WWE Network Not Airing Main Event Episodes For Several More Months?

0

Source: F4WOnline

It appears WWE Main Event will be off the WWE Network for several months, according to sources in WWE. We noted that Main Event wouldn’t be airing next week due to a contract issue between WWE and Sky Sports that prevents Main Event from being shown on the WWE Network in the UK. That issue reportedly will not be resolved any time soon.

The current time frame for Main Event’s return to the WWE Network is late summer or early fall as geoblocking could be put into place by then so Main Event could be blocked in the UK.

WWE will continue to tape Main Event each week due to international broadcast commitments. It will also still be available on Hulu in the United States.

Newsradio 106.7 in Atlanta reports that the simple assault charges against Heath Miller, a.k.a. Heath Slater, have been dropped because the statute of limitation had expired.

A misdemeanor arrest warrant was issued in early December for Miller for an alleged assault incident at a hotel following a WrestleMania after-party in 2011. Miller has not appeared on WWE television since the warrant was issued.

Big Update On If Jim Ross Is Negotiating With Lucha Underground, More

0

I spoke with WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross this afternoon to discuss his upcoming shows during Royal Rumble weekend in Philadelphia, PA and Sayreville, NJ. During the interview, which will be published here on WrestlingINC.com next week, we discussed his shows, who should win The Royal Rumble, Randy Savage in the WWE Hall of Fame and a lot more. I also asked him about the rumors about him negotiating with Lucha Underground.

“I haven’t had any conversations with Lucha Underground,” Ross said. “The last person I spoke with at Lucha Underground was Matt Striker at WrestleKingdom 9 [earlier this month], and Matt Striker doesn’t hire talent. I haven’t had one phone call, text, fax, whatever with Lucha Underground.”

JR admitted that he is open to calling more wrestling shows if the timing and price are right. He also noted that while he hasn’t had any discussions with Lucha Underground, he doesn’t know if his name has come up with company executives.

“What Lucha Underground discusses internally, I’m not privy to that. I haven’t had a conversation with anyone there other than [Lucha Underground Co-Executive Producer] Chris DeJoseph on my podcast – which you can listen to soon – and Matt Striker, that’s it. So I don’t know what sort of discussions are ongoing internally at Lucha Underground. We’re sitting here talking and I can tell you that as of right now, my representative has had no conversations with Lucha Underground, and I have had less in that respect.

“It would take a very special engagement for me to re-engage with a weekly TV show. I’ve got so many projects that I really enjoy doing. I’m trying to finish my autobiography, which is a major undertaking. I’m doing these one man shows which I dearly love doing. My podcast is growing, which last year was voted one of the top three podcasts of the year. So all I’m thinking about right now is Sayreville and Philly.”

Tickets for both of JR’s shows during Royal Rumble weekend are available at AXS.com. A quick note about Sunday afternoon’s show in Philadelphia, the venue has been changed to Underground Arts. The show still starts at 1pm with the meet and greet:

Daniel Bryan Reveals Day He Was Cleared, Talks His Royal Rumble Appearance Not Being A Surprise

0

Source: The Miami Herald

Scott Fishman of The Miami Herald recently interviewed Daniel Bryan, who was promoting his return to in-ring action on tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown. Below are a couple of highlights:
When he was cleared:

“The day I announced I was coming back for the Royal Rumble is actually the day I got cleared to wrestle. I started healing in November, as far as thinking, ‘Wait a second. Things are starting to turn around for the better.’ It was that December episode of Raw I went on to say I was finally able to be cleared by WWE where they said, ‘You’re ready to go.'”

His Royal Rumble appearance being advertised ahead of time:

“Had I just come out during the Royal Rumble, I don’t know if it would be as impactful. To me it’s more impactful to give fans something to look forward to. If it happened at the Royal Rumble and that night, it would have been great. Though I like the idea of building toward something, so I’m happy with the way we’ve done it.”

Bryan also discussed WrestleMania XXX, WWE officials being concerned with some of his high risk moves, asking to wrestle on tonight’s SmackDown and more.

Goldberg Says He Would Seriously Consider One More Match, Talks CM Punk In The UFC

0

Source: The Miami Herald

Scott Fishman of The Miami Herald has an interview with Goldberg, who was promoting his appearance this weekend at the Magic City Comic Con in Miami, FL. Below are some highlights:

If he would wrestle again:

“I could still do it… I’m probably in the best shape of my life right now… I made the statement that I would never consider wrestling over the age of 40 when I was over 40 years old. Here I am two clicks away from the big one (50). Having children changes your outlook 100 percent of your life. If it came to fruition, I would seriously consider it. With that said, it’s not going to stop my heart that I didn’t attain that by any stretch of the imagination.”

CM Punk signing with the UFC:

“It’s thinking outside the box… There are the guys who have worked their asses off on the independents and mixed martial arts organizations and get to the UFC waiting for that next big opportunity. Then here comes a guy with a zero-and-zero record and suddenly he gets the spotlight. The analogy I can give is that it was like me when I got into the wrestling business. I didn’t ‘pay my dues’ to get into the wrestling business.

“…He is in a great training camp. From what I’ve read, CM Punk is like a sponge when it comes to training. So as long as he can digest what is thrown at him, he is in a great camp. Anthony Pettis is a superstar in mixed martial arts right now. I think [Duke] Roufus was an underachiever in the kick boxing world, and he worked his ass off to obtain the level he attained as a coach. I believe he can see himself a little bit in CM Punk and work slowly with him.”

Goldberg also discussed Sting joining WWE, Randy Savage being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, more on Punk signing with the UFC and more. You can read the full interview over at the Miami Herald website.

More On WWE SummerSlam Moving To A New Location

0

Source: NJ.com

The New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority board officially approved a plan today that would “temporarily” close down the Izod Center in East Rutherford, NJ, which was the site for the 2015 edition of SummerSlam until yesterday. According to NJ.com, the arena had been losing in excess of $7 million per year and will shut down for at least two years.

NJ.com also reported that the few remaining events on the arena’s schedule would be moved to the Prudential Center in Newark. Many local state Legislature and union members opposed the shutdown, with one union President stating that SummerSlam and other major events scheduled for this summer at the arena will skip the state and not move to the Prudential Center.

WWE has yet to officially announce where SummerSlam will be held this year. WWE released a statement last night noting that the company “is currently looking at alternatives,” and is confident that they will find “an equivalent, if not better, option for Summerslam.”

WWE also has a live event scheduled at the Izod Center on Saturday, January 24th.
