Stone Cold Steve Austin Possibly Requiring Surgery?

0

It seems the ship has sailed on another Stone Cold Steve Austin match. Many expected that if it were to happen, it would have at this year’s WrestleMania 32 in his home state of Texas. While he was involved in the show, a match didn’t happen. Now, Austin is facing surgery.

In Jim Ross’ latest blog, he says that the ‘Texas Rattlesnake’ has been battling a shoulder injury for quite some time, which we reported on yesterday. Apparently the situation was worsened at WrestleMania 32.

“Steve Austin will likely be getting his torn rotator cuff attended to soon. Steve did the brief but memorable appearance at Wrestlemania Texas with the injury and his first punch to Rusev finished the complete tear. Steve outlines that experience on his recent Podcast, The Steve Austin Show on Podcast One,” Ross said.

Steve Austin On WrestleMania: Holes In Roman’s Push, Sasha Being Cooled Off, Bray Wyatt

Source: The Steve Austin Show

On episode 316 of The Steve Austin Show, ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin reviewed WWE WrestleMania 32. The WWE Hall Of Famer said that the best match of the show was probably the triple threat match featuring Charlotte, Becky Lynch, and Sasha Banks. Austin shared his thoughts on the WWE World Heavyweight Championship main event match between Triple H and Roman Reigns. Also, Austin said that he sees big things for Bray Wyatt as a character babyface.

According to Austin, the triple threat match for the new WWE Women’s Championship was probably the highlight of WrestleMania 32. With that said, ‘The Texas Rattlesnake’ said that he preferred watching the match without commentary.

“I watched this match at the pay-per-view. I only watched a few matches. I was busy doing my thing. At this time, I was in my dressing room drinking Broken Skull IPA with Sheamus and John Cena stopped by. As I watched this match on the monitor, I loved it. When I watched it back twice on the internet, on the WWE Network, I didn’t like it as much because I had to listen to the announcing. And, man, I don’t mean that in a bad way because all those guys are friends of mine, but just watching the match [for] what it was and listening to the crowd, to me, I think this was one of the bright spots of the night if it was the match of the night.”

Austin went on to say that Sasha Banks is being cooled off at the moment and needs to be built back up now to be viewed as a legitimate contender for the Women’s title.

“Today, she has lost some momentum and she’s one of my favorites, so they need to light her ass back up.”

On the subject of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match between Triple H and Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 32, Austin claimed that the bout went too long.

“It was way too long. That match should have been 15 minutes. I mean, from bell to bell, 15 minutes, and, that being said, all the bells and whistles and action that needed to happen within that 15 minutes. And just, this is a deal where, okay, if it’s Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels and you’re out there, hey, give them 30 [minutes] because they can go 30 [minutes]. But here’s a case, and Triple H can go any amount of time you want him to go. But what needed to happen on this, just to make Roman, because if you’re going to let Roman go over clean in the middle of the ring, shine him up like a million bucks. Let him bounce Triple H all over kingdom come. Finally, let Triple H just get a frog’s hair of heat on him. And then boom, big finish, bam, 1-2-3. Make an impact with that match. Make an impact with the finish. And make a statement for the kid! It’s about getting this kid over and at least within the confines of the 20 x 20, being the ring, and then you’ve got all the other things to deal with, whether it’s people resent him or this, that, or they think he [has] been pushed too hard too soon.”

Moreover, Austin professed that the match exposed even more holes in Roman Reigns’ game.

“You’re trying to make Roman Reigns. I don’t think you make him in a 28-minute chess match. This match needed to be all about excitement, explosion, and testosterone out of Roman and that’s how I think they should have booked it.” Austin continued, “making Roman Reigns work this long exposed more holes in his game than we’ve already known that exist.”

As for Bray Wyatt, Austin said that ‘The Eater Of Worlds’ could be a big time babyface in the very near future.

