Angelico vs. Son of Havoc (w/ Ivelisse)

Havoc clotheslines Angelico and misses a dive, but recovers and beats Angelico down anyway. Havoc follows up with a curb stomp, but it only gets two. Angelico fights back with a big knee, but only gets two.

Havoc gets kicked to the outside of the ring and Angelico lands a flip dive over the top rope. Back in the ring Havoc gains the advantage with a kick and standing star press, but only gets a two count. A big backbreaker also gets two.

Ivelisse distracts Angelico, which allows Havoc to hit a big double foot stomp and another standing star press, but Angelico kicks out. Angelico goes for Fall of the Angel, but Havoc reverses it into a huracanrana.

Havoc goes to the top rope but gets kicked, allowing Angelico to follow him up. Havoc crotches Angelico, but grabs a mic. He says he knows why he’s been losing. He dumps Ivelisse and hits a Shooting Star Press for his win.

Winner: Son of Havoc via pinfall (Shooting Star Press)

After the match Angelico gazes at Ivelisse, but gets knocked out with a kick.

– Hernandez is backstage with Dario Cueto, signing a contract with Lucha Underground. He dismissively shakes Cueto’s hand.

AAA World Championship
Bullrope Match
Alberto El Patron (c) vs. Texano

Texano takes advantage early by attacking AEP, but ends up getting DDT’d and whipped with the rope. AEP follows up with a big superplex and a clothesline. He then beats Texano with a cowbell. AEP can’t get the three count as Texano kicks out.

Texano runs El Patron into a chair wedged between the ropes, but can’t put him away. Patron fights back and gets Texano to the top rope, but gets powerbombed off the top through the table. El Patron kicks out! El Patron locks on the Armbar in the ropes and Texano taps!

Winner: Alberto El Patron via submission (Rope hung armbar) to retain the AAA World Championship

– Prince Puma is backstage getting boxing training from Konnan when Hernandez shows up. He and Puma fist bump, but Puma looks unsure.

Lucha Underground Championship
Boyle Heights Street Fight
Prince Puma (c)(w/ Konnan) vs. Cage

Dario Cueto introduces the new championship title before the match, and it’s a work of art.

Puma comes out aggressive, but quickly gets powerbombed into the ring post by Cage. Hernandez is seen sitting in the front row as Cage slams Puma into the barrier and grabs a chair. Puma turns the tides and hits a Van Daminator on Cage.

Puma goes outside, gets a trash can lid and beats the breaks off of Cage with it. The crowd wants tables, so Prince Puma obliges and pulls one out. Cage comes around the ring and blasts Puma with a trash can lid.

Back in the ring Cage hits a Rack into a lungblower, but Puma manages to kick out. Cage goes outside and Puma hits an awesome Shooting Star Press from the top rope to a standing Cage! Puma lays Cage on the table and lands a springboard 450. That was completely insane.

Puma rolls Cage in the ring, but Cage kicks out at two. Outside the ring, Cage puts a chair around Cage’s neck and runs him into the ring post, then attacks Konnan.

The two get back in the ring and Puma gains the advantage yet again. He misses a big 630 and Cage scores with a big discus clothesline for two. He looks like he has Puma finished with Weapon X, but throws mounted punches instead of pinning Puma. He follows up with a double powerbomb on to the trash can.

Cage calls out Hernandez and takes a swing at him, but Konnan is behind him and clocks Cage with the cane. Puma gets back up to the top rope, hits the 630 and wins.

Winner: Prince Puma via pinfall (630) to retain the Lucha Underground World Championship

Jonathan Coachman Talks Brock Lesnar’s Attitude, Tough Times Ahead For Roman Reigns, More

0

ESPN’s Jonathan Coachman joined Doug Mortman and Dave Lagreca on Busted Open. You can hear Busted Open on SiriusXM 92 and on the SiriusXM app. Also go to BustedOpenNation.com for all the details.

On Brock’s decision to retire from MMA and resign with WWE:

“I wasn’t because I know how difficult it was for him the way it ended in UFC and the toll the illness put on his body. I spoke to him about a year and a half ago and it was very evident that he was really happy to be back in the WWE. I’ve spoken to both UFC and WWE guys and they each say that they wouldn’t be able to do the other. To only do UFC twice a year, and possibly have the disappointment if his body failed again, it would be too much for Brock to handle psychologically and probably physically as well.”

On Brock’s decision to use ESPN as his forum:

“I thought it was cool that he chose SportsCenter to make his decision and I also thought it was cool that ESPN decided to do that. We’re definitely heading in the right direction. ESPN is my home but my love for WWE hasn’t gone away. To be able to do both for at least one day and hopefully more in the future, it was fantastic. ESPN contacted me to be an analyst and ask Brock a couple of questions based off his decision. I didn’t know what he was going to do until he actually announced it. We were coming up with those questions on the spot so it was a surprise to everybody.”

