ECW Hardcore History: Episode 4 – April 27th, 1993

Introduction:
Hello everyone and welcome back to CrazyMax’s own history book of sorts as we review ECW from the very first episode on. Last week we witnessed the crowning of the first ever ECW Television Champion in Jimmy Superfly Snuka. We also saw the feud between Terry Funk and Eddie Gilbert escalate to violence as each men took the opportunity to beat up the other with a steel chair. We also saw the Rockin’ Rebel crack a surfboard over the head of the Sandman to further intensify their feud. I can’t wait to see what we have in store for us this week so lets quit wasting time and get right to the action.

Show Opening:

The show opens up like they normally do with Jay Sulli and Stevie Wonderful standing ring side. Jay Sulli says we have two big time title matches tonight. We have the Sandman defending his ECW Heavyweight title belt against the Rockin’ Rebel. We will also have a ECW tag team title match between the Super Destroyers vs. Larry Winters/Tony Stetson. Salvatore Bellemo is also going to be in action tonight. The Suicide Blondes will also be making their debut tonight here on ECW TV.

Eddie Gilbert interrupts the opening and says he is the guest host this week. He also says he has a big surprise for us. Gilbert says he ran Funk out of town and we will never see him again. Gilbert says he had an I Quit match with Terry Funk and Terry Funk quit in that match. They show footage of Eddie Gilbert making Terry Funk quit. The footage opens with Gilbert throwing Funk head first into the tape. There is an ECW Special Announcement saying that TV will not allow them to air the rest of the footage because of its graphic nature. Tod Gordon states that Eddie Gilbert didn’t run Terry Funk out of the ECW and that we will all hear from Terry Funk on next week’s show.

Backstage Promo: Hunter Q. Robbins & the Super Destroyers

Robbins opens up the promo by calling Winters and Stetson Bart and Homer Simpson. Theres that stupid ass joke again. This guy was brutal. Robbins says that theres no way that Winters and Stetson can beat the Super Destroyers. Therefore, Robbins wants to sweeten the pot by adding in a $500 bonus if Stetson and Winters can win the belts. Hunter asks Winters what that can buy him and he said that could be plastic surgery. Hunter also says it could be a couple of dinners at McDonalds. He said its more money than they have ever seen in their life.

Hunter says that if they want the $500 bucks all they have to do is show up. He also states that they better have their insurance paid up because they are going to need. What a shit promo this was. This guy is horrible and the sooner he leaves the company the better off we will all be.

Match 1: ECW Tag Team Title Match: Super Destroyers (C) vs. Tony Stetson/Larry Winters

Before the match starts the ring announcer announces that Hunter Q. Robbins the third put up $500 on the match because he’s so confident his team won’t lose. The match starts with Destroyer 1 and Larry Winters doing a crisis cross. The Destroyer tries two back body drops but on the second one Winters slams him face first to the mat. Winters then drops a leg drop and goes for the cover but gets a 2 count. Destroyer makes the tag and he comes in charging at Winters but Winters moves out of the way and he goes crashing into the corner. Winters gets him in a roll up and gets a 2 count.

Winters tags in Stetson and they hit the Destroyer with a double hip toss off the ropes. They then drop an ugly ass double elbow drop that looked like trash. The Rockers they are not. Stetson starts to work the arm but the Destroyer rakes the eyes of Stetson. Destroyer #1 gets in and Stetson hits him with 2 quick hip tosses as well. Destroyer gets Stetson in a headlock and they drive into the turnbuckle. Stetson hits two shoulder blocks while in the corner. Stetson then hits a hip toss but the Destroyer gets right up and nails Stetson with a super kick to the face. Destroyer #2 gets back in and he hits Stetson in the midsection.

Destroyer whips Stetson into the ropes and hits him with a big clothesline then drops him with an elbow. We get a lazy pin for a 2 count. Destroyer clubs Tony in the back and then he rams him into the boot of the other Destroyer. They make the tag and the Destroyer comes off the top rope with a double ax handle. Destroyer #1 then goes for a low blow and drops the head butt on Stetson. Super D #2 gets back in and he body slams Stetson to the mat. Super D #2 then picks up Stetson and drives him into the turnbuckle as he starts to choke him out. The other Destroyer comes down and starts choking him out as well. Super D #2 makes the tag and they come in and hits Stetson with a double elbow. Super D #1 goes for the cover and gets a 2 count.

Super D #1 then gets Stetson in a leg lock and he starts working the leg. Winters comes in and breaks up the hold. Super D #2 gets the tag and he comes in and tries to stop Stetson from getting the tag but he couldn’t. Winters then hits Super D #2 with a back drop then a huge knee lift. Winters gets Super D #2 in a figure four leg lock. The other Super Destroyer comes in and hits Winters with the cain. All four men are now in the ring and the Destroyers go for a irish whip but Stetson and Winters reverses it and they go running into each other. Winters and Stetson then hit a drop kick on each Super Destroyer. Winters gets the Super Destroyer in a figure four again but the ref breaks it up. The referee calls the match due to the use of the cain. Your winners by disqualification….Larry Winters and Tony Stetson!

Recap:
This was a decent match but it didn’t go very long. I’m assuming if it went to much longer the Super Destroyers would have been exposed as the garbage wrestlers that they are. There was a lot of sloppiness to this match and it wasn’t very good at all. The ending felt flat as well because the bell never really rang to let the fans know that the match was over. The way they were brawling afterwards made it feel like the match was continuing but it wasn’t. All in all I am pretty sure they have a better match in a couple weeks so I am looking forward to that. As far as this one is concerned, there is nothing to see here.

Match 2: Salvatore Bellomo vs. Glen Osbourne

Before the match even starts Eddie Gilbert comes out and cuts a promo stating that he has a big announcement to make. Gilbert says that history is about to be made tonight. Osbourne interrupts Gilberts promo and he pushes him out of the way. Osbourne pushes him back and Gilbert tells him to leave him alone. He then does the just bring it hand gesture and out walks Jimmy Snuka with the Magnificent Don Muraco.

Muraco says that Snuka is the biggest name in wrestling history. Throw in Muraco and the guidance of Eddie Gilbert…nobody will be able to stop them. Snuka says theres nothing else more to say except TCB….Taking Care of Business. Snuka says what the fans are about to see are things that have never been seen before. Gilbert tells Sulli to tell Funk where he can be found so they can take care of that.

Backstage Promo: The Suicide Blondes

Candido says that everyone out there is looking at him Chris Candido. Candido said that they are at the top of the ECW so they are going to take their proper names and thats Christopher Candido and Jonathan Hotbody. Candido says they will take on anyone in the ECW, whether it be the Super Destroyers or Winters/Stetson it doesn’t matter. Hotbody says that all they have to do is put their name on the bottom line and the Suicide Blondes will take care of them.

Match 3: Suicide Blondes vs. Tommy Cairo/JT Smith

The match starts out with Hotbody and Cairo in the ring. Cairo pushes Hotbody off the ropes and Cairo decks him with a shoulder block. Cairo then hits Hotbody and Candido with some hip tosses. Cairo then decks em both with a right hand. Cairo gets Hotbody in a head lock and he wrenches it in. Candido distracts the ref then JT gets in and distracts the ref again. Candido then comes in and decks Cairo to break the head lock. Candido and Hotbody level Cairo with a double right hand then Candido puts Cairo in a reverse chin lock.

Cairo gets up and pushes Candido into the ropes and Cairo hits him with a shoulder block. Candido gets up and charges at Cairo and he hits him with a hip toss. Hotbody comes in and he gets hit with a hip toss as well. Candido decks Cairo and forces him into the turnbuckle. He then snap mares him out of the buckle and he gets Cairo in a head lock. Candido lets him up and he irish whips Cairo into the ropes and Candido goes for a drop kick but Cairo holds on and Candido misses. Cairo makes the tag to JT Smith.

Smith pushes Hotbody into the corner then Hotbody kicks him in the nuts to get advantage. Hotbody throws JT into the turnbuckle but Cairo lays across the top of the corner and blocks the move for JT. JT hits a couple of rights then a bodyslam on Hotbody. JT is about to irish whip Hotbody into the buckle and Candido was going to try and save him but Cairo pushes Candido into the ring. Candido is sitting on the mat in the corner and JT Smith whips Johnny Hotbody into him. JT and Cairo then double hip toss Hotbody across the ring. They then pick up Candido and they irish whip him right into Johnny Hotbody. Candido and Hotbody regroup on the outside as Candido gets back in the ring with JT Smith.

Candido hits a knee to the midsection of JT Smith and he follows that up with a suplex on JT. Candido works on the left arm of JT but JT reverses it and gets Candido in an arm bar of his own. Cairo then gets the tag and he picks up where JT left off. Hotbody comes in but the ref stops him so JT comes back in without a tag to work on the arm of Candido. Cairo comes in does one arm wrench then tags right back in. Hotbody gets tired of it and charges at Cairo and Cairo hits him with a back body drop. Cairo then slams Candido to the mat and follows that up with a drop toe hold to Hotbody who lands right on top of Candido.

Candido gets up and gets leveled with a right hand and so does Hotbody. Candido and Hotbody goes outside of the ring. Candido gets back in and hits Cairo with a knee to the midsection then some right hands. Candido then takes Cairo and throws him over the top rope to the floor. Hotbody then follows that up right away with an elbow from the apron to the outside. Candido then gets Cairo back in the ring and Candido hits him with a gut wrench suplex. Candido picks up Cairo and whips him into the ropes but Cairo gets out of the way and hits Candido with a forearm to the face and he follows that up quickly with a great side suplex. Candido goes for a right hand and Cairo blocks him and gets the tag to JT Smith.

JT gets in the ring and throws Candido to the outside. He then hits Hotbody with a drop kick. Candido comes in and body slams JT Smith. Candido goes up to the top rope and goes for a splash but JT gets out of the way. JT then bodyslams Candido and JT goes up to the top rope and nails a beautiful looking moonsault. Cairo is distracting the ref as Hotbody comes off the top rope and hits an elbow drop to the back of the head of JT Smith. Candido then rolls up JT Smith and they get the 3 count. The winners of the match, in their ECW debut, the Suicide Blondes!

Recap:
This was a pretty good match. There was some sloppiness to it but nothing that can’t be over looked. This was your typical back and forth tag team match that you’ve seen 100x over but it was fun to watch. JT’s moonsault was in slow motion but it looked really good. Candido and Hotbody worked well together. Cairo was the power house and some how it all worked here. Definitely one of the matches you can watch and enjoy from this era of ECW.

Backstage Promo: Don Muraco and Jimmy Snuka

Muraco starts off the promo by saying surprise surprise they said it couldn’t be done. Muraco said this is just the beginning of new faces and people joining Hotstuff International. Muraco teases that he is going to tell us who else going to be coming then he says he’s not going to. Snuka says its TCB…taking care of business. And of course he gets in his TV land quote. Snuka says soon you will find out what it is all about. Muraco says that we have seen Snuka come off the top and that we have seen Muraco drop them deep into the ground and now it is time to see them together.

