GFW Owner and Bullet Club member Jeff Jarrett recently appeared on the V2 Wrestling Podcast to talk about a variety of topics including CM Punk, Vince Russo and his wrestling career.<\/p>\n
After speculation that Global Force Wrestling would be similar to the NWA, in that it would be a promotion as opposed to an alliance, Jarrett provided an emphatic answer.<\/p>\n
“The short answer is yes,” Jarrett said, pointing out that there are several things behind the scenes that have to be wrapped up first. “in the next 4-6 weeks, the first announcement will be coming.”<\/p>\n
Jarrett’s relationship with Vince Russo has received attention of late as Russo’s name has popped up in headlines here and there, but Jarrett said that he doesn’t plan on having Russo involved with the company as of now.<\/p>\n
Jarrett says that he’ll be handling matchmaker\/booking duties himself. This appears to be different from when he had this role in TNA, as he considers himself semi-retired from the ring.<\/p>\n
“No, my full-time days in the ring are over. I’ll probably have a few shows here and there. But my main focus is Global Force Wrestling and launching that brand as a standalone promotion,” Jarrett said. He’s appeared for both AAA and NJPW in 2015.<\/p>\n
Speaking of NJPW, Jarrett’s Global Force Wrestling presented the English language version of NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 9 this year. Jarrett spoke positively of the relationship and the experience.<\/p>\n
“What surprised me is with social media and trolls of the internet and constant negativity you always have negativity. Any feedback was 99.9% positive. With that being said we’re already successful with exposing the New Japan brand,” said Jarrett.<\/p>\n
Not even Jarrett was safe from commenting on CM Punk, as the two worked together in TNA in 2003.<\/p>\n
“We had a very business-like, cordial relationship. To say that I missed the boat would be an understatement. To this day he’s still one of the hottest box office attractions in professional wrestling, and he’s not even doing it any more,” said Jarrett. He also compared missing out on CM Punk to his father missing out on Sting and Ultimate Warrior.<\/p>\n
