Date: January 2nd, 2014 Unlike when I completed a review of a DDT show a few days ago, at least I have reviewed a Big Japan match in the last five years so I am pretty familiar with their product. I don’t watch Big Japan much since I am not a big fan of some styles of hardcore deathmatches, but as always I go in with an open mind and I do see some wrestlers I enjoy on the card so I am sure there will be more good than bad here. Here is the full card:<\/p>\n – Takayuki Ueki vs. Yuichi Taniguchi I’m not feeling too squeamish, so let’s get started!<\/p>\n <\/strong>Tie-up to start, side headlock by Taniguchi and he takes Ueki to the mat, headscissors by Ueki but Taniguchi quickly gets out of it.\u00a0 Wristlock by Taniguchi and he hits an armdrag takedown.\u00a0 Taniguchi pulls Ueki back to his feet but Ueki rolls out of the hold and reverses the wristlock.\u00a0 Taniguchi rolls out of it as well, hammerlock by Taniguchi and he rolls up Ueki for a two count.\u00a0 Back up, wristlock by Ueki but Taniguchi hits a drop toehold before applying a stretch hold and then a crossface.\u00a0 Ueki inches to the ropes and forces a break.\u00a0 Taniguchi picks up Ueki, Irish whip, and Taniguchi delivers a back elbow.\u00a0 Reverse chinlock by Taniguchi, he picks up Ueki and hits a scoop slam.\u00a0 Elbow drop by Taniguchi, cover, but it gets a two count.\u00a0 Taniguchi picks up Ueki but Ueki elbows him off.\u00a0 Ueki goes off the ropes and he catches Taniguchi with a crossbody for a two count.\u00a0 Ueki clubs Taniguchi into the corner, he gets a running start and hits a back elbow strike.\u00a0 He gets a running start again and this time hits a dropkick on Taniguchi in the corner.\u00a0 Scoop slam by Ueki, cover, but Taniguchi kicks out at two.\u00a0 Ueki picks up Taniguchi and clubs him into the corner again, he gets another running start but this time Taniguchi moves out of the way and hits a running double chop to the throat.\u00a0 Jawbreaker by Taniguchi and he hits the Northern Lights Suplex for a two count.\u00a0 Taniguchi puts Ueki in a single leg crab hold and Ueki quickly taps out.\u00a0 Your winner:\u00a0 Yuichi Taniguchi<\/p>\n Match Thoughts:<\/strong>\u00a0 A really simple match but it still had its issues.\u00a0 Ueki\u2019s strikes didn\u2019t look like they hurt at all but Taniguchi still stood there and took two long developing strikes anyway.\u00a0 I kept expecting him to move if nothing else to teach Ueki to make his offense look stronger.\u00a0 The ending was expected but Ueki still has some work to do just judging from this one match.\u00a0\u00a0Score:\u00a0 3.5<\/span><\/p>\n <\/strong>Jake and Hoshino start things off.\u00a0 Tie-up, wristlock by Hoshino into a hammerlock, but Jake hits a side headlock takedown.\u00a0 Headscissors by Hoshino but Jake quickly gets out of it.\u00a0 Tie-up, Hoshino pushes Jake back into the corner and he slaps him in the chest.\u00a0 Kicks by Hoshino in the corner and he charges Jake, but Jake pulls himself up to the top turnbuckle and hits a diving crossbody.\u00a0 Hoshino comes back with a quick trip and both men return to their feet.\u00a0 Jake tags in Dave while Inaba is also tagged in.\u00a0 Dave goes off the ropes and they collide with no result, Inaba then pretends to go off the ropes but instead rakes Dave in the eyes.\u00a0 Shoulderblock by Inaba but Dave comes back with a dropkick.\u00a0 Standing moonsault by Dave, cover, but it gets a two count.\u00a0 Hoshino runs in the ring but Dave hits a lariat on both of them, but they regain the advantage.\u00a0 Dave kicks them both back and hits an overhead kick onto Inaba.\u00a0 Inaba falls out of the ring, Dave gets a running start in the ring and hits a tope con giro onto Inaba while Jake hits a moonsault at the same time to the floor onto Hoshino.\u00a0 Dave slides Inaba back into the ring, cover by Dave but it gets a two count.<\/p>\n Dave picks up Inaba but Inaba kicks him in the leg and chest.