Fighting Spirit Review: Dragon Gate “Open the New Year Gate” on 1/16/15

0

Date:  January 16th, 2015
Location:  Tokyo Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan
Announced Attendance:  1,850

I can never really keep up with Dragon Gate storylines.  They have lots of factions and wrestlers change factions on a regular basis, so unless you really pay attention it is hard to keep track of.  Because of this I tend to just enjoy DG for what it is but I don’t hurt my brain too much trying to figure out who is feuding with whom.  This event has a tournament to find the next contender for the Open the Dragon Gate Championship.  Here is the full card:

– Ryo “Jimmy” Saito, Genki Horiguchi H.A.Gee.Mee!!, and Jimmy Kagetora vs. Super Shisa, Mr. High Tension Kotoka, and Yuga Hayashi
– Jimmy Kanda and Mr. Que Que Naoki Tanizaki Toyonaka Dolphin vs. Mondai Ryu and Tominaga
– Open the Dream Gate Contendership Tournament: Big R Shimizu vs. Don Fujii
– Open the Dream Gate Contendership Tournament : Kenichiro Arai vs. Jimmy Susumu
– BxB Hulk, Masaaki Mochizuki, and Dragon Kid vs. Shingo Takagi, Akira Tozawa, and Shachihoko BOY
– CIMA, YAMATO, Gamma, Cyber Kong, and K-ness vs. T-Hawk, Eita, U-T, and Yosuke Santa Maria
– CIMA, YAMATO, Gamma, Cyber Kong, Dr. Muscle, and K-ness vs. T-Hawk, Eita, U-T, Yosuke Santa Maria, Mr. High Tension Kotoka, and Yuga Hayashi
– Open the Dream Gate Contendership Tournament: Big R Shimizu vs. Jimmy Susumu

Let’s get started!

Ryo “Jimmy” Saito, Genki Horiguchi H.A.Gee.Mee!!, and Jimmy Kagetora vs. Super Shisa, Mr. High Tension Kotoka, and Yuga Hayashi
Horiguchi and Shisa start off and Shisa slaps him in the Mexican Surfboard.  Kotoka and Kagetora run in but Kotoka dropkicks Kagetora back out.  Hayashi and Saito are next, boot by Hayashi and he hits an elbow, but Kagetora comes off the top with a missile dropkick.  Horiguchi comes in and pounds on Hayashi, then Saito hits a double stomp.  Horiguchi snapmares Hayashi and Kagetora hits a slingshot elbow drop.  Hayashi is assaulted in the corner, Hayashi chops Horiguchi but Kagetora kicks him from the apron.  Kotoka comes in to help but he is tossed out of the ring.  Kagetora goes off the ropes but Hayashi dropkicks him and tags in Shisa.  Horiguchi elbows Shisa but Shisa dropkicks him out of the ring.  Saito comes in but Shisa sails out of the ring with a tope suicida.  Kotoka and Saito square off and Kotoka hits a vertical suplex.  German suplex by Saito, kick by Kagetora and Horiguchi hits a tornado DDT. Brainbuster by Kagetora and he gets a two.  Judo throw by Hayashi and he applies a cross armbreaker to Kagetora, then Saito comes off the top with a diving body press.  Kotoka hits a swandive missile dropkick on him followed by a tope suicida.  Shisa comes in and he trades pin attempts with Kagetora.  Kagenui by Kagetora and he picks up the three count, winning the match for his team.   Fast paced, the ending was just sudden though as Shisa wasn’t really hurt, he just got ‘caught’.  But a flash pin in six man tag matches is logical, too long a setup and someone is going to break it up.  Decent opener for the event.  Score:  5.5

Jimmy Kanda and Mr. Que Que Naoki Tanizaki Toyonaka Dolphin vs. Mondai Ryu and Tominaga
They brawl to start things off and Tominaga is double teamed in the ring.  Ryu comes in to help and he throws Tanizaki to the mat.  Sliding dropkick by Ryu and he tags in Tominaga.  Tanizaki is double teamed in the corner, lariat by Ryu and Kanda hits a lariat.  Tanizaki gets away and tags in Kanda, flapjack by Kanda to Ryu, he goes to Tominaga but Ryu hits a Tiger Feint Kick.  Tanizaki hits a jumping knee on Tominaga, German suplex by Kanda but it gets a two.  Tombstone by Tanizaki to Tominaga and a cover, but Ryu breaks it up.  Low blow by Tominaga, he goes to hit Kanda with a box but Kanda dropkicks him.  Ryu’s by Kanda and he gets the three count.  A standard quick fast paced match from Dragon Gate, but I love wrestlers in masks (that’s my thing, don’t judge me) so a bonus point for Mondai Ryu.  Score:  6.0

