WWE Raw 6/13/16 Preshow Notes

My Monday workdays are over and it’s back to the Raw Report… I hope I don’t regret this…

No Otunga this week… Woot. Something positive already.

– Tonight on Raw it’s lots of talky segments. Cena/Styles Contract Signing, Reigns & Rollins on Ambrose Asylum. Bleh.

– Backstage, Fandango & Tyler Breeze are in towels… They remove their towels and stare at each others private parts to notice they have no tan lines… Both men then get into a stand up tanning booth… TOGETHER…. Rather than leave it there… R-Truth and Goldust then turn the tanning bed all the way up to the highest heat level….

We return to the Preshow and Booker T has the most disgusted face, it’s actually hilarious… When Stanford & Graves try and talk to Booker about the previous segment, he just stares off into space in disgust…. Best thing ever on the preshow… Booker is disgusted with the Breezango “tag team” shenanigans.

– Cesaro vs. Zayn tonight. Well that’s cool.

– Titus vs. Rusev at MITB, the panel discusses. Booker notes Titus having a recent “setback”.

– We’re reminded that Stephanie stole Teddy Long’s idea last week for the Fatal 4 Way for the Tag Titles at MITB. Tonight all 4 teams will compete in an 8 man tag. Wouldn’t be surprised if Vince didn’t have Big Cass beat everyone up and be tag champs himself.

– The announcers are confused how the Ambrose Asylum is back. lol

Well, that’s about it. Uneventful as ever…

WWE RAW REPORT 6/13/16 from the Smoothie King Center, New Orleans, LA

Moment of silence for the Orlando murders, all wrestlers on the stage.

Oh, you didn’t know? It’s the go home show to MITB. The announcers hype the program while the wrestlers file to the locker rooms.

TAG TEAM PROMO-MANIA

New Day promo in the ring about their MITB Fatal 4 Way. They make fun of Kofi’s “old people shoes”. Kofi calls them his “Stephen Curry’s”.

Enzo & Cass promo. They’re cool with New Day, but they plan to take the titles at MITB. Then they mock Kofi’s shoes. And apparently Enzo had sex with Woods’ trombone last night. Xavier says he’s the only one who “blows his girl”. This really isn’t funny.

The Vaudevillains finally interrupt with their own promo… Ugh, this doesn’t end. They sing, and are interrupts by Gallows & Anderson. Anderson is sick of EVERYONE. He calls it a Camp WWE Talent show. Gallows rips the Saints defense for cheap heel heat.

Cass calls them all SAWFT…. And we finally have a match…… AFTER A BREAK…

— Commercial Break —

MATCH #1: NEW DAY, ENZO & CASS VS. GALLOWS, ANDERSON, & THE VAUDEVILLAINS

In progress from break, New Day work over the Vaudevillains, the other teams aren’t being tagged in yet. Enzo is soon in and the heels take over on Enzo. All 4 heels work over Amore. Enzo hot tags Cass after a few minutes. Cass comes in and mauls over everyone. All heels powder. Kofi does an OVER THE RING POST SOMERSAULT DIVE out onto the Vaudevillains… And we go to break.

Back from break, Big E in control but is soon lured into the heel corner and gets a beat down. An eventual hot tag to Kofi. Kofi takes out the heels, Anderson ducks Trouble in Paradise, but lands a body block for 2. Everyone starts to get involved, and we’ve got high spots everywhere… Anderson blind tags Gallows, and they land their double team move to beat Kofi in something like 14:00.

Anderson & Gallows celebrate in the ring while the other three teams stare from the floor.

— Commercial Break —

– Life Lessons with Bob Backlund… Make Darren Young great… Again???

– SHANE RETURNS… Shane’s in the back with Stephanie. Shane says Steph can have whichever show she wants and he will take the other. Steph says she should have both… They argue…. CORPORATE KANE RETURNS…. He wants to run one of the shows to help them out. He presents a resume and a letter of recommendation from The Undertaker… lol, wtf…

– Zack Ryder is in the back with some other random peeps… Mocking Sheamus who got his ass handed to him from Apollo Crews. Sheamus says he will beat down Ryder tonight, and Crews at MITB… Ryder scares Sheamus by pretending Crews is behind him. Ryder disappears when Sheamus turns back around… Fella. I’ll just say it now rather than wait for the match… Poor Ryder.

— Commercial Break —

– Shining Stars – Primo & Epico promo. Their beaches are cleaner. Come to Puerto Rico.

– Titus O’Neil making his way out for a match… RUSEV ATTACKS ON THE STAGE AND SENDS TITUS OFF THE RAMPS TO THE CONCRETE!!! Rusev flings Titus into the side of the ramp, and then onto the ramp and stomps his skull. Accolade on the ramp as Lana watches… And at least it’s the original Accolade and not this recent one where he falls back which looked so lame… Rusev is pulled off but applies the Accolade a second time… Say what you will, at least this gives the match some type of interest.