\u00a0 STO by Inaba and he makes the tag to Hoshino.\u00a0 Hoshino goes on the second turnbuckle and hits a diving hip attack.\u00a0 Hoshino picks up Dave with a gut wrench hold and slams him over his head, cover, but it gets a two count.\u00a0 Hoshino goes to pick up Dave but Dave kicks him and tag in Jake.\u00a0 Lariat by Jake to Hoshino, cover, but it gets two.\u00a0 Jake is up first, he picks up Hoshino, Irish whip from the corner, reversed, and Hoshino kicks him low.\u00a0 Inaba comes in the ring; Inaba hits a lariat onto Jake in the corner as does Hoshino.\u00a0 Double vertical suplex to Jake and Hoshino hits a running doublestomp.\u00a0 Senton by Inaba, cover, but Dave breaks it up.\u00a0 Inaba throws Dave out of the ring while Hoshino picks up Jake, Inaba goes off the ropes but Jake throws Hoshino into Inaba.\u00a0 Enzigieri by Jake onto Hoshino, he grabs Inaba and snaps his neck over the second rope.\u00a0 With his head still hanging over the second rope, Jake and Dave then both hit dropkicks from the floor onto Inaba.\u00a0 Dave then holds Inaba for Jake, and Jake delivers a superkick.\u00a0 Inaba falls out of the ring, Jake grabs Hoshino and with Dave they deliver the Killing Spree.\u00a0 Cover, and they pick up the three count!\u00a0 Your winners:\u00a0 Jake Crist and Dave Crist<\/p>\n Match Thoughts:<\/strong>\u00a0 This match was really fun, but it worries me when four minutes of a nine minute match is taken out in a sneaky manner.\u00a0 What was the other half of the match like?\u00a0 But the part that they showed was quite entertaining, I had never seen the Crist brothers (aka Irish Airborne) before but they have some unique moves and added a layer of unknown to the match for me as I never knew what was coming next.\u00a0 For a clipped undercard match, no complaints at all, and it piqued my interest to see if there is a reason the match was clipped or if this is a tag team I should be more aware of.\u00a0Score:\u00a0 6.5<\/span><\/p>\n <\/strong>They brawl before the bell rings, with Oosugi getting attacked by the Brahmans in the ring.\u00a0 Double Irish whip to the corner, Oosugi avoids one and kicks back the second, and Madoka comes off the top turnbuckle with a diving crossbody onto both of them.\u00a0 The Brahmans are dropkicked out of the ring, and Senga is tagged in.\u00a0 The Brahmans and Shinobu all get into the ring, but step back when they see that Senga now has a shaved head.<\/p>\n Kicks by the Brahmans but they keep sliding off his head when going for a side headlock.\u00a0 Eventually all three jump him and send Senga into the corner, they get a big metal box and send a bowling ball into it, but it doesn\u2019t work and Shinobu ends up getting hurt.\u00a0 Senga is pushes into a different corner and has water splashed on him.\u00a0 Shinobu slaps Senga into the corner, Irish whip, but Senga avoids the charging Shinobu and hits an enzigieri.\u00a0 Senga tags in Madoka, Madoka kicks Shinobu out of the ring and then does the same to both the Brahmans.\u00a0 Irish whip to the corner and Madoka hits a running kick.<\/p>\n Oosugi comes in the ring, they stack the Brahmans in the corner and get the metal box.\u00a0 Madoka sets it up at the Brahmans groin, Senga gets back in the ring and they use his head as a bowling ball, which rams the box into the Brahmans.\u00a0 And hurts Senga.\u00a0 Senga recovers, then all three men hit tope con giros onto their opponents outside of the ring.\u00a0 Madoka slides Shinobu back into the ring, he goes up to the top turnbuckle and hits a missile dropkick.\u00a0 Cover, but it gets a two count.\u00a0 Madoka puts Shinobu on his shoulders but Shinobu gets out of it and delivers a kick combination.\u00a0 Shinobu goes off the ropes but Madoka blocks the strike, Madoka goes off the ropes but Shinobu levels him with a lariat.\u00a0 Cover, but it gets two.