Big R Shimizu vs. Don Fujii
This match is part of the Open the Dream Gate Contendership Tournament.  Fujii throws powder in Shimizu’s face and hits a powerbomb for a two count.  Outside the ring Fujii slams Shimizu on the mat but Shimizu throws him into the post.  Fujii regains the advantage and hits Shimizu with a chair.  Back in the ring, bearhug by Shimizu and he hits a vertical suplex.  Fujii rolls up Shimizu for a quick two count, low blow by Fujii and he gets another one.  Chokeslam by Shimizu, and he picks up the three count.  Quick match, but Shimizu has another match coming up so probably for the best.  They stayed hard at it though which is a plus and both showed a lot of urgency in trying to win.  Score:  6.5

Kenichiro Arai vs. Jimmy Susumu
This match is part of the Open the Dream Gate Contendership Tournament.  Susumu beats Arai to start the match but Arai rakes his back and kicks him in the corner.  Arai works over Susumu’s arm for a bit, he hits an Alabama Slam and drops a knee on Susumu’s arm.  He does it again, but Susumu hits a back breaker.  Lariat by Susumu but Arai gets away and hits a piledriver.  Diving headbutt by Arai but it gets a two count.  Arai goes for the 450 Splash but Susumu moves, he goes for a lariat but Arai applies a crucifix pin for a two.  Arai goes off the ropes but Susumu catches him with the Jumbo Kachi!gatame and he gets the three count to continue on to the final.  The arm work was solid but I didn’t see what the end game was there, and then Susumu won with his quick finisher.  Again, a shorter match since the final is on the same event and not that great.  Score:  4.0

BxB Hulk, Masaaki Mochizuki, and Dragon Kid vs. Shingo Takagi, Akira Tozawa, and Shachihoko BOY
Shachihoko BOY and Mochizuki are the first two in the ring, which doesn’t really matter since any moment wrestlers will just randomly start running in and out.  Strike battle and Takagi hits a swinging headscissors but Mochizuki pulls him out of the ring.  Dragon Kid and Takagi are up next and Dragon Kid hits a swandive hurricanrana.  Hulk and Tozawa are the last pair and Tozawa kicks him out of the ring, Mochizuki comes in and eats a double shoulderblock.  Dragon Kid and Shachihoko BOY are in the ring but Tozawa comes in to help and he stays in the ring to battle Dragon Kid.  Hulk stomps down Tozawa and kicks him in the head.  Mochizuki chops Tozawa in the corner but Tozawa chops him back.  Kick by Mochizuki and he kicks Tozawa in the back before tagging in Dragon Kid.  Handstand kneedrop by Dragon Kid and he tags in Hulk.  Jumping kick by Hulk and he applies a chinlock.  Mochizuki comes back in and assaults Tozawa some more.  Tozawa catches Mochizuki with a big boot and he tags in Takagi, Hulk runs in but Takagi hiptosses him and clotheslines him out of the ring.  Tozawa has recovered, he comes in and dives out onto all his opponents.  He then runs in and does it a second time, then Shachihoko BOY hits an Asai Moonsault.  The beatdown segment means nothing if 15 seconds later Tozawa is running around doing topes .  Back in the ring Hulk kicks Takagi and hits a scissors kick followed by a legsweep, but Takagi gets his knees up for the moonsault.  Swandive missile dropkick by Hulk but Takagi elbows him but Hulk hits a dropkick.  Lariat to the back of the head by Takagi and both Dragon Kid and Shachihoko BOY are tagged in.  High kick by Shachihoko BOY but it gets a two.  Shachihoko BOY goes up top but Dragon Kid avoids the moonsault.  Tozawa comes back and hits a superplex onto Dragon Kid.  Lariat by Takagi to Dragon Kid and Dragon Kid is triple teamed.  Shachihoko BOY goes up top, so does Hulk, Hulk puts Shachihoko BOY on his shoulders and Dragon Kid hits a Frankensteiner off the top of the tower.  Kicks by Mochizuki to Shachihoko BOY, cover, but it’s broken up.  Brainbuster by Mochizuki but it gets two, Hulk comes in and they both kick Shachihoko BOY.  Shachihoko BOY fights back and Takagi runs in to help and everyone takes turns hitting their signature moves.  Shiranui by Shachihoko BOY to Mochizuki but Mochizuki nails him with the Shin Saikyou High Kick for the three count.  They should have just cut the first five minutes, the beat down of Tozawa meant absolutely nothing right after it happened.  Make this a 12 minute exciting people flying around match, I am there, but with that tacked on it was just solid overall even though I loved the last few minutes.  Score:  6.5

