Occhi went to aid Martin, the bell sounded, Henning released the hold, and the house lights went on. But since no referee had declared a winner, the match was restarted with Occhi as the official and Rogers got the pin over a disappointed Henning. The next week, Pian and Muchnick held a hearing. The win was taken away from Rogers, and the match declared no decision. Rogers was ruled unable to appear in Missouri until he gave Henning a rematch.