Match 4: Don Muraco/Jimmy Snuka vs. Hellriders

Muraco and Snuka attack the Hellriders before the bell even rings. Muraco throws one of the Hellriders out of the ring as he drops the other one face first in the ring. Muraco then levels one of the Hellriders with a big time clothesline. Muraco goes over and rakes the eyes out of Hellrider standing on the apron. Muraco gets one of the Hellriders in an arm bar as he goes over and tags in Snuka. Comes in and climbs to the middle rope and comes down with a double ax handle to the Hellrider.

Snuka picks up EZ Ryder and throws him into the rope and he nails him with a knife-edge chop. Snuka tags in Muraco and he comes in and hits a discuss clothesline on EZ Ryder in the turnbuckle. EZ tags in HD Ryder and he comes in and gets suplexed by Muraco. Muraco tags in Snuka and he comes in and hits HD Ryder with a boot to the midsection and he follows that up with a knife edge chop. Snuka holds up the arm of HD Ryder and Muraco hits him with a boot to the midsection. Snuka levels him with another chop to the chest. Muraco then gets HD Ryder in the tombstone pile driver. Snuka gets the tag and he runs off the rope and Muraco picks him up and drops Snuka head first to the head of HD Ryder. Snuka then goes for the pin and gets the 3 count. Your winners are Don Muraco and Jimmy Superfly Snuka!

Recap:
This was a squash match through and through. Snuka and Muraco dominated the match from bell to bell. They didn’t do much offense but they did destroy their opponents. The piledriver from Muraco was pretty sweet and the move they used as their finisher was cool to see. If you are a fan of Muraco and Snuka then you can enjoy this match if only to see the two legends tagging together. Other than that theres not much here.

Jay Sulli is shown backstage telling the fans that we are going to show footage of what happened between the Rockin’ Rebel and the Sandman from last weeks show.

Match 5: ECW Heavyweight Title Match: The Sandman vs. Rockin’ Rebel

The match is joined in progress with Rebel having the Sandman in a head lock. The Sandman pushes Rebel into the ropes and the Rebel shoulder blocks the Sandman. Rebel then hits the ropes again and the Sandman appears to go for a back body drop but the Rebel picks him up and whips him into the ropes again. Sandman leap frogs the Rebel and body slams him. Sandman follows that up with an arm drag then gets him into an arm bar. Sandman flips Rebel to the ground then drops a leg on the arm of Rebel.

Sandman continues to work the arm. Rebel tries to push Sandman off the rope but Sandman continues to hold on to the arm. Sandman finally whips Rebel into the ropes and he goes for a hip toss but the Rebel blocks it and nails the Sandman with a clothesline. Rebel then hits the rope and nails him with another clothesline. Rebel then chokes out the Sandman over the middle rope. He backs off and distracts the ref as Tigra chokes out the Sandman from the outside. Rebel hits Sandman with a side slam. Rebel has a head lock on the Sandman but Sandman gets out and pushes Rebel into the ropes. Rebel comes in and levels the Sandman with a vicious clothesline and he follows that up with a big leg drop. He goes for the cover and gets a 2 count.

Tigra slaps the Sandman then chokes him across the bottom rope. Tigra then rakes the eyes of Sandman. Peaches has the referee distracted as Tigra does all of the damage. The Rebel picks up the Sandman and hits him with a body slam. Rebel picks Sandman up again and goes for a slam but the Sandman gets him in an inside cradle and gets a 1 count. Both men get up and Rebel hits the Sandman with another clothesline. Rebel gets Sandman up and hits him with a jaw breaker. Rebel throws the Sandman into the turnbuckle and the Rebel charges in but the Sandman gets his knees up twice to block.

Sandman charges at the Rebel and slams him face first to the mat. Sandman then climbs to the top rope and hits the Rebel with a drop kick. Sandman goes for the pin but Tigra gets in the ring immediately and rakes the eyes of the Sandman. Peaches comes in goes after Tigra as we have a cat fight. Rebel throws Peaches off of Tigra as the Sandman comes in and swings wildly, with his title belt, at the Rockin Rebel. Tigra and the Rebel get out of the ring and head to the back. Your winner by disqualification and still the ECW Heavyweight Champion….The Sandman!

Recap:
This was a pretty good match here. The Rebel had some pretty good offense and his clotheslines were stiff as hell. The dynamic between Tigra and Peaches was well done and on the whole this was a fun match to watch. Not a lot of wasted movement and the crowd seemed to be into it. Even though the match ended in a disqualification it did a good job of progressing the feud between the Rebel and the Sandman. I am interested to see how this one ends up.

They do a video recap of the ECW TV Title Tournament

Ringside interview: Hunter Q. Robbins the Third

Jay Sulli says that next week we will get a return match between the Super Destroyers vs. Larry Winters/Tony Stetson. Hunter says that he has a new name for Winters and Stetson and that is the Cry Babies. Hunter says that every time we beat them they cry to Tod Gordon until they get another match. Hunter says that this is it and they will not get any other matches after this one. Hunter then forgets his lines and stutters as he just storms off.

Jay Sulli says that we will get a return match between the Super Destroyers vs. Stetson and Winters. We will also have another ECW Heavyweight Title Match featuring the Sandman.

Show Recap:
This was a pretty good show. We had a good match between the Blondes vs. Cairo/Smith. We had an entertaining squash match featuring two legends in Muraco and Snuka. We had a short tag title match between the Super Destroyers vs. Stetson/Winters but it was used to continue their feud into their match on next weeks show. Lastly, we had a pretty fun title match between the Sandman and the Rockin’ Rebel. All in all this was the best show we have watched so far and I am actually looking forward to checking out the action on next weeks show. We are starting to care about the characters and the feuds that they are in. It’s not peak ECW by any means but its not as brutal as the first few episodes were.

I hope you enjoyed the action on this episode of Hardcore History. Stay tuned for the next installment of CrazyMax’s own Hardcore History as we go through the annals of time and relive ECW 1 episode at a time. Thanks for reading and I will catch you all next time right here on a Hardcore History.

Television Rewind Episode 3: WWF Superstars of Wrestling 8-17-1991

Introduction:
Hello everyone and welcome back to Television Rewind. Where we go back in time and review one of the more historical episodes of television from any time, any era, any company. This episode we are going to 1991 where Jake Roberts is trying to teach the Ultimate Warrior all about the dark side. This time Warrior falls for the trap and ends up in a house of horrors, no not Bray’s, of sorts. We are going to be going back to the summer and we are going to Superstars of Wrestling for this special episode of Television Rewind. Without further ado….lets get to it.

Show Opening:

The show opens up with Savage, Vince McMahon, and Piper standing in the commentary section. Piper is talking about living happily ever after when we outta be talking about the here after. On Thursday night the Ultimate Warrior took his big step and was unraveling a mystery and Undertaker himself. Vince then leads us into the video where Jake is taking the Ultimate Warrior to some “dark room.”

Vignette: Jake Roberts leads Ultimate Warrior to the Dark Side

The video opens up with Jake leading the Warrior down some dark hall with small lights hanging above. Jake says we have gotten to the place that holds it all brother. Jake says inside this room is a coffin with Lucifer waiting. Jake then asks the Warrior if he knows what Lucifer has waiting for him. Jake says Lucifer holds the final piece of the puzzle. Jake says that Warrior has trusted him to this point, you have reached out your hand to me. Jake says he has given him soul. Jake says Warrior needs to stick his hand inside of Lucifer and find the answer.

Warrior says the trust he has had before has done him no wrong up to this point. Ultimate Warrior says he has no fear and he asks to be let into the room. Jake then opens up the door for him and he goes in. Jake says it’s dark but the Warrior isn’t afraid of the dark. Jake tells him to learn to slide in. Whatever the hell that means. Jake tells him to go for it and he will find the answer in the center of the room. Warrior asks what he is stepping on and Jake says he will shine a little light on him for the big guy.

When the light comes on the room is full of snakes all over the place. Theres a pile in the middle of the room and they are all over the light fixture as well. Going into this I guess the Warrior was told to just walk around them and he will be fine. Jake tells him they are just friends of his and that he will be just fine. Jake tells him they are just snakes and he will be fine. However, being the coked out monster that the Warrior is, he decides to go in “gun blazing” so to speak and starts kicking the shit out of the snakes. Warrior winds up and kicks the hell out of a python and sends it packing.

Warrior then walks towards the center of the room. Warrior says that Jake told him nothing of this. Jake tells him he was buried in dirt and in a casket. Jake tells him to trust him and go to the center of the room. Warrior clears a path by, you guessed it, kicking the snakes to the side. Jake is trying to tell him not to be violent with them and to be easy but he is just laying in the boots to these snakes. The camera pans down to the floor where they catch one snake eating one of the other snakes. Theres no amount of money in the world that they could have paid me to even step foot into this room. You have to be on some pretty strong shit just to open that door.

Anyways, inside the middle of the room there is a chest that has a big python slivering all over it. Warrior goes to open up the box to find out what is in it. Speaking of the python, it looks like the snake he first kicked is still laying in the back of the room on it’s back and it hasn’t moved. Theres a possibility he killed that snake or did some harm to it. Anyways, Warrior goes in and opens up the box in the middle of the room and a king cobra is waiting for him. Warrior stares it right in the eyes and it jumps out and “bites him.” You can clearly tell the cobra was filmed in a different room. Also, the lid ends up shut some how when the Warrior doesn’t touch it after the snake jumped out.

Warrior is selling it like he got struck in the neck area but the snake itself took a downward dive toward him so theres no way in hell it connected with his neck. Anyways, Jake is asking Warrior if his blood is pumping and telling him to be calm. Jake tells him this is a part of it and the venom is racing through is body. Warrior is asking Jake to open the door and let him out. Jake says the poison is running through the Warriors veins as Warrior collapses to the floor. Jake then says goodbye to the Warrior.  Jake then says to the man in black, “why don’t you come and see how the devils work is done”. Warrior then comes crashing through the door as Jake says that he is fighting to survive.

Jake then calls to the Warrior and they show the Warrior reaching his hands out as the Undertakers music starts to play and he is standing over the Ultimate Warrior. For some ungodly reason thr camera is now being shown from the perspective of the Warrior’s eyes. Warrior is reaching at his feet and then he turns around and reaches out to Jake and Jake says that he is a snake and that he should never trust a snake. Warriors hand falls down and he lays there motionless as his eyes, aka the camera, fades to black.

Match 1: The Berzerker vs. Dave Millison

Before the match even starts, the Berzerker takes off his belt and swings it wildly in the ring. Berzerker then goes after Millison and clubs him in the back a few times and it sends Dave down to the mat. Berzerker then picks up Dave and whips him into the ropes and nails him with a big boot. The Berzerker wears me out man. He is constantly moving throughout the entire match and it makes me tired. Berzerker then drops two knees into the chest of Millison and then he crawls over and yells Huss in Fuji’s face.

