UFC Fight Night 59 was completely advertised as the Conor McGregor show, and the brash Irishman completely lived up to the hype.<\/p>\n
Now 17-2, McGregor was completely dominant over the #10 Dennis Siver. Throughout the two round affair McGregor peppered the elder Siver with a barrage of punches and kicks all while holding his hands by his waist. After the fight, McGregor jumped the cage and got in the face of UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo, who he’ll fight later this year for the title.<\/p>\n
The night’s co-main event saw a controversial decision, as #3 ranked Donald Cerrone defeated #5 ranked Ben Henderson after fighting just 15 days prior. Fans and media alike generally thought Ben Henderson took home a 29-28 victory after a back and forth battle. When the scorecards were read, Henderson was infuriated and Cerrone looked a bit surprised. This was Cerrone’s first victory in three fights against Henderson.<\/p>\n
Following the fight Henderson took to the mic, saying he would gladly fight next week. Henderson is no stranger to close fights, as he’d also experienced controversial decisions against Frankie Edgar, Josh Thomson, and Gilbert Melendez.<\/p>\n
Fight Night Bonus winners included Conor McGregor and Lorenz Larkin, in addition to Matt Van Buren vs. Sean O’Connell winning fight of night honors.<\/p>\n