<\/p>\n Shinobu picks up Madoka and slams him in front of the corner, he goes up to the top turnbuckle but Madoka recovers and pulls his pants down, exposing his ass.\u00a0 The Brahmans come in the ring from behind and shove Madoka face-first into Shinobu\u2019s exposed rear, Shinobu picks up Madoka and holds him for the Brahmans but Oosugi and Senga run back into the ring.\u00a0 Oosugi are thrown out of the ring but by now Madoka is mostly recovered and he moves out of the way of the sign attack, causing Shinobu to get hit.\u00a0 Madoka then hits the Ranhei onto Shinobu, cover, and he picks up the three count.\u00a0 Your winners:\u00a0 Madoka, Tsutomu Oosugi, and Hercules Senga<\/p>\n Match Thoughts:<\/strong>\u00a0 With this low quality video I couldn\u2019t tell the Brahmans apart, luckily they did everything together so it didn\u2019t actively matter.\u00a0 This kind of match always leaves me annoyed more than anything else, as some of the wrestlers in it are quite skilled but this type of match doesn\u2019t really give them a chance to show it.\u00a0 It is more just goofy nonsense, which is fine but I just know they are capable of more.\u00a0 Plus let\u2019s face it, the Brahmans are pretty useless.\u00a0 But using Senga\u2019s head as a bowling ball was cute and there certainly were no boring parts, so it wasn\u2019t a complete wash.\u00a0\u00a0Score:\u00a0 4.5<\/span><\/p>\n <\/strong>They brawl to start the match, taking it outside the ring.\u00a0 MASADA pairs with Shimizu and throws him into a row of chairs while Takahashi is thrown into a column.\u00a0 MASADA comes over and grabs Inematsu, taking him back to ringside and elbowing him in the head.\u00a0 MASADA gets a chair seat and hits Inematsu repeatedly in the head while elsewhere Takahashi hits Shimizu with a chair.\u00a0 Inematsu throws MASADA into the ring post as Shimizu slides Takahashi into the ring.\u00a0 Inematsu and Takahashi are in the ring with chairs and swing them at each other, Inematsu gets the better of it and hits Takahashi in the back.\u00a0 He goes to hit him again but MASADA comes in the ring and takes the chair from him.\u00a0 MASADA hits Inematsu with a chair and hits a lariat onto him and Shimizu.\u00a0 MASADA sets up chair up in the ring upside down and hiptosses Shimizu into it.\u00a0 Inematsu kicks MASADA and they trade headbutts.<\/p>\n Inematsu goes off the ropes and he hits a Polish Hammer, cover, but Takahashi breaks it up.\u00a0 Takahashi throws Inematsu into the corner and hits a splash followed by a vertical suplex.\u00a0 Cover, but it gets two.\u00a0 Scoop slam by Takahashi, he gets a stack of chairs and puts it onto Inematsu.\u00a0 Rolling senton by Takahashi to Inematsu on the chairs, cover, but Inematsu kicks out.\u00a0 Takahashi picks up Inematsu and goes for a German suplex, but Inematsu blocks it.\u00a0 Shimizu hits Takahashi in the back with a chair and hits a backdrop suplex.\u00a0 Shimizu grabs Takahashi and goes for a Fisherman Buster but MASADA comes in the ring and breaks it up.\u00a0 MASADA powerbombs Shimizu onto a chair, cover, but Inematsu breaks it up.\u00a0 Takahashi takes Inematsu out of the ring, while in the ring MASADA stabs Shimizu in the face, sticking sticks of some sort into his head.\u00a0 MASADA picks up Shimizu and hits a brainbuster, he then picks up Shimizu and hits a second brainbuster.\u00a0 Cover, and he picks up the three count.\u00a0 Your winner:\u00a0 MASADA and Masaya Takahashi<\/p>\n Match Thoughts:<\/strong>\u00a0 Well besides the ending being a bit unnecessary (stabbing someone in the face seems a bit harsh for a clipped mid-card match), at least the brainbuster made sense as a finisher since he had sticks jabbing out of his head.\u00a0 Not all of this was shown which is surprising since it was only an eight minute match in the first place.\u00a0 Pretty basic brawling with nothing to set it apart, at least not in a positive way anyway.