Berzerker picks up Millison and he gets him in a power slam type move. Berzerker then picks up Millison again and he ties him into the ropes. Berzerker then runs off the ropes and drives his big boot right into the face of Millison. Berzerker frees him from the ropes and he drops him face first into the mat. Berzerker then picks up Millison and just tosses him over the top rope and the poor dude lands on his knees and that looked painful as hell. The ref counts the 10 and the Berzerker wins by count out. Berzerker then runs off the ropes in celebration and then he falls down and does a back bump. This dude is hilarious and entertaining as hell. Your winner by count out….The Berzerker!

Recap:
These recaps are going to be short and sweet because these are just squash matches so nothing really to write home about. Berzerker was in the ring for about 3-4 minutes and between the action and his antics he didn’t stop moving the whole time. Where he got the energy for all that I’ll never know but man he didn’t stop. His offense was always fun to watch for me because he would just beat the brakes off these jobbers and then just toss them out like trash. I also enjoyed the fact that he would win by count out instead of actually pinning his opponent. Just a little nuance that was unique to him and it made him stand out a little bit.

WWF Event Center: Promos by: Legion of Doom Then Mr. Perfect & Coach

Mooney tells us that the entire WWF is enraged at what Jake did to the Warrior. Mooney says the Warrior is fine physically but who know’s mentally. Mooney runs down the card for the August 26th show at the Boston Garden. He announces Warrior will square off with the Undertaker in a casket match. DiBiase will square off against Virgil. Mr. Perfect will battle Bret Hart for the Intercontinental title. The card also features the Legion of Doom squaring off against the Nasty Boys for the Tag Team Titles. We cut to a promo by the Legion of Doom.

Animal says that it is time again for a tag team title match between them and the Nasty Boys. Animal says that they are sure the Nasty Boys are confident but they shouldn’t be because when they get to the ring this time they will be the tag team champions and not the Nasty Boys. Hawk then says that the Nasty Boys are not going to like it. Hawk says it has no affect at all on the two of them because they get what they want. Hawk says they do what they say they are going to do. Hawk says that the Nasty Boys will be looking up at the lights when they pin them for the 3 count.

They go back to Mooney where he says that Bret Hart will be challenging Mr. Perfect for the Intercontinental championship. We then cut to a promo by Mr. Perfect and his manager the Coach.

Coach says that they are both ready for the Hitman. Perfect tells Bret that is simple because there are zillions of people out there who actually believe that he is going to walk in and take away the IC title from Perfect. Perfect says he is the type of guy that likes to beat people at their own game. Perfect says he is going to beat Bret at his own game because he is Perfect.

Match 2: ‘Texas Tornado’ Kerry Von Erich vs. Pete Doherty

Wow I am shocked to see Pete Doherty in the ring here. He ran the house show circuit in the 80s but I don’t ever really remember seeing him in the ring on the syndicated shows. This should be a some what entertaining squash match here. They get in a tie up and Kerry goes behind and drops him to the mat as Pete crawls over to the bottom rope. Pete gets back up and they tie up again. This time Kerry picks up Pete and slams. Pete gets up twice and each time Kerry hits him with an arm drag. Pete rolls to the outside of the game and stalls a little bit. Pete gets back in the ring and they tie up for a third time.

This time Pete pushes Kerry into the corner and we get a clean break from both men. Surprising. Both guys tie up again and this time Kerry goes for a clean break but Pete slaps him in the mid section. Pete then drives Kerry to the other corner and lays in some right hands until Kerry turns him around and lays in the rights in rapid succession. Kerry then calls for the claw hold and gets him stunned. Kerry then releases the claw hold and nails him with the spinning discuss punch and he gets the 1-2-3. Your winner by pinfall….Texas Tornado!

Recap:
Again this was just another squash match. They tied up 3-4 times and then we went to a finish. This is typical for this type of show so there really isn’t much to discuss. It was pretty awesome seeing Pete Doherty out here. He was always entertaining, to a degree, on the house show circuit so not all that bad to see him here on Superstars. Kerry looked good and thats all that matters.

WWF Update:

They head to Gene Okerlund in the production truck where he updates on what has going on in the WWF. Okerlund talks about Bobby Heenan making the accusation that Ric Flair will be joining the WWF once his contract expires. They go back to the promo from the week prior where Heenan is holding the WCW World Heavyweight Title.

Heenan says if you want to compare this belt to the World Wrestling Federation champion Hulk Hogan then it’s like comparing ice cream to horse manure. Heenan then says if you want to compare the man who wears this belt to Hulk Hogan then that would be like comparing ice cream to horse manure. Heenan then says that Hulk Hogan is the WWF champion but the man holding this belt is the Real World Champion….Ric Flair!

Gene says those were the statements of Heenan from last weeks show. This week we have more comments from Bobby Heenan. We go to him where he is holding the WCW World Heavyweight title and cutting a promo:

Heenan says the the big noise we heard last week was not a sonic boom but it was everyones jaws dropping when they heard the news that Ric Flair may be coming to the World Wrestling Federation. Heenan says he may be come the advisor of Ric Flair. Heenan says that Hogan should be extremely concerned because Hogan knows it, Heenan knows it, and everyone knows it that the belt he is holding is the is held by the Real Worlds Champion….Ric Flair!

Gene says “Ric Flair the real worlds champion? That remains to be seen.” Gene then says what really puzzles him is that someone with the great wrestling ability of Ric Flair, why in the world would he need advice from anyone, let alone Bobby Heenan?

Match 3: Skinner vs. Mario Mancini

Vince announces that this is the debut of Skinner on Superstars. He ties up with Mario and he starts clubbing him in the back and kicking him once he gets down on the mat. Skinner then picks up Mario and tosses him over the top rope. Skinner gets out on the apron and jumps down on Mario with a boot to the back. Skinner then lays in the boots to Mario. Skinner picks up Mario and drives him into the guard rail.

During the match they show a promo by Skinner where he starts it off by spitting some tobacco into his can. Skinner says “see the pretty little bird on the window seal. See the pretty little bird, see the pretty little bill. I fed him some crumbs and I fed him some bread then I smashed his pretty little head.” What the hell is going on here. We have Warrior killing snakes and Skinner talking about killing a little bird. Deranged to say the least.

Mario ends up back on the apron and Skinner works him over a little bit while leaning up against the ropes. He clubs him across the chest and Mario falls back down the outside. Skinner then goes out side and throws Mario back into the ring. Skinner kicks him in the back a few times and then he picks him up off the mat. Skinner gets behind Mario and grabs him by the neck and ends up dropping him back first on to his knee. Skinner stands back up and drops him on his knee again. Skinner stands up a third time and drops him with the neck breaker. Skinner goes for the pin and gets the 1-2-3. Your winner by pinfall…..Skinner!

Recap:
This was another shit squash match, this time with the debuting Skinner. HIs offense was nothing but punches and kicks and you could tell right away they had nothing for this guy. His promo during the match was atrocious and really made absolutely no sense. Basically he is saying he can kill a bird but can he do anything in the ring? His finisher was pretty cool but other than that this was terrible.

WWF Event Center: Promos by: Bushwhackers Then I.R.S.

They go back to the Event Center where Mooney is still going over the Boston Garden. Mooney says later on in the show we will hear from the pale destroyer, the Undertaker, but for now we are going to the Bushwhackers. They are preparing for their match against the Beverly Brothers.

Butch says You know matey there is a new tag team here in the WWF and they have a manager named the Coach. Bushwhackers then dub the term the Beverly Sisters. Butch then says or are they the Beverly Brothers. Luke responds that he thinks its the Beverly Sisters. Butch says it doesn’t matter if they are the Beverly Brothers or the Beverly Sisters because they are now in the WWF and they are in the ring with the Bushwhackers and they are going to show them what it is all about.

Mooney says that Bushwhackers plan to show the Beverly Brothers regret their arrival here in the World Wrestling Federation. Mooney then says that Jim Duggan is on a collision course with I.R.S. Mooney then sends it to IRS for his promo.

IRS starts the promo by saying that Duggan should be ashamed of himself by hiding behind the American flag. He says that Duggan is making the people of the World Wrestling Federation believe he is a patriot. IRS then says that Duggan is like a lot of Americans and thats nothing but a stinky, lousy, tax cheat. IRS says the time has come where he can no longer write off his board as a tax deduction. IRS says that Duggan is now dealing with him and he says what he says goes around here and now Duggan is going to get audited. IRS says he is not going to like it one little bit.

Mooney says that IRS is determined to close Jim Duggan’s account once and for all here in the World Wrestling Federation.

Match 4: Legion of Doom vs. Dwayne Gill/Barry Hardy

The LOD will get their shot against Gillberg. I guess we know who won’t be first on this one. The match starts out with LOD attacking both guys Animal throws out Hardy while Hawk gorilla presses Gill and just drops him to the outside. Hardy gets on the apron and gets back in the ring with Animal. Animal whips Hardy into the ropes and hits him with a nice looking drop kick. Animal then picks up Hardy and hits him with a belly to belly suplex.

Animal tags in Hawk and he comes off the middle rope and punches Hardy in the face. Hawk then drops a jumping fist drop. Hawk then picks up Hardy and hits him with a chop. Meanwhile, the Nasty Boys & Jimmy Hart show up in the promo box while the action is going on on the right side of the screen. Vince says in 1 week they will be meeting the LOD and they are looking pretty good. Jimmy Hart says “are you kidding me?” Saggs then says that they are looking pretty good but they aren’t nasty. Knobbs then says in 1 week it will be their last trip to Nastyville and they are leaving without the belts.

We come back to the action with Hawk hitting Gill with a shoulder block. Hawk then picks up Gill and hits him with a gut wrench suplex. Hawk picks up Gill again and snap mares him over. Hawk gets Gill in a reverse chin lock while he drives his knee into the back of Gill. Hawk releases the hold and punches Gill on the top of his head. Hawk picks up Gill and he tags in Animal while Animal gets in the ring and nails Gill with an elbow.

Animal then picks up Gill and throws him into the ropes and nails him with a power slam. Animal then hits a European uppercut to Gill. Animal then grabs the head of Gill and wrenches his neck. Animal tags in Hawk as Animal puts Gill on the top of his shoulders. Hawk comes off the top rope and nails Gill with the Doomsday Device. Hawk gets the 1-2-3. Your winners by pinfall…..Legion of Doom!

Recap:
This was a somewhat entertaining squash match because the LOD just didn’t give a crap about their opponents. They beat the brakes off both guys and it was always awesome seeing the Doomsday Device finish. It looked painful and it doesn’t look like a fun time. These guys sold really well for the LOD and they looked ready for their tag title match in a week at SummerSlam.

SummerSlam Report:

Gene lets us know that we are a week away from SummerSlam only available on pay-per-view. Gene tells us all to make the call now to our cable company so we don’t miss out. Kids these days would have no idea what he is even talking about. Gene runs through the crowd where he talks about the match made in Heaven. He says nuptials turn to napalm when we go to the match made in Hell between Hogan/Warrior vs. Triangle of Terror. Gene says the medical reports indicate that the Warrior is okay but you still can’t help but wonder the condition of the Ultimate Warrior. Gene says we have comments this week from Sgt. Slaughter and company plus Warriors tag team partner…Hulk Hogan.

