Hulk Hogan Talks Last Meeting With Warrior, Warrior’s Widow Responds

The widow of Ultimate Warrior, Dana Warrior, is upset with remarks Hulk Hogan made to Grantland concerning her deceased husband.

In the above video interview released today, “The Hulkster” recounted his final encounter with Warrior, their contentious relationship, and how he learned of his shocking death.

Warrior issued a statement on Facebook and Twitter tonight requesting that he not comment on her ex-husband.

Her statement reads, “Statement from Dana Warrior

“I’ve been really quiet since the passing of my husband and the father of my girls. Someone sent me what Mr Bollea had to say in video interview with Grantland yesterday and I would just like to ask him to stop.

“He is the only person in the WWE Universe who did not give a call or send a card. My girls asked why he didn’t check on us like everyone else and I explained simply there isn’t a camera at our mailbox or in the house when we receive our calls.

“I would ask respectfully Mr Bollea, for you to understand my girls hurt and just let some time pass before you say anything more.

“Dana A Warrior.”

In the WWE Network documentary on Warrior, Warrior: The Ultimate Legend, Hogan and the 2014 WWE Hall of Fame headline inductee were shown making amends backstage at WrestleMania 30 following a decade long feud. In the interview, Hogan said he was given strict orders not to confront Warrior so that he would be able to enjoy the weekend. Hogan, however, had undertaken a new mentality and just wanted to apologize to Warrior and settle their issues.

Hogan recalled taking a joy ride on a golf cart with his son Nick at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and finding Warrior.

“I went right up to him, I shook his hand and said, “Brother, I know I’m not supposed to talk to you, but I just want to let you know I love you. And if you ever want to be friends I’d love to be friends with you. If we could ever do business that would be great. But I just want to tell you that I love you so much. And whatever I did … please forgive me.” And then I noticed that there was a WWE camera that peeled around the side. I had no idea that they had a camera following him,” said Hogan.

“So that was real, bro. And I’m so glad I got to talk to him.”

Following news of Warrior’s death, Hogan remarked of their encounter via Twitter: “We talked,both forgave each other,we hugged ,we shook hands as we told each other I love you,I am so sad,God bless his beautiful family HH.”

In Warrior’s final days, he didn’t appear particularly healthy or steady. He sweat profusely, not just on camera, but behind the scenes according to those who saw him during WrestleMania 30 week. He staggered a bit on his way to the ring and was short of breath during his Hall of Fame induction speech and especially when he spoke on Raw.

“On Raw, he went out there and put on the little Warrior mask; he had a hard time getting it off. I don’t know if you noticed, when he tried to get it off, he had a hard time getting it off,” said Hogan, who was backstage watching the show at the staging area just behind the entrance curtain. “He didn’t look good.”

With cameras backstage filming Warrior for WWE’s documentary, he urged that Warrior not be filmed going down the stairs upon his return backstage: “I don’t know if anyone heard me, I was afraid he was going to fall down the stairs.”

“He came back, I gave him another big hug after Raw. He took a picture of him and [Pat] Patterson,” said Hogan, “Next night [SmackDown taping] I go in the ring with Daniel Bryan doing the “Yes!” thing, the ear thing (cups ear) and posing. I come out of the ring and Vince [McMahon] is standing over there. He was staring at me.”

“What’s up with that?” Hogan thought to himself.

Hogan then signaled for McMahon to give a phone call later.

“I never do that and then I walked off. I told Jimmy Hart, “Jimmy, something’s weird. You know, Vince never just stands there and stares at me like that,” said Hogan.

“So I went back and I said, “Are you cool, are you okay? He goes, “Sit down for a minute, let me tell you something.”

“I don’t know if another rib’s coming. I don’t know what he’s going to set me up with, ’cause you never know, he’s full of it. And he goes, “Nobody knows yet, but while you were in the ring, we got the word that Jim passed away.”

Hogan responded, “What?!”

The video concludes with Hogan saying, “Thank God I got to talk to him.”

WWE Smackdown Results for 8/15/14

Thanks to Jerry Bolling for the following WWE SmackDown spoilers from tonight’s tapings in Seattle:

* SmackDown kicks off with The Miz calling Roman Reigns out for MizTV. Reigns gets a pretty big reaction. Miz keeps interrupting Reigns so Reigns decks him with a shot to the mouth. Reigns cuts a promo on beating Randy Orton at SummerSlam and gets a big pop.