\u00a0\u00a0Score:\u00a0 4.0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/strong>Hashimoto greets Kanemoto while he is still on the apron before the match starts and the two trade blows.\u00a0 Hashimoto goes outside the ring and brings Kanemoto with him, but they are separated since the match didn\u2019t start yet.\u00a0 Kanemoto gets in the ring and Hashimoto does as well, and they both hit lariats on each other.\u00a0 Hashimoto and Kanemoto trade elbows and then punches, Kanemoto goes off the ropes but Hashimoto kicks him.\u00a0 Hashimoto goes off the ropes but Kanemoto kicks him back as well.\u00a0 Kick combination by Kanemoto but Hashimoto pushes them back and both wrestlers hit high kicks on each other.\u00a0 Back up they trade elbows again and then slaps, back kick by Hashimoto and he goes off the ropes, but Kanemoto kicks him in the stomach.\u00a0 Hashimoto ducks a high kick but Kanemoto applies the cross armbreaker.\u00a0 Hashimoto gets a foot on the ropes to break the hold, punches by Kanemoto and he knees Hashimoto in the corner.\u00a0 Hashimoto punches him back and throws Kanemoto in the corner before hitting Kanemoto down to a seated position.\u00a0 Facewash by Hashimoto but Kanemoto catches his foot when he goes for the running one and trips Hashimoto.\u00a0 Kick to the face by Kanemoto, he picks up Hashimoto and throws him down in the corner.<\/p>\n Kanemoto now hits the Facewash in the corner, ending with a pair of running ones.\u00a0 Kanemoto picks up Hashimoto and hits a piledriver.\u00a0 Cover, but Hashimoto kicks out at two.\u00a0 Kicks to the body and head by Kanemoto, he goes to run off the ropes but Hashimoto grabs him around the waist.\u00a0 Kanemoto elbows out of it and goes off the ropes anyway but Hashimoto hits a lariat.\u00a0 Hashimoto picks up Kanemoto and elbows Kanemoto, Irish whip, reversed, but Hashimoto moves when Kanemoto runs in and kicks him into the corner.\u00a0 Running Facewash in the corner by Hashimoto and he delivers a dropkick.\u00a0 Hashimoto picks up Kanemoto and hits a snap DDT, he picks him up again and kicks him in the side of the head.\u00a0 Cover by Hashimoto, but Kanemoto kicks out.\u00a0 Hashimoto picks up Kanemoto again and hits the Falcon Arrow, he goes off the ropes and delivers the PK.\u00a0 Cover, but again Kanemoto gets a shoulder up.<\/p>\n Both wrestlers slowly get up and they trade elbows and slaps while on their knees, they get back on their feet while continuing to trade strikes until a jumping kick by Kanemoto sends Hashimoto to the mat.\u00a0 Cover by Kanemoto but it gets a two count.\u00a0 Kanemoto goes up to the top turnbuckle and delivers the moonsault, cover, but it still gets two.\u00a0 Kanemoto picks up Hashimoto and applies the Ankle Hold.\u00a0\u00a0 Hashimoto is eventually able to make it to the ropes, Kanemoto kicks Hashimoto in the leg until he falls down and re-applies the Ankle Hold.\u00a0 Hashimoto quickly reverses it into an Ankle Hold of his own, but Kanemoto reverses it back.\u00a0 Hashimoto reverses it back again, but Kanemoto is able to reverse the Ankle Hold yet again.\u00a0 This time Hashimoto can\u2019t reverse it and he taps out.\u00a0 Your winner:\u00a0 Koji Kanemoto<\/p>\n Match Thoughts:<\/strong>\u00a0 What an odd little match.\u00a0 The first large chunk of the match was really good but the random trading Ankle Holds at the end was bizarre.\u00a0 They had done no real leg work leading up to that point and were mostly just doing strikes and kicks.\u00a0 Then suddenly they decided to trade Ankle Holds until Kanemoto won.\u00a0 I liked that Kanemoto gave Hashimoto an equal amount of offense and Hashimoto did a good job portraying the underdog trying to overthrow the veteran, I just wasn\u2019t a big fan of the ending.\u00a0\u00a0Score:\u00a0 6.0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/strong>There are the trap contraptions in two of the corners, where if a button is pushed light tubes come down and hit the person in the corner.