Hogan says that ever since Wrestlemania 7 he and Slaughter have been through hell and back. He says that is why at SummerSlam this match has to be named the Match Made in Hell. Hogan calls out Sid and says he better call it down the middle or if he doesn’t then he will just be another casualty of war. Hogan then says that the way Slaughter and company are basking in their glory that they are acting like they already won at SummerSlam. Hogan says the one thing they don’t realize is that, even though Warrior got bit by the snake, he won’t be injured and he will be there because he stole all of the energy and toxins from the poison. He said the Warrior is going to be bigger and stronger than ever. Hogan then says that with the Hogan and the Warriors uniting as one they will be the strongest force in the universe. Whatcha gonna do when Hulk Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior run wild on you?!?!

They then go to a promo by Sgt. Slaughter, Gen. Adnan, and Col. Mustafa. Slaughter says “well, well, well Ultimate puke you got bit.” Slaughter says SummerSlam is right around the corner and he questions the strength of Warrior. Slaughter then asks Hogan and says what is he going to do when his partner is going to be laying around wishing he wasn’t there. Slaughter then calls out Sid and tells him he just wants him to stay out of his way and let him do what he wants. Slaughter Rules and Hogan is finally going to Judgement Day because the he and his trio are finally going to destroy Hulkamania once and for all.

They go back to Gene Okerlund where he runs through the crowd. We got Bret vs. Perfect for the IC title, LOD vs. Nasty Boys for the Tag Team Titles. We also have the Million Dollar Title on the line between DiBiase and Virgil. We then head to a couple of promos by DiBiase then Virgil

DiBiase says that SummerSlam is a week away and that the buck stops here. Hey all did you know that SummerSlam is a week away? Yeah me either. Anyways, Ted says that Virgil reserved a black stretched limo to take him to SummerSlam. Ted says that Virgil may show up in a black limo but he is going out in a yellow cab. Then we got the iconic DiBiase laugh.

Virgil tells DiBiase that he is going to take the train to SummerSlam. Virgil says after he beats DiBiase he is going to tip DiBiase’s limo driver so nicely that he is going to take him down to broadway while Ted and Sherri are taking the cab.

Gene tells us that Boss Man and Mountie will battle in a jail house match where the loser spends the night in the slammer. We then head over to a promo by the Mountie & Jimmy Hart.

Jimmy tells Mountie that SummerSlam is one week away and that they are going to prove to the world that the only law and order in the WWF is the Mountie law and order. Hart also tells us that Boss Man is going to spend a night in jail. Mountie says he is tired of Boss Man running from him but his running days are coming to an end. Mountie says that Boss Man’s hard time serving days are just beginning. The Mountie says he always gets his man and that Boss Man is going to be put in jail.

Boss Man says SummerSlam is a week away and that there is no more chance for parole, no more chances for appeal, and that stays of execution are up. Boss Man says it’s going to make him feel real good to make the Mountie feel real bad. Boss Man says that the Mountie is going to jail…punk!

Gene then runs through the crowd some more and announces that Bushwhackers will have Andre in their corner when they take on the Natural Disasters. We have Greg Valentine vs. Irwin. A six man tag between Davey Boy/Kerry/The Dragon vs. Power N Glory/Warlord. Gene tells us one more time that it is one week away and that we need to contact our pay per view providers.

Match 5: Jimmy Snuka vs. Brooklyn Brawler

The match starts out with the Brawler attacking Snuka from behind while he adjusts his knee pads. Brawler nails him 4-5 times in the back and then rakes his eyes. Brawler then hits the ropes and hits Snuka with a shoulder block. Brawler then hits the ropes again while Snuka drops down then does a leap frog over Brawler. Brawler is probably blown up just hitting the ropes this much. After the leap frog Snuka nails the Brawler with a chop.

Brawler gets up to his feet and charges at Snuka again and Snuka does a leap frog and the Brawler goes flying out of the ring. Brawler gets up to his feet and drags Snuka outside with him. Brawler goes for a right hand but Snuka blocks it and hits his own right hand and follows that up with 3-4 chops. Snuka throws Brawler back into the ring and when Snuka is getting back into the ring himself, the Brawler hits the ropes but Snuka drops down again and ends up hitting Brawler with a hip toss. Brawler gets up and Snuka body slams him.

Brawler gets up after the slam and gets met with a clotheslines by Snuka. Snuka gets brawler in a head lock and punches him in the face and then follows that up with a chop. Snuka whips Brawler into the ropes but Brawler reverses it and goes for a clothesline but Snuka dunks under neath and ends up hitting the Brawler with a flying head butt. Snuka picks the Brawler up and hits a jumping head butt on him. Snuka picks up the Brawler and hits him with a back breaker. Snuka then climbs to the top rope and nails the Brawler with the Superfly Splash and gets the 1-2-3. Your winner by pinfall…..Jimmy Snuka!

Recap:
This match was short and sweet and we got to see the awesome Superfly Splash. You can see it 100x and it never gets hold. Just a really awesome move. The poor Brawler spent the whole match running the ropes so he had to be tired after all of that. Just a typical squash match here and nothing special, like the rest of this card.

Match 6: Mr. Perfect vs. Mike Daniels

The match starts out with Perfect and Daniels staring each other down. Perfect sticks his finger in the face of Daniels and Daniels pushes it away. This pisses Perfect off and he ends up slapping the taste out of Daniels mouth. He follows that up with a right hand as well. Perfect then takes Daniels and throws him out of the ring through the middle rope. Perfect heads out after him and throws him back first into the apron. Perfect then lays in two chops to the chest of Daniels. Perfect gets back in the ring and the ref counted the 10. Your winner by count out….Mr. Perfect!

After the match Perfect gets on the mic. Perfect says SummerSlam, SummerSlam. He then calls out Bret Hart and says that everyone thinks he is the chosen one that has enough talent to take the Intercontinental belt. Perfect says this will be the greatest match in WWF history. Perfect says he is going to show Bret Hart, and everyone else, that he is absolutely Perfect.

Recap:
This was less than a minute long. I can only assume it was done to protect Perfect going into his match with Bret. Perfect was probably pretty banged up here so they didn’t want him to do to much. The promo afterwards was pretty damn good and got the point across. Other than that, there is really nothing here.

WWF Event Center: Promos By: Virgil Then the Undertaker/Paul Bearer

Mooney says that the WWF returns to the Boston Garden on September 28th. Mooney says that Ted DiBiase will be facing Virgil and questions whether or not the Million Dollar Belt will be on the line. We head to a promo by Virgil.

Virgil asks DiBiase if he looks like a guy that is scared. Virgil says he is confident as the day is long. Virgil says at SummerSlam he is going to have a jeweler ringside because he is going to take 11 inches out of the belt so it can fit around his 29 inch waste line. What the hell is this guy talking about? Virgil tells DiBiase if he wants it to come and get it because he will defend the belt any time, any where, any place because it is his belt and it is all the good Americans belt. Virgil says he will be there home boy. What a shit promo by a shit performer.

Mooney says that the Warrior will face off against the Undertaker in a casket match. We then head to a promo by Undertaker and Paul Bearer.

Bearer tells the Warrior that we are going back to where it all began and thats the casket. Bearer says it all comes back to the casket. He said it is the casket that Undertaker sealed him in a few weeks ago. It is also the casket Jake made him get in a few weeks ago. Bearer says he knows that the Warrior is still scared even though he may be telling his little Warriors otherwise. Taker then says when he seals the casket this time around there won’t be anything to save.

Mooney says after what we saw earlier it is clear that Undertaker is looking close the lid on the Ultimate Warrior once and for all. Mooney then runs through more of the card at the Boston Garden on September 28th.

Show Closing:

The show closes with Vince, Savage, and Piper running through who is going to be on the show next week. We will have the Natural Disasters in action, Bret, Sgt. Slaughter will also be in action. They will give us an update on the physical condition of the Ultimate Warrior. They will also have a special interview with Sid Justice.

Show Recap:
The only reason I did this show was for the first 5 minutes. The segment between Warrior and Jake was well worth sitting through the rest of this show. That opening segment is something else and is one of the crazier things the WWF did during this time. I have no clue what the Warrior got for doing this segment but he didn’t get enough because there is no way any normal person is going to be okay with doing that. The bite and everything after it is a little cheesy but there isn’t much more you can expect with doing something like that and making it look good in early 91.

The matches themselves were all squashes so there is absolutely nothing really watch here. The promos during the Event Center and the SummerSlam report kind of sucked and didn’t really do much. You always hope to get a good who cut that great promo during this shows but there wasn’t one of them on this episode. Again the matches aren’t watch attracted me to the show, it was the first 5 minutes. That was well worth the time invested in this review. Other than that, you can turn the show off after that.

It’s been nice doing one of these Television Rewinds again so maybe look forward to some more in the future. I am not sure whats on deck but there is always content to be made and posted so please stick around and enjoy the work we are putting on here at CrazyMax. Until next time, enjoy the reading!

Wrestling Legend Bruno Sammartino Passes Away

0

WWE Hall of Famer Bruno Sammartino has passed away at the age of 82.

The two-time WWWF Champion passed away at his home in Pittsburgh, PA this morning following a hospitalization, according to sources at PWInsider. Stay tuned as we hope to have more details on his passing soon.

WWE remembered Bruno with this announcement on their website:

WWE Hall of Famer Bruno Sammartino passes away

WWE is saddened to learn that WWE Hall of Famer Bruno Sammartino passed away at age 82.

The story of Bruno Sammartino is the story of the American dream.

During his childhood in the small Italian mountain town of Abruzzi, Italy, Bruno Sammartino heard stories about how the streets in the United States were paved with gold. Though he believed it literally at the time, Sammartino would experience fortune and fame first-hand as the longest-reigning WWE Champion and the most beloved competitor in the history of the squared circle.

Life wasn’t always so glorious for The Italian Superman. Bruno’s brother and sister both passed away at young ages, and Adolf Hitler’s Nazi forces seized their town, but Bruno persevered. He and his mother hid in a mountain called Valla Rocca during the German occupation and eventually joined his immigrant father in Pittsburgh in 1950.

Sammartino began lifting weights as a young man and grew to become one of the strongest men on the planet. After setting a world record in 1959 by bench-pressing 565 pounds, Sammartino caught the eye of Vincent J. McMahon, and became a sports-entertainer.

Bruno became an overnight sensation, connecting with not only fellow Italians, but also Latinos, Greeks and Jews, successfully bridging the gap in America’s melting pot of wrestling fans. His legend continued to grow on May 17, 1963, when Sammartino defeated Buddy Rogers in just 48 seconds to become the second-ever WWE Champion in front of nearly 20,000 fans at the old Madison Square Garden.

