It was an odd assortment of wrestlers, I can’t remember the last time I saw Sano and having representatives from so many different promotions meant that team work was a bit limited since they weren’t really familiar with each other. Koshinaka running around doing hip attacks off any elevated location he could find was fun though and Sekimoto looked impressive as usual. It just didn’t have much of a structure and at times just felt too much like “do a few moves, tag out, do a few moves, tag out” etc. Nothing exciting but not a bad showing by the veterans, one of those weird matches you’ll only see on an indy event like this. Score: 5.5

Joe Doering and Shingo Takagi vs. Kento Miyahara and Yuji Hino
Miyahara and Takagi start things off. Tie-up, Miyahara pushes Takagi into the ropes and he gives a clean break. Waistlock by Takagi, Miyahara reverses it into a wristlock and he applies a hammerlock. Drop toehold by Takagi but Miyahara quickly gets into the ropes and both wrestlers return to their feet. Tie-up, side headlock by Takagi, Miyahara Irish whips out of it and they collide. Miyahara goes off the ropes and he can’t shoulderblock Takagi down, big kick by Miyahara and they trade strikes, Miyahara goes off the ropes but Takagi shoulderblocks him down. Big boot by Miyahara, they take it to the mat but neither can get an advantage and both wrestlers return to their feet. Hino and Doering are tagged in and Hino makes it clear he is not intimidated. Tie-up by Doering, he pushes Hino into the ropes and delivers a chop before backing off. Hino chops Doering back and they trade chops, they then trade elbows as well, side headlock by Hino, Doering Irish whips out of it but Hino can’t shoulderblock him down. He tries again with the same result, Doering goes off the ropes and he shoulderblocks Hino against the ropes. Takagi seemed a bit out of place as he isn’t the biggest guy (compared to everyone else in the match), but generally speaking he held his own. It was a bit repetitive in parts, lots of shoulderblocks and things like that, but once they really got into it the second half of the match the action never slowed down to the finish. Just for the sake of mixing things up I wish it wasn’t Doering and Miyahara in the home stretch, I know it probably made things easier to have the finish just include the two All Japan wrestlers but I’d like to have seen something more fresh. Still, a fun hard hitting match, lots of clubberin’ here, and not a bad way to end the show. Score: 7.0

Final Thoughts:

Best Match: Joe Doering and Shingo Takagi vs. Kento Miyahara and Yuji Hino. It wasn’t really memorable in the grand scheme of things or a match I’d recommend people go out of their way to see, but it was still a really fun main event match. It is always fun to see wrestlers from different promotions mixing it up, especially when one of those wrestlers is Hino as he simply doesn’t care what promotion you are from. He was going toe to toe with Doering as if he was just another wrestler, not a Triple Crown Champion. They also went non-stop from bell to bell and never let things slow down, and overall it was an entertaining match.

MVP: Yuji Hino. It is not unusual for Hino to be the MVP of the indy events he is on, because he just stands out as more of a force than everyone else. I mean here he is against the Triple Crown Champion and he is standing there trading shots with him, or going out of his way to attack him just to show that he isn’t afraid of him. And even though Doering is a lot taller than Hino, it didn’t seem unrealistic that he could stand with him as Hino has such a commanding presence. I just wish that he was in the match more as he was the one showing the most drive in the match. I don’t think he will ever get a chance in the big promotions but he has done a lot this year to show that he deserves it.

Overall: This Fortune event was a big step down from the last one. While on the last event it seemed like everyone was putting on maximum effort, this just felt like another indy show. The main event was good, and some of the other matches were solid but it lacked emotion for the most part. Sometimes random pairings work, other times it is lackluster and this event had more of the latter. Just a lot of middling action with little standing out, nothing was really terrible but nothing will stick in your mind for more then a few days. Not much here I can recommend even though the main event was fun.

Grade: D+

Joe Doering & Shingo Takagi vs. Kento Miyahara & Yuji Hino, Shane Haste & Quiet Storm vs. Shuji Ishikawa & Tank Nagaimore, and more

[399,40
639,233
post-15948","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-fsreview","category-reviews","tag-kobashi","tag-puroresu
["GET