— Commercial Break —

AMBROSE ASYLUM WITH SETH ROLLINS & ROMAN REIGNS

Ambrose chatter. Both champ and challenger come out. Ambrose gives Seth a bunch of shit and tells him to be happy. Seth begins to loosen up and talks about good times the Shield had. He talks their great 6 man tags. How they ran Batista off… Boo-tista chants. Seth says he most favorite time with the Shield was when he turned on them… Which gets a pop. lol. Seth also likes when he stole Reigns’ moment and took the WWE Title last year at Mania.

Crowd boos Reigns promo. Reigns asks if Seth is champion, then why is Roman holding the title. Seth puts over Roman beating Ambrose, Sheamus, and HHH, but he hasn’t beaten Seth. Rollins says he’s going to beat Reigns all on his own. Reigns responds with typical THE GUY verbiage…

Ambrose asks which will win… Rollins… Reigns… Or MAYBE Ambrose with MITB and cashes in to become the champ!!!

After the segment, ROLLINS ATTACKS REIGNS… Ambrose takes Seth down… REIGNS THROWS AMBROSE OFF ROLLINS… SUPERMAN PUNCH TO SETH….

But Dean doesn’t like getting thrown around… So, DIRTY DEEDS TO REIGNS!!!!! Awesome!

Boring as hell promo segment, but Dean was great at the end and the finish of the segment rocked, IMO… Too bad it took TWENTY MINUTES to get there.

Seriously, this segment could have served it’s purpose with half the time.

— Commercial Break —

– Stephanie informs Ambrose that he will face Jericho tonight in the main event… NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO… Not again.

MATCH #2: WOMENS’S CHAMPION CHARLOTTE VS. PAIGE
Dana Brooke with Charlotte, Natalya & Becky on commentary, and everyone gets a jobber entrance. Way to get that division over. Ninety minutes into the show and we have our second match. Paige controls, Charlotte with a big boot tries the Figure 8 but gets kicked outside by the babyface team. Back inside, RAMPAIGE gets the win in 2:30.

WTF WAS THAT???? She just jobbed LIKE A BITCH….

– Renee Young interviews Cesaro. Sami Zayn interrupts. Zayn wants to add his thoughts. Cesaro says Zayn still has a lot to prove.

— Commercial Break —

– Charlotte is in the back arguing with Dana Brooke. Charlotte blames Dana for the loss. She mocks Dana and Emma’s failure. She says if Dana costs her another match at MITB then she’s done… Wow, that was fast.

MATCH #3: ZACK RYDER VS. SHEAMUS
The Sheamus/Crews match is now a preshow match. Ryder controls early. El-Bro drop from the top gets 2. Sheamus comes back Brogue Kick ends it in 2;00…

WTF is up with this 2:00 match shit?

Sheamus attacks Zack after the match, Apollo Crews attacks Sheamus and sends him running off into the crowd.

— Commercial Break —

– Backstage, Kane is talking with Shane. Kevin Owens interrupts. He’s ratting on Alberto Del Rio just showing up to the building and being disrespectful. Owens thinks ADR should be removed from MITB… ADRio interrupts, he blames KO for causing him to be detained at the airport. Shane allows Kane to make a match. ADR & KO vs. Lucha Dragon, and if the heels lose then the Dragons will get their spots in MITB. lol, that’s a laugh.

MATCH #4: CESARO VS. SAMI ZAYN
These guys with back and forth goodness, feeling out and setting the tone. A nice solid opening sequence and we go to break.

Back from break, Cesaro with the uppercut train. He looks for the Swing, but settles for a double stomp on Zayn for 2. Cesaro nearly breaks his ankle in the process, he needs to lay off the double stomp. Zayn comes back, Michinoku Driver for 2 on Cesaro. Back and forth, Cesaro superplexes Zayn in from the apron for a near fall. Cesaro has control, launches Zayn up into a powerbomb but Sami rolls through into a sunset flip bomb for the win in 8:12.

This started off solid, then commercial ate up 3 minutes of the match, and there were a few spots after the break, but this was very underwhelming… Not blaming the guys involved, they did what they were told to do. Zayn gets a needed win heading into MITB.

— Commercial Break —

– WTF IS THIS??? We learn that WWE has gone green and they use hard drives instead of tapes to record footage… lol

CONTRACT SIGNING – JOHN CENA VS. AJ STYLES

Michael Cole is hosting. If I hear the f-ing words “WrestleMania caliber match” one more time… UGH!!!! Cena out first. Cena has respect for AJ Styles for fighting through PWG, Ring of Honor, New Japan, (he doesn’t mention TNA, LOL) to get to the WWE. And he finally made it here in the new era. Cena tells Cole to leave the ring before AJ comes out.