* Dean Ambrose defeated Cesaro in a good back & forth match. Seth Rollins came out after the match and cut a promo on Ambrose.

* Reigns vs. The Miz is announced for later.

* Dolph Ziggler defeated Titus O’Neil.

* Mark Henry defeated Luke Harper by DQ when Erick Rowan interfered. Kane comes out and makes a tag match.

* Henry and Big Show defeated Rowan and Harper in a good tag match. They got a big pop after the win.

* Eva Marie defeated AJ Lee by count out when AJ chased after Paige who was taunting her. Paige ends up beating AJ down in the ring and skipping away.

* Jack Swagger squashed Bo Dallas. Lana and Rusev came out after the match to huge heat and USA chants. Bo complained that he didn’t really tap out.

* Roman Reigns defeated The Miz in a decent main event. The Miz tried to bail on the match but Dolph Ziggler ran down and threw him back in the ring. Reigns celebrated to end SmackDown.

Video: AJ Lee Dumps A Bucket Of Ice Water On CM Punk To Raise Awareness For ALS

In the above video, former WWE Superstar CM Punk let WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee pour a bucket of ice water on his head. Why? It is for The Ice Bucket Challenge.

What is it? The Ice Bucket Challenge is to help spread awareness in fighting ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig’s disease) a disease of the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that control voluntary muscle movement.

According to the Associated Press, the “months-old” Ice Bucket Challenge began drawing attention after Pete Frates, a former Boston College baseball player who was diagnosed with ALS two years ago, used the campaign to raise awareness about his condition. “I am nominating myself for the #icebucketchallenge cuz I can,” Frates wrote on Facebook at the end of July. Frates then challenged people to do the same.

Since then, The Ice Bucket Challenge has gone viral as various celebrities have been posting videos of themselves pouring ice water on their heads to raise awareness about ALS.

“I accept the ALS ice bucket challenge from no twitter Matt Cooke of the @mnwild and the no good @BaileyLAKings. On my way to get a bucket…,” Punk wrote on Twitter on Thursday.

Punk was criticized for lending support to the cause: “Blocking people who feel the need to s–t on raising ALS awareness. What is wrong with you? Ice bucket on the way. Who should I challenge?”

TNA Announces Impact Moving To Wednesday Nights, Notes On Why

TNA announced the following:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 14, 2014) – TNA today announced its flagship program, IMPACT WRESTLING, will make a permanent move to Wednesday nights at 9/8c on SPIKE TV beginning next Wednesday, Aug. 20.

“Moving IMPACT WRESTLING to Wednesday nights gives existing fans and new viewers an opportunity to enjoy both wrestling and live sports even more throughout the week,” said TNA President Dixie Carter.

IMPACT WRESTLING has enjoyed sustained ratings growth this summer, drawing over 1.5 million viewers each week this quarter, and is among the most watched cable series in key male demos in its timeslot.

TNA moving to Wednesday nights is a permanent move. The decision was made within the last several days and one of the reasons behind the decision was all of the competition on Thursday nights with NFL games on CBS and WWE SmackDown possibly moving to Thursday nights.

TNA is taping the August 14th Impact Wrestling episode tonight in New York City. Thanks to Michaela R. for the following spoilers:

* Bully Ray is out. He cuts a promo and thanks the fan for helping him put Dixie Carter through a table. Devon joins Bully and Team 3D gets a big pop. They’re interrupted by Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy. Matt Hardy said it was the first time they had all been in the same ring in over a decade. He congratulated them on their Hall of Fame induction. They cut promos. Bully said it sounds like the fans want one more match between the two teams and we’ve got Team 3D vs. The Hardys for later tonight. It will be a TLC match.

* Eric Young, Bobby Roode and Austin Aries vs. MVP, Kenny King and Bobby Lashley is next. Lashley’s team gets the win after MVP knocked Aries off the top rope with one of his crutches. Lashley speared Aries for the win.

* Rhino, Rockstar Spud and Ethan Carter III come to the ring for a promo. Rhino is wearing flip-flops and Ethan has his head bandaged from the Thursday night injury. Spud is sporting a black eye it looks like. Kurt Angle interrupts them to a big pop. Angle has all three of them surrounded by officers from the New York City Police Department. They resist and get taken down by the cops and arrested. Apparently these were House of Hardcore students dressed as police. Angle had them arrested because they refused to wrestle.