“I love listening to this guy talk. He doesn’t scare me. I don’t consider him a menace. He’s a guy I can identify with. I think he’s in transition. You make this guy a babyface, I think the kid has money written all over him because I love the sound of his voice. I love the drawl. I love the cadence. He’s a charismatic dude and he doesn’t got to be the handshaking babyface, but I see big money in the kid as a babyface because I just like him.”

Austin added that he sees some Dusty Rhodes in Wyatt.

“In 2016, the crowd is looking for the next guy who can talk people into the building. That voice that he has, his presence, his charisma, to me just says babyface. Now, again, I think he can be that everyman type [of] babyface because he’s not the best looking guy in the world. He’s not ugly. I mean, he just has a normal body. He’s a little bit heavyset. I mean, he’s like every man. But with that voice, I see so many Dusty [Rhodes] characteristics or qualities. He’s not going to be Dusty, no one ever will, but I see big money in the kid.”

WWE Raw 4/11/16 Pre-Show notes

– Shane McMahon is back hosting this week… Hopefully he does a better job. 😛

– Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn are feuding… Now that’s breaking news!

– Miz won the IC Title last week on Raw and Maryse is back, I think. Poor Zack Ryder. I hate you Miz. I’m sorry but I can’t stand Maryse’s accent. Booker T calls Zack Ryder a “Brooklyn Brawler or Barry Horowitz”. Stanford wanted to show his education of history by blurting out “SD Jones, Johnny Rodz”.

– Tonight, Charlotte defends against Natalya.

– Enzo & Cass talk the Dudleys being SAWFT.

SHANE MCMAHON PROMO / KEVIN OWENS INTERRUPTS

Here comes the money, right out of the gate… The story goes Shane is back due to the “overwhelming” social media support. It was supposed to be because of the high ratings last week, but the ratings weren’t all that great, so they switched the story up. Shane talks new superstars, new matchups, new opportunities. Crowd seems hot…

And Shane announces a TAG TEAM TOURNAMENT starting tonight, winners get a shot at New Day.

Shane talks about Sami Zayn getting his chance at a WWE Title shot squandered last week… So this week Sami Zayn will face AJ Styles… And should Zayn win, it will be Zayn vs. Styles vs. Reigns at WWE Payback. Crowd eating it up.

Kevin Owens interrupts from the stage. Owens says it’s a good thing this is probably Shane’s last night, because if he’s giving Zayn title opportunities then Shane knocked himself stupid after his Mania bump at Mania. Owens says he was the one who was robbed last week… Owens then enters the ring and demands his IC Title rematch TONIGHT.

Shane tells KO to EARN a IC title shot tonight by facing CESARO in a #1 contenders match! NEXT!

Poor Zack…

— COMMERCIAL BREAK —

MATCH #1: KEVIN OWENS VS. CESARO

Winner gets an IC Title shot. This should be fun. Cesaro has some fun in control early which pisses Owens off who bails outside. Owens returns to the ring and goes after the recently injured shoulder of Cesaro, landing a single arm DDT and taking over. Owens misses his own uppercut, but Cesaro takes over with the Uppercut Train, and a running dropkick for 2! Cesaro misses a charge and goes injured shoulder first into the buckles and spills outside as we head into break.

Back from break, Cesaro tries a comeback, but Owens applies a Crippler Crossface. Cesaro turns it over into a Sharpshooter! Owenns escapes and nails a FROG SPLASH on Cesaro……..1……….2…………Cesaro kicks out… Owens wants the Pop Up Powerbomb, but Cesaro hits a springboard uppcut!!!! Cesaro with the Cesaro SWING… Only a few rotations before his shoulder forces him to release. Owens back for the Powerbomb again, but Cesaro rolls through it with a rana and back up for the NEUTRALIZER!!!! 1……….2…………..3! Cesaro wins in just short of 15:00.

Match was eh. I mean, for TV it was fine, but nothing extraordinary about it. I was fine with it, but wouldn’t watch it again. They’ve given Cesaro an injury angle I assume to give Miz the slightest bit of credibility during the title match.