Out comes Styles. Dueling chants for both men. LMAO at AJ using Vince’s lines “in this very ring”.

Cena notes they’re 2 contracts. One is one on one, the other is Cena vs. AJ WITH The Club at ringside. Cena admits he will lose is the Club is at ringside, but AJ will be a little bitch. Or AJ can be a man and sign one on one without anyone at ringside.

Styles talks a while. Cena says his Club isn’t full of Bullets, it’s full of Bull. He says AJ is just like all the other “INDY DUDES” who came in thinking they were entitled. OUCH! Cena tells AJ to sign the one on one contract, or he will be on a Bullet train back to Japan to find his balls.

AJ Styles signs the one on one contract. No interference. AJ says he’s not every other “Independent Wrestler” with Cena’s “K-Mart Shopper Ass”… LMAO…. I dunno WTF that had to do with the segment, but I still found it funny.

And the segment ends without the typical brawl, thank God.

— Commercial Break —

MATCH #5: ALBERTO DEL RIO & KEVIN OWENS VS. THE LUCHA DRAGONS
Remember now, if the Dragons win they get the heels’ spots in MITB… LOL. Kalisto gets his butt kicked, Del Rio has words with KO. Owens starts to leave but realizes they can’t lose the match, so Kevin tries to prevent ADR from losing a fall. With the heels arguing, the Dragons do some flippies and suicide dives to the heels outside and we go to break.

Back from break, Del Rio takes over on Kalisto. The heels argue again and get in a shoving match. Kalisto knocks ADR into Owens and Salida Del Sol to Del Rio!!!! Hot tag to Sin Cara. Swanton to ADR, but Owens saves the match. Owens drags ADR to the corner and tags himself in. Cara springboard reverse body block and springboard back elbow. And springboard moonsault to KO.

Kalisto tries a suicide dive on ADR, but Rio side steps and sends him into the barricade hard… Back inside, Cara sends Owens into Del Rio on the apron. Cara tries a roll up for a near fall… Then runs into a KO Pop Up Powerbomb ends it in 8:00 or so.

After the match, ADR lays out Owens with a kick to the head.

– We go to a video of IC Champion the Miz who is busy making a movie… What a great choice for champion, a guy who can’t even work shows. But that’s Zack Ryder’s luck….

— Commercial Break —

– Backstage, Kevin Owens is arguing with Stephanie. Stephanie agrees with KO that Shane is making bad decisions. Steph agrees. We find out that Zayn and Owens will be on guest commentary for Jericho vs. Ambrose. Del Rio gets named guest time keeper. Ugh. I hope Bray Wyatt shows up and lays everyone out. Wouldn’t that be nice?

– Shane and Steph argue about things. They talk about Corporate Kane.. Speaking of which, Kane returns. They inform Kane he won’t be General Manager of Smackdown. Kane is bummed. Mark another one off the list… Still waiting for Vicki and John Laurinitis…

– Cesaro is now guest ring announcer for the main event. Lovely.

— Commercial Break —

MATCH #6: DEAN AMBROSE VS. CHRIS JERICHO
Okay, so Owens & Zayn on commentary. Cesaro was ring announcer. ADRio is time keeper. Go all that? Ambrose looking good as things get going, he knocks Jericho off the apron and lands a suicide dive. Ambrose and Owens get into an argument, and Jericho attacks from behind to take control. Chris works over Dean and then dropkicks him off the apron back outside. Owens tries to attack Dean, but Sami Zayn stands up to prevent it. Then Cesaro steps in, and Del Rio with a chair. All four men that are NOT in this match have a bit of a staredown at ringside while we go to commercial.

Back from break, Jericho has control and all the other guys are back in their seats. Dean tries a comeback but Jericho cuts him off. Chris tries a top rope superplex but Dean throws him off. Flying elbow from Ambrose, no Chris counters with the Walls of Jericho. Dean gets to the ropes. Lionsault gets 2. Dean comes back with a wicked clothesline, and the top rope elbow gets 2. Lots of finisher teases and counters. Ambrose counters a Codebreaker and lands DIRTY DEEDS. Ambrose wins in 12:00. Jericho must be on his way out, he’s jobbing left and right now.

And now the predictable Six man brawl commences between the men involved in MITB. Zayn launches himself off the top rope with a somersault dive on everyone but Jericho. With everyone down and out, Jericho places a ladder in the ring and climbs to the top. And Jericho takes the briefcase to end the show. Says a lot for this show that I’m even curious.

Lackluster would be too kind to describe this crap. Even the matches that should have been decent weren’t really much of anything. I had some chuckles at the opening promo in reference to Kofi’s shoes, and I liked some of the Cena/Styles banter. But overall, this show just dragged. No need to watch any of the matches.