* Mr. Anderson vs. Gunner is next, as a result of something that happened between the two on the 8/7 episode. The crowd gets bored during this match, chanting for John Cena and Rusev. They also sing Adam Rose’s theme song. The match ended when Shaw came out and attacked Anderson. Fans thanked Shaw for ending the match.

* The Wolves defeated Robbie E and Jessie Godderz.

* Abyss comes to the ring and calls out Bram and Magnus. Bram is still in possession of Janice. They announce a Hardcore Ladder Match between Bram and Abyss for “next week” which is the next set of tapings in August. Janice will be hanging above the ladder.

* Low Ki vs. Tigre Uno vs. Crazzy Steve vs. Homicide vs. DJ Zema Ion vs. Manik in an X Division Scramble match is next. This may be to crown a new #1 contender. There are two wrestlers in the ring at a time while the others wait in their own corner for a tag. The match came down to Homicide and Low Ki. Ki gets the win.

* The Dudleys vs. The Hardys in a TLC match is next. This was described as an awesome match and the match of the night. Team 3D got the win. Both teams embraced after the match and celebrated together to end the show. Bully Ray called The Wolves to the ring for a promo. They may have been building to something between the teams at Bound For Glory.

NXT Results For 8/14/14

NXT Results for August 14th Episode:

– They are only taping 3 episodes tonight.

* Bull Dempsey and Mojo Rawley vs. Simon Gotch and Aiden English in a tournament match is next. The Vaudevillians get the win and Bull beats Mojo down after the match.

* Bayley defeated Sasha Banks with a roll-up to become the new #1 contender. Charlotte came out and shook hands with Bayley on the stage after the match.

* Sin Cara and Kalisto defeated Buddy Murphy and Wesley Blake in another tournament match.

* Tyler Breeze vs. Adrian Neville for the NXT Title is next. Tyson Kidd comes out to watch the match and causes a DQ when he interferes. Breeze confronts Tyson and they start brawling. Sami Zayn runs out and everyone fights now. This turns into Kidd and Breeze vs. Sami and Neville. Sami and Neville get the win to end the show.

Updates On Alberto Del Rio And WWE, Plus Notes On Social Media Employee

Some of the wrestlers were sympathetic to Alberto Del Rio after he was fired by WWE. Regarding the WWE employee that Del Rio assaulted, Cody Barbierri, one person told The Wrestling Observer that he was a “jerkoff who was very arrogant,” but said he was intelligent and his attitude had flown under the radar of WWE officials.

Another source noted to the newsletter that Barbierri had a few situations while on the road with WWE over the past year and he had a reputation for talking down to wrestlers. However, Barbierri has had the backing of Stephanie McMahon and has been a key player in WWE’s social media department.

F4WOnline reports that Rey Mysterio will not be appearing at this Sunday’s AAA TripleMania event in Mexico City. It was rumored that Mysterio would be joining Alberto Del Rio at the show. Del Rio confirmed his appearance at the show in the video above, however Mysterio is still under contract with WWE and WWE was never asked about him appearing, nor would they allow it.

As for Alberto Del Rio, he is doing media appearances in Mexico under that name, which is owned by WWE, for Sunday’s event. F4WOnline noted that the situation between Del Rio and WWE is “very acrimonious.” According to their report, WWE is trying to tie Del Rio up in a lengthy non-compete clause, similar to the one that Jim Ross had that just recently expired. WWE would have to pay Del Rio for the duration of the non-compete clause.

While Del Rio will be appearing at Sunday’s AAA show as a special guest, WWE does not want him appearing for AAA shows on the El Rey Network, nor do they want him appearing for TNA.

ROH Talent Raymond Rowe Involved In Serious Motorcycle Accident

– Ring of Honor announced today that Raymond Rowe, one of the tag team War Machine, was involved in a serious motorcycle accident:

We have just received word that current ROH star, one half of the tag team War Machine, RAYMOND ROWE was involved in a serious motorcycle accident. His injuries include severe bruising, lacerations. He also sustained a broken arm that will require surgery and rehabilitation. We at Rowe’s ROH family – wrestlers and fans – are incredibly grateful he will make a full recovery.

Unfortunately, Rowe will be out of action indefinitely while he rehabilitates. While there is currently no set date for his return, Rowe has sworn he’ll be back stronger and better than ever! We will have all updates here on rohwrestling.com.