CIMA, YAMATO, Gamma, Cyber Kong, and K-ness vs. T-Hawk, Eita, U-T, and Yosuke Santa Maria
There are lots of people in this match and I’m not going to kill myself with the play by play like I usually do.  Lots of brawling!  In the stands, on the floor, with weapons, CIMA and company just being eeeevil.  In the ring T-Hawk is assaulted by all five, then it is U-T’s turn.  We finally become a normal tag match with Gamma assaulting U-T in the ring.  K-ness and CIMA continue wearing down U-T and Gamma spits water on him.  U-T is dumped out of the ring and YAMATO works him over before CIMA rolls U-T back in.  I most feel sorry for U-T, as Kong hits an elbow drop for a two count.  U-T’s teammates aren’t overly helpful.  U-T is blinded and kicked by CIMA, Gamma, and Kong.  They continue on U-T until finally he kicks back K-ness and CIMA and tags in T-Hawk.  T-Hawk hits a double vertical suplex on K-ness and CIMA, Kong comes in with YAMATO but T-Hawk chops them both.  T-Hawk gets leveled by Kong so Eita comes in, YAMATO throws him in the corner, Eita goes for a springboard move but he slips, so YAMATO kicks him.  Eita dropkicks YAMATO and they trade pin attempts.  Gamma runs in and lariats T-Hawk, but Gamma gets isolated in the ring.  T-Hawk chops and elbows Gamma but Kong comes in with a lariat on both of them.  He then lariats Yosuke and U-T as well, then all of MAD BLANKEY stomps on Eita.  K-ness runs in and kicks Eita, then YAMATO hits a brainbuster for two.  Galleria by YAMATO, and he gets the three count.  This was intentionally an unfair match, as it was 5 vs. 4 and the five were better anyway.  It was more just a storyline beatdown, leading up to…..

After the match MAD BLANKEY keeps beating on people, leading to Hayashi and Kotoka running down for the save.  After some chatting they decide to have a new unannounced match, with Hayashi and Kotoka joining the Millenials in their fight.  To make the teams even, Dr. Muscle came down to help MAD BLANKEY, making it six vs. six.

CIMA, YAMATO, Gamma, Cyber Kong, Dr. Muscle, and K-ness vs. T-Hawk, Eita, U-T, Yosuke Santa Maria, Mr. High Tension Kotoka, and Yuga Hayashi
Needless to say this was even more of a brawl then the last match, with 12 wrestlers being in the ring.  Poor Yosuke is abused up in the crowd and has water spit on him.  CIMA and Hayashi get in the ring and CIMA taunts him on the microphone.  Jumping stomp by CIMA and he hits an armdrag.  YAMATO comes in and applies an ankle hold but Hayashi gets to the ropes.  Kotoka comes in with T-Hawk, and both kick YAMATO.  A trio dive comes up next but Kong gets things back in order.  T-Hawk gets Kong on his shoulders and Eita comes off the top with a Code Breaker.  Cover but Dr. Muscle breaks it up.  Eita kicks back Dr. Muscle but Dr. Muscle gets his knees up on the moonsault attempt.  Dr. Muscle goes for a handspring move but his leg gets caught on the ropes which I don’t think was intentional but was hilarious.  Eita drops Dr. Muscle but K-ness runs in to help.  Leg lariat by Yosuke but things break down again. Gamma is triple teamed until T-Hawk hits a powerbomb but CIMA breaks it up.  Kotoka runs around with Gamma but Kong and YAMATO run in and suddenly it is 6 vs. 1.  Lariat by Kong and he hits a diving elbow drop for a two count as Kotoka gets a shoulder up.  Kong picks up Kotoka and slams him, cover, but it is broken up by everyone.  Kotoka is again attacked by everyone in the corner, but the tides turn and suddenly it is CIMA getting attacked over and over and over by his opponents in the corner.  CIMA goes off the ropes but Dr. Muscle hits him from the apron and then throws powder in his face!  Traitor!  Kotoka rolls up CIMA and he gets a three count!  WTF Dr. Muscle.  But double swerve, as Dr. Muscle unmasks and it’s Kzy!  Both teams jaw in the ring but there is no further physical violence.   I am scoring these together as it was a long match, an impromptu rematch with no wrestlers inserted, a swerve, then another swerve.  Overall it was a lot fun, loved the quickness and insanity.  These types of matches should be like these, forget tag rules, just chaos, and the swerves were done well.  I mean I don’t like when a wrestler is attacking people one minute then joining them the next as Dr. Muscle did, but what can ya do.  Fun stuff from Dragon Gate all the way around.  Score:  8.0