On Brock’s attitude change and having fun in the wrestling ring:

“When you first start out in the business, you’re worried about how to make the most money. You’re working 28-30 days a month and you realize while you’re making all this money, you’re killing your body, you can’t get to the gym, can’t eat right. All these factors stop it from becoming fun. During my last few years it stopped being fun for me. So when you step away for a while and then come back, you gain a different perspective and it becomes fun again. Brock’s in his mid to late 30’s now so his perspective is different from when he first came out as an NCAA champion and needed to show the rest of the world how tough he was. He doesn’t need to do that anymore so he’s going to have more fun than he ever had before.”

On whether or not there’s going to be any resentment towards Brock from the rest of the roster that is there throughout the entire year:

“There has always been that factor in the locker room when it comes to that type of situation. One of my roles in WWE when I was there was making the young guys understand how the world of WWE works. What I would say to those guys is until you’re a main event guy and people are spending money just to see you, you won’t be treated like a star. Star Power is a real thing and while it doesn’t seem fair, the star does deserve more money and benefits. This is show business. The faster they learn that they need to be able to talk and climb that ladder, the faster they will reach the top and get that treatment as well.”

How tough is it going to be for Roman Reigns with the WrestleMania Crowd?

“It’s going to be really tough on him. Stars have to learn how to connect with the fans and stay connected. It starts with what comes out of your mouth and if you can’t make people believe in you with what you are saying, it doesn’t matter how good you can wrestle. He needs to focus on how to get the fans to get emotional about him and buy into what he is selling them and not worry so much about his match with Lesnar. Lesnar succeeded in that with his interview yesterday and did what Reigns hasn’t been able to do yet. The Rock proved that if you can be a great heel, you can become the biggest babyface in the business.”

Cris Cyborg Signs With UFC, Fight Night 62 Ratings, UFC Fighter Retires

0

Globo had broken news that Invicta FC Featherweight Champion Cris “Cyborg” Justino has signed a contract with the UFC.

Cyborg has been the subject of a much talked about fantasy bout with UFC Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey, but has been inconsistent in her commitment to cut to 135 pounds. Cyborg revealed earlier this year she was up to 175 pounds, a substantial increase over previous year.

Cyborg is currently slated to fight for Invicta in July. No opponent has been set.

– UFC Fight Night 62 ratings are in, and they’re not good. The event managed 617,000 viewers for the underwhelming card, falling way short of every other UFC broadcast in prime time this year.

The low ratings follow a huge string of success for the company, both on pay-per-view and cable. Throughout the first two months of 2015, the promotion did around 2 million PPV buys and reached record ratings numbers on Fox Sports 1.

– Middleweight UFC fighter Nick Catone has retired after missing over a year of action. The veteran of 8 UFC fights cited lingering injuries as his motivation to hang up his gloves. He retires with a 10-4 pro MMA record.

How Long Is Brock Lesnar’s New WWE Contract For?, What He Turned Down From UFC, More

Source: The AP

The Associated Press has an article up with WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar on how he’s done with MMA and has signed a multi-year deal with WWE.

Lesnar confirmed to the AP that his new deal with WWE is for three years. He said WWE increased their financial offer to him at RAW and the whole deal was one he couldn’t refuse. Lesnar said:

“The fighter in me wants to continue, but at this stage in my life, it ain’t just about me anymore. You put your pride to the side. You hug your wife and your kids. I’m a 37-year-old man, and some days I feel like I’m 80, just with all the things I’ve experienced, all the things I’ve done. I feel fortunate about it. It’s like, what else can I do? Why go backward?”

Lesnar said he turned down an offer from UFC worth “10 times” what he was making earlier in his MMA career. UFC Chairman Lorenzo Fertitta also tried to double that deal but Lesnar told him it wasn’t about the money. Lesnar called UFC officials to inform them of the decision as he was pulling into the ESPN studios for his SportsCenter interview.

Lesnar is also looking forward to spending time with his wife and three children. He commented on his career:

“I’m riding the caboose of my sports career. I just barely caught this thing. I’ll see you the next time.”

Stephanie McMahon On Possibly Competing At WrestleMania, Her Daughters Being Divas, Connor

0

Source: The LA Times

The Los Angeles Times has an interview with Stephanie McMahon at this link to promote WrestleMania 31. Below are some highlights:

Connor Michalek is receiving the Warrior Award at the Hall of Fame ceremony later this week. What has Connor meant in your life and has he changed the way you look at things?

