Why Was The WWE Network UK Launch Delayed?

As noted, WWE Network delayed their UK launch today just 20 minutes before it was scheduled to go live.

The Network UK launch was delayed at the last minute due to the same reason the original October 1st launch didn’t happen – because of ongoing negotiations with Sky TV.

WWE signed a new five-year TV deal with BSkyB this past January for a major rights fees increase. With the new deal, it was announced that all pay-per-views would air on Sky Sports Box Office. Up until this year, 4 pay-per-views would air on Sky Sports at no extra charge for people who have the channel, while the remaining shows were on Sky Box Office at £14.95 per event.

Bray Wyatt To Reveal Dean Ambrose Secret, Ring Announcer Has Flight Issues, Piper’s Pit, More

– As seen on SmackDown, Bray Wyatt cut a promo on his feud with Dean Ambrose and teased a dark secret from Ambrose’s past. WWE is teasing that Wyatt may reveal that secret on RAW tonight.

– Roddy Piper’s latest guests on his Piper’s Pit podcast are WWE Hall of Famer Jesse Ventura and UFC creator Art Davie.

– The WWE RAW Backstage Pass post-show will return tonight at 11:06pm EST on the WWE Network. The RAW pre-show will be airing as usual.

– RAW ring announcer Lilian Garcia has been having some travel issues as she heads to tonight’s RAW. She tweeted the following around 4am:

“Really hope I get 2 Buffalo tomro 4 #Raw ! Had 2 @AmericanAir flights cancel on me 2day due 2 maintenance! Now flight is @ 6am. #Prayers”

American Airlines tweeted her back about 8am and said they will have her on a flight as soon as possible.

– Lilian Garcia isn’t the only WWE star having trouble with American Airlines this weekend. Emma worked this weekend’s live events without her luggage, thanks to the airline. Emma worked last night’s live event in Binghamton, New York wearing a modified Binghamton Senators hockey jersey.

– NXT ring announcer and former Total Diva Jo Jo made her main roster live event debut last night as a ring announcer. She worked the Syracuse live event and impressed some fans in attendance. She was seen joking with John Cena after the main event, apparently taking some advice.

Top WWE Star Pulled From Survivor Series?, Backstage Notes On Tonight’s RAW & Randy Orton

We noted before that WWE may be doing an injury angle with Randy Orton to write him off TV for a few weeks as he will begin filming The Condemned 2 on November 11th. If they do it, that angle would happen tonight as next week’s RAW takes place from England and Orton was pulled from that tour.

It’s still very possible that Orton misses Survivor Series, despite being expected for the Team Cena vs. Team Authority match. Orton was pulled from local advertising for the pay-per-view, which takes place in his hometown of St. Louis. It was said that there’s a good chance Orton misses Survivor Series but because The Condemned 2 is a WWE movie, they can always give him a day off to work the pay-per-view.

Orton’s last scheduled date is tonight’s RAW. He is not booked for Tuesday’s SmackDown tapings in Albany and as noted, is not booked for the European tour that begins this week.

On a related note, this has become the norm but the script for tonight’s RAW was not finalized as of late Sunday night.

Tonight’s WWE RAW takes place from the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, New York. No matches have been announced for tonight but Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose in a Street Fight is advertised locally.

A Team Cena angle was expected for tonight’s show but John Cena is not scheduled to appear. Talents being advertised include Randy Orton, Rollins, Kane, Ambrose, Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, Erick Rowan and Triple H.

WWE is focusing on the following points for tonight:

* Will we see Team Cena truly begin to form this week?

* Will Big Show get some giant-sized payback?

* Is Nikki Bella ready to reclaim the Divas Title?

* How will Bray Wyatt terrorize his “deranged reflection”?

* What feast awaits Ryback?

Former UFC Fighter Interested In WWE Career After Ordering WWE Network Subscription

0

Former UFC star Matt Riddle, who last fought for the company in 2013, says he’s interested in giving pro wrestling a shot after recently purchasing a WWE Network subscription.

Riddle told Dave Meltzer of MMAFighting.com:

“I did it for a while. It wasn’t something I wanted to do, it was something I was good at. They wanted me to fight at 170 or 185 pounds. When I get below 190, my kidneys hurt, my lower back hurts, it’s not safe for my body. I don’t get joy out of suffering, especially if I don’t get paid. I’m no longer 22, I don’t care about tough man contests. This has been my goal my entire life. I looked in the mirror four months ago. I was tired of cutting weight, getting sick, I got the (WWE) network for $9.99 and started reliving the Attitude Era and got that spark that I’ve been missing since I was 20. I knew I could make money doing that. I saw the guys I grew up watching, I’m watching the new guys and these guys aren’t bigger than me, I’m a little more ripped than they are, I’m a cage fighter so I have skills, so maybe this is my shot to make it. If worst comes to worst, they say ‘No.’ I’m going to keep trying. I’ve proven people wrong in the past.”

“I don’t want to come off bad, but I have a lot of potential at this. I’m a world-class athlete and what I always wanted to do was be a pro wrestler. It was always my passion. I’m not in the UFC anymore so I’m not getting paid decent money to fight, so I wanted to do something I love. I’d rather wrestle professionally and have fun than fight for no reason at all.”

– After giving the US indie scene a chance, former WWE Superstar Mason Ryan has returned home to Wales for the first time in several years. Mason has been working for various Welch promotion in the past week and has more dates scheduled this month.

– Despite Daniel Bryan’s appearance at the San Francisco Giants World Series parade getting mainstream attention, we may not see a recap video on RAW this week. Many people at the parade knew who Bryan was and were doing the “yes!” chants.

– As noted, Randy Orton will begin filming WWE Studios’ The Condemned 2 on November 11th. WWE may be doing an injury angle this week or next week to write Orton off TV for a few weeks. He’s expected to be a part of the Team Cena vs. Team Authority match at Survivor Series.

Backstage News On Cesaro And His Recent Comments About Randy Orton Vs. John Cena

0

There has been some speculation that Cesaro was booked to lose two straight falls against Dolph Ziggler at WWE Hell In a Cell due to comments he made on Randy Orton and John Cena in the week leading up to the pay-per-view. For those who missed it, Cesaro told The Liverpool Echo:

“Exactly. It is a new era of guys, it’s a new generation, and it’s a lot of fun to watch that because there are fresh match-ups. I mean I’m sick of seeing John Cena against Randy Orton for the 500th time. It’s great that we have some new, young guys that can come out and provide absolutely great match-ups and for the fans there are fresh, exciting matches and things to watch.”

A WWE source says Cesaro was not being punished for those comments in the match against Ziggler or in the Trick or Street beatdown he took from Dean Ambrose on SmackDown. Cesaro reportedly did not get heat for those comments and there was a feeling backstage that his comments were taken out of context.