Big R Shimizu vs. Jimmy Susumu
This match is the Final in the Open the Dream Gate Contendership Tournament.   Shimizu stomps on Susumu until Susumu bails out of the ring.  Shimizu goes out after him but Susumu rams him into the post.  They get back in the ring and Susumu works on Shimizu’s arm.  Fallaway slam by Shimizu and he applies a camel clutch.  Back up they trade chops and Shimizu hits an Oklahoma Slam for two.  Susumu elbows Shimizu off but Shimizu gets Susumu on his shoulders, Susumu gets away and suplexes Shimizu.  Lariat by Susumu but Shimizu hits a Samoan Drop.  Body avalanche by Shimizu and he hits a shoulderblock for two.  DDT by Susumu but Shimizu hits a chokebomb.  Elevated crab hold by Shimizu and he hits a powerbomb.  Lariat by Susumu and he hits another one.  Avalanche throw by Susumu, Shimizu goes for a chokeslam but Susumu lariats him in the back of the head.  Monster chokeslam by Shimizu and they trade elbows.  Waistlock by Shimizu and he hits a German suplex.  Susumu goes off the ropes and hits a lariat followed by another one but Shimizu is still up.  Finally Susumu knocks Shimizu down and he gets a two count cover.  Jumbo Kachi!gatame by Susumu, and he gets the three count!  Shimizu just seemed like the better wrestler here, Susumu didn’t do a lot of damage before he picked up the win and he had the tougher previous match as well.  Just seemed like Shimizu should have been worn down more.  The action itself was fine, Shimizu has some really good power moves, the structure just felt off and took me a bit out of it.  Score:  6.0

Final Thoughts:
There was definitely some good stuff here.  The nine man match into the twelve man match was great, not just from an in-ring perspective but from a storyline perspective as well (even for someone that doesn’t follow the promotion).  Most of the other matches were at least solid, with only a couple matches that were skippable.  Overall an entertaining show.

TNA Announcer Says Vince McMahon ‘Doesn’t Get It Anymore,’ Talks ‘Sports Entertainment’

0

Former WWE announcer Josh Mathews appeared on the latest episode of the Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast, which you can listen to here. During the interview, Mathews talked about being impressed with the Dixie Carter table storyline, leaving WWE, signing with TNA and more.

Mathews also discussed still having bad habits from his WWE run, like having a hard time calling a belt a belt and not using the term “wrestling.” He said that he doesn’t think that “wrestler” is a dirty word, but he calls them “athletes” and not “superstars” because “that’s f–king lame as sh-t.” He also talked about Vince McMahon doubling down on the term “sports entertainment” during Steve Austin’s podcast last year.

“I just look at it as someone who doesn’t get it anymore, and who has lost so much touch with what his product is. [He] didn’t like anything else that was going on so he literally created his own universe,” Mathews said. “I mean, that’s what they called it the ‘Universe,’ because he created it and he lives in that bubble.”

Detailed WWE At Arnold Festival Coverage: NXT Matches, Live Tryouts, Jason Albert, Surprises

0

Day 1 of the WWE Experience at the Arnold Sports Festival is coming to a close, and the company certainly delivered. Their first event ran well over eight hours and had thousands of people stop by NXT’s oversized boot. At any given time there were well over a thousand people watching along, and it was easily the biggest attraction of the expo.