Bruno held the WWE Championship for nearly eight years — by far the longest reign of all time, and a record for all professional wrestling champions, no matter the organization. A household name all over the country, the beloved hero defended his title in legendary rivalries against WWE Hall of Famers Killer Kowalski, Gorilla Monsoon and George “The Animal” Steele.

In early 1968, Sammartino headlined the first wrestling event at the brand-new Madison Square Garden, just eight days after it opened. The Garden truly was the house that Bruno built, as he sold it out an astounding 187 times. When he lost the title to Ivan Koloff in 1971, grown men in the crowd were seen weeping, but on Dec. 10, 1973, Sammartino became the first two-time WWE Champion and held the title for an additional three-and-a-half years.

On Aug. 9, 1980, Sammartino defeated his former protégé, Larry Zbyszko, inside a steel cage at New York City’s Shea Stadium in front of more than 35,000 people. The heated grudge match broke box-office records for wrestling events, and Bruno retired from the ring the following year.

Bruno returned to WWE in the mid-80s as a broadcaster alongside Mr. McMahon and as a mentor for his son David, who was just beginning his grappling career. Now known as The Living Legend, Bruno also engaged in several rivalries with a generation of WWE’s greatest villains, including “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, “Macho Man” Randy Savage and The Honky Tonk Man.

The star power and influence of Sammartino was exemplified by the fact that he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013 by none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger. It was the 188th and final time that Sammartino headlined and sold out Madison Square Garden.

WWE extends its condolences to Sammartino’s family, friends and fans.

Randy Orton’s Tattoo Artist Sues WWE and 2K Games

0

Illinois tattoo artist Catherine Alexander has filed a lawsuit against WWE and 2K Games, according to TMZ Sports. Randy Orton’s tattoo artist claims that 2K and WWE used her designs without permission in the WWE 2K video game series.

Alexander claims that she’s been doing Orton’s ink since 2003 and owns the copyrights to the designs. She’s accusing WWE and 2K of copyright infringement because Orton’s tats are depicted to a tee in the WWE video games.

Alexander says she brought the issue up with WWE in 2009 and was offered just $450 for the rights to use the designs. She says she declined the offer. There’s no word yet on how much money she is seeking in the suit.

The tattoos mentioned in the suit are a tribal tattoo on Orton’s upper back as well as the full sleeve he has with everything from a Bible verse to a dove, skulls and a rose, among others.

The Event Center: WCW/NWO Uncensored 1998 Review

Introduction:
Hello everyone and welcome back to the Event Center. Last time we hit up a WWE Saturday Night Main Event from the summer of 2006. It was a snooze fest to say the least but hopefully the review spiced it up for you a little bit. Like I stated at the end of that review, we plan on switching things up a little bit going forward so this time we are going back to WCW. We are going to go to March of 1998 and hit up another Uncensored Pay Per View. This one is headlined by a cage match featuring Hollywood Hogan vs. Macho Man Randy Savage. Can only imagine how this one is going to turn out so lets get to it.

Show Opening:

The show opens up with them going through a video package where they highlight the two big matches on the card. One being Hollywood Hogan vs. Savage in the cage. Then we got Sting vs. Scott Hall for the WCW World Heavyweight title. After the video package wraps up we head to the broadcast position where Mike Tenay, Tony Schiavone, and Bobby Heenan hype up the show and run through the card. Of course, since the show is Uncensored, they only show the first names of the commentators. Those slick WCW graphic creators. Anywho, they are excited for the action as am I so lets get to the first match.

Match 1: WCW Television Title Match: Booker T (c) vs. Eddie Guerrero

The match starts off with Eddie going outside and stalling a little bit. Two things before we get going here: 1. Eddie’s mullet is still awesome and 2. His entrance music was the shit as well. Anyways, Booker goes after Eddie and Eddie dips to the apron to back Booker T off. Eddie does it again once Booker comes at him again. Eddie tries to catch Booker off guard but Booker is ready for it and ends up hitting Eddie with two forearms then a big back body drop after he whipped him into the ropes. Eddie nearly over rotates and he hits feet first. Booker then picks up Eddie and drops him with a side suplex.

Both men get up and Booker nails him with a right hand then whips him into the ropes again. Booker then decks Eddie with a big time clothesline and the thud that it makes when he connects is nasty sounding. Eddie gets up to his feet near the ropes and Booker hits him with another clothesline that sends Eddie over the top and out of the ring. Eddie then chews out Chavo, who is sitting outside in a chair. Eddie gets back in the ring on his knees and sticks his hand out for a shake. Booker grabs it and squeezes tightly. Eddie gets to his feet and Booker hits him with a big side kick.

Booker whips Eddie into the ropes again and Booker drops him with a power slam. Eddie quickly gets up to his feet and goes to the outside and says he is done with this match. Booker comes out after him and ends up body slamming Eddie on the outside. Booker throws Eddie back into the ring and Eddie gets up to his feet and runs off the ropes but Booker waits for him and hits him with a back elbow. Booker then picks up Eddie and gets him in a big time power slam. Booker walks across the ring for a moment before dumping him. Booker goes up to the top rope but Eddie gets up to his feet and ends up drop kicking the feet out from under Booker as he racks himself on the top rope.

Eddie lays in the right hands and ends up climbing to the top rope with Booker and Eddie gets him in a beautiful super plex off the top. Both men are down as the ref gets to a 5 count. Eddie goes for a right hand but Booker blocks it and hits him with a forearm. Booker then whips Eddie into the ropes and Booker decks him with a nice side kick. Booker goes for the cover and gets a 2 count. Booker picks up Eddie and kicks him in the gut. Booker goes for his scissors kick but Eddie moves out of the way and quickly does a basement drop kick to the left knee and sends Booker down to the mat. What an awesome looking move that was.

Booker clutches his knee as Eddie comes over and starts laying in the kicks to the injured knee. Eddie then drags the leg of Booker to the rope and drapes it across the bottom rope. Eddie grabs the ropes and jumps up and puts all of his weight on the knee of Booker. Eddie then goes to the outside and drapes the leg over the apron. Eddie gets back into the ring and goes up and over and grabs the leg as he comes down. Eddie throws Booker back into the ring and hits him with another low drop kick to the knee. Eddie then gets Booker in a leg lock type move in the middle of the ring. Eddie puts his legs on the rope to get some leverage on the hold.

Eddie keeps putting his legs on the rope for some leverage. He does this 4-5 times before the ref catches him. Booker gets up in the corner and Eddie goes for a whip to the other corner but Booker reverses it but Booker can’t follow up and ends up getting hit with a back elbow. Eddie then lays out the leg of Booker and he goes out to the apron. Eddie then does his roll in slam to the knee of Booker. Booker ends up rolling outside as Eddie climbs to the top and comes off with a splash off the top. It looked like Eddie was about to fall off the rope and he barely connected with Booker.

Eddie throws Booker back into the ring and hits Booker with a belly to back suplex. Eddie whips Booker into the ropes but Booker reverses it and ends up hitting Eddie with a flapjack. Booker does the spinarooni and he ends up nailing Eddie with the scissor kick. Booker picks up Eddie and whips him into the ropes again and ends up decking Eddie with a spine buster. Booker goes to the top rope and goes for a missile drop kick but Eddie moves out of the way. Booker ends up landing on his feet and Eddie charges at him and Booker throws him up and over and Eddie hits the turnbuckle.

Booker goes for the Harlem Side Kick in the corner but Eddie moves out of the way and Booker ends up racked over the top rope. Eddie climbs up to the top and is about to go for a super plex, or something, again but Booker pushes him off. Eddie ends up doing a back flip and lands on his feet then he rolls back. He comes charging at Booker and Booker nails him with the drop kick off the top. Booker goes for the cover and gets the 1-2-3. Your winner and still WCW television champion…..Booker T!

After the match Eddie goes to the outside and gets in the face of Chavo, who appeared to have smiled that Eddie lost. Eddie ends up pushing Chavo and Chavo pushes him back. Eddie puts his hands up like he is done and he ends up letting Chavo leave. However, Eddie ends up decking Chavo in the back and lays in the boots to him. Eddie then picks up Eddie and throws him into the guard rail. Eddie picks him up again and body slams Chavo to the floor.

Recap:
This was an awesome match from start to finish. Once it got going it never really stopped.  The big time moves just kept coming and coming. Booker had a lot of high powered offense while Eddie was going all over the place. Eddie worked the leg but he did it in a creative way that is different than other offense when it comes to a body part. The rest hold segment didn’t feel long at all. The ending was good and you never really knew who was going to come out on top. This is a really good match and I am not surprised in the least. The segment at the end of the match was really good as well. Booker may have won but Eddie still has his heat. All in all a great way to start the show.

Match 2: Konnan vs. Juventud Guerrera

Konnan has his back to Juvi once the bell rings so Juvi comes charging at him and hits him in the back with a spinning wheel kick. Juvi then picks up Konnan and lays in the chops to Konnan. Juvi then whips Konnan into the ropes and he goes for a drop kick but Konnan holds onto the ropes and Juvi goes crashing to the mat. Konnan then grabs the leg of Juvi and pulls him back to his feet. Konnan then bounces off the rope and ends up laying Juvi out with a clothesline. Konnan gets Juvi back to his feet and he tries to whip him into the ropes but Juvi blocks it and ends up climbing on the shoulders of Konnan. Juvi ends up jumping off the shoulders of Konnan. Juvi then lays in some back elbows to break free of Konnan.

Juvi turns around and lays in the rights to Konnan. Juvi hits the ropes and hits Konnan with a tilt-a-whirl head scissors that sends Konnan rolling out of the ring. Juvi then hits the ropes and makes it look like he is going to hit Konnan with a move but Konnan moves out of the way so Juvi just bounces off the top rope and stays in the ring. However, Konnan grabs the leg of Juvi and drags him to the outside. Konnan then whips Juvi into the steps on the outside. Konnan moves the steps to the middle of the of the ring. Konnan tries to ram the head of Juvi into the steps but Juvi blocks it and ends up chopping Konnan and laying in some forearms. Juvi then slams Konnan into the steps himself.

Juvi then runs and jumps off the steps and hits Konnan with a side kick. Juvi then chops and lays in some forearms into Konnan before throwing him back into the ring. Juvi gets back in the ring by hitting a spring board drop kick. Juvi goes for the cover and gets a 2 count. Juvi whips Konnan into the ropes but Konnan reverses it. Juvi goes for another tilt-a-whirl head scissor but Konnan blocks that as well and ends up draping Juvi across the top rope. Konnan then grabs the legs of Juvi and gets him in a version of the Indian death lock. Konnan gets Juvi back to his feet and back into the corner. Konnan then nail him with a nasty sounding chop. Konnan then whips Juvi into the other corner but Juvi ends up kicking Konnan. Juvi then jumps on the back of Konnan but Konnan drops him down and grabs him in a belly to back type position. Konnan then dumps him with a release German suplex. That was nasty looking.

