I should have never accepted the job under those circumstances being that my ability to be honest and truthful with family and friends was taken from me.

I hope that clears up many of the rumors that have surrounded me as of late. I take full responsibility for LYING to protect the wishes of my former company, but that is the extent of my responsibility. If I could do it all over again, I would have turned down the job under those guidelines, regardless of the financials involved.

There is much more to this story, but I choose to lay it out one step at a time due to the intricacies of the situation. I just feel it is VITAL at this time to, again, get this point across—if John Gaburick did indeed tell me the truth—that he informed Spike representative Scott Fishman of my working relationship with TNA back at the beginning of the year—then SPIKE TV HAD FULL KNOWLEDGE THAT I WAS WORKING WITH TNA OVER SIX MONTHS AGO.

In going forward, my focus becomes 100% on my website pyroandballyhoo.com, and those who choose to go along with me on my journey. In addition to that, there are a couple of projects I’m currently working on and just wanted to share with you briefly.

– I am in talks to further develop a script that my son Will and I wrote about a year ago called Belle of the Brawl – the premise of the show involves a fictional wrestling company owned and operated by a woman.

– Also, I plan on writing the third installment of my wrestling trilogy series that will go into detail concerning my 10 year run with TNA from start to finish. The title of the book is Total Non-Stop Agony, and the plans are to release it digitally through pyroandballyhoo.com.

In conclusion, after 20 years of dedicating my blood, sweat and tears to three major wrestling organizations, without ever holding anything back, and always delivering the best product I possibly could, I think it’s fair to say that that portion of my life has officially come to an end…

…or has it???

Peace,

Vince Russo

Batista On Being ‘Worst’ Babyface Ever, Reigns Pushed Too Soon, Returning As A Heel

0

Chad Dukes of CBS Radio Washington DC 106.7 The Fan and ChadDukesWrestling.com had the opportunity to talk with Batista in an impromptu phone interview Monday about the success of Guardians of the Galaxy, Roman Reigns, his feelings on being a babyface and more. Here are some highlights, you can check out the full audio interview by clicking here.

Roman Reigns & The Shield:

“I thought they were pushing him a bit too soon. The guy’s obviously, he’s a huge star, he’s gonna be a huge star. I feel like if they push him out there before he’s ready, it’s gonna put a fizzle on everything, man, I’d just hate to see that. This is just my opinion, but I think they should have kept [the Shield] together a little bit longer. Let ’em have that babyface run just a little bit longer.”

Returning as a Babyface:

“I’ll be honest with you, I just don’t want it. I love being a heel, man, you know that. That’s what I love to do, man. I think I’m the guy that people love to boo and I’m okay with that and I love being heel.

“I’m the worst babyface in the history of wrestling. [Laughs] I’m just not good at it. When you do promos sometimes you gotta say things that people wanna hear instead of telling them things they should hear. You know it’s hard for me to be that guy always saying the politically correct thing. I just don’t like it I’m not comfortable with it.”

WWE RAW Viewership For This Week, Stephanie/Brie Segment Takes Big Hit

0

Monday’s episode of WWE RAW, with Stephanie McMahon and Brie Bella in the main event spot for the second week in a row, drew 4.048 million viewers, down 6% from last week’s 4.318 million viewers.

For this week’s show, the first hour drew 4.075 million viewers while the second hour drew 4.193 million viewers. The final hour drew 3.877 million viewers, an 8% drop from the second hour.

Again, Brie Bella won’t be blamed, because it’s a Stephanie McMahon segment, and there’s no way she’s taking the blame.

RAW was still #1 for the night on cable.