Corey Graves, JoJo Offerman and Greg Hamilton were hosting the event, which went on all day. These three were out there sporadically for hours asking questions, conducting interviews, interacting with the fans and pumping up the crowd. All three did an exceptional job, with Greg Hamilton eager to get the crowd involved. Corey Graves is adapting to his new role a little bit better with every segment.

The three did a segment on the fly which saw them go around the setup and ask fans for impersonations of WWE legends. A masterful Howard Finkel impersonation easily stole the show.

Matches

There were several matches on the show, with several people pulling double duty. In Colin Cassady’s case, he pulled triple duty as he also did two hours of autograph signings as well. Full results are below:

Colin Cassady (w/ Enzo Amore) defeated Buddy Murphy via pinfall

The crowd was hot for this match, as Enzo and Cass are over everywhere. It also didn’t hurt that this was the first match of the morning, and people got there as soon as the doors opened and started waiting at ringside.

Baron Corbin defeated Tyler Breeze

It’s obvious WWE is putting Corbin in longer matches on house shows to help get him experience, and it’s working. He’s showing improvements with each match he’s working on the road, and was working from underneath for almost all of this match.

Sasha Banks defeated Alexa Bliss

Bliss got an awesome reaction as she’s a hometown girl and competed at the Arnold Classic previously. Banks had won the crowd over by the end of the match, and looked really impressive in the ring.

Dana Brooke defeated Bayley

This one was a shocker to people in attendance, as almost everyone expected Bayley to go over. Dana Brooke is also another Arnold Classic competitor, and was recognized by many in the crowd for it.

Bayley had her full entrance brought with her and got one of the best reactions of the day. She was over with everyone, not just the kid demographic.

Adrian Neville defeated Kalisto

This match was exceptional. Kalisto looked as good as I’ve ever seen him, and landed an awesome handstand into a head scissors out of an Irish whip reversal. Neville was over as you would expect and busted out the Red Arrow for the match. He worked heel for a good portion of the match after Kalisto got over with the crowd, but they shook hands after the match.

Kevin Owens defeats Finn Balor

Well, this was awesome. Kevin Owens comes out and cuts an absolutely hilarious promo saying he could win every competition at the Arnold Sports Festival, including the bikini competitions. He makes an open challenge and Finn Balor answers it to an awesome reaction. They have a fantastic match, as is tradition. After Owens wins with a powerbomb, he cuts another hilarious promo saying he’s mad that Balor came out ripped with his shirt off. He forces Corey Graves to look him in the eye and say “Kevin Owens, I want you to take your shirt off.” Owens goes to do it but says the crowd didn’t pay enough to see it. This was gold.

Charlotte defeats Carmella

This match was pretty much one long headlock spot, but the crowd was in to both girls. Charlotte was calling the match, and won with a bridged Figure Four. This, along with the Owens/Balor match were the only two in the second set of live matches.

Baron Corbin defeated Buddy Murphy

This kicked of the third set of live matches, as things started to get a tad off of the WWE’s planned schedule. Another match to get Corbin some work in the ring, and I said earlier.

Colin Cassady (w/ Enzo Amore) defeated Simon Gotch

Aiden English wasn’t with Gotch, as he was signing autographs at the time, but Enzo was a riot in this match. Enzo and Cass had the entire crowd hanging with every word, so their schtick isn’t exclusive to Full Sail University. Big Cass won with an elbow drop.

Hideo Itami defeated Tyler Breeze

This match went 15-20 minutes, and Itami’s work comes across much better in person than it does on TV (not that it’s bad on TV). The majority of the match was drowned out by loud music, but the crowd was still giving heavy Itami chants to Hideo.

Sasha Banks defeated Charlotte

Another 15-20 minute match, as these two went at it. Charlotte could do jumping jacks in the ring and would find a way to make it look impressive and it would get over in front of this crowd. As quickly as Charlotte caught on, Sasha Banks is as well. Charlotte tapped out, which was unusual to see.

Q&A’s

There were several Q&A’s scheduled throughout the afternoon. Guests included Mark Henry, William Regal, Triple H, Hulk Hogan and NXT performers who had previously competed at the Arnold Classic. The fan questions were heavily screened, and were really softball questions. Here are some highlights:

* Mark Henry said that he considers Cesaro to be the strongest pound-for-pound superstar in the WWE today, and wants to see Owen Hart in the Hall of Fame more than anyone else.

* William Regal said his selection for a Hall of Famer would be a collection of British wrestlers who contributed to the business, but weren’t appreciated nearly enough.