So as I scroll back through I just realized, we never got the payoff for the Breezango in the tanning booth thingy from the preshow… No big loss, but weird. Says a lot about the show when I reference that at the end. lol

If you recorded it, if you’re into New Day or Enzo/Cass you can check out their part of the opening promo. You can check out the closing moments of the Shield segment, and you can watch Cena/Styles promo. Otherwise, nothing to see here at all.

Raw Preshow Notes

– I’ve learned that Sheamus has the night off… +1 point already…

– Paige vs. Charlotte tonight, as well as Ziggler vs. Corbin (yawn), and a 6-man elimination Usos & Reigns vs. “The Club”. Yes, they’re called “The Club”, for now. See it’s different from their last two 6 man matches LAST WEEK, because it’s ELIMINATION… Three times in 8 days… No thanks.

– Some crappy internet interview with Kalisto. Rusev wrestles Sin Cara tonight… And at this point they’ve announced half of tonight’s card and I’m wondering why the hell I plan to continue to review it for the sake of my sanity…

– Booker T is on a role tonight, he already made a comment about “people bein’ fired this week” and “Ryback getting run off”. He just doesn’t care… Or he knows that nobody of relevance is watching.

– Chris Jericho’s Highlight Reel kicks off Raw… And it’s also New Day vs. The Dudleys… Man this show sounds like pure ass… They NEVER announce this many segments in advance… They’re basically DARING ME to review this crud… Blah… It’s gonna be one of those nights folks… And sadly I know what I’m walking into…

The WWE Raw Report 5/9/16

– Well IF Ryback was in the intro video, he’s not anymore…

* CHRIS JERICHO’S HIGHLIGHT REEL / BIG CASS *

Jericho’s guest was “supposed to be” Ambrose, but Dean is physically unable to appear because of Y2J. Dean may never return because of Y2J. Jericho then presents the remains of MITCH the plant. A small Mitch chant begins… Poor Mitch is now just dead leaves and roots… Mitch is more over than half the roster… Jericho shows Social Media comments about the passing of Mitch… More Mitch chants.

Jericho thinks it’s funny the crowd cares more about Mitch than Ambrose. Jericho says Mitch has more worth than Ambrose. Ambrose is a loser and slob just like the fans.

Big Cass interrupts… The new era of stars have arrived and he will run through Jericho. Y2J tells Cass to go run & find Enzo “Annoying”. Cass doesn’t run, he fights… Right now… Jericho is the best in the world…. But Cass is 7 feet tall, and you can’t….teach…that….

Jericho teases fighting Cass, but leaves the ring. Cass informs Jericho that he is S-A-W-F-T….

Jericho gets pissed and jumps back onto the apron and Big Cass big boots Jericho to the floor!

— Commercial Break —

– Jericho confronts Stephanie McMahon backstage. He thinks Shane is crazy, but Steph is backing Shane… She books Jericho vs. Cass for tonight and questions if Jericho is
Sawwwwft. She tells Jericho not to drive a wedge between her and Shane eeeeever agayne.

MATCH #1: DOLPH ZIGGLER VS. BARON CORBIN

Insert promo from Baron Corbin, this isn’t a new era, it’s HIS era. Baron starts out aggressive, they fight to the floor, Baron misses a boot into the barricade, Ziggler dropkicks him into the crowd and we go to break.

Back from break, Corbin has control… Ziggler makes his comeback… Corbin lands a Deep Six for a near fall. Dolph comes fighting back but runs into End Of Days and this one is over in 8:00 or so. Extended squash.

— Commercial Break —

– Shane McMahon is confronted by Ric Flair & Charlotte. They kiss Shane’s ass and ask him to think over Stephanie banning Flair from the Submission match at Extreme Rules. Shane goes one further and bans Ric from ringside tonight as well…

– Jojo is with AJ Styles, Luke Gallows, and Karl Anderson. Reigns put Styles through a table last week. AJ wants revenge and says the club is now officially back together again.

— Commercial Break —

MATCH #2: FANDANGO (w/GOLDUST) VS. R-TRUTH (w/TYLER BREEZE)
Truth has blond in his locks now. Typical R-Truth offense begins. Dango sends Truth to the floor and he takes over. Goldy & Breeze up on the apron, Dango sends Truth into Breeze sending Tyler to the floor, yet somehow Truth comes back with the Lie Detector and gets the win as the crowd remains silent. Michel Cole rips the tag match set for Smackdown.

– Backstage, it’s Cesaro, Owens, Miz, Zayn backstage with Shane & Steph arguing about Extreme Rules and title shots. Right now Zayn isn’t in the match, but he wants Miz non-title tonight to get into the match at the PPV if he can beat Miz tonight. Mitch granted. Shane & Steph seem to be getting along, Shane looks confused and I can only assume Steph is setting him up for the HHH return.