Konnan then steps on the chest of Juvi and gets a 2 count. Konnan then grabs the legs of Juvi and catapults him into the corner and Juvi does a flip and ends up upside down in the corner. Konnan then lays in some boots to Juvi. Konnan then takes the boot and rakes it across the face of Juvi. Konnan grabs Juvi by the hair and picks him up and throws him across the ring. Juvi is selling like a champ for his boy Konnan here and it’s making this match look a lot better than it really is. Konnan then grabs Juvi in a boston crab type move. Konnan grabs the arms of Juvi and just drops down on Juvi. That looked brutal and I am shocked Juvi didn’t get hurt. Juvi rolls out of the ring to catch a breather.

Juvi gets back in the ring and Konnan picks him up and carries him around the ring in a fireman’s carry. He drops down to a knee and asks the ref to ask Juvi if he wants to quit but theres really no submission move being applied. What a dumbass looking spot this was. I wonder if Konnan legit injured Juvi so they are stalling hoping Juvi catches his wind or something because the flow of this match just came to a stand still after Konnan dumped him on his head.

Konnan gets back to his feet and puts Juvi on the top rope. Konnan locked his feet and goes for a release German suplex off of the top rope but Juvi does a flip out of it and lands on his feet. Konnan is stuck in the corner hanging upside down helpless so Juvi quickly nails him with a drop kick to the face. Juvi then lays in the boots to Konnan. Juvi  frees up Konnan and he gets back in the ring. Juvi picks up Konnan and hits him with a back hand chop. Juvi goes for a whip on Konnan but Konnan reverses it. Juvi tries to slide through the legs of Konnan but Konnan grabs him by the hair and pulls him back up to his feet.

Konnan then pushes Juvi into the ropes and Juvi goes for a wheel barrel type move but Konnan catches him and throws him over and he goes crashing to the mat. Konnan picks up Juvi and tries to get him in a power bomb type move but Juvi reverses it and gets him in a face buster. Juvi then rolls Konnan over and he goes up to the top rope and goes for his 450 but Konnan rolled out of the way. Recap:
This was a pretty solid match as well. I think it went a little to long because Konnan was gassed for the last 2-3 minutes of the match. He was barely moving around the ring but Juvi’s energy hides it a little bit but not enough. The rocking horse spot was brutal and again I am surprised Juvi didn’t get injured. The finish was nice with Juvi getting the sneaky pin win considering his never surrender gimmick they were going for at this time. Two straight matches with a beat down after the match. If you do it to much it takes away from the importance of that but this one made sense, just like the first one. Juvi got the sneaky win and it pissed Konnan off so he had to get some quick revenge. All in all this was a really good match that worked and is worth checking out. We are two for two on this show as far as match quality is concerned. We will see how long this lasts.

Interview: James J. Dillon

Gene says that Dillon has some requests he needs to address. Dillon then says that earlier he was approached by the Giant and he put in a request that the power bomb be made legal. Dillon says he was very adamant in his feelings so Dillon went to the representatives of Nash and he was very happy about the request. Dillon says he went back to the Giant and the Giant was adamant that he wanted the power bomb to be legal. Dillon says for tonight, and tonight only, the power bomb will be legal for this match only.

Match 3: WCW Cruiserweight Title Match: Chris Jericho (c) vs. Dean Malenko

The match starts with a collar and elbow tie up. Malenko goes from a side head lock, to a go behind, to a drop to hold then jumps the back and gets Jericho back in a chin lock. He did all this in the matter of about 2-3 seconds. The guy was so crisp and so good. Jericho reverses it out of it and both men get to their feet. Jericho charges at Malenko and Malenko hits him with another drop toe hold. Malenko does a go behind and gets Jericho in a full nelson type move. Jericho gets back in the ring and Malenko nails him with some big right hands. Jericho falls to the mat and Malenko lays in some boots. Malenko whips Jericho into the ropes then dunks down. Jericho is going for a sling shot drop kick but his jump wasn’t very good so he ends up slapping Malenko in the chest. Jericho goes out after Malenko and just throws him back into the ring. Jericho gets back in and Malenko kicks him in the gut. Malenko whips Jericho back into the same turnbuckle and Jericho attempts to go up and over Malenko but Malenko stops and Jericho just comes down as Malenko grabs him and goes for a German suplex. Malenko army crawls his way to the ropes but Jericho pulls him back into the middle of the ring and then Jericho sits down on it and Malenko taps out. Man when he sits down on that Lion Tamer it looks incredibly painful. What a great finish. Your winner by way of submission and still the WCW Cruiserweight Champion….Chris Jericho!

After the match Gene Okerlund walks down and it looks like he is going to stop and interview Jericho in the aisle but Gene just walks right past him. Okerlund then goes in the ring and interviews Malenko. Malenko is heated in the ring because of the loss. Gene says everyone thought that Malenko was going to beat Chris Jericho. Okerlund says that the Vegas oddsmakers had Malenko as the favorite and he didn’t win. Okerlund says that this is a match that he should have won and he didn’t. Malenko, appearing to be crying, doesn’t respond to Gene. Gene says that Malenko is 0-4 in big WCW Events. Gene calls him a bonafide loser and Malenko still doesn’t say anything. Gene asks where Malenko goes from here and Malenko says “home” as he walks off.

Recap:
The match started out slow but once it picked up the pace it was really good. Malenko at the start was fast and doing all sorts of moves in a short period of time. It looked really impressive but he wasn’t really doing anything of note. The near falls and the moves they were doing off the rope were pretty damn awesome towards the end. The sit down Lion Tamer looked painful as hell and the fact that Malenko tapped the first time he was in the move for an extended period of time really solidified the finisher, in my eyes. The post match interview was done good as well. I liked the fact that Gene just skipped over Jericho because the bigger story was in the ring. Malenko, trying his best, to show some emotion didn’t look very good but the interview and his one word response was perfect to me. All in all just a great match and a great angle after the match. Pretty good stuff so far here.

They show Raven back in the internet position where he is talking about his match.

Match 4: Scott Steiner vs. Lex Luger

Steiner attacks Luger as he is getting into the ring and before the bell even rings. Steiner clubs him in the back numerous times and then he rams his head into the turnbuckle. Scott picks up the chair and tries to hit Luger with it but Luger slides out of the ring. Rick disposes of Norton and ends up in the ring with a stare down with is brother. Scott charges Rick with the chair but Rick ducks and ends up sending Scott to the outside with a back body drop. Norton picks up Scott and helps him to the back while Luger and Rick celebrate in the ring.

Recap:
They kept this match short and sweet and that made it work for both guys. They didn’t try to drag this out where it could be an ultimate stinker. It was just the right length and the action inside the ring was pretty was decent as well. The outside interference by Rick and Scott Norton was pretty good as well. It wasn’t over done and you got to see the stare down between the brothers, which is pretty damn cool and the crowd marked out for it. All in all this was a decent little match that got just enough time to not suck.

Match 5: No Disqualification WCW United States Title Match: Diamond Dallas Page (c) vs. Chris Benoit vs. Raven

Before we get started here just want to let you all know that there are no rules, no count out, and pin falls count anywhere in the building for this match. Also, all three men will be in the ring at the same time. This should be an entertaining contest so lets get to it.

DDP and Benoit exchange right hands and DDP ends up getting Benoit in a side head lock but Benoit ends up raising his leg and hitting DDP low. Raven then comes back to the action and tries to hit Benoit with a trash can but Benoit lays in a right hand and Raven drops the trash can. DDP ends up picking up the trash can and puts it on the head of Raven. DDP then grabs a pair of crutches and gives one to Benoit as they both nail the trash can with their own crutch. Both guys pick up DDP again and throw him through the Uncensored sign again. DDP goes inside the middle of the light box. Benoit then grabs a stainless steel kitchen sink and he nails Raven with it.

Raven then grabs a table and pretty much suplexes it onto Benoit. Raven then grabs a rope and starts to choke out Benoit with it. Raven grabs the table and props it up against the entrance ramp. Raven tries to whip Benoit into the table but Benoit reverses it and throws Raven into the table. Benoit picks up the rope and starts to choke out Raven with it. Benoit drags Raven back to the ringside area while choking him out with the rope. Benoit throws Raven back into the ring. Recap:
This was a really good match as well. What the hell is going on here with WCW. Anyways, the hardcore stuff worked and it wasn’t over done. The spot through the Uncensored sign was pretty damn cool as well. The table spots worked and we got the interference from the Flock to help out Raven. The triple tie-up at the start of the match was pretty sweet to see and a cool spot. Really nothing to complain about at all about this match. Really well done by all three guys and this is good match to check out.

Match 6: Kevin Nash vs. The Giant

Not sure the streak of good matches is going to carry through this one but we shall see. The Giant looks ridiculous with his neck brace. I mean he looks like a complete jackass here. The match starts out with a collar and elbow tie up between the two giants. The Giant gets the leverage and drives Nash back into the corner. The Giant goes for a big right forearm but Nash quickly gets out of the way. Nash celebrates it by acting like he has a lot of agility and ends up doing a spinning wheel kick.

They tie up again and Nash gets him Giant in a head lock and then turns it into a go behind. Nash laughs and does this smirk as if he is telling everyone that he can wrestle or something. The Giant didn’t find it to amusing so he turns around and levels Nash with a clothesline. Giant hits the ropes and ends up hitting a big elbow on Nash. He goes for it again but Nash moves out of the way the second time. Nash pulls himself up and the Giant ends up clotheslining him over the top rope. Tony tells us that a few weeks prior to this show, on Thunder, that WCW got rid of the over the top rope disqualification rule. So, it took them all this time to get rid of a dumbass rule. And what does it say that WCW only had 3 years where they didn’t have an over the top rope rule. How stupid is this shit.

Giant goes out after Nash and slams him head first into the apron. The Giant then picks up Nash and tries to take him head first into the steel post but Nash slides down and pushes the Giant into the steel post instead. Nash gets back in the ring and drops an elbow to the neck of the Giant. Giant gets back in the ring and Nash hits him with a forearm to the side of the neck and an elbow to the back of the neck. Nash then drives the head of the Giant into the top turnbuckle. Nash gets Giant into the corner and he takes his boot and chokes out the Giant with it in the corner.

Nash levels Giant with another forearm to the neck and sends the Giant back down to the mat. Nash then gets the Giant into a sleeper hold in the middle of the ring. The Giant hits a couple of back elbow to Nash to break free but Nash nails the Giant in the back with a clothesline. The Giant then falls and drapes over the middle rope so Nash hits the ropes and lands on the back of the Giant. Nash then removes the neck brace to the Giant. Nash turns the Giant around and goes for the splash again but the Giant gets his boot up and hits Nash right in the midsection with his big boot.

Nash is back to his feet and he lays in a head butt to the Giant but it hurts Nash more so than the Giant. Giant then hits Nash with his own head butt then hits him with a couple of clotheslines. Nash gets up and Giant nails him with two big time right hands. The Giant picks up Nash with ease and slams him with a body slam. The Giant drops the strap and says that he is going to hit him with a choke slam. Giant appears to go for a jackknife power bomb but Bryan Adams comes out of no where and nails the Giant with a bat to the back. Your winner by way of disqualification…..The Giant!