* Alexa Bliss, Dana Brooke and Braun Stowman all spoke about their experiences in competing at the Arnold Sports Festival.

* Hulk Hogan appeared unadvertised with Jimmy Hart. He immediately drew a crowd, and they ran a video package in honor of him.

* Hogan said that he would most like to take on John Cena at WrestleMania, and was going to take his boots with him this year just in case. Hogan also said Kevin Owens would be a good opponent and put over the NXT Title big time.

* Hulk Hogan claimed Andre The Giant was “between 500 to 700 pounds.” I am between 0 and 200.

* Triple H’s music hits in the middle of Hogan’s Q&A, and the crowd was thrilled to see him. He talked about his hopes and plans for NXT, and says Hogan would have made a good member of DX.

* Hulk Hogan says that since WWE has Vince McMahon, NXT needs a manipulative, cunning, evil, backstabbing person to run things, while looking at Triple H. He then says “Jimmy Hart would be good for that!”

* Hulk Hogan puts over Triple H, saying that he has a great vision for NXT, and believes he has a mind for the future.

Surprises

There were three big Hall of Famers who weren’t advertised for today who showed up, and were huge additions to an already busy show. Hulk Hogan came over from his booth to do the aforementioned Q&A, but Ric Flair was also around to film a segment with his daughter Charlotte. Arnold Schwarzenegger himself appeared to film an interview segment with Triple H for the WWE Network.

Familiar Faces

There were several other WWE personalities present that weren’t on the show. Summer Rae and Emma were both all over the place taking pictures. Neither are scheduled for Q&A’s or autograph signings, so it was surprising to see them still around. Former WWE diva Kaitlyn was also there, and reunited with the aforementioned Emma & Summer. Kaitlyn was in incredible shape and promoting her “Celestial Bodiez” products.

Referee Tim White was there and working with the WWE at their autograph lines. White looked extremely happy, and was even happier to talk to fans. He posed for several pictures and seemed to really enjoy being there and recognized. WWE announcer Michael Cole was also backstage, but didn’t appear in any official capacity for the show.

Tryouts

This was particulary interesting, because it was Matt Bloom’s (A-Train, Tensai, Jason Albert) first work as the new NXT head trainer. There was one guy in the crowd (he wouldn’t have survived the tryout) flipping out because they weren’t “open tryouts.” For the record, open tryouts were never advertised, live tryouts were.

There were two live tryout sessions Saturday, and featured more than a dozen hopefuls from throughout the midwest. The tryouts mainly consisted of conditioning drills, running the ropes, rolls, bumps and things of that nature. This was being touted as NXT’s first live tryouts ever.

Robbie Brookside, Carmella, Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy all helped Matt Bloom conduct the sessions. Brookside was very vocal in hustling the hopefuls up, and Bloom seemed really encouraging and helpful during the drills. This was a hot topic among the crowd after DeMott’s departure this week.

Autograph Lines

One of the huge attractions Saturday were the autograph/picture lines. Anywhere between 2-4 NXT talents would be scheduled for two hour blocks throughout the day, a surely tedious task. Everyone there was on their A game, with some going above and beyond. Despite working as a heel, Sasha Banks was particularly popular with kids, as they were with her as well.

Bayley, Sami Zayn, Dana Brooke and Alexa Bliss had one of the longest lines of the entire expo, likely exceeding well over 400-500 during their time. Sami Zayn was as personable to fans as he seems on TV, and Bayley looked to really be enjoying herself. Anytime a fan would cross her she’d high five them and offer a hug with a huge smile on their face. Either she’s really that happy, or she had an outstanding dedication to her gimmick.

Other Notes

NXT brought a full set along with them to Ohio, including a video board, and were filming the entire show from start to finish. The only complaints during the show from people is that the ring needed raised and the lights lowered, as some in the stands had issues seeing, but those were minor qualms.

This is just day one of NXT at the Arnold Sports Festival, and Wrestling Inc will have your full, exclusive coverage all weekend!

Ronda Rousey Won’t Fight A Man, Ben Henderson Wants A Fight, MMA At Arnold Sports Fest

0

Ronda Rousey shut down all of the talk of her fighting a man this week, as she talked to Doug Gottlieb about the situation on during her victory media tour.