Meeting Connor was absolutely a life-changing event for me. I love kids. I’m a mom and have three daughters. They are 8, 6 and 4. Connor was the same age as my oldest daughter. And he was just so full of life and personality and love. And you would never know he was sick from his personality and the way he acted. But you could tell from his physical appearance because he had scars, and he didn’t have any hair. He looked sick, but he certainly didn’t act that way. And Connor just really had this profound impact on me and my husband, and we kept thinking, “What can we do for him? What can we give him to look forward to, to hang on for?” And we came up with the idea to invite him to WrestleMania. And at WrestleMania, his dad said that he didn’t even act sick. That he was the little boy his dad remembered. Connor’s hero, Daniel Bryan, ironically defeated my husband and went on to become WWE world champion that night. Daniel Bryan’s struggle as a character sort of paralleled Connor’s struggles, so Connor identified with him. And after Daniel won the championship, the very first person he went to was Connor, who was in the front row. And we have that moment captured forever as a part of WrestleMania. And Connor was just so strong, so heroic and so courageous that it is only fitting that he be the first recipient of the Warrior Award.

If one of your daughters came up to you and told you she wants to be a WWE Diva, how would you react?

That has already happened! My oldest daughter would love to be a WWE Diva. She actually wrote a book that said, “I want to be a WWE Diva.” We are telling her what we would tell any girl or boy, that school comes first. Get your education and then if you want to pursue becoming a WWE Diva or Superstar, absolutely. But a huge part of it too is your health and your fitness. You have to be sure you are active, eat right and exercise every single day.

You have done a lot in your WWE career but never wrestled at WrestleMania. Don’t you think it’s time you wrestle for the women’s title and call yourself Mrs. WrestleMania?

I would love to wrestle at WrestleMania! And who knows, if the time is ever right and the moment calls for it, it would be a dream come true for me.

Former WWE & UFC Star Talks Wrestlers Fearing Him, His Idea For A Dramatic Exit From WWE, More

0

Former WWE and UFC star Dan “The Beast” Severn” came on the In the Room podcast this past Tuesday, March 24, 2015 with wrestling journalist Brady Hicks and former WCW wrestler The Stro. This episode can be downloaded at both vocnation.com and thebradyhicks.com. Here are some highlights:

On the WWE locker room fearing him:

The first few weeks, as I’m kind of watching things unfold before me, I’m watching the talent greeting each other. And as they’re greeting each other, they either refer to one another by their first names or by their worker names. It’d be “Hey, Steve,” or “Hey, Rock” … But then each time that they’re coming [into] contact with me, it was like “How are you today, Mr. Severn?” It was always Mr. Severn. And I kept thinking … maybe they’re just kind of ribbing on me or whatever … Eventually after a few weeks of this I finally asked one of them one day when they were by themselves … He says, “You scare us. We’re afraid that you’re going to wig out in one of our matches.”

On WWE’s backstage climate:

[It was a] very impressive operation there, but what really struck me after just a few days of being at the different events, I looked at it as a glorified babysitting job for [WWE] … They wanted you to arrive so early, because I think they wanted to find out who was going to turn up missing in action, who was going to turn up under the influence of who knows that … I’m not trying to say something bad about the whole entire roster, but as a broad statement, I would say that this is true.

On the Royal Rumble “controversy”:

[One of the WWE agents] said “We could have you start losing matches.” And I said, “You could ask me to lose a match, but where does it say in my contract that I have to lose to anybody? What if I take your wacky world of fantasy, and I turn it into reality? Which one of your stars stands a snowball’s chance in hell against me?” His eyes just got so big. The Royal Rumble was coming around the corner, and it even crossed my mind, what if I approached Ted Turner [and] Eric Bischoff, and said “Hey guys, I’m going to be in the Royal Rumble. It’s a live pay-per-view … And when it comes time for me to have to exit the ring, [what if] I turn fantasy into reality and I clear the ring … and all I have to do is wait every 90 seconds for [WWE] to send me some fresh meat?”

Plus, The Beast offered his thoughts on Brock Lesnar’s choice to re-sign with WWE, compared the effects on the body of MMA and wrestling, explained his decision to pursue a career in both, and pondered how he would fare in today’s UFC. He also talked about his leverage in WWE (being able to leave for WCW at any time), clashes with WWE creative, hanging with Stu Hart, having Bill Goldberg thank him, people being afraid of him on the street, and emerging from the fighting world with his health and looks.

In the Room airs live, weekly, Tuesday nights at 9 PM ET on the VOC Nation Radio Network. The show is also available via iTunes.