— Commercial Break —

MATCH #3: WOMEN’S CHAMPION CHARLOTTE VS. PAIGE

Non-title. Ric Flair barred from ringside. Natalya on commentary. Charlotte controls in heel fashion. Paige with some hope spots and a comeback with kicks and knee strikes for 2. NASTY knee to the face to Charlotte. Superkick to Charlotte gets a near fall. Charlotte fights back and chops the shit out of Paige. Paige prevents a moonsault, Paige lands a SUPERPLEX for another near fall. Paige looks for the PTO buy Charlotte gets to the ropes. Paige goes face first into the buckle, Charlotte rolls her up with her feet on the ropes, but Nattie gets on the apron to stop it.

Out comes RIC FLAIR….. Wooooo…. Flair distracts and Charlotte takes over… but HERE COMES THE MONAYYYYYYYYYY… Shane McMahon out with a group of referees to force Flair to the back… The distraction allows Paige to roll Charlotte up for the win in 7:41.

— Commercial Break —

MATCH #4: IC CHAMP THE MIZ (w/MARYSE) VS. SAMI ZAYN

Non-title. If Zayn can win, he’s in the match at Extreme Rules. Zayn is all over Miz… Miz finally bails and pulls Maryse in front of him so Sami won’t dive out. The fight goes to the floor, Zayn hits a moonsault off the barricade and whips Miz into the barricde repeatedly. Maryse distracts which I assume leads to Miz taking over but I can’t be sure because we abruptly go to break…

Back from break, Zayn is taking control again. Miz dumps Zayn to the floor to take over. Owens and Cesaro are both shown watching backstage in their own areas. Miz looks for the SCFinale, but Sami blocks. Miz with the DDT instead for 2. Zayn with a Michinoku Driver OUTTA NOWHERE for a near fall. Sami goes up top but misses nd Mi locks in a Figure Four… Zayn gets the ropes for the break. Miz sits down on a sunset flip attempt from Zayn. Ref catches Miz using the ropes. Miz runs into a plex in the corner, and then the HELLUVA kick ends it in 2:38. Zayn gets in the Extreme Rules IC Title match.

– Backstage Renee Young interviews Becky Lynch. She’s pissed at Emma. Emma interrupts… Becky is attacked from behind by a debuting Dana Brooke from NXT… Brooke lays Becky out and leaves with Emma.

— Commercial Break —

– Darren Young / Bob Backlund Vignette… The announcers are speechless. Michael Cole says “whatever”.

– A shameless New Day / Ziggler / Sasha Banks vignette for Pizza Hut.

– Backstage Zack Ryder is talking with Shane McMahon. Ryder says he can be a player. Kevin Owens interrupts. KO hates losers like Zack. If Zack can beat Owens tonight, he will replace KO at Extreme Rules… Not likely… Sigh.

– Roman Reigns & The Usos promo. They’re blood. Reigns heels it up pretty good.

— Commercial Break —

MATCH #5: SIN CARA (w/KALISTO) VS. RUSEV (w/LANA)

Rusev’s tights now read “BRUTE”. Rusev dominates, pure power. Cara finally comes back with a springing DDT and cross body. Moonsault press in the ring and a dive outside onto Rusev. Back inside Cara runs right into Rusev’s big kick. RUSEV CRUSH… NOOO… Kalisto & Lana on the apron. The ref is distracted by Lana and Kalisto lands a cheap enzuigiri to Rusev and Cara rolls Rusev up for the win in 3:46… WTF kind of booking is that? That really makes sense… Way to build Rusev back up… I don’t see how that furthered or built anything.

— Commercial Break —

– Primo & Epico Vignette… Still waiting for Carlito to show up 😛

Cole says Primo & Epico will return next week.

ELIMINATION MATCH
MATCH #6: ROMAN REIGNS & THE USOS VS. AJ STYLES, LUKE GALLOWS & KARL ANDERSON

Team Samoa dominate Anderson early. Gallows tags in and mauls Uso. The Club take over on Jimmy. Hot tag early to Jey. Jey with a roll up, Anderson kicks him off and into a shot from Gallows on the floor. Karl rolls Jey up with a hook of the pants to eliminate Jey in 2:40.

Reigns comes in and goes off, Superman punch sends AJ off the apron. Jimmy Uso enzuigiri to Gallows, turns his attention to Anderson, and Luke nails Jimmy with a big boot. Anderson tags in but falls prey to a small package… Uso eliminates Anderson in 4:45. It’s 2 vs. 2.

What lackluster crappy eliminations… Blah… Off to commercial.

Back from break, Jimmy Uso was eliminated during the break… WTF… Wow… Guess they couldn’t wait… What garbage. AJ pinnes Jimmy with the Phenomenal Forearm during the break somewhere aroound the 8:00 mark.