“It’s not a reality,” Rousey said. “They’re not gonna do anything like that. Fights are chaotic. Anything can happen. And there’s no setting in which we should condone a man hitting a woman. I really just don’t think that any athletic commission on Earth would ever condone something like that,” Rousey said. “Fights are going to go both ways. You’re going to see both people hitting each other. I don’t think we should celebrate a man hitting a woman in any kind of setting.”

Gottlieb attempted to goad her into a different answer, but Rousey didn’t bite.

– Ben Henderson is at it again, trying to score a last minute fight at UFC Fight Night 62 against Erick Silva. Silva’s opponent Ben Saunders was pulled due to injury. UFC Fight Night 62 is under two weeks away.

Henderson made his 170 pound debut in the UFC just three weeks ago with a short notice win over Brandon Thatch.

– In addition to the WWE Experience, there is a huge MMA presence at the Arnold Sports Festival. Andrei Arlovski, Jon Jones, Felice Herrig, Randy Couture, Chris Weidman, Dan Henderson, Diego Sanchez, Forrest Griffin, Todd Duffee and Ovince St. Preux are all at the event.

In former years, UFC and Strikeforce would often try to capitalize on the Arnold Classic by also booking an MMA event. With no major MMA presence in town, there have been amateur shows promoted in recent years.

Independent Wrestler Tells Gross Bill DeMott Story Involving Zack Ryder And Female Wrestler

0

In case you haven’t had your fill of Bill DeMott stories, here’s another. In the video above, independent wrestler Hannibal tells a story about DeMott from WWE’s Deep South Wrestling developmental territory, where DeMott was the head trainer.

DeMott had Luke Gallows (Drew Hackinson, Festus, Fake Kane) get totally naked in the ring for a long period of time while giving alternate naked stinkfaces to both Zack Ryder and female wrestler Melissa Coates while DeMott held jelly doughnuts over their faces. The talent had agreed to do this with the encouragement of some of the other talent to get out of regular training that day.

Deep South Wrestling was shut down by WWE only a few months later.

Tommy Dreamer On Fans Illegally Streaming Events, He’s Hired A Company To Go After Websites

0

Tommy Dreamer wrote the following on his Facebook yesterday:

I have to post something that’s been eating away at me since Houe of Hardcore 7. It was my 1st IPPV. It was my most successful showing of my brand of what I feel professional wrestling is all about. I couldn’t have been happier with how the show came across. Most IPPVS have delays or lost feeds or audio problems. No negative feedback.

A fan told me about an illegal streaming server show MY IPPV. I actually contacted the site they said they are a Third party hosting site it is not illegal in their country China so go after the the Daily Motion YouTube and other sites that are showing it & to go F*CK off. Well that put me on a warpath. I know that some countries have no laws with regards to the internet. So if you live in those countries you have immunity from my rage. Anyway I kept on monitoring how many views of my show & it just got me madder & sadder everyday. So I took action . Hired a firm that goes after these people & here is the info. 1.I can do nothing to the actual people who own the site. However I was able to get the site shut down.

Here is the bigger news those scumbags give up the people that ordered them. Email addresses & other info. They also sell that info. To other spam sites. The revenge news for me was most people would get a virus or expose their computer. Remember no laws so when that happens or they take your info you are F*CKED. The end of the day it was 66 thousand illegal downloads if you do the math 66,000 X$15 equals $990,000.

That changes my life. That changes the landscape of the wrestling business. I have a huge long range plan for wrestlers & wrestling fans. With that money it happens and that was just on 1 torrent site. I understand economically at times its hard to come up w/ $15. One time I wanted to watch the Royal Rumble my dad said I ain’t paying I got 4 of my friends they all kicked in $10 and we had a great time. For the people that support me.I love you so much. For the people that watched my show illegally thanks for the interest I’m honored that 66 thousand of you did. I give you a pass.

I have hired a company to go after these people & sites & know they give you up. This company works for a cut so they are ruthless & send your info to other companies if they want to go after you on other movies or PPV events you may have illegally viewed. When you watch a movie or DVD plays & they have those piracy isn’t a victimless crime advertisements and you think of those BIG companies like WWE UFC SONY Universal DONT CARE. Well I’m a wrestling fan I have always considered us family so here is a picture of victims who suffer for it. Thanks for the support I love you guys. Looking forward to a great show on Saturday. Please share this & spread the word.

TNA Impact Wrestling 3/6/15