After the match Vincent and Konnan join in on the action and club the Giant in the back with forearms. The Giant has enough and throws both men off. Adams comes charging the Giant with his bat but the Giant blocks it and ends up head butting Adams. Giant then takes the bat and snaps it in half over his knee. Giant then picks up Vincent and drops him with a choke slam. He does the same to Konnan. He goes for a third choke slam on Adams but Nash, who has another bat, nails the Giant in the shoulder with it. Nash says he is going to go for the power bomb but the Giant starts to snap so Nash just gets out of the ring and heads to the back. The Giant gets out of the ring and starts to stalk all of the members of the nWo.

Recap:
Nothing great here really. There is only so much you can do when you can’t really lift up your opponent and Nash isn’t good enough to be innovative in a match like this. Add all of that up and you get a bad match. Nash mocking the Giant and having a good time in the match is funny but I’m sure it can rub some people the wrong way. The finish was to be expected considering they want to keep both guys strong. All in all this was a dud and not worth checking out if you ask me.

Match 7: Bret Hart vs. Curt Hennig

The SummerSlam 91 rematch. Can’t wait for this one, hopefully it’s as good as the first one. The match starts with Bret stalking Curt and Curt heads outside to talk with Rude. Curt gets back in the ring and tries to sneak up on Bret but Bret is too good for that. Hennig then slaps Bret in the face right before they tie up. They struggle a little bit during the tie up until they both break it off. They tie up for a second time and they break it off again. They tie up for a third time and Bret gets Hennig in a head lock then snaps him over. Hennig pulls the hair of Bret trying to get out of the head lock.

He drops his knee right into the knee of Bret. Hennig then starts to lay in the kicks to the leg before he drags him over to the bottom rope and he jumps up and drops down his weight on the leg of Bret.

Bret gets up to his feet and gets in the corner. Hennig drapes the leg of Bret over the middle rope and he lays in a couple of kicks to the leg. Hennig distracts the ref while Rude chokes out Bret for a moment. Hennig grabs the leg again and drags him over to the post and he slams Bret’s leg into the steel post. Hennig gets back in the ring and distracts the ref again while Rude takes Bret’s leg and wraps it around the steel and applies the pressure. Bret is trying to get to his feet and Hennig lays in a stiff kick to the midsection.

Hennig picks up Bret and gets him in the corner. Hennig then grabs the hair of Bret and throws him across the ring by it. What a great move by Hennig there. After he got done he shook his hands as if to free up the hair that he pulled out. Hennig gets Bret in the corner and he starts to taunt him and slap him a little bit. Hennig then decks Bret with a brutal right hand. Hennig then drags Bret to the middle of the ring and slaps on the figure four leg lock. Hennig gets a little assist from Rude as he grabs the hand of perfect to apply move pressure. Hennig tried to get a little more help from Rude but the ref catches him and makes him break the hold.

Hennig gets up to his feet and continues to work over the leg by kicking it in the back of the knee. Bret gets up to his feet and he gets in the corner and Hennig lays in a chop again. Bret lays in some right hands to try and get the advantages but Hennig kicks him in the leg to slow him down. Bret then goes to the other corner and lays in some kicks and punches again to Hennig. However, Hennig stops the momentum by throwing some rights of his own and then he kicks Bret in the bad leg. Hennig then grabs the leg of Bret and gets him in a spinning toe hold to continue to work the leg.

Hennig finally breaks the toe hold and he drops a leg between the legs of Bret. Hennig picks him up and body slams him. Bret then picks up Hennig and hits him with an atomic drop. Bret gets Hennig up and tries to pin him with an inside cradle but he only gets a 2 count. Bret gets Hennig up to his feet and he hits him with a bulldog out of the corner. Bret goes for the pin again and Hennig gets his foot on the rope. Bret picks up Hennig and hits him with a back breaker. Bret then climbs up to the middle rope and drops his elbow. Both men get to their feet and Bret nails him with a couple of right hands. Rude gets up on the apron to confront the ref but Bret pushes Hennig into him and he goes for the roll up but Hennig reverses it and tries to hook the tights but Bret kicks out at 2. Hennig whips Bret into the ropes but Bret reverses it and Hennig hits Bret with a sunset flip that Bret rolls out of. Rude then drops Bret with the Rude Awakening. Hennig then takes the chair and hits Bret with a chair right to the head. Hennig then stands on top of Bret with one foot and acts as if he is the victor.

Recap:
This match was no where near as good as their match at SummerSlam 91 but it’s not terrible either. There was some down spots where they did some rest holds and it seemed to go longer than it needed to be. Hennig looked out of it towards the end and was a lot slower compared to his heyday. I liked the fact that Hennig tapped out before Rude nailed him so we had a clean finish and the beat down after the match. It lets Bret win the battle but Hennig and the nWo win the war so to speak. I am interested in seeing where this feud goes so that means the match did it’s job. You don’t need to go out of your way to see this match but I wouldn’t skip it if you sat down and watched this whole show.

Match 8: WCW Heavyweight Title Match: Sting (c) vs. Scott Hall

Not really sure what to expect from this one going in but it should be good considering who’s involved. Hall gets this match for winning the World War 3 battle royal back in November. Only took 5 months to get his shot but here it is. Lets get to it.

Hall takes the belt from the ref and holds it up in the air. Sting gets pissed about this and goes to snatch it from Hall but Hall won’t let go. So Sting lays in some lefts and rights and some kicks to Hall until Hall decides to roll out of the ring to regroup. They tie up and Hall gets the advantage with an arm bar. He then lays in some shoulder blocks to Sting until he whips the arm and Sting ends up decking him with a short arm clothesline. Hall raises his arm in the air to do a test of strength maneuver. However, when Sting goes in Hall pokes him in the eye.

Hall then hits Sting with a couple of right hands and then whips Sting into the ropes. Hall goes for a hip toss but Sting reverses it and goes for his own but Hall knees Sting in the midsection then Hall nails him with a choke slam. Hall then mocks the Giant while Sting gets back up to his feet. Sting kicks Hall in the gut then runs off the ropes and slams him head first into the mat.

Sting lays in some right hands and then follows that up with a drop kick. Hall tries to fall out of the ring but he gets his feet caught in the bottom rope so he just hangs there upside down. Hall then gets consoled by Dusty Rhodes, who is ringside in the corner of Hall. Hall gets back in the ring and they tie up again. Sting hits Hall with a right hand then whips him into the ropes but Hall reverses it and Sting goes into the ropes where Dusty trips him. Sting goes out to the apron to go after Rhodes but when he turns around, Hall nails him with a clothesline. What a great looking clothesline that was. Looks like Hall literally took the head off of Sting. That was a great spot there.

Hall goes for the pin and gets a 2 count. Hall kicks Sting in the head while he is laid out on the mat. Hall picks up Sting and he nails him with a discuss punch. Hall picks up Sting and puts him in the corner and he whips him into the other corner and he follows him in with another clothesline. Hall picks up Sting and gets him in a fall away slam. Hall goes for the cover and gets a 2 count. Hall picks up Sting and lays in a right hand and then he starts to paint brush him. Sting hits Hall in the gut but Hall ends up poking sting in the eye to regain the advantage.

Hall puts Sting in a head lock but Sting ends up pushing him off into the ropes. Sting drops down while Hall goes over and they end up head butting into each other. Hall falls down to the mat and Sting ends up falling face first right into the nuts of Hall. Both guys are laid out in the ring and the ref is counting the double 10 count. Meanwhile, Hall grabs Mark Curtis (the ref), as Dusty Rhodes comes into the ring and drops his elbow. Hall crawls over and gets a 2 1/2 count. That was close.

Sting gets up to his feet and Hall lays in 4-5 right hands and Sting is starting to get riled up. Sting starts no selling and then flexes in front of Hall. Sting picks up Hall and hits him with an atomic drop. Sting then kicks Hall into the corner and ends up hitting him with a Stinger Splash to his back. Sting ends up going for the Scorpion Death Lock but Rhodes gets on the apron so Sting breaks the hold and lays out Dusty. Hall hits Sting from behind and Hall goes to whip Sting into the corner but Sting reverses it and Hall crashes into the ref in the corner.

Rhodes then tossed a foreign object into the ring and Hall ends up knocking Sting out with it. Hall falls down and pins him with 1 hand but Sting kicks out at 2 1/2. Hall says he is going for the Outsiders Edge. He picks up Sting but Sting drops down and ends up nailing Hall with the Scorpion Death Drop and he goes for the cover and gets the 3 count. Your winner by pinfall and still WCW World Heavyweight Champion…..Sting!

After the match Rhodes get in the ring as if he is going to do something but he doesn’t. Sting then drops the belt and tells Rhodes to suck before walking off a winner.

Recap:
Well this match was kind of shit. I figured it would be a lot better considering the two guys working but thats not the case here. Hall was out of it within 2-3 minutes and was wobbling around the ring as if he was in a 20 minute match. Sting looked gassed as well because this is probably only his 5th or 6th match back. The styles just didn’t mesh well and the match felt flat. Not the best work by either men and there’s really nothing special about this match at all. I wouldn’t even recommend checking it out and would consider this a skip if you were happening to watch this show. Really unfortunate considering the guys involved.

Match 9: Steel Cage Match: Hollywood Hogan vs. Macho Man Randy Savage

This shitty steel cage takes 3-4 minutes to come down from the ceiling. Also, with the Michael Buffer entrances this shit takes a good 5-6 minutes just to get these two in the ring. Also, Hogan coming down to the ring sporting a gold tooth. What the hell is he thinking? Before the match starts, Savage tries to get into the cage but Hogan is standing on the middle rope blocking him from getting into the ring. Pretty sweet looking spot there.

The bell rings and both men tie up but the lights go out so it’s hard as hell to see what exactly is going on. Hogan drives Savage into the corner. Hogan then lays in the knees to Savage and he starts choking him. Savage then falls to the mat and Hogan starts laying the boots into Savage and he starts choking him as well. Savage gets up to his feet and Hogan decks him with a right hand. Hogan grabs the head of Savage and lays in the repeated right hands. Hogan then takes his torn shirt and wraps it around the throat of Savage and chokes him out.

Hogan then punches Savage in the face as Savage falls down again. Hogan rakes the back of Savage and then whips him into the ropes and hits him with his big boot early. Hogan goes for the cover and gets a 2 count. Hogan drags Savage up by his hair and tries to ram him into the cage but Savage blocks it so Hogan rakes the back again. Hogan then whips Savage into the corner and follows him in with a clothesline. Hogan then takes his boot and chokes him out with it. Hogan picks up Savage and tries to ram him into the cage a couple of times but Savage blocks it again until Hogan rakes him in the eyes.