\u00a0 They brawl to start the match, going outside of the ring.\u00a0 Miyamoto and Kasai eventually get in the ring, Kasai tries to push Miyamoto into one of the traps but Miyamoto fights back.\u00a0 Irish whip by Kasai to the other corner but Miyamoto slides down.\u00a0 They trade punches, knee by Miyamoto and he tries to throw Kasai into the trap, but Kasai slams on the breaks.\u00a0 Kasai throws Miyamoto towards the trap but Miyamoto slides out of the ring.\u00a0 Meanwhile Takeda and Ito get into the ring, and Takeda breaks a light tube onto Ito.<\/p>\n Irish whip by Takeda to the corner, and Ito sets off the trap.\u00a0 Ito stays there as Miyamoto and Havoc get into the ring, but Miyamoto flips them both down to the mat.\u00a0 Kasai and Numazawa get in the ring now and they slam Havoc to the mat.\u00a0 Takeda hits a running dropkick onto Havoc, cover, but Havoc kicks out.\u00a0 Numazawa gets a chair and sets it up in the ring, they pick up Havoc\u00a0 and suplex him onto the chair.\u00a0 Cover by Numazawa, but Miyamoto breaks it up.\u00a0 Takeda punches Miyamoto into the corner and they all hit running strikes onto Miyamoto.\u00a0 Numazawa and Miyamoto pick up Miyamoto but Ito comes off the top turnbuckle with a missile dropkick onto both of them.\u00a0 Kasai gets a light tube but Ito kicks it back into his face.<\/p>\n Miyamoto and Numazawa are sent for an Irish whip, and all three of their opponents kick them to the mat and hit elbow drops.\u00a0 Most wrestlers leave the ring leaving Miyamoto and Kasai, Miyamoto goes up to the top turnbuckle but Kasai blocks the diving clothesline.\u00a0 Irish whip by Kasai to the corner but Miyamoto hits a lariat.\u00a0 Miyamoto picks up Kasai and slams him in front of the corner, he goes up to the top turnbuckle with a light tube, but Kasai has recovered.\u00a0 Kasai picks up Miyamoto and slams him into the light tubes in the corner, lariat by Kasai and a cover, but it gets a two count.\u00a0 Numazawa comes in the ring and drops Miyamoto with the Schwein, Kasai goes up to the top turnbuckle and hits the Pearl Harbor Splash, cover, but it is broken up.\u00a0 Havoc and Takeda trade punches in the ring, waistlock by Takeda, Havoc goes off the ropes but Takeda hits a release German suplex.<\/p>\n Takeda goes off the ropes and hits a knee to the chest, cover, but it gets a two count.\u00a0 Takeda picks up Havoc and tries to slam him into the remaining trap, but Havoc blocks it.\u00a0 Miyamoto comes in the ring and dropkicks Takeda in the chest, which knocks both him and Havoc into the corner, setting off the trap.\u00a0 Miyamoto grabs Takeda and hits the Yankee Driver, cover, but Kasai breaks it up.\u00a0 Numazawa comes in the ring as well, double Irish whip to Miyamoto but he hits the handstand rebound elbow strike.\u00a0 They call out of the ring and Miyamoto sails out onto both of them with a tope con giro.\u00a0 In the ring Havoc puts Takeda on his back and hits a Death Valley Driver.\u00a0 Ito then comes off the top turnbuckle with the Dragon Splash, cover, and he picks up the three count.\u00a0 Your winners:\u00a0 Yuko Miyamoto, Ryuji Ito, and Danny Havoc<\/p>\n Match Thoughts:<\/strong>\u00a0 The corner mouse traps to me are a bit overly contrived, which Big Japan enjoys doing, as I don\u2019t think it would hurt any worse than just being thrown into a bundle of light tubes.\u00a0 Anyway for this type of brawl it was fine, but the match was too short and had too many people to really get into a groove.\u00a0 It was mostly just a few minutes of brawling, wrestlers hit their finishing moves, and one team wins.\u00a0 Nothing terrible, just an average match.\u00a0\u00a0Score:\u00a0 5.0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/strong>Shuji and Kawakami start things off.\u00a0 Waistlock by Kawakami, Shuji reverses it into a wristlock but Kawakami reverses that into a hammerlock.