Cesaro gets to deal with the Miz…. Speaking of which, Miz & Maryse are shown watching from the back.

– Backstage, Charlotte is bitching to papa Ric about all the Women disrespecting her last week and how Natalya doesn’t even deserve the title match tonight. Flair shits on Shane and puts over Charlotte… DR. PHIL interrupts… Yes, Dr. Phil…. Phil puts over Charlotte, and her bond with her father. But he feels Ric is holding her back and corrupting her and not allowing her to be who she can be without having to cheat. Phil tells Charlotte off and she leaves… Ric keeps trying to WOOO in Phil’s face, but Phil keeps WOOOing at Ric first… LOL… Well, they used him decently.

– Kevin Owens is backstage arguing with Shane McMahon. Owens blames Shane for screwing him and threatens to take Sami Zayn out again tonight. Shane then informs Owens that he is now being escorted out of the building and is not going to screw Zayn over again.

— COMMERCIAL BREAK —

NEW DAY PROMO

Tag Team Tournament starts tonight. Tournament brackets are shown with 8 teams… Usos vs. Social Outcasts? Ewww…. Golden Truth vs. Vaudevillains, Enzo & Cass vs. The Ascension, and….

MATCH #2: THE LUCHA DRAGONS VS. THE DUDLEY BOYZ

Well, the teams involved aren’t exactly late 80’s superstar teams, but at least they’re trying… We come back from break and Kalisto is laid outside with medical attention. A replay shows Kalisto take a nasty bump over the top rope to the floor.

The Dudleys continue to beat down Sin Cara in a 2 vs. 1 match. Match is already in progress. Cara with a short comeback. Moonsauklt bodyblock on D-Von gets 2. Blind tag to Bubba, they blow a 3D spot… But go into it again and hit it for the win in 3:00.

Post match, Enzo Amore & Big Cass interrupt… Enzo and the Dudleys have a back & forth on the mic…

Bubba says the Dudleys are the reason people like Enzo & Cass exist. Enzo argues that his parents got it on, and that’s what made him exist…

Dudleys said they paved the way… Enzo & Cass are putting holes in the road, and tell the Dudleys to put their construction hats on and get back to work on the road… Dudleys are S-A-W-F-T.

— COMMERCIAL BREAK —

ROMAN REIGNS / LEAGUE OF NATIONS / WYATTS / SHANE MCMAHON SEGMENT

Roman Reigns gives the “THE GUY” speech… Again. He starts to talk about AJ Styles and Sami Zayn, but he’s cut off by the crappy ass League of Nations… And now there’s NOBODY the fans want to see in this segment. The entire League talks… Ugh.

The League corners Reigns in the ring when… THE WYATT FAMILY APPEAR… The Wyatts run the League off.

The Wyatts stare down Roman Reigns. They start towards Reigns, but Shane McMahon interrupts…

Shane books Reigns & Bray Wyatt vs. the League, tonight…

Yikes.

— COMMERCIAL BREAK —

MATCH #3: WWE WOMEN’S CHAMPION CHARLOTTE (w/RIC FLAIR) VS. NATALYA

Dr. Phil is out at ringside to watch the match. Natalya controls early, Charlotte comes back with the neckbreaker and a Flair kneedrop for 2. And we’re off to commercial.

Back from break, Dr. Phil watches on as Charlotte continues to maintain control. Charlotte locks in the Figure 4, looking for the 8. Nattie reverses, and Charlotte grabs the ropes for a break. Charlotte then applies the Sharpshooter on Nattie to add insult. Nattie breaks the hold. Charlotte chops on natalya, but Nattie comes back with a release German suplex… And a spinning discus clothesline from Nattie… Natalya goes for the Sharshooter, but Charlotte blocks and lands a Big Boot on Nattie for 2.

Charlotte with a Norther Lights throw and a MOONSAULT MISSES!!! Natalya with the SHARPSHOOTER!!! RIC FLAIR SLIDES IN THE RING… NATTIE DRAGS CHARLOTTE AWAY FROM RIC!!!! Referee gets Ric out of the ring… FLAIR YANKS THE REFEREE OUTSIDE!!!!

BUT CHARLOTTE TAPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CHARLOTTE TAPS!!!!!! BUT THE REFEREE DQ’S RIC FLAIR FIRST FOR INTERFERING…. Natties wins in around 11:00, but only by DQ….

Dr. Phil is disappointed in Charlotte but he’s proud of the Women’s division.

– We go back to last week where Owens attacks Zayn backstage and powerbombs him through a table, taking him out of the #1 contender match. Now Zayn gets his chance this week against AJ, and Shane has barred Owens from the building.

– Renee Young interviews Zayn. He’s ready for tonight. AJ Styles interrupts. Both men have fought their way to the WWE, but Styles is the #1 contender, and he plans on keeping it that way.

— COMMERCIAL BREAK —

Tag team tourney continues…

MATCH #4: THE USOS VS. SOCIAL OUTCASTS- AXEL & SLATER

A barn burner here… Rose & Dallas outside. Usos have control as the match starts, but Jey Uso sells his shoulder and the Outcasts take over. Exciting stomping and chinlocks follow. Standing dropkick, Hennig style, by Axel. Slater hits a sloppy jumping side kick for 2. The Outcasts hop on the BO TRAIN and run around ringswide for no reason… Meanwhile, Jey tags Jimmy… Jimmy runs Heath into Axel, knocking Curtis to the floor and a roll up on Slater gets the pointless win in 4:15…

IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE MATCH….. LUKE GALLOWS & KARL ANDERSON ATTACK THE USOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In street clothes, Gallows & Anderson destroy the Usos, Magic Killer in the ring, and the other Uso gets laid out on the floor… Crowd goes nuts… Announcers sell it huge… And the men leave through the crowd after the assault. Nice.

Business is pickin’ up…

— COMMERCIAL BREAK —

Backstage, Miz has cucumbers on his eyes… Maryse is complaining to the crew because there are blue M&M’s in the candy jar. Miz also doesn’t drink domestic bottled water. Jojo tries to interview Miz, Maryse takes control. Maryse calls Jojo a Miz groupie. Miz takes over. Miz trashes Zack Ryder and Cesaro. Miz calls himself the Kryptonite of the Swiss Superman Cesaro…

Cesaro interrupts and says he’s going to take Miz’s “role” as IC Champion at Payback. Miz gets pissed and takes a drink of domestic water… He doesn’t like it… Blah Miz.

— COMMERCIAL BREAK —

This is the #1 contender match for Zayn.. If Zayn wins, he’s in a triple threat with Reigns and Styles at Payback. If Styles wins, it’s AJ vs. Reigns head up. Lots of back and forth wrestling and standoffs. Zayn chops Styles stiff in the corner, Styles replies with the Phenomenal Dropkick. AJ with a snap suplex gets 2. Zayn gets bumped to the floor, AJ with a nasty running knee off the apron. Zayn turns the tables and sends AJ back to the floor and lands a somersault dive outside onto Styles as we go to break.

Back from break, AJ has the commercial chinlock applied. AJ then brings on more offense, spinning gutbuster gets 2. Styles with the AA onto his knee…. Wonder if Cena likes that. CHRIS JERICHO HIGHLIGHT REEL

Jericho’s guest tonight is the greatest of all time… It’s himself… Jericho begins interviewing himself and putting himself over.

DEAN AMBROSE INTERRUPTS….

Ambrose informs Jericho that the Highlight Reel is now his…

Ambrose gives Jericho a note from Shane McMahon. Shane alerts Jericho that the Highlight Reel has been canceled. It’s being replaced by Dean’s “Ambrose Asylum”. He places a poster board over the Jeritron screen, lol.

Ambrose introduces Jericho as his first guest. Jericho is pissed… Ambrose makes fun of Jericho’s scarf. Jericho threatens to kick Dean’s ass if he doesn’t leave the ring.