Hogan then decks Savage with a right hand. Hogan picks up Savage and body slams him and then goes for the elbow but Savage moved out of the way both times. Savage then gets up and hits Hogan with a double ax handle to the back. Savage then lays in some right hands and then Savage whips Hogan into the corner and he comes out and Savage hits him with a back elbow. Savage chokes out Hogan with his boot and then Hogan gets up to his feet and Savage chokes him with Hogan’s own shirt. Savage then takes his hand and rakes the eyes and nose of Hogan. Hogan falls to the mat and Savage chokes him out again.

Savage tries to throw Hogan into the cage but Hogan blocks it so Savage punches him in the gut. Savage tries to slam him into the cage again but Hogan blocks it and rakes the eyes of Savage. Hogan takes off his weight lifting belt and just nails Savage in the back with it 3-4 times. Sounds so painful. Hogan then takes his weight lifting belt and chokes him out with it in front of the camera while Hogan says “tell them who’s the man.” Hogan then nails Savage with the belt again and chokes him out again.

Hogan lays in a few knife edge chops and he continues to whip Savage in the back with the belt some more. Hogan then picks up Savage and hits him with a scoop slam. Hogan hits the ropes and goes for the leg drop but Savage moves out of the way. Hogan dropped his belt and Savage picks it up and he lays them in to the back of Hogan. Savage nails him 5-6 times before Hogan falls to the mat. Savage goes for the pin and gets a 2. Savage then takes the belt again and nails Hogan across the back and that sounded nasty. Glad it’s him and not me.

Savage picks up Hogan and finally rams him face first into the cage. Savage picks up Hogan and kicks him in the face and then he takes the belt and nails him across the back again. Man these shots are just getting louder and louder. Savage rams the head of Hogan into the cage and Savage goes for the cover and gets a 2. Savage picks up Hogan and throws him head first into the cage. Hogan gets up and Savage lays in 2 lefts then a right that sends Hogan down to the mat. Savage then hits the ropes and nails Hogan with an elbow to the face. Savage hits him with the same elbow again and sends Hogan down to the mat. Hogan gets back to his feet and Savage charges at him but Hogan anticipates it and back drops Savage into the cage.

Hogan is busted open due to a shot to the cage or something. Savage is laid out on the mat so Hogan picks up the belt and nails him in the back a few more times. Hogan finally puts the belt back on and then he picks up Savage and hits him with a belly to back suplex. Hogan goes for the cover and gets a 2 count. Hogan then picks up Savage again and rams him head first into the cage. Hogan then traps Hogan between the cage and the ropes and rams Savage head first into the cage repeatedly.

Savage falls back into the ring and Hogan picks him up and throws him into the cage again. Savage is now busted open as well. Savage gets back up to his feet and Hogan ends up throwing him into the cage again. Hogan then runs his boot into the throat of Savage and chokes him out some more. Hogan picks up Savage and decks him with a right hand. Savage struggles back to his feet as Hogan gets him in a head lock and Hogan lays in rapid succession right hands to the face of Savage.

Savage gets up to his feet and decks Savage across the back that sends him down to the mat. The ref ends up opening up the cage door as both guys leave the cage. Hogan then rams Savage into the guardrail and into the cage on the outside of the cage. Both refs are trying to get both guys into the ring. Hogan picks up Savage and throws him back into the ring. Hogan tries to ram Savage into the cage again but Savage blocks it and ends up ramming Hogan into the cage. Both guys are laid out but Savage quickly gets up to his feet and starts his come back. Savage then climbs up to the top of the cage and nails Hogan with a beautiful double ax handle off the top of the cage. What an awesome spot that was.

Savage goes for the cover but Hogan gets out at 2. Savage picks up Hogan and throws him into the cage again. Savage then lays in some boots and then takes his booth and rams into the throat of Hogan to choke him out. Savage then picks up Hogan and slams him in the middle of the ring. The Disciple comes out of no where and decks Mickey Jay. He then steals the key from the ref and gets into the ring. The Disciple then takes the other ref and throws him into the cage. The Disciple then stands in the middle of the ring and begs Savage to come down after him.

Savage drops down from the top of the cage where both Hogan and the Disciple are waiting for him. Sting then repels down into the cage to even the odds for Savage. Savage and Sting are squared off against Hogan and the Disciple as Hogan is begging them off. Sting is standing there and Savage ends up decking him with a big clothesline. Savage then picks up Sting and dumps him with a pile driver. Hogan then looks at Savage as if they are going to be partners again but Savage spits in his face and leaves the cage.

The crowd is completely dumbfounded by the outcome. They had zero reaction for Savage decking Sting. The show goes off the air with Hogan saying Savage is a part of the nWo whether he likes it or not. He also states that Savage works for him whether he likes it or not. WCW shows a logo for Spring Stampede as the show goes off the air.

Recap:
Well this match was the shits. Both guys were completely lazy and all they really did was nail each other with the weight lifting belt and ram each other into the cage. The spot off the top of the cage is always awesome, especially when Savage is the one doing it. The ending was the shits as well because the crowd could have cared less. When Savage decked Sting you could hear a pin drop in the arena and not in a good way. They weren’t stunned they just didn’t give a shit or care about what was going on. Also, for this to be the main event of a paid pay per view and there is no finish at all is complete horse shit. I would have been extremely pissed if I paid for this and this was the go home for the show. No thanks on this crap fest and it kind of puts a downer on the show as a whole. Theres absolutely nothing to see during this match so I would cut the show off minus after the World Title Match if I was you.

Show Recap:
This show started out really well with 4-5 pretty good matches to start. Then, like most WCW cards, it floundered once it go to the main event caliber matches. The opener between Eddie and Booker was probably the best match on the card. They went a little over 11 minutes but the match felt like a 5-6 minute match because of how fast they were going. Both guys are tremendous talents and were in their prime here so of course the match was really good.

Next up we have Juvi vs. Konnan, and this match was pretty decent as well. I felt like it went a couple minutes to long because Konnan was gassed late and barely moving. This match had the opposite affect compared to the first one. It went 10 minutes but felt like 15-16 because of how slow they were moving at the end. The sneaky pin finish was perfect considering the gimmick they were putting on Juvi at the time. If the match ended 2-3 minutes earlier it would have been a pretty damn good match but it went 2-3 minutes to long so it’s just okay.

After that we got Jericho vs. Malenko in a pretty solid match. They started out really slow but once they started heading toward the finish of the match it started to pick up the pace and it turned the match around and made it one of the better matches on the card. The high impact moves as well as the risks they were taking were pretty sweet looking and it really sticks out compared to some of the other matches on the card. We also had the story of Malenko getting frustrated and going home that was pretty sweet as well. All things considered, this was a really good match and post match segment.

Next up was Steiner vs. Luger. On paper, in 1998, these two had no business in the ring together because of the shit fest that was most likely to occur. However, whoever booked the match did the right thing and kept this match short and sweet before it can become said shit fest. Steiner got in some high powered offense and Luger had a quick come back and good win against Steiner. The post match stuff between Rick and Scott was short and sweet and wanting to see more. This match and post match was not a classic by any means but it wasn’t terrible either. Pretty good stuff for the time they were given..

Following that match was the United States title match with basically Raven’s rules. These three put on a pretty damn good match. They wrestled all over the ring and the entrance area. DDP got thrown through the Uncensored sign as they destroyed a set, which was pretty awesome to see. They had the table spots and the hardcore stuff but they also told a solid story and the ending was good. Just a really solid match from 3 professionals here.

This is where the show falls off the rails and only gets back on temporarily. We have Nash vs. Giant in a dud of a match that was pretty bad start to finish. A match tends to suck when all one guy can do is punch and kick or choke. It went to long and the action was slow and plodded along. This is a match you can just skip. We follow this match up with Bret vs. Curt Hennig in the SummerSlam 91/King of the Ring 93 rematch. Needless to say, in 1998, these guys couldn’t match the magic they had in their previous two bouts. Hennig looked hobbled and slow compared to Bret here and it really shows. The match was good but it wasn’t what it could have been considering the two guys that were in the match.

Next up we got the Sting vs. Scott Hall match for the WCW Title. This match wasn’t very good either. On paper it looks like a really good match but it is 1998 and Sting is full on crow gimmick while Hall is probably 2 shits to the wind going into the match. He wobbles around the ring to sell early on so it really takes away from the match and makes it feel like they have been going all night but its only been 2-3 minutes. The finish was good and the post match stuff with Sting telling Rhodes to suck it was kind of funny as well. Just a stinker here and really nothing to see and it’s a shame because both guys are so much better than they performed here.

The main event was a shit fest of epic proportions. It was nothing but belt lashes and ramming each other into the cage. We got some blood which was pretty rare for WCW in these days but thats nothing to write home about. The only good spot in the entire match was Savage coming off the cage with the ax handle. Everything else was just pure garbage. Both of these guys mailed it in and the crowd was pretty much dead for the entire thing. The finish was a joke because there was no finish. Having Sting come down to help Savage just to get attacked was a waste of time. The crowd didn’t even pop for Savage nailing Sting and that pretty much tells you all you need to know about this stinker of a main event. I would have been extremely pissed if I bought this paid event and there was no finish to the main event at all. No wonder WCW went to the shitter just three years later. Bad decisions after bad decisions.

Well that will do it for the Event Center this time around. I hope you enjoyed the show. It started out very promising then it just falls about when it got to the main event matches. Typical for a WCW PPV because of the guys who were in the main event spot just didn’t give a shit anymore. Anyways, next up we will be doing a Television Rewind from the summer of 1991. Not going to say much more but I hope you enjoy that and check it out once it drops. I hope you have enjoyed going back and reading WCW Uncensored 1998. So long from CrazyMax’s Event Center!

John Cena and Nikki Bella End Engagement, Separate After Six Years

0

Originally reported by Us Weekly, it appears that John Cena and Nikki Bella have broken up after dating since 2012. The couple sent Us Weekly the following statement:

“While this decision was a difficult one, we continue to have a great deal of love and respect for one another. We ask that you respect our privacy during this time in our lives.”

Cena proposed to Nikki at WrestleMania 33 after the duo won a mixed tag match against The Miz and Maryse.

Back in February, Cena made an appearance on TODAY to talk about the highs and lows of his relationship with Nikki. As part of the trailer for Total Bellas Season Two, the couple wondered if they were going to even have a wedding.

“I think in relationships you have highs and lows and that was an extreme low,” Cena admitted. “You either have two choices: you either jump ship and start a new relationship or move forward and try to work through it. And we’re gonna move forward and try to work through it.”

In January, the couple had an engagement party and during his TODAY appearance, Cena was asked directly if the wedding was still on. He didn’t really say yes or no, but at that time they were still working on things.

“Like I said, we both have some work to do and we’re genuinely trying our best to work through it,” Cena said. “So, I’m very happy to say that it’s a situation that we’re working through. We haven’t yet jumped ship.”

Nikki Bella tweeted out a statement shortly after the news broke:

Cena posted this earlier today on his Instagram where he only posts photos without an explanation.