\u00a0 Side headlock by Shuji and he takes Kawakami to the mat, headscissors by Kawakami but Shuji gets out of it and both men are back to their feet.\u00a0 Shuji tags in Okabayashi while Kawakami tags in Shinya.\u00a0 Shinya and Okabayashi circle each other, tie-up, wristlock by Shinya but Okabayashi reverses it.\u00a0 Hammerlock by Shinya into a side headlock, Okabayashi Irish whips out of it and the two collide with neither man going down.<\/p>\n Shinya goes off the ropes with the same result, he goes off the ropes again, Okabayashi next goes off the ropes but Shinya catches him with a dropkick.\u00a0 Shinya picks up Okabayashi and elbows him in the back of the head, elbows by Okabayashi in the corner and he tags in Kawakami.\u00a0 Stomp by Kawakami, snapmare, and he applies a reverse chinlock and he elbows Okabayashi in the back of the head.\u00a0 Kawakami punches Okabayashi into the corner and tags in Shinya.\u00a0 Wristlock takedown by Shinya and he applies a headscissors, but Okabayashi gets a foot on the ropes.\u00a0 Shinya tags in Kawakami, stomps by Kawakami into the corner and he hits a series of back elbows.\u00a0 Irish whip by Kawakami out of the corner, reversed, Kawakami applies a side headlock as Okabayashi charges in but Okabayashi gets out of it with a backdrop suplex.<\/p>\n This gives Okabayashi time to tag in Shuji, Shuji knocks Shinya off the apron and then throws Kawakami into the corner.\u00a0 Running lariat by Shuji, he slams Kawakami in front of the corner and hits a second turnbuckle doublestomp.\u00a0 Cover, but it gets a two count.\u00a0 Shuji picks up Kawakami, Irish whip, and he knees Kawakami in the stomach.\u00a0 Shuji picks up Kawakami and applies an arm trapped choke.\u00a0 Kawakami wiggles to the ropes and gets a foot on the bottom rope to force a break.\u00a0 Shuji picks up Kawakami and goes for a slam but Kawakami gets out of it.\u00a0 Waistlock by Kawakami, Shuji elbows out of the hold but Kawakami elbows him back and the two trade blows.<\/p>\n Kawakami gets the better of it at first but Shuji hits a knee, Kawakami comes back with a German suplex but Shuji hits a running knee as Kawakami gets up.\u00a0Both men tag out, Shinya applies a sleeper to Okabayashi, Okabayashi elbows out of it but Shinya hits an elbow.\u00a0 Okabayashi chops Shinya down to the mat before hitting a running powerslam, cover, but it gets a two count.\u00a0 Okabayashi picks up Shinya and puts him in the Argentine Backbreaker, but Shinya punches out of it.\u00a0 Octopus Hold by Shinya but Shuji breaks it up.\u00a0 Kawakami comes in and throws Shuji out of the ring, while in the ring Shinya picks up Okabayashi and elbows him into the corner.\u00a0 Irish whip by Shinya and he hits a pair of running elbow smashes, cover, but Okabayashi kicks out.<\/p>\n Reverse chinlock by Shinya and he applies a sleeper with a body scissors.\u00a0 Okabayashi gets a foot on the ropes to break it up, Shinya picks up Okabayashi and hits a series of elbows.\u00a0 Cover, but it gets two.\u00a0 Shinya goes off the ropes but Okabayashi ducks the lariat and puts Shinya in the Argentine Backbreaker again.\u00a0 Kawakami runs in to break it up, Shuji then comes in and throws Kawakami out of the ring.\u00a0 Shuji stays in the ring, they throw Shinya into the corner and both men hit strikes.\u00a0 Lariat by Okabayashi, cover, but it only gets a two count.\u00a0 Okabayashi picks up Shinya and goes for a powerbomb but Shinya gets out of it.\u00a0 Shinya goes for the Octopus Hold but Okabayashi pushes him off and they trade elbows and chops.\u00a0 Okabayashi goes off the ropes, elbow by Shinya and he hits a jumping kick.\u00a0 Irish whip by Shinya but Okabayashi slams on the breaks when he goes for a dropkick.\u00a0 Okabayashi runs off the ropes and hits a lariat, cover, and he picks up the three count.\u00a0 Your winners:\u00a0 Shuji Ishikawa and Yuji Okabayashi<\/p>\n Match Thoughts:<\/strong>\u00a0 It felt like this match ended too soon.