Roman Reigns pins Gallows in 9:30 with a frickin Superman Punch… Really??? WTF…. This is doing nobody involved any favors.

It’s one on one… Styles nails a pele kick on Reigns and the fight goes outside. AJ clears the announce table off. Reigns fights back and throws Styles over top of the table. Reigns looks to powerbomb Styles through the table again, but Karl Anderson attacks with a chair to cause the DQ in 11:41. What crap

Superman Asshole spears Gallows… Spears Anderson…. AJ back in with n enzuigiri to Reigns. AJ tries a Styles clash but is dumped to the apron. Reigns dares AJ to try the Phenomenal forearm… AJ dares Reigns to use the chair at his feet. Both guys try to get the better but it’s a stand off.

How much more could they bury Gallows and Anderson already?

— Commercial Break —

MATCH #7: ZACK RYDER VS. KEVIN OWENS

If Ryder wins, he replaces Owens in the IC Title match at Extreme Rules… Not a f-kin chance….. Owens dominates and lands a senton. Ryder counters a powerbomb on the floor with a backdrop. Middle rope dropkick from Zack gets 2. Owens comes back with a clothesline to the back of the head. Owens misses the corner Cannonball. KO dodges a Broski boot and rolls outside… Ryder lands the boot against the barricade instead. Ryder with a top rope EL-BRO drop for 2. KO turns the Rough Ryder into a Stun Gun across the top rope. Superkick and Pop Up Powerbomb ends it for Zacky in 4:04.

Owens retains his spot.

– Renee Young with Big Cass… They are pushing the term “NEW ERA” down our throat tonight… That’s what this era is now called… The New Era… Better learn it… Or they will continue to say it 9,000 times a show.

— Commercial Break —

Video of Freddie Prinze as he shills his new TV show with Dana Carvey “First Impressions” and then Freddie intros the New Day….

Insert B&W promo from the Vaudevillains.

New Day Promo on the Vaudevillains… Dudleys music eventually interrupts.

— Commercial Break —

MATCH #8: TAG CHAMPS NEW DAY (w/Woods) VS. THE DUDLEY BOYZ

Match in progress with the Dudleys controlling Kofi. Eventual hot tag to Big E. Unicorn Stampede. Xavier Woods celebrates with the trombone and the Vaudevillains attack him. The distraction leads to D-Von murdering Kofi with a clothesline for the win in at least 5:30.

After the match, the Vaudevillains lay out New Day and hit the Whirling Dervish on Kofi.

— Commercial Break —

MATCH #9: CHRIS JERICHO VS. BIG CASS

Enzo getting hurt sadly had to of brought a smile to Vince’s face. A reason to try and push a 7 foot wrestler in singles. I do like that they’re keeping the Enzo/Cass team fresh, but I fear this is Vince’s way of trying to get himself a 7 footer singles star.

Big Cass waits in the ring as Chris Jericho makes his way out… But it’s Dean Ambrose in Jericho’s jacket!!! Ambrose dropped Jericho on the stage and took his jacket…. Jericho begs Ambrose not to harm his $15,000 jacket. Ambrose rips the lighting wire out of the jacket.

Jericho rushes the ring to save his jacket… Jericho eventually escapes with his jacket but runs into Big Cass. Jericho slaps Cass and gets thrown into the barricade for his troubles… Cass tosses Jericho inside into DIRTY DEEDS….

Ambrose then cuts up Jericho’s lighted jacket. THAT WAS FOR MITCH!

But seriously… LAME, LAME finish.

Jericho is pissy.

Backstage, Shane & Stephanie are talking about Dean & Jericho. They seem to begetting long… Shane walks off and Stephanie makes an evil face… mwahahahaha

This….was…. Woof….

More WWE Releases Expected Soon, Seth Green Talks Camp WWE & Vince McMahon

0

– There are rumors swirling of more WWE releases being announced soon. PWInsider reports that more releases were expected to be revealed before the end of May.

Source: WWE

Actor and Camp WWE producer Seth Green recently spoke with WWE’s website and confirmed they are working on ideas for a season 2. Green commented that they could run 10 seasons of the show. Green also noted that the show was Vince McMahon’s idea.

Below are highlights from the interview:

When it came to casting, how receptive was Mr. McMahon to the idea of portraying himself in the role?

“Originally, we had just assumed that we’d have all actors and hadn’t thought that anybody would want to play themselves. But when they proposed the idea of Vince playing Vince, that just gave us a completely different opportunity for the kind of content that we would write. He’s an expert performer for over 30 years and we had no doubt that we could enhance his existing characteristics into absurdity and that he would be an expert at performing it. And we were right. I don’t think people are ready, man.”

How did you go about reimagining WWE Superstars as 8- and 9-year-old campers?

