{"id":16740,"date":"2015-01-27T16:40:23","date_gmt":"2015-01-27T21:40:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/crazymax.org\/newsite\/?p=16740"},"modified":"2015-01-27T17:32:17","modified_gmt":"2015-01-27T22:32:17","slug":"fighting-spirit-review-new-japan-big-pro-wrestling-festival-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/crazymax.org\/newsite\/reviews\/fighting-spirit-review-new-japan-big-pro-wrestling-festival-2015\/","title":{"rendered":"Fighting Spirit Review: New Japan Big Pro Wrestling Festival 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\"><strong>Date:\u00a0 January 3rd, 2015<br \/>\nLocation:\u00a0 Tokyo Differ Ariake in Tokyo, Japan<br \/>\nAnnounced Attendance:\u00a0 1,700<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>This is not a real card, as you probably noticed.\u00a0 Before their Tokyo Dome event, New Japan had a big festival that had announcements, contract signings, etc.\u00a0 As part of that, towards the end they had a couple of matches as well, featuring wrestlers that didn\u2019t have matches the next night at the Dome.\u00a0 Here is the full card:<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; Jushin Liger, Sho Tanaka, and Yohei Komatsu vs. Taka Michinoku, Taichi, and El Desperado<br \/>\n&#8211; Manabu Nakanishi and Captain New Japan vs. Yuji Nagata and Tiger Mask<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Shortest review ever!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\"><strong>Jushin Liger, Sho Tanaka, and Yohei Komatsu vs. Taka Michinoku, Taichi, and El Desperado<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nDesperado attacks Liger outside of the ring before they even get started, and everyone battles outside the ring.\u00a0 Desperado and Liger eventually get in the ring and Desperado goes for Liger\u2019s mask.\u00a0 Desperado throws the referee out of the ring and gets some scissors, but Liger gets them away and hits Desperado with them.\u00a0 No one told these two this is just a friendly promotional match.\u00a0 Tanaka and Komatsu come in to help and Tanaka puts Desperado in a crab hold.\u00a0 Desperado dumps Tanaka out of the ring, where Taichi attacks him with the bell hammer.\u00a0 Liger comes over and Taichi smacks him as well with it.\u00a0 Back in the ring Desperado tags in Taichi, Irish whip by Taichi and he hits a back bodydrop.\u00a0 Taichi puts Tanaka in a single leg crab hold but Komatsu breaks it up.\u00a0 Desperado swings Komatsu and Tanaka around the ring (literally), Tanaka is thrown in the corner and Taichi and Michinoku both hit strikes.\u00a0 Liger comes in but Desperado ducks his charge and Liger tumbles out of the ring.\u00a0 Desperado then sails out onto him with a tope con hilo, while in the ring Michinoku kicks at Tanaka.\u00a0 Leg lariat by Michinoku but Tanaka kicks out.\u00a0 Tanaka dropkicks Michinoku and makes the hot tag to Komatsu.\u00a0 Desperado is also tagged in and Komatsu knocks Desperado to the mat.\u00a0 Elbow smash by Komatsu but he gets a two count.\u00a0 Komatsu and Tanaka dropkick Desperado, Tanaka applies a cross armbreaker, but Taichi and Michinoku come in to help.\u00a0 Spear by Desperado to Komatsu, Desperado picks up Komatsu and plants him with the Guitarra de Angel for the three count.\u00a0 Michinoku, Taichi, and Desperado are the winners.\u00a0 This was so much more of a hateful match than I was expecting.\u00a0 Desperado was flying around the ring, I mean they used scissors.\u00a0 Not what I was expecting, but in a good way, just wish it was longer.\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Score:\u00a0 7.0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\"><strong>Manabu Nakanishi and Captain New Japan vs. Yuji Nagata and Tiger Mask<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nNakanishi and Nagata start things off.\u00a0 They trade old man submission holds and then go into the Test of Strength.\u00a0 Elbows and chops are exchanged before Nagata dropkicks Nakanishi in the leg and dropkicks him. Nakanishi trips Nagata and they both tag out.\u00a0 Captain New Japan and Tiger Mask go back and forth until Nagata kicks Captain New Japan from behind.\u00a0 Captain New Japan hits a double shoulderblock and tags in Nakanishi, and they hit a double shoulderblock on Tiger Mask.\u00a0 Nakanishi clubs Tiger Mask, Nagata comes in but Nakanishi throws Nagata back out.\u00a0 Captain New Japan elbows Tiger Mask and gets a two count cover.\u00a0 Captain New Japan tags in Nakanishi and Nakanishi chops Tiger Mask in the head.\u00a0 Tiger Mask knocks down Nakanishi but Captain New Japan runs in to stop the hot tag.\u00a0 Unfortunately Nakanishi accidentally lariats Captain New Japan and Tiger Mask tags in Nagata. \u00a0Nagata boots Nakanishi and repeatedly kicks him, but Nakanishi hits a lariat.\u00a0 Another lariat by Nakanishi and he puts Nagata an Argentine Backbreaker but Nagata gets out of it.\u00a0 Nakanishi tags in Captain New Japan and Nagata is attacked in the corner.\u00a0 Captain New Japan goes up top but Nagata avoids the diving headbutt.\u00a0 Tiger Mask comes in and kicks Captain New Japan into the corner, high kick by Tiger Mask and Nagata hits a big boot.\u00a0 Diving headbutt by Tiger Mask, cover by Nagata but Captain New Japan kicks out.\u00a0 Nagata Lock by Nagata but Nakanishi breaks it up.\u00a0 Hirai End by Captain New Japan, but Nagata kicks out.\u00a0 Tiger Mask comes back and kicks Captain New Japan but Captain New Japan fights them both off.\u00a0 Nagata knees Captain New Japan in the corner and hits a brainbuster, backdrop hold by Nagata and he gets three.\u00a0 Your winners are Yuji Nagata and Tiger Mask.\u00a0 This one wasn\u2019t quite as good as the last, but I liked Captain New Japan getting a fair amount of offense and no one was coasting like I thought may happen.\u00a0 So nothing great but no complaints.\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Score:\u00a0 5.5<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.puroresucentral.com\/gif\/festival_1.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"298\" height=\"224\" \/> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.puroresucentral.com\/gif\/festival_2.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"298\" height=\"224\" \/> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.puroresucentral.com\/gif\/festival_3.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Final Thoughts<\/span><\/strong>:<\/span><br \/>\nI went in expecting to see veterans just coasting along to put on a bit of a show for the live crowd.\u00a0 While there may have been some of that, for the most part I thought they did put some effort into making the matches entertaining.\u00a0 While obviously not a full event, and I wouldn\u2019t go out of my way to find these matches, it wasn\u2019t a bad showing.<\/p>\n<h3><strong><span class=\"smallbrand\">Grade:\u00a0 N\/A<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Kevin Wilson of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.puroresucentral.com\">Puroresu Central<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nakanishi &#038; Captain New Japan vs. Yuji Nagata &#038; Tiger Mask, Jushin Liger, Sho Tanaka, &#038; Yohei Komatsu vs. Taka Michinoku, Taichi, &#038; El Desperado<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":81,"featured_media":2284,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[399,40],"tags":[234,233],"class_list":["post-16740","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-fsreview","category-reviews","tag-new-japan","tag-puroresu"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/crazymax.org\/newsite\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/16740","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/crazymax.org\/newsite\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/crazymax.org\/newsite\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/crazymax.org\/newsite\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/81"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/crazymax.org\/newsite\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=16740"}],"version-history":[{"count":6,"href":"https:\/\/crazymax.org\/newsite\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/16740\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":16758,"href":"https:\/\/crazymax.org\/newsite\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/16740\/revisions\/16758"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/crazymax.org\/newsite\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/2284"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/crazymax.org\/newsite\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=16740"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/crazymax.org\/newsite\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=16740"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/crazymax.org\/newsite\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=16740"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