\u00a0 They were still going neck and neck, trading holds, and suddenly Okabayashi wins out of nowhere with a lariat.\u00a0 And it is not like the lariat is his death move as he had already hit others in the match, this match just seemed more to fuel the Kawakami vs. Shuji feud than anything else (they brawled after the match ended).\u00a0 But the match was still good, there were some solid strike exchanges and \u201cbig man\u201d action.\u00a0 It just felt like it wasn\u2019t ready to be over yet before it was over.\u00a0\u00a0Score:\u00a0 6.5<\/span><\/p>\n <\/strong>This match is for the Big Japan Death Match Heavyweight Championship.\u00a0 \u00a0Just to summarize the pre-match weapons lineup \u2013 two sides of the rings have light tubes attached to the ropes. \u00a0Kodaka brought down a ladder which is lying in the ring, and Tsukamoto brought in what looks like the steel steps (without the steps) on a metal pole.\u00a0 Tie-up to start, Tsukamoto pushes Kodaka into the ropes, Kodaka switches positions with him and gives a clean break.\u00a0 Waistlock by Kodaka, reversed into a wristlock by Tsukamoto but Kodaka reverses it back.\u00a0 Side headlock takedown by Kodaka but Tsukamoto gets out of it and kicks him in the stomach.\u00a0 Irish whip by Tsukamoto towards the light tubes but Kodaka slams on the breaks, Kodaka then avoids a Tsukamoto charge but Tsukamoto stops before hitting the tubes.<\/p>\n Irish whip by Tsukamoto and Kodaka goes back-first into the light tubes, but he dropkicks Tsukamoto who goes into the light tubes as well.\u00a0 Tsukamoto rolls outside the ring as does Kodaka, Kodaka grabs a tube and hits Tsukamoto in the face with it.\u00a0 Kodaka jabs the light tube into Tsukamoto\u2019s face, but Tsukamoto gets a light tube and breaks it over Kodaka\u2019s head before returning the favor.\u00a0 Kodaka kicks Tsukamoto low and punches him into the stands, sitting Tsukamoto in a chair.\u00a0 Kodaka then runs around the ring and goes for a running knee but Tsukamoto moves out of the way.\u00a0 Tsukamoto gets back into the ring with Kodaka slowly following, but Tsukamoto hits Kodaka as he gets onto the apron.\u00a0 Dragon screw leg whip by Tsukamoto in the ropes, he then grabs a pair of light tubes and sets them down in the ring.<\/p>\n Tsukamoto grabs Kodaka and goes for a Fisherman Buster but Kodaka elbows out of it and slams Tsukamoto onto the light tubes.\u00a0 Kodaka grabs a bunch of light tubes and kicks them into Tsukamoto\u2019s back.\u00a0 Kodaka picks up Tsukamoto, Tsukamoto punches him off but Kodaka kicks him and then kicks some light tubes into his chest.\u00a0 Kodaka goes off the ropes but Tsukamoto ducks, Kodaka goes off the ropes again but this time Tsukamoto hits a scoop slam.\u00a0 Irish whip by Tsukamoto from the corner and Kodaka goes full speed into the ladder.\u00a0 Tsukamoto then throws Kodaka into the other corner and connects with a superkick.\u00a0 Tsukamoto gets the ladder and lays it down flat in the middle of the ring, he picks up Kodaka and goes for a suplex on the ladder but Kodaka blocks it.\u00a0 Kodaka goes for a suplex but Tsukamoto blocks that, and then Tsukamoto hits a Fisherman Suplex onto the ladder.\u00a0 Cover, but it gets a two count.\u00a0 Tsukamoto gets his metal box on a pole and goes up to the top turnbuckle, but Kodaka moves when he jumps off.<\/p>\n Kodaka then grabs it and rams Tsukamoto with it.\u00a0 Kodaka throws the weapon in the corner, he then goes up to the top turnbuckle and hits a diving crossbody, but Tsukamoto rolls through it for a two count.\u00a0 Back up they trade elbows which Kodaka gets the better of, he puts a light tube down in the middle of the ring and scoop slams Tsukamoto onto it.\u00a0 Tsukamoto quickly gets back up, puts down his own light tubes and slams Kodaka into them.\u00a0 Kodaka gets back up, gets a bunch of light tubes and again slams Tsukamoto into them.