“We just stayed true to the characters. We just tried to find the things that are specific about them and then make them applicable. John Cena’s the best example of it because he’s such a huge persona, like a champion for so long and so awesome and a good dude. And somehow, over time, with him just being so awesome, it made the audience conflicted: ‘Do we love this guy? Or, do we hate him for always being so predictably awesome?’ Making that into a kid that’s not going to quit is just hilarious for us. He’s real and never quits, but nobody likes him at the same time.”

One of Camp WWE’s unique attributes is the show’s TV-MA rating. Were there any boundaries?

“I’ve made TV-MA network content and this stays right in those parameters. This is on par with ‘Archer’ or ‘South Park.’ We applied that level of intellectual observation to this universe. We’re trying to write stories that are deeply emotionally textured and also madcap silly because these characters are so much larger than life in reality. Once you start to extrapolate, you can get into amazing territory.”

The WWE Network royalties lawsuit being dismissed:

I think (Rene) Dupree was being manipulated by the same lawyer that has been running around bringing these CTE cases against the company and in fact we know he is. That whole business started with this guy advertising on the internet looking for people to sue the WWE and that he’s made various promises and representations to these people about what he thinks he is going to get for them and all the rest of that. After the judge in the CTE cases issued her subsequent rulings throwing out two of the cases and five-sixths of the other one while expressing skepticism about whether that claim would survive, shortly after that we believe he got Dupree to bring this royalties case as kind of a way to deflect attention from what was happening in the other cases and knowing full well that frankly Dupree’s case couldn’t go anywhere. As matters turned out (Dupree) evidently didn’t tell the lawyers he recruited to bring the case and to hide his own involvement that he had signed not one but two contracts that prohibited him from bringing such claims and as soon as the lawsuit was brought to my attention I sent an email the night they filed it to the lawyer in Chicago.

I brought this to the attention of the Chicago lawyer and said I assume you don’t know this because any lawyer who saw these documents wouldn’t bring this lawsuit but here is what your client signed. And as you can see it absolutely prohibits this lawsuit that you’ve brought and that I demand you withdraw it immediately. And he wrote back saying very professionally thank you and that I was not aware of this and that he’ll look into it. And I am sure he did and as the evidence shows, he then withdrew the lawsuit which was the only proper thing he could have done frankly. He could have not continued the lawsuit at all once. I brought that to his attention and Dupree would have known it too, and it was all designed I think to create some negative publicity for the company and see if they could maybe get somebody better then Dupree to bring such a lawsuit which is kind of “trolling” if you will for a plaintiff.

How does the dismissed case differ from the Doug Somers/Gilbert Family lawsuits:

I don’t think it does. They were trying to make it different by making contractual claims but these claims have never succeeded yet and I don’t think they ever will. Gilbert, Somers and there are a bunch of cases like Freddie Dryer and a bunch of guys that opted out of the NFL and if you remember the NFL had similar cases. They had a class action case brought against them from former NFL players on the NFL Network which the NFL as they seem to do, have a lot of money to throw around and they chose to settle with that class and pay them some money. But a couple guys, including Freddie Dryer, and the rest of about twelve others opted out of that class and brought their own lawsuit alleging that the NFL owed them more money then I guess was bigger than they would have got through the class action settlement (which was kind of a dumb move). Now you have to survive motions to dismiss that can be filled to dismiss such claims and the NFL did and they lost and the court threw their claims out.

Basically, the way the law works on this stuff is pretty simple. We are the owner of the copyrights of all of these things. The WWE is the sole and exclusive owner of the copyrights. Federal copyright law rewards the people who make the investments in creating these copyrighted works and go out and hire the talent and the stadiums and the cameras and all the expense of creating these films with exclusive rights of display, reproduction and sale. So when these people come in and say you are being unjustly and I’m not getting any of this money, the defense is always that the federal copyright law gives us the exclusive right to do it and preempts any of these state law claims that you are trying to assert that would burden our rights of ownership and they get thrown out every time.

The reason why talent from defunct promotions have no claim to royalties from WWE Network:

Let me use ECW as an example. ECW if you recall your history went into Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Whenever you go into a Chapter 7 bankruptcy what happens is your assets and your liabilities are marshalled. The bankruptcy trustee tries to sell the assets of the bankruptcy estate to generate some cash to pay off creditors who would be for example any ECW talent that are owed money from ECW and would share any money that is available which is usually not very much because when you are bankrupt you don’t get very much and when somebody goes bankrupt like ECW does it essentially wipes out all the claims of anybody that they would have against ECW for contract royalties or contract claims against ECW. The assets of the company are put up for sale free and clear of all liens and that is part of the whole bankruptcy sale. When you think about it nobody is going to buy assets that carry with it liabilities. So what you had there was this entire film library of ECW that would have been sitting somewhere in a cardboard box right now and not being displayed anywhere, and the WWE decided it would buy and pay money to buy the films and the copyrights that go with those films and obtain from the bankruptcy court a bill of sale giving the WWE in exchange for the money we paid for those the sole right, title and interest to the copyrights of those works. That is why the WWE has the legal right to display them on the Network free and clear of any claims, plain and simple.

