Backstage Talk On Hideo Itami Adapting To The WWE Style, What He Receives High Marks For

0

There was at least some concern among people in WWE developmental that Hideo Itami, the former Kenta, may be trying too hard to adapt to the WWE style of working in the ring. The feeling relayed to me was that Itami trying so hard to work the WWE style was resulting in some of his in-ring action being too lite.

The finish to one of Itami’s matches at the last set of NXT TV tapings had to be re-done because one of his kicks didn’t connect.

With that said, Itami has received high marks for how hard he works and how he’s improving his English. Officials still look at Itami as one of their top developmental talents to build with.

Billy Jack Haynes’ WWE Lawsuit Update, Says He Got Hepatitis C During Match, View Lawsuit

As noted earlier, former WWE star Billy Jack Haynes filed a lawsuit against WWE in federal court last week for “egregious mistreatment of its wrestlers for its own benefit, as well as its concealment and denial of medical research and evidence concerning traumatic brain injuries suffered by WWE wrestlers.”

TMZ has an article about the lawsuit here. TMZ noted that Haynes blames WWE for contracting Hepatitis C, which he claims to have contracted during “blood-soaked matches” with the company. He also claimed that the company encouraged cocaine and steroid use.

As noted earlier, WWE responded to the lawsuit with the following statement:

“Billy Jack Haynes performed for WWE from 1986-1988. His filed lawsuit alleges that WWE concealed medical information and evidence on concussions during that time, which is impossible since the condition now called chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) had not even been discovered. WWE was well ahead of sports organizations in implementing concussion management procedures and policies as a precautionary measure as the science and research on this issue emerged. Current WWE procedures include ImPACT testing for brain function, annual educational seminars and the strict prohibition of deliberate and direct shots to the head. Additionally, WWE has committed significant funding for concussion research conducted by the Sports Legacy Institute (SLI), leaders in concussion research, and WWE Executive Vice President Paul Levesque sits on SLI’s Board.”

Ronda Rousey’s UFC Title Fight Moved, Weidman – Belfort Official, GSP On Chael’s Podcast

0

UFC president Dana White confirmed another double-title event for February, as both Chris Weidman and Ronda Rousey will defend their titles at UFC 184. The card is scheduled for the Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 28.

Earlier in the day, Vitor Belfort posted on Twitter that he had signed a fight contract to meet Weidman for the middleweight title. The two were originally set to collide in December, but Weidman bowed out with a hand injury.

Rousey and her opponent, Cat Zingano, were once reported for the January UFC 182 card featuring Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier. Instead, Rousey will defend her title alongside Weidman for a third time, having done so each of the past two Fourth of July-based events.

Weidman (12-0) has scored back-to-back successful title defenses, besting former UFC champions Lyoto Machida and Anderson Silva. He won the belt from Silva last year and will be meeting another former champion in Belfort (24-10). “The Phenom” was forced to delay his title bout due to the ban placed on TRT by the UFC and the Nevada Athletic Commission.

Rousey (10-0) and Zingano (9-0) were set to meet in 2013, but a knee injury by “Alpha” knocked her out of both the title fight and role as coach on The Ultimate Fighter. Rousey went on to defeat Miesha Tate, following that up with quick finishes of Alexis Davis and Sara McMann. Zingano returned from a year-plus layoff to down Amanda Nunes earlier this year.

– Georges St-Pierre was a guest on Chael Sonnen’s podcast recently, and the former UFC welterweight champion made it perfectly clear he has not decided if a return to MMA is in his future. St-Pierre was cleared to return to training recently after suffering a knee injury.

“I started training when I was seven years old,” St-Pierre said (thanks to MMAjunkie.com for transcribing). “I’ve never stopped. Training is part of my life, so it doesn’t mean anything. It doesn’t mean I’m going to be back or not. Whether I retire or not or come back or not, I’m always going to be training.”

St-Pierre announced his decision to vacate the title last year following a successful defense vs. current champion Johny Hendricks. He is 25-2 in his MMA career, including a 19-2 mark inside the Octagon.

Backstage News On CM Punk’s Relationship With WWE And His Merchandise Being Sold Again

Source: PWInsider Elite

There has obviously been some contact between WWE and CM Punk’s camp recently as his merchandise was added back to WWE’s shop website and he’s still in the plans for next year’s Flintstones movie.

A source very close to Punk described it to PWInsider as loose ends being tied up. There has been no new performer deal signed by Punk and he is not returning. The sources close to Punk insisted that Punk is a retired pro wrestler and won’t be wrestling for any company any time soon.

Regarding the merchandise, Punk was still under contract to WWE through July, so WWE had the rights to sell his merchandise. Once he left in July, Punk took the likeness and rights with him because he’s owned the name for years, long before he signed with WWE.

Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena NOT At Royal Rumble?, What Is Advertised for Cena And Reigns

0

The Wells Fargo Center, which will be the site of the 2015 Royal Rumble, has released updated advertising for the event today. It had been expected that Brock Lesnar will defend the WWE Championship against John Cena at the event, however the updated advertising states that Cena – along with Roman Reigns – will be participating in the 30-man Royal Rumble match:

Royal Rumble’s main event is a battle royal, over-the-top-rope, 30-man elimination match where only one wrestler will be left standing. WWE Superstars John Cena, Roman Reigns, Bray Wyatt, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Kane and many more fight it out in the City of Brotherly Love for a chance to compete in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match at WrestleMania 31.
John Cena is the face of the WWE, and one of the most decorated wrestlers in history. He has 15 reigns as World Champion, and the two-time Rumble winner is looking to become just the second superstar in history to win the Rumble three times. The 12-year veteran has also won the United States Championship, the World Tag Team Championship, and the WWE Tag Team Championship.

Roman Reigns looks to improve on last year’s record-setting Royal Rumble performance when he eliminated 12 participants in the battle royal match before finishing second, losing to Batista. He already has been a WWE Tag Team Champion, and the former NFL defensive lineman looks to be a future WWE Champion in the making.

As noted earlier, Lesnar is currently advertised for the December 8th RAW in Greenville, SC, which is the go-home show for WWE TLC, so it’s possible that Lesnar vs. Cena could take place at that event.

Tickets for The Royal Rumble will go on sale this Saturday, November 1st at ComCastTix.com or at the Wells Fargo Center Box Office.