\u00a0 Tsukamoto returns to his feet, puts down more light tubes and slams Kodaka into them, Kodaka gets up and slams Tsukamoto, and the two trade body slams back and forth.\u00a0 Both men end up exhausting themselves, Kodaka is up first and hits a backdrop suplex.<\/p>\n Kodaka sets up the super tall ladder near the corner, he slams Tsukamoto in front of it and puts a bundle of light tubes on top of him.\u00a0 Kodaka climbs to the top of the ladder but Tsukamoto is up and shakes it.\u00a0 Kodaka falls down to the turnbuckle, he then climbs the ladder with the light tube bundle while Kodaka climbs the other side.\u00a0 Tsukamoto hits Kodaka with the light tubes, he then grabs Kodaka and hits a vertical suplex from the top of the ladder down to the mat.\u00a0 Tsukamoto gets a bunch of light tubes onto Kodaka\u2019s chest and hits a senton out of the corner, he then goes up top with his metal box on a pole and hits Kodaka in the head with it.\u00a0 Tsukamoto hits Kodaka with it again, he picks up Kodaka and goes for the Killswitch, but Kodaka blocks it.\u00a0 Tiger suplex hold by Tsukamoto, but Kodaka kicks out at two.<\/p>\n Tsukamoto picks up Kodaka, scoop slam in front of the ladder, and Tsukamoto climbs halfway up, but Kodaka rolls out of the way of the twisting senton.\u00a0 Big boot by Kodaka and he drops Tsukamoto with a brainbuster, cover, but it gets two.\u00a0 Kodaka grabs a bundle of light tubes, puts it on Tsukamoto\u2019s chest and goes up to the top of the ladder, nailing the double knee drop.\u00a0 Cover, but it only gets a two count.\u00a0 Kodaka picks up Tsukamoto, he goes off the ropes but he misses the Isamuashi Zan.\u00a0 Superkick by Tsukamoto, cover, but it gets a two count.\u00a0 Tsukamoto gets the ladder and lays it down in the middle of the ring, he then puts some light tubes on it as well.\u00a0 Tsukamoto picks up Kodaka and hits the Killswitch onto the light tubes and ladder, cover, but Kodaka kicks out at two.\u00a0 Tsukamoto puts some light tubes onto Kodaka, he goes up to the top turnbuckle but Kodaka is up and hits Tsukamoto from behind.<\/p>\n Kodaka then joins Tsukamoto, but Tsukamoto elbows him off.\u00a0 Kodaka comes back and climbs up top again, but again Tsukamoto elbows him off.\u00a0 Kodaka does a kip-up and hits Tsukamoto before he can do a move, he goes up top again and this time he hits a side Russian leg sweep off the top turnbuckle.\u00a0 Kodaka gets some light tubes but Tsukamoto ducks his attack and hits an enzigieri.\u00a0 Kodaka tosses Tsukamoto some light tubes and punches him in the chest, but Tsukamoto blocks the Isamuashi Zan.\u00a0 Quick kick to the head by Kodaka, he goes off the ropes and this time is able to deliver the Isamuashi Zan.\u00a0 Cover, and he picks up the three count.\u00a0 Your winner and still champion:\u00a0 Isami Kodaka<\/p>\n Match Thoughts:<\/strong>\u00a0I gotta be honest, I am just kind of over the light tubes.\u00a0 I understand why they use them, it adds some intrigue but do minimal actual damage to the body (obviously they get cut up from rolling around the ring in them but they tend to be superficial cuts, not gushers).\u00a0 But I have seen them so many times that it has lost any type of \u2018wow\u2019 factor.\u00a0 On the plus side, they didn\u2019t spent a lot of time setting up these big moves which happens sometimes and they kept a decent pace throughout the match.\u00a0 The dueling body slams was odd but I guess that is the hardcore version of running off the ropes and trying to knock your opponent over.\u00a0 It wasn\u2019t bad, I just was waiting for most the match for the bigger spots such as the ones using the ladder that to me were more exciting, such as the diving double knee drop.\u00a0 I know the light tubes aren\u2019t going anywhere, I just like a little variety in my death matches.\u00a0\u00a0Score:\u00a0 6.0<\/span><\/p>\n Best Match:<\/strong>\u00a0Shinya Ishikawa and Ryuichi Kawakami vs. Shuji Ishikawa and Yuji Okabayashi<\/strong>.