Is Vince McMahon preserving the history of Professional Wrestling:

Yes and I think you can see it by his actions. He is a custodian of wrestling history right now and it’s been his whole life. It’s been the life of his family, it’s generational. I think he cares greatly about the history of this business and has great respect for the people who have been part of it and who have helped him build it.

How would he describe Vince McMahon:

I think he is a fascinating person. One of my favorite stories about Vince is when you first undertake to represent anybody as a lawyer you form judgments about the people you are representing and whether you get emotionally invested in them or whether you don’t. Are they honest? Are they truthful? In the early days when I was forming my relationship with him back in the early 90s and during the time the government was doing all this and it was a horrible time because all of the tabloid wars and all of these horrible and sensational stories telling these lurid and false tales about people up there; it was just miserable times. What I will always remember was one day when the headlines were just terrible and lurid and false and the kind of stuff that would make everyone angry, we were walking out of his office late at night one night and there was this fella, a janitor named Nick, who I learned later that he had a need for a dialysis machine in the building in order to keep his job which they did just to keep this janitor working. When I came out of the office I saw him standing there mopping the floor and Vince came out of the office right after me and was walking down the hallway and Vince turned around after this hellish day and goes back and starts asking how’s his family, how are you doing and took the time to care about that little guy in the building that most people probably wouldn’t know his name. But he did and he cared about him and that was such an interesting scene. And I have never forgotten that about Vince. A part from that, part of him as a business man he is fascinating to watch and I think he is a great marketer of our era and what he has done with this business is just mind boggling when you watch WrestleMania and you see the production values and the people from all over the world that come to see it, it’s extraordinary. When you see the influence on television even beyond wrestling and you see how these politicians now use sort of the ring entrance mode to build drama for themselves in various ways and how the NFL has stolen, if you will some of the camera techniques that were used in the XFL, his influence on television and marketing is extraordinary.

Billy Jack Haynes being the “lead” wrestler to sue WWE as part of the ongoing concussion lawsuits:

Billy Jack Haynes goes all the way back to the late 80s/early 90s and he was doing the same stuff then and everybody in the business knows what he is. The idea that this “trolling” campaign where this Kyros fella was out there looking for people to sue and the best you could come up with was a Billy Jack Haynes to supposedly put forward as he’s going to be the representative of a class representing all of the people to ever perform for the WWE? Do you really think for a minute that people like Rock and Stone Cold think that Billy Jack Haynes is somebody they want representing their interests? It’s ridiculous. That is basically what he would be doing in that situation.

He (Kyros) was doing the same thing with him (Billy Jack Haynes) but just trying to do it with Dupree and that was trying to make some very sensational charges that were false from the minute they were made. When they were made, we got on the phone with him and said these charges you have made are false and you know they are false and if they are not withdrawn, we are going to seek sanctions against you. They quickly withdrew much of what they said that was absolutely false. They have continued to do the same thing however and the recent opinion that the judge issued dismissing Haynes’ claim and dismissing the claims of (Russ) McCullough, (Ryan) Sakoda and Matt Wiese (Luther Reigns) is (the judge) actually made findings that they had made false allegations in the lawsuit and noted that there are sanctions and notions pending against them and went on to describe all of these totally inconsistent and sometime incomprehensible allegations through this litigation. Billy Jack Haynes is just being used and will never see one penny for anything.

The re-branding of the World Wrestling Federation to World Wrestling Entertainment in 2002:

Actually it was kind of interesting the way that transition took place pretty quickly. It was another one of Vince’s clever and genius ideas to just switch one letter. The whole ordeal with the World Wild Life Fund was kind of crazy, and I never did understand why they cared because nobody ever confused us with them and watching the whole English Court proceedings and seeing how different that was then American Court proceedings was kind of frustrating from my standpoint because it was the one big case that I couldn’t handle. The English Court would not allow American Lawyers to try cases in their court rooms and so I could only go there and watch. And it was infuriating to sit there and watch that and to not be able to do anything. But whenever they issued their orders that we couldn’t be “WWF” in the way we wanted to be anymore, it was just too burdensome to comply with the requirements of what we had to do if we were going to be “WWF” and so Vince just came up with the idea of we will change to “WWE.” And I don’t know if you remember the slogan “get the F out;” It’s kind of clever and now it actually captures what they do maybe better than the word federation anyway because they are an entertainment company and that is exactly what the business is so it was a very successful re-brand I thought.
