Promoter Bob Luce has installed 1,000 extra seats for Saturday\u2019s International Ampitheatre card in anticipation of an all-time indoor record turnout for Chicago that may exceed 12,300.<\/p>\n

The arena normally seats 11,000 for wrestling. The Amphitheatre record is 12,011 set Dec. 9, 1960- when standing room was permitted.<\/p>\n

The headline event is what Luce calls a \u201cnatural\u201d attraction pitting world champion Verne Gagne against 27 year old Blackjack Lanza, a virtual unknown preliminary wrestler until a year ago. Lanza is undefeated in 12 straight Chicago bouts beginning Aug. 11, 1967.<\/p>\n

Lanza has the statistical edge. He outweighs Gagne by 44 pounds, 276 to 232, and is taller by seven inches.<\/p>\n

In Chicago bouts this year Lanza has beaten Wilbur Snyder, The Crusher, Igor Vodik, Big Luke and Pat O\u2019Connor in that order. It will be the first time Gagne has ever wrestled Lanza.<\/p>\n

No idea which newspaper published the above article. I found the article in Terry Robert Justice\u2019s book of the year 1968.<\